Sam: I'm here to tell Amanda what kind of man she's running away with -- the kind of man that could forge a document, the kind of man that could buy a gun in another man's --

Evan: Don't listen to the guy. He's obviously desperate. He's lost you. I mean, listen to the guy.

Sam: You've been lying since you came to Bay City and you're still lying right now.

Amanda: Then tell me what he's lying about.

Olivia: He's lying about everything -- the gun, the insurance policy. Sam didn't buy them. Evan did.

Evan: This is good. The mistress is a backup. She's your proof?

Olivia: I'm not his mistress.

Evan: Just your model, right, Sam?

Sam: You're pathetic. And you're still buying this whole story, aren't you?

Evan: You better leave Amanda out of this. I think you've hurt her enough.

Sam: Me? No, I don't think so. You're the one that tried to take over her father's company. You're the one that almost stole a million dollars and got away with it.

Evan: I didn't try to murder her.

Sam: Neither did I.

Evan: Is that why you walked out on Alli and Amanda -- because you were innocent?

Sam: The two of you never gave me a chance.

Evan: There's a way out right now, and if I were you, I would use it. It's called the door. Now get the hell out of here.

Sam: Don't you ever order me around again, especially when it comes to my family.

Evan: Oh, you don't have a family anymore. You gave up that right when you walked out on your daughter and your wife.

Sam: No, I'm not going to do it. I want to so bad, but you're not going to get me to do it.

Evan: What are you babbling about now, Sam?

Sam: Oh, I hate you more than I can say. But you're not going to make me look like a maniac. Not today, partner.

Evan: I don't have to. You're doing a good job of it all by yourself.

Olivia: If he's such a threat to society, why did you have all the charges against him dropped?

Sam: It wouldn't have anything to do with a police investigation, would it, Evan?

Evan: Listen, Amanda, you don't need to hear all this. Why don't you go downstairs and take it easy. This is between Sam and me.

Sam: No, I don't think so. This is between my wife and me. And I'd like you both to stay.

Evan: Why? Your so-called proof is against me. You're threatening me, not her. You gotta leave Amanda out of this.

Sam: Oh, are you afraid Amanda is going to hear something you don't want her to hear?

Evan: No, not at all.

Amanda: All right, Sam, where is this proof?

Sam: I'll get to that. Look at me. I want you to think about what's going to happen here. You used to be able to do that before your boyfriend came into the picture. Now think.

Amanda: I make my own decisions.

Sam: Do you? Is that how Evan helped you so much to convince you that I was plotting to kill you?

Amanda: I realized that on my own. All I had to do was look at the facts.

Sam: What facts? Think.

Amanda: The brake lines on my car were cut, for one thing.

Sam: And Evan was right there for you, wasn't he?

Evan: She was lucky I was.

Sam: Do you think this is all a coincidence? Come on, Amanda, think about this.

Amanda: Was it a coincidence that you got rid of the car the next morning?

Olivia: Evan set the whole thing up so he could rescue you and be your hero.

Evan: Oh, Olivia, come on, it's a crock.

Sam: Think, Amanda. Isn't it strange every time something bad happened, Evan was right there for you?

Evan: I was there because I care about her.

Sam: You were there because she was married to me and she wanted it that way.

Evan: No, pal, it's because I knew who you were.

Sam: Oh, right, I'm the cold-blooded killer. I'm the guy who took out the life insurance policy so I could collect big when she died. No, that's you.

Evan: Then why would you buy it?

Sam: I didn't do it. Amanda, look at me. You know I don't give a damn about money. You know that. That's Evan's specialty.

Amanda: All right, if you didn't buy the policy, then who did?

Sam: Evan.

Evan: Oh, please.

Sam: Olivia checked out the agent who wrote up the policy and he admitted to doing you a big, expensive favor.

Evan: And Olivia would go and find snowballs --

Sam: He confessed.

Evan: In hell for you, Sam.

Sam: Evan, he confessed. And I have the written statement here from your old pal Bill Levin. You remember him, don't you?

Evan: Bill Levin? I don't even know who Bill Levin is.

Sam: Oh, that's funny. He remembers you very well. Take a look, friend.

Evan: Hate to blow your story, but that doesn't mean anything. Anybody could forge that.

Olivia: But fortunately we didn't have to. He was happy to cooperate.

Sam: You don't believe me? Fine. We'll call the Bay City Police. They've got Bill Levin in custody right now. And they'll be more than happy to verify what I'm saying.

Take the phone, Amanda. Take it.

Amanda: Hello? Yes. If you can help me, I'm looking for -- hello?

God. It is true.

Vicky: [Yelling indistinctly] Cut it out!

Ryan: That's it.

Vicky: Get off me!

Ryan: Stop it.

Vicky: Jake, you --

Ryan: Stop it before somebody gets hurt.

Vicky: Of course somebody will get hurt.

Jake: I'm not going to hurt --

Vicky: Jake's here. Somebody always gets hurt.

Jake: I'm not gonna hurt Marley. I love her.

Vicky: [Laughs] Honey, that hasn't stopped you before.

Jake: You are so jealous of her, you want to wreck things for us. You can't stand to see her happy, Vicky.

Vicky: Happy? How can she be happy with a piece of --

Ryan: All right, that's it. I said stop it, and I meant it.

Jake: You ought to listen to this guy, Vicky. He sounds smart, but then again he's dating you.

Vicky: Oh, honey, I don't have to listen to anybody. I don't have to do a thing because you know what? You -- you, Jake -- are going to self-destruct.

Jake: Stay out of my life. Marley and I are fine.

Vicky: Haha. Yeah? How's Paulina?

Jake: She understands about Paulina.

Vicky: She does? Then why did she postpone the marriage?

Jake: What did you say, Vicky?

Vicky: I didn't have to say a thing. I guess it was somebody else who hates your guts.

Jake: Don't give me that.

Vicky: Ha ha ha. But if she did talk to me, I'd be sure to tell her to drop you like a hot potato.

Ryan: That's all right, pal. Take the road.

Jake: Take your hands off me.

Jake: Don't act like a cop with me, Harrison.

Ryan: I don't need a badge to deal with you, McKinnon.

Jake: You'll be sorry for this, Vicky.

Vicky: Doubt it. I think you better find out who talked to Marley before she calls off your marriage for good.

Jake: You better hope it's not you.

Vicky: Get out of here.

[Door slams]

Ryan: Boy, you two really go at each other.

Vicky: I told you we go way back.

Ryan: Now this isn't an old fight, Vicky.

Vicky: What do you know, Ryan?

Ryan: Look, something else happened -- lately. Something that made you hate Jake even more than you've ever hated him before.

Vicky: I told you.

Ryan: Now you are going to tell me what that is?

Vicky: I told you how I feel about Marley.

Ryan: That's all you're going to tell me?

Vicky: I just blew up, ok? I blew up.

Ryan: Hey, where are you going?

Vicky: I'm going to get a broom to clean up that mess so Jamie and Steven don't come out here and ask me more questions. Ok?

Paulina: Well, obviously Rachel read too much into this.

Marley: Marriage is a lot to read into something.

Paulina: Yeah, it is. You know what I bet it was? I told Rachel that all my dreams had come true when I became a member of this family, except for one -- that I planned on getting married some day.

Marley: Do you remember when you lived at Vicky's?

Paulina: Of course.

Marley: You met Jake there.

Paulina: Yeah, I think I did.

Marley: You did. Vicky told me. She said he found you very attractive and that the feeling was mutual.

Paulina: I did find him attractive.

Marley: And he offered you the job at Visions.

Paulina: Yeah. He needed someone to help out at the office.

Marley: What happened when you started working there?

Paulina: Well, I became fascinated with the business. I tried to learn everything I could so I could help out with production.

Marley: Did he come on to you?

Paulina: We worked a lot of late nights and Jake became dependent on me.

Marley: And that's when you developed your attraction for him -- your crush?

Paulina: I thought he was interested in me for more than just business. I was wrong. Marley, why are you asking me all these questions?

Marley: Well, since Jake and I got engaged, I've just been hearing some stories.

Paulina: So why are you asking me? Ask Jake.

Marley: Oh, I have. Um, but --

Paulina: But what? Marley, if you don't trust this guy, why are you marrying him?

Marley: Oh -- oh, I do trust Jake. It's just that nobody is very neutral about him. You either love him or you hate him.

Paulina: So?

Marley: So a lot of people like to think that he has ulterior motives, even when it comes to marrying me.

Paulina: But you don't?

Marley: No, of course I don't. Jake and I love each other very much. It's just that I don't like hearing people make accusations about him and do nothing about it. I like to find out where rumors get started.

Paulina: So other people are saying things about Jake and me other than Rachel.

Marley: Yeah, I've heard -- heard things -- yes.

Paulina: What about ?

Marley: Well, he says the same thing that you said. He said that you had a crush on him and he tried to let you down easy. He said that you got uncomfortable and didn't want to work for him anymore.

Paulina: So why can't you let it go?

Marley: He said he tried to let you down gently.

Paulina: He did. He said there was no room in his life for me because he was getting back together with you.

Marley: That's what you said before.

Paulina: Marley, you think I'm spreading some other story -- telling people other things?

Marley: Oh, I don't know. Maybe Rachel was talking to someone else about you. What do you think?

Paulina: Well, maybe you should ask Rachel. Look, I wish I could tell you more, but I really can't. I'm, uh, not really enjoying rehashing all this. I'm sure you can understand.

Marley: No, actually, I don't understand --

Evan: I can explain.

Olivia: It's all here in black and white.

Sam: The game's over, Evan -- for good this time.

Amanda: It's a sworn statement. Did you do this?

Evan: Amanda, you were trapped, miserable. You didn't want to be with Sam. Come on, your marriage was almost over. He was jealous, suspicious.

Amanda: With good reason.

Evan: But, see, you belong with me. But he would never let you go. So I had to take things into my own hands.

Amanda: Why like this?

Evan: Because I would have lost you. Don't you see you would have gone back to him? And then nobody would have been happy.

Amanda: Happy? Do you think I was happy thinking that my husband was trying to kill me?

Evan: But I had to do something. I had to find a way to show you that Sam isn't right for you.

Sam: Making her think I tried to kill her -- that's really something, Evan.

Olivia: You trashed Sam's whole life just to get what you want.

Amanda: You planted the gun. You trashed my car -- you tampered with my car?

Evan: Mm-hmm. I did. But I never hurt you. I had to -- I had to figure out a plan, see? To get Sam out of our lives forever. That's what you wanted. You see, I did it for you. I did it for us so that we could spend our whole lives together.

Sam: You're good, Evan. You almost got away with it, too.

Amanda: What about the elevator shaft?

Evan: Oh, I fell, but you were the one who pointed the gun.

Amanda: The gun that you planted. You had me convinced that he was a psychopath.

Evan: You know these last few months have been the best months of my life. I've never known anything more wonderful than loving you.

Amanda: Wonderful? My life has been hell, Evan.

Sam: And Evan was always there whispering in your ear, saying, "you don't have to trust anybody but me."

Amanda: I thought you were different with me -- honest. But I guess I was wrong, wasn't I? There wasn't an honest thing between us. It was all a lie.

Evan: Hmm. Not the fact that I love you and the fact that I would do anything to be with you. So you tell me how all that can be wrong?

Amanda: That's not love. And Alli -- you did this to her? You destroyed her life.

Evan: Amanda, I love Alli. You see, all this is gonna blow over.

Amanda: I hate you.

Evan: It's going to blow over. And you are going to thank me.

Amanda: I hate you.

Evan: No, you're going to thank me one day.

Amanda: I hate you!

Evan: I'm going to make you understand -- after they're gone. Then we'll talk. I'll be back. I will.

Amanda: You were right all along. I was so wrong. How could I ever have believed him instead of you?

Sam: He turned the two of us into strangers before he started his little plan.

Amanda: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Sam: None of this would have happened if you would have been honest with me. I asked you over and over again to tell me the truth. I told you I'd forgive anything. But you had to protect what you did with him, didn't you?

Amanda: I never meant to hurt you. I was scared.

Sam: And your fear was greater.... or me.

Amanda: I -- I don't know. I don't know what to say.

Sam: There's nothing to say anymore.

Amanda: This is probably out of the question, but you think you could ever forgive me?

Sam: You think "I'm sorry" is going to make everything better? You slept with him, Amanda. You believed him when he told you I was trying to kill you. I can't even think about forgiveness.

Amanda: But you came all the way down here.

Sam: You think I came to win you back? I don't care who you're with. I don't care how you feel. None of that is important. The most important thing in my life right now is that I clear my name. For myself and for Alli's sake. That's all.

Amanda: But everything is changed now. This changes everything.

Sam: It doesn't change the fact that you stopped believing in me.

Amanda: Sam, you were so distant. You slashed my picture.

Sam: I got a little frustrated, Amanda. Can you understand that? I mean, the person who loves you all of a sudden decides one day they're not going to believe you anymore. You refused to level with me. Then you and your family -- they started believing his crap. You know, I mean Olivia was the only one to believe me through this whole thing. The rest of you treated me like a criminal.

Amanda: You got to understand, Sam, there was so much evidence against you -- I mean --

Sam: Olivia didn't buy it. Why did you?

Amanda: Because she didn't think that somebody was going to kill her in her sleep.

Sam: For God's sake, Amanda, I was your husband!

When did I ever try to hurt you or your family? And Evan -- a guy who has a record of deceit a mile long. You believed his lies because you wanted him. It's all over. I just want to get Alli and get out of here.

Amanda: You're taking Alli?

Sam: You think I'm going to leave her near him?

Amanda: Where are you taking her?

Sam: Out of this mess where she belongs, home with me.

Amanda: What about me?

Sam: Evan can take care of you. You seem to prefer his style. Olivia, let's go.

Vicky: Oh, I'll do this.

Ryan: It's too bad, it looked like a nice piece.

Vicky: It's a wedding present, full of ribbons. Ryan --

Ryan: It's none of my business. You don't have to tell me anything.

Vicky: Yes, I do. You're right about Jake and me. It was -- it was more than just an old fight.

Ryan: There's more than just Marley?

Vicky: Yeah, a lot more. How do I say this? Jake uses women. He has a radar and he zeroes in on women that are feeling unloved. First he makes them feel wanted.

Ryan: That doesn't sound so awful.

Vicky: Wait. Then he starts to make his demands. Jake always wants something and he usually gets it.

Ryan: Like what?

Vicky: Sometimes it's money. Some -- sometimes it's more. But he has it out for all the women in my family.

Ryan: And even your mother?

Vicky: Hmm.

Ryan: What -- what can he do with her?

Vicky: He talked her into going into business with him. No, he more blackmailed her into it. And she wanted to leave, and --

Ryan: And?

Vicky: All you have to know is there's nothing I wouldn't do to stop Jake from marrying my sister.

Marley: Well, I hope you don't think I was too abrupt. I appreciate your time.

Paulina: It's quite all right.

Marley: I just wanted to get everything out in the open.

Paulina: I understand. Marley, if something had happened between Jake and I and I thought there was a chance, why would I lie to you about it?

Marley: I don't know. I do have one more question though. Do you remember the time that you came to the gallery to pick Jake up to go out?

Paulina: Yeah, that was the night that Rachel decided to accept me into the family. Of course I do.

Marley: And you wanted to be with Jake.

Paulina: Yeah, we went out to celebrate -- as friends. Jake was one of the few who took me seriously. He was really sweet.

Marley: I see, that's -- that's very strange.

Paulina: Why?

Marley: Well, Jake had told me that you two spent the whole night working on a project -- a re-shoot that just couldn't wait.

Paulina: We were. That's right, we were. We went out afterwards.

Marley: Oh, I see.

Paulina: We were starved.

Marley: Yes, I'll bet you were. Good-bye.

[Door opens]

Jake: Let's go outside before somebody sees us.

Paulina: What are you doing here? What are you doing here?

Jake: I came by to check up on you. And what do I find? You and Marley having a heart to heart.

Paulina: She came over here.

Jake: You called her?

Paulina: No.

Jake: You think you can double-cross me? You think you can get rid of me by spilling your guts to Marley?

Paulina: I didn't tell her anything, Jake.

Jake: You better be leveling with me.

Paulina: I am. I swear it.

Jake: Let's go outside and get some things straight.

Evan: I think everything is going to be ok because we have each other.

Amanda: You really think that I want to be with you now?

Evan: Well, you were wearing my ring an hour ago.

Amanda: An hour ago I didn't know what a liar you were.

Evan: You never would have left him, Amanda.

Amanda: That's right, Evan.

Evan: And we're not the kind of people that sit around and wait for things to happen.

Amanda: Well, I am. I let this happen to me -- and Sam and Alli.

Evan: If you want to achieve your dreams, you've got to take life into your own hands and go after it --

Amanda: And what -- distort it? That's exactly what you did. You walked into our lives and you spoiled all the love that was there. And I let you do it.

Evan: I only wanted to offer you something better.

Amanda: You didn't offer me anything. You took away all my choices. You set me up as much as you did Sam.

Evan: But I can make you happy again. You just have to give me another chance.

Amanda: Evan, I gave you too many chances already. I believed you when you said you were misunderstood. I took your side against my family and my husband. And you treated me like I was some company that you were taking over. The end justifies the means.

Evan: To me it did, because I was in love with you.

Amanda: But you never trusted me enough to love you on my own. You never trusted yourself enough to let me come to you. Or to accept the fact that maybe I didn't want to do that. You had to control everything. You had to play god.

Evan: I just wanted to make you happy.

Amanda: Well, you failed. And you ruined four people's lives in trying.

Evan: Where are you going?

Amanda: I'm leaving. I'm getting my things. I want you out of my sight as soon as possible.

Ryan: Why don't you let Marley decide who she wants to marry?

Vicky: You don't know Jake.

Ryan: That's true. But I do know one thing, which is when you interfere in somebody's life -- even if you're going to try and stop them from screwing up -- they rarely, if ever, say "thank you."

Vicky: I should've left Jake in Lassiter. I should have stayed in Lassiter.

Ryan: Vicky, this is not your fault. Marley is a big girl and you've got to think about your own life.

Vicky: I'm not worried about my own life right now.

Ryan: Well, I'm worried about your life.

Vicky: Why?

Ryan: I care about you. Don't you know that?

Vicky: You care about me? What does that mean?

Ryan: That -- that I like you. And that I'm worried for you when you're upset, like you are now.

Vicky: Is it that, or you just want to forget that I was ever involved with a jerk like Jake?

Ryan: Hey, I don't care who you've been with. It's in the past. I'm much more concerned about the present.

Vicky: Yeah, me, too.

Ryan: Good. Then we agree on something.

Vicky: Mm-hmm.

Ryan: And for the record, I think that -- well, I admire you for the way that you defend your family.

Vicky: Well, thank you.

Ryan: I have to get going. I have a stakeout in process.

Vicky: Any good story involved?

Ryan: Well, I could let you know.

Vicky: How about I come along?

Ryan: Haha. No, that would be a bad idea.

Vicky: Oh, come on, I just thought --

Ryan: That I would rather be here with you.

Vicky: Hey, duty calls.

Ryan: Exactly.

Vicky: What about tomorrow night? You want to go dancing or something?

Ryan: No, actually I have plans.

Vicky: What plans?

Ryan: Well, how about the night after that?

Vicky: I -- I'm not finished with tomorrow night. What are you doing tomorrow night? What's the deal?

Ryan: I'm busy.

Vicky: How busy?

Ryan: It's poker night.

Vicky: You're not serious?

Ryan: Yeah -- with the guys. I never miss it.

Vicky: Never?

Ryan: Never. Not if I can help it.

Vicky: So you're gonna spend the night with the guys rather than spending the night with me?

Ryan: For one night of the week? Yeah.

Vicky: Come on, Ryan. This is me you're talking to. What are you really doing tomorrow night?

Ryan: I already told you.

Vicky: So you tell me that you care about me and the next thing I know you're dumping me for a bunch of guys with chips and cigars.

Ryan: Look, I've already told -- I told you that I cared about you. That doesn't mean that I think that we should live together.

Vicky: You really are dense.

Ryan: I -- dense?

Vicky: Just -- just get out of here, ok?

Ryan: You're kicking me out for one lousy night for poker?

Vicky: Ryan, just get out of my life.

Paulina: Why did we have to come all the way out here?

Jake: Because I don't trust you. I don't want Rachel or Jamie to interrupt our little chat.

Paulina: How many times do I have to tell you? I didn't call Marley.

Jake: Then why was she here?

Paulina: Rachel told her that I was nuts about you. That I thought you were going to marry me.

Jake: Did you tell Rachel?

Paulina: Not much really.

Jake: Come on, Paulina, she just dreamed this whole thing up? That's why she kicked me out the other night, isn't it?

Paulina: I said it to her when I thought it was true. Before I knew you were just interested in money, you see.

Jake: Well, now you know the score, don't you?

Paulina: That's right. I do.

Jake: You set Rachel straight. Then you don't ever mention my name, you got that?

Paulina: Oh, believe me, Jake. There's nothing I'd like more than to never speak your name or see your face again.

Jake: If Marley finds out about us, she'll break the engagement. And then I won't have any choice -- I'll just have to break your heart.

Paulina: Don't give yourself so much credit.

Jake: You'll find out all about heartbreak if the Corys find out that you're a fake. And they will. You don't play this right, your little free ride is over for good, Paulina Cory.

Sam: Got 'em.

Olivia: Are we set?

Sam: We are set. We got the last flight out tonight.

Olivia: Was there a problem? You were gone a while.

Sam: No, I was lucky to get these seats, though. There were four cancellations. Otherwise we'd be stuck in this joint till morning.

Olivia: I'm glad it worked out.

Sam: Yeah, me, too. I cannot wait to leave this place behind.

Olivia: Where is Alli?

Sam: She just went down the corridor to get some juice with Hilda.

Olivia: How is she doing with all of this?

Sam: You know, I don't know if she understands because I don't know if I understand what's going on.

Olivia: I can see how hard this has been for you.

Sam: You know, I thought I'd love saying that all to Amanda, but I don't know, it just really didn't feel that great.

Olivia: Are you having second thoughts?

Sam: No, no.

Olivia: You know it was obvious that Amanda really didn't know what Evan was doing. Do you think you might forgive her eventually?

Sam: Why?

Olivia: Because I think that's what she's hoping for. She's hoping that you'll take her back, that Alli will bring the two of you together again.

Sam: I don't know what she wants, you know. And if that's it, she's kidding herself.

Olivia: Then what about Alli?

Sam: What can Amanda and I give Alli living like that, you know? In doubt constantly. It's pointless.

Woman: Flower for your love?

Sam: What?

Woman: They're beautiful. Like your lady.

Sam: Yeah, I'll take one. How about this one?

Woman: You are in honeymoon?

Olivia: No, no.

Woman: Maybe someday.

Sam: There you go. Keep the change.

Woman: Thank you.

Sam: Let's see what we got here.

Olivia: Wow.

Sam: I know this isn't nearly enough, but tonight I am starting a whole new life over. And you, you were the one who gave me that chance.

Vicky: Well, I'm sure all the guys are waiting for you to figure out what kind of sandwiches you are going to eat tomorrow night.

Ryan: So what? Do you still think I'm lying?

Vicky: I just think your love for poker surfaced at a very convenient time.

Ryan: So am I just supposed to be at your beck and call?

Vicky: Ryan, it does not take Columbo to figure it out when you are being fed a bunch of bull.

Ryan: You know, this may come as a surprise to you, but I did have a life before I met you. And poker was a part of it.

Vicky: So where do I fit in? Between the poker and the stakeouts?

Ryan: What's really eating at you?

Vicky: I open up to you. The next thing I know, you're busy. Let's just say it's a pattern I recognize.

Ryan: So I listen to you and now I'm obligated to date you every single minute, is that it?

Vicky: You are not obligated to --

[Doorbell rings]

Vicky: You would think I would be able to get some peace and quiet at my own home. What do you want?

Marley: I'm sorry to interrupt you two again.

Vicky: You're not. Ryan was just leaving. He has a life of his own.

Marley: Hello, Ryan.

Ryan: Listen, don't cross your sister tonight. She's already at ground zero.

Marley: What -- what was that all about, Vicky?

Vicky: Nothing important. Ryan is just conning me, that's all.

Marley: I think Jake's conning me, too.

Vicky: Let me get this straight. You think Jake is having an affair?

Marley: I know he was seeing someone before I got back.

Vicky: And you think it's still going on?

Marley: I don't know. He keeps saying things that are contradicting each other.

Vicky: Do you have any idea who it might be?

Marley: Well, that's what I'm trying to find out. But I tell you, I'm not going to give up until I know who she is.

Vicky: Who is your prime suspect?

Marley: Someone we both know. Now, I have heard from a couple of people that Jake and Paulina have been doing more than working together.

Vicky: So you think it's Paulina?

Marley: I don't know. I didn't think so at first. I thought it was too obvious. I didn't think Jake would have an affair right under my nose.

Vicky: Why? It wouldn't be the first time.

Marley: Vicky, please! He is trying so hard to change. We're getting married.

Vicky: Maybe.

Marley: Hopefully.

Vicky: All right. What did Jake say?

Marley: What do you think he said?

Vicky: He denied it up and down.

Marley: Of course he did.

Vicky: And Paulina?

Marley: Paulina admits she had a crush on him.

Vicky: Crush? What's a crush? She wanted him to take her to the prom?

Marley: Vicky, she said it was only one-sided. Just her.

Vicky: No, that's not possible with Jake. She's lying through her pearly whites.

Marley: You seem so sure of yourself.

Vicky: Jake was here tonight.

Marley: What happened?

Vicky: Well, he was screaming at me, blaming me for telling you to postpone the wedding.

Marley: But you didn't.

Vicky: I know that. But somebody got him all riled up. My vote is Paulina.

Marley: All right, maybe she's still covering for him, hoping that I drop out of the picture.

Vicky: What started you thinking about all this?

Marley: Something Rachel said.

Vicky: Rachel?

Marley: She said that Paulina was expecting a ring from Jake.

Vicky: She wouldn't think that unless Jake wanted her to think that.

Marley: You think I'm a fool, don't you? I mean you think I'm absolutely crazy for trying to work out a marriage that can't be worked out. That I'm trying to save something that I didn't save before.

Vicky: I -- I think you always want to do the right thing and give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

Marley: I have to know for sure.

Vicky: Then we need something concrete.

Marley: What are you thinking?

Vicky: A woman always leaves something at a guy's place when she's sleeping with him.

Marley: I don't.

Vicky: You're perfect.

Marley: No, I'm obviously not perfect if my husband -- my ex-husband has been lying to me and I'm falling for it.

Vicky: Well, that's what we have to find out for sure.

Marley: All right, what do you have in mind?

Vicky: I say we go through Jake's loft and see if we can find any telltale signs that Paulina left.

Marley: Vicky, even if we do find something, it doesn't prove that he's having an affair with her.

Vicky: It does if it's a bra.

Marley: You're right. Oh, I don't know. I don't like this.

Vicky: If we don't find something, all the better, but if we do find something, then you can break off your marriage with Jake knowing that you can't trust him anymore, right?

Marley: Yeah, I guess.

Vicky: Come on. You look terrible. You'll get through this.

Marley: I'll do it.

Vicky: You will?

Marley: Tonight. I may need your help.

Vicky: Are you kidding? What are sisters for?

Olivia: Oh, are you ready to get on the plane?

Sam: Look what you got here. Ready? There you go. She's gonna be ready in just a second. It'll help stop the ears from popping. It's a long flight, too, so we got a big sucker.

Olivia: You're such a great father. I don't think I realized until just now how hard it was for you to be away from Alli.

Sam: Yeah. I hated every minute of it.

Olivia: I hope you can forgive me for making it even longer. If I had told you the truth right from the start --

Sam: Olivia, you told me, ok? That's what's important and don't worry about it. That's my girl.

Olivia: I would never do anything like that again.

Sam: You know I believe you. You know that, don't you? You know you're not like Evan. That's why. It's not in you.

Olivia: I never meant to lie to you. I did it that once and I just couldn't get out of it.

Sam: I understand. Don't worry about it, ok?

Olivia: It was so dumb.

Sam: You're young. You are entitled to a few dumb mistakes, ok?

Olivia: Does this mean we can start over?

Sam: Hey, friends can always start over. Alli, right? Right, sweetheart? There you go.

Evan: Where are you going?

Amanda: I'm leaving.

Evan: No, you are not, we ha ....??

Amanda: All you have ever thought about is yourself.

Evan: Don't you dare leave. Because together we can figure out a way to deal with this.

Amanda: That's just like you, isn't it? Figure out a strategy. That's how I got in this mess in the first place. So if you'll move out of my way --

Evan: No, no, you are not going anywhere. You need to rest. See, that's the only way you can really deal with Sam.

Amanda: Sam is through fighting and so am I.

Evan: So how are you --

Amanda: I'm going home.

Evan: Are you? How are you going to deal with your family?

Amanda: I've got to face them sometime.

Evan: Well, we'll answer questions together.

Amanda: Evan, stop it. We are not together anymore.

Evan: You told me that you hate me. So that means you have feelings for me.

Amanda: Yeah, I feel something for you. But it's not enough to keep me here.

Evan: So what is it?

Amanda: Actually, I pity you. Because you don't have enough faith in yourself. Or in me. Or in the power of love.

You had some good in you. But you destroyed it all with your lies. And God help me, I couldn't see it.

Evan: Don't you walk out on me!

Amanda: I have to. I can't even look at you without getting sick to my stomach. I have to go back to all those people that I hurt and beg them to forgive me.

Evan: Amanda.

Amanda: It's over, Evan. I don't ever want to hear your voice or see your face again.
