Massimo: Thank you. Thank you, thank you. Absolutely. Right.

Jackie: Massimo.

Massimo: Mm-hmm.

Jackie: Eric Forrester is here.

Massimo: So he is. Why don't we go over and say hello?

Jackie: No.

Massimo: Yes, yes, yes, yes. Come on.

Stephanie: Eric?

Eric: I don't want to talk about it.

Massimo: Ah, Stephanie, Eric. What a lovely surprise. I am assuming that you heard our little announcement.

Stephanie: I think everyone did. Eric, shall we go?

Massimo: Oh, so soon? I should think congratulations would be in order.

Eric: I believe it's customary to wish the bride-to-be good luck. Even more appropriate in this case. Excuse me.

Jackie: Eric.

Massimo: Let him be.

Jackie: Eric?

Nick: What a beautiful guitar.

Man: That's nice. Thank you.

Nick: Can't wait to hear you play it. All right. Nice to meet you. All yours.

Nick: Hello.

Bridget: Hi.

Nick: Oh, you looking for me?

Bridget: Yeah, I stopped by your boat and you weren't there so I just figured --

Nick: Oh, so you're hunting me down. Must be important. What is it?

Bridget: I'm just looking for the family resemblance.

Nick: Oh. You heard about my extended family tree. Kind of like jack's beanstalk. Here, have a few throws.

Bridget: Oh, I'm really bad.

Nick: Who told you about it?

Bridget: My mother. You don't seem too thrilled to find out you have a brother.

Nick: Well, would you be if you knew it was Forrester? Sorry, I know it's a different situation. Very good.

Bridget: Thank you. So you can't stand him, huh?

Nick: I wouldn't say that. We'll be all right as long as we stay out of each other's way. Oh.

Bridget: You're not doing that, Nick. You're both dating my mother.

Nick: Well, not for long.

Bridget: So you're gonna give that up?

Nick: I was thinking he would.

Brooke: Oh, it's exquisite.

Ridge: Practical, too.

Brooke: What?

Ridge: You know, your new ground rules. Everything from here and below is off-limits and everything from here and up is fair game.

Brooke: You weren't so keen on that before.

Ridge: Yeah, well, I'm kind of warming up to it. 'Cause I realized I still have several of my favorite parts up here. Like the ears. And the neck.

Brooke: And the lips. Don't forget the lips.

Ridge: Patience, patience.

Jackie: Eric! Eric, please, please, let me explain. Please.

[Car starts]

Jackie: Where are we going? Eric, will you please talk to me?

Eric: What the hell are you thinking?

Jackie: Oh, well, that's better.

Eric: Jackie, you know what he is. He's cold-blooded, he's manipulative.

Jackie: He can be very sweet. I know you have issues with him, and I understand them completely. It's just the -- god, I wish I had some time to explain it to you, but I didn't. Everything happened so quickly.

Eric: He overwhelmed you, didn't he? Well, that's his favorite tactic. Surprise.

Jackie: You know what? I appreciate your concern.

Eric: Concern? Concern? Is that what you think this is?

Stephanie: Mass -- what are you doing?

Massimo: Don't tell me you're jealous.

Stephanie: Terribly. It's so obvious that she's just crazy about you. A wonderful relationship. She takes off with another man after you've just asked her to marry you? Well, I guess she finally caught on. You were just using her to get to Eric. Weren't you?

Massimo: Oh? That's what you think?

Stephanie: What else?

Massimo: You know, you and Jacqueline have a lot in common.

Stephanie: You ruined my dinner date and now you're going to add insult to injury?

Massimo: Two women that I love, that I met in my youth.

Stephanie: I know, I know, you share a history together.

Massimo: We share more than that. We share a son.

Stephanie: Nick is your son?

Bridget: So you think Ridge is just gonna give up on my mother?

Nick: I think he's gonna get tired of getting shot down. You know, us new Marones, we just hate the word "no."

Bridget: She's not saying no, Nick. She's out on a date with him right now. Which doesn't seem to be a problem for you.

Nick: Looks like it may be more of a problem for you.

Bridget: No, no, that's not true. I'm really glad they're working things out.

Nick: You need that to happen before you can move on?

Bridget: Yeah, I could use a little closure, I guess.

Nick: You're probably gonna have to find that on your own, kiddo.

Bridget: Oh, yeah?

Nick: Mm-hmm.

Bridget: Well, I'm not the only one. How are you gonna handle it when they get back together?

Ridge: What is it about you? I just can't get enough.

Brooke: You know what they say. Always leave them wanting more.

Ridge: It's the confidence.

Brooke: Makes all the difference. I should've tried that years ago.

Ridge: Maybe you would have -- if I had let you.

Brooke: You're not responsible for my self-esteem. Or lack thereof.

Ridge: No?

Brooke: No.

Ridge: I have put you through a hell of a lot over these years, Brooke.

Brooke: Ridge -- you fell in love with a wonderful person. You got married, you raised a family. Now, those were the right decisions for you then.

Ridge: Yeah. That's not what I'm talking about.

Brooke: Well, if you couldn't be with me, then what --

Ridge: I could have let you go.

Brooke: You did.

Ridge: No. I kept you holding on, Brooke. I kept you holding on, I would give you just enough to keep giving you a little bit of hope, and -- it wasn't intentional, though. Didn't really know what I had done until -- well -- I've had a lot of quiet time lately. Long nights staring up at the ceiling, giving a lot of thought to those dances we've always done. Can't say I'm real proud of what I saw. I didn't want to lose you, Brooke. I didn't want to lose you. Simple as that. The way you look at me, believe in me. You always get where I'm at. And I can't imagine any man giving that up willingly. But I should have. For your sake, I should have. I look at you now, radiating this amazing confidence, and it's so damn beautiful. I'm the one who was standing in your way, Brooke. I'm the one who was keeping you from achieving this. And you'll never know how sorry I am.

Stephanie: She knew that you were the father of this child all those years and she never told you.

Massimo: She was afraid to.

Stephanie: Poor thing.

Massimo: All right, come on, if you're gonna be disagreeable about this --

Stephanie: Well, why not? What would you want me to do? Congratulate you? Obviously, she's more concerned about my husband's feelings than she is yours. But then, I suppose that's only appropriate, because I don't think your feelings for her are very real.

Massimo: Oh? You don't think so?

Stephanie: No, I don't. Mass, you've always wanted a family and children. And now it seems that fate has dropped a bunch of them in your lap. You don't know anything about this woman. And you don't have anything in common with her -- other than the fact that you share a child who's a grown man. If I were you, Id rethink this proposition.

Jackie: I love him, Eric. I've loved him all my life.

Eric: Jackie, you haven't seen him in 30 years. One plane crash and a dozen roses, and now you're gonna marry this guy?

Jackie: You don't understand, all right? And I don't blame you. He's done some terrible things to your family. But -- there's a side of Massimo that no one else sees.

Eric: Oh, and you hold the key to his heart. What are you gonna do? Are you gonna unlock it? All that love and kindness and set it free?

Jackie: There's a side to you that I've never seen.

Eric: Oh, come on, Jackie, I'm not trying to be cruel. I'm trying to get you to understand that this is a big, big mistake. You're not gonna be able to change him.

Jackie: I don't want to change him. All right, I want to change him, but only in one respect, and that is that I want to make him happy. Eric, he's never been happy. He's never had what you've had. A loving family, a -- home. I know you don't care for him. Can't you just have a little bit of pity for him?

Eric: The only person I pity in this whole mess is you.

[Door closes]

Jackie: Massimo.

Massimo: Hello.

Jackie: The doorman -- he said that I should just --

Massimo: Of course you should. You're my fiancée. Or maybe you need to be reminded of that.

Jackie: I'm sorry.

Massimo: Sorry? That's all you have to say? Sorry? One of the most special days of my life? I ask you to marry me, to be my wife, and how do you respond? By running off with another man.

Jackie: No, you don't understand.

Massimo: Oh, I understand perfectly.

Jackie: You know what, I guess no one's real happy with me today, are they now? What can I tell you? I was just as excited as you were. I love you, Massimo. I've loved you all my life.

Massimo: Of course you do.

Jackie: What?

Massimo: What's not to love?

[Massimo laughs]

Jackie: Oh?

[Massimo laughs] oh, I don't believe it. Oh, you are a rat! You know that? You are a rat. I mean, you had me completely fooled. I thought you were furious with me.

Massimo: Well, I should be furious, but nothing is gonna get in my way tonight, not when the most wonderful woman in the world has agreed to be my wife. You are gonna be my wife, aren't you? Hmm? Jacqueline?

[Jackie laughs]

Jackie: Of course I'm gonna marry you. I mean, who else is gonna keep you in line, hmm?

Massimo: Hmm? Hmm. Mm-hmm.

Bridget: Can I have a glass, please?

Nick: Can I have a glass, please? Thank you.

Bridget: Thank you.

Nick: You've really run through the hall, haven't you?

Bridget: I'm fine.

Nick: Okay.

Bridget: I didn't come here to talk about myself, Nick.

Nick: You want to talk about your mother?

Bridget: Yeah. I'm worried about her. She's been in love with ridge forever, Nick. Since before I was born. And now she has him -- or she could. I mean, he's practically begging her to marry him and live happily ever after.

Nick: Do you really think they would?

Bridget: Yes.

Nick: No, you don't. And neither do I.

Bridget: What is it with you? I'm curious. Is this, like, some kind of sibling rivalry or one-upmanship? Because if you're not serious about my mother, please, for her sake, let her go.

Nick: What if I'm very serious?

Bridget: Then for your own sake, walk away. I don't think you know what you're dealing with here. Do you know where they are right now, nick? In the private dining room at Ridge's country club. That room holds so many memories for them.

Nick: Visiting ghosts of relationships past. Champagne, tuxedos, country clubs. They've been there, they've done that, it's over. Your mother's had a taste of salt air. I think she likes it.

Ridge: Are you angry?

Brooke: No. Sad. We weren't always good for each other.

Ridge: But we have been talking about growing from our mistakes. And Brooke, if I was ever lucky enough to have a second chance, it would be so different.

Brooke: I know you believe that.

Ridge: You're not sure.

Brooke: Well, how can I be?

Ridge: I'll tell you how. Look into my eyes. Look at how I look at you. I am -- dazzled by the woman you've become. She's the one I don't want to lose. And I'll do whatever it takes, Brooke. I'll change whatever it takes to keep you feeling this way. Let me -- let me show you how different it can be.

Brooke: It's just so easy to fall into the same old pattern.

Ridge: But I'm not gonna let you, though. I know we can do this, Brooke. Just give me a chance to -- to keep on surprising you.

Brooke: Well, you've certainly done that tonight.

Ridge: 100% of my heart. That's what you'll have. And I mean that. I mean every word of it.
