Kristen: I have missed you so much.

Eric: Yeah?

Kristen: Yeah.

Eric: Good. I missed you, too. Now tell me you're gonna stay around for awhile.

Kristen: Dad, we'll have to see about that, okay?

Eric: Oh, yeah. Your mother told me about this little talk you had.

Kristen: Talk? Is that what she called it?

Eric: Kristen --

Kristen: Dad, I don't want you getting in the middle of this.

Eric: Oh, you don't?

Kristen: No.

Eric: Well, I am in the middle of it. You're my daughter and she's my wife. You know, honey, there's only one solution to this and that's for you to spend more time with the family.

Kristen: Well, that's why I'm back.

Eric: Your mother's part of that family, you know.

Kristen: Dad, she makes me crazy. She is so critical.

Eric: Well, that's not criticism, you know. It's not. It's concern and it's affection. It's not criticism.

Kristen: Then why is she always giving me such a hard time about not having a man in my life.

Eric: Well, look at you. You're this beautiful, attractive accomplished woman and you have trouble dating men. So what's that all about? Come on. Talk to me.

Kristen: It's nothing. It's nothing.

Eric: If it's a question of sexual preference --

Kristen: Dad, I'm not gay.

Eric: So? Why isn't there somebody in your life?

Kristen: It's a choice I've made.

Eric: Why? Are you uncomfortable around men?

Kristen: No. No, in a business setting, I'm fine. But personal -- I don't know. You know, maybe it's because of all the disappointments that I've had in my life, but I've just -- I've gotten protective -- shy.

Eric: Have you talked to somebody about that?

Kristen: Somebody, like a therapist?

Eric: Yeah.

Kristen: Dad, no! Come on, let's not blow this out of proportion, okay? The bottom line is I just haven't met the right guy. You know, and maybe I never will. You know, but one day, I'm gonna be standing in line at the grocery store or just walking down the street and there he'll be -- the one man who'll accept me the way I am. Hey, I didn't come here to whine about that, okay? I'm sorry.

Eric: Don't be sorry. You whine to me all you want, okay? -- As long as we're talking. I'm your dad. I love you.

Kristen: Oh, I love you, too.

Thorne: Kristen!

Kristen: Thorne, hi!

Thorne: Hi! Gosh. What? You were gonna wait for a dinner invitation?

Kristen: No, I just got back into town. Brooke, hi.

Brooke: Good to see you.

Kristen: Hey, Ridge.

Brooke: You look great.

Kristen: So what's going on?

Ridge: We have a staff meeting.

Eric: Why don't you stay?

Kristen: No, I don't think so.

Eric: I want you to stay. I have an assignment for you.

Darla: Oh, my gosh, Tony, that is so steamy!

Antonio: So "South of the Border," right, Darla?

Darla: Si.

Sally: Not only that, Antonio -- your designs are brilliant and innovative enough to cross all the borders. And with Spectra Fashions behind you, you are going to find yourself landed smack dab in the middle of mainstream fashion.

Darla: Ooh.

Sally: Everybody, take a look at this graph up here. What does this tell us, hmm? This tells us that in spite of a couple of years when we had brilliant couture collections from Mr. Garrison here, we have not really been competing with Forrester all that well. For the last ten years, we were missing a single element, you know? But now with you on board, Antonio, we have that element. All of those years of struggle to come up with an idea for a line of clothing that is beautiful and affordable -- in other words, a line of clothing for our customers instead of Forrester's. It's finally going to pay off. And in the meantime, because we are going to dedicate this first collection to Macy's memory, we are finally going to get some justice for her, because I firmly believe that the Forresters caused her death as much as if they had pointed a gun to her head. Now, thanks to this combination, the Forresters are finally going to pay for that. We are going to beat them at their own game -- Latino- style.

Darla: Arriba, arriba! Woo! Arriba!

Antonio: Your daughter Macy was very beautiful.

Sally: Inside and out. She was the light of our lives.

Darla: Yeah, everybody loved Mace. I don't think she had an enemy in the world.

Sophia: What about the Forresters?

Clarke: Even they loved her.

Sophia: Then why did they do this to her?

Sally: Because they could, Sophia. Because she was generous and kind and loving. That is the kind of person the Forresters have always found very easy to dismiss.

Clarke: Unfortunately, Macy was a very trusting person.

Sally: Her big mistake was in trusting a Forrester.

Antonio: They will not go unpunished for this, Sally.

Sally: Thank you, Antonio, but I don't want you worrying about that. You've got a line of clothing to get out.

Antonio: And it will be fabulous.

Sally: I'm sure it will.

Darla: And, with 40% of this town Hispanic, our market share is sure to go up.

Antonio: My line is not just gonna appeal to Latinas. Every woman in this country that wants to look sexy and beautiful will be wearing my clothes -- our clothes. We will make it impossible for them to resist.

Sally: That's the kind of talk we love around here, huh? We will get started first thing in the morning. Clarke, do you want to show Antonio his new digs?

Clarke: Sure. Come on, Antonio.

Antonio: My new digs?

Sally: Yes. Why do you think I told you to check out of that hotel?

Antonio: Sally, you didn't.

Sally: Come on. You're part of the family now. And never let it be said that Spectra does not reward it's own. See you tomorrow, genius.

Antonio: Ciao.

Darla: Ciao.

Antonio: Ciao.

Eric: You're saying he hasn't returned our calls?

Brooke: You were right, Eric. He is hot property.

Eric: Where is he living?

Brooke: Megan's checking.

Thorne: Where did you hear about this guy?

Eric: I saw him on television the other night. He's winning every fashion competition he enters and his stuff is sensational. I've had the feeling for a long time that the next big wave in fashion was gonna be Hispanic. I want this guy. I want this guy on board.

Ridge: You want me to talk to him?

Eric: No. I want Kristen to talk to him.

Kristen: Me?

Ridge: Dad --

Eric: No, no. Hang on a second. Look, rumor has it that Sally Spectra is considering calling this guy. She's probably already talked to him. And if she has, we can be sure she's been bad-mouthing us. Every one of us, except Kristen, of course.

Kristen: The absentee daughter.

Eric: Can you handle it? It's business, Kristen. It's nothing personal.

Kristen: All right. I'll do it.

Ridge: Dad, wait a minute.

Eric: In a minute, Ridge. Get his address from Megan, okay? And get right over there. I want this man on board. You bring him in.

Antonio: This is amazing. Thank you, Clarke. You and Sally are most generous.

Clarke: Well, we're just glad you're part of the team. Welcome home.

Clarke: Here, let me put those away.

Antonio: She used to live here?

Clarke: Yes.

Antonio: Let me ask you something, Clarke.

Clarke: Yeah.

Antonio: Is there anything or anyone that can alleviate Sally's pain?

Clarke: You, Tony. You and your designs. You know who you remind me of?

Antonio: Who?

Clarke: Me -- coming up the hard way, talented, full of promise -- you and I are gonna work well together, I think.

Antonio: You have a lot of faith in me.

Clarke: I'm sure other companies have approached you.

Antonio: Yeah. You're the first. And since then, you've kept me so busy I haven't even been able to check my messages.

Clarke: Well, when you check your messages, there'll be calls.

Antonio: You afraid I may jump ship?

Clarke: No.

Antonio: Good, 'cause I won't. One thing you'll learn about me is I'm loyal.

Clarke: That's good to hear.

Antonio: So I better get to drawing, yeah?

Clarke: And I better get back to work. We got a whole pr campaign to organize.

Antonio: You're issuing a press release about me?

Clarke: Press release? Are you kidding? We've got the hottest celebration the fashion world has ever seen. You better get productive.

Ridge: Dad, what's the matter with you? Kristen shouldn't be handling this.

Eric: Don't sell your sister short.

Ridge: She's been gone how long? She barely knows this company.

Eric: She used to design for this company, Ridge.

Ridge: Years ago. Yeah.

Brooke: Ridge is right. What in the world got into you?

Thorne: Have Megan call her on her cell phone. Let's get her back here now.

Eric: No, no, wait a minute. Everybody, here -- Kristen is not gonna let us down.

Brooke: Maybe she doesn't want to, but is she equipped for this?

Eric: Yeah, I think she can handle this hot young Latino designer just fine.

Ridge: Have you lost your mind? This is a business proposal.

Eric: That's when Kristen is at her best with a man, talking business.

Ridge: I should be handling this.

Eric: I don't know, Ridge. If I were Antonio Dominguez, I think I'd be a lot more open to an offer made by somebody who looks like Kristen than by somebody who looks like you. No offense.

Ridge: Are you hearing this? Do you believe this?

Eric: Look, you guys. There's a reason I gave her this assignment. I want her to stay in town. I don't want her leaving. Now let's give her something important to do -- make her feel needed.

Brooke: Eric, you set her up for a failure, she might leave quicker than she intended.

Eric: She'll come through for us.

Kristen: Hello, Antonio. My name is Kristen Forrester and this is your lucky day. No. No, that sounds too much like a come on. Antonio Dominguez? Hi, I'm Kristen Forrester. I hope I'm not interrupting. Yeah. Yeah, that'll work.

Kristen: Antonio Dominguez?

Antonio: Yes.

Kristen: My name -- my name is --

Antonio: Yes?

Kristen: I'm sorry, I --

Antonio: Why don't you come in.

Kristen: Thank you.

Antonio: Now, would you like to start over? You were telling me your name.

Kristen: Kristen.

Antonio: Kristen. That's a beautiful name. What are you, the next door neighbor?

Kristen: No. No, I'm here on behalf of Forrester Creations.

Antonio: Forrester Creations?

Kristen: Yes. I'm Kristen Forrester.

Antonio: Kristen Forrester?

Kristen: Yes.

Antonio: And you are here for what reason?

Kristen: I'm here to make you an offer.

Antonio: An offer I can't refuse?

Kristen: Well, I hope not. You do realize I'm making a business offer, Mr. Dominguez.

Antonio: Well, what else would I think you'd be talking about? I have to confess, I've been warned about you -- the Forresters.

Kristen: You have?

Antonio: And I have to say I was expecting someone with a red tail, horns, maybe a pitch fork, flames coming out of it.

Kristen: Are you disappointed?

Antonio: I'm a lot of things right now. I can't say that disappointed is one of them. Anyway, let me save you the pitch. I'm already working for Spectra Fashions.

Kristen: Oh.

Antonio: So if it's business you'd like to discuss, well, I guess we have nothing to talk about. But if there's something else you'd like to discuss -- say, the weather? Why are you looking at me like that?

Kristen: I'm sorry.

Antonio: No, no, don't be sorry. Tell me what you're looking at.

Kristen: I hope you'll consider our proposal.

Antonio: That's what you were thinking?

Kristen: No. No, but that is what I want to discuss with you. I am sure Sally has made you an attractive offer. And personally, I have nothing against her. However, I do think there are a few things you should consider.

Antonio: Such as?

Kristen: Such as -- you're an artist. You're just starting out. You could work at a company like Spectra for years and not be given the kind of opportunities that Forrester Creations would provide you with every day.

Antonio: I can only think of one opportunity at Forrester that might interest me.

Kristen: Have you ever worked with Pashmina?

Antonio: No, I haven't.

Kristen: It's the finest cashmere in the world. The designers at Forrester Creations work with Pashmina and the finest fabrics from all over. We live for the exotic. We create with it. I'm asking you to be a part of it. I want you to work at Forrester.

Ridge: Look, Dad, I know you mean well. But I have to wonder if you didn't plunge Kristen in over her head.

Eric: Well, maybe I did, Ridge. But maybe that's exactly what Kristen needs right now.

Thorne: What? To be left to sink or swim?

[Knock at door]

Sally: Oh, my. What a break for me. The big four Forresters all in one room.

Eric: Sally. How'd you get in here?

Sally: Oh, please, Eric. When are you going to admit that your security people cannot keep me out of here, huh? Thorne, Ridge, Brooke -- everybody's looking a bit nervous, a bit worried. You should be.

Thorne: What do you want, Sally?

Sally: I came over to remind you about an anniversary, Thorne.

Thorne: What anniversary?

Sally: "What anniversary," he says. Now why am I not shocked by that? Actually, it is almost the first anniversary of Macy's death. Now, of course, I know that that seems like a century away to you. But to me, it's like yesterday because I have lived with it every minute of every day since it happened and I probably will for the rest of my life.

Eric: Sally, why don't I get you something to drink? Come on.

Sally: That's very kind of you, Eric. But no, thank you. Actually, I should be the one to bring you all something. I should have mixed up a nice little pitcher of arsenic-laced martinis to pour down your collective throats.

Ridge: Sally, did you just come over here to vent your rage on us?

Sally: No, I didn't. Actually, I came over here to tell you about a major press party we are having at Spectra. Lots of press, everybody, will be there. It's a pretty swell affair and I'm asking you all to keep your distance, because, you see, we've hired a new designer at Spectra -- somebody very special, somebody very good. And for his first collection, we are dedicating it to Macy's memory. So I guess you can expect me to compete with you like I never have before. You see, it is our intention at Spectra Fashions -- me and my new designer -- to knock you right out of your first-place position. And because we are doing this for Macy, you can be absolutely sure I will not fail. And the most interesting part of all of this is there's absolutely nothing any of you can do to stop it.

Brooke: I wouldn't be so sure about that, Sally.

Kristen: I know this is a difficult position to be in, Tony, especially after what you promised Sally. But it's a choice that you have to make. Leave Spectra. Join us at Forrester Creations. I promise you, you won't regret it.
