By Linda

Ridge: You guys be good. All right, I'll see you soon. Here.

Bridget: How are the kids?

Ridge: They're fine. Mother's gonna go stay with them.

Bridget: No, Ridge, you should go home.

Ridge: Hey, I appreciate you always looking out for us. But now you need to focus on you.

Bridget: I can't.

Ridge: I know it's hard.

Bridget: Hard? I've been running myself into the ground. School and work, helping you. As long as I kept busy, I could -- I could function.

Ridge: Except that's all you were doing is functioning. You were just sort of going through the motions.

Bridget: Not with you and Thomas and the girls. You guys were my refuge.

Ridge: I think we were until I started getting close to your mom. That seems to be when you pulled back.

Bridget: I just -- I didn't want to interfere in your relationship. I could see how much you cared about each other.

Ridge: You are so amazing, you know that? Have you always been like this? Always more concerned with everybody else? Making sure everybody's okay? I guess you've been like that all your life, especially with your mom.

Bridget: Since I was a little girl. I just wanted to protect her. I mean, I knew what people were saying. And I saw the pictures in the tabloids. The scandals and the headlines. I guess I just thought it would stop. I thought -- I thought she would see what it was doing to me and she would stop. But she didn't. And I just learned to separate myself. I guess I became the good girl. I never did anything wrong. I never -- I never got into trouble. I just had to be everything she wasn't.

Ridge: And then you met Deacon.

Bridget: I must look like such an idiot.

Ridge: No. No. You don't at all. I totally understand. One of those things where you just see what you want to see, you know? No matter how people tell you your focus is totally off.

Bridget: I should've known I couldn't trust him.

Ridge: Well, you should have been able to trust her.

Bridget: I did. I mean, I really believed she was the one person -- the only person who would never deliberately hurt me. And then she hurt me more than anyone else ever could.

Macy: Hey.

[Darla laughing]

Sally: Oh, my. Look at all this!

Darla: Welcome home, mace and Sal!

Sally: Thank you, honey. Thank you.

Darla: Oh, let me help you. Here.

Macy: Darla, this looks great.

Darla: Oh, thanks. Thanks.

Clarke: Oh, you outdid yourself, Darla.

Darla: Oh, thank you.

C.J.: Oh, wow. Looks fantastic.

Darla: Hey, mace. I've got your old room all made up.

Macy: Oh, thanks!

C.J.: Oh, Macy, you're staying here?

Macy: Yeah, yeah. Until mom gets on her feet.

Clarke: Macy, I don't want to put a damper on this, but, you know, you'd better make yourself real invisible around here. Because if anybody sees you coming in and out of here, you can kiss your anonymity good-bye.

Reporter #1: Macy Alexander is alive?

Thorne: Yep. You need corroboration? Ask around the hospital.

Reporter #1: She was there visiting her mother.

Thorne: Yes, that's why she came back.

Reporter #1: And do you think someone at the hospital might have seen her?

Thorne: Possibly, but that's not where the story is. Sally went home.

Reporter #1: Macy went with her?

Thorne: Yes. Get over there. See for yourself. But you better do it fast, because if you don't break this story somebody else will.

Reporter #1: You haven't called anyone else?

Thorne: No, I haven't. And you cannot tell anybody where you heard this from, okay? And if your boss asks, tell him it was an anonymous tip. Thanks, Mr. Forrester.

Thorne: You're welcome.

Reporter #1: You're right. This is a major story. This is huge.

Thorne: Thank you.

Tricia: You really did it.

Thorne: I did Macy a big favor.

Tricia: Then why do I get the feeling that she's not gonna thank you for it? She has another life. She's married to another man.

Thorne: I know what you're thinking. But you're wrong. I'm not doing this for myself.

Tricia: You're still in love with her, and you want her back.

Thorne: I want her to be happy.

Tricia: What makes you think she's not?

Thorne: Because she's not being true to herself. Macy is a performer. She loves the spotlight, the crowd, the fans. And she gave all that up to protect her father. But now, she's back in L.A. And once this story is out, there's no way she's gonna leave.

C.J.: All right, here's a little something to whet your whistle, mother.

Sally: Oh, thank you, sonny. Did you put a little rye in it?

C.J.: Yeah, nice try.

Darla: How's that? You okay?

C.J.: No, here. Let's get a couple more pillows.

Sally: Will you stop? Will you all stop fussing, please?

Darla: Please, we're just trying to help you.

Sally: If you really want to help me, Darla, you will go over to the office and you will bring me the latest sales reports.

C.J.: Oh, no! No way! She is relentless. Look, dad can take care of that. You are resting.

Sally: Well, don't you think we have all been resting far too much? We've all been resting on our collective laurels ever since we came back from Portofino.

Darla: Oh god. Oh, Lorenzo, did you see our fashion show?

Lorenzo: No, I didn't see it. I had other things to take care of.

Darla: It was amazing, wasn't it?

Sally: It was.

Clarke: Your mother's quite amazing, isn't she?

Macy: Yeah, she's always been a fighter.

Clarke: Well, she used to be. But the last few years, she's lost her spark. It got worse after she got back from Portofino. But that's all behind us now. Having you back has made all the difference.

Macy: The doctor said she's gonna be fine. The angioplasty was successful.

Clarke: Not the doctors. It's not the procedures, not the tubes, the wires, the cardiologists. They didn't save her life. She had a broken heart, and you were the only one that could cure it.

Bridget: I'm sorry.

Ridge: Don't be sorry. I know this is difficult to talk about, but I think you just -- you just need to get it out.

Bridget: It just doesn't feel right, telling you.

Ridge: Well, I want to know.

Bridget: Why?

Ridge: Because I don't feel like I can help you if I don't know.

Bridget: Ridge, you gave my mother a ring.

Ridge: Hey, we're talking about you.

Bridget: Well, this could affect you, too.

Ridge: It already has, Bridget. Just seeing what it's done to you, it breaks my heart. And I know it broke yours. But I never saw that side. You sort of kept that from me. The whole time we were hanging out together, you kept that totally away from me. I don't want you to do that anymore, okay? From now on, we're gonna face this together.

Bridget: I don't know what you want me to say.

Ridge: Just tell me what happened.

Bridget: You know what happened. Deacon told you.

Ridge: Bridget, I want to hear it from you.

Bridget: Well, that's just it. I wasn't supposed to hear it. It was an accident.

Ridge: You overheard them talking?

Bridget: Yeah. I was in mom's living room after the baby shower. I remember, I felt relieved, 'cause mom was so tense back then. It was just nice to see her enjoying herself. I guess that's why I started listening when the baby monitor was left on. She sounded stressed.

Ridge: That's how you found out?

Bridget: Yeah. She was upstairs talking to Deacon. And it was so terrible. Just the sound of his voice, and the intimacy between them. And they started talking about the baby. About their baby. And I swear, that second is when my whole world just came crashing down on me. I just wanted to get out. I just wanted to shut it out. And then Stephanie found me. And she took me back to Massimo's. She wanted to keep me away from mom, and just give me a chance to calm down. But I had to talk to her. I was just -- I wanted her to admit what she'd done. So I had Stephanie drive me up to the cabin.

Ridge: The night that hope was born? Oh, god, Bridget. I don't know how you did it.

Bridget: Neither do I. God, I was so -- so angry. And I was so filled with hate. It would have eaten me up if I hadn't found a way to put it behind me. And I thought I had. I really thought -- I really thought I was over it. Until you showed up tonight.

Tricia: So you think that by exposing Macy, this is the best way to keep her in town?

Thorne: It's the only way.

Tricia: Thorne, she doesn't have to stay in town. She has --

Thorne: Her life is in Los Angeles. Her career. Her family. Her friends. This is where Macy belongs, and somebody has to remind her of that.

C.J.: You're a real whiz in the kitchen, Darla.

Lorenzo: Cara, we should go.

Macy: No, it's okay. Darla made up a room for us.

Lorenzo: You heard Clarke. Your mother is a very famous woman. The press will be watching her recovery. They'll be watching this apartment.

Macy: All right, well, we'll just stay somewhere else.

Lorenzo: We should go home. We should go back to Europe now before someone recognizes you.

C.J.: Wait, you're leaving, Macy?

Clarke: You can't.

C.J.: You just got here!

[Knock on door]

Sally: Oh, who on earth could that be?

Clarke: Darla, did you invite somebody else?

Darla: No. No. No, I didn't.

Reporter #2: Hello, is

anybody home?

[Phone ringing]

[Voices yelling from outside]

Macy: What's going on? What's happening?

C.J.: That's coming out -- that's from outside our apartment, isn't it?

[Phone ringing]

Tricia: I'm sorry, Thorne. I can see how much this means to you.

Thorne: This isn't about me, Tricia. It's about Macy. I've let her down so many times, in so many ways. I've got an opportunity to help her now. And I've got to take it.

Tricia: Even if this is not what she wants?

Thorne: You don't know what Macy and I have been through. The years that we've lost. I let her slip through my fingers once. I'm not gonna let it happen again.

[Phone ringing]

Sally: Oh, lord! Will somebody please answer that telephone?

Lorenzo> Don't!

Darla: Well, why? We can't just sit here. It could be an emergency or something.

Clarke: No, no, no, no. Darla -- Darla, wait!

Darla: Emergency, no, it's a fire.

[Many reporters speaking at once]

Reporter #3: Oh, my god. There she is! It is true! She's alive! Macy Alexander is alive!

Clarke: Get out right now. Out!

C.J.: Shove that camera where the sun don't shine!

[Phone ringing]

Macy: How did this happen? We were so careful.

Lorenzo: Obviously, we weren't careful enough.

Macy: All right. Well, now what?

Sally: Macy, darling, I don't think there's very much we can do now. They know you're alive, and the ladies and gentlemen of the press are saying "welcome back to L.A."

[Phone ringing]

Darla: Well, should I get that?

Clarke: No!

Lorenzo: No! No.

Macy: Lorenzo, they're not going to give up.

Sally: She's right. I think we should take control of the situation. I think we should call a press conference of our own.

Lorenzo: What?

Macy: Listen, she's right. I mean, I can't keep this a secret anymore.

[Phone ringing] I've got to make a statement.

Lorenzo: No, not yet. I'll handle this.

[Phone ringing]

[Phone beeps]

Lorenzo: Hello?

Thorne: Lorenzo. I want to talk to Macy.

Lorenzo: Who is this?

Thorne: It's Thorne.

Lorenzo: She can't talk now. We have a situation here.

Thorne: Yeah, I know. I'm watching it on the news.

Lorenzo: It's on TV?

Darla: Oh, my god. Macy, there's a helicopter out there.

Thorne: You hear that, Lorenzo? That's Macy's future out there.

Lorenzo: You're wrong. She doesn't want this.

Macy: Lorenzo, who is that?

Lorenzo: It's Thorne.

Macy: Hello?

Thorne: Hey, mace.

Macy: Thorne, you are not going to believe what's going on here. It's just crazy!

Thorne: Well, that's your life, baby. That's what you were born to do.

Macy, I know you.

You can't live your life

in hiding.

Being holed up in some

fishing village,

singing for 20 people who

have no idea who you are.

Away from your family,

your friends, your fans. You're not going back to that, Macy. I know that's what Lorenzo wants, but it's not going to happen. 'Cause I won't let it.

Macy: Lorenzo is my husband.

Thorne: Well, not for long.

Macy: What does that mean?

Thorne: It means I love you. You hear that, Macy? I love you, and I'm not going to give up on you just because you're married.

I don't give a damn about that. You are the only thing that matters to me in this entire world.

Ridge: You're angry with me?

Bridget: You don't know what it's been like.

Ridge: I want to.

Bridget: No, you don't! You think talking about this is gonna make me feel better. It doesn't change anything, Ridge.

Ridge: So what, just forget it? Just turn the other way and pretend it doesn't matter? Is that what I should do?

Bridget: It's too hard, okay? What you're asking me to do, it's just too damn hard.

Ridge: Bridget, I'm not asking anything of you.

Bridget: You want to help?

Ridge: Yeah, if I can.

Bridget: And what if you can't?

Ridge: That's not an option. Look, you want to scream at me, you go ahead. You want to throw me out, you're welcome to try. But who else are you gonna talk to about this? Have you told anyone besides Massimo and mother?

Ridge: Not even C.J.?

Bridget: I was too ashamed.

Ridge: Oh, Bridget. You've got nothing to be ashamed of.

Bridget: I didn't see it.

Ridge: Who could have seen it? Who could have seen it? Who could have even imagined that this would happen?

Bridget: I can. I can. That's why I have to stay so busy. Because if I stop, if give myself a chance to think about it -- the betrayal.

Ridge: Oh, boy. I shouldn't have put you through this.

Bridget: No, you're right. I can't do this anymore. I can't fight it anymore. I'm so tired. I'm so tired.

Ridge: Oh, I know, sweetheart. We'll get through this together, you hear me? You were there for me when I needed someone to lean on. I'm gonna be here for you, okay? I don't care how long it takes. As long as you need me, I'll be there.

Bridget: Thank you.

Ridge: We'll get through it. We'll get through it.

[Bridget sobbing]

Bridget: Thank you. Thank you so much.
