Sharlene: I'm fine, Taylor. You're wrong.

Taylor: I wish I were.

Sharlene: I wrote down the address of a department store where I found these earrings.

Taylor: Is that what you think you gave to Roger?

Sharlene: Yes. He was trying to find a similar pair for his wife.

Taylor: Sharlene, you wrote down a number, you handed it to Roger, but it wasn't for a store.

Sharlene: How do you know that?

Taylor: He showed it to me. Sharlene, you gave Roger Frank your home phone number.

Sharlene: I couldn't have.

Taylor: Sharlene, it's very important that you face this. I'd have us check it out with Roger, but he's gone.

Sharlene: They haven't even given Jamie his award yet.

Taylor: I know.

Sharlene: Are you saying that he left because of me?

Taylor: Obviously, something was bothering him.

Sharlene: [Sighs] This can't be happening again, Taylor.

John: What can't?

Stacey: Wow, this is some turnout.

Jamie: The place is crawling with reporters.

Stacey: And -- well, it should be. The clinic made a big contribution to this city.

Jamie: You really think the press is here because of the clinic?

Stacey: You don't?

Jamie: Stace, I recognize some of these faces. It's the same crew that camped out on Vicky's steps, her lawn. I guess I'll have to stay away from Marley here.

Stacey: Maybe not for long. Cass has some new evidence that he's hopeful is gonna turn things around.

Jamie: I hope you're right.

Stacey: Come on, this is your big night. Look like you're happy.

Jamie: When things are like this?

Stacey: Can you pretend, please? Come on, you can manage that. Oh, here.

Jamie: I guess I'll have to or I'll blow my cover. Thank you, thank you.

Stacey: Smiling away.

Jamie: Thanks. How am I doing?

Stacey: [Laughs] Much better. Come on, think of it as P.R. for the clinic. You've done a lot of good for people.

Jamie: I know, and I'm proud of it. I just wish Marley were standing next to me so she could accept the award with me. I hate being apart from her.

Stacey: Jamie, no. Don't, for Marley's sake.

Rachel: Hey, sweetie.

Jamie: Mom, hi.

Stacey: Hi.

Rachel: Hi, Stace. Don't you look lovely.

Stacey: Oh, thanks. You look terrific.

Jamie: You're alone. Where's Ken?

Rachel: Oh, he'll be along. Something came up.

Ken: You were at Jake's that night?

Paulina: Ken, you cannot go to Rachel.

Ken: Answer the question! You were at Jake's loft the night he was shot?

Paulina: I'm trying to tell --

Ken: Just yes or no.

: Oh, no. Oh, no, it was you, wasn't it? You shot Jake.

Taylor: Gossip.

John: Gossip, huh?

Taylor: Sharlene's concerned with Grant being here, there might be some trouble.

John: Oh.

Sharlene: John, half the hospital was talking about Grant and me. I know what that did to you before.

John: Hey, I'll be fine.

Taylor: She doesn't want to embarrass you in front of all of these people again.

John: Is that it? Is that what you're worried about? Well, don't worry about that. The only person that Grant has ever embarrassed is himself.

Sharlene: Well, that's not how it was before, John.

John: I see. I'll take care of Grant, ok? Ok?

Sharlene: Ok.

John: Are you going to be all right?

Sharlene: Absolutely.

John: What about the little kid that you smuggled in here?

Sharlene: No complaints so far.

Taylor: We want to keep it that way, too, so you don't push yourself.

Sharlene: I have over a month to go, Taylor. I don't think that celebrating with my husband a little is going to hurt anything.

John: All right, that's what I like to hear.

Taylor: John, uh, Dr. Kern -- I forgot to tell you, he was looking for you.

John: Oh, yeah, why?

Taylor: I don't know. I think he wanted to talk to you privately. He's over by the dais.

John: Huh, all right. Well, I guess I'll wander over there and see if I can find him.

Sharlene: All right, fine. I'll see you back here in what, half an hour or so?

John: Why don't you make it 15 minutes? See you.

Sharlene: Thank you for not saying anything.

Taylor: I think it's best we don't tell John yet until we know what's really going on.

Sharlene: I suppose I could have been distracted.

Taylor: Is that why you think you gave Roger your number?

Sharlene: Taylor, he was talking to me when I was writing it down. I think it was probably just a mistake, a simple mistake.

Taylor: It's possible.

Sharlene: You think it was more than that?

Taylor: You want my professional opinion?

Sharlene: Yes, I suppose I do.

Taylor: Well, if you were still in therapy with me, I would suggest that this mistake, that it be seen in context with the rest of your life.

Sharlene: What context?

Taylor: Well, is it an isolated incident, or have you been forgetting other things?

Sharlene: Well, there was the oven.

Taylor: That could happen to anyone -- I've done that.

Sharlene: You know, when I was pregnant with Josie, I was distracted all the time, too. There's just so much to think about.

Taylor: But what about the shower? I mean, we've never really clarified whether that was a misunderstanding between us or whether in fact you really blocked that.

Sharlene: Why would I block out my own shower?

Taylor: Was that the day you went to Sassy's?

Sharlene: Yes, to see my nephew, and he's the one that told me about the shower.

Taylor: Now, do you normally go visit people when they're working?

Sharlene: No, but --

Taylor: Why would you go to Sassy's instead of to your shower?

Sharlene: Taylor, I didn't know about the shower.

Taylor: Sharlene, Sassy's is exactly the kind of place Sharly loved.

Sharlene: It was just coincidence. I was thrilled about the shower.

Taylor: I know that you were.

Sharlene: This baby is everything to me.

Taylor: I know that, too.

Sharlene: So I want to know. What are you saying, Taylor? Are you saying that you think Sharly's coming back?

Taylor: No, no, I'm not saying that.

Sharlene: Good.

Taylor: It's too soon to jump to any kind of conclusion like that, but Sharlene, it is -- you can't deny that it's something you're very concerned about. I want you to know that I'm there, that you can call me. I don't want you to forget that.

Sharlene: Thanks.

Taylor: Now, why don't you put all of this out of your mind. Go have some fun with that handsome husband of yours.

Lucas: It's great what you're doing, Jamie. You know, people should not be afraid to go to the doctor.

Jamie: That's exactly what Marley said.

Lucas: And I hear you have a full house every day.

Rachel: Nobody imagined that the clinic would be this successful.

Stacey: Especially the people in the neighborhood.

Lucas: Well, that's great. And Felicia sends her congratulations.

Rachel: She's not gonna be here?

Lucas: Well, Jenna's going off to school tomorrow, and she doesn't want her to be alone.

Rachel: How have they been getting on?

Lucas: Well, it's -- it's going to take some time. Jenna wants her independence. It'll be fine. Uh, can I steal Stacey?

Jamie: That's up to her.

Lucas: Ok.

Stacey: Uh, yeah. Would you excuse us?

Rachel: Yes.

Jamie: Sure.

Iris: Well, you really can be quite the gentleman when you put your mind to it.

Grant: Well, was that because I was outside waiting for you by your car?

Iris: Yes, I certainly didn't want to walk in alone.

Grant: Neither did I.

How did she get past me?

Iris: Oh, you weren't being chivalrous, you were waiting for Sharlene.

Grant: Well, even if I was, I think you owe me one, don't you?

Iris: True. I can't believe it, there's Lucas.

Stacey: Well, speak of the blond devil.

Lucas: Ah, yes. I heard that Cass has decided to have her testify. I just wanted to check with you.

Stacey: I believe there are going to be a lot of fireworks.

Iris: What a happy couple.

Grant: Hmm.

Michael: I have to say, it seemed like a really good idea to come here until we got here. Are you all right?

Marley: Yes, I'm fine.

Donna: How can you be fine? This is a terrible strain on you.

Michael: Yes, it's got to be very difficult to stand here and have to look at Jamie on the other side of the room.

Marley: Jamie's finally getting the credit he deserves for the clinic, and I do want to be here, whether we can be together or not.

Donna:: Well, we're not going to stay long. We're just going to watch Jamie get his award and we're going to go home.

Michael: Look on the bright side -- if that new evidence Cass found turns out to be something, the press may have someone new to hound by tomorrow. As a matter of fact, if that hair turns out to belong to somebody else, they may have somebody new by noon.

Marley: Really, that soon?

Michael: Yeah.

Donna: Michael, I have to go home.

Michael: Why? Are you all right?

Donna: I'm not feeling well.

Michael: You know, she hasn't been feeling right all day.

Marley: What's wrong? Are you sick?

Donna: It's nothing serious. I had a headache before and I was hoping that it would go away, but now my stomach has started to bother me, so I really just want to --

Marley: Oh, I'm sorry.

Michael: Ok, I'll drive you.

Donna: No, no, no, you stay here with Marley, and I'll just take the limo home. I'll send him back for you.

Michael: You sure?

Donna: Yes, yes, I'll see you later.

Michael: Ok, bye.

Donna: Darling.

Marley: Feel better, ok?

Donna: And I hope your father's right and that things will be really looking up for you tomorrow. Bye.

Marley: Bye.

Iris: Jamie, congratulations. It looks like all of Bay City's here.

Jamie: Thank you, Iris.

Grant: Great work, Jamie, wonderful work.

Jamie: Thank you. I didn't know you cared.

Grant: [Laughs] One more.

Rachel: Hello, Iris.

Iris: Where's Ken? Off in a corner somewhere with Paulina?

Rachel: Excuse me.

Lucas: We have to talk.

Iris: I can't imagine why. I've got nothing to say to you.

Lucas: Sure you do. It's about the night Jake was shot.

Paulina: Are you out of your mind? Of course I didn't shoot Jake.

Ken: You said you've been lying.

Paulina: Not about that.

Ken: Then about what? You went to the loft that night, didn't you? Didn't you?

Paulina: No, I didn't go to the loft.

Ken: You just told me you saw him.

Paulina: I saw him at Tops.

Ken: I already knew that.

Paulina: I saw him earlier and we talked.

Ken: About what?

Paulina: I wanted to bury the hatchet.

Ken: Where, in his chest?

Paulina: I -- we were going to be friends. He apologized for hurting me, and he even said he'd give me a recommendation if I --

Ken: Can it, Paulina.

Paulina: It's the truth.

Ken: It's a lie. They are all lies. That's all you've been doing for months.

Paulina: You are in no position to talk about lying.

Ken: Paulina, look, I saw you the night Jake was shot. You were a complete basket case. You knew Marley was going to break off the engagement, and you were terrified.

Paulina: I had had an affair with him.

Ken: Yes, and that affair was the reason Marley was breaking off the engagement. Jake knew it and you knew it. Jake had nothing more to lose. He would have blown you out of the water if he hadn't been shot. Now, come on, I'm not an idiot, Paulina. You can't sweet-talk your way out of this one.

Paulina: I haven't done anything.

Ken: Save it for the witness stand. But don't come crying to me when your scheme falls apart, 'cause I am through protecting you.

Paulina: You're trying to protect yourself.

Ken: Are you gonna tell me the truth? I think you owe me that. Fine. That says it all. We'll just let the chips fall where they may.

Paulina: Wait. Don't go.

Ken: Are you going to be completely straight with me?

Paulina: Yes, I'll tell you. Just don't go. I will tell you exactly what happened.

Lucas: Don't stonewall me, Iris. We have to talk.

Iris: Not now.

Lucas: Before you leave, if you know what's good for you.

Iris: Are you threatening me, Lucas?

Man: Will you all take your seats, please?

Lucas: Who's that?

Iris: That's Lawrence Kern. He's Bay City General's new chief of staff.

Lawrence: Tonight, we honor my colleague, Dr. Jamie Frame.

[Applause] His vision -- his vision and his hard work have created a model for community health care, saving lives by providing emergency services, and providing necessary health care for children to grow into strong adults.

[Applause] Dr. Frame.

Jamie: Thank you, thank you. Please be seated. Thank you. I'm honored and I'm grateful. Thank you, Dr. Kern. First, to Bay City General for backing this venture, and secondly, to all of you who have contributed your time and your money. I also want to thank the person who convinced me that a clinic was possible. A clinic like this just doesn't appear one day. This one started in Nice as an impossible dream. I went there to attend a medical convention, hoping to find something that would renew my faith in medicine, in people, and in myself. And I found it.

[French song playing]

Jamie: With the help of a friend, I realized that I could reach out and help those who needed it the most. I no longer felt cut off from other people.

I saw that I could make a difference, and that realization was the start of the clinic. I came back to Bay City a changed person. And I will always be thankful to that place, that time, and that person from which so much good has come. Thank you, thank you.

Iris: Would you stop following me?

Lucas: Not until you tell me what happened the night Jake was shot.

Iris: Oh, you think you're going to bully me into talking about it?

Lucas: There are new developments in Marley's case, Iris.

Iris: Oh, are there?

Lucas: Yes. Cass says he has evidence that will implicate someone other than Marley.

Iris: Well, I'm delighted for Marley, but I wouldn't know what that had to do with me.

Lucas: Of course you would, since you've been subpoenaed.

Iris: How did you know that?

Lucas: Stacey told me. You're going to have to take the stand, Iris. You'd better tell the truth. Because if you don't, I will.

Iris: You just keep out of this.

Lucas: I can't. I know where you were that night, and I know about the money.

Iris: Lucas, you promised to help me.

Lucas: I did. I kept quiet about Jake's bugging people's phones and about the $250,000 you were going to give him the night he was shot.

Iris: That's nonsense. It's absolute nonsense.

Lucas: Oh, cut out the act. I saved your behind before, but I won't, not at the expense of an innocent girl. Now, think of that before you perjure yourself.

Iris: You think that I'm the one who shot Jake? I wouldn't dirty my hands.

Lucas: Well, if you were, Cass will get it out of you.

Iris: Did -- did Felicia put you up to this?

Lucas: Iris, Felicia has nothing to do with this. This is between you and me.

Iris: I can't believe you're doing this to me, Lucas. I can't. Wasn't it enough that you walked out on me?

Lucas: Don't try the guilt-trip, not this time. It's not going to work. You did this to yourself, and Marley's not going to take the rap for it.

Iris: The D.A. is going to twist everything, Lucas. I could go to jail.

Lucas: So could Marley, and I can't let that happen. I don't care who it hurts.

Michael: Hello, Iris. What's happening?

Iris: Go away.

Paulina: The last conversation I had with Jake wasn't exactly pleasant.

Ken: You fought.

Paulina: We were at Tops and we argued, yes.

Ken: How civilized.

Paulina: I went there to pay him off.

Ken: You really thought that would work? One payment, all your problems would be solved?

Paulina: He'd won.

Ken: He only won because you let him win. All right, what happened after that meeting?

Paulina: He was in a terrible mood, almost out of control. I'm sure it was because of Marley.

Ken: But Marley hadn't broken off their engagement yet.

Paulina: Well, he knew it was coming, because something was closing in on him.

Ken: All right, he was wound up. What happened after that?

Paulina: Nothing. I never saw him again.

Ken: Paulina, I was here that night. We talked about Jake, and then you took off.

Paulina: I went for a walk, just like I said.

Ken: What else did you do?

Paulina: I called the loft later that night, but I didn't go there, and I didn't shoot Jake. I never left the Corys' property all evening, and that is the truth.

Ken: Then why does Cass want you to testify?

Paulina: There's a chance that the hairs they found on Jake's clothing could belong to me.

Ken: Really? Well, if you never saw Jake again that night, how did they get there?

Paulina: I was sitting with him at Tops, and I worked at the loft with him. It could -- you don't believe me, do you?

Ken: If Cass gets you on the witness stand, you are gonna have to tell him that Jake was blackmailing you and you are gonna have to tell him why.

Paulina: No, I won't do that.

Ken: A lawyer never asks a question he doesn't already know the answer to. If Cass has subpoenaed you, then he knows something.

Paulina: He doesn't know everything. He can't.

Ken: He'll trap you before you know what hit you.

Paulina: He won't. I can do this. We are still safe.

[Ken sighs]

Paulina: But we won't be if you tell Rachel.

Ken: She's gonna find out sooner or later.

Paulina: Not from me she won't, never from me. And just remember, Ken, if you clear your own conscience, you make me look guilty. All of a sudden I've got a real good reason for wanting Jake dead.

Ken: Oh, maybe you should have thought of that before.

Paulina: I wouldn't be in this mess if it weren't for you.

Ken: I know that.

Paulina: So, what are you going to do? Are you going to keep quiet, or are you going to set me up again?

Ken: Jamie's probably already received his award. I have to go. Rachel's waiting for me.

Paulina: You still haven't told me what you are going to do.

Ken: Oh, yes I have. I'm leaving.

Paulina: Are you going to go to Rachel? Because if you do, you're going to lose her. You know that.

Ken: Maybe not.

Paulina: The one thing she can't stand is lying. She will leave you so fast. And you won't get another chance.

Ken: Rachel's done some things in her past that weren't perfect. Maybe she will understand.

Paulina: You are dreaming! And what about the cops?

Ken: What about the cops?

Paulina: I remember the night Jake was shot, too. You left this house looking for me. That means you don't have an alibi either.

Ken: I see. You're going to dump this all in my lap, if it comes out in court. You're going to make me take the rap?

Paulina: I'm not planning on doing anything. And I won't have to if you just keep your mouth shut.

Ken: I'm late.

Paulina: Ken.

[Monitor beeping]

Donna: [Whispering] How long is this going to go on, Jake? When are you going to stop torturing me?

Rachel: I'm so proud of you, honey.

Jamie: Thank you, thank you.

Grant: That's wonderful.

Sharlene: Hey, are you ok?

Marley: Oh, yes, I'm fine. I just wish I could talk to him for a minute.

John: Would you like to go and get a drink in the other room?

Marley: No, thank you, I'm going to stay right here. He looks pretty happy, doesn't he?

Michael: Come on, Iris. I can keep this up as long as you can.

Iris: Would you please just leave me alone?

Michael: Iris, you're getting a little jumpy here. All I want to do is talk.

Iris: About what?

Michael: Well, about your subpoena, for one thing.

Iris: Why didn't Cass Winthrop tell the whole world?

Michael: Because I think he's going to let you do that, tomorrow.

Iris: Well, it's a ridiculous stunt. He should be clearing Marley rather than pointing the finger at other people.

Michael: Not other people, Iris, just you.

Iris: Michael, drop it or you'll be sorry.

Michael: No, I won't be sorry, ris. You know a lot more about the shooting than you let on.

Iris: [Yelling] I have had it with these accusations, do you understand? I am fed up! Do you understand? I am fed up!

Jamie: Iris, please come on. Lower your voice.

Iris: Shut up!

Jamie: Lower your voice, please.

Michael: A little upset, huh?

Iris: I'm sorry, Jamie. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ruin your night. It's just that other people seem to be trying to ruin my life.

Michael: What a shame.

Iris: It's all your girlfriend's fault.

Jamie: What did Marley do to you?

Michael: I think Iris just doesn't want to take the stand tomorrow.

Iris: I never said that.

Michael: Makes you wonder why, doesn't it, Jamie?

Jamie: Do you know something that can help Marley?

Iris: Is that all you ever think about?

Jamie: If you set her up, Iris --

Iris: What about you, Jamie?

Jamie: Me?

Iris: What about what you did? Yes, you, Dr. Jamie Frame. Everybody thinks you're the doctor of the year, but I know better.

Michael: What do you know, Iris?

Iris: I know why you operated on Jake. You did it to keep him quiet. You were afraid that he might wake up and tell everybody that your damn little girlfriend put a bullet through his chest!

Jamie: Iris, that's it! Out of here, now!

Rachel: Well, is someone going to stop her or shall I?

Lucas: Iris?!

Iris: I --

Rachel: Are you all right?

Jamie: Yeah, I'm fine.

Grant: Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention? Would you please take your seats? Thank you. I have an announcement to make, an announcement about Dr. John Hudson.

Dr. Frame has certainly earned his honors. And we celebrate his success tonight. But there is another man who has worked tirelessly in a much less public manner. I would like to make a toast to this man because this man saved my life and risked his career to bring the Hiver vaccine to this country -- Dr. John Hudson.

In appreciation and recognition, the Harrison family has decided to donate a research wing to this hospital.

I was very fortunate in having John Hudson as my doctor, and I want other patients to be as fortunate as I was. Thank you very much.

Michael: I'll say this for Grant Harrison -- his sense of timing is awfully good.

Marley: Mm.

Michael: You ok?

Marley: Yes. Is Jamie ok?

Michael: He's worried about you.

Marley: Please tell him to give me a call later.

Michael: Ok. Hey.

John: The board know anything about this?

Michael: I'm on a leave of absence, I have no idea. What are you going to do?

John: Say thank you, I guess. You with me?

Michael: Oh, no, no, no.

Grant: Dr. Hudson?

John: I don't know what to say. I'm shocked and certainly honored. Thank you.

Grant: This country needs more doctors like you and Dr. Frame.

Michael: As a member of the hospital board, I would like to thank you and the Harrison family for your generosity, Grant.

Grant: You're very welcome.

Michael: I tell you what. I think I should get you out of here.

Marley: No, no, not yet.

Michael: Really?

Marley: Yeah.

John: You're serious about this?

Grant: You gave me back my life, John. It's the least I can do.

John: Well, thank you.

Grant: Take good care of Sharlene. Give her what she deserves.

John: You don't have to worry about that.

Grant: I do worry about it. I'll always worry about it. But she made her decision and the decision is made. I've lost and it's over. I'll just have to live with that.

John: You know, this just doesn't sound like you.

Grant: [Laughs] I'm changing my approach.

John: Uh-huh, and all the compliments that you've heaped on me, you meant all of those, too, didn't you?

Grant: Well, after all, there are reporters around.

Sharlene: Well, Grant's really something, isn't he?

Taylor: I never expected it.

Sharlene: Maybe we can learn to live with the past. We all seem to be moving on.

Taylor: Roger Frank was in the lobby. Apparently, he hadn't left yet.

Sharlene: Did you talk to him?

Taylor: I tried to make him realize there was a slight misunderstanding, yes.

Sharlene: Well, thank you.

Taylor: Sharlene, I'm not sure if I succeeded. He may try calling you.

Sharlene: What do I do if he does?

Taylor: Don't worry about it. You can handle it.

Sharlene: [Sighs]

John: Well, I'm ready to go. How about you?

Sharlene: I thought you'd never ask.

John: I would think that this night would go down in the record books.

Taylor: Definitely. Well, you two, you sleep well.

Sharlene: You take care. Bye.

John: Good night.

Rachel: Oh, that's not going to help.

Lucas: I'm going to leave her in your hands, Rachel. I've had enough.

Rachel: Thanks a lot, Lucas. So, you're drinking again. That's your excuse?

Iris: I have to answer to you now, do I?

Rachel: Oh, yes you do. Especially when you disgrace my family.

Iris: Just making a point, Rachel, that anyone can be made to look guilty.

Rachel: Especially you.

Iris: Leave me alone.

Rachel: Not until you tell me why you wanted to ruin Jamie's evening.

Iris: I didn't want to; it just happened.

Rachel: Ah, and that vicious attack on Marley -- that just happened?

Iris: Yes, well, I'm very sorry about that, but I'm just so fed up with everyone thinking the worst of me. So, I guess that's why I did it.

Rachel: What you did was embarrass yourself and the family, Iris, which is something that you're so determined never to do.

Iris: And I am sick of everybody lecturing me -- you and Lucas and Michael. And especially you. You who can't even see the truth when it hits you in the face.

Rachel: Now we're on to Ken?

Iris: Yes. He and Paulina -- they're right in the middle of this mess. They're deceiving you.

Rachel: Oh, please, let's not go into this again.

Iris: All right, let's not. What's the point? None are so blind as those who cannot see. But I guess you'll find out soon enough.

Rachel: How? How, Iris? How will I find that out?

Iris: Well, why don't you ask Paulina? It's her fault that I'm being grilled in the courtroom tomorrow.

Rachel: Oh, you, too?

Iris: Too? You mean Paulina has to testify?

Rachel: Happy now?

Iris: Delirious. Well, speak of the devil. Here they are, the dynamic duo.

Paulina: Hello, Iris.

Rachel: Hello, you two.

Ken: Hi. Sorry I'm late.

Rachel: That's all right.

Paulina: What's with her?

Rachel: She's subpoenaed tomorrow.

Ken: I guess we missed the awards ceremony, huh?

Rachel: Yeah. What happened to the two of you?

Michael: Hello? Am I going to have to sit here and watch you watch him all night long?

Marley: It's getting a little crazy, isn't it?

Michael: This whole thing is crazy, honey. I'm getting worried.

Marley: Well, I'm ok. I just don't like when everybody gets hurt.

Michael: Look, you've got a long day in court tomorrow. Why don't you go home and get some sleep?

Marley: Ok.

Michael: Yeah? Ok, I'll take you. I have a feeling you'll look back on this whole thing with Jamie one day and laugh.

Marley: Laugh? I'll remember it; I'm not sure I'll laugh.

Jamie: I wonder what else will go wrong.

Stacey: Oh, come on. It wasn't that bad of a night. At least nobody got into a fist fight, right?

Jamie: Not yet. John and Grant seem to have signed a truce.

Stacey: Mm-hmm. And I don't think anyone really paid any attention to Iris.

Jamie: I don't care if they did. Except that it hurt Marley. She needed me tonight, Stace, and I couldn't go to her.

Stacey: You two belong together.

Jamie: Why didn't we see it before? Why did we waste so much time?

Stacey: Hey, you'll have time. Soon.

Jamie: Not soon enough. Come on. Let's leave this place before something else happens, ok?

Stacey: All right. Thank you.

Jamie: Yep.

Paulina: I almost didn't make it. I was sitting at home, feeling sorry for myself because of this court thing tomorrow. Then, I started thinking about Jamie and how hard he's worked and how proud you are. I knew I couldn't miss it.

Rachel: Good.

Paulina: I mean, after all, Amanda couldn't make it. Neither could Ada or Matt. I didn't want to let the family down.

Rachel: What's happened, Paulina?

Paulina: Nothing.

Ken: Actually, I'm responsible for the way Paulina's behaving.

Rachel: You? What have you done?

Ken: I asked Paulina a lot of questions about her court appearance tomorrow.

Rachel: Well, it obviously didn't help very much.

Ken: I'm afraid not.

Rachel: Honey, if you just relax, you'll be fine.

Paulina: I know that. I just hope they don't twist around everything I say, that's all.

Rachel: You just tell the truth and everything will go just fine.

Paulina: Look, I don't want you to ruin your evening worrying about me. I shouldn't have tagged along.

Rachel: No, it's all right. The evening is over with anyway. The ceremony's over.

Ken: How did it go?

Rachel: I'll tell you all about it on the way home.

Paulina: You're leaving already?

Rachel: Well, no point in staying. Jamie's gone. Besides, I think you ought to get home and get some rest for tomorrow.

Paulina: I just hope I can. I've never testified before.

Rachel: Paulina, you'll be fine.

Paulina: Rachel, I just want you to know that after tomorrow, I won't be the cause of any more problems.

Rachel: You're beginning to sound like one of my children.

Ken: Shall we go?

Rachel: All you have to do is tell the truth, honey. Nothing will go wrong if you do that.

[Monitor beeping]

Donna: I was always afraid they would find out. Well, tomorrow may be the day. They've subpoenaed me. And once Cass and the District Attorney start in on me, I'm not going to be able to hide it anymore. The thing is, it won't even help Marley's case. And it may hurt her and I'll lose her. You made me lose my little boy. You knew how much I loved him. My whole world is going to fall apart because of you, Jake. You are the cause of all this pain. I should have stopped you when I had the chance. You're my downfall, Jake. And I'm yours.

John: I love you.

Do you know how good it made me feel to have you there tonight? To be able to look across that room and see my beautiful wife?

Sharlene: I'm hardly beautiful, John.

John: Oh, come on. Are you kidding me? You were the most beautiful woman there.

What's wrong?

Sharlene: [Sighs]

John: You weren't upset by Grant's grandstanding play, were you?

Sharlene: No. No, I wasn't. I think it's wonderful he has finally come to his senses.

John: Well, I don't know that I'd go that far. It was a purely political move.

Sharlene: Even if it was, it got the hospital a new wing.

John: I would venture a guess that he was just trying to impress you.

Sharlene: With his father's money -- fat chance.

John: [Laughs] You are great. I knew there was a reason I married you.

Sharlene: Would you do it over again?

John: In a second.

Sharlene: Even with all the problems I've caused you?

John: Oh, Sharlene, all those problems are behind us. Just holding you in my arms lets me know that everything is going to be just the way we want it.

[Phone ringing]

John: It's a little late for somebody to be calling, isn't it?

[Phone continues ringing]

Sharlene: I'll get it.

John: No, no, no. Why should you? Hello. Hello?

Sharlene: Who was it?

John: Wrong number, I guess.

Sharlene: They hung up?

John: Yeah. I wonder who it was.

Sharlene: Maybe it was the hospital.

John: No, I don't think so. They'd have gotten me on my beeper, wouldn't they?

Sharlene: Oh.

John: Now...Where were we?

[Phone ringing]

Marley: Hello?

Jamie: Hi, Marley. It's me.

Marley: Oh, hi. It's good to hear your voice.

Jamie: How are you?

Marley: Fine. I was proud of you tonight.

Jamie: You should have been with me.

Marley: I miss you. I hate being far away from you.

Jamie: I wish I could be with you and hold you.

Marley: That would be so nice.

Jamie: We waited so long, Marley. I've wanted you ever since I first held you on the beach that night in Nice.

Marley: I've wanted you, too.

Jamie: How did we let that moment go by?

Marley: It just wasn't the right time.

Jamie: I should have done so many things differently.

Marley: Jamie, don't. We'll be together soon.

Jamie: I dream of that.

Marley: Me, too.

Jamie: I love you.

Marley: I love you, too. With all my heart.

Jamie: Good night.

Marley: Good night, my love.

[Man singing in French]

[Singing continues]
