Dean: Mm, that was a great dinner, Frankie. Great.

Frankie: Oh, thank you, honey.

Dean: I'm gonna be fat by the time I leave here.

Cass: How long would it take you to do that? I mean, for example, I can gain five pounds in just a couple of days, but some people --

Dean: Oh, you can relax. I'm not staying here.

Cass and Frankie: You're not?

Dean: Nope. And I'm not going back to Iowa.

Cass: You're not?

Dean: I'm leaving for New York tonight.

Frankie: No, you can't.

Cass: You are? Hey, kid, good luck.

Frankie: Look, hey, promise me --

[Doorbell rings]

Frankie: Promise me you won't leave tonight, all right?

Cass: Honey, you get the door, I'll take care of this.

Frankie: Oh.

Cass: It's all right.

Frankie: Ok.

Cass: Kid, you are gonna love the Big Apple. I mean, there is nothing like New York City.

Frankie: Donna --

Donna: Hi, excuse me. Cass? Cass, I'm sorry to barge in, but I have to talk to you about my daughter right now. It's urgent.

Vicky: Thanks.

Usher: Your seat is right here, ma'am.

Vicky: Thank you.

Usher: Will someone be joining you?

Vicky: From your mouth to God's ear.

Usher: Excuse me?

Vicky: Oh, uh, later.

Usher: Ah, I see.

Vicky: Is -- is this story in here? I don't understand Italian.

Jake's Voice: Marley never stopped loving me, and she's mine. [Echoing] She's mine, she's mine, she's mine...If me and Marley don't work out, then I've got nothing to lose. There is nothing to stop me from -- I don't have to continue lying. I'll blow you out of the water, Paulina. I will shoot you down just for fun, just because I'm the bad guy. [Echoing] Bad guy, bad guy...

Paulina: Oh, not the machine again. Ken, it's me. Look, I'm calling to tell you not to go near Jake. He'll be crazy if he knows that Marley wants to break up with him. Just don't do anything we'll both regret. Call me. What am I going to do?

Marley: You want to elope?

Jake: Yes, let's run away to Europe. We'll cable -- we'll send a cable back and tell everyone we got married. It'll be just like the movies. We're even going to go first class.

Marley: You already bought the tickets?

Jake: Yes, I had to if we were gonna leave tonight.

Marley: Jake, I can't do that.

Jake: Marley, I know this is all of a sudden, but it's the only way we can be alone, just the two of us.

[Phone rings]

Jake: Ignore that.

Marley: No, Jake!

Jake: Marley!

[Phone rings]

Marley: Hello?

Paulina: Jake, it's Paulina. I know you said you were busy tonight, but I have to speak to you. Jake? Who is this?

Marley: It's me, Paulina.

Paulina: Marley.

Marley: It's for you. It seems things aren't over with Paulina, are they?

Jake: Look, Marley, I don't know why she's calling.

Marley: Jake, can't you be honest with me once? Just -- just be honest with me!

Jake: What am I supposed to say? I'm telling you I want to elope. You keep talking about Paulina.

Marley: We have to talk about Paulina.

Jake: Why? She's wacky. I don't know why she won't leave me alone, but it won't matter after tonight.

Marley: Jake.

Jake: Marley, after tonight, we'll go to Europe. We'll go to Paris or Venice or London. You know, all of those old churches you keep talking about? We'll find the biggest and the oldest and we'll get married. I know -- I know, we didn't get married Catholic last time, but we will this time. I want it to be forever.

Marley: Forever? How? How, if it is all based on lies?

Jake: What are you talking about?

Marley: I know, Jake. I didn't want to believe it at first, but I know.

Jake: Have you been listening to Vicky and your mother? They are the ones that lied.

Marley: No, Jake, it was you.

Jake: What was?

Marley: I found Pat Sullivan's name in your phone book. I called him.

Jake: What did he tell you?

Marley: I pretended to be your secretary. He called back and left you a message.

Jake: Why did you do that?

Marley: He's a very obliging friend. He was very happy to keep me out of town, so you could meet up with your other woman.

Jake: What were you doing, checking up on me?

Marley: Jake, I am not the same, sweet, gullible Marley that you once knew.

Jake: Marley, I don't know what he said, but if I had known it was the same Pat Sullivan, I would have never --

Marley: You would have -- you would have what? You would have told me that you got rid of me and sent me to California, so you could go and sleep with Paulina?

Jake: No! Damn it!

Marley: Jake, they thought you were going to ask her to marry you.

Jake: I don't care what she thought. I never slept with Paulina. I never gave a damn about Paulina!

Marley: [Sighs] I don't believe you.

Jake: What?

Marley: Forget Paulina. It won't work with us.

Jake: I don't believe that.

Marley: That's why I wanted to see you tonight. It's over.

Lucas: Look --

Iris: I think you're going to regret turning down my offer.

Lucas: Maybe someday, yeah.

Iris: No, I think it will be sooner than that. Because even if Mitch and Felicia separate, which I doubt, I just don't think that you and Fanny have got what it takes.

Lucas: I think we have.

Iris: Fanny writes about men who are words, not men who are flesh and blood. She writes about a love that doesn't exist. I think it's because in spite of all this earthiness, that's the sort of love she wants. And, Lucas, my darling, you are not a romantic hero. You're a realist.

Lucas: Listen, listen, you don't know her, and you don't know what we have together.

Iris: But I know you, Lucas. And I think that this grand love of yours -- it's mostly illusion. [Sighs] You know, what are you gonna do when there aren't any objects in the way? When you're sick of playing tortured teenagers in love? When you have to wake up in the morning and look across the breakfast table and see this silly woman wearing marabou?

Lucas: That's enough!

Iris: It's not enough. It's never enough.

Lucas: Yes, ok.

Iris: You know what matters? What matters is knowing what you want and going out and getting it.

Lucas: You're right. You're right. You know who I am. And, yes, I have seen the world the way it is. And I'm going to tell you something. Someday -- someday, when you are finished destroying Paulina and then -- and crushing Rachel and getting everything you want, you're going to wake up alone wondering whatever happened to love.

Iris: You're a damn fool!

Mitch: What happened to us?

Felicia: What do you mean?

Mitch: We're living a world apart. We both seem willing to risk the one thing that, at one time, meant everything to us.

Felicia: I guess it's that we went off course a degree at a time, and we didn't see it happening. And all of a sudden, we missed the mark altogether.

Mitch: Something happened when Mac died, didn't it?

Felicia: I don't know. The world certainly was different after that.

Mitch: The way that I was with Rachel, I know that -- I know it hurt you. I know it hurt us.

Felicia: Something like that. But we should have been able to -- to survive it.

Mitch: Why didn't we?

Felicia: I think we both know that. I mean, I -- I could have kept Luke out of my life entirely, and I didn't do that.

Mitch: When I took this assignment --

Felicia: No, you had every right to take this.

Mitch: I wanted you to come with me.

Felicia: I -- I just couldn't, Mitch. I couldn't.

Mitch: People said we were, uh --

Felicia: Incompatible? [Laughs]

Mitch: Maybe they were right.

Felicia: I don't know. I did give you a hard time about never talking to me.

Mitch: Well, I could live with that, it was true.

Felicia: There is one thing that I -- I want to say.

Felicia: You always let me know, very eloquently, in your own way, that I was loved.

Mitch: Felicia --

Felicia: No, I know. I still love you, too. If I didn't, God, this wouldn't hurt so much.

Mitch: But for the two of us, is love enough?

Frankie: There's no reason for you to leave tonight.

Cass: Frankie, if that's what he wants to do --

Donna: Excuse me, I really don't have very much time.

Frankie: Why don't you talk to Donna?

Cass: Because I don't want either one of you to think that I'm putting Dean out in the street.

Dean: Look, Frankie, I'm used to being on my own. And the last thing I want to do is, you know, stay here in suburbia.

Frankie: Well, what are you gonna do in New York?

Dean: I told you what I'm gonna do. I'm going into the music biz.

Frankie: You don't just glide into New York and sign up to be a rock star, Dean. What are you gonna do in the meantime? What are you gonna live on?

Cass: And how are you gonna get there now that the "borrowed" car has been turned in?

Frankie: Cass.

Dean: Don't worry, I have a bus ticket. And -- and it's paid for.

Frankie: You've really made up your mind about this, haven't you?

Dean: Yeah, I have. I just want to thank you both for everything, ok?

Frankie: Dean, I don't think you've thought this thing out --

Dean: I'm going to go pack.

Donna: Is he gone now?

Cass: He will be.

Frankie: Thanks to you.

Donna: That must be a relief.

Frankie: Donna, that's my --

Cass: What was your pressing business, Donna?

Frankie: I'm gonna go check on Dean.

Donna: Frankie, this pertains to you, too.

Frankie: How does it pertain to me, too, Donna?

Cass: Frankie.

Donna: I presume that the two of you know that Jake is engaged to marry Marley?

Cass: Yeah, and I presume you're not too happy with that.

Donna: For a lot of reasons.

Frankie: Which ones concern us?

Donna: Well, I know for a fact that Jake has no work. He has no money. And yet, he's been throwing huge amounts of money around recently.

Frankie: And you want someone to check on where that money is coming from?

Donna: Yes. And of course I'll pay you well, but I have to have results immediately. This wedding has to be stopped.

Frankie: Ok, I can probably do some --

Cass: Frankie, you're concerned about Dean. Why don't you check on him, and I'll take care of the specifics with Donna, ok?

Frankie: Ok, sure. Thanks.

Donna: Why did you send her away?

Cass: Because I want to ask you something.

Donna: All right, what?

Cass: Does Michael know what you're up to?

Jamie: I hate it when I put him in the crib and he cries.

Rachel: I know. And he knows you're gonna hate it, that's why he does it.

Jamie: My son's a con artist, is that what you're saying?

Rachel: No, he's two and he's testing you.

Jamie: Ah.

Paulina: How are Steven and Alli?

Jamie: Alli's fast asleep, and Steven is still staying awake.

Paulina: Oh, well, maybe I should go up to them?

Rachel: No, no, no. We have to hang tough. We have to make our point here.

Jamie: Good idea. Were there any calls for me?

Paulina: Uh, yeah, Dr. Bennett called. He -- he said it's not urgent, though.

Jamie: Nothing from Marley?

Paulina: No, not that I know of.

Jamie: She's seeing Jake tonight. She's breaking off their engagement.

Paulina: Tonight?

Jamie: I know how much he's hurt you, Paulina -- so does Marley. He's hurt himself.

Rachel: Listen, would anybody like more coffee? I'll get Hilda to bring us in some. Honey, are you only wearing one earring?

Paulina: Oh, no.

Rachel: What? Have you lost it?

Paulina: I -- I guess so. I don't know.

Rachel: Well, it's got to be around here somewhere.

Paulina: They were the earrings that you gave me.

[Doorbell rings]

Jamie: I'm sure it's around here somewhere. I'll get that.

Rachel: It's not serious. Maybe you took it off when you were --

Paulina: I don't know.

Rachel: At the phone?

Paulina: I don't remember. How could I do something so stupid?

Rachel: Honey, honey, don't worry about it, we'll find it. It's got to be around here somewhere.

Paulina: I don't know. I don't remember.

Rachel: Hi, where have you been?

Ken: Had a couple of errands to run.

Rachel: Oh.

Ken: Something wrong?

Rachel: Oh, Paulina has just lost one of the earrings that I gave her. It's ok, we'll find it.

Hilda: Dr. Frame.

Jamie: Hilda.

Hilda: It's Steven. He's crying again, and now Alli's awake.

Jamie: Oh, boy. It's almost 9:00 and he's still awake.

Hilda: Should I help you?

Rachel: No, it's all right, Hilda, I'll go up. Excuse me.

Hilda: Amanda isn't back yet.

Rachel: Yeah, ok, you -- I'll take Alli, you take your son.

Jamie: Yeah, good thinking.

Paulina: You haven't been to Jake's, have you?

Marley's voice: I'm going to give my ring back to Jake. [Echoing] I can handle Jake, I can handle Jake...

Marley: Did you hear what I said to you, Jake? I want you to take this back.

Jake: No. No.

Marley: I won't keep this.

Jake: I don't believe that.

Marley: It's true.

Jake: Marley, this is what you wanted. You came here looking for me. You said you wanted to start over.

Marley: I know -- I was wrong.

Jake: Wrong?

Marley: Yes.

Jake: You weren't wrong.

Marley: Yes.

Jake: We worked out all of our problems. We love each other. We want each other. There is nothing wrong with that.

Marley: Jake, I'm sorry.

Jake: For what?

Marley: You're not listening to me, Jake. I will not marry you.

Jake: Honey, if you're mad because I said I want to elope, I can take the tickets back.

Marley: I will not ever marry you.

Jake: This is -- you came and you said you wanted to start over. You wanted to make it work again -- that was bull, huh?

Marley: No.

Jake: What started this? I want to know what started it being a lie?

Marley: You've done things.

Jake: I did things for you.

Marley: I used to believe that.

Jake: What do you mean you used to believe it?

Marley: You don't lie to people that you love.

Jake: Who is this? Jamie, Vicky -- is that who poisoned you against me?

Marley: Jake, it is not always someone else's fault. You did this. You did it to yourself, and you did it to me. And you, honey, did this to us. You.

I will always care about you. But I will not be your wife.

Jake: Tell me why?

Marley: Jake, I've been telling you and telling you, and you won't listen.

Jake: You're not going anywhere.

Marley: I just -- I just don't think we should talk anymore tonight.

Jake: You're right. No more talking -- that's what got us in trouble the first time.

Marley: Jake.

Jake: You have forgotten, Marley. All you need me to do is remind you.

Marley: Jake, don't. Don't.

Jake: Just stop talking about things that are wrong and remember things that were right.

Marley: Don't do this. Jake, don't do this! Jake, don't do this! Please, don't do this!

Donna: I'm paying your fee, what difference does it make?

Cass: It makes a difference to me.

Donna: You're not gonna help me unless Michael knows about this?

Cass: That's right.

Donna: Sorry, I wasted your time.

Cass: Still keeping secrets, huh, Donna?

Donna: Oh, Cass.

Cass: Just like when you gave Mikey back to the Millers. Only now, you're not just keeping them from Michael, you're also keeping them from Marley.

Donna: Since when did you become the arbiter of what's right and wrong?

Cass: Since never. I was actually just trying to be a friend to you.

Donna: Some friend.

Cass: If you're really worried about Jake, talk to Michael about it. Then if the two of you want to proceed with this, Frankie and I will be glad to help you.

Donna: What I will do is get another private detective and another attorney. Jake McKinnon will only marry my daughter over my dead body.

Frankie: Cass? Cass, he's gone.

Cass: What?

Frankie: Dean and his stuff, they're gone.

Cass: Well, I guess he was anxious to get out of here then, wasn't he?

Frankie: Oh, I cannot believe how hardhearted you are being about him.

Cass: Frankie, he's a crafty little liar and you're not gonna change him.

Frankie: No!

Cass: Yes! Now, I don't mind if your relatives come around, I love your family. But, Frankie, this kid is a con artist. Believe me, I know the type.

Frankie: He's honest with me.

Cass: Yeah, of course he is. That's -- that one works best of all for him. He -- he leads you to believe that -- that you're the only person in the entire world that he can level with. I used that one -- to great advantage, I might add -- for years. But, uh, I get this intuitive feeling that, um -- [Sighs] Yeah, I -- I really have this instinct about this. I get this feeling that you are going to hate me for the rest of my life if I don't convince this cute con artist that he's more than welcome to stay here temporarily, so --

Frankie: Where are you going?

Cass: To the bus station, where else?

Frankie: Oh, you're going to make a wonderful role model. I love you. I love you. I love you.

Cass: Ok.

Dean: Come on.

[Car engine starts]

Dean: Woo-hoo! All right, here we go.

Cass: Hey, it would have been easier with these, young Dean.

Paulina: Did you see Jake?

Ken: No, not yet.

Paulina: What does that mean, not yet?

Ken: I had an errand to run first.

Paulina: Look, Ken --

Ken: Paulina, if Jake is blackmailing you, then we have to stop him.

Paulina: Just let it go.

Ken: Let it go? Look what it's doing to you.

Paulina: I'm ok. Marley's breaking up with Jake tonight. If you go near him, he will tell Rachel.

Ken: Yeah, well, maybe that'd be better.

Paulina: Oh, you think it would be better for me to go back to having nothing? You'd lose Rachel.

Ken: Paulina, Jake is out of control. This thing isn't gonna have a happy ending, can't you see that?

Paulina: Why did he have to find out?

Ken: How long do you think you can keep this up? How long do you think it's gonna be before Rachel wonders why you're spending so much money?

Paulina: I told her I had debts.

Ken: Thousands of dollars worth of debts? Are you gonna hand over your whole life to Jake McKinnon? Well, what happens when you do finally run out of money? Or what happens if he finds somebody who will pay him more money than you can? Where are you going?

Iris: Come on, come on. Come on. [Sighs] Not even the damn answering machine. You were supposed to wait for my call, Jake McKinnon. If you're double-crossing me again, you're going to be very, very sorry.

Vicky: Marley? Marley, are you back? Oh, God, Jake. Answer the phone, Jake. Come on, Jake. I knew something was screwed up. Damn it, Jake!

Cass: A ping?

Dean: Yeah, well, I had heard it as you drove in tonight. It was a definite ping, this -- [High-pitched voice] Ping-ping.

Cass: Uh-huh.

Dean: And -- and I figured, as I was leaving, I thought to myself, well, you know, it's probably just the rocker arm. Why don't I take a look at it, save Cass a whole big, fat mechanic's bill and --

Cass: I only have one problem with that. If the rocker arm was messed up, why did you hot wire the ignition?

Dean: Look, why don't I just go, all right? I -- I know that that's what you want anyways, so --

Cass: Actually, I came out here to invite you to stay with us for a while.

Dean: Why don't you just tell Frankie that you couldn't catch up with me, and -- and you'll be off the hook, all right?

Cass: How much money you got, kid?

Dean: What do you care what --

Cass: Are you gonna get to New York City on your charm? And once you're there --

Dean: Once I'm there, I won't be in this crummy town, ok? I am gonna do big things with my life -- big.

Cass: Why don't you cut the act? I mean, all of it. Yeah, personally, I'd like nothing better than to see you ride off into the sunset. But Frankie is not like I am. She still believes that love and affection can turn a sneaky little thief into a regular kid. And I love Frankie, so I guess I'm gonna have to give you a chance.

Dean: What kind of chance?

Cass: You can stay with us if you cut the con. And you can help Frankie prove to me that I'm wrong about you. By the way, that's the only way you can stay. If I catch you conning her, you're out of here. And believe me, I'll know. This way you can find a job, save a couple of bucks, go to New York the right way.

Dean: Yeah, what if I don't want to do that?

Cass: You head off for the bright lights in the big city, and I tell Frankie that I didn't have any luck stopping you. I should warn you, though. This is a one-time offer, only good for about the next five minutes. So what's it gonna be?

Lucas: Is something wrong?

Frankie: Yeah, my -- my cousin, he came in from out of the blue. And he's just a kid and he's already in trouble. And Cass isn't crazy about him staying here, so, uh --

Lucas: So what happened?

Frankie: Well, Dean, my cousin, took off and Cass went out to look for him. So what's up with you?

Lucas: Felicia. I mean, I miss her. I told her I'd give her time, but I'm going crazy.

Frankie: And you haven't heard from her?

Lucas: No, that's why I came over. I thought maybe she -- she might have phoned Cass.

Frankie: No, I -- I don't think she has.

Lucas: Hmm.

Frankie: Look, Lucas, I know this is hard on you, but I really think you have to give her a little time.

Lucas: Yeah, but, I mean, we got so close. It was like -- it's like it was the beginning again.

Frankie: Well, there is this small matter of her husband. You know, you just can't pretend that he doesn't exist.

Lucas: Yeah, well, if she loved her husband so much, why did she spend the night with me?

Frankie: Lucas, are -- are you saying that --

Lucas: What I'm saying is, from where I'm standing, I think I can give her a hell of a lot better life than she's got with Mitch.

Mitch: I was remembering when we first met.

Felicia: Mm. I was still grieving for Zane then.

Mitch: I had just gotten out of prison. I couldn't figure out if I had a place in my own son's life, much less anyone else's. But when I was with you, I didn't feel like an outsider.

Felicia: You know what? You're never gonna be an outsider again. Hey, you're the one that I could really talk to about Zane. It was you that told me I could accept his death and I could move on. And I did.

Mitch: Maybe we gave each other some strength.

Felicia: I hope I gave you some. I certainly remember what you did for me.

Mitch: We're talking in the past.

Felicia: I guess. Maybe what we had in common were needs. And now those needs are satisfied. God, this is really very hard, isn't it?

Mitch: Maybe it was meant that we give each other strength. And maybe we were supposed to use that strength and grow apart. And maybe it's no accident that we were with someone else.

Mitch: But I know there will always be a place that loves you.

Felicia: I know that, too. So, Mr. Blake, what is it we're really saying to each other? Is this over?

Frankie: I had no idea of how close you and Felicia had gotten, Lucas, but she is married to Mitch. She doesn't take that lightly.

Lucas: No, I know. That's what makes Fanny, Fanny.

Frankie: And she has a big decision to make.

Lucas: She should have never been married to Mitch. We could have been together all these years.

Frankie: Should have and could have, Lucas -- Cass, you found him.

Cass: Yeah, I did. Lucas.

Lucas: Cass.

Frankie: Lucas, this is my cousin, Dean.

Lucas: Hi.

Dean: Hi.

Lucas: How you doing?

Dean: All right.

Cass: Have you heard from Felicia?

Lucas: Not yet, no. All right, look, I'll let you guys alone. Thanks -- thanks for listening to me, Frankie.

Frankie: Oh, it was my pleasure. And -- and, Lucas, look, call me if you hear anything, ok?

Lucas: Sure, sure. Bye.

Cass: Good night. Well, Dean has something to say to you.

Frankie: Good. Look, Dean, I'm really glad that Cass caught you before you got on your bus, because I know that he told you that we really want you --

Dean: I wasn't -- I wasn't at the bus station.

Frankie: That doesn't matter.

Dean: Well, yeah, it does, because, um -- well, I was out back trying to steal your car.

Frankie: You were gonna "borrow" our car, too.

Dean: And Cass caught me.

Frankie: Sorry, Cass. I thought you were being too hard on him, but I guess I was wrong.

Cass: I'm not sure yet, Frankie.

Frankie: Why not?

Cass: Well, the reason we were out there so long is that Dean and I were cutting a deal.

Frankie: What kind of a deal?

Cass: Well, you and I pick up Dean's option from week to week, provided he meets a few terms.

Frankie: And what are the terms?

Cass: One, he clears all charges against him. Two, he gets a part-time job and pays some kind of rent. And three, if he lies to either you or me, steals anything, or gets even so much as a jaywalking violation, he's history.

Frankie: Tough terms.

Dean: You're telling me.

Frankie: Did you take them?

Dean: Yeah.

Frankie: Then it sounds to me like we have a done deal. Ok? And you drive a very hard bargain, counselor.

Rachel: Where's Paulina?

Ken: Well, she was very upset.

Rachel: Yes, I know.

Jamie: About an earring?

Ken: I don't think it was just that. Anyway, she had to get out of here. I didn't try to stop her.

Rachel: Well, where did -- where did she go, do you know?

Ken: No.

Rachel: She's been so edgy lately. It's as though she's under a great deal of pressure about something.

Jamie: I think maybe Jake McKinnon has something to do with that.

Rachel: But she broke things off with him.

Jamie: I'm not sure. I think Paulina's feelings about Jake are stronger than she's admitting.

Rachel: Do you know anything about this? Has she said anything to you?

Ken: No. Can I call you later?

Rachel: Where are you going?

Ken: I think I know where Paulina went. I'm going to try and find her.

Vicky: No, I'm not worried about her. Dad, it's just that she's not here, and -- and I thought maybe she would be with you. Oh, um, I'm lying. I'm very worried about her. She told me that she was going to break off her engagement to Jake tonight. No, it's -- it's just a feeling -- twin stuff, you know.

[Doorbell rings]

Vicky: Dad, somebody's at the door. I've got to go. Don't do anything until I talk to you, and please, don't tell Mom anything. Oh, my God.

Marley: My keys.

Vicky: What happened? Are you ok? Marley? What did Jake do to you?

Marley: Um, he --

Vicky: Here you go. Come on. You're freezing. Do you -- do you want some cocoa? Marley, did you tell him? Did you tell him you can't marry him?

Marley: I tried. He wouldn't listen.

Vicky: What do you mean he wouldn't listen? He -- he doesn't have a choice.

Marley: First he didn't believe me.

Vicky: And?

Marley: He got angry.

Vicky: What did he do to you? Did he hit you?

Marley: Wouldn't let me go -- just wouldn't let me go.

Vicky: What do you mean?

Marley: He said that, uh, he knew I loved him and he was gonna make me prove it.

Vicky: Did he rape you?

Marley: God, he tried -- he tried to.

Vicky: You didn't let him, did you?

Marley: Um, we -- we just struggled.

Vicky: What happened?

Marley: Oh, God. I just wanted out. I just wanted out.

Vicky: I knew he was gonna do something like this. Baby, he's not gonna hurt you again. I'm going to take care of him.

Marley: No, Vicky. You can't -- you can't go there.

Vicky: After what he did to you --

Marley: Vicky, no, you can't.

Vicky: You bet I'm going.

Marley: You can't see him.

Vicky: He's hurt you too many times, Marley. He's not gonna get away with it again. I'll be back.

Marley: Vicky, don't.

Vicky: He's not gonna do this to us anymore.

Marley: Vicky, don't.

Vicky: Not anymore.

Marley: Vicky, no! No, Vicky!

Mitch: Do you know how I feel about you?

Felicia: Yes, I do know.

Mitch: But my work here -- there's no way that I can go back and work for Iris and do fashion photography and all of that anymore.

Felicia: Of course you can't. I know. And Dominique?

Mitch: Dominique?

Felicia: Are you in love with her?

Mitch: I don't know. And Lucas?

Felicia: I've always loved Luke. I just never thought I'd see him again.

Mitch: I knew that.

Felicia: You know, it's funny. When he came back, I -- I wondered if -- if that love you cherish when you're 16, you know, if you can build a future on it when you're in your forties.

Mitch: Did you come up with any answers?

Felicia: Yeah, one -- I don't know. Boy, between us, we don't know very much, do we?

Mitch: I thought we were supposed to get wiser the older we get. Isn't that the way it works?

Felicia: You know what? You're different.

Mitch: I am?

Felicia: Hmm. You're sure of yourself.

Mitch: So are you.

Felicia: Yeah, maybe in a way I am.

Mitch: So, we now know who we are and what we want.

Felicia: Right. And what I want isn't --

Mitch: The same as what I want.

Felicia: Well, there. We said it, didn't we?

Mitch: But it doesn't mean that if we're not sharing a life together, that the love that we had -- it doesn't mean that that was wasted.

Felicia: No. Love -- real love, is never wasted.

Jamie: There's a postcard here for Matthew from Mitch.

Rachel: Oh, yes, he's been writing us both. He's so happy. He just loves Africa.

Jamie: Good.

Rachel: Have you heard from Marley?

Jamie: No, I haven't.

Rachel: You're worried about her, aren't you?

Jamie: She's with Jake, Mom. I don't trust him.

Rachel: But that's not all there is to it.

Jamie: No.

Rachel: You love her, don't you?

Jamie: Yes, I do. And I know deep in my soul how wrong Jake is for her.

Rachel: But she's breaking things off with him.

Jamie: That's what she said.

Rachel: I hope she does call.

Jamie: Yeah, me, too. She's telling something to Jake that he definitely doesn't want to hear. You're right, I am worried. I'm afraid something bad is gonna happen tonight.

Jake's Voice: I can't get enough. Hot, driving, dynamic. Cool, precise, to the point. Romantic, seductive. I can't get enough. Persuasive. Hey hey you don't make it easy. Jake McKinnon -- you'll never need anybody else. She's so damn sexy I can't keep away I need your love I need your skin I need you baby to let me in I can't get enough of you, baby. Whatever your vision, I can take it to the limit...to the limit. It's never enough I can't get enough I'm still hungry so baby give it up 'cause I can't get enough huh it's all right it feels good when I'm in your chains. It's understood that you're my owner my only will come and get me while I'm quiet and still. I can't get enough of you baby I can't get enough. It's never enough.
