[Knock on the door]
Stephanie: I'm sorry I walked out on you last night.
Massimo: No apology needed. So -- you intended to take this secret to the grave?
Massimo: It happened that night in lake Geneva, didn't it?
Massimo: And all these years, never once did you suspect that it could've been my child and not Eric's?
Stephanie: Well, as a woman, I -- certain things transpire with the female body. I was very certain, so I never gave it another thought.
Massimo: I loved you. And you loved me. Did you give that a thought?
Stephanie: Mass, there wasn't a girl at the university who didn't love you. And I loved Eric. And he was kind, ambitious, focused, caring.
Massimo: Mm-hmm. All the things that I wasn't.
Stephanie: Well, you were still a playboy, weren't you?
Massimo: You were as much a rebel as I was, Stephanie. And I told you how much I wanted you.
Stephanie: Can we both just agree to agree that what happened that night was a foolish mistake?
Massimo: Really? And the product of this "foolish mistake," Ridge, would you trade him for anything in the world?
Megan: You really don't plan on seeing Deacon again?
Brooke: Not after today.
Megan: You know, that seems kind of a shame. I mean, after what you told me last night --
Brooke: Megan, we were two ships passing in the night. We stopped. We touched. And now we both have lives to live.
Megan: But there was a connection. There was this very strong connection.
Brooke: A very strong physical connection, period.
Megan: That's all it was? Brooke, you said he was sensitive, that you saw a different side to him.
Brooke: I'm sure you're not suggesting that I should be taking up with Deacon Sharpe.
Megan: I've known you a long time, Brooke. And I can tell your lying to me. You're lying to yourself. There's a lot more going on here than you're willing to admit.
Bridget: How do you feel?
Deacon: I feel like the luckiest man in the world.
Bridget: It's pretty unbelievable, isn't it?
Deacon: Hmm. I bring you up here to end our marriage. We wind up more married than ever, huh?
Bridget: I think that is called growing pains, Deacon.
Deacon: How did you get so smart?
Bridget: Just because I'm young doesn't mean I'm stupid. I know what we have. I never questioned it.
Deacon: Even after everything I put you through?
Bridget: Especially after everything you put me through. I know so much of it is my mother's fault.
Deacon: All right. Let's just not go there.
Bridget: You know, I bet she thinks we broke up last night.
Deacon: That's all right. I'll take care of it.
Bridget: Are you gonna talk to her?
Bridget: No. You know what, honey? I can do it.
Deacon: No, actually -- I actually think -- I think I wanna handle that. I have to get her to realize that this is what I want, Bridget. That this is -- this is all I want.
Bridget: You've changed so much, Deacon.
Deacon: You made some good points last night. That I've been letting people pull my strings. I've been letting people tell me what to do. You know, I look back on it, and I just -- it seems so obvious to me. I feel like such an idiot. This is exactly where I should've been all along. With you -- with my beautiful, precious wife.
Bridget: What about her?
Bridget: The woman -- you slept with.
Deacon: Bridget, listen to me. That is over. It's done. Okay, that will never, ever happen again. I promise. That's history.
Bridget: Well, what if she thinks it's more?
Deacon: She doesn't. She doesn't want more. I'm certain of that. Baby, I have never been more committed to you than I am right at this moment. Please believe that.
Stephanie: This isn't going to get us anywhere.
Massimo: Look. All I'm trying to say here is that of all your children, you're closest to Ridge.
Stephanie: That isn't true. I love my children equally. I mean, as much as a mother can. If you want to believe that there's a special bond between me and Ridge, fine. But are you suggesting --
Massimo: Look, he is our child. Yours and mine. That's what makes him special. All these years, the one thing I wanted more than anything in life was to share a child with the woman that I loved. You were that woman, Stephanie. And you sensed it, too, didn't you? You knew. You knew without knowing -- just as I did back then. Do you remember, Stephanie? I had this feeling about the pregnancy, but you wouldn't even let me discuss it because you were absolutely sure that it was Eric's. And I had to respect that. But you were wrong. Oh, my God. The one time in my life that I ignored my instincts. God! All these years, do you realize that we could've been together if we had known the truth, what we would have been spared? We were robbed. Stephanie, we were robbed! Well, that's not gonna go on any longer. I can tell you that. We're gonna start our life together right now -- you, me and our son.
Bridget: Can I fix you some breakfast?
Deacon: The old macaroni and cheese? That's tempting. But I think we better be heading down the mountain.
Bridget: You're pretty surprised by this, aren't you?
Deacon: About what?
Bridget: Your feelings for me.
Deacon: Hey, Bridget, I always had feelings for you. I just had to come to
Bridget: Acknowledge them?
Deacon: Yeah. Besides, I wasn't sure your feelings for me were gonna last.
Bridget: Why not?
Deacon: 'Cause you've got so much goin' on. I supposed, probably, I figured you were just attracted to the image -- you know, the bad boy, the older guy, slightly older guy. And sooner or later, it'd wear off. And when it did, then what? Then you got two very different people . You got a girl with a lot of class and a guy with --
Bridget: Stop, stop. Sounds like I'm hearing my mother again. God, honey, she really got to you, didn't she?
Deacon: Yeah, she did.
Bridget: Well, then why don't we go back to L.A. and tell her how it's gonna be from now on?
Brooke: Deacon is married to my daughter.
Megan: Was married. That's over as of last night.
Brooke: And she's going to need her mother's support. I can't very well give her that if I'm involved with her ex. Look, I don't even know why we're talking about this. Deacon and I had already agreed to end it.
Megan: I'm amazed at the way you're trying to fight this, Brooke. Look, Bridget is in college. She'll be over this guy in, like, a month. But you, on the other hand --
Brooke: Me, what?
Megan: It's obvious that Deacon had an impact on you.
Brooke: Yes, he did. He had an impact. He was very tender, and he was very passionate. And I still can't believe the kind of chemistry that we shared. He gave me hope.
Brooke: Hope that there was another man out there for me besides Ridge. And I will always be thankful to Deacon for that.
Megan: But what if that man is Deacon?
Brooke: No, that can never be. It would be only be hurtful to my daughter, and I couldn't let that happen.
Megan: I don't know. It's just -- it's so sad. You finally meet someone that you have a true connection with, and it's the one person in the world you're forbidden to share a life with.
Brooke: Well, he was very special. I can't deny that. But he wasn't the right man for me. And he certainly isn't the right man for my daughter. And I'm sure she's figured that out by now.
Massimo: Come. You and I are gonna go to Forrester creations right now.
Stephanie: And do what?
Massimo: We are gonna sit Eric and Ridge down.
Stephanie: No, we're not, mass.
Massimo: They have got to be told the truth.
Stephanie: No, they don't.
Massimo: Ridge is my son! Our son!
Stephanie: Yes, biologically. But in every other respect, Eric is his father.
Massimo: Because I didn't know.
Stephanie: Mass, there is nothing to be done about it now.
Massimo: Yes, there is. We tell him. I can still be a father.
Stephanie: He has a father. A father that he loves. A father that he worships. If you want to do something for your son, something that's truly unselfish, you'll leave it as it is.
Bridget: Wait, wait. That's for good luck.
Deacon: All right. You're gonna wait in the car, right?
Bridget: I'll be around.
Deacon: Bridget, you gotta let me deal with your mother alone.
Bridget: Just go. Get it over with.
Deacon: Yeah, get it over with. A little extra good luck, huh?
Bridget: Oh, he's gonna need help.
Deacon: Hello, Brooke.
Brooke: Where's Bridget?
Deacon: She's in the car.
Brooke: Is she all right?
Deacon: She's -- she's fine.
Brooke: Well, tell me what happened. How did she react?
Deacon: Uh, look, Brooke, I --
Brooke: Deacon, you did tell Bridget you're going to be leaving her, didn't you?
Bridget: Yes, Mom, he did.
Deacon: Bridget, what are you doing here?
Bridget: He did ask me for a divorce, Mom. But then he changed his mind. We're gonna make this marriage work. We're more in love than ever.
Massimo: You know how I feel about family. I don't even know how you could ask me to do something like this.
Stephanie: There are times in life when we're given the opportunity to do the right thing. This is the right thing to do, mass.
Massimo: It is right for a man not to know his real father?
Brooke: Ridge has always looked up to Eric as his father. Think of what it would do to him. Think of what it would do to Eric.
Massimo: What about me? What it's doing to me?
Stephanie: I know what it's doing to you. It's hurting you deeply.
Massimo: Look, I have no intention of coming between Eric and Ridge. But it's my duty, it's my responsibility to tell that young man of his true paternity. Could you expect anything less of me? Stephanie, I have a son who hates me, who despises me, who thinks I am the enemy.
Stephanie: And do you think the truth is going to change that?
Massimo: He's still young. We've got years to repair our relationship.
Stephanie: No! I'm not going to allow it. I'm not. It would devastate Ridge. It would kill Eric. So I'm asking you to keep this between us. I'm expecting that you will do that. Mass, if you ever tell anyone -- believe me when I say this -- I will never see you or speak to you again as long as I live. I know it isn't fair. But, you know, life isn't fair. We're gonna protect Ridge.
Massimo: You're asking me to protect my son by never being a father to him.
Stephanie: You can be a very good father by letting him continue his life as he knows it.
Massimo: Meaning, I have no hope of ever being what every man wants to be to his son -- a source of wisdom, an inspiration to his son. You know, Stephanie, I've learned a lot of things in my life -- about people, relationships, friends, enemies. You know, I used to always fantasize how I would teach these things to my son. And as the years went by -- the biggest sorrow that I've ever had in my life -- aside from losing you -- was that I did not have a son that I could impart this wisdom to, no son to carry on my name. And now -- now I find out that there is a young man with my blood running in his veins. Mine and yours! It's always been my dream, Stephanie, to share a child with you. And by some miracle, it's happened. And now you're asking me to put all of this aside, to give up the greatest gift I could ask for. I would have given my entire fortune to raise a son with you. Nothing -- nothing would've fulfilled me more. Look, there's gotta be some way, some course of action that we could take to get what we should always have had. I mean, a chance to be together, as a family.
Stephanie: No. No. I see how much you want this. I know how much you want this. But it's not going to happen. It breaks my heart to see you this way. But this is something that you and I are going to carry to our graves.
