Eric: Kristen, look --
Kristen: I am not going to debate this anymore. I have made my decision. If you can't accept my relationship with Tony, then I'm going to walk out that door and not come back.
Eric: You're asking us to accept something that's dangerous for you. Tony is HIV positive. If you'd just stop for a moment and consider the implications for the rest of your life.
Kristen: Okay, fine. Come on, let's go.
Tony: No, Kristen, not like this.
Kristen: You just heard them. They are not going to support us.
Tony: They just don't want you to get hurt.
Eric: Or worse.
Kristen: You are not going to give me HIV.
Tony: Well, I'm not gonna let this destroy your family either. These people are your foundation. I'm not coming between you. Look, I'd rather walk out of here alone. I mean it. Look, we can find a way to make this work, but there's nothing more important than our family.
Kristen: What about our family, Tony? What about us? I think we can do more than just make this relationship work. I think we can have everything that we wanted -- a marriage, a family. We haven't even begun to explore our options.
Eric: What options, Kristen?
Kristen: I don't know, Dad. I don't know how we're going to make this work, but I know that we have to try. It's not going to be easy. It is going to take a lot of courage and determination, but it is not impossible. We can do it, Tony, but we have to be strong, and we cannot let other people's perceptions affect us. This is our future, and we have to live it on our terms. And if my family can't support us, then we'll just have to do it alone.
Bridget: Hey, Rick. What's going on? Your message sounded urgent.
Rick: Amber took the pregnancy test.
Rick: It was positive.
Bridget: She's pregnant?
Rick: Yes! We're having a baby.
Bridget: Oh! Oh, congratulations. It's amazing.
Rick: Oh, yeah.
Bridget: Where's Amber? I want to congratulate her.
Rick: She went out. But it's cool, though, we're gonna -- we're gonna celebrate later.
Bridget: So she's happy about this?
Rick: Yeah, of course she is. Why wouldn't she be?
Amber: Where have you been? You ask me to meet you, and then you stand me up?
Deacon: I know, I'm sorry. I had to wait until Bridget left to go to your house.
Amber: What's she doing over there?
Deacon: Well, gee, I don't know. I guess Rickie wants to share the good news.
Amber: Don't be a jerk.
Deacon: But it's not good news for you, is it, Amber? 'Cause you really didn't want to get pregnant, did you?
Amber: Yes, I did. Yes, I did. I just didn't think it would happen so fast.
Deacon: Oh, please. Come on, don't give me that. I was there when you got the results.
Amber: I was shocked.
Deacon: You were shocked? So was I. How could you let this happen? You knew what the consequences were gonna be.
Amber: Rick is my husband.
Deacon: But I'm the man that you want.
Rick: Look, Budge, I know what you're thinking. And I know that Amber wasn't totally into the idea when I first brought it up. But, she came around, and she wants this baby just as much as I do.
Rick: You do believe me?
Bridget: Yeah. Hey, nobody knows Amber better than you do, Rick. If you say she's happy, she must be happy.
Rick: Yeah, but aren't you?
Bridget: Yes, of course, I am. This is a big deal for you.
Rick: No, Bridget, this is a big deal for all of us.
Bridget: I know. Stephanie is gonna be so thrilled. You know how much she loves babies.
Rick: I know. I'm talking about us, Budge. You know, me and Amber, you and Deacon.
Bridget: Does he know about this?
Rick: Uh, well, not that I know of. Did he mention anything?
Bridget: No, not really. He asked me to stop taking my birth control pills.
Bridget: Well, we talked about it, and I'm still taking them. I mean, I just started school. This just isn't the right time for us.
Rick: So he's not totally opposed to the idea?
Rick: Good. Then whatever connection there was between Amber and Deacon is gone now, and we can finally put all of this crap behind us.
Amber: Deacon, stop it. People are staring.
Deacon: I don't care. Look, I am so sick and tired of playing the tough guy all the time, Amber. Hiding my feelings, pretending this isn't killing me, 'cause it is. All day long, I can't stop thinking about it. I just -- I just hear it in my head over and over again. Amber is having Rick's baby.
Amber: Yes, I am.
Deacon: Could you just not be so damn matter of fact about it?
Amber: I'm being realistic. I am pregnant with my husband's child, and there's nothing I can say to make it easier on you. You're upset, and I'm sorry, but --
Deacon: Wait, wait. You're sorry? That's it? You made a mistake.
Amber: No, this baby is not a mistake. This baby will be loved and cherished. This baby will have an amazing life with two parents that absolutely adore it.
Deacon: And what about those two parents not adoring each other?
Amber: I love my husband, Deacon. I do. And I love his family, you know. [Deacon groans] I mean, the Forrester's are really great people. They've always been good to me.
Deacon: Yeah, I knew it.
Amber: And Stephanie -- I'm closer to her than my own mother.
Deacon: I told you this. I told you this was gonna happen if you went back to Rick, that you were gonna lose yourself, wind up being one of those stupid Forrester drones.
Amber: Oh, no. Don't even give me that. You know, you're part of this family now, too, and your wife just happens to be --
Deacon: Hey, hey. My wife -- my wife was willing to stand up and leave her family to be with me. She'll be damned if they're gonna run her life. You shouldn't let them run yours.
Amber: Deacon, this is not about being a Forrester. This is about being a wife and a mother. I have a responsibility now. I'm pregnant, and there's nothing I can do to make that go away. All we can do is just accept it and move on.
Eric: Kristen, I'm not trying to keep you from living your life. If you wanna be with Tony, there is nothing I can do to stop you. But this future that you see is just a fantasy. It's never gonna happen.
Kristen: How can you say that? How can you be so negative? Tony and I love each other. Nothing else matt --
Eric: Oh, honey, it's a beautiful dream. I see that. But that's all it is, a dream. It cannot come true.
Kristen: You don't know that.
Eric: You're planning to get married to have a family of your own.
Kristen: Yeah, it's possible. If you take the proper medication, which Tony has, people with HIV can have very fulfilling lives. I refuse to see this disease as a tragedy. It is not. It is not an insurmountable problem. It may even be an opportunity.
Eric: An opportunity for what?
Kristen: I don't know, but something -- something wonderful and positive will emerge from this. I feel it. The most rewarding part of our lives is ahead of us. There's gonna be challenges, yes -- big ones. And we'll have to overcome them together. But this disease is not going to ruin our lives. It is not going to hold us back. The only thing it's gonna do is make every achievement, every accomplishment that much sweeter. You'll see.
Eric: Honey, I appreciate what you're trying to say. I really do. But -- but you have to realize that, if you pursue this, every day of your relationship is gonna be very, very difficult. And the closer you get, the harder it's gonna be.
Stephanie: Kristen, would you and Tony excuse us just for a bit? I'd like to talk to your father alone for a minute.
Deacon: No. No, no, no. I'm not gonna accept this. There has got to be a way that we can work this out.
Amber: Well, there's not. What do you want me to say?
Deacon: I want you to -- I want you to tell me that I'm not off base here. Tell me that there's a chance for us. Look, just forget about the Forrester's. Forget about Rick. And for one second, look at me, and be honest with me. Just tell me. What do you want?
Amber: I love my husband, and I want him.
Deacon: But you want me, too.
Eric: Honey, I was trying to make a point.
Stephanie: I know you were, but so was Kristen. She knows what she's getting into.
Eric: No, I don't think she does. You know, the two of them are planning a life together. They wanna get married. They wanna have children. They want to explore their options. "Love conquers all." Tony is HIV positive!
Stephanie: You don't have to say that over and over again.
Eric: No, I don't?!
Stephanie: I know you're frustrated. But she understands the situation. She knows that she's at risk. And if she's willing to accept that --
Eric: No, wait, wait, wait. Are you suggesting that we go along with this?
Stephanie: Eric, she's very clear about this. She made her point very clearly. If we don't support her, we could lose her. Maybe forever.
Tony: You didn't have to do that, you know.
Kristen: Yes, I did.
Tony: Kristen, they're your parents. They're just trying to protect you.
Kristen: I don't need their protection, Tony. I need their support. And if they can't give us that, then --
Tony: You'd shut them out of your life like that?
Kristen: What choice were they giving me? I won't let their negative thinking influence us. And I will not let this virus rob us of our dreams. And we might have to approach it differently. It might take a little longer than we planned. But we can still have a future together.
Tony: And this is what you really want?
Kristen: There is no doubt in my mind.
Bridget: So that's it? You're not worried anymore?
Rick: You know, I wasn't worried. I just thought that we should be alert and keep our eyes open, that's all.
Bridget: Because of their history.
Rick: You didn't see it, Budge. Deacon was obsessed with Amber. He was convinced that they would end up together.
Bridget: I know, but that was a long time ago, Rick. Deacon's married to me now.
Rick: And Amber's pregnant.
Bridget: So, everything worked out.
Rick: Yeah. We can finally put to rest all that ridiculous speculation that there's something between Amber and Deacon.
Amber: Deacon, there's something between us. There always has been. And it's not just physical. You know, I used to think it was. I used to think that it was just some chemical reaction, that I could -- I could control it, and I could just turn it off, but I can't. Because it's more than that. You know, it's -- it's like what Brooke said.
Deacon: Wait a minute. What are you saying, like, we really are soul mates?
Amber: Uh, you know, we're a lot alike in many ways. We both have the same background, and we have the same thoughts and ideas. Sometimes when you look at me, it feels like you can just look right inside me and know exactly what I'm thinking. And I like that.
Deacon: I understand you, Amber. I mean, come on, Rick doesn't have a clue.
Amber: This has nothing to do with Rick. My feelings for you, they're totally separate. No matter how much I love him and how committed I am to him, they're always there. Every time I look at you, and every time I hear your voice on the phone, or when I see you with Eric, I'm drawn to you. And I fantasize about you. But that's all it'll ever be. Just a fantasy.
Deacon: What!? Amber, no, no! Come on, this is -- this is real.
Amber: No, no. My baby is real. My feelings for Rick, they are real. You know, this -- this is a -- a daydream.
Deacon: You just -- you just said that --
Amber: You asked me to be honest. You deserve to know the truth.
Deacon: What, so this doesn't mean anything?
Amber: No, it doesn't change anything. You're an amazing man, Deacon. And you're an incredible father. And maybe, maybe if Rick wasn't such a significant part of my life, you know, maybe -- maybe things would be different. But the way they are now, it's just not gonna happen for us.
Deacon: You just told me that you have feelings. How can you not act on them?
Amber: I just can't.
Deacon: I don't understand. What is this, some kind of joke?
Amber: No, no. This is the only answer. Whatever you and I had, it's over. I am going to spend the rest of my life with Rick, and you are going to spend the rest of your life with Bridget. And we will never again act on any of the feelings we have for each other. This is -- this is good-bye, Deacon.
Eric: I don't want to lose Kristen. I don't want to drive her away. But, honey, if we support this relationship, we could lose her anyway, to AIDS.
Stephanie: Not if they're careful. Not if they're not irresponsible.
Eric: Oh, honey, they're human. There are gonna be moments of irresponsibility, no matter how careful they are. Now, I'm not willing to subject my daughter to that, and I can't see how you would be willing to either.
Stephanie: It's not our decision. She's already made her mind up. She's determined to have a life with this boy, and nothing is gonna stop her -- not you, not me, not God, not some virus. She's going to do it. She understands what the risk is. Now, it seems to me they're two remarkable young people. I'm only just beginning to realize the strength of character that Kristen has. So with that kind of determination and faith and belief, who knows? Who knows? I think if anyone can make it work, Kristen can, with Tony. And who are you and I? Who are you and I to keep them from trying to do something wonderful and miraculous with their lives?
Tony: Do you really think that we can do this? To have a life like that?
Kristen: I know we can. But, Tony, you have to believe it, too. You have to stop seeing yourself as a victim. You have to see yourself as more than a man with HIV. You have to see yourself as a man with a future. A man with an exciting, abundant future. Can you do that?
Tony: Yes. With you, I can do anything.
