Drew: All right, slowly now. Slowly. Let's be very careful with this. Young man, please, don't step on that. We don't want grubby footprints.

Ridge: Hey.

Thomas: It feels like it's not even our house.

Ridge: Hang in there, sport. It's only a little while longer.

Drew: Oh, Ridge, can I see you over here for a moment, please?

Ridge: Yeah. I'll be right back.

Thomas: Yeah, only a little while longer, then it'll be Brooke's house.

Jackie: I cannot imagine why Massimo still wants to work with you. I mean, after you chewed him out and then you threw your ring at him.

Nick: Maybe I'm just good at my job, mother.

Jackie: So where's your next port of call?

Nick: Here.

Jackie: Here? You're sailing out of Los Angeles?

Nick: No. I'm not sailing at all. He wants me to work out of corporate headquarters.

[Jackie laughs]

Jackie: You in an office? You said no, of course.

Nick: I told him I'd think about it.

Jackie: Really?

Nick: He wants me to command the entire Pacific fleet.

Jackie: Oh, Nicky -- Nicky, what a thrilling opportunity.

Nick: I don't know.

Jackie: Well, I do. You're going to take it.

Nick: Am I?

Jackie: Absolutely. It's a chance to work closely with Massimo. I mean -- the man who's always been your hero?

Nick: Till I met him.

Jackie: You know what? I'm not even gonna try to persuade you. I am going to leave that up to Massimo.

Nick: He can be pretty persuasive.

Jackie: Mm-hmm. Don't I know it.

Nick: What do you mean by that?

Jackie: All I'm saying is that, from what I know of him, he is a man who is capable of and used to getting what he wants.

Massimo: All right. Ciao. Mm. [Intercom buzzes] yes? She is? Well, this should be interesting. Send her in. Brooke -- come in, come in.

Brooke: Thank you.

Massimo: I'm surprised to see you.

Brooke: I'm sure. You must've thought I'd be checking myself into an asylum by now.

Massimo: Well, I mean, who could blame you? After the shock of finding out the involvement of Ridge and your daughter, I mean, you must be shattered.

Brooke: I know. I did have a few sleepless nights. And you know what? I really thought about getting out of town. You know, grabbing my daughter and just leaving, just disappearing. And then I realized I'd be playing right into your hands. Now, I thought about having you booted off the guest list for the wedding.

Massimo: The wedding?

Brooke: But then I changed my mind. Because the minute I become Mrs. Ridge Forrester, I want you right there watching.

Massimo: You must be joking. You're not going to go ahead with this wedding, Brooke. What about Bridget? What about Ridge?

Brooke: Bridget wants to be my maid of honor. And Ridge? Ridge can't wait till I'm his wife. And you, my friend -- you are all out of moves. Checkmate.

Thomas: Bridget?

Bridget: Hi.

Thomas: So I hear you're going to be the maid of honor.

Bridget: That's me.

Thomas: I'm the best man.

Bridget: Really? Well, that's very cool. Now, you know you have to dance with me, though, right?

Thomas: Okay. Just no stepping on my feet.

[Bridget laughs]

Bridget: You brat. I'll try.

Drew: Okay. Now those flowers go on that table there. And just move this away.

Bridget: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Whoa, whoa, whoa. That stays.

Drew: Oh, right. Sorry.

Bridget: Thomas?

Thomas: Dad took her clothes out of the closet. I used to like to go there. It reminded me of her.

Bridget: Oh.

Thomas: Now it's gonna be Brooke's stuff.

Bridget: A lot of things are changing.

Thomas: I tried to do what you said and be happy for dad.

Bridget: It's not easy, is it? I know, sweetie.

Thomas: It'd be different if she was someone like you.

Massimo: Checkmate? Do you think this is some kind of a victory?

Brooke: Yes, I do. I could've been running scared after what you pulled. And a few years ago I would have. But you know what? I'm much stronger now. I have faith in Ridge. I have faith in myself.

Massimo: Well, congratulations on your blossoming self-esteem. Which is going to lead you right into a loveless marriage.

Brooke: If Ridge didn't love me, you wouldn't have to go to such extremes.

Massimo: What extremes? All I tried to do was open your eyes, Brooke. That's all. And now you are slamming the shut. But do you want to know something? You're not gonna be able to do that. Why? Because you won't be able to find yourself in the same room with the two of them without seeing what I see -- their love, their caring.

Brooke: Of course they care. They're family. They always have been.

Massimo: They are not family anymore.

Brooke: They're going to be after today.

Massimo: What is the matter with you? Do you think for one moment they're gonna be able to relate as father and daughter after they've kissed each other?

Brooke: It was one kiss, Massimo. One stupid kiss! It didn't mean anything.

Massimo: Where the hell are you getting this? Huh? Let me tell you something, Brooke. He has not been able to stop talking about that kiss. The moment he realized that his little Bridget has grown --

Brooke: You know what? Just stop it! Stop it! They have moved on and put that behind them. Ridge has made his decision, and so have I. We're going to be together as a family. Now either you learn to live with that, or you learn to live without us.

Bridget: Busted. I thought you were outside.

Ridge: I was.

Bridget: Well, you should probably be going to get dressed, don't you think?

Ridge: No, I'd much rather hang around in here and watch you blush.

Bridget: You enjoy tormenting me?

Ridge: Oh, very much, I do. Yes, very much. I'm sorry, was that a rhetorical question?

Bridget: Why don't you go pester my mom? It's her job to deal with you now.

Ridge: I would, only she's not here yet.

Bridget: No?

Ridge: No. You think she's maybe changed her mind?

Bridget: Not on your life.

Ridge: What does this remind you of?

[Bridget laughs]

Bridget: Rubber band fights, Portofino. Put it down.

Ridge: That's right. That's right. And I want a rematch.

Bridget: No. No, no, no. Not now. Ridge, seriously, come on. This is not appropriate.

Ridge: "Ridge, seriously."

Bridget: Oh, how did I ever fall for such a dork? Do you ever wish we could just go back to that? Just goofing around?

Ridge: No.

Bridget: No?

Ridge: This is more fun.

Bridget: This is hard.

Ridge: Gets easier.

Bridget: What if it doesn't? Never mind. I shouldn't be asking you that. You know, we keep saying we're gonna stop having these conversations. And we really should. Because someday somebody's gonna hear us.

Ridge: Bridget, look -- as long as this is the last of these kind of conversations, there's something I really want you to know. I --

Catherine: Ridge?

[Knocking at door]

Ridge: Yeah?

Catherine: The girls are being so cute. You have to come see.

Ridge: We'll continue this later.

Bridget: Okay.

Jackie: What's holding you back from taking the job? You want to go to sea?

Nick: That's part of it.

Jackie: And? And?

Nick: Marone. There's something going on. It's as though -- I don't know. It's like he's losing it or something.

Jackie: Why would you say that?

Nick: The man's second-in-command is named Ridge Forrester. He's a dressmaker. He designs clothes, yet he's in charge of an international shipping operation.

Jackie: Maybe he just has a good head for business.

Nick: No, no, no. Marone's hung up on his personal life. Trust me, it's -- it's just weird.

Jackie: Hung up, how?

Nick: This Forrester's supposed to get married today. Marone told me the wedding's gonna be called off, and he seemed pretty happy about it.

Jackie: Maybe this Ridge Forrester -- maybe his fiancée's just a horrible shrew.

Nick: No. No, not at all. I met her.

Jackie: And? Oh, really? Mm.

Nick: Let it go, mother.

Jackie: Oh, Nicky. It's been a long time since I've seen you show this level of interest. Maybe it isn't such a terrible thing if this wedding falls through.

Bridget: Hi. There you are. Ridge was starting to think you'd changed your mind.

Brooke: Ridge was here?

Bridget: Yeah. But, you know, I told him he had nothing to worry about. I mean, you've been waiting for this day practically your entire life. Right?

Brooke: I guess nobody would know better than you.

Bridget: Mom? Mom? What's the matter? Mom -- is something wrong?

Brooke: I've just been thinking about you and me and everything we've been through -- and how much I've hurt you.

Bridget: Oh. Mom, don't think about that. Not today, okay?

Brooke: Aren't you thinking about it?

Bridget: No, I'm not.

Brooke: Well, I'm not sure that I can believe you, Bridget. I'm the person that destroyed your marriage. Now here I am, on my wedding day. And there's got to be a part of you that really doesn't want this to happen. Isn't that true?

Bridget: No. No, mom. I told you, I am very happy for you.

Brooke: As I recall, you were fighting us from the very beginning.

Bridget: That's not true. That's not true. I said I thought you were moving a little fast.

Brooke: And when Ridge found out about Deacon, you said all those horrible things

Bridget: Mom, I was upset. You don't actually think I was saying that to get back at you, do you?

Brooke: I think that has a lot more to do with it than you can even realize.

Bridget: I don't understand why we're even talking about this. I mean, today, of all days.

Brooke: I'm asking you today of all days, because I need to know if we have your support.

Bridget: I'm here, aren't I?

Brooke: My God, Bridget, that's not enough. I need to know if you think that Ridge and I can work this out, if we can be happy. Do you?

Bridget: Yes, or I couldn't be here.

Brooke: And you're not going to do anything to undermine us?

Bridget: No. You and Ridge are getting married before God. And I respect that -- completely.

Brooke: Okay. Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to hear.

[Buzzer sounds]

Bridget: Hello?

Ridge: Hey. I got a delivery down here for the bride. I'd bring it up myself, but my best man won't let me. He's afraid of bad luck, or something like that.

Bridget: Okay. I'll be right down. Ridge needs me.

Massimo: Oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy. She is going to do it. She is absolutely going to do it. Marry my son. Never mind that he's in love with someone else. She's so damn deep into denial. Oh, God, if I -- if I only had a little more time. But it's too late. Nothing will get through to her now. Nothing.

Bridget: Hey. Ridge said you have something for mom?

Catherine: Yeah, it's her bouquet.

Bridget: Oh, thank you.

Thomas: It looks like you're getting married.

Bridget: Not today.

Ridge: Hey, Thomas -- would you take these up to your sisters?

Thomas: Okay.

Ridge: Thanks. Hey. Alone at last, huh? What I wanted to say to you before --

Bridget: You know, Ridge, the guests are gonna be here any second.

Ridge: I know, I know. But I just -- I didn't want you to think that I -- because I'm -- I can't seem to get a sentence out in front of you now.

Bridget: Should I take that as a compliment?

Ridge: Yeah. Yeah, I guess you should. Look, Bridget, I -- I'm just not capable of doing certain things to dad, to the family, to your mom.

[Brooke overhearing]

Bridget: Ridge, you don't have to say.

Ridge: No, I do. I do. Because I want you to know --

Bridget: You want me to know what?

Ridge: I wanted you to know that I will always love you.

Bridget: I will always love you, too.
