Marley: Hmm.

Jamie: Beautiful night.

Marley: Bright stars.

Jamie: Nice moon.

Marley: Yeah, it's like the summer out here.

Jamie: Everything is great.

Marley: Mm‑hmm, honey?

Jamie: Yes?

Marley: What are you up to?

Jamie: Moi?

Marley: Yes. We're dressed like Fred and Ginger.

Jamie: We make a handsome couple.

Marley: Where are we going?

[Music playing]

Jamie: Do you hear that?

Marley: It ‑‑

Jamie: You do?

Marley: Yes.

Jamie: It sounds like music.

Marley: Yes, it's coming from over there. Oh, my! Someone is having a party. Wow!

Jamie: I wonder if it's somebody we know?

Marley: Who do we know that would do some ‑‑

[Music playing]

Marley: You didn't?

Olivia: If you wanted space, this doesn't give you a whole lot.

Sam: Did I say something about space?

Olivia: Yes.

Sam: This feels like a whole lot of space to me. How about you?

Olivia: Truck loads.

Sam: I care about you so much.

Olivia: If I didn't believe that, Sam, I wouldn't be here. Maybe tomorrow we can talk ‑‑

Sam: Shh, shh.

Ada: Paulina, there's a lot of smoke coming from the ‑‑

Paulina: That's right. Please hurry. The Cory studio is on fire.

Ada: The studio's on fire?

Paulina: Amanda thinks that Alli went in there alone. She went in after her.

Ada: Paulina!

Amanda: Alli! Alli, it's Mommy. Alli, where are you baby? Baby, where are you? Alli! Alli! Alli, come on tell me where ‑‑ it's ok ‑‑ tell me where you are.

Paulina: Amanda.

Amanda: Alli!

Paulina: Amanda, you got to get out of there now. The ceiling ‑‑ Amanda, look out.

Amanda: I got to find my baby! Alli!

Paulina: Amanda, you have to leave, now! Look out! Amanda!

Amanda: [Screams]

Paulina: Amanda, can you hear me? Amanda, are you all right? Answer me!

Dean: What's behind your back, Jenna?

Jenna: A basket.

Dean: Mm‑hmm.

Jenna: [Giggling]

Dean: A basket of what? Come here. Oh! The Easter bunny's already come and gone, kiddo.

Jenna: Well, not this one.

Dean: Uh‑huh. Oh, so you're ‑‑ you're hiding Easter eggs inside my recording equipment.

Jenna: Uh, not just there actually.

Dean: Why? Why?

Jenna: Because I want to surprise Matt. What do you think?

Dean: I'd tell you to surprise him, but you're hiding stale chocolate all over my studio.

Jenna: Those chocolates are not stale.

Dean: I need a translation here, Jenna. Would you, please?

Jenna: Ok. Matt's coming home tomorrow and I thought I'd surprise him with an Easter egg hunt.

Dean: Oh, an Easter egg hunt?

Jenna: Yes.

Dean: Oh.

Jenna: What do you think?

Dean: I think that would definitely turn him on.

Jenna: I'm not trying to turn him on.

Dean: Exactly. Exactly. What are you doing ‑‑ are you for real, this Easter egg hunt?

Jenna: Well, I thought it was a very original surprise.

Dean: For a kindergarten class, yeah. Oh, Jenna, Jenna, Jenna. When I said surprise him, I meant something like modeling a new little bikini for him or popping out of the upstairs bathroom with just a towel on. You know, that kind of surprise.

Jenna: You're gross.

Dean: You're barking up the wrong tree, sweetheart. Yikes, what am I going to do with this girl, huh?

Jenna: Well, I thought it was a good idea.

Dean: Yep. Oh, let me ask you something. Was this basket full?

Jenna: Yeah.

Dean: Please tell me that you ate most of them.

Jenna: No, I haven't touched them. I've hidden them and ‑‑

Dean: Jenna, we've got to get them out of here, ok. We got to get them out, out, out!

Jenna: Why?

Dean: Because, Jenna, Lindsey is coming in 20 minutes to meet me, ok.

Jenna: So Lindsey won't see the eggs, Dean.

Dean: I don't care about ‑‑ listen, if these eggs melt on my very expensive equipment, I am going to have to have you shot at dawn, ok, if that happens. Do you understand? Do you?

Jenna: I feel like a kid now.

Dean: I'm sorry. I'll help you think of something exciting to do to surprise Matt before he gets back, all right?

Jenna: Ok, just don't tell anyone about this.

Dean: I won’t. I won’t. Will you just take these and show me where the rest of them are. These are all out in the open. Is this supposed to be hidden?

Jenna: Well, look under that table.

Dean: What? I don't see anything.

Jenna: Come here, look. See.

Dean: Oh. I don't believe you. You taped these to the desk.

Jenna: Yeah. I bet you'd never find them.

Dean: I don't believe you.

Matt: Dean, what's happening? Sorry to interrupt. Should I come back later?

Vicky: Bridget, close your eyes. I bought the skimpiest lingerie in all of Chicago. How is Steven?

Bridget: He's asleep, dear.

Vicky: What do you think?

Bridget: Well, I think why bother?

Vicky: That's what I was hoping you'd say. And this one ‑‑

Bridget: Victoria ‑‑

Vicky: Where did it go ‑‑ is for more quiet evenings at home.

Bridget: Victoria ‑‑

Vicky: Sweet, huh?

Bridget: Look, Victoria ‑‑

Vicky: Don't give me any lectures, I can afford this stuff.

Bridget: Victoria ‑‑

Vicky: Is there anything to eat? I'm starving.

Bridget: Look, I have something I have to tell you.

Vicky: Something happened.

Bridget: Your mother phoned. Carl Hutchins was over at the apartment tonight.

Vicky: Is she all right?

Bridget: Well, yes, she's fine. Ryan found out he was going to be there, so he went over and he helped your mother get him out of the house.

Vicky: I've got to call her.

Bridget: But I have something else I have to say to you, dear.

Vicky: What ‑‑ is it Ryan? Is he ok?

Bridget: Yes, he's fine, but while he was there, he got a call that there was a fire at the Corys.

Vicky: What?

Bridget: Yes, and I heard about it on the police scanner. It was a two‑alarm fire.

Vicky: Bridget, is everybody all right?

Bridget: Yes, everybody's fine. It's just that I'm so concerned about ‑‑

Vicky: Carl.

Bridget: Yes. You don't think he set the fire at the Corys, do you?

Vicky: Yes, I do. It was a message to Kathleen.

Bridget: Is she staying there, too?

Vicky: Yes, I've got to go.

Bridget: Victoria, please, don't go.

Vicky: Bridget, I have to. I have to be with Ryan. I'll call.

Bridget: What are you going to do over there during the middle of a fire?

Fireman: How many people did you say were in there, ma'am?

Ada: There were two women and maybe a little girl. She's just a little girl. She's two, going on three. Please get them out of there!

[Alarms sounding]

Ryan: Mrs. Hobbs.

Ada: Amanda's in there and Paulina went in after her. We don't know where Alli is.

Paulina: Amanda. Amanda! Amanda, can you hear me?

Amanda: [Coughing]

Paulina: Hold on, Amanda. I'm coming. I'll be right there. Hold on, Amanda.

Come on, Amanda, help me out here.

Amanda: Alli.

Paulina: Alli, tell us where you are. God, where is she?

Ryan: All right, when was the last time anyone saw the baby?

Ada: I don't know. I just came home from work and Paulina was on the phone calling the fire department, and then she ran into the studio.

Ryan: Listen, wait ‑‑ I'm Detective Harrison. Do you guys know there's a small child trapped in there? She's two, maybe three years old.

Ada: Alli, Alli, Alli, Alli, Alli.

Ryan: Look who we have here.

Ada: Look who's here, my little Alli.

Ryan: Are you ok?

Ada: Oh.

Paulina: That's it, Amanda. Lean on me. Lean on me! Oh.

Come on, Amanda. Let's go. We have to get out of here. Amanda, come on.

Dean: Wow, see, I thought you were taking the red‑eye tomorrow. What happened?

Matt: Well, I had a chance to grab an earlier flight and I took it.

Dean: Uh‑huh.

Jenna: Well, we didn't expect you back so soon.

Matt: I see that.

Dean: Well, now, wait before you start hallucinating or anything, ok, man. We were looking for something, see?

Matt: Possibly a contact lens?

Dean: No, were looking for chocolate eggs, silly.

Matt: Chocolate eggs?

Jenna: Actually it's my fault.

Matt: Your fault?

Jenna: Yeah, I thought I'd surprise you with a big Easter egg hunt as a welcome‑home present.

Matt: You did?

Jenna: Yeah.

Dean: Cute, isn't it?

Jenna: But halfway through, I figured it was a dumb idea, so Dean and I were just picking up all the eggs.

Dean: See, that is why we were under the table.

Matt: Wait, wait, wait. Who told you it was dumb? Dean?

Jenna: No, no, I just thought ‑‑

Matt: It happens to be the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me.

Jenna and Dean: It is?

Matt: Yeah, one of the nicest things. It's like you read my mind or something.

Dean: Hmm. You're saying you wanted this. You want this.

Matt: Are you kidding me? Every year at my house we have an Easter egg hunt. One year, a couple of years ago, Vicky was after Jamie. She dressed herself up in a rabbit suit. It was a riot.

Jenna: You mean you don't think this is a dumb idea?

Matt: Are you kidding me? I was feeling guilty about missing Easter, actually, kind of left out, too.

Dean: Wait, wait, wait. Let me get this straight. You still like going on Easter egg hunts? That's what you're saying? This is what you're saying?

Matt: Don't you? I mean, you guys didn't find all the eggs. There are still eggs hidden ‑‑

Jenna: No, Dean has no knack for this at all.

Dean: I don't believe this is happening. This is my business partner?

Matt: Ah‑ha! Got one!

Dean: Dean hasn't done this since he was four years old, ok.

Matt: I can find more eggs than you in five minutes.

Dean: Oh, yeah?

Matt: Yeah.

Dean: Oh, yeah? All right, you're on, pal.

Matt: Ah‑ha!

Jenna: You're getting warmer.

Dean: Who, me or him?

Jenna: Matt.

Dean: What about me, Jenna? Don't play favorites, ok. Ok, me, what about me?

Jenna: You're way off base as usual, Dean.

Matt: I will bet you I can find the most eggs. A bet.

Dean: Oh, yeah. You can't bet me, man. I have to win. See, it's like a genetic thing.

Matt: What are the stakes?

Dean: Stakes?

Matt: Put something up.

Dean: Dinner at Tops.

Matt: You're on.

Dean: You're on, Matt.

Lindsey: Matt!

Matt: Hey.

Lindsey: What are you ‑‑

Matt: Hey, Lindsey, how are you doing?

Lindsey: What are you doing here?

Matt: Early flight.

Dean: Lindsey, you're late. We're going to miss the whole opening band.

Matt: Where you guys heading?

Dean: Sting, Chicago.

Lindsey: It's just a friend thing, you know. That's all.

Matt: Great, great, have a good time.

Lindsey: What were you doing over here?

Matt: Uh, Jenna made Easter for me. You know that was real sweet of her, don't you think?

Lindsey: Yeah, that's our Jenna, sweet as pie. Welcome home.

[Flute music playing]

Jamie: And Mrs. Kelly from the Waterfront Church made the dessert.

Marley: For us?

Jamie: And sent the flowers.

Marley: I don't believe this.

Jamie: I got every merchant on the docks to pitch in.

Marley: What did you do, promise them free medical care for the rest of their lives?

Jamie: [Laughs] No. I told them it was all for you, and they were like putty in my hands. Stop looking around and let me make a toast.

Marley: Ok. I just ‑‑ I just don't believe this.

Jamie: Marley, do you remember the night of the clinic fundraiser when we had the party here?

Marley: Oh, did you have to bring up that night?

Jamie: Yes.

Marley: No, that was a terrible night. Vicky was furious with both of us. You told me that you loved me and I walked away. I went to see Jake.

Jamie: I brought it up so we could put it to rest.

Marley: How so?

Jamie: Marley, I set all of this up for you to help you forget what happened that night and to make you remember from now on what this neighborhood has meant to us.

Marley: You're so sweet.

Jamie: A toast. To us, our new life, and the moonlight.

Marley: Mm.

[Romantic music playing]

Jamie: Do you like this song?

Marley: You know I do.

Jamie: Then let's do it, Ginger. Come on.

[Instrumental music playing]

[Phone rings]

Sam: I promise to get rid of whoever it is right away. I'll be right back.

Olivia: If ‑‑ if this is Amanda, I am going to rip her hair out.

Sam: Yeah, hello.

Ryan: Sam, it's Harrison.

Sam: You've got lousy timing. What's going on?

Ryan: The Cory place, the studio. It's on fire. Listen, Amanda thought that Alli was in the fire, but she wasn’t. She's fine.

Sam: Have you seen her?

Ryan: Alli's with Ada right now, but Amanda went into the fire after her.

Sam: What are you saying?

Ryan: She hasn't come out of the fire yet. The fire, it's bad.

Sam: What are you saying, Ryan?

Ryan: The fire department hasn't found her ‑‑ just ‑‑ Sam, get over here, ok.

Ada: Alli's with Hilda. She's ok now.

Ryan: Sam's on his way.

Ada: That roof is going to cave in. It's been too long.

Ryan: It looks like they can't see through the smoke.

Paulina: Somebody help me.

Ada: That's Paulina.

Paulina: Please.

Ada: Go, go, go!

Fireman: Tony, over there.

Tony: We got to get those flames down before we go in there.

Paulina: Help me, please, help me. [Coughing]

Fireman: Do you know CPR?

Ryan: Yeah.

Ada: Sweetheart, take it easy. Watch her head. Watch her head.

Paulina: [Coughing]

Ryan: That's right. Take slow, easy breaths.

Ada: Oh, thank God.

Ryan: Come on, Amanda, look at me.

Amanda: Where's Alli?

Ryan: Alli's fine. Alli's fine, she's inside. She was never in the studio.

Ada: I'll get her.

Ryan: Are you ok?

Paulina: Yeah, I'm ok.

Ryan: You saved Amanda’s life. That was the ceiling.

Fireman: We got clearance?

Ryan: Yeah, yeah, everybody's out. Go.

Fireman: All clear.

Paulina: Is she all right?

Ryan: You did a great thing, Paulina.

Ada: Nice deep breaths.

Amanda: Where's Paulina?

Ada: Paulina. Come on. That's it. All right, all right.

Ryan: We'll know if it's an accident once we get through the investi ‑‑

Vicky: Are you all right?

Ryan: Shh. She's fine. She's clear. It's all right. No, I'm fine, Carlos. Sorry. Uh, no, no, I think I have got enough backup for now. Thanks. I'll get back in touch with you, all right? Yeah. What are you doing here?

Vicky: You have soot all over you.

Ryan: Yeah, well, there's a fire out back, Vicky.

Vicky: You didn't try to play hero, did you?

Ryan: No, Paulina handled that for me.

Vicky: Paulina?

Ryan: Yeah, she saved Amanda’s life.

Vicky: Wow, listen, any sign of Carl?

Ryan: Carl Hutchins?

Vicky: No, Marx. Of course Hutchins. Oh, I'm so glad you're all right. Is everyone else?

Ryan: Vicky, what ‑‑

Vicky: You know that he did this, don't you?

Ryan: No, I don't know that he did this.

Vicky: Bridget told me that you rescued my mother before.

Ryan: Yeah. I was able to persuade him to leave, but your Mom seemed to have everything under control. Vicky ‑‑

Vicky: Yes, my sweetness.

Ryan: What are you doing here?

Vicky: I was worried about you.

Ryan: No, you ‑‑ you can't go following me around every single time that there's an emergency.

Vicky: This is different. These people used to be my family.

Ryan: Yeah, I know.

Vicky: Besides, I know more about Carl than you do, so you need my help.

Ryan: No, I am not going to let you get involved in ‑‑

Vicky: Oh, what would I do if anything happened to you?

[Music playing]

Marley: You are without a doubt the most romantic man I've ever met.

Jamie: Do you really think so?

Marley: I really think so.

Jamie: Well, that's good.

Marley: I don't think I want to move.

Jamie: Who says you have to? I checked the papers. There's supposed to be shooting stars in a moment.

Marley: You're making that up.

Jamie: Yes, I am. But I did talk to someone and I asked them if it counted if you made a wish on a star that wasn't falling.

Marley: What did that someone say?

Jamie: Absolutely. Anything counts as long as you believe in it. Do you have a wish?

Marley: Several.

Jamie: Good. Close your eyes and make your most important wish on that star right there.

Marley: Why that one?

Jamie: Because it's not the brightest star in the sky, but it's the most wonderful.

Or maybe this is. Marley, I love you with all my heart. I've been practicing this all day.

Marley, my life, my love, will you share your life with me?

Marley: Jamie ‑‑

Jamie: Will you marry me? It's too soon, isn't it?

Marley: Jamie.

Jamie: I thought of that. I thought of everything. I thought maybe it's too soon or maybe she doesn't want to get married again or maybe we should live together first.

Marley: Jamie ‑‑

Jamie: But I wanted you to know what I felt and what a commitment means to me. That's why I thought and I thought, and then I went by this jewelry store and I saw this ring.

Marley: It's gorgeous.

Jamie: Thank you, and I went into the store and I stared at it with the jeweler for, like, 20 minutes. He kept coming down on his price because he thought I was hesitating. And then he gave me his final price and I said no.

Marley: You did?

Jamie: Yes. And I just walked out and I put the keys in my car down the street and I saw my reflection in the window. And I said don't be a chicken, man, buy it. Ask her, so if she says no, you wait. I want to be with you and I want to be able to call you my wife. I want so much ‑‑

Marley: Will you please shut up? If you stop talking, I can answer you.

Jamie: My lips are sealed.

Marley: Yes.

Jamie: Yes.

Marley: Yes.

Jamie: Say it again.

Marley: Yes.

Jamie: Are you sure?

Marley: Very.

Jamie: Marley, this is ‑‑

Marley: This is great.

Jamie: Oh, this is great.

Jenna: Sounds like you had a great time, Matt.

Matt: It was the best thing I could possibly do. I mean, we are definitely ‑‑ Lindsey, will you stop that, please.

Lindsey: You used to like it before when I did it.

Matt: Yeah. Listen, don't you guys have to get to that concert you're going to be late for?

Dean: Matt is right, he's right. We're going to be late, Lindsey.

Lindsey: Why don't you two go?

Dean: Who?

Lindsey: You and Jenna.

Dean: I thought you said you would do anything to see Sting live? What happened to that?

Lindsey: I know, but Daddy can get me tickets if I want to go.

Dean: Oh, I waited in line for four hours in the rain because you said you wanted to see Sting ‑‑ you had to see Sting.

Matt: Lindsey, it's supposed to be a great show. I think you should go.

Lindsey: I know, but I think it would be a really great thing for Jenna. She's never been to a concert.

Jenna: How do you know that?

Lindsey: Lucky guess. Besides, I have my convertible downstairs and it is a beautiful night for a drive.

Matt: Listen, I'm going to have to take a rain check on that.

Lindsey: Matt.

Matt: I am serious. I am wiped out. I came over here to get some stuff, fill you guys in, and then I'm crashing for 13 hours.

Lindsey: Oh, and when were you planning on telling me you were back?

Matt: In the morning when I felt human again.

Dean: Hey, are we going to go or not, huh?

Matt: Come on, go to ‑‑ don't be mad. Go to the concert. Have a good time.

Lindsey: Yeah, but I could go with you.

Matt: Listen, I have to get to bed. I'm tired.

Lindsey: I know.

Dean: Lindsey, it's now or never. Honey, come on.

Matt: Listen, we will spend the entire evening together tomorrow alone.

Lindsey: Mm.

Matt: All right?

Lindsey: Ok, Dean, you win.

Dean: If this is winning, I would hate to come in second.

Jenna: Have a nice time.

Dean: Yeah, we'll have a nice time if we even get to see the encore.

Lindsey: I'm calling you first thing in the morning.

Matt: Oh, no. I am sleeping late.

Lindsey: Oh.

Matt: I'll see you tomorrow.

Lindsey: Sleep well.

Matt: I will. I'm sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable. Us, you know ‑‑

Jenna: Oh, no, it's ok. I have to go home now.

Matt: Listen, you need a ride?

Jenna: No, that's ok, I'll take the bus.

Matt: Forget the bus. Come on, let me make a quick phone call to the coast and I'll give you a ride home. I'll be lucky if I'll be able to catch this guy in. He's real hard to get in touch with. It's the machine. Barry, Matt Cory. Listen, I talked to you yesterday. I'm getting a lot of movement on Dean Frame's tape. I'm fielding a few offers. You still have rights to first refusal. I need to know the answer by tomorrow. Give me a call. Important. Take it easy. I think ‑‑ that was a little white lie.

Jenna: What?

Matt: I think I just got Dean a promoter.

Jenna: There weren't any offers, were there?

Matt: Not a one, but by the time I get done, everybody's going to think that there was, and I'm having a great time doing it, too.

Jenna: I see that.

Matt: Listen, I'm wired. Why don't you stick around with me here for a little while?

Jenna: But I thought you said that you're tired.

Matt: No, you know, I like Lindsey, but I'm just not in the mood for her tonight. That's all. You're different.

Ryan: Hey, Joe, yeah, it's Harrison. Oh, yeah, everything is just fine. How 'bout over there? Good. Actually it's not. Uh, we had an awful lot of excitement over here at the Cory place. One of the out buildings caught on fire. We don't know that yet. If it was Hutchins, then we'll find out. That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Listen, I want you guys to sit tight at Tops. Don't go anywhere until you're sure you've got clearance. No, I don't want Kathleen coming back here until we can make sure it was an accident. Ok, yeah, thanks. Bye. Oh, jeez.

Vicky: Hello.

Ryan: What are you still doing here?

Vicky: You think I would leave without a good‑bye kiss?

Ryan: Vicky.

Vicky: Mm‑hmm.

Ryan: Vicky, I don't think it would be good if they caught us making out while I'm at work.

Vicky: Nobody saw us.

Ryan: Yet. Yet.

Vicky: I just talked to the fire marshall.

Ryan: You did what?

Vicky: Nice guy. Big flirt, though. Anyway, he said the fire started because of old wiring. I don't buy it and I told him so.

Ryan: I don't believe this.

Vicky: Carl Hutchins could blow up anything and make it look real.

Ryan: Why do you think you're assigned to this case?

Vicky: I am, informally.

Ryan: Oh, oh, yeah, sure. I'm ‑‑

Vicky: Carl Hutchins is a threat to my family. If there's anything I can do to get him locked up sooner, then I'm going to do it.

Ryan: Vicky, you're going to get us both into an awful lot of trouble.

Vicky: I didn't do anything wrong. I asked a few questions. I got a few answers.

Ryan: You're not a cop.

Vicky: Why are you popping a blood vessel over this? I know what I'm doing.

Ryan: Oh, yeah, that's right. Yeah ‑‑ just like with the Marius case.

Vicky: Yes, absolutely right, just like I did with Marius.

Ryan: You almost got us both killed, Vicky.

Vicky: I thought we weren't going to talk about that anymore.

Ryan: Oh, no, we weren't, until I found out that I've got to use a harness to keep you out of my business.

Vicky: Are we having a fight?

Ryan: Yes, we are.

Vicky: It's our first.

Ryan: No, it's our 300th.

Vicky: No, I mean it's our first since we...told each other how we really feel. I love making you crazy.

Ryan: Don't look at me that way.

Vicky: How much longer do you have to be here, detective?

Ryan: Not too long.

Vicky: So you really want me out of your hair?

Ryan: Personally, no. Professionally, yes.

Vicky: I'll go warm up the bed.

Ryan: Good idea.

Vicky: I bought something for you today.

Ryan: You got to stop spending so much money on me, Vicky.

Vicky: Well, it's for me, really, to wear.

Ryan: Be there in 45 minutes.

Vicky: Oh, I'll see you. And be careful.

Ryan: I will.

Vicky: Hey, Sam.

Sam: Vicky, where's ‑‑ Amanda, God, I thought I lost you. How you doing?

Amanda: I'm ok.

Sam: Eh?

Ada: Here, sweetheart.

Sam: Where's Alli?

Ada: Hilda's giving her a bath. She's fine.

Sam: Ok. Are you hurt?

Amanda: No, no, my throat and my chest hurt a little bit. I was so scared.

Sam: I know, baby, I know.

Amanda: Grandma?

Ada: Yes, honey.

Amanda: I really want to see Alli. I want to hold her.

Ada: Ok. I'll see how Hilda’s doing. Paulina, thank you. Oh, thank you.

Amanda: Paulina ‑‑ Sam, she pulled me out of the fire.

Sam: Paulina, were you hurt?

Paulina: No, no, I just swallowed some smoke. I'm ok.

Sam: You're all right, ok. All right, look, I'm going to go and see if that fire's out yet. I'll be right back. Keep warm.

Amanda: I'm sorry.

Paulina: Sorry? Amanda, I would have gone in, too, if I thought it meant ‑‑

Amanda: No, I mean what ‑‑ I'm sorry for what I said before.

Paulina: Let's not talk about that.

Amanda: I said I didn't trust you. Then you go and ‑‑

Paulina: You thought your little girl was in the fire and you ran in without thinking. I just did the same thing.

Amanda: I don't know what to say.

Paulina: Don't ‑‑ don't say anything. Amanda, you're my sister. I wouldn't leave you.

Ryan: Do you think a bad breaker could've done this? This place went up like paper, chief.

Fire chief: It's an artist studio ‑‑ open cans of paint, thinners, all kinds of things.

Ryan: I guess one spark could've made the whole place go up, huh?

Fire chief: Ah, it doesn't take much in situations like this.

Sam: Ryan, what's the story here?

Ryan: How's Amanda?

Sam: She's going to be fine. Tell me what's going on.

Ryan: They say a bad breaker, combined with some old wiring and all the paint stuff, just ‑‑

Sam: Man, I got to tell you, I used to notice that switch plate would get really hot if you left the lights on for a long time. Damn it, I should have told Rachel to get an electrician here.

Ryan: Don't worry about it, Sam. There's no way that you could've known. Thanks, chief. Listen, uh, do you know about Carl Hutchins?

Sam: You think he was involved with this?

Ryan: I've got my men investigating it right now.

Sam: All right, good.

Ryan: Yeah, I've also tightened up all security that I've already had here.

Sam: This guy tried to destroy this family once and there's no reason why he wouldn't do it again.

Ryan: Well, we're going over everything. If he was here, I'll know.

Sam: All right, listen, if Hutchins is in town, I'm getting Alli and Amanda out of here tonight. I don't care how tight security is.

Ryan: There's no reason for you to be concerned if ‑‑

Sam: Ryan, I walked right in here. No questions asked.

Ryan: Sam, you're family.

Sam: There's no one at the gate. There's no one at the gate. You've got people milling around in here. Listen, it doesn't matter. I'm getting my wife and daughter out of here tonight. I'm not taking any chances, all right? Excuse me.

Matt: You know, I never really had to work hard for anything, you know.

Jenna: Yeah, well, it doesn't seem like you take anything for granted ‑‑ I mean, considering what your family has.

Matt: I never thought I used to, but then I got involved in this business with Dean.

Jenna: What's different?

Matt: Well, first of all, my name doesn't mean a damn thing in the record business. Zilch.

Jenna: So, you sell yourself on your own.

Matt: Exactly, exactly.

Jenna: Well, that's not too hard.

Matt: You don't know how many people laughed at me when I went out to L.A.

Jenna: Really?

Matt: Are you kidding me? They were throwing me out of places. I mean ‑‑ I mean, I was prepared for it. I knew it was going to happen, but some people listened to the tape ‑‑ kind of, sort of. I've never been this excited about anything in my life. I've never known what I want to do with my life until now.

Jenna: And now you know.

Matt: Well, I'm pretty close. I think this is it, but what I need is a lot more practice, a little more practical experience, but I can do it. I can talk fast. I can schmooze. I can make deals ‑‑ all that stuff. I am as sharp as any one of those other guys out there.

Jenna: I'm sure you are.

Matt: I'm sorry, I'll take you home soon.

Jenna: Why, for what?

Matt: I must be boring you to tears.

Jenna: No, not at all.

Matt: Are you sure?

Jenna: Yes, yes, this is all very exciting for me. I mean, I'm glad I met you and Dean. I hope things work out for you guys.

Matt: This place, this little place here, this is the beginning ‑‑ the stepping stone.

Jenna: Yes, but it's a great stepping stone.

Matt: I can feel things are getting better. I love being able to get what I want completely on my own.

Jenna: It must be a wonderful feeling.

Matt: You'll be able to do it someday, you have plenty of time.

Jenna: Yeah, maybe I can take lessons from you. You'd inspire anyone to make the most out of their life.

Matt: You're very sweet. Lindsey doesn't understand how this makes me feel. Thanks, Jenna.

[Romantic music playing]

Marley: We're not eating again.

Jamie: You know, I never seem to eat when we're together.

Marley: At least we know we're never going to get fat.

Jamie: You can get fat. It's ok, I'd still love you.

Marley: You probably would. You don't have to worry though.

Jamie: You know I've done this before, Marley.

Marley: What, transform public property for a marriage proposal?

Jamie: No, just the second part.

Marley: I know.

Jamie: More than once.

Marley: I don't care.

Jamie: Are you sure?

Marley: Mm‑hmm. None of what happens before really matters, does it? It has nothing to do with us.

Jamie: No, it doesn’t. You're right.

Marley: Oh, Jamie, we had such a rough start ‑‑ I don't want to think about anything that happened before. I just want to be with you.

Jamie: I told your Dad I was doing this.

Marley: You did?

Jamie: Yes, I ‑‑ I asked for his permission, more actually like his blessing.

Marley: Nobody does that anymore.

Jamie: I know, but given my history with his daughters, I thought I would give him a chance to make a fuss.

Marley: He didn't, did he?

Jamie: No, he was great.

Marley: What if he had made a fuss?

Jamie: Don't ask.

Marley: Did you really think I wouldn't say yes?

Jamie: I thought it might have been too soon.

Marley: I made a commitment to you a long time ago. I just don't think I really realized it until tonight. I love you.

Jamie: And I love you.

[Music continues playing]

Olivia: Hi.

Amanda: I hope you don't mind us barging in like this.

Olivia: No, don't be silly. I was really scared for both of you. Are you all right?

Amanda: We were given a clean bill of health.

Sam: Why don't we get Alli to sleep, all right?

Amanda: Right.

Olivia: Well, I'm staying at aunt Liz’s tonight. So ‑‑

Amanda: Are you sure you don't mind?

Olivia: No, no, it's ok. No, just rest.

Amanda: Ok.

Sam: Look, Amanda, why don't you and Alli take the bed and I'll crash somewhere else, ok? Are you ok with this?

Olivia: Yes, you just look after them, all right?

Sam: Thank you for being so understanding about this. You're so great. I'll call you tomorrow.

Olivia: Ok.

Sam: Come here.

Olivia: Bye.

Sam: Bye.

Amanda: I'm sure she'll tire out in a minute.

Sam: Yeah, hopefully she won't remember anything when she gets up. I was so scared. I didn't think I was ever going to see you again. I wanted to die.

Vicky: [Groans] [Sighs] [Grunts]

Bridget: Oh, Victoria, now stop it. Don't worry, he'll be here, dear.

Vicky: He said 45 minutes. He's late.

Bridget: Oh, well, what's the hurry?

Vicky: Well.

Bridget: Oh, Victoria, please. You're impossible.

Vicky: I am wearing something new. I would expect him to be here on time.

Bridget: Why don't you just ‑‑ come on, tie it up a bit.

Vicky: He wasn't very happy with me for following him to the Corys.

Bridget: Well, I told you he wouldn't be, you know.

Vicky: But you understand why I had to, don't you?

Bridget: Yes, you're worried.

Vicky: Terrified. Why?

Bridget: Because you care.

Vicky: No, but he's been in dangerous situations before and I've never run after him.

Bridget: Don't you understand, dear ‑‑ you see, it's different now because it's ‑‑ your feelings for him are deeper.

Vicky: Bridget, I went crazy. That is not like me.

Bridget: No. You've been in love before, but this is the first time I've ever seen you really worry about somebody you love.

Vicky: That's because he's a cop.

Bridget: Oh.

Vicky: And it's not easy. How am I supposed to deal with him putting his life on the line every day?

Bridget: Oh.

Ryan: Vicky?

Bridget: There he is. Now don't you keep him up too late, now you hear me?

Vicky: All right.

Ryan: Hi. You know, I don't know if Carl Hutchins actually started this fire, but he's sure gotten people talking. There's not one good thing to be said about this guy anywhere. I mean, people really hate this guy. Well, I guess I can understand that because, I mean, he's ‑‑ he's smooth.

Vicky: Like oil.

Ryan: Exactly. Well, I got this guy's number. He's ‑‑ I've dealt with guys like this before.

Vicky: Mm‑hmm.

Ryan: You look nice.

Vicky: Oh, thanks.

Ryan: No, you look real nice. I'm sorry, I'm just really glad to be on this case.

Vicky: I'm not glad you're on the case.

Ryan: Why?

Vicky: 'Cause it's too dangerous.

Ryan: I know how to take care of myself.

Vicky: But I want you to take extra special, special care.

Ryan: Extra special, special care. Why, because of Carl?

Vicky: No, because I love you so much and I can't lose you.

Ryan: Now you stay right ‑‑
