Whip: I'm still in Paris. Things are going pretty well here.

Joy: You're enjoying yourself?

Whip: Well, we're trying to.

Joy: You and Brooke Logan.

Whip: Mom, why do you have to be like that?

Joy: Because I don't like it. This baby isn't yours, whip. You don't have to sacrifice your future to protect this woman from another scandal.

Whip: Don't you see? I'm not sacrificing anything, mother. That's what you don't understand. I'm not giving up my future for Brooke. My future is here. My future is with Brooke.

Brooke: I'm sorry, Deacon. I know you must be hurting. I am, too. But I had to leave Los Angeles. It was the only way I knew how to protect Bridget. It's over. It is over. And we both have to move on. But how?

Erica: Alisa? Pick up, it's Erica. I'm here. I made it.

Alisa: Erica? Oh, my god! You're in L.A.?

Erica: I sure am. Can you believe it?

Alisa: Have you found someplace to stay?

Erica: Not yet. I'm at the hospital right now.

Alisa: Well, have you seen Amber?

Erica: I have to find her first. I'm just going to start on the first floor and work my way up.

Alisa: Then what are you going to do? You can't just knock on her door. The Forresters are really famous. That place is probably crawling with bodyguards.

Erica: I'm here. I am in the same building as Amber Forrester. This may be my only chance to ever meet her. I can't chicken out now. Look, I'll call you later, okay?

Amber: Can't you do something? It hurts.

Nurse: Would you like me to call your doctor?

Amber: No. I need another pill.

Nurse: Your dose isn't for another half an hour.

Amber: I can't wait. Please. I'm in so much pain. I just -- I need a pill. I need it right now.

Nurse: Let me check with your doctor.

Nurse: Amber, Dr. Wilson wants you to have this.

Amber: What is this?

Nurse: It'll help with the pain. It'll help you rest.

Amber: Thank you.

Nurse: Just relax.

Joy: What do you mean? Brooke Logan is your future?

Whip: That's what I said. Someone has opened a door on me, Mom. There's a whole world behind it. I mean, all the things that I thought I wanted, they don't matter anymore. I love her, Mom.

Joy: Whipple, no.

Whip: I know it sounds crazy. But there's no other way to describe this connection. I think it's always been there. Brooke needs me, mother. She has to realize that.

Joy: Honey, if she doesn't want help --

Whip: Then I'm just gonna have to give her something more.

Joy: Whipple, what are you -- what are you talking about?

Whip: You'll find out soon enough. Listen, I got to go now. Wish me luck.

Joy: Wish you luck for what? Whip? Honey? What's going on with you?

Taylor: Well, if you want, I can always come back later and try to talk to Amber.

[ Rick sighs ]

Rick: I don't know. Don't get me wrong. I really appreciate your advice and your concern. You're a good psychiatrist, but you're also ridge's wife. Look, I didn't mean to blow up at ridge yesterday. He just said some things that he shouldn't have.

Erica: Oh, wow. It's him. It's Rick Forrester. He is so handsome. And that must be Taylor. Amber must be in that room. I hope she's okay. Rick looks kind of upset.

Rick: Look, I really have to focus on amber right now. We just lost our baby. I can't worry about anything else. I knew it. Forget it! Forget it! We're too late!

Amber: What? No!

Dr. Wilson: We warned you! I told you this was a high-risk pregnancy! I told you to get some rest! But, no -- no, you wouldn't listen!

Amber: Where's Rick?!

Nurse: I can't help you. No one can!

Dr. Wilson: You don't deserve this child. You're not worthy!

Amber: What do you mean?! I'm want to get my baby!

Dr. Wilson: It's too late, Amber!

Amber: No, no, no! No, I can do it! I'll push harder! I will! I'll do it!

Nurse: There is no baby.

Dr. Wilson: Your child is dead!

[ Amber screams ]

Amber: No, no!

Dr. Wilson: I warned you. This is your fault. You have no one to blame but yourself! This is your fault!

Nurse: Why didn't you listen? You killed your baby! You killed her!

Dr. Wilson: Your child is dead. This is your fault. You have no one to blame but yourself! This is your fault!

Nurse: Why didn't you listen? You killed your baby! You killed her!

[ Amber sobs ]

[ knock at door ]

Whip: Ah, bonjour, Madame. How are we this fine Parisian afternoon?

Brooke: Whip, I'm resting. I told you I didn't want to be disturbed.

Whip: Oh, I'm not here to disturb you, Brooke. On the contrary. I have a very pleasant surprise for you.

Erica:  Come on, Erica. You can do this. You're so close. You can't back out now.

Brooke: Whip, I'm really not in the mood for a surprise.

Whip: Oh, no? Well, then what are you in the mood for? A glass of wine? A walk along the champs elysee? Room service and a neck rub?

Brooke: I just want to be alone.

Whip: Oh, I see. It's a beautiful spring afternoon in Paris, but if you can't have Deacon, then you'd rather wallow in self-pity and hide away in this room.

Brooke: You know, I thought you came here to cheer me up.

Whip: And I thought you came here to start a new life.

Brooke: So now you're going to give me a lecture?

Whip: No, I'm just going to give you some advice. You're not a love sick teenager, Brooke. You're a confident, mature, sexy, extremely dynamic woman.

Brooke: "Mature"? I ran away from my family because I'm pregnant with my son-in-law's baby.

Whip: You're pregnant, and you're radiant -- at least you would be if you would just wipe that dour expression off of your face. I mean, I'm sorry to tell you this, sweetheart, but blue is just not your color. See? There. Doesn't that feel better?

Brooke: No. No. Happened to me. Take away your pain, I would do it. I admire you so much. And when I think about everything that you've been through and how hard you've worked to get where you are, it doesn't seem fair. I mean, this was your big moment. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's an awful tragedy. But you're a strong person -- a good person. And you have a lot of people pulling for you out there -- people who you don't even know.

Amber: Who are you?

Erica: My name is Erica Lovejoy.

Amber: What do you want, Erica? What are you doing here?

Erica: I'm sorry. No. Those are from me.

Amber: From you? I don't understand.

Erica: I came to see you, Amber -- Mrs.. Forrester.

Amber: Me?

Erica: Well, yeah. I've been reading about you for years, about your marriage to Rick, how you guys adopted little Eric, and your singing and now this collection. I mean, you're like my hero.

Amber: I'm no hero.

Erica: Yes, Amber. Yes, you are.

Whip: You know, Brooke, I do understand. I know what you're feeling.

Brooke: I really don't want to talk about it, Whip.

Whip: Fine, then just listen.

Brooke: No more lectures, okay?

Whip: No. No lectures. Just -- I just want to tell you a story, a story about a guy who wanted a relationship that he couldn't have. It's a relationship that's so important and so significant that it could have changed his entire life. It don't matter how much I wanted it, no matter how much I prayed for it, it just -- it never materialized. You see, Brooke, my father was a great man, and I am sure he loved me very much, even more than deacon loves you. But the fact is, he was too busy putting food on the table and keeping a roof over my head to get to know me. And I would have done anything for just an ounce of his attention. But it never happened. He died, and I was left with nothing, nothing but anger and an empty place in my heart that I thought I could never ever fill, and I know that's what you feel with deacon. There's nobody who can replace him, and that pain that you feel will never go away, but I'm here to tell you that it's not the truth.

Brooke: You know, I'm really sorry to hear about your father, but this is different.

Whip: No, Brooke, it isn't. You want something that you can't have, and you feel lonely, and you feel scared. And you feel like there's nobody who can replace him, and that you can't go on without him, but you will, and I want to be the one to help you.

Brooke: Why?

Whip: Because I owe you.

Brooke: For what?

Whip: For giving me what I thought that nobody could ever give me. That place in my heart, you have filled it. Helping you -- helping you has made me happy in a way that no one and nothing ever could. I am so grateful to know you, to have gotten to know you, to be a part of your life.

Brooke: I'm the one who should be grateful. You really have no reason to be indebted to me.

Whip: It's not debt I feel, Brooke. I love you. And I want you to be my wife.
