Brooke: Get me out of here.

[Stephanie laughs]

Stephanie: Thank you, Tony, for helping me with the trash.

Brooke: You've been waiting your whole life for this moment.

Stephanie: Oh, years and years and years and years.

Brooke: Yes, well, enjoy it while it lasts, Stephanie, because it won't.

[Stephanie laughs]

Samantha: I thought you were your mother.

Nick: You did? I don't look like my mother. You must have met my mother.

Samantha: I did. She's a very charming woman.

Nick: Oh. You sound surprised. You saying her son is a little less charming?

Samantha: You have very different styles.

Nick: Oh. How tactful. Does that dog bite?

Samantha: Yes.

Nick: Thought so. I assume you just have to have that quality tact, 'cause you deal with so many difficult people in your business.

Samantha: Well, no, actually, I don't. Life's too short.

Nick: So you don't find my old man a little difficult?

Samantha: Your father's wonderful. He's very trusting, he's open to new possibilities.

Nick: Well I guess that's a good way to be.

Samantha: How would you know?

Nick: Touché.

[Dog growls]

Nick: You know, if I don't trust somebody, maybe I have my reasons. You ever think of that?

Samantha: You're not the only one. Congratulations, by the way.

Nick: On what?

Samantha: Well, I understand you're the lucky winner. You're taking Brooke to your father's wedding.

Nick: I wouldn't say that for sure.

Samantha: No? Well, I guess you must not have heard the news.

Nick: What news is that?

Samantha: Well, Ridge has eliminated himself from the competition. He just voted against Brooke in a board meeting today.

Nick: Over at Forrester?

Samantha: Uh-huh.

Nick: Well, I don't think that's something Brooke would take personally.

Samantha: Even if he voted her out of a job?

Eric: What did Brooke say?

Ridge: In her mind, it's proof that I've sided against her and I really don't care about her.

Eric: Ridge, she has to understand.

Ridge: Well, on some logical level, maybe, but she's not feeling real logical at the moment. I feel like I've pushed every one of her buttons all at once. Rotten timing, too, I'm afraid.

Eric: You were working things out.

Ridge: We were doing better than ever, Dad. It felt like we were dealing with each other on a whole different level and it was really paying off.

Eric: Well, are you saying you feel like you're back at square one now?

Ridge: No, no, she just needs to calm down and get her perspective, that's all. What about you? How's it feel to be back in charge?

Eric: It feels pretty good, I got to tell you. Although I wish it would have happened a different way.

Ridge: Not involving Deacon?

Eric: Not involving Deacon. And without you jeopardizing your relationship.

Ridge: Well, don't you concern yourself with that. We'll be okay. We'll be better than okay. In fact, I think this might even -- might even help us.

Eric: How do you figure that?

Ridge: For one thing, it's gonna put some much-needed distance between Brooke and mother.

Stephanie: I see. You're planning a blazing comeback. Oh, I'm filled with anxiety. I must be concerned about this. Let me think -- that means you're gonna have to seduce a board member. Wait a minute -- there are no board members left. Even Ridge, your soul mate, voted against you. I think that leaves you with no options.

Eric: I don't see Brooke getting over this, not for a very long time.

Ridge: Please don't underestimate the Forrester charm.

Eric: You still think of yourself as a Forrester?

Ridge: I would have thought that my vote today would prove that.

Eric: It did.

Ridge: I must be totally out of my mind, giving the competition a leg up like this. Now you're really gonna give spectra a run for its money.

Eric: I'm gonna put Spectra right out of business.

Ridge: Oh, is that right?

Eric: I'll give you six months, tops.

Ridge: Yeah? Well, maybe I've got a secret weapon.

Eric: Well, maybe it doesn't matter.

Ridge: This is what mother was after. Getting you back to your same old obnoxious self.

Eric: Yeah. That and a little good, old-fashioned revenge, too, I'm afraid. Look, Ridge, you did me an incredible favor today, so I'm gonna do you a favor by making sure that your mother steers clear of Brooke.

Ridge: Really? And how might you do this? You gonna move back in with her? I'm just asking.

Eric: You'd better get back to that little design house of yours while you still have one.

Ridge: Oh, I'm shaking in my loafers. Can you see 'em? Can you see 'em shaking? I'm shaking all over.

Eric: Get out of here. Go on. Get out of here.

Ridge: I'm shaking. Bye.

Eric: Good-bye. Helen, hi, it's Eric. I wanted to catch Stephanie before she leaves for the airport. What? Really? That's funny. Wonder what's holding her up.

Stephanie: I've got a plane to catch, so I'm just gonna get started.

Brooke: Was it worth it, Stephanie? Stooping this low? Teaming up with somebody like Deacon, of all people?

Stephanie: Oh, I learned from you. Fight fire with fire.

Brooke: But I didn't want to fight you. Only in self-defense. It's true. I wanted to bring peace into this family. I wanted us to get along.

Stephanie: Your idea of peace is me keeping my mouth shut while you do anything that you want to. Well, guess what? You can from now on. Mum's the word with me. You're going to traipse through the tabloids and it won't matter, because you're not important to us anymore. You know, I feel taller. I felt tall this morning walking down the halls, lifting my head high. I was really pleased. I didn't realize, you know, for a long time, what a weight you've been, what a burden. Until now, now that you're gone.

Brooke: I am not gone.

Stephanie: Oh. The queen is dead. Long live the queen. Now, this I'm going to have to hold onto.

Nick: What are you talking about?

Samantha: Stephanie called a vote this morning on a resolution to remove Brooke as CEO.

Nick: What's the point?

Samantha: The point? Well, the point is that it's a family company, that she's always resented --

Nick: No, no, no, I know that point. What's the point of the vote? Brooke has a majority of shares.

Samantha: That changed.

Nick: How did it change?

Samantha: Something about 2% belonging to a little boy and a custody battle.

Nick: Deacon? They got Deacon's vote?

Samantha: That's the name.

Nick: And Ridge voted against Brooke.

Samantha: With his family. Which actually works out rather well for you.

Nick: Why would you say that?

Samantha: Well, if Brooke is upset with Ridge --

Nick: This isn't a competition. The woman's not a trophy.

Samantha: Sorry.

Nick: Forrester's the one that's gonna be sorry.

Samantha: But, you know, you don't know the background on this.

Nick: I know he's made a career out of hurting this woman.

Samantha: Well, she's made a career, quite literally, out of divorcing his father. That's what they resent.

Nick: Well, if he resents it so much, why does he want to marry her?

Samantha: Two completely separate issues.

Nick: Oh, the hell they are. If you love somebody, you don't treat them that way, period.

Samantha: I guess just so black and white with you.

Nick: Marta, it's Nick Payne. Is Brooke around? Still at the office. All right, thank you. Well, if it isn't the dark cloud himself.

Ridge: I'll assume you're talking about me.

Nick: How could you do it, Forrester?

Ridge: Look, whatever this is, I don't have time for it.

Nick: Right, you've had a full day already, haven't you? Kowtowing to mommy, stabbing the ex in the back.

Samantha: We heard.

Nick: How could you do it, Forrester? Are you missing a gene or something? You got no human feeling?

Ridge: Look, I don't have to explain myself to you.

Nick: No, it's pretty self-evident. You get off on it. You like to reel her in and just throw her back out there, don't you?

Ridge: I'm sure that's exactly what you'll say to Brooke, isn't it, Payne? You'll go to her and take full advantage of this.

Nick: Oh, take advantage. What the hell are you talking about? Who's taking advantage? You know how tough this is on her? How many times she's had to swallow her pride?

Ridge: Yeah, I get that.

Nick: Do you?

Ridge: Yes, I do.

Nick: You just love it, don't you? The way it just lathers up your ego.

Ridge: Oh, please. You don't know the first thing about any of this, Nick.

Nick: And I don't have time for any explanations, 'cause somebody's got to pick up the pieces. It's the last time, Forrester. It's the last time you do it to her.

Stephanie: By the way, I've been meaning to thank you. Remember that wonderful advice that you gave me? "Stephanie, get a life." Sage. Well, that's exactly what I'm going to do. Now that you're gone, I don't have to worry about you and my family. And I don't have to worry about you and Ridge. And even you, I think, miss density, are starting to understand how little you matter to him.

Brooke: Well, that's funny. Because Ridge was just in here, begging for me to forgive him.

Stephanie: Really? Did he offer to change his vote?

Brooke: You enjoy this, don't you? You really want to hurt me. You want to take everything from me.

Stephanie: My god, now you're gonna play the victim.

Brooke: Why can't you just leave me alone, Stephanie? Let me be happy!

Stephanie: Because you don't deserve it.

Brooke: Everyone deserves to be happy.

Stephanie: No, they don't. Mass murderers don't deserve to be happy. And people who lie, steal, cheat and seduce other people for happiness don't deserve it either.

Brooke: Oh, my god. You're heartless.

Stephanie: No. No, that's not true, Brooke. See, that's where you've never really understood me. I'm not heartless. I'm filled with love for my family, and I would go to any extreme to protect them.

Brooke: Oh, I see. I did it the wrong way. I didn't go to the extremes. I was trying to be nice. I was doing it the compassionate way, the kind way, to try to gain your respect. God, what an idiot I've been! You probably saw that as a sign of weakness.

Stephanie: Now you want me to be grateful? I -- I tell you what. Let's stop reminiscing about all the fun times that you and I have had together, all the great times, the joyful times, and let's just move on.

Brooke: I don't want you to be grateful. I want you to be scared. Because I'm not going to make that same mistake again.

[Stephanie choking]

Stephanie: Brooke.

Samantha: How's your father? He must be thrilled.

Ridge: Yeah, he is. It's been a long time coming.

Samantha: You should be proud.

Ridge: Proud? Hmm.

Samantha: You did the right thing.

Ridge: A lot of people wouldn't agree with you, I'm afraid.

Samantha: Well, a lot of people didn't grow up watching your father build up his business. He used to light up when he'd talk about his work.

Ridge: You remember that?

Samantha: Sure.

Ridge: It's been the same for Brooke, you know.

Samantha: No, it's not the same.

Ridge: She poured herself into her work, and she was damn good at it.

Samantha: I'm gonna show you something. See this? This is the design scheme for Massimo's house. I have busted my butt on this. And when it's done, it's gonna be gorgeous. Nobody could have done it better. Does that make it my house?

Ridge: No.

Samantha: You did the right thing.

Ridge: Well, thank you. I needed to hear that.

Eric: Well, how soon? Well, how'd you manage that? Right. Right, you knew this whole thing was coming, didn't you? No. No, I don't think we're gonna do a press conference tonight, yet. Brooke has enough to deal with right now. Thorne, let me call you back. Come in, son.

Rick: I'm still in shock.

Eric: So am I.

Rick: Look, dad, it's not that I don't -- I mean, I respect you and your talent and your vision. It's just --

Eric: You love your mother. You don't want to see her hurt.

Rick: This is gonna kill her.

Eric: No, it's not.

Rick: Yes, Dad, it is.

Eric: No, it's not, Rick, because you and I are gonna work together to make certain that it doesn't. Your mother's a highly valued member of this team.

Rick: Team? What -- the team voted her out. Ridge voted her out. How is she supposed to deal with that?

Eric: You're not giving her enough credit. That's okay. I've made the same mistake myself many times. You think Brooke is down for the count, she'll never recover from it, and then all of a sudden, she's back, better than ever.

Stephanie: Have you lost your mind?

Brooke: It'd be nobody's fault but your own if I had.

Stephanie: God, I will be so glad to be rid of you.

Brooke: Really? Then what would you do without me, Stephanie? Who would you blame for all the little things that go wrong?

Stephanie: The little things? Little things? You mean little things like my marriage? My son's marriages? This company? My life's work?

Brooke: My life's work, too!

Stephanie: Oh, please, what have you done but destroy this whole company? Look, you've put our names on this. You've sent it all around the world. What are you still doing here? Why haven't you slithered away? Oh, I know. I know you. You're waiting for ridge to come in here and save you, aren't you? Sweep you up in his arms and ride off on his white steed with you.

Brooke: I don't need to be rescued, Stephanie. I can fight my own battles. And I will.

Stephanie: Well, I think it's a little late for that. As you so happily said, the war is over.

Brooke: You think so?

Stephanie: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: Oh, no. No, I'm going to need this. Sooner than you know.

Announcer: Coming soon to "the bold and the beautiful" --

Macy: Don't push me, Brooke.

Brooke: You act as though I'm the cause of everything that goes wrong in your life.

Macy: It's always about you. "The Brooke Logan show" is over. I'm the star and you're just gonna have to get used to that.

Brooke: Oh, so this is payback. Stealing my grandson and kicking me out of my company.

Macy: Your perfect, little world is just crumbling all around you.

Announcer: Brooke, Macy. Hot enough for you? "The bold and the beautiful."
