(The show started a little late due to a plane crash in New York. )

Stephanie: You to say something like that, suggest that my husband is not the father of my son in a public room?!

Dr. Fetter: I apologize. Like I said before, there must be some sort of mistake.

Stephanie: Damn right there is! Maybe it's a clerical error.

Dr. Fetter: Look, I have your husband's file right here. It turns out Mr. Forrester has given blood before.

Stephanie: Yes?

Dr. Fetter: They made a copy of his card with the blood type right there in the corner. It's the same as what our tests showed.

Stephanie: So if he's that type, and I'm an "o" --

Dr. Fetter: Are you sure about that?

Stephanie: I am sure, doctor.

Dr. Fetter: Look, I'm not trying to upset you.

Stephanie: Well, you're doing a damn good job of it.

Dr. Fetter: It's just that, you see, a man and a woman with your two blood types couldn't possibly produce a son with Ridge's. You see, Mrs.. Forrester, if the information that you're giving me is correct

Stephanie: Yes?

Dr. Fetter: -- Mr. Forrester couldn't possibly be Ridge's father.

Eric: How's he doing?

Taylor: No change. I really need to call and check on the kids.

Thorne: Go ahead, okay? We'll stay here with him, Taylor. He's going to be okay, Dad.

Eric: You heard what the doctor said. He's lost all of his blood. There may be brain damage.

Thorne: But that's not going to happen.

Eric: We don't know that, Thorne. We're not going to know that until he wakes up. And then, when he does, he'll -- he might not even be Ridge anymore. I have already lost my son.

**********************************************************************

Stephanie: Dr. Fetter, you're wrong. You don't know what you're talking about. Believe me when I tell you there is absolutely no way that Ridge is not Eric's son, so I don't want you going around and saying anything about this to anyone -- nobody else at this hospital. Do you understand?

Dr. Fetter: I don't intend to discuss this with anyone. This is your business.

Stephanie: Fine. Now, there are always exceptions to things in life, aren't there? So somewhere, there must be a medical exception to this blood combination that you're talking about.

Dr. Fetter: Look, Mrs.. Forrester, you're upset. Let's just put this aside for now.

Stephanie: No, we can't put this aside, doctor. You opened it up.

Dr. Fetter: Well, why not? Especially if it couldn't be true. But that's not the situation, is it?

Stephanie: You're wrong. Don't you understand that? You are wrong. You're wrong!

[monitor beeping]

Eric: I was talking to your mother tonight about -- about taking people for granted. About assuming the people that you love are always going to be there, nothing's going to change. You're always going to have a chance to tell them how you feel about them.

Thorne: He knows, Dad. We all do. It never hurts to say it again. I'm going to go check on Taylor, see how she's doing, okay? He's going to be fine.

Eric: Ridge? Your dad's here, my boy. I want you to hear because I want you to know that. I want you to know that your dad's here and that I'm watching out for you. You're a father now, so you know what it's like to have one of your kids hurt and not be able to do a damn thing about it except sit and wait, hope. You're the only person here who really understands what I'm feeling. It's been true for a while now, hasn't it? Whenever I've needed to talk to somebody who understands and somebody who looks at the world the same way I do, I turn to you, don't I? Even more than your mother. Don't tell her that. I don't want to lose that. I don't want to lose my best friend.

Thorne: Dad!

Eric: Yeah?

***************************************************************

Dr. Fetter: Mrs. Forrester, if there was someone else, nobody needs to know.

Stephanie: Oh, stop it! Do you realize what you're insinuating? That I've been lying to my husband all these years. I mean, that's -- I am telling you that Eric is Ridge's father. Doctor, I wasn't pregnant when I started to date him.

Dr. Fetter: You took a test?

Stephanie: I didn't have to take a test.

Dr. Fetter: Mrs. Forrester, you are aware of the fact that a woman can be pregnant and still menstruate.

Stephanie: Oh, geez. This is just insane. We did a whole battery of paternity tests.

Dr. Fetter: You tested Ridge's paternity?

Stephanie: No, not -- no, not Ridge's. I'm going to tell you this in confidence. There was a question of paternity of a little girl. They didn't know if Eric was the father or if Ridge was the father, so they took blood samples from Ridge, from Eric, even from me. Now, if what you say is true, wouldn't they have discovered it at that time? Wouldn't they have told us?

Dr. Fetter: You would think so, but not necessarily. You see, paternity tests are about DNA, and what I'm talking about are blood types, and those are two separate issues. So if they checked Ridge and Eric's blood types, it was only to make sure it was consistent with the little girl's, and there would have been no reason to check yours, either. Only your DNA. Of course, it is possible that they did discover the truth, and they just chose not to say anything. I have no way of knowing that. What I do know is, based on the information that I have here, your husband could not have fathered your son.

***********************************************************************

Tony: You know, Sal, maybe you should cut this guy Massimo some slack. I mean, he's been in love with Stephanie Forrester for how many years?

Sally: Too many years, Antonio, and certainly long enough for him to know better. But I am feeling psychic these days, so I will make a prediction, all right? I predict that probably Massimo will go on pining for that woman for the rest of his life.

Tony: Unless, of course, she gives in to temptation.

[Sally laughs] come on, Sal. Nobody's perfect.

Sally: I know that, and certainly Stephanie isn't perfect. She's human. She would probably enjoy a flirtation with a man like Massimo. Why not? She might even enjoy leading him on a little bit. But would she do anything to jeopardize her marriage? No, never.

Tony: Well, if it's true that there's no hope for him and Stephanie --

Sally: There is not a snowball's chance in hell.

Tony: A-ha! Then he's bound to figure it out, huh? Hey, who would have ever thought that Sally Spectra would be rooting for Stephanie and Eric to be happy?

Sally: That is kind of wild, isn't it? And for once, the odds are in my favor, because I honestly believe there is nothing on this earth that would cause Eric and Stephanie to break up now.

Stephanie: This can't be happening. This is Eric's child, his son, his first child. Eric can't lose his son.

Dr. Fetter: He's not going to.

Stephanie: But that's what we're talking about, isn't it? Everything they've been through together all these years?

Dr. Fetter: They still have that, and they always will. Mrs. Forrester, you have information that you didn't have before. That's all. And whether you choose to share that with anyone --

Stephanie: Well, you can't tell anyone.

Dr. Fetter: I'm not going to.

Stephanie: You have to give me your word of honor. You give me your word.

Dr. Fetter: I give it to you.

Stephanie: Do you understand what this would do? This would kill my son. It would kill my husband. Do you understand? You can't tell anyone.

Dr. Fetter: I understand.

Stephanie: All he ever wanted in his life was to be like his father. I mean, when he came and told us that he wanted to be a designer, I thought Eric -- I thought he'd burst with pride. He was so excited. Everything he's ever done, he's done for Ridge. He built this business. He wanted to have something to give him, to leave to him. He only wanted to be the kind of father that all the children could look up to.

Dr. Fetter: And it sounds like he succeeded beautifully.

Stephanie: If they ever found out about this, neither one of them would ever forgive me.

Dr. Fetter: Mrs. Forrester, you're upset, understandably so. But right now, I want you to try and calm down. Your son is going to be awaking very soon. He's going to need you, and he is going to need his father.

Stephanie: This would only hurt them. You understand that? It would only hurt them, so you can't tell anyone.

Dr. Fetter: Mrs. Forrester, you and I are the only ones who know we've had this conversation, and as far as I'm concerned, we never did.

[Monitor beeping]

Taylor: Oh, Ridge. Oh, my God. Are you okay? Are you in pain?

Ridge: Hey, doc.

Taylor: I want to go get your doctor. I'll be right back.

Thorne: Hey, bro. I'm glad you're back.

Ridge: What gives?

Thorne: I heard that you got in a fight with a samurai sword and lost.

Ridge: Massimo --

Eric: Did Massimo do this to you, Ridge?

Ridge: No.

Eric: Are you sure?

Ridge: It wasn't his fault. Still, that bastard.

Thorne: See, it's the same old Ridge.

Ridge: Where is mother?

Eric: She's here. She's giving blood.

Thorne: I tell you what, I'm going to go get her, okay? You take care.

Ridge: Hey, are you all right?

Eric: Am I all right? Yes. Yes, I'm all right -- now.

Ridge: Good.

Eric: Look, son, it's probably best if you try not to talk right now.

Ridge: I have to tell you --

Eric: Tell me what?

Ridge: I heard what you said.

Eric: You did?

Ridge: Me, too.

[Ridge coughs] I love you, too.

***********************************************************************************************

[Pager beeps]

Dr. Fetter: They need me.

Stephanie: Of course they do. Thank you. Thank you. Ridge is Massimo's son. But Eric is his father. Ridge is so like Eric. I mean, they are really father and son in the only way that matters. They love one another, and that bond -- you can't break a bond like that. That bond cannot be broken.

Massimo: I just saw the doctor leave.

Stephanie: I thought you went home.

Massimo: I was, till I heard what you were talking about.

Stephanie: Till you heard what we were talking about?

Massimo: Something's wrong with Ridge. What is it?

Stephanie: Mass, I want you to leave.

Massimo: Look, I want to help.

Stephanie: Mass, what is it that you don't understand about what I just said? I want you to leave us alone. I want you to go. I want you to go now, please.

Massimo: Stephanie --

Stephanie: Go! What do I have to say to you?! Go!
