Jackie: You would want to marry me?

Massimo: Don't look so surprised.

[Jackie scoffs]

Jackie: I am surprised. Oh, let's get up. It's embarrassing. I --

Massimo: Why? Why? You know how I feel.

Jackie: No, felt.

Felt -- years ago.

Massimo: It hasn't changed, Jackie.

Jackie: We're still just getting to know each other. I mean, again, it's --

Massimo: Look, I know you. You know me. You know the man that I was. The man that I've become. The man that I could be with you by my side. Oh, god! What a life we could lead! Darling, say yes. Say yes!

Maitre d': Here we are.

Stephanie: Eric.

Eric: Hi.

Stephanie: Thank you.

Maitre d': Enjoy your dinner.

Stephanie: Thank you.

Eric: You look nice.

Stephanie: Oh! Well, I'm delighted that you agreed to have dinner with me.

Eric: Yes, well, we have a lot of decisions to make, don't we? As to how we're gonna handle the separation.

Jackie: Oh, my gosh. It's -- it's stunning.

Massimo: It was my mother's.

Jackie: Oh.

Massimo: Oh, she would be so happy now. She would be so happy to see me with somebody so beautiful, intelligent, charming --

[massimo chuckles] It's something that she always wanted for me. And now, something I could've had so many years ago.

Jackie: Massimo -- looking back, it's just --

Massimo: I know, I know. I know, I know, I know. Does neither of us any good. It's just a waste of time, right? Okay, my new motto. Hmm? No more wasting time. Every minute is gonna be filled with joy, excitement, love, romance -- everything that we've missed.

Jackie: People, they really live that way?

Massimo: We will. We will. Jackie, I know how much you have struggled, but no more. No more. You are gonna be indulged and pampered and adored as no other woman ever has been.

Jackie: Massimo, no! I don't want to be adored. I just want to be with you.

Massimo: Is that a yes?

Jackie: Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes!

Massimo: Oh!

Jackie: I will marry you. I'll marry you. I'll marry you.

Ridge: Thank you.

Head waiter: Is there anything else you need?

Ridge: We're fine for now.

Head waiter: Enjoy your evening.

Brooke: It's different.

Ridge: Lots of changes. For the better, I think.

Brooke: You're right. They've improved it.

Ridge: Which makes it even more appropriate for this evening.

Brooke: Are we the new and improved Ridge and Brooke?

Ridge: Working on it. But like this room, everything that really mattered was already here.

Brooke: You ever miss those days?

Ridge: They were fun, weren't they?

Brooke: Never anything to worry about. Guess we were just naive.

Ridge: Oh, something to be said for not knowing any better.

Brooke: But now we do.

Ridge: Something to be said for that, too.

Brooke: The wisdom of experience? Definitely overrated.

Ridge: I don't know about that. Because as crazy in love as I was with the girl you were then, she couldn't hold a candle to the woman you are now.

Brooke: Thank you for bringing me here.

Ridge: Seemed right.

Brooke: Such a magical place for us. Only beautiful memories. Not one unkind word, no arguments --

Ridge: A mistake-free zone.

Brooke: Wouldn't that be amazing? A place you could go to and know that every decision you made was right. Never having to second guess yourself.

Ridge: No mistakes. No learning. No growth.

Brooke: I'm kind of tired of growing.

Ridge: Oh, Logan --

Brooke: See, this is what people don't understand about us. The way we are when we're together. The way we fit.

Ridge: Why should they understand, huh? What would we even care?

Brooke: I don't.

Ridge: You sure? I still feel you holding back a bit.

Brooke: It's not about winning anybody's approval but my own.

Ridge: Oh, you just want to respect yourself in the morning, is that it?

Brooke: And in the evening, and every minute in between.

Ridge: Well, can't you do all that and love me, too?

Brooke: I'm going to have to figure out a way. Because if there's something that I have learned, I'll never stop loving you.

Eric: How have you been?

Stephanie: Oh, very well. It's nice having Bridget at the house with me. Nice to have someone to talk to. Of course, you know all about that. You have Mrs. Payne.

Eric: I'm not trying to hurt you.

Stephanie: Sometimes I wish you were. Then I'd know you were just using her. Of course, that's not your style, is it? But she, on the other hand --

Eric: Let's not start.

Stephanie: Eric, she had a relationship with Massimo that you knew nothing about. I just don't want to see you get hurt.

Massimo: Your hand, my lady.

Jackie: Oh, I can't believe this is happening.

[Jackie laughs] I mustn't get used to it, because you just might change your mind.

Massimo: No, no, no, no. I am never gonna let you get away again. As a matter of fact, I'm never gonna let you out of my sight. Ooh, that reminds me. Ah, come with me. There's something I want -- I want to do. All right, it will just take a second. Shelly? Yeah, please, do me a favor. Find some movers and get over to Mrs. Payne's house. I want -- yeah. No, immediately. I just -- get all the stuff -- wait, hold on. What?

Jackie: We cannot do that.

Massimo: Of course, we can! We can do whatever we want!

Jackie: No. No, no, Massimo. Eric. He can't find out from some movers that we --

Massimo: Oh, Eric! Eric.

[Massimo sighs] I swear, I have accommodated his fragile ego more than I -- all right, Shelly. Sorry, schedule that for tomorrow. Thank you. Let him have your knick-knacks for another night. I have you.

Jackie: You have me -- for the rest of your life.

Massimo: Say that again.

Jackie: You have me for the rest of our lives.

Massimo: Wonderful. We've got to celebrate. Where should we go?

Jackie: Home, hmm?

Massimo: Home? It will be home now. In the beginning,

Brooke: Well, you really have outdone yourself, you know?

Ridge: You think so?

Brooke: Every little detail is just perfect.

Ridge: Good. 'Cause I was kinda worried.

Brooke: You were?

Ridge: Yeah. I was racking my brain trying to come up with some way to compete with two longnecks in a dinghy, you know?

Brooke: Oh, don't even start in on nick.

Ridge: Well, just finding out he's my brother, I kind of have to, don't I?

Brooke: You haven't even tried to get to know him.

Ridge: Nah.

Brooke: You should. He's family. And he's a very fascinating man. I think you two would become very close.

Ridge: We will never be close for one very simple reason.

Brooke: He's dating me?

Ridge: No. No, no, no. That stench. That damn cigar.

[Brooke laughs]

Brooke: Oh, Ridge!

Ridge: I can't believe you'd even want to be around the guy. I'm surprised his crew didn't throw him overboard.

Brooke: All right, you've made your point.

Ridge: Can't even imagine you really having to kiss the guy. Logan?

Brooke: You should try these scallops. They're really delicious.

[Brooke sighs] Oh, come on, Ridge. You knew I was dating him. What did you think?

Ridge: Uh, yeah.

Brooke: How did we get on this topic, anyway? I was trying to compliment you on this wonderfully romantic evening.

Ridge: I want to marry you. I want to build a life with you. I want to build a family with you. And I don't want to play games.

Brooke: Neither do I.

Ridge: Then what are you doing?

Brooke: It's not a very good feeling, is it? Not knowing where you stand. Now you know how I felt. All those years.

Eric: You're being very, uh -- very quiet.

Stephanie: Well, I don't think you want to hear what i want to say.

Eric: I'd be happy to hear your views on any subject other than Jackie Payne.

Stephanie: You trust her?

Eric: Yes.

Stephanie: Even though she didn't tell you she'd been involved with Massimo?

Eric: She's been very open with me about their history.

Stephanie: After she got caught. I just think you're making a mistake believing in this woman. She lied to you.

Eric: Let's not go there, shall we?

Jackie: Massimo, why couldn't we have gone home?

Massimo: Because I've run out of champagne at home. Besides, I want to show you off. Come, come, come.

Bartender: Good evening, Mr. Marone.

Massimo: Hello, Veronica. How are you?

Bartender: Good, thanks. What can I get for you?

Massimo: You can get for us your finest bottle of champagne. We are celebrating.

Bartender: Right away, sir.

Massimo: Thank you.

Jackie: I think I'm just gonna go and try Nicky. Okay?

Massimo: Okay.

Waiter: Are you finished with your salads?

Stephanie: Yes, thank you.

Eric: Thanks very much. Ask the chef if

Brooke: You're kidding. She did that? That is so cute. Did you get it on tape? Thanks. I may be home sooner than I thought. Oh, I'll explain later. But thanks for everything. Give Hope a kiss, okay? Bye, Rick.

Ridge: You up for dessert?

Brooke: Well, maybe we should call it a night. I don't really think you're enjoying yourself.

Ridge: It's not that I don't know where you're coming from. You're unsure about me, my feelings. But I'm not, Logan. It's this waiting around for something that should have happened a long, long time ago.

Brooke: If anybody knows what you're talking about, I do.

Ridge: Are you turning the tables?

Brooke: No. Just that little voice inside of me is telling me that I'm not ready to make a commitment. To you or to anybody else.

Ridge: Hmm.

[Brooke sighs]

I know that's not what you want to hear. It's not what I want to hear either. 'Cause believe it or not, I'm a one-man woman. I just haven't decided on the man yet. So you have to be patient with me.

Ridge: That little voice in your head -- what's it saying about dessert?

Brooke: Chocolate.

Ridge: Why am I not surprised?

Brooke: See, that's the problem with us. We know everything about each other. You are going to have blueberry cobbler ala mode and I'm going to have something terribly rich and sinful.

Ridge: Chocolate decadence, I would say.

Brooke: Oh, it's so sad, really.

Ridge: Tragic.

Brooke: I mean I should try something different for a change. You know, like creme brulee. We've gotten so boring. There's never really any surprises anymore.

[Brooke gasps]

Ridge: Logan, I'm gonna surprise you for the rest of your life.

Eric: Good, thanks very much. Thank you. Well, I'm glad -- I'm very glad I came tonight. It's good that we talk. We shouldn't be at odds. We have a great deal to deal with. Our children and the company. We will always be a part of each other's lives.

Stephanie: You think you have real feelings for this woman?

Eric: She's been very kind to me. And I have a great deal of respect for her.

Stephanie: Well, it's misplaced. I'm not gonna say anything further. I know it isn't gonna do any good.

Eric: Good. Thank you.

Stephanie: You'll discover exactly who she is and what she is all on your own. Massimo is at the bar. I don't think he's seen us.

[Massimo laughs]

Massimo: We have to -- oh, no. I'm gonna need a lot more than that. Because we are going to celebrate. What are we gonna celebrate? I'm about to get married, folks. Okay, so --

Woman: Congratulations.

Massimo: Thank you.

Thank you.

Eric: What's he saying?

Stephanie: I can't hear him.

Massimo: More glasses. Glasses! We must celebrate. Ah, ladies and gentlemen! A toast, to my lady love. The soon-to-be Mrs. Massimo Marone. Salut!

Massimo: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
