[Phone rings]

Kristen: Hello?

Tony: Guess who loves you?

Kristen: Hi.

Tony: You just waking up?

Kristen: Yeah.

Tony: Guess what today is? It's the day we've been waiting for.

Kristen: Oh, Tony, I feel so blessed. What about the wedding dress?

Tony: Well, what about it?

Kristen: Well, don't you need me to try it on?

Tony: You don't worry about the dress and leave everything to me.

Kristen: Tony --

Tony: I'll see you at the altar. Love you.

Stephanie: I hope those are happy thoughts filling your mind.

Eric: What a difference a day makes, hmm?

Stephanie: It certainly does.

Eric: I never would have thought in my wildest dreams that I would feel this way about all this.

Stephanie: Are you sure you've really accepted this?

Eric: I think I really have. Father Rivera was right. Our time to protect our daughter is over.

Stephanie: Yes, it is, darling. It's up to her and her husband from now on.

Eric: I think she's in pretty good hands.

Sally: Darla, I want Antonio to see how this dress fits. Well, matador, what's the emergency?

Tony: Good. I'm glad you guys are here. I need your input.

Darla: On what?

Tony: On this.

Darla: Oh, my! [Speaking Spanish]

Tony: I think it's graceful. It's elegant, just like Kristen. Do you think she'll like it?

Liliana: She'll love it. You wait until she comes in for the fitting.

Tony: Oh, no. She's not going to see it until she gets to the chapel.

Darla: Oh, God, Tony, come on. I know you're this big, hot shot designer and all, but trust me, Kristen is going to want to try this on.

Tony: Well, it's not the fit that I'm worried about. What I'm worried about is if she's gonna like it. I know it's gonna fit her like a glove, because I know her body like my own body, but I need to make sure that she will like it before she walks down the aisle.

Liliana: Tony, she loves you. Believe me, she will love this dress.

Tony: I need to make sure for sure.

Eduardo: And how are you going to do that, son?

Tony: I'm gonna ask you for your help, Poppy. [Laughter]

Clarke: This is insane. This man has HIV. Are these people out of their minds? I can't let her do it. I can't let her marry him. I've got to stop this wedding.

Eric: I wonder if Kristen's awake.

Stephanie: More importantly, I wonder if she ever got any sleep.

Eric: Boy, I really have some fences to mend there, don't I?

Stephanie: No, you don't, honey. She adores you.

Eric: Yeah, well, I hardly deserve that.

Kristen: Yes, you do, Dad.

Eric: I don't know what to say.

Kristen: Well, say what you've always said. You just want what's best for me.

Eric: That's true.

Kristen: I know. I know. Good morning, mother.

Stephanie: Hi, darling. Well, here it is -- the big day.

Kristen: I know. The biggest.

Stephanie: How do you feel?

Kristen: Well, I'm nervous and excited and everything. Look, I have something I need to do before the wedding.

Stephanie: Is it something that I can do for you?

Kristen: Actually, no. This is something I really need to do for myself. Okay?

Eric: Honey, honey -- before you go, your mother and I couldn't be happier for you. I mean that.

Kristen: I know you do.

Eric: You're getting an amazing man there.

Stephanie: Well, all right. I'll run the risk of being a proud parent. He's getting one hell of a woman.

Kristen: Thank you, both of you. No one could be more prepared for what lies ahead than I am, and it's because of the strength that you two have given me. I'm gonna make you proud.

Eric: You already have, honey.

Stephanie: Oh, get out of here. Go run that mysterious errand, would you, please?

Kristen: Okay, I'll see you at the chapel.

Stephanie: Yes, yes, yes.

Eduardo: Are you sure about this, son?

[Tony speaking Spanish]

Liliana: Antonio, why don't you just bring your bride in and have her try on the wedding gown? That is the way it is traditionally done.

Tony: Because you know, Mommy, that I never do things the way that they're supposed to be done.

Eduardo: This is Tony's wedding. We'll do it his way.

Darla: Okay, Tone, so when are you gonna put this plan into motion?

Tony: Right now. Poppy, let's go to the church.

Sally: All right. Will you please just relax? There's no need to go rushing around. Everything is gonna be fine. You're gonna show the dress to your bride-to-be, she's gonna love it. But if for some reason she doesn't, then she can get married in blue jeans, for all any of us care. Because this wedding is going to take place today, and nothing and no one is going to stop it.

Tony: Sally, you make it sound like Kristen's marrying your own son.

Sally: I almost feel like you are my son. All right. Now, everybody, please get out of here and let me finish my work. Darla, you keep an eye on that boy.

Darla: Yes, ma'am.

[Tony speaking Spanish]

[Knock on door]

Clarke: Eric, I need to talk to you.

Eric: Clarke, my daughter's getting married today.

Clarke: I know, and I'm as concerned as you are. We gotta stop this, but I have an idea.

Eric: You do, huh?

Clarke: Yes. But you have a plan, too, but listen up. This one is great, okay? I've got this friend. He's gay, quite flamboyant. And for a fee, for $10,000, he will stand up at the wedding and make an announcement.

Eric: An announcement?

Clarke: That Tony did not contract HIV from his old girlfriend. He got it from a man. Ingenious, don't you think? That will stop Kristen right in her tracks.

Sally: Kristen! What are you doing here?

Kristen: I have a favor to ask you.

Sally: A favor? Oh, of course. I will be happy to do you a favor anywhere, okay? But not now, because now we have to get you to the church. And what are you doing here anyway? Who's taking care of you? Who's taking care of business for you? A bride should not have to go around paying social calls and running errands on her wedding day.

Kristen: Yes, I agree. And that's the favor I wanted to ask you.

Sally: I see. Well, gracias, and we'll do that favor later.

Kristen: Sally, will you shut up a minute?

Sally: Well, I will shut up for 30 seconds. Now, come on. What is it? Out with it.

Kristen: Well, thank you. I need a maid of honor, and since you are already on the job, I was thinking we could make it official.

Tony: Bride's dressing room. Guys, put everything down. Poppy, help me with the dress. Darla, stand outside and warn us if Kristen's coming.

Darla: You want me to stall her?

Tony: Yes. Don't let her come in here.

Darla: Okay.

Eduardo: You are crazy. Well, what can I expect? You're my son. [Laughter]

Sally: Kristen, you are asking me to be your maid of honor?

Kristen: It would mean a lot to me, Sally.

Sally: My darling girl, it would mean a lot to me, too. And I am very flattered and very, very touched by this. But I cannot imagine why you would want me.

Kristen: Because this wedding wouldn't even be happening if it wasn't for you.

Sally: Oh, I don't think that's true. I think you and Antonio would have found each other in spite of everything. I think it was written in the stars.

Kristen: But you were the only one who was able to read those stars. You were the only one we could count on when everyone else was against us. I admit that I thought maybe this had something to do with this ongoing war between you and my parents. Then I realized that you really did believe in us.

Sally: Kristen, can I be absolutely honest with you?

Kristen: Yes.

Sally: When you first started seeing Antonio, I didn't believe in you at all. As a matter of fact, I was totally opposed to it, because I thought you would hurt Antonio. I thought you would interfere with his wonderful career he was going to have. And then when I realized that you were meant to be together, I changed my mind, I changed my thinking. That was the moment when I became your champion. That was the moment when I decided that I was going to protect you and Antonio and your love against all the odds, even if it cost me everything I had.

Kristen: Protecting a Forrester? That's quite a switch, huh?

Sally: Yeah. Now, whatever you do, don't tell anybody in the fashion industry, because I've got a reputation to maintain here, you know?

Kristen: You see, that's what I mean about you, Sally. You're always open to the possibilities in life. I want to be like that.

Sally: Oh.

Kristen: I need to be more like that, especially with Tony. If I live my life the way the world thinks I ought to live my life, then I will just be miserable, and so will Tony. The only hope that we have is to create our own definition of marriage and fulfillment. And we're going to do it. And we're going to do it because of people like you. So, how about it? Maid of honor?

Sally: Maid of honor. Nah, no, no. I don't think so, honey. Matron of honor, okay? Because, my darling girl, I have not been a maiden since junior high school.

Kristen: Oh, thank you, Sally. Thank you. Matron of honor. [Laughter] [Phone rings]

Sally: Excuse me.

Kristen: Of course.

Sally: Sally Spectra.

Tony: Sally, it's me. Listen, just say yes or no. Is Kristen with you?

Sally: Yes.

Tony: All right, listen, send her over to the chapel and put her in the bride's dressing room. But don't tell her it's me on the phone.

Sally: Right. Listen, I really can't deal with that right now. You're gonna have to tell the people at the International Fashion Awards I'll have to talk to them next week, all right? Terribly busy. Bye-bye.

Tony: She's on her way. Poppy, I need her to like this dress.

Eduardo: Tony, Tony, it doesn't matter if she doesn't like the dress. She loves you. She's not marrying a dress today.

Tony: No, but she's marrying a designer whose crowning achievement is right here. Now, I need her to like this dress. I need her to love this dress.

Stephanie: Clarke?

Clarke: Hello, Stephanie.

Stephanie: What brings you by?

Eric: He's come up with a plan to stop the wedding.

Stephanie: What?

Clarke: Stephanie, I know you don't feel about this the same way that Eric and I do, but Tony is a disaster waiting to happen. And it's up to the men who really love Kristen to do something about it.

Stephanie: Well, what have you got in mind?

Eric: Well, that's the best part. Wait till you hear. Look, here's the plan. Clarke wants to come to the chapel today with a friend of his -- a gay friend of his.

Clarke: Who will stand up at just the right moment and announce that Tony contracted HIV from him, not from Ellen. That'll put a stop to this.

Stephanie: Why would you do something like that? I mean, why would you even buy into stereotypes of that sort?

Clarke: Look, there's a lot of power in prejudice. And it's gonna work for us here. Eric, tell her.

Eric: I'm sorry, Clarke, I can't do that.

Clarke: Why not?

Stephanie: I had no idea you were this jealous of Tony.

Clark: Of course I'm jealous. You're talking about your future son-in-law here.

Stephanie: My -- Clarke, I don't know what's going through your mind. But I want to tell you something -- if you show up at that chapel today with some cockamamie scheme like this, you'll have me to deal with. Do you understand?

Clarke: Eric, help me out here. Tell her.

Eric: Look, you need to understand what's happening. My daughter is marrying Tony today. And I'm gonna be his best man.

Clarke: What?

Eric: I finally saw the light, Clarke. And I'm just sorry it took me so long. But you're gonna have to accept the fact that Kristen is marrying Tony.

Clarke: Eric, we're gonna lose her. Tony marries her, she's gonna get AIDS.

Stephanie: Clarke? Clarke, these are grown people. They've made a decision. You've got to accept it. You just have to. Now, please, leave. I don't want you to spoil the day for us. Please?

[Door slams shut]

Darla: Oh, you guys, Kristen just arrived with Sally.

Tony: Did they see you?

Darla: Oh, no, no.

Tony: All right, everybody, hide.

Kristen: Sally, I don't want to disappoint him, but this is my wedding dress. And I've never even seen it. What if I don't like the style?

Sally: Darling, I think you will have the answer to your question in just a few seconds.

Kristen: It's beautiful. It is just beautiful.

Sally: It works for me.

Kristen: I look at this dress and I can just feel his love. It's as though he made it with his heart.

Tony: He did. Every stroke of the pen, every cut of the fabric came from here. So you like it?

Kristen: I love it. And I will wear it with so much pride today. [Sally thinking]

Sally: I know that there are marriages of the heart and marriages of the mind, but I have never seen a marriage quite like this one. When a man and a woman start out with so many challenges and, yet, so much love, it makes you wonder. I stood in the glow of these two young people knowing that something incredible and miraculous was unfolding before us. And great and powerful things were ahead for these two. And no power on earth was going to stand in their way.
