Kristen: Las Olas, tonight?

Tony: Yeah. You haven't eaten dinner, have you?

Kristen: No. Actually, food is the last thing on my mind right now.

Tony: Well, what could possibly be more important?

Kristen: Don't tease me.

Tony: So I'll be over to pick you up?

Kristen: No, no, no, no. I'd better meet you there with my dad and all.

Tony: Okay. Good idea. So I'll be expecting you.

Kristen: Tony --

Tony: What?

Kristen: I'm waiting for an answer, Antonio.

Tony: I'd better go book our table. I'll see you in a little while.

Clarke: Did he give you an answer?

Kristen: No.

Clarke: That's a good sign.

Kristen: What do you mean?

Clarke: He's not going to marry you, Kristen, and someday, you'll thank him for that.

[Knock at door]

Deacon: All right, all right, I'm coming. Come on. Damn it. I can't get anything done in this place. Rickie.

Rick: Where's my sister?

Deacon: Uh, she's at class.

Rick: Then I'll wait.

Deacon: Make yourself at home.

Rick: You know what, Deacon? You'd better get out of here.

Deacon: Excuse me.

Rick: I said go.

Deacon: Uh, Rick, in case you haven't noticed, this is my living room.

Rick: Fine. You want to be here when I lay it on Bridget?

Deacon: Okay, Rick, I'll bite. When you lay what on Bridget?

Rick: That you've been hitting on my wife again, you son of a bitch.

Deacon: Whoa. Look, look, I don't know where you've been getting your information.

Rick: Oh, don't feed me a line of crap! I saw you at the lair kissing my wife!

Kristen: He didn't say he wasn't going to marry me, Clark.

Clarke: He didn't say he would, either.

Kristen: Well, I'm sure I'll have an answer tonight.

Clarke: I'm not going to let you do this.

Kristen: Oh, you're not going to let me?

Clarke: I care about you, damn it, and I'm not going to let you make the biggest mistake of your life.

Kristen: To marry someone I love more deeply than I have ever loved anyone? I'm sorry, Clarke. I know you have feelings for me --

Clarke: It's not about me. It's not about my feelings. It's about you and your health and your safety and your happiness.

Kristen: But I couldn't be happier. Believe me.

Clarke: You say that now, but how about when Tony develops AIDS, and you're sitting there watching him die.

Kristen: It could be decades before he develops AIDS, and by then, they could have a cure for HIV.

Clarke: Yeah, yeah, maybe so, but in the meantime, what do you have? You have a marriage with a guy that you can't love, that you can't have sex with, that you can't have children with.

Kristen: Oh, we have plenty of love to share, and we don't need to sleep together to do it.

Clarke: Well, that is great. You can just play footsie for the next ten years. You know, he's not gonna tolerate that. No, he can't sleep with you night after night, not wanting to fulfill his desires. He's a man. He's going to want you, and eventually, he's going to have you.

Kristen: Good-bye, Clarke. I have a date.

[Door slams]

Tony: All right. It's all set. She's on her way.

Sally: Now, you didn't say anything to clue her in, did you?

Tony: What, that her favorite musician is going to be stopping by for a jam session?

[Laughter] I think we'll just have to surprise her with that one.

Darla: Oh, speaking of surprises, do you have another one for her?

Sally: All right, Darla. That's enough. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We'll just let Antonio work his magic.

Sofia: Look at you. So handsome, so happy.

Tony: I just hope that I'm doing the right thing. Arturo, thank you so much for playing here tonight.

Arturo: I'm glad to be part of the big night. You're sure you want something romantic, right?

Darla: Honey, of course he does.

Tony: Listen, you are the artist, man. You get to pick.

Arturo: Okay. I'd better get ready.

Tony: Mi gracias. And thanks to all of you. You know, you've all been like my family, and I don't want you all to get carried away today. I know that Kristen proposed to me, and I'm going to tell her my answer tonight. But honestly, I don't know what that answer will be. All I know is I have to do what's best for the woman that I love.

Massimo: My favorite redhead. Tell me, what are you doing here?

Sally: Well, I'm just checking out the action here at Las Olas, and the action has gotten considerably hotter now that you've arrived. And you?

Massimo: Me? I am supposed to meet someone here, actually.

Sally: Oh, I see.

Massimo: Look, I might as well just tell you. It's Stephanie Forrester.

Sally: Well, that's nice, actually. The three of us can have a nice drink together. Let me think. It was vinegar on the rocks, wasn't it? Wasn't that her drink of choice, Massimo?

Massimo: My two favorite women. How much different are you two, really?

Sally: Very different, starting with the fact that one is married and the other is free -- free and very easy.

[Massimo laughs]

Massimo: Are you here alone?

Sally: No, no. I'm here with some associates from work. They're sitting over there somewhere.

Massimo: What's the occasion?

Sally: Well, it's just a little surprise that we're planning for somebody. Please, Massimo, sit down.

Massimo: No, I don't think I should.

Sally: Oh, well, I promise you if queen Stephanie Forrester shows up, I will not make a scene.

Massimo: Oh, she'll be here. Her office left a message with my secretary.

Sally: Oh, really? Secretaries have been known to make mistakes, you know?

Massimo: No, no, no, no, no. Not mine. Mine is totally reliable.

Sally: Tell me something, Massimo. If Stephanie doesn't show up here today, how much will that upset you?

Massimo: Not as much as it would if you weren't here.

Sally: You are a flatterer, but that's very good, Massimo, because she's not going to show up.

Massimo: What?

Sally: I made that call.

Massimo: Sally --

[Sally laughs]

Sally: Oh, come on. Don't look at me like that. It isn't as if you never pulled a stunt like that.

Massimo: Well, you could have just called. I mean, were you afraid that I would turn you down?

Sally: I just didn't want to take the chance.

Massimo: Is it that important to you?

Sally: I could answer that question and put it up in neon lights, but actually, I am trying to tone down that kind of response when I'm out with a classy gent like you.

Massimo: Sally Spectra tone it down? Heaven forbid.

[Sally laughs]

Sally: Oh, look.

Massimo: Isn't that the --

Sally: Yes, yes. That is Arturo Sandoval, the one and only. Are you a fan?

Massimo: Yes. He's fantastic.

Sally: Senor Sandoval, I would like to introduce my friend. This is Massimo Marone.

Arturo: Oh, the pleasure's mine, sir.

Tony: All right. Well, just in time. Hi.

Kristen: Hi. You want to save me the suspense?

Tony: Hey, tonight is not about suspense.

Kristen: Are you kidding? I asked you to marry me, and you still haven't given me an answer.

Tony: And you will have an answer in time.

Kristen: The fact that you're stalling --

Tony: Come on. Now, will you just forget about it for the next few hours? We're together tonight, and I think that's all that matters.

Kristen: Well, yeah, for tonight, but what about the rest of our lives?

Tony: Hey. One day at a time, all right? That's all we've got. Come on. I have a surprise for you.

Kristen: Oh, this is lovely.

Martin: Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention, please.

Kristen: What's going on?

Martin: Las Olas is very proud to present tonight a four-time Grammy award winner. Please welcome to the stage Arturo Sandoval.

[Cheers and applause]

Kristen: Oh, my God. I love him.

Tony: He's here for you, Kristen -- all for you.

[Cheers and applause]

Eric: What are you doing here? Where's Kristen?

Clarke: She's out with Tony.

Eric: Damn it.

Clarke: Eric, I've got some bad news. She asked him to marry her.

Rick: So what, are you gonna deny it?

Deacon: Rick, if you saw us kissing, then you saw us ending it. It's over.

Rick: Oh, well, gee, isn't that swell?

Deacon: She's having your baby, man. I'm out of it.

Rick: What, what, until she gets her figure back?

Deacon: Oh, come on. Grow up, man.

Rick: You poisoned her! You kept messing with her mind, coming over to the house, using the kid to get into her bed!

Deacon: I want you to listen to me, Rick. I never slept with her.

Rick: Yeah, and I'm supposed to believe that?

Deacon: It's the truth.

Rick: You've been lying the whole damn time, both of you!

Amber: Rick, don't! Don't.

Eric: No. She wouldn't do that.

Clarke: You know, I didn't want to believe it, either.

Eric: Kristen asked Tony to marry her?

Clarke: Yes, she did, and he's going to give her his answer tonight. We've got to do something. We've got to put a stop to this.

Eric: Well, he won't say yes. He's not going to do that. I had a long talk with him.

Clarke: Then why didn't he tell her no when she first brought it up?

Eric: Well, maybe he did, and now, she's just pressuring him.

Clarke: Eric, we've got to stop kidding ourselves here. If we're gonna get Kristen out of danger, we've got to do something right now.

[soft jazz music plays]

Amber: What are you doing?

Rick: You know what? It's not worth it. Go ahead. Go ahead, take him. You don't have to pretend with me anymore.

Amber: What has happened to you?

Rick: Betrayal! That's what happened to me.

Amber: I did not betray you.

Rick: Oh, oh, right, because messing around behind your husband's back doesn't qualify as cheating in your book? It's just the way of the streets?

Amber: No, I love you! I don't love him!

Rick: Yeah, yeah, I dreamed that up, too.

Deacon: Rick, I told you, it's over between us.

Rick: You know what?! You stay out of this! You said it was over six months ago, but it wasn't!

Amber: Rick, I made a mistake, okay? But I did the right thing, and I ended it.

Rick: You were all over him. I saw you. How many times did it happen when I didn't see you, huh?

Amber: Rick -- Rick, I've screwed up so many things. I have, but I was not gonna screw this up. And yes, I kissed him, and I said good-bye, and I left a part of myself behind, but I did it for you and for our baby, because that's all I care about now. I just want to be a good wife, and I want to be a mother. Rick, you've brought so much joy to my life. You have, and I swear -- I swear I will never, ever do anything like that again, 'cause you're everything to me -- everything. Please. Please, just give me another chance. Please, I'll do anything. Just give me another chance.

Rick: It's like deja vu. It's the same thing you said to me two years ago. It's the same thing you said last spring.

Amber: No. Come on, Rick. Don't go. Come on! What about our baby?!

[Amber sobs]

[cheers and applause]

Eric: He won't marry her. Tony knows what's at stake.

Clarke: Kristen's life, that's what's at stake. Are you going to leave that in Tony's hands? Eric, he's living with a death sentence. He marries her, she's gonna have one, too.

Kristen: You did that for me?

Tony: No. Senor Sandoval did that for you.

Kristen: Why?

Tony: Well, because he's a romantic, like me.

Kristen: No. Why did you arrange it?

Tony: Well, because I know that you love his music, and since I love you --

Kristen: We can't be apart, Tony, not anymore.

Tony: We will never be apart, not even after I'm gone.

Kristen: Don't talk that way, okay?

Tony: Listen, I'm coming to grips with my life. I know what I have to do. My life has been laid out for me, so I know that my time is precious. I also know that you're part of my life, and because of my condition, I appreciate you more than I ever imagined that I could. I love you so much, Kristen, and I just want to do what is right for you.

Kristen: You are what's right for me. You say you see the path to your future. Well, I see it, too, and I'm walking it with you. We can make it together, Tony. There is nothing that will stop us -- if that's what you want. Tony, you said you'd give me an answer tonight. Are you ready to do that?

Tony: Yes.

Kristen: Well then, tell me. Will you be my husband? Will you marry me?
