[crickets chirping]

[Stephanie sighs]

Stephanie: I don't know why this is happening, Taylor. I think Ridge is just -- I think he's gotten himself off track, you know? He misses you. He's lonely. And of course, Brooke knows how to play that right away. I don't want him bringing her into your home, helping to raise your children. I promised you that I would do everything I could to protect the children. And you know I would do anything, anything to stop that wedding. I'd even let Ridge and Bridget get -- I didn't mean that. I didn't mean that, that's wrong. I didn't mean that at all. It's so wrong.

[Knocking at door]

Bridget: C.J.

Ridge: Hi.

Bridget: Hi.

Ridge: I heard what you did. What you said to the kids, about me and Brooke.

Bridget: Uh-huh.

Ridge: And I wanted to thank you.

Bridget: Oh. You're welcome. I hope it made things easier for you.

Ridge: Yeah, definitely.

Bridget: So -- the kids gave you their permission to propose?

Ridge: Better than that. They did it for me.

Bridget: What?

Ridge: Your mom was at the house when they got back there, and they asked her to marry me.

Bridget: Wow.

Ridge: Yeah.

Bridget: I don't have to ask what she said. So that's it, then. You're engaged.

Ridge: Yes, I am.

Massimo: This is my ring.

Dominick: I said it was just like yours.

Massimo: No, no, no, no. Not like mine. This is mine. See -- I lost one years ago, and I never thought that I would see it again, so I had another one made. I -- where did you get this?

Dominick: I told you. My mother bought it for me from a pawn shop when I was a kid.

Massimo: Where?

Dominick: Seattle. I grew up there.

Massimo: Seattle. Seattle, Seattle. Oh, wait a minute. Right. I had been in Seattle when I realized this was missing.

Dominick: Did you get your pocket picked?

Massimo: I never knew what happened to it. Until now. How amazing that you should be the one to bring it back to me. Thank you.

Ridge: Bridget, I know how hard this had to have been for you -- giving the kids a pep talk. I mean, they weren't exactly up on this idea of Brooke and me. You're the reason I can get married. You don't have to pretend --

Bridget: Stop it! All right? Stop it! God, what are you trying to do to me?

Massimo: I can't tell you what it means to have this ring back.

Dominick: You don't.

Massimo: Don't what?

Dominick: Have it back. It's mine. I just brought it here to show you.

Massimo: I'd be happy to reimburse you, of course.

Dominick: Reimburse? No, I don't think so. It's not for sale.

Massimo: I realize that you could have a sentimental attachment to a ring like this.

Dominick: Oh, please. What do you really know about sentiment, Marone? This ring's my good luck charm. Keeps me alive. What's more, it's mine.

Massimo: Name your price. I am serious, Captain. Whatever you want, it's yours. But you're not leaving here with that ring.

[Doorbell rings]

Stephanie: Oh.

Brooke: Stephanie, how nice of you to stop by. Please, won't you come in?

Brooke: So, what can I get you? Coffee? Tea? Valium? You look a little tense.

Stephanie: Where's Ridge?

Brooke: He went out for a little bit.

Stephanie: With the children?

Brooke: No, the kids are here. They're waiting for me to tuck them in. I know! Why don't we have some champagne? I'll open it. I'm not going to let you anywhere near the bottle. And you can help me celebrate.

Stephanie: Did Ridge propose?

Brooke: No. Thomas did -- and the girls.

Stephanie: I don't believe you.

Brooke: Well, it's the truth. Seems that they had a long talk with Bridget, and she convinced them that I'd be a very good mother.

Stephanie: No, she said you'd try to be a good mother.

Brooke: So you talked to her?

Stephanie: Of course.

Brooke: Well, whatever her exact words were, it's obvious that she's thrown her support behind Ridge and me. So there goes your last hope, Stephanie. I know that you were trying to use my daughter and the things that we had between us, our problems, to keep Ridge and me apart. But instead, she's the reason we're together. It's ironic, isn't it? Hmm.

Bridget: What are you even doing here?

Ridge: I thought I could help.

Bridget: How? What are you gonna do?

Ridge: Bridget, I'm not trying to upset you.

Bridget: Oh, do you want to be my shoulder to cry on, is that it?

Ridge: If that's what you need.

Bridget: Maybe it's what you need. Wow, that must be a really nice boost to your ego, huh? Watching me cry myself a river?

Ridge: Bridget, come on.

Bridget: What? What, am I supposed to be grateful for your attention?

Ridge: No, of course not.

Bridget: Then what are you trying to accomplish here tonight, Ridge? Coming here, tonight of all nights? You are engaged to my mother!

Ridge: Does that mean we can't talk anymore?

Bridget: It means -- it means I am moving on.

Ridge: Good.

Bridget: Good?

Ridge: Yes, I want that for you.

Bridget: No. No, no, no. No, you want it both ways. Well, you can't have that, all right? You don't get to be the love of my mother's life and my best pal.

Ridge: Bridget, we talked about this. We agreed we'd always be close.

Bridget: Yeah, well -- that seemed like a really good idea at the time. This is too hard. Okay, this is just too hard. Please just go. Ridge, just go home to your new life.

Shelly: Yeah, sure. I'll tell him. Thank you.

Employee: Hey, Shelly. The photocopier's jammed again. Do you mind helping me?

Shelly: Sure.

Employee: Appreciate it.

[Elevator dings]

Dominick: You've got a lot of nerve, Marone.

Massimo: That ring can't possibly be as significant to you as it is to me.

Dominick: How would you know?

Massimo: It was given to me by my father, a man that I worshiped. He died years ago.

Dominick: Well, this was given to me by my mother. She's still alive, but let's not hold that against her.

Massimo: Everything has a price.

Dominick: There's nothing you've got that I want.

Massimo: You want to sail? Because you're never gonna set foot on another one of my ships as long as you've got that ring.

Dominick: Okay. All right. You want this so bad? Do you? Get on your knees. Get on your knees, Marone, and crawl for it! [Ring hits floor] and about that job -- shove it. I'm through with you.

[Elevator dings]

[Massimo sighs]

Massimo: Give that to me, please.

Ridge: All right, I'll go. But I'd like you to promise me one thing first.

Bridget: What?

Ridge: You won't go and do something -- silly.

Bridget: What do you think I'm gonna do?

Ridge: I know you, Bridget. I know how you get when you're upset.

Bridget: How I get?

Ridge: Yeah, you get reckless. You get impulsive.

Bridget: I'm not a child.

Ridge: I know, but you are mixed-up, and there are a lot of guys that would love to take advantage of that.

Bridget: Please don't tell me you're talking about C.J.

Ridge: No.

Bridget: Well, since he's the only guy in my life --

Ridge: Did Nick Payne call you?

Bridget: What? Captain Payne?

Ridge: Well, obviously not. That's good. That's the last thing you need in your life right now.

Bridget: Where do you get off?

Ridge: Bridget, I'm just trying to --

Bridget: No, no! I know what you're trying to do. You are not my big brother anymore, all right? And you're not my -- you have no right.

Ridge: Bridget -- I am not gonna stop caring for you.

Bridget: Please leave.

Ridge: Bridget --

Bridget: Go.

Brooke: Here you go. [Stephanie groans] You might as well learn to accept it, Stephanie. Everybody else has. Thomas, the girls, even Bridget. She knows I'm the only one who can make Ridge happy.

Stephanie: No, she doesn't.

Brooke: Well, then why else would she say what she did tonight? Why would she tell the kids that everything would work out and that it would be the best thing for all of us? Was she lying?

Stephanie: Maybe.

Brooke: Stephanie, I know how you feel about me. And I'm sure that you're just burning up inside knowing that I'm going to be the new Mrs. Ridge Forrester. But that's exactly who I'm going to be, and there's not a damn thing that you can do to prevent it.

Bridget: It's over. [Record scratches] [Bridget crashing around] it is over! [Bridget sobbing]

Massimo: Thank you. Who are you?

Jackie: Dominick's mother.

Massimo: He brought you here?

Jackie: No, no, I knew he was coming. It's just that he has such a temper, I was concerned.

Massimo: You should be concerned. Your son is a lunatic. Yes?

Jackie: You don't remember me at all, do you?

Massimo: Have we met?

Jackie: A long time ago. In Seattle.

Massimo: Look, Mrs. Payne, I -- Mrs. Payne -- what is your first name?

Jackie: Jackie. But you would only ever call me --

Massimo: Jacqueline. My God. Jacqueline. It's been so long. You're Dominick's mother? Why, you're too young to be his mother.

Jackie: I wish. And it's Nicky. I call him Nicky.

Massimo: You would. I'm sorry what I said before, I --

Jackie: No, please it's all right. He really does have a tendency to fly off the handle. Not unlike his father, really.

Massimo: Well, he's a great sailor. You should be very proud.

Jackie: Yes, I am.

Massimo: Oh, please, sit down, be comfortable. Oh, my goodness. Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me. How have you been doing?

Jackie: Fine.

Massimo: You look wonderful.

Jackie: Thank you very much.

Massimo: I'm sorry that I didn't -- you know.

Jackie: Please. It was a very long time ago.

Massimo: I'll say. Are you still in Seattle?

Jackie: Mm-hmm.

Massimo: Are you still married?

Jackie: No. No, he passed away.

Massimo: Ah.

Jackie: I've thought of you, Massimo. Often.

Massimo: That's very sweet.

Jackie: Not really. I had something to remember you by. The ring.

Massimo: The ring? You're the one?

Jackie: You left it. And I guess I didn't try very hard to return it to you. You see, I wanted something to remember you by. And then Nicky -- Nicky became so fond of the sea, that I thought that it only right that he should have it.

Massimo: All right. What do you want from me?
