[Knocking on door]
Amanda: Who's there?
Jamie: Your brother. Are you into cave lighting?
Amanda: How did you find me?
Jamie: I bribed the receptionist. Why are you in Iris' office?
Amanda: Well, Iris left early so I thought that it -- this was as good a place as any to hide.
Amanda: I'm not into interpersonal relationships these days. You look miserable.
Jamie: I'm worried.
Amanda: You got her released from jail this morning, didn't you?
Jamie: And then she went right back to Vicky's and that was that.
Amanda: What do you mean?
Jamie: Anytime I feel like I'm getting closer to what's really going on inside of her head, she just pulls back and lets Vicky wrap her up, but this is worse. Something's going on between those two. They're hiding something.
Amanda: Do you think that Vicky is making Marley keep something from the police?
Jamie: I'm sure she is.
Marley: Let the machine get it please.
Vicky: It's probably another reporter.
Marley: So let it ring.
Vicky: Marley, I've got to talk to them. If I don't talk to them, we're going to look guilty.
Vicky: Can I at least watch TV?
Marley: Go ahead.
Vicky: Gee, thanks, how generous of you.
News reporter: Which was recorded earlier today with Detective Ryan Harrison.
Vicky: Ryan, you son of --
News reporter: Talk about the charges. Will Marley McKinnon be found guilty?
Ryan: Forensic evidence is pretty convincing and we're waiting for more.
Vicky: Two-time, double- crossing, flat-foot --
News reporter: Mrs. McKinnon is still your only suspect?
Ryan: She's been arrested, hasn't she?
[Monitor beeping regularly]
Paulina: What did you expect, Jake? Didn't I tell you -- didn't I tell you you'd get hurt?
[Fire alarm sounding]
Ryan: Police, freeze.
[Alarm stops sounding]
Carlos: What the hell's going on in here?
Ryan: Somebody broke in. Heard me coming and took off through the bedroom. There's a fire door. It goes out to the roof.
Carlos: See him?
Ryan: No, he jammed the door before I could catch him.
Carlos: I'll take the fire stairs in the hall.
Ryan: No -- see -- check -- don't worry about it, Carlos. Whoever was up here is long gone. It doesn't look like anything is missing or stolen.
Carlos: How many times are we going to check out this place before it satisfies you, Ryan? I mean, we've been over this place on our hands and knees. Forensics spent 6 hours here after the shooting. What are you looking at?
Ryan: A watch.
Carlos: I know that. What's it mean?
Ryan: I don't know.
Marley: Let me get this.
Vicky: I'm just making it worse.
Marley: Yes you are.
Vicky: I'm sorry.
Marley: For what?
Vicky: If there was anything I could've done to have kept you out of jail --
Marley: I'm fine. See how fine I am?
Vicky: It's Ryan. I mean, it's just all Ryan's fault.
Marley: Ryan was just doing his job. He can't make exceptions for me because he's crazy about you.
Vicky: Did he tell you that?
Marley: He didn't have to.
Vicky: Why are you defending him?
Marley: Because I know he matters to you.
Vicky: He does not matter to me.
Marley: He did before all this happened.
Vicky: Yeah, well, all this happened, didn't it?
Marley: I think I was at least lucky enough to have had someone as nice as Ryan to, you know --
Vicky: Be your jailer? Forget it, Marley. I'm not going to forgive him. You know that D.A. woman with the three-piece suit, she wants it to be you so she can prove something about rich people, and Ryan caved right in.
Marley: What do you mean he caved in? He knows I was at Jake's the night he was shot. Now he knows I lied about what really happened while I was there.
Vicky: Well, I -- I still don't know why you had to tell him that Jake --
Marley: He was trying to figure it out anyway. Jake had fibers from my clothing underneath his fingernails. He tried to rape me, Vicky. Everyone knew I was hiding something. I just should have told them from the start. I know this upsets you, but I am not going to say anything else. I will never tell them you were at Jake's that night.
Vicky: I -- I, um, think I -- I need to get some air.
Marley: You're not very good sitting home, are you?
Vicky: No -- no, I think I'm just gonna call myself a -- a date.
Vicky: Well, you can bet it's not the boy in blue.
Marley: Vicky, don't give up on Ryan yet.
Vicky: Please don't start with me.
Marley: Go have fun.
Vicky: Fun. Yeah -- yeah, what a concept. Why -- why don't you come with me?
Marley: No, I'm -- I'm just going to read.
Vicky: Why? I mean, Bridget's here to take care of Steven.
Marley: It's not that.
Vicky: Well, then what is it, Marley?
Marley: It just wouldn't look right.
Vicky: What wouldn't?
Marley: Us out having fun while Jake is lying in the hospital --
Vicky: I don't want to talk about Jake. I'm -- I hate him. Just -- I'm -- I'm just going to get cleaned up.
Marley: Are you sure we're doing the right thing?
Vicky: We're, um, we're doing the only thing we can do. We both know that.
Amanda: Jamie, what do you know?
Jamie: Look, I shouldn't speculate about Marley or Vicky. It's not fair.
Amanda: Maybe it's not, but it's normal.
Jamie: That's beside the point. Now come on, pack up your things and come on home with me.
Amanda: No, I've got way too much work to do here.
Jamie: Do it tomorrow.
Amanda: I can't.
Jamie: Sure you can. You are the queen of procrastination. You know that. Come on.
Amanda: I'd rather be here. Mom has Alli out at a puppet show, and I'm not going to go home and sit by myself in front of the TV and eat.
Jamie: You never do that.
Amanda: That's about all that I have been doing lately.
Jamie: You ran into Sam, didn't you?
Amanda: So to speak.
Jamie: What happened?
Amanda: I made a total fool out of myself.
Jamie: Look, what did you do that was so terrible?
Amanda: After I left you and Stacey last night, I used my key to get into his loft.
Amanda: I just felt like it. I got in there and I started remembering all kinds of things. I sat down and all these memories came back to me, and you know that I was tired to begin with, and I fell asleep.
Jamie: So Sam came back to his loft and found you asleep.
Amanda: No, it's better than that. Sam came back with Olivia.
Jamie: Ah. Were you sleeping?
Amanda: No -- no, I was wide-awake. They were a little too busy to see me.
Jamie: Too busy -- wait a second --
Amanda: They didn't even turn the light on.
Jamie: Amanda, you stayed there while they --
Amanda: Of course not.
Jamie: I knew that.
Amanda: I made my presence known, and Sam wasn't thrilled.
Jamie: Yeah, I'll bet.
Amanda: Had a terrible fight and he told me how he really feels about me as opposed to what he said he felt about me before.
Jamie: I'm sorry, honey.
Amanda: Remember how he used to be kind of quiet? Well, Sam is very fluent now when it comes to me.
Jamie: You should stay away from him for a while, ok?
Amanda: Yeah, maybe. Look, I really have to get this editing done sometime tonight, so...
Jamie: Are you sure you are ok?
Amanda: Yeah, I've got to grow up sometime, don't I?
Jamie: I think maybe you had to do that a little too soon. Listen, I have to go set something up and then I'm going to go run and meet Marley, but if you need company now --
Amanda: No, would you go? Meet Marley. Work things out with her. At least one of us will be happy.
Jamie: I love you.
Amanda: Get out of here.
Jamie: I'm going.
Felicia: You look good.
Sam: And you -- you look like you need to tell me something.
Felicia: I do.
Sam: How was your visit with Mitch?
Felicia: Your brother and I are getting a divorce, Sam.
Sam: Whose idea was this?
Felicia: We both agreed.
Sam: Well, I don't agree.
Felicia: Honey, it's over.
Sam: When did this happen? Just like that, it's over.
Felicia: If you could just see him, you wouldn't know him. He's so passionate about his work there, like he never was here. He really should be there.
Sam: Without you?
Felicia: He needs to find somebody that he can share his life with, and I'm -- I'm just not that somebody.
Sam: Has he found someone?
Felicia: Yes, I'm -- maybe.
Sam: How could he do this to you?
Felicia: Honey, listen to me. I think we just drifted apart, and it happened long before he went to Africa, believe me.
Sam: There must have been problems that if he went there without you, there must have been problems to begin with.
Felicia: Yes, something like that I'm sure.
Sam: I know what you are going through.
Felicia: It's not easy.
Sam: Are you kidding me? It hurts like hell. Are you seeing Lucas then?
Felicia: What about you and Olivia? I mean, what's this I'm hearing, huh?
Sam: We're taking it slow, you know.
Felicia: Good. I think that's good.
Sam: And you?
Felicia: I just don't think I should jump into something right now -- not yet.
Sam: I know what you mean. After what happened to Amanda, I couldn't even think about another woman and then one day, well, I started to care about someone else. It was like I was alive again.
Man: It's Lucas again.
Felicia: You know what to do, Richard. Honey, maybe -- maybe if we had our child with us like you and Amanda. Oh, Lord, I don't know, come here. Whoever said love is easy, huh?
Reuben: Just relax, man, go ahead.
Dean: Last time I was in here I was arrested, so give me a break, would you? Look, I've got a good idea. What do you say we get out of this dump, we head for Chicago, huh?
Al: What did you call my bar, punk?
Dean: What did you just call me?
Reuben: Ho, ho, ho, ho. Al, Al, Al. Now I promised you I'd bring him here. You don't really expect him to be happy about it, do you?
Al: Don't expect me to turn cartwheels either.
Reuben: Whoa, fine.
Dean: What do you want me to do, huh? I'm a good bouncer.
Al: You couldn't bounce a cheerleader.
Dean: Do I have to put up with this every single night?
Al: You're lucky I didn't sue your pants off, you and your family.
Dean: Oh, that's about all you'd get out of my family, pal. Can I ask you something? Do you always use this can music or do you ever use a DJ?
Al: What's it to you?
Dean: It's just that I can spin a dance set, get this crowd so worked up you'd be the most popular guy in town, Al.
Al: Spin this and don't break anything, punk.
Reuben: Hey, hey, hey, hey, are you crazy, man?
Dean: Man, I wasn't going to hit him.
Reuben: Yo, just chill out, all right? I mean for crying out loud, man.
Dean: Swing it over his head. Watch him duck.
Waitress: Hi. Are you Dean?
Dean: Yes I am. Heard of me?
Waitress: Yeah, could you get me a cold case from the basement?
Dean: I'm hating this -- hating this. This is not good.
Reuben: Just grin and bear it, all right? It's better than prison.
Dean: Wait -- wait -- wait, where you going?
Reuben: I got to meet somebody. And you -- you got to go work.
Dean: Hey. Hi.
Dean: Good evening. Can I get you a drink, on the house, of course, 'cause I am the new bartender. Oh, I mean I'm the manager. What am I talking about?
Paulina: And I am Martha Washington.
Dean: Oh, excuse me, could we get that beer for the lady, please?
Waitress: Could you get that cold case from the basement?
Paulina: Smooth, Dean, real smooth.
Al: Hey, Frame, where is your broom?
Dean: Where's my broom? Where's your broom, Al?
Olivia: Get in here!
Josie: Good grief. This is your emergency?! You're baking Sam a cake and you tell me it's a matter of life or death?
Olivia: Cake -- cake! I wish it were a cake! Come on.
Josie: What is that anyway?
Olivia: That's cranberry sauce.
Olivia: And this... this is a turkey.
Josie: I can see that.
Olivia: So? What do I do?
Josie: Well, cooking it might be nice.
Olivia: Josie, no, listen, I am lost here. I can make wheat germ and yogurt frothies like nobody's business, but this -- this bird has me stumped.
Josie: Olivia, last time I checked, thanksgiving was a week away.
Olivia: I know, but this is my trial run.
Josie: Aren't you having thanksgiving at the Corys'?
Olivia: Uh-uh, uh-uh. I am cooking dinner for me and Sam.
Josie: Just the two of you?
Olivia: Just the two of us, and I want everything to be perfect, so I have to learn how to cook.
Olivia: Last night --
Josie: Did you and Sam?
Olivia: Well, we would have if Amanda hadn't been here when we got home --
Josie: Amanda? What was Amanda doing here?
Olivia: It's a long story, but actually it was for the best, you know?
Olivia: Well, any doubts that I had about whether or not Sam was over Amanda are completely gone now. I mean he really let her have it.
Josie: Well, this is so domestic, I could die.
Olivia: Do you know anything about this at all? I mean, like, which end goes up?
Josie: Well, I watch my Mom do it every year.
Josie: None of it ever sank in though.
Olivia: Oh no.
Josie: But I'm game...or this bird is.
Josie: I know. Ok -- ok.
Josie: If the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, let the games begin.
Sam: I know the way, Marilyn. Thanks, though.
Sam: Hey, I had no idea you were here.
Sam: I just did some layout work for Iris and I promised her these boards by 9:00.
Amanda: She didn't tell me she was working with you.
Sam: Yeah, it's just a freelance thing.
Amanda: Well, you could leave them here with me if you want.
Sam: You here kind of late tonight, aren't you?
Amanda: Mom's out with Alli.
Sam: Oh right, the puppet show. She was talking about that all morning.
Amanda: I really have a lot of work to do here.
Sam: Good night.
Amanda: Wait, I shouldn't have said that. I need to talk to you.
I am selfish and spoiled, and I blew it when I went with Evan. I have no excuses. I had an affair. I lied to you, and I didn't think of the consequences for myself, you, Alli.
Sam: Why don't we just forget this all and leave it all behind?
Amanda: Because I want you to realize that I'm not going to make judgments on your life. If Olivia makes you happy --
Sam: She does.
Amanda: I'm sorry I caused a scene last night. I hope it works out for both of you.
Sam: Thank you.
Amanda: There is one thing though.
Amanda: I want Alli to know that we love her.
Sam: I think she does.
Amanda: But I don't want her to sense any strain between the two of us.
Sam: Yeah, she's a sharp girl, isn't she?
Amanda: So we have to be really careful.
Amanda: Her nursery school teacher wants to meet with us, and she's coming over to the house tomorrow. I'd like you to be there.
Sam: Of course.
Amanda: Good. Unless you would rather meet at the loft; you might be more comfortable there.
Sam: If you wouldn't mind, yeah.
Amanda: No -- no problem.
Sam: Olivia will be there.
Amanda: That's fine.
Sam: Ok. I'll see you then.
Amanda: I'll give you a call or I'll leave you a message on your machine when I find out the time.
Sam: Great, ok.
Amanda, I want you to be happy. I really do.
Olivia: I can't do it.
Josie: You have to.
Olivia: Couldn't you do it?
Josie: It's your bird.
Olivia: I did it.
Josie: Feel better?
Josie: Ok, now I think you are supposed to -- to rub butter all over it.
Olivia: Ok. Butter. Butter, butter, butter, butter, butter... well, if the Manhattan Ballet could see me now.
Josie: They would think you were very well rounded.
Olivia: Thanks for the support.
Josie: My pleasure. Sam's going to think you are the sweetest thing in the whole world for doing this for him.
Olivia: Mm-hmm, if I don't poison him first.
Josie: You're really crazy about him, aren't you?
Olivia: Oh, big time.
Josie: And he's?
Olivia: Falling. He makes me feel really good about myself.
Josie: Now wait a minute, he doesn't make you feel that way, Olivia. You do that all by yourself. That's why he is falling for you.
Olivia: Oh, I suppose.
Josie: There is something I haven't told you.
Olivia: What? Did you meet a guy?
Olivia: Then what? Speak.
Josie: I got a small part.
Olivia: In what?
Josie: In a movie.
Olivia: Josie, why didn't you say something?
Josie: I don't know.
Olivia: You don't -- Josie, this is exactly what you've been waiting for. How can you -- why are you so blasé about this?
Josie: Because, Olivia, the timing stinks.
Olivia: Where is it filming? What do you play?
Josie: In L.A., a model.
Olivia: That's perfect. What, do you -- don't want to leave town while your Mom's away?
Josie: I'm just so confused.
Olivia: But this -- you can't let this opportunity get away.
Josie: That's exactly what Reuben said. He'd be going, too, as my agent/manager.
Olivia: How did that hap -- never mind, as long as it happened.
Josie: Look, I have to go over and meet Reuben and talk to him about this at Sassy's. Do you think that you can carry on from here?
Olivia: Absolutely. You go. You and I are both going to get exactly what we want. I can feel it.
Jamie: You had the answering machine on all day.
Marley: Oh, a lot of reporters called.
Jamie: Why didn't you return my calls, Marley?
Marley: Well, I needed some down time, Jamie. It's not Jake, is it?
Jamie: His condition's the same.
Marley: You understand I just need to be alone for a while.
Jamie: Where's Vicky?
Jamie: Ah. What did the two of you do all day?
Marley: I'm not sure I like your tone.
Jamie: And I don't like what you are doing.
Marley: What am I doing?
Jamie: Marley, you and Vicky have got to stop this secrecy with Cass and me.
Marley: Have you ever read this book? It's -- it's fascinating.
Jamie: Look -- look, forget that please.
Marley: Jamie, what are you --
Jamie: Get your coat.
Marley: I'm not going anywhere.
Jamie: Yes you are.
Jamie: I'm taking you some place very special.
Marley: Well, I -- I'm not in the mood for fun, if you haven't noticed.
Jamie: Well, guess what. You are coming with me. You are getting out of this house, away from your sister's watchful eyes. Get your coat, please. There is something you have to see.
Dean: Uh, pool table is going to be open in about five minutes.
Dean: I want to know if you want to play.
Paulina: You sure you want to get into that? I might be a shot.
Dean: I'll take my chances.
Paulina: Oh, hi. I am glad you came.
Amanda: I'm glad you called me. I was going to stay at the office and work all night, but Sam came by and I kind of lost concentration.
Paulina: Oh, no. Not again.
Amanda: No, it's ok, really. We cleared a lot of things up, and it was good. Can I have a double vodka on the rocks, please? It was a rough day.
Dean: Well, ready?
Paulina: Oh, I -- I've got company.
Amanda: No -- no, it's ok. Go ahead. I'm not going anywhere.
Paulina: This shouldn't take long.
Dean: That's right.
Josie: Hey, Dean.
Reuben: Josie, guess what. Guess what happened.
Reuben: Gascone called me today, and he wants me to go out there early.
Josie: What do you mean?
Reuben: Just to set up some of the paperwork, that's all. I mean -- I think this guy really likes me. He wants to introduce me to people and everything. Can you believe it?
Josie: Of course I believe it. I think it's great.
Reuben: Oh, man, it's great. It's wonderful, and, Jos, I think that we should go out there tomorrow.
Reuben: Tomorrow -- I mean, just think about it. We can go on that plane and -- and just change our whole lives.
Dean: Whoa! You are a shark. You're a vicious shark.
Paulina: Don't say I didn't warn you.
Dean: You're not exactly what I thought a Cory heiress would be like.
Paulina: What's that supposed to mean?
Dean: Nothing, just look at you, you are like a hustler. I bet the other Cory girls -- you know, the ones that were raised in the house -- I bet -- I bet they wouldn't know one end of a pool stick from the other, but not you. You are different. You are like a street smart --
Paulina: Oh, shut up, Dean.
Amanda: No, I'm fine. Thanks. Can I ask you a question? You wouldn't happen to be an artist, would you?
Man: I'm a chemical engineer. Is that a good answer?
Amanda: You just reminded me of someone. I'm sorry.
Man: Don't be. I can be somebody else.
Amanda: No, you've got the wrong idea. I'm married.
Vicky: Darryl, hi. Thanks for meeting me here.
Darryl: I didn't think I was going to hear from you again.
Vicky: Why? I always liked you and you can dance, right? Come on, doll. The reporters can't harass me if I'm dancing.
Darryl: I'm kind of hungry, Vicky.
Vicky: Yeah, well, keep me busy until they lose interest and I will buy you --
Lucas: You are here.
Felicia: Luke, hi.
Lucas: Why didn't you take my calls?
Felicia: Because I -- I need a little time to think about things.
Lucas: You can't just cut me off.
Felicia: You're right, ok. I -- I think we should go and sit down. Come on.
Marley: Why have you brought me to the courthouse in the middle of the night?
Jamie: To show you this.
Jamie: Could be the one where you'll be on trial, Marley.
Marley: I don't believe you are doing this to me.
Jamie: Take a good look around you.
Marley: How did you get a key to this place?
Jamie: Come over here.
Marley: I'm not moving.
Jamie: Fine. You know who sits here, don't you?
Marley: This is insane.
Jamie: Marley --
Marley: The jury, satisfied?
Jamie: Are you going to yell like that in front of them as they stare at you? Are you going to be able to look them in the eyes as they hear about every detail of what happened between you and Jake that night?
Marley: But they aren't going to be treating me like a child the way you are.
Jamie: What about here, Marley? What about right here? You going to have to sit on your hands to keep them from trembling? Are you going to know what to do when the D.A. asks you if you told the whole truth about what happened between you and Jake the night he was shot?
Marley: Stop it.
Jamie: Marley, in a couple of weeks this whole courtroom could be filled with people convinced that you shot your ex-husband and you are lying about it. Self-defense is a defense. Lying isn't.
Marley: I didn't shoot anyone.
Jamie: Then tell me what the hell happened! Talk to me!
Marley: I don't know!
Jamie: You do know.
Marley: Stop this.
Jamie: People go to prison for what you're doing, Marley. You thought one night in a local holding cell was rough? What are you going to do when they take you to state penitentiary for attempted murder?
Marley: Stop it!
Sam: Yes, something in here smells like thanksgiving, I think.
Olivia: I'm rehearsing.
Sam: I got everything worked out. I talked to Amanda. It's all set.
Olivia: You went to see her?
Sam: Yeah, actually I ran into her by accident over at Cory. We got the gravy. We got the cranberry. Looks great. You are not afraid that I'm going to get back together with Amanda after last night, are you?
Olivia: You said that everything was --
Sam: She apologized for a lot of things and she wished us the best of luck.
Olivia: Us? You and me?
Olivia: She is trying, isn't she?
Sam: We're meeting with Alli's teacher here tomorrow night, and I told her that you would be here.
Olivia: You did?
Sam: Yeah, and she didn't have a problem with it at all. Ok?
Sam: This place, now, is a mess. What are we going to do about this?
Olivia: Oh, I know. I -- I -- I am going to clean it up.
Sam: Forget it. You know, you look very sexy in that apron.
Olivia: Oh, yeah? Well, I feel awfully silly.
Sam: Yeah? You know what would complete the outfit?
Olivia: What, oven mitts?
Sam: And toe shoes.
Olivia: I am having such a good time here.
Sam: It's nice to be home.
Josie: I can't go with you tomorrow, Reuben. There's just -- there is no way.
Reuben: Oh -- oh, ok. All right, all right. Look, I'll go tomorrow, all right? I'll go. I'll set everything up for you --
Josie: Reuben, I'm not going at all.
Reuben: Come on, Josie, please.
Josie: Please understand.
Reuben: No. No -- no, I put my butt on the line for you.
Josie: I know you did -- I know you did. If it was any other time --
Reuben: Josie, do you want to be an actress, huh? Yes or no? Because if you want to be an actress, then you make the time. Jobs don't come every day, and when they come, you got to take them because you may not get a second chance.
Josie: You didn't discuss this with me, Reuben.
Reuben: No -- no, I didn't. I didn't think I had to. I thought we were in this together, Josie.
Josie: Reuben, you go. It looks like all kinds of doors are opening up for you.
Reuben: What? What is it? What are you afraid of?
Josie: I'm not afraid.
Reuben: What, of failing, is that it? Are you afraid to -- to fall on your face?
Josie: That's really not fair.
Reuben: Josie, what are you going to do? Are you going to stay on that farm for the rest of your life? Is that what you want?
Josie: My mother needs me.
Reuben: Your mother is gone. She thought you were old enough to make decisions. You know what? I think she was wrong. I'm going to L.A.
Josie: Good, you should.
Reuben: What are you going to do, huh? You're going to stay here, do catalogue work for "Farmers Weekly"?
Josie: Come on, Reuben. Don't -- don't leave it like this.
Reuben: No, I'm not leaving it like this. You are -- you are leaving it like this. Your mother left, but it's not your fault, Josie. You got to stop using her as some kind of excuse to be a coward for the rest of your life. I'm going. Drinks are on me, all right, because you are going to need to save your pennies.
Paulina: Well, I guess he looked like Sam a little.
Amanda: I think every dark-haired man looks like him. I swear I see Sam everywhere.
Paulina: Well, you'll get over that some day.
Amanda: I hope so. In the meantime I've got to stop staring at men. I'm going to get myself in trouble.
Paulina: I have a feeling you don't get yourself into trouble very often.
Amanda: I never used to. Look at me now.
Paulina: Amanda, everybody makes mistakes, even you.
Amanda: I don't know how. I don't know how to fail.
Paulina: You don't know how or you don't like the way it makes you feel?
Amanda: I just keep expecting everything to mend itself. I guess that's just not going to happen, is it?
Paulina: No -- no, it's not. You want things to get better, you have to make them better. Nobody can do it for you. Believe me, I know.
Reuben: I hate it when you cry.
Josie: I hate it when you're right.
Reuben: I understand, ok.
Josie: I hope so.
Reuben: So, what does a young up-and-coming agent go when packed to L.A.?
Josie: Need some help?
Reuben: Yeah. Let's go.
Amanda: The car is around the corner. I'll bring it out front, ok?
Paulina: It gets better, Amanda.
Amanda: Yeah, I hope so.
Felicia: Yes, Mitch and I definitely are getting a divorce. You know, Luke, this was not easy for either one of us, and I don't expect you to now jump up and start dancing the hora because you want to celebrate.
Lucas: Fanny, I wouldn't do that.
Felicia: You should also know that I have no intention of jumping into some kind of relationship with somebody, so you can just forget about that.
Lucas: What do you want me to do, just wait around?
Felicia: You do whatever you want. I'm not about to get into a serious --
Lucas: Come with me, please.
Felicia: What are you doing?
Lucas: Just come with me.
Felicia: No, Luke.
Lucas: Just come with me.
Felicia: Luke, you can't drag me around my restaurant like some kind of a caveman.
Ryan: Excuse me.
Vicky: As you can see, officer, I'm busy.
Ryan: We need to talk.
Vicky: Darryl, this creep is a cop, so no matter how mad he makes you, don't hit him or he'll lock us both up for kicks.
Ryan: Darryl, do you mind if I speak with your --
Vicky: You know, I saw you on TV today. You are not very photogenic, nor well-spoken. You should never lose your temper with the press.
Ryan: Darryl, pardon me.
Vicky: Oh, groovy. My favorite place, the torture chamber, and tonight, as a special added bonus, we have sub-zero temperatures for your entertainment.
Ryan: I found the watch that you won from Jake at the poker game.
Vicky: Good for you.
Ryan: It was in the loft.
Ryan: How did it get there?
Vicky: I gave it back to him because I didn't want anything that belonged to Jake.
Vicky: I don't know. Can I go now or would you like to dangle me over the edge of the terrace by my ankles for old times' sake?
Ryan: Fine, go ahead.
Vicky: Gee, thanks. It's been real.
Ryan: You know, you never did tell me how you liked the second act of "La Bohème."
Vicky: You don't believe anything I tell you, do you?
Ryan: Should I?
Vicky: Drop dead.
Darryl, I'm going to go now. I'm exhausted. I hope it wasn't too painful for you.
Dean: [Muttering to himself] Hi, I thought you left.
Paulina: Keep playing. It sounds good.
Dean: It's just some notes, you know.
Paulina: Is that one of your songs?
Dean: Yeah. Well, it's just some lyrics that I was thinking up, you know. Nobody ever really gets what I mean, whether I'm saying it or writing it.
Paulina: Try me.
Jamie: I'm sorry if I upset you.
Marley: You didn't have to do this.
Jamie: I didn't know how else to get through to you, Marley. You're throwing your life away.
Marley: It's so hard. And it's so complicated.
Jamie: Talk to me. You know I love you. Trust me, Marley.
Marley: You didn't have to do this, Jamie. I -- I just have to be strong, you see, and I am. I'm strong and -- I'm strong as Vicky and you don't know it, but I am as strong as she is!
Jamie: I know it. That's why you wouldn't come to me because Vicky was in the way, and you thought she couldn't take it if she ever found out what we felt for each other. Marley, she's still standing in the way, isn't she?
Marley: She knows -- she knows how much you mean to me and I think she understands that.
Jamie: I mean she's still standing between us in another way. She's the reason you've been arrested, isn't she? Marley... you're lying to protect Vicky, aren't you?
Vicky: Jake, I told you we should have stayed in Lassiter.
