Brooke: I've never felt so much shame and guilt in my life. Pregnant by my daughter's husband.

Rick: Bridget is on her way.

Brooke: Well, I hope she's alone.

Amber: She is. Deacon's spending time with Eric.

Rick: Are you feeling any better?

Brooke: No.

Rick: Mom, we should really get you to a doctor.

[Doorbell rings]

Amber: That's Bridget. I'll get it.

Rick: Mom, I'm worried about you.

Brooke: Rick, please don't, okay?

Amber: Hi.

Bridget: So what's going on?

Rick: Yeah, what'd you want to talk to us about?

Brooke: Well, your father and I had a meeting, and that's what I need to discuss with you. Amber, if you don't mind, this really has nothing to do with you so --

Amber: Oh, that's okay. I'll work on my needlepoint for the baby.

Brooke: All right, let's sit down. So, your father suggested, and I agreed, that we do some estate planning. You may or may not know that there are serious tax consequences if I die and all of the assets are still in my name.

Bridget: Mom, you're not going to die.

Brooke: Honey, you never know what can happen in life. Sooner or later, everybody dies. Anyway, the 51% of the company, my share, which happens to be the most valuable asset that I have, that has to be dealt with. And that presents a problem.

Rick: What's the problem?

Brooke: Well, as you know, Ridge has worked for your father and I for many years, helping run the company. And to tell you the truth, I really couldn't have done it without him. And now, Eric and Stephanie are splitting up their shares, and Ridge is only going to get less than 10%.

Rick: That's all?

Brooke: Yes, that's all.

Bridget: Oh, he deserves more than that.

Rick: Yeah, I mean, can't Dad give him more?

Brooke: Well, your father really thinks that he is being fair here, splitting it up between the children that he has with Stephanie so that it's equal. And then, of course, you and Bridget will have that same percentage but you will split that.

Rick: Well, uh, I guess that sounds okay to me.

Brooke: Well, Ridge doesn't think that's okay.

Bridget: So, what are you saying, Mom? You want us to give Ridge some of ours?

Rick: Yeah, what exactly are you going at here?

Brooke: You know, I don't know. I don't know what I'm getting at. It's just that I have so much weighing on my mind right now, I can't even think about this. But I have to. We have to.

Taylor: Hi.

Ridge: Hey.

Taylor: Very nice.

Ridge: Yeah, and very ironic.

Taylor: Ah, here it is. "Ridge Forrester is the next generation of fashion." I don't call that ironic.

Ridge: If you just had the day I had, you would.

Taylor: Why? What happened?

Ridge: I had a very interesting meeting with Dad, Mother and Brooke.

Taylor: What about?

Ridge: They were discussing the future ownership of Forrester Creations.

Taylor: Really?

Ridge: Yeah, really.

Taylor: What, so Brooke decided to give some of her stock back?

Ridge: No, she's gonna transfer it, as are Mother and Dad.

Taylor: What, they're transferring it?

Ridge: It's all pretty complicated. They're doing it for tax reasons.

Taylor: So, then they are transferring it to you and your siblings?

Ridge: Yeah.

Taylor: Wow. Then that means that I'm married to the new owner of Forrester Creations.

Eric: Look at you. You look beautiful. So relaxed.

Stephanie: I'm so happy that you're here. Tell us all about it.

Kristen: Mother, it was unbelievable. You have all these preconceptions about Africa, but nothing measures up to the sheer scope of the place. It's beautiful, it's magnificent. I mean, I can't even begin to describe it.

Tony: Yeah, but the 20 rolls of film that she took ought to help.

Stephanie: So, where are they?

Kristen: They're in the camera bag.

Eric: Oh, oh, oh.

Stephanie: Eric, get them, let's look. You know how I am about pictures. They are all gonna look like postcards.

Stephanie: This is beautiful.

Eric: It's like a postcard, look at that.

Stephanie: Is this sunrise or sunset?

Eric: Wow.

Kristen: That was at sunrise.

Eric: That's beautiful.

Stephanie: Did the trip tire you out? How are you feeling, Tony?

Tony: Oh, I feel great.

Eric: Was it hard to keep up with your medication?

Tony: I couldn't miss a day of treatment even if I tried. I mean, your daughter really keeps on top of me.

Stephanie: Oh, who's this?

Ridge: Yeah, I'm the new owner of Forrester Creations, all right.

Taylor: Which means, we'll be having tax problems of our own? Is that what you're worried about?

Ridge: No, doc.

Taylor: Then what's the matter?

Ridge: I'll only be one of the owners of Forrester.

Taylor: Well, Ridge, you do have siblings. Were you expecting more?

Ridge: You think I'm being greedy?

Taylor: Okay, look. Look, honey, I know that you've put your heart and your soul into this company --

Ridge: Do you think I'm expecting too much?

Taylor: Maybe.

Ridge: Let me ask you -- what do you think I deserve?

Taylor: I don't know, 30%, 40% -- 40%

Ridge: Try a whopping 9.8%.

Taylor: 9.8%?

Ridge: They should've just given me soap on a rope.

Taylor: Who came up with that number?

Ridge: Dad's trying to divide it up equally. So, Thorne, Kristen, Felicia and I each get 20% of his share. Rick and Bridget get 10% each.

Taylor: Wait a minute. They're already getting their share from Brooke.

Ridge: Bingo! Which means the majority owner of Forrester Creations, of all people, will be Rick and Bridget.

Brooke: So how would you feel about that? Giving Ridge some of the stock that would potentially be yours?

Rick: Well, you know, the guy practically lives and breathes Forrester Creations.

Bridget: Yeah, did you see that article in "eye on fashion" about him?

Brooke: It was very flattering.

Bridget: And true. I mean, there's no doubt this company wouldn't be were it is now without Ridge.

Rick: Yeah, you're right. It was Ridge and Dad's couture lines that gave Forrester Creations its reputation. I don't know, Mom. What do you think?

Brooke: Well, I think that Ridge deserves more than 9.8% of the company.

Rick: Are you sure? You don't sound too convincing.

Brooke: I told you, honey, I'm just really wiped out.

Bridget: Mom, what is going on with you?

Brooke: It's really nothing that either one of you should be concerned about. So I take it you're both okay with me giving Ridge some of your stock?

Rick: Well, Mom, this is your company, so it's your decision to make.

Bridget: Yeah, why don't you just do what you think is best.

Brooke: All right, then I'll call Ridge and have him come over later. And in the meantime, I really need to just take it easy for a while.

Bridget: Hey, are you sure you don't want me to stay?

Brooke: No, no, I'm fine.

Bridget: Mom --

Brooke: Really, Bridget, I'm fine, okay? I'll talk to you later.

Bridget: Okay. Something's going on with her. We've got to find out what it is.

Taylor: You're telling me that Bridget and Rick are going to be running Forrester Creations?

Ridge: Brooke will still be CEO. Technically, they'll have controlling interest.

Taylor: That's -- that's not right.

Ridge: Yeah, no kidding.

Taylor: And your parents are okay with this?

Ridge: Mother's not okay at all with it. Dad -- sometimes I just don't get him.

Taylor: Well, I guess he's just trying to be fair.

Ridge: Fair to everyone but me.

Taylor: And the company, Ridge, because you built it. You should be running it. I don't know why your father doesn't see that.

Ridge: He wants to put me in charge. Without that stock, I'm just a figurehead. Rick and Bridget can still do whatever the hell they want.

Taylor: You think they would?

Ridge: That's not the point, doc. I can't run a family business if I only own 9% of the stock. Besides, haven't I earned this? Haven't I proven myself? This seems like such an insult to me.

Taylor: Try not to take this personally.

Ridge: I am taking it personally. Because I feel -- I feel betrayed by my own father.

Taylor: In a way, I can see this from his point of view. He does have five other children.

Ridge: And a business they all depend on. A business he created from scratch. Even if he doesn't care about me, if he cares at all about Forrester he's got to give me the muscle to do the job.

Taylor: Ridge, I hope you're not questioning the way he feels about you.

Ridge: I can't help but question it, Taylor. My entire professional career I've deferred to him. He was my mentor. He's been grooming me for this position ever since I was a kid. And now -- I mean how can he expect me to accept this, huh?

Taylor: Honey, I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Ridge: Maybe I should start my own company.

Taylor: Look, just give this a couple of days, all right?

Ridge: It's not going to change Dad's mind. I'm telling you, Taylor, when I look at that man now, it's different. It feels almost like he's not even my father.

Rick: When's deacon bringing Eric back?

Amber: Later tonight. Rick, can I talk to you about something? What's the matter?

Rick: Mom's really a mess, isn't she?

Amber: She's probably just coming down with the flu or something.

Rick: You know, I hope that's all it is. She hasn't acted like this in years.

Amber: Yeah, well, she's certainly not thinking clearly, I can tell you that.

Rick: What do you mean?

Amber: What happened tonight in the living room, it's what I wanted to talk to you about.

Rick:  And what about it?

Amber: Rick, are you aware of what you agreed to do?

Rick: I'm not too sure I'm following you, Amber.

Amber: Forrester Creations, what your mom wants to do with her stock.

Rick: Oh, you mean giving a part of it to Ridge.

Amber: A part of it? How big of a part?

Rick: However much she feels he deserves.

Amber: Well, whether or not he deserves it isn't the issue. She's giving away your future, and you just agreed to it.

Rick: Well, Amber, I'm still going to own part of the company. And it's not like Mom's gonna retire anytime soon.

Amber: I don't care when she retires. Do you really want to give up the option of running Forrester someday?

Rick: That's not what I'm doing.

Amber: Yes, you are. If Ridge takes everything, then you'll never be CEO.

Rick: You know, Amber, Ridge has been working at Forrester practically his entire life.

Amber: That's only because he's older than you are. Let me ask you a question -- what are you studying in college?

Rick: Business.

Amber: Why is that? Because you want to be fashion designer?

Rick: Of course not.

Amber: No, no, because that's Ridge's thing. See, you are the business man in this family. See, Rick, Forrester Creations, they need you. It's your birthright to run this company someday.

Rick: But I already agreed to let Mom give Ridge some of the stock.

Amber: Yeah, but you can still change your mind. And, honey, there are more people to consider here. Like Eric and our unborn child. Do you really think they'd want you handing their company over to Ridge?

Stephanie: Kristen?

Kristen: I'm sorry, Mom.

Stephanie: Who's the little boy?

Kristen: An orphan that we met in Africa. The tragic side of Africa.

Stephanie: You visited an orphanage while you were there?

Tony: Yes, it was for children whose parents died of AIDS.

Kristen: There were millions of them, Mother. Beautiful children. And they're no different than any other child. They just -- they want to be loved and cherished and to laugh and play.

Eric: And this little boy is one of them?

Kristen: Yeah. His name is Zende. And he is so polite and so sweet. He is everything you'd want in a 10-year-old.

Stephanie: Sounds like he captured your heart.

Kristen: Yeah. Yeah, he did.

[Phone rings]

Ridge: Hello?

Brooke: Hi, Ridge, it's Brooke.

Ridge: Yeah, Logan?

Brooke: The kids and I have been talking and we've all decided to give you some of their ownership interest in the company. Are you there?

Ridge: Yeah, I don't know what to say.

Brooke: Well, you could say thank you.

Ridge: Yes, right. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Brooke: Okay, well, why don't you and Taylor come over and we'll sign the papers.

Ridge: Okay. When?

Brooke: Well, give me an hour or so to rest. I just -- I'm really tired.

Ridge: You sound really tired. Is everything okay, Logan?

Brooke: Yeah, everything's okay, as good as to be expected. I'll see you later.

Ridge: Okay. Yes!

Amber: You have to think about that, our children. And you are letting your mother give away a piece of their company.

Rick: I'm gonna talk to Ridge about this.

Amber: Well, what do you want to do that for?

Rick: Maybe we can work something out.

Amber: Honey, you know what he wants. Ridge wants controlling interest in Forrester Creations. You're either going to help him get it or you're not.

Rick: Well, maybe we can work out a deal where he ends up with just as much of the company as we have.

Amber: What's that going to accomplish?

Rick: It'll keep peace in the family.

Amber: Oh, what if Ridge just turns around and goes to Kristen or Felicia and asks for some of their shares? Then he has more than anybody.

Rick: I will ask him not to do that.

Amber: Rick, you're not being realistic. Ridge wants to be in charge, and to do that, he has to own more of the company than anyone else. Look, I know you want to be a good guy, but there are times in life where you have to be tough, and right now is one of those times.

Rick: Ridge isn't going to like this.

Amber: So you're doing this to appease him?

Rick: No.

Amber: Then why? Honey, all I'm worried about is you. You and our kids. You know, someday they're gonna ask us why their uncle Ridge owns their company. What are we going to tell them?

Ridge: Unbelievable.

Taylor: Who was that on the phone?

Ridge: Brooke. Listen to this one. She's giving me a chunk of the company.

Taylor: Really? How much?

Ridge: I don't know, but I've got a good feeling about this.

Taylor: Well, that's great. Why is she doing it?

Ridge: I don't know, but I know Rick and Bridget are in favor of it.

Taylor: See? Things turn out the way they're supposed to.

Ridge: Yeah, looks like the future of Forrester is back in my hands.

Amber: Rick, I'm not going to tell you what to do. But you are Eric Forrester junior and your son is Eric Forrester the third. This is your company, your future. If you hand it over to Ridge, I guarantee you, someday you will regret it. And I just don't want to see that happen to you.
