Catherine: I wouldn't have believed it
if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes -- three children dressed, fed and off to
school in less than an hour?
Ridge: Hey, I told you it could be done.
Catherine: You weren't fooling around.
Ridge: Well, not with the kids, anyway.
Ridge: Nothing. Why don't you take off?
Catherine: I will, but I'm just gonna go make up the kids' beds real quick.
Ridge: No, no, no. Don't -- don't worry about that.
Catherine: But it'll just take --
Ridge: You want to take the morning off or what?
Catherine: All right, all right, all right. But you're up to something.
Ridge: Bye, Catherine.
Ridge: Bye. All right, you can come out now.
Brooke: And what if I don't want to come out?
Ridge: Well, then there's only one thing to do.
Brooke: Oh, no. No. Oh, no. Oh.
Ridge: Tickle you until you get up!
[Knock at door]
C.J.: Bridget? It's C.J.
Bridget: Come in.
C.J.: Uh -- I just wanted to see how you were doing this morning.
Bridget: So you're still talking to me after last night?
C.J.: Now, why wouldn't I be? I mean, I've had to take plenty of cold showers before. Hey, Bridget, come on. It's no big deal, okay?
Bridget: Yes, it is a big deal, C.J. I just wanted us to work. I mean, I wanted to feel everything I felt for you before. And I did, I just --
C.J.: You felt more for someone else. Look -- look, Bridget, it became very clear to me last night that you have a long way to go before you forget about Ridge.
Massimo: Yes? What the hell does he want? All right, fine. Send him in, but tell him he's only got five minutes.
Deacon: Five minutes is all it's gonna take.
Massimo: I realize it's been a long time since you've put down a bottle of booze long enough to hold a job. But in the working place that most of us inhabit, we're used to making appointments.
Deacon: Oh, I already did. See, you and I, we've had this particular appointment for a while now.
Massimo: What are you talking about?
Deacon: You wanted Ridge to find out that Brooke slept with her daughter's husband. I accommodated you. Now, you're gonna accommodate me.
Massimo: So, you've come to collect on your marker. Well, what is it exactly that you want, Deacon? A case of jack, a carton of cigarettes?
Deacon: You wish it was that easy. Huh-uh. I want respectability.
Massimo: That's good. Oh. Have you ever heard the expression, "you cannot get blood from a stone"?
Deacon: Well, then I guess you're just gonna have to buy it for me.
Brooke: So do you think Thomas and the girls were on to us?
Ridge: Trust me, they had no idea that you spent the night -- or the morning.
Brooke: Or maybe even the afternoon?
Ridge: Hey, you're welcome to stay as long as you like.
Brooke: Careful. I might just take you up on that offer.
Ridge: Which reminds me -- what happened to all that talk about waiting until the wedding night?
Brooke: Well, maybe I just couldn't resist your manly charm.
Ridge: Well, that's totally understandable.
Brooke: If you want to know the truth --
Ridge: Wait, wait, wait, wait. That wasn't the truth?
Brooke: I wanted to wait till our wedding night, because I thought we were headed in that direction. And now that everything's up in the air, I just felt the need to be with you. I wanted to be close to you. I've missed you so much. And I just wanted you back, all of you, even if it was just for a little while.
Ridge: I missed you, too, Brooke, and I have to admit, I wondered if we could get back to that place, that place where it was just you and me, totally lost in each other.
Brooke: And we did, didn't we? I mean, for a moment there, you were able to let go and trust me again.
Ridge: Hey, what can I say? You don't exactly give a guy a chance.
Brooke: So does that mean that I'm forgiven?
Massimo: You are absolutely clueless, aren't you, my bleary-eyed
friend? Respectability cannot be bought, all right? It's earned through hard
work, compassion, dedication.
Deacon: Okay, okay, all right. Just -- just teach me.
Massimo: Teach you?
Deacon: Look, I'm not stupid. I see the way people react to you, all right? You say something, people listen. Ask a favor, you got it. You walk into a room, Massimo, people look at you. They give you respect. All I'm asking is, just show me how you do it.
Massimo: You're wasting my time, Deacon.
Deacon: Um, actually, I don't think that I am. You see, I had a little conversation with Brooke yesterday, and she let me in on a little secret. It seems that Brooke and Ridge, well, they've kissed and made up. Oh, yeah. That's right. The heir to your empire is back with the woman who makes your skin crawl. So I would say -- and this is just me talking -- that it would probably behoove you to help me make something of myself. That way, yours truly can be worthy competition for Brooke's hand. Look, just let me shadow you. Let me, I don't know, watch the way that you work, the way you handle people.
Massimo: There is nothing I would like more than your scintillating personality around-the-clock. But there's only one real way that you're gonna become somebody. And that is by doing it.
Deacon: By doing what?
Massimo: What the hell do I know? What interests you? What fires you up, Deacon? Because you're never gonna succeed at anything unless you are passionate about a job. I suppose you could always open a bar.
Deacon: Somehow, I don't think Brooke shares my enthusiasm for that line of work.
Massimo: Fine, all right. I'll tell you what we do. Let's talk -- let's talk about your background, all right? Do you have any special experience, any insights into anything?
Deacon: I grew up in Las Vegas. My mom was a -- was a showgirl.
Massimo: Why doesn't that surprise me?
Deacon: When I was a kid, I used to hang out all the time, you know, in the wings, just watching everybody do their thing. And I don't know, it was weird. It was like it was magic -- you know, the lights, the applause.
Massimo: And of course, your dream was to be center stage.
Deacon: I just wanted to be a part of it. I didn't care how.
Massimo: But you see, that's the point, Deacon. You have to care. Look at me. The work that I do, this company, it means everything to me.
[Buzzer sounds] what is it, Shelly? Rodriguez? Yeah, I'll talk to him. Como esta, mi amigo?
Rodriguez: We've got a problem, Massimo. A massive one.
Massimo: What? Dear God.
Massimo: What do you mean there's a storm? I don't care if there's a damn hurricane. There is no way that those tanks should have ruptured. All my ships are double hulled, for God's sake.
Rodriguez: All I can tell you is we've got oil spilling into the sea of cortez.
Massimo: Look, I want that captain on the line right now! What are you standing there like a frozen deer in the headlights? For God's sake, give me that map at the end of that table, will you? Make yourself useful. Shelly, set up a conference call with the Mexican ambassador and admiral Perkins of the coast guard, and then get a hold of van horn at ntsb. Oh, and if you can track down Ridge, get him, too, please.
Ridge: You don't play fair. Has anyone ever told you that?
Brooke: I just asked you if you forgive me.
Ridge: Yeah, but it's the way you do it.
Brooke: And what way is that?
Ridge: You know, I really wish that a few amazing, incredible kisses could make me forget what you did with Deacon.
Brooke: Ridge, I realize that you can't forget that. But can you live with it? Can you live with me knowing what you know? Deacon is always going to be the father of my child. But I promise you, he's not going to become a factor when it comes to my commitment to you and to our children. In my heart, you're first, last and everything in between. I guess I just need to know if you feel the same way.
Massimo: No, I'm still waiting to find out more details. Yes, as soon as I do. Whoo. My ships have been sailing these waters for decades. We've never had one accident. Never. Not one. I don't understand. How could this have happened?
Deacon: Um, look, man, I wish you luck, and everything, but this is a little more stress than I signed on for. I'm out of here, okay?
Massimo: Oh, great. And you wanted to walk in my shoes, huh?
Deacon: Marone, don't forget, you still owe me.
Massimo: Fine. You come back when you figure out what you want to be when you grow up. [Buzzer sounds] Yes? Oh, patch him through. Captain Payne, what in the name of God is going on down there?
Dominick: First of all, who the hell am I talking to?
Massimo: I'm the man who owns the ship you're on, you idiot. Where the hell are you?
Dominick: Mr. Marone, we're 20 miles off the coast of Baja, piled onto a reef. I do not know what happened, but I will find out.
Operator: Paging Dr. McCongnel, call extension 198. Extension 198 for Dr. McCongnel.
Bridget: Think of something else. Think of something else. [Phone dialing] come on, mom, answer.
[Cell phone ringing]
Ridge: Logan? Your purse is ringing. [Ringing continues] Hello? Hello? Anyone there? Hello?
Bridget: Ridge? Hi, um, it's me.
Ridge: Hey, princess. Are you okay?
Bridget: Yeah, I'm fine. I just -- I wasn't expecting you to answer my mom's phone.
Ridge: Oh, well, Hope woke up, so your mom went to check on her in the guest room.
Bridget: Why was Hope sleeping in mom's guest room?
Ridge: Actually, it was my guest room.
Bridget: Oh. Wow. So I guess dinner went pretty well last night then, huh?
Ridge: Yeah. Yeah, it was very special. Look, um, your mom and I --
Bridget: Oh, Ridge, you don't have to explain. That's great. I'm really happy for you.
Ridge: Are you?
Bridget: Yeah. Look, if you're worried I'm jealous or something, don't be. That kiss cured me, remember? You know what? I gotta go. I have to go back to work, so --
Ridge: Are you sure you don't want to wait for your mom?
Bridget: No, no. I'll call her later. Bye.
Brooke: Look who came to say good morning.
Ridge: She did, huh?
Brooke: Mm-hmm. Thank you for letting me spend the night.
Ridge: Well, absolutely. What guy in his right mind wouldn't want to wake up to two of the most beautiful women in the world, huh?
Brooke: Well, that's so nice of Uncle Ridge. Say, "thank you, Uncle Ridge."
Ridge: "Uncle Ridge," huh?
Brooke: Well, for lack of a better alternative.
Ridge: Yeah. I guess Deacon's not about to relinquish his title of "dad." Too bad for you, little one. But you know what? I don't want you worrying about anything because you're not gonna have to grow up without someone to love you and protect you and to show you what it's like to have a real dad around.
Brooke: She's not?
Ridge: I've thought a lot lately about my life, where it's headed, what my role in this family is all about.
[Ridge sighs] I want to follow my instincts, but I also want to do what's right. When I look at this little child, I think I know where I belong, how I can take a little life like this and make all the difference in the world. I want to make that kind of difference for Hope.
Brooke: Oh, Ridge.
Ridge: Every child deserves a little hope. She deserves to live up to her name. She deserves to have a love and to be cherished. She deserves to have all of her dreams come true.
Brooke: I think all of mine just did.
Massimo: I thought you've been sailing those waters for years.
Dominick: I have, sir. Pretty much business as usual down here. A little choppy. Nothing we can't handle.
Massimo: Well, then how in God's name could something -- ?
Dominick: O'Connell, engines full steam ahead. Get us off this thing.
Massimo: I want an explanation, Captain.
Dominick: I don't know. Felt sort of like a jolt, like we've been lifted out of the water. That's when we piled onto this thing. Hard to port! Hard to port, now!
Massimo: Are you asking me to believe that -- ?
Dominick: Frankly, sir, right now, I don't give a damn what you believe.
Massimo: Captain Payne. Captain Payne, what's going on down there?
[Siren continues] Captain Payne! Payne!
