By Suzanne

C.J.: She walked out right in the middle of the ceremony?

Bridget: She ran out. C.J., It was so awful. They were all the way to the "i dos," and then mom just started crying and said, "I can't marry you, ridge," and took off.

C.J.: Man, that must've been rough.

Bridget: I don't know who i felt worse for -- mom, ridge or the kids. My heart broke for all of them.

C.J.: Actually, i meant that it must have been rough for you.

Bridget: Me? It wasn't my wedding day.

C.J.: No, but it was your worst nightmare. Being the maid of honor at your mom and ridge's wedding --

bridget: I agreed to that.

C.J.: Because you wanted to do what was right. Bridget, your heart must have leaped out of your body when your mom called things off. Hello? Hey, it's me, C.J. Remember? I know what's going on. I know that you're in love with ridge. Talk to me.

Bridget: I can'T.

C.J.: Why? Bridget, you don't want to talk about it because, the truth is, you were relieved when your mom decided not to marry ridge. And you can't admit that.

Ridge: Mother.

Stephanie: Ridge.

Ridge: Is he here?

Stephanie: No, he left.

Ridge: He didn't come back here?

Stephanie: What do you mean?

Ridge: Dad came to see me last night. He was very upset when he left. I've been trying to find him ever since. I tried the office, his cell phone. I just was hoping that he would have come back here.

Stephanie: I'm the last person in the world he wants to see right now.

Ridge: You're not worried?

Stephanie: Of course I'm worried. He needs time to process all of this. I mean, it was a terrible shock. It was a shock for me, too. But we've weathered a lot in the past. He'll get through this.

Ridge: Oh, damn it, mother. This is not some lover's quarrel. You ripped dad's whole world out from under him. You know, this is not something that he just weathers and processes.

Stephanie: Your father -- eric will get through this.

Ridge: Mother, we need to find him. Please, help me think. Where would he be?

Little ridge: Daddy?

Can I ask you a question?

Eric: Ridge, you're my son.

You can ask me anything.

Little ridge: What are the

good old days?

Eric: Well, they're the days

you look back on and smile at.

Like the time your dad let

you play hooky from school and

took you skiing up in big bear.

Little ridge: So today's one

of the good old days?

Eric: Every day since the

day you were born until the day

you grow up and walk out of my

life will be a good old

day for me.

Little ridge: I'm never

gonna walk out of your

life, daddy.

Eric: Oh, yes, you will.

And that will be the saddest

day of my life.

[Macy sighs]

macy: Oh, that was great. Another couple weeks, I will be back up to speed and ready to jump back into my singing career with both feet. I've already made a lot of calls. There's a lot of interest. I've got a whole slew of meetings starting tomorrow.

Sally: Whoa. Whoa. Stop the car. Come on, you're going too fast. You need time to recover. You don't really think that this forced schedule is a good idea, do you?

Macy: Mother, absolutely. You know how much I love singing and performing. It's -- it's my life.

Sally: Don't do this, macy.

Macy: What?

Sally: Don't try and use work to hide from your loss and your pain. Darling, you have suffered a terrible loss. You have lost the ability to bear children. And you have got to grieve for that loss, darling. You can't hide from it. So, do whatever you have to do -- scream, shout, cry, sob. But don't try and hide from it. You've got to feel it. You've got to feel that loss. You've got to feel that pain, darling.

[Knocking at door]

thorne: Come in. Darla?

Darla: Hey.

Thorne: Hey. Come in.

Darla: Thanks.

Thorne: You got my message. I'm glad you came.

Darla: Yeah?

Thorne: Yeah, we -- we have so much to talk about.

Darla: Go on.

Thorne: I want to -- I wanna talk about you and the baby. I've been thinking a lot about him -- or her.

Darla: You have, huh?

Thorne: Yeah. That's -- that's why i called you here. Have you given any more thought to letting macy and me adopt your baby?

bridget: C.J., I really don't want to get into this right now.

C.J.: Well, you need to, bridget.

Bridget: No. No. Ridge's whole world fell apart yesterday, not to mention my mother'S. And they're the ones i should be concentrating on.

C.J.: Bridget, there you go again. You're putting everybody before yourself. Sometimes you have to do something for yourself.

Bridget: I can'T. Too many people would get hurt.

C.J.: Bridget, listen to me. You told me that you didn't want to turn into your mother. Well, you haven'T. You stayed away from ridge. You didn't try to steal him away from brooke. You have done all of the right things here, bridget. She is the one who decided that she didn't want to be with ridge. And now he's free, and so are you. And if you don't take a shot at a relationship with him now, you'll never forgive yourself.

Bridget: You really think i should?

C.J.: Do something for yourself, bridget. You deserve it.

Stephanie: Why are you so worried? Did something happen last night?

Ridge: Massimo shows up while dad's still there.

Stephanie: Oh, god.

Ridge: I knew the two of them would come to me once this all got out, but i thought i'd be prepared. And I sure wasn'T.

Stephanie: I'm sure you did your very best considering these difficult circumstances.

Ridge: Mother, I called massimo "father" right in front of dad. Does that sound like i was doing my best? I mean, what the hell was i thinking anyway?

Stephanie: Honey, these things happen.

Ridge: You didn't see him. You didn't see the hurt in his eyes. He felt so betrayed. And I did that to him.

Stephanie: No, ridge. Look, he is hurt, but he's not angry with you. I'm the one that he's angry with.

Ridge: I've gotta find him.

Stephanie: Ridge -- do you think he'll ever forgive me?

Ridge: I'm wondering if he'll ever forgive either one of us, mother.

Eric: All this time -- you were not my son.

Darla: I've thought a lot about the baby and letting you and macy adopt it.

Thorne: You have?

Darla: Yeah. Seeing macy really got to me. It just made me realize how much of a miracle having a baby truly is. You know, we take it for granted. But it really is such a precious gift.

Thorne: Of course it is. And that's why it would mean so much to me and macy if you'd let us adopt the baby.

Darla: Thorne, you act as though you're asking me to borrow my car or something. It's a baby we're talking about here. My god, my baby.

Thorne: It's mine, too.

Darla: Yeah? Well, then maybe macy deserves to know about that.

Thorne: No, darla, that's the last thing that macy needs to know. What about what you need? Thorne, what do you need? Huh? What do I need?

Thorne: Darla --

darla: Thorne, think about it. We could raise this child together. I know that all you've ever wanted is to have a family of your own, and i can give that to you -- if you just let me.

bridget: C.J., You of all people, telling me i should go after ridge.

C.J.: I care about you, bridget. I just -- I want you to be happy. And if ridge is the guy you want to be with, then i want you to be with him.

[Phone rings] go on, pick it up. Maybe it's him.

Bridget: Hello?

Stephanie: Bridget, have you seen your father?

Bridget: Dad? No. Why?

Stephanie: He's missing.

Bridget: Missing? Stephanie, what are you talking about?

Stephanie: I told him about ridge and massimo.

Bridget: What?

Stephanie: I really didn't

have a choice, bridget. After your mother called off the wedding, there were just too many questions that came up. Honey, i couldn't -- i couldn't let anyone else tell him.

Bridget: Oh, god. And now he's gone?

Stephanie: He didn't take the news very well.

Bridget: Oh, no. Oh, no.

Stephanie: Bridget, do you have any idea where he might go?

Bridget: No. No, but I'll start looking. He knows. Dad knows ridge isn't his son. I gotta go. I have to go find him.

C.J.: Let me come with you.

Bridget: No, C.J., I have to do this alone.

Ridge: Dad? Dad?

Ridge: Oh, dad, where are you?

Thorne: Darla, I don't want to hurt you.

Darla: But you don't want me.

Thorne: I love macy.

Darla: I love her, too. And I love this baby. Thorne, I want to have this child. And I want to raise it with you.

Thorne: Listen -- darla, look, i'm sorry how things have worked out. And I'd like to think that if macy and I hadn't gotten back together that, yeah, something could have happened for us.

Darla: But you and mace did get back together.

Thorne: Yes. And she means everything to me. And I'm gonna spend the rest of my life with her. And darla -- nothing is going to change that.

Darla: So that's just it, huh? Just -- you want me to hand over my baby so you and macy can live happily ever after. Is that it? I mean, I can have a baby anytime I want, right? Maybe I don't want any other baby. Thorne -- maybe I want this baby.

ridge: I've been looking everywhere i can think of. Okay. But if you hear from dad or know where he is, just call me on the cell. All right, thanks.

Bridget: Ridge -- dad knows. He knows.

Ridge: Yeah.

Bridget: Have you seen him?

Ridge: No.

Bridget: Has anybody?

Ridge: Not that i know of.

Bridget: God, what if something's happened to him? Ridge, what have we done?

Macy: You know, the thing is, I always dreamed of becoming a mom. All the birthday parties, watching the looks on their faces when they open their christmas presents. What do you do when your dreams just don't come true?

Sally: You make new ones.

Macy: And just forget the old ones?

Sally: Sometimes, my darling. Sometimes you can't do anything else. That's all there is. You and thorne have suffered a terrible loss, darling, by not being able to have a family together. But you have this great love, darling. You love each other so much. And in the end, nothing is more important than that. Do you understand?

Macy: You're absolutely right.

Sally: Of course I am. I'm always right, darling. Now, while i'm gone, you think about what i said. Promise?

Macy: Yeah.

Sally: That's my girl.

Darla: This is a baby,

thorne.

My baby.

Thorne: Mine, too.

Darla: Yeah?

Well, then macy deserves

to know that.

[Knocking at door]

macy: Just a minute. So what'd you forget? Darla?

Darla: Hi, mace.

Macy: Hi. Come on in.

Darla: Thanks.

Macy: I thought you were my mom. She almost always comes back with one last piece of advice.

Darla: Yeah, well, that's our sal, isn't it?

Macy: So, can i get you something to drink?

Darla: Oh, no. Honey, thank you. No, I'm fine.

Macy: Well, what's up?

Darla: Mace --

macy: What?

Darla: Honey, i have something to tell you.
