Eric: I think Rick and Amber went in there to try to talk Brooke into being Amber's matron of honor.
Stephanie: She'll never agree to that. They can't stand each other.
Eric: Well, neither could you and Brooke, but you walked her down the aisle. I think it'd be wonderful.
Stephanie: I just want them to have a lovely wedding. I don't want some big fiasco to happen.
Eric: Well, this marriage would stand a much better chance if Amber and Brooke could start getting along now.
Stephanie: I can't deny that.
Eric: stranger things have happened, you know.
Amber: no way.
Brooke: Rick, think about what you're asking.
Rick: I have. Now I want you to think about it.
Amber: It's ridiculous.
Rick: It makes perfect sense. Look, I know you guys have your problems, but --
Amber: No, honey, I am not gonna spend the most wonderful moment of my life with a woman who despises me.
Rick: She doesn't despise you.
Brooke: Amber has a point.
Thorne: So does Rick.
Brooke: I understand. I know his heart's in the right place, and I would like to do anything I can for him. But, Rick, this is simply out of the question.
Amber: at last, your mother and I agree on something.
Amber: Deacon -- I just -- [Amber sighs] I need some time.
Deacon: I don't think that's what you need.
Amber: How do you know what I need?
Deacon: 'Cause I know you. You're just like me. You've been lookin' for the other half of that broken heart for as long as you live and now you've found it. Amber, don't push me away. Let me in. let me in. Amber, I'm gonna get you back -- you and my son. come on, baby, you can't marry Rick. Bridget's gotta invite me to this wedding.
Bridget: What's that?
Deacon: Ah, it's nothing.
Bridget: The three of you were like a little family.
Deacon: Yeah, I thought it might work out that way. Amber and I would've made great parents. The feelings just weren't there.
Bridget: Yeah, Amber's pretty hung up on my brother.
Deacon: Oh, I guess we all have our hang-ups.
Bridget: Uh-huh. Like Rick -- you know, he's nuts about her and I do mean nuts. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the baby thing. You know, maybe he feels responsible. But really, to get married at 20 years old, I just --
Rick: Mom, I want you to think about what this could do for the family. I mean, look what happened after Stephanie walked you down the aisle. It changed everything.
Brooke: this is different.
Amber: Yeah. yeah, you wanted her to walk you down the aisle. I, on the other hand --
Rick: Amber, this feud cannot go on forever. You and Mom are gonna have to learn how to get along eventually.
Amber: There will be plenty of time for that after we're married.
Rick: Sure. but why not start now?
Amber: You want to know why? I'll tell you why. Excuse me. I want our wedding to be special.
Rick: It will be.
Amber: No. no, it won't. Look at her. Look at her!
Brooke: No, I can't even imagine.
Amber: How am I supposed to float down the aisle with that sour look on her face just waiting for me at the altar?
Rick: I'll be waiting for you.
Amber: No, I have been waiting for this day for way too long. I’m not gonna let it be ruined by your mother's animosity.
Rick: She won't ruin it. I think this will make it more special.
Amber: Special? No. Rick, winning the lottery is special. Getting a root canal is not.
Rick: Amber, just open your mind a little.
Amber: No. No, mm-mmm. I'm sorry. I just can't. Your mother is not gonna be my matron of honor. [Rick sighs]
Stephanie: I have to tell you, I'm very impressed.
Eric: Well, if Brooke stands up for Amber, I will be very impressed, too.
Stephanie: Yes, that will be impressive, but that's not what I'm speaking about. I wanted to -- I wanted to pay you a compliment. I'm very impressed with the way you've handled this whole situation. You've been able to put aside your reservations about Rick's marriage and accept it gracefully.
Eric: Well, he's my son, isn't he? And he deserves my support, so he has it.
Stephanie: Yes, honey, but it's more than that. You've gone the extra mile. You helped him get custody of the baby. You've tried to talk Brooke into coming on board, very diplomatically. And you confronted Deacon.
Eric: I thought you disapproved of the way I handled that.
Stephanie: Well, I was concerned, you know. I mean, he had to be confronted, but I thought the situation got a little out of hand. And as a result, I am concerned. I'm concerned he might retaliate in some way. Until the kids are married tomorrow, I don't know – I kind of think we have to be prepared for something.
Eric: No, you know what? Amber made her choice. She wants to be with Rick. Now, Deacon may not be ready to accept that, but there's nothing else he can do.
Bridget: Deacon, what are you doing?
Deacon: Bridget, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to --
Bridget: No, you didn't. You just caught me off guard.
Deacon: Hey, nobody's more surprised by this than me. Bridget, you remember what I told you about me and Amber? I did want to get close to her. I did want to see it work. I've never been very good at opening up to anybody, letting anyone in. amber turned out to be the wrong woman. with you, it's different. I don't want to hold back with you.
Bridget: You don't have to.
Deacon: Yes, I do. You know, I'm here with you, alone in my apartment, and I'm starting to think things that I shouldn't be thinking.
Bridget: Yeah, I know what you mean.
Deacon: I mean, this is so frustrating, you know? I got all these feelings inside of me, and your parents, they hate me. I mean, if they had any idea about how I felt about you, about the time that we've been spending together --
Bridget: Don't worry about my family, Deacon. That's my problem.
Deacon: Yeah, but, see, it shouldn't have to be your problem. Hell, it shouldn't be their problem.
Bridget: What are you saying?
Deacon: I'm saying I've been an idiot -- come on, trying to convince myself that this thing could happen, that I could go to your brother's wedding with you. Yeah, our big coming-out party, right. Look, I-- I'm sorry. I got no business being anywhere near that wedding. And I got no business being anywhere near you.
Bridget: No. Deacon, that's not true. That's not true at all.
Brooke: Thorne, you can't expect me to go along with this.
Thorne: I think you should at least consider it.
Brooke: There's nothing to consider. Amber hasn't even asked me to be her matron of honor.
Thorne: That's right. Your son has.
Brooke: Well, that's not his decision. It's Amber's, and she's dead set against it. So am I.
Amber: I don't think this is a good idea.
Rick: Amber, I wouldn't even suggest this if I didn't think it was absolutely necessary.
Amber: Necessary for what? For turning our wedding into a circus?
Rick: We're insuring its success. I want this marriage to last. I want this time to be different.
Amber: It is different. We are older. We both know what we're doing.
Rick: Yeah, and we also know what we're up against. Okay? We're both in our 20s, trying to make a life for ourselves and a home for our child. We're gonna need all the support we can get.
Amber: Your mother's not gonna support us. She's been trying to break us up for months.
Rick: Yeah, but it didn't work, and she's accepted that.
Amber: Only because your father and Stephanie forced her to.
Rick: No. Nobody forces my mom to do anything.
Amber: Well, isn't that what you're doing right now?
Rick: No. This has to be your decision.
Amber: I've already made my decision. I told you, Brooke is not standing up for me.
Rick: there's nothing I can say to change your mind?
Amber: I'm sorry. I just -- I cannot do that.
Rick: Not even for me?
Amber: Oh, that's so not fair.
Rick: All right, what about for Eric? Could you do it for him?
Amber: Eric is a toddler. He doesn't care who stands up for me. He probably doesn't even understand what's going on.
Rick: Yeah, he might not tomorrow, but he will someday. He'll understand that his family cared enough about him and each other to put aside their differences and really come together. That's what this is about, Amber -- giving Eric the family he deserves, a family without tension or hostility.
Amber: I want that, too, but --
Rick: Then it's in your hands. Put an end to this rivalry. Start fresh. Do it for Eric.
Amber: For Eric.
Rick: For all of us. Amber, it's the right thing to do.
Rick: You'll do it?
Amber: I'm not gonna talk her into it, but if she wants to be my matron of honor, then I won't say no.
Deacon: Hey, hey, look, you don't have to pump me up. I mean, I know I'm not in your league. It's obvious.
Bridget: Not to me.
Deacon: Can you honestly tell me that I've got any business being at this wedding?
Bridget: Of course you would.
Deacon: Maybe as a caterer, parking cars or something, but not as -- not as a guest, not as your date.
Bridget: What are you talking about? Deacon, you'd be an amazing date.
Deacon: Bridget, nobody wants this more than I do. I mean, the time we've spent together -- it's been amazing, but this is a fantasy. I mean, there's no future in this.
Bridget: What, because of my family?
Deacon: Your family is never gonna accept me, Bridget.
Bridget: You don't know that, Deacon.
Deacon: They took my son, my flesh and blood, and then they said that I tried to steal him.
Bridget: But you gave him back.
Deacon: Look -- none of this matters. They're always gonna think that I'm the bad guy. And you know what? Maybe they're right.
Bridget: No, they're wrong. They don't know you the way I do. Deacon, you are a wonderful man.
Deacon: It's just -- the more I think about this, the more I'm convinced that this is a bad idea.
Bridget: No, no. It's a good idea. You know what? I want you there. I'd be proud to take you to Rick's wedding. My family needs to see who you really are.
Deacon: Ii want that, too.
Bridget: Good. Then it's a date.
Bridget: I want my family to see how I feel about you, and this is the best way to do that. Deacon, I promise you, when we walk into that house tomorrow, it's gonna change everything.
Deacon: I hope so. Oh, I hope so.
Bridget: I'll see you tomorrow.
Deacon: Okay. I hate to do this to you, Bridget, but they forced my hand. They pushed me, and they left me no choice, and I have got to get my family back. I gotta get 'em back.
Stephanie: You ready to go home?
Eric: Actually, I am. I'll just stop by for some things in my office.
Stephanie: I'll get it. Hello. Yes, Megan? Eric, wait a minute. Come here.
Deacon: Stephanie, I want to talk to your husband.
Eric: I'm here, Deacon. What do you want?
Deacon: I want what you stole from me, Eric. I want my family back.
Eric: Deacon, I told you. You can see the baby after the wedding. Until then, I want you to stay away from us.
Deacon: Well, gee, that's just not gonna work for me.
Stephanie: Deacon, they're getting married tomorrow. It's only 24 hours.
Eric: Look, why can't you just accept the fact that it's too late?
Deacon: You see, that's where you're wrong. It's never too late for a guy like me, Eric, 'cause I got nothing to lose, but you do.
Eric: You can't intimidate me, Sharpe. you signed the custody agreement. Your hands are tied.
Deacon: You think so, huh?
Eric: Yes, I do. And don't try to take on our legal team, either. They'll tear you apart. They'll leave you for dead. [Deacon laughs]
Deacon: You like being in control of situations, don't you, Eric? All that money and all that power. But you know, that's -- that's not your most valued possession, is it? Eric Forrester, the biggest name in fashion. I bet, when it boils down to it, you're really just a simple family man.
Eric: What's that supposed to mean?
Deacon: It means it's time to make a choice, Eric, a decision. Either you get Rick to give me back Amber and my son, or I --
Eric: Or what?
Deacon: I'm gonna hit you where it hurts the most.
Eric: Look, Deacon, I'm warning you --
Deacon: No! I'm warning you! You do exactly what I tell you to do, or I swear, I'll make your worst nightmare come true. This is a one-time offer. It's your choice, and for your sake, Ii pray you make the right one.
Eric: All right, Deacon, this stops right here. I want you to --
Stephanie: That S.O.B. is going to pull something.
Eric: Stephanie, Jonathan has gone through this custody agreement with a fine-toothed comb. It's ironclad. There's no way he's gonna get this baby back.
Stephanie: You're not listening to me. He is angry. He's really angry. He feels that we've stolen his child. Now, he's threatened to pay us back, and from the sound of that phone call, I think he's gonna follow through.
Eric: I don't care what he has planned. Nothing is gonna disrupt this wedding.
Rick: Mom? Amber has something to say to you.
Brooke: Well, she doesn't have to say anything. I understand how she feels. I feel the same way.
Rick: Well, good, then you'll be her matron of honor.
Brooke: Honey, that's not what she wants.
Rick: She wants this marriage to work, all right? She wants to give Eric a happy and stable family, and she wants us all to get along.
Thorne: Well, that's what we all want.
Rick: Yeah, but it's not gonna happen until we put an end to this tension. Now, Amber?
Amber: Well, uh -- you can -- you can be my matron of honor if you want to be.
Rick: It would mean so much to me, Mom, to stand up at that altar with the two most significant women in my life and share my joy and happiness with both of you. Now, Thorne's agreed to it. So has Amber. It's up to you.
Brooke: Oh, honey. I mean, if that's what you really want, how can I say no?
Rick: Yes. Thank you. Thank you. This is gonna be great.
Thorne: Hey, you're going to have a beautiful wedding amber, okay? And you couldn't have asked for a better matron of honor.
Rick: Hey, the best man isn't too bad himself.
Thorne: Oh, well, thank you. Well, come on, you two. Don't just stand there.
Rick: Yeah, this is a big deal for our family. You guys don't have to be turning cartwheels, but at least give each other a hug.
Brooke: okay. There, it's settled.
Brooke: See you tomorrow. Come on, honey. Let's go.
Rick: See, that wasn't so bad, was it?
Amber: You just don't give up, do you?
Rick: No, Amber, I don't, not when it comes to my family. I'm going to do whatever it takes to keep us together. Nobody's ever gonna tear us apart again.
Deacon: Well, baby, tomorrow the Forrester’s make their choice. Amber, I know you think these people care about you. Tomorrow, they get to prove it. You'll see how loyal they really are when they choose between you and their precious baby daughter.
