Megan: It's disgusting. Where do the tabloids get off printing slander like this? It actually says that Amber is some sort of celebrity on the adult video scene.

Eric: God.

Megan: We just started getting the calls in. It's coming out later today. One of the reporters messengered that over. Do you want me to get the legal department on the phone?

Eric: No.

Megan: Eric, I'm not a lawyer, but this sounds like a great case for libel. I mean it's a blatant, malicious lie. No. This story is true? Amber really did make an adult video?

Amber: I can't believe this is really happening. You know, I finally felt like I was getting someplace. And then Rudy shows up with that stupid tape. You know, he had no right to sell it. It was supposed to be private. I know how much this hurts you, and I'm sorry. But I'm sure that's the last thing you want to hear, another apology from your screwed-up wife.

Rick: You don't need to apologize, Amber. You made that tape years ago.

Amber: Yeah, but now it's turning into a scandal, and I am responsible. I let you down, and I let your family down again. You know, where does it end? Where does it end? It's been one thing after another for years, and no matter what I do, I can't stop it. You know, that's it. That's it. I'm jinxed.

Rick: You are not.

Amber: Yes, I am. Yes, I am. I'm -- I'm bad luck, Rick. And I wouldn't blame you if you wanted me as far away from you and Little Eric as possible.

[Rick sighs]

Macy: Are you sure you don't mind doing this? I don't want you to spy on him. I just want you to talk to him, you know? Ask him how he feels about me. I know you can tell if he's lying.

Darla: Oh, please. Honey, he's not lying. The guy went absolutely crazy trying to find you in Portofino.

Macy: Yeah. But will those feelings fade once he loses the thrill of the chase?

Darla: Planning on getting caught?

Macy: I don't know. Oh, Darla, I just don't know what to think. I mean, you know, he keeps saying all the right things -- talking our future, talking about marriage. And hey, three years ago, that's exactly what I wanted to hear, but a lot's changed since then. A lot has happened. I just need to know if I can trust him again.

Thorne: Where you going with that?

Tricia: I'm taking the high road. I thought I'd better leave, before I get thrown out.

Sally: Hello, Macy, my darling. What are you doing here?

Macy: I just stopped by to see Darla.

Sally: Oh, well, I hope you two aren't planning on going anywhere, because we are very busy today, and I am going to need her. All of the orders for the portofino line are coming in much faster than we anticipated, and we're falling behind.

Macy: Actually, she's not here. I sent her over to Thorne's.

Sally: Why? Why would you do that?

Macy: Peace of mind.

Sally: Peace of mind, huh? I knew it. I knew it. I knew something happened when you went over there to see Thorne the other day. I told you not to. I told you to stay away from him.

Macy: Mother, nothing happened.

Sally: So you say.

Macy: He, hopefully, will say the same thing to Darla.

Sally: I get it. You sent Darla over there on some kind of reconnaissance mission, huh?

Macy: Mother, he told me that he wasn't involved with Tricia, and my gut says that I should believe him.

Sally: But you're looking for a second opinion anyway, hmm?

Macy: I need to be sure. I need to know that I really am the only woman for Thorne.

Thorne: Where did you get the idea that I was going to throw you out?

Tricia: Would you like me to stay? Right.

Thorne: Tricia, things have gotten complicated.

Tricia: It's okay. I understand. I've got a life back in New York. And I've got patients who need me. Let's just chalk this up to bad timing.

Thorne: I'm sorry if I hurt you.

Tricia: You didn't know Macy was going to come back to L.A. You didn't even know she was alive.

Thorne: But still, if I led you on or took advantage --

Tricia: No, no, no. Shh, shh. That's very sweet. And you are a good man, Thorne. I hope Macy appreciates that about you.

Thorne: I think she's starting to.

Tricia: Well, I better get a move on. I have a plane to catch. The transport company will be around in a few days to pick up my motorcycle.

Thorne: Okay.

Tricia: Thanks. And good luck, okay? Thanks for everything.

Amber: What was that for?

Rick: Amber, I'm the one who should be apologizing, not you. I've been acting like a jerk, giving you the silent treatment, shutting you out. I just -- I couldn't deal with what I saw on that tape.

Amber: You were disgusted, and you had every right to be.

Rick: No. I was jealous. Just seeing you and another guy together like that, it was too much for me. And I know you wanted to talk about it. But every time I tried to, I just got so angry.

Amber: With me?

Rick: With Rudy. For taking advantage of you. For showing the world something so private. I just -- I felt so dumb getting upset about something that happened years ago. It's like you said, we hadn't even met.

Amber: That's not dumb, Rick. I think it's wonderful. To know that you care that much.

Rick: What's that saying? That -- that you always hurt the one that you love? I guess that's why I got so upset about this. Because I love you so much.

Amber: I love you, too. I just hope that your family is as understanding as you are.

Rick: You don't have to go to this board meeting if you don't want to. I can take care of this.

Amber: No. No, I'm not gonna run from this, Rick. You know, this is gonna affect the company, and I have to tell them. And I have to do it today.

Sally: So, you say you need to be sure about Thorne's feelings for you?

Macy: I need to know that he's not putting me on.

Sally: Why? Why now? What's -- oh, Macy, no.

Macy: I haven't made any decisions yet, mother.

Sally: But you are thinking about getting back together with him, aren't you? You are thinking about accepting his proposal?

Macy: I'm not going to jump into anything. I did that before, and I remember where it got me.

Sally: Uh-huh. Well, then why did you send Darla over there to talk with him, hmm?

Macy: Because I have feelings for him, mother, you know that.

Sally: Yeah, I do. And I'm not going to try to persuade you to change those feelings, Macy. I don't think I have to. I think you got the situation very well under control.

Macy: Come on, mother, I really don't need your sarcasm right now.

Sally: I'm not being sarcastic, darling. I mean every word I say. I think you're handling yourself very well. I'm very proud of you.

Darla: So -- that's the roommate.

Thorne: Former roommate.

Darla: What, she's leaving?

Thorne: You didn't notice her suitcase?

Darla: No, actually, I was too busy checking out that kiss.

Thorne: She was saying good-bye, Darla. She's going back to New York.

Darla: Oh, well, that's good news.

Thorne: For who? Darla?

Darla: Thorne, I'm Macy's best friend. I'm just looking out for her.

Thorne: Is that why you're here?

Darla: Well, she said you been making some pretty big promises lately.

Thorne: Well, I intend to keep those promises if she'll let me.

Darla: Mm, you want to start over.

Thorne: I want to make her happy.

Darla: You wanna make up for the past?

Thorne: I'm not doing this out of guilt, if that's what you're asking. It's not like the last time. I know exactly what I want. What Macy and I have is real. Yeah, we've had our problems. It hasn't been easy. You know, I think back to all the things in the beginning -- the family rivalry, the parents' disapproval. It was like the whole world was against us. But you know what? We got through it. And we're going to get through this, as well, because we belong together. And I am going to do everything in my power to prove that to Macy. And not just to win her over -- I'm going to spend every second of every day proving that to her for the rest of our lives.

Eric: Stephanie, hi.

Stephanie: Hi, darling. Megan sounded a little grim when she called me and said you wanted to have this meeting. Is everything all right?

Eric: Actually, I'd like to wait till everybody gets here to explain.

Brooke: Sorry, I'm late. I just got these folders from the media department.

Stephanie: Well, they wouldn't be late delivering them if you'd get the projections in on time.

Brooke: I've been busy, Stephanie.

Stephanie: Preoccupied's more like it.

Eric: Kristen, good, you're here. We're just about to start.

Kristen: I just heard from Thorne. He's a little tied up, but he'll get here as soon as he can.

Eric: Good. That's fine.

Stephanie: Rick and Amber coming to this?

Brooke: They'd better be coming. The latest projections for the ambrosia line are incredible. This investment has really paid off for us.

Kristen: Well, it better. We've invested a fortune in it.

Eric: Actually, that's what this meeting's all about. I think it may be time for us to reconsider the future of the ambrosia line.

Stephanie: Amber -- just the young lady we're looking for.

Macy: You're proud of me?

Sally: Yes, I am. Because now I'm convinced that you're doing the right thing. You're thinking long and hard before you make a very important decision. Macy, my darling, any fool can jump in the river and start splashing around to get to the other side. But it takes a very brave and a very wise person to look at the situation, to look at the other side, see everything you ever dreamed of or wanted over there and still admit that you might not make it across.

Macy: It would be very easy for me to be swept away. But if there's one thing I learned -- I have to be careful.

Sally: Yes, of course you have to be careful. But you also have to remember that you're not the same girl you were when you had that terrible accident. The alcoholism, the insecurity -- you've been battling those demons for the past three years, and you've won. So I figure, if you really want a future with Thorne, you can have it.

Macy: And you'd be okay with that?

Sally: My darling daughter, I'd be okay with whatever fulfills you and makes you happy. Whether it's Thorne or Lorenzo doesn't really matter to me, as long as you are safe and happy and secure.

Macy: I will be. And I promise you, whatever decision I make, it will be the right one.

Darla: Wow.

Thorne: What?

Darla: Well, I know that you love mace, but to hear it in those words, it's just --

Thorne: Words aren't enough, Darla. That's the number one thing I've learned about love. It's not about lip service. It's about action. It's about being there for that person on the absolute worst day of their life and taking them by the hand and telling them that, "hey, it's gonna be all right, because you're not alone. We'll get through this together."

Darla: That's beautiful, Thorne. And it's so right, you know. I mean, I've been waiting for that kind of love for, god, my whole life.

Thorne: And you'll find it, because there's someone out there for everyone. That one special person that loves you no matter what. And for me, that's Macy. And now that I've got a second chance, there's no way I'm going to blow it.

Darla: Well, sweetie, if that's how you really feel, then I think you and mace will be together again. She'd be crazy to say no.

Stephanie: Congratulations, Amber.

Amber: What's going on?

Brooke: The numbers are in. The marketing department thinks that your new collection is going to set record sales for the youth market.

Kristen: The designs I've seen are wonderful.

Brooke: They're all gorgeous.

Amber: Well, I -- I can't take all the credit. Eric helped me a lot.

Stephanie: Oh, how do you like that? She's turned out to be modest, as well as talented. You've turned into a wonderful young lady.

Brooke: I agree. You are a valuable asset to this company and to this family.

Amber: Stop. Okay. You don't have to say all that.

Stephanie: Well, I think we do. We've been so busy and spent so much time on the portofino challenge, that I think we've been remiss in not congratulating you and telling you how much we appreciate your contribution here to the company and at home with Rick and with the baby.

Amber: No, just wait. Please. There's something that I have to say. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But I can't keep it a secret. And I want you to hear it from me.

Stephanie: Well, fine. It can't be that bad, can it?

Rick: It is.

Amber: Something's about to come out. And it's something terrible, and it's something that I think you should all know.
