Woman: First time in front of the firing squad?
Olivia: Excuse me?
Woman: It's your first audition for the conservatory, right?
Olivia: No, no. But I'm hoping they'll forget that. I was here last year, and it was a complete disaster.
Woman: Look, the more of these you do, the easier it gets.
Olivia: Then why am I completely panicked? I'm up in a couple of minutes, and I can't remember any of my steps -- nothing. I have this -- this vision that I can't shake, you know? It's of me falling flat right on my --
Sam: Relax, you're not going to fall. You're going to go right out there and blow their toeshoes right off.
Ryan: Thank you.
Amanda: Could you check the weight room and the pool? Yes -- Sam Fowler. Thank you. If you do find him, can you have him call his -- um, have him call Amanda? Thank you.
Evan: You look gorgeous.
Amanda: This is so frustrating.
Evan: Wait a minute, that wasn't the reaction I had in mind.
Amanda: I'm sorry. Sorry. He was supposed to call. I me sometimes I think he does this just to drive me crazy.
Evan: Well, let me drive you crazy.
Amanda: Evan, this is serious.
Evan: Come on, let's forget about the divorce for a while. There's a party. Let's go have some fun. Come on.
Amanda: I'm going to get the door. I'll get it.
Marley: Hello, Amanda. You look beautiful.
Amanda: Thank you, so do you. Hi, Jake.
Amanda: Come on in.
Evan: Hey, Jake, by the way, congratulations on the good news.
Jake: Thank you.
Iris: Well, well, well, if it's not Bay City's happiest couple -- the bride and groom-to-be.
Jake: Hello, Iris. We were wondering if we were going to be the first to arrive.
Iris: Oh, don't be silly. I'm not going to miss a bit of this party. It's going to be fascinating.
Marley: I'm sure it will be. Has my mother by any chance arrived?
Amanda: I saw her a few minutes ago talking to Jamie.
Donna: I know my own daughter. She doesn't love Jake.
Jamie: I can't help that. Marley's made her choice.
Donna: So you're going to stand there and watch her throw her life away? You're not even going to try?
Jamie: What I'm not going to do is discuss this with you, Donna.
Donna: Jamie, please. I have to speak for Marley because she always puts other people's feelings ahead of her own.
Jamie: Especially Jake's.
Donna: And Victoria's. If you're holding back because of Victoria, don't. I promise you, she'll get over it.
Jamie: Marley doesn't seem to think so.
Donna: You're acting like none of this affects you, but I know it does.
Jamie: Donna, how many times do I have to say this? It's Marley's decision.
Donna: And how many times do I have to say that her marriage to Jake will be a disaster and you know it? I know it. It's obvious to both of us because we love her. Don't we?
Ryan: You hear anything juicy?
Paulina's voice: Dear Rachel, I'm so sorry I did this. You have to know that I never meant to hurt you. But I've come to care about you too much to continue with this lie. I'm not Mac's daughter, Rachel. Probably not Maria's either. I hope you won't hate me too much. Love, Paulina.
Rachel: Paulina? Paulina, you're not even dressed yet.
Paulina: I couldn't. I can't go through with this, Rachel. I'm sorry. I appreciate everything you've done, but I can't face all those people downstairs, so I'm leaving.
Donna: Hi, darling.
Vicky: You two having a heart-to-heart? How touching.
Donna: How long have you been standing there?
Vicky: Long enough. Jamie, will you excuse us? I'd like to talk to my mother, please.
Jamie: Be my guest. I don't have anything else to say.
Vicky: Ryan, will you make yourself scarce for a few minutes? I don't need any witnesses while I kill my mother.
Ryan: Vicky --
Vicky: Thank you. How could you?
Jamie: I think Paulina should be here soon.
Jake: Ada, we are going to have a church wedding, a big reception, a honeymoon that goes on forever and ever. Show her the ring, show her the ring!
Ada: Holy cow, somebody get my sunglasses! Look at this thing! Is it real?
Jake: Two and a half perfect carats. Yes!
Ada: I hope it's insured.
Jake: Don't worry, I took care of it.
Marley: Of course it's insured. It's insured. Although I do have a hard time wearing it sometimes. It's awfully big and I don't want to lose it.
Jamie: Marley. Jake.
Jake: Jamie, we were just telling Ada about our wedding plans.
Jamie: Oh, you've been so busy, Jake, I'm surprised you could make it tonight.
Marley: Oh, well, we can't stay long actually. We just came for Paulina's sake.
Jamie: Stay as long as you like.
Marley: Thank you.
Iris: I hate to mix business with pleasure, but do you think I could drag your fiancÚ off for a minute, please?
Jake: Not now, Iris.
Iris: I'm sure Marley wouldn't mind. She knows it's important or I wouldn't dream of doing it.
Marley: Well, of course. Ada and I will catch up, won't we?
Ada: Sure. Listen, it looks like Jake has finally gotten what he wants.
Iris: You've got a lot of nerve showing up here, particularly with that trusting child on your arm. What are you doing, tempting fate?
Jake: I'm not afraid of you or anyone, Iris. I make my own fate.
Iris: Well, you better be prepared for it to catch up with you.
Felicia: Ada, hello.
Ada: How good to see you.
Felicia: Oh, it's nice to see you.
Ada: You look gorgeous as always.
Iris: Wonderful, wonderful. All I need to make this evening complete.
Iris: Well, hello, Felicia.
Felicia: Hello, Iris.
Iris: Where's Lucas?
Felicia: Don't start, please.
Iris: Don't tell me you didn't bring your old flame. With Mitch off in deepest, darkest Africa, what's holding you back?
Ada: You are just itching for a fight, aren't you?
Felicia. It's ok. I really am sorry that things didn't work out between you and Luke.
Iris: Oh, spare me, Felicia. You're the biggest reason why things didn't work out between us.
Felicia: You know that's not true.
Iris: Well, now that Mitch is away, you can have him all to yourself.
Felicia: Iris, I know you're hurting, and I know you want to blame me. But the truth is, if Luke really loved you, really loved you, wild horses couldn't drag him away.
Paulina: I mean it, Rachel. I think it's best for everyone if I just go.
Rachel: Why, Paulina? Why? The people who are downstairs are friends and family. They're delighted that you found us. All they want is a chance to get to know you better. There's nothing to be afraid of there.
Paulina: I don't belong here.
Rachel: Of course you do. That's what this party is for, to convince you and everyone else. Aren't you going to wear this pretty dress?
Paulina: That dress has nothing to do with who I am.
Rachel: No. But it has everything to do with who you are becoming. Oh, Paulina, you've dreamed of this. Why can't you enjoy it?
Paulina: I wish I could.
Rachel: This is our fault, isn't it? We put you through such intense scrutiny. You still feel like an outsider and we've expected you to do a complete turnaround.
Paulina: It's not that.
Rachel: We've gotten off on the wrong foot, haven't we? This party will give us all a chance to start off fresh.
Paulina: Oh, Rachel.
Rachel: Paulina, I have confidence in you. So would Mac. Put on your dress. Everyone downstairs is a friend, believe me. Let's try and make this a happy evening, all right?
Paulina: Do you -- do you think that Ken will be here?
Rachel: No, I don't. I think he's all wrapped up in the dig. I wouldn't count on it.
Olivia: Thank you. There's two people ahead of me now.
Sam: Well, I guess we have time for some coffee then, huh?
Sam: I'm kidding. Come here, you need to loosen up. Turn around.
Olivia: I'm going to blow this whole thing, I just know it.
Sam: Hey, no negative thoughts here. They're not permitted.
Olivia: You're right. You're right.
Sam: Of course I'm right. That's why we're going to talk about something else. Come here.
Olivia: I -- I can't believe that you came here all the way from Bay City.
Sam: Well, I know how hard you worked on this audition. I decided I wanted to come to New York and be in the wings waiting for you, give you a hand to hold.
Olivia: My father was supposed to do that but he couldn't --
Sam: Be here, I know. I tried sending some flowers over the apartment, but the doorman refused and he said there was no one in residence.
Olivia: Right, well, I decided to stay at the plaza. It seemed just a little less lonely somehow.
Sam: Russ let you down again, didn't he?
Olivia: But you didn't. You never do.
Sam: Don't make too much of that. I had to come to New York to check out the galleries anyway.
Olivia: Did you call the conservatory and find out when my audition was?
Sam: Good work, Sherlock.
Woman: You're up next, Olivia.
Olivia: Thank you. This is it.
Sam: How long is this going to be now?
Olivia: This is not going to be very long. So, look -- look, they won' let you wait back here, so why don't you wait for me back at my hotel room, ok?
Olivia: All right.
Sam: Listen, you do not worry about me. You go out there and you show them who you are.
Olivia: Who is that?
Sam: Juliet, of course. You've always had this part. Now, you go out there and you knock 'em dead, ok?
Amanda: No, thank you, Caroline. I just thought that maybe Sam would've left a number where he could be reached. Yes. Thank you, I would appreciate that. I'll be at home if you hear from him. Goodbye.
Evan: Any luck?
Amanda: Thanks. Caroline doesn't know where he is either.
Evan: Oh. Well, Sam seems to be making a habit out of disappearing. You should be used to that by now.
Amanda: It's not me that I'm worried about, it's Alli.
Evan: Oh, yeah, he's proving to be a good father. That's for sure.
Amanda: I was hoping we could come to some sort of understanding about some things before the divorce was final.
Evan: You talked to him.
Amanda: I guess it's hopeless.
Evan: You know what I wish? I wish I had a magic wand that I could wave and make everything ok.
Amanda: I wish it was that easy.
Matt: Amanda, a columnist wants to speak to the family spokesperson. Mom's not around, so --
Amanda: Um, you were answering her questions or --
Matt: Yeah, she was asking about Paulina and Iris was hovering. Do you think you can --
Amanda: Take care of it?
Matt: Keep her busy?
Amanda: I'll try, yeah.
Matt: I don't trust her around reporters.
Amanda: Yeah, I know. I don't either. It's a little too tempting.
Matt: Oh, yeah.
Amanda: You coming, Evan?
Evan: Yeah, I just -- actually, I need to talk to Matt about something.
Matt: See you later. What's up?
Evan: Well, actually it's Sam. Amanda needs to get in touch with him, and she doesn't know where he is.
Matt: What, he took off again?
Matt: I wish there was something I could do --
Evan: Well, maybe you can. Do you think that he might be with Olivia?
Matt: Oh, I don't know. Last time I talked to Olivia they sort of had a falling out. She's in New York.
Evan: New York?
Matt: Yeah, she's auditioning for something.
Matt: She'll be there for a couple of days.
Evan: New York, huh?
Evan: That's interesting.
Marley: I am going to get a dog, aren't we? You agreed.
Jake: Marley wants to get a couple of dogs and she wants to name them both Gus.
Marley: Well, that's because I couldn't think of a more --
Hilda: Hors d'oeuvres?
Marley: Oh, how lovely.
Jake: Yeah, thank you.
Marley: Thank you.
Ada: No thanks, Hilda.
Frankie: Hey, Ryan.
Frankie: Did I see you come in with Vicky?
Ryan: You did.
Frankie: So where is she?
Ryan: Oh, she's off doing her own thing as usual.
Frankie: Ah. And that doesn't bother you?
Ryan: No. Can I pour you a drink?
Frankie: Sure. White wine, please.
Ryan: Uh -- no. Champagne?
Frankie: Better still. Do you know what?
Frankie: I think I've started something.
Frankie: When I told you about Vick Hudson, when you were checking out her personal ad. You two are together a lot.
Ryan: I wouldn't read too much into that right now.
Frankie: She really is something, though.
Ryan: I understand Vicky.
Frankie: If you do, you're one of the few.
Vicky: I thought you cared about me.
Donna: Let me explain.
Vicky: There's nothing to explain. You want me out of the picture so you can hand Marley to Jamie on a silver platter.
Donna: That's not true.
Vicky: Don't lie to me, Mother. I heard the entire conversation.
Donna: Marley won't express her true feelings to Jamie. That's not good for anybody.
Vicky: For anybody? Or for you -- and Marley?
Donna: She's in pain.
Vicky: And what about me? You think my heart is made of stone. "Don't worry about Victoria, she'll get over it." How could you stab me in the back like this?
Donna: I don't know why you're so upset. If you were listening so carefully, you would have heard Jamie saying that he wasn't even interested in Marley.
Vicky: That doesn't matter. I can't believe you would do this to me. He's my husband.
Donna: He's not your husband anymore. You're divorced.
Vicky: All right. Well, Marley can't have my men, all right? She started out with Jake, now she's going to Jamie. And next thing you know she's going to having my son call her Mommy.
Donna: She would never try to take your place!
Vicky: Oh, please just don't -- don't stick up for her. It makes me want to throw up.
Donna: I'm not sticking up for her!
Vicky: Oh, I'm hallucinating? Did you ever once go to Jamie and tell him that he was making a mistake by dumping--? Did you? No, you didn't. The only time you have ever been on my side is when you said that I was a good mother, which is a hell of a lot more than I can say for you.
Donna: I have to help Marley right now because she's the one who's in trouble. She's about to throw her life away in a stupid dead-end marriage to Jake.
Vicky: Well, if you want her to end her marriage then why don't you walk in there and you tell her that you slept with Jake? Go ahead. I dare you. I just dare you to walk into that room and tell her the truth for once in your life.
Paulina: Did Ken call you?
Rachel: No. No, no one's heard from him. We've left messages at the dig site.
Paulina: So we still have no idea when -- when he'll be back?
Rachel: No, he hasn't contacted anyone.
Paulina: Well, I just -- that's weird, don't you think?
Rachel: No. When we were in Arizona he didn't call anyone.
Paulina: Well, he just has to get here. He has to.
Rachel: I'm sure when he does he'll have plenty of stories for us.
Paulina: You do think he's coming back, though, don't you? I mean --
Rachel: Why wouldn't he?
[Knock on door]
Amanda: Hi, I'm sorry to interrupt. You're not dressed.
Rachel: Ah, just last minute nerves. She's all right now.
Amanda: Oh, well, good -- uh, 'cause I really need you downstairs, Mom.
Rachel: All right, I'll be there in a minute.
Amanda: There's a reporter driving me crazy, and everybody's asking where Paulina is.
Rachel: Ok, yeah, we'll be down.
Amanda: All right. I left Felicia in charge of everything --
Amanda: And Iris is circling.
Rachel: Fine, fine. I'll be right there.
Hilda: Paulina, these just arrived for you.
Paulina: Oh, Hilda, they're beautiful.
Rachel: I expect they're from Matt.
Paulina: Oh, that's so sweet of him.
Hilda: Can I do something to help you?
Paulina: No, Hilda, I -- I'll be fine.
Rachel: I think she just needs a chance to be by herself for a minute. I'll come back and check on you.
Jake's voice: This could be the best night of your life or the worst. You decide. I'll be waiting downstairs.
Felicia: [Laughing] No -- no, I really can't. I can't talk about a novel that's not been published. It's just bad luck. But I'm sure that Mrs. Cory would give you a few minutes. In fact, there she is. Go ahead.
Woman: Great. Mrs. Cory.
Rachel: Oh, hi.
Woman: This sounds like a real Cinderella story.
Rachel: I guess it is.
Matt: Where is my date, by the way?
Amanda: She is almost ready.
Iris: Paulina hasn't got cold feet by any chance, has she?
Rachel: Excuse me. Hi!
Felicia: Hi, honey, how are you?
Rachel: Everyone, the guest of honor is going to be down in a minute, so just do, you know, what you were doing. [Exhales] Hi.
Frankie: Is everything ok?
Rachel: Uh, Paulina's got an incredible case of nerves. I went upstairs to check on her and she was leaving.
Frankie: As in packing and going away?
Cass: Well, that's odd.
Rachel: Yeah, I thought so.
Cass: No, I mean, earlier today she was asking me about her inheritance. She already had figured out ways to spend it.
Rachel: Like how?
Cass: Well, for starters, she was going to get a place to live. Did you know she wanted to buy an apartment?
Rachel: No -- no, I didn't. I guess she's not comfortable here.
Frankie: Oh, I find that hard to believe.
Rachel: Oh, no -- you know, she's been on her own all her life. Maybe she thought I'd be upset or something if she told me that.
Cass: Well, she definitely seemed anxious about something.
Frankie: Well, who could blame her? She knows everyone here is going to be looking her up, down, and sideways.
Woman: Mrs. Cory.
Rachel: Oh, yes.
Woman: Do you think that we could do that interview you promised me?
Rachel: Oh, absolutely. Now is a good time, don't you think? How about in the library?
Rachel: I'll see you --
Felicia: Yeah, talk to you in a second. Hey, what's going on?
Cass: Well, we're not really sure, but Rachel just had to stop Paulina from running out on her own party.
Felicia: I find that a little strange.
Cass: So do I.
Frankie: You know, I'm beginning to pick up some very strange vibes.
Cass: Maybe you're just hungry.
Frankie: No, I don't think so. I think that these are something a little bit more intense than hunger pangs.
Jamie: Marley, where's your better half?
Marley: I didn't come here to upset you. I'm sorry.
Jamie: Don't be.
Jamie: I'm not upset at all.
Stacey: Jamie, hi.
Jamie: Stacey, hi.
Stacey: Oh, I'm sorry I'm late.
Jamie: Don't worry, you haven't missed a thing.
Stacey: I got held up at the office. Yeah, but I managed to get dressed and get down.
Jake: Hey, honey, there you are. How would you like to go off for a walk? It's very beautiful out there. Marley?
Donna: Nobody is going to tell Marley about Jake and me.
Vicky: You still only look out for yourself.
Donna: I'm looking out for Marley. You know how much this would hurt her. Why do you continue to torture me about this?
Vicky: Don't you pin this on me. You're the one who slept with Jake, and you're not going to keep it a secret forever.
Donna: Don't make a scene. You have enough trouble with the Corys without spoiling another one of their --
Vicky: Oh, yes, of course. First things first, let's think about the Corys.
Donna: Victoria, just calm down. Think a minute. I know you want to hurt me, but you don't really want to hurt your sister.
Vicky: Oh, I've -- I've been hurt and I've survived. You want to break up Marley and Jake? I'll do it for you.
Donna: No, no, no, you can't.
Vicky: Oh, I think she'll be absolutely fascinated to find out why you really left Visions and why you gave up your son. But don't worry, she'll get over it.
Stacey: I guess everybody is out by the pool.
Vicky: I can't wait to tell Marley why you are so concerned about her marriage to Jake.
Donna: Once you tell her, you won't be able to take it back.
Vicky: I don't give a damn.
Donna: Yes, you do. You love Marley more than you --
Stacey: But I have a feeling there is going to be a big trouble tonight.
Ryan: How do you know?
Stacey: Trust me.
Vicky: Oh -- oh, there she is with him glued o her side.
Donna: Victoria, I'm begging you, don't do this.
Ryan: And there she is. I thought you ditched me.
Vicky: Get out of my way.
Ryan: You're about to self-destruct, Vicky. Get a grip.
Vicky: I don't care. Get off me.
Ryan: Excuse us, Vicky and I need to spend some time alone.
Vicky: Oh! Get me down!
Marley: What is going on here?
Stacey: Uh, I really don't know.
Marley: Mother -- what were you two arguing about?
Donna: I said something wrong, obviously, about the Corys, and Victoria went off on a war path.
Marley: Donna --
Donna: Where have you two been?
Jake: We were just out taking a look at the grounds. Why don't you join us?
Marley: No, I -- I would like to stay here and find out what happened.
Jake: Oh, come on, you know you want to see the shrubbery.
Donna: No, I would love that. I'd love that.
Jake: Let's go.
Donna: Let's go.
Jamie: Vicky sure looked fired up. I wonder what was bothering her.
Vicky: Move, you big ape. This is none of your business.
Ryan: You're my date. Of course it's my business. No, no, no, no. That won't work.
Vicky: Do you make it a habit of manhandling your dates?
Ryan: You should be thanking me instead of acting like a little brat. I just saved your --
Vicky: Shut up!
Ryan: That's what I've been trying to get you to do for the -- it's kind of hard to think straight when your lips are flapping off.
Vicky: I hate you.
Ryan: Ok. All right. I don't know what it is that you were planning on saying in there, but I'll lay odds that you would've lived to regret it.
Vicky: I regret my whole life. What's something else?
Ryan: You know what? I'm going to do you a favor.
Vicky: Another one?
Ryan: I'm going to get you out of this party.
Vicky: Wait, you are not Tarzan!
Olivia: Oh, you're still here?
Sam: No one threw me out. I saw the whole thing, and you were sensational.
Olivia: Thank you.
Sam: Did they say anything? Did -- what --
Sam: Well, tell me. What?
Olivia: I'm one of three finalists.
Sam: Oh, terrific. That a girl.
Olivia: I have to come back and dance again tomorrow.
Sam: Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go out and celebrate.
Olivia: Where do you want to go?
Sam: We'll go back to the hotel. I booked a room in the same place.
Olivia: You did?
Sam: Yeah, and I got a little surprise for you, too.
Sam: Come on.
Olivia: My stuff's over here.
Sam: Need help? You got it?
Olivia: I got it.
Sam: Ok, let's go.
Jamie: I'm here, Mom.
Rachel: Oh, there you are. I hear that Vicky just made another scene.
Jamie: Not quite. Ryan ran interference.
Rachel: What was it about this time?
Jamie: I'm not sure, but Marley and Jake seemed to be the target.
Rachel: At least it wasn't you.
Jamie: Yeah, right.
Rachel: I didn't realize Marley was going to be here tonight, especially not with Jake.
Jamie: Somehow I think that was Jake's idea. Don't look so concerned, Mom. I'm fine.
Rachel: I don't understand what's going on with the Hudsons. It's as though they have a crisis on every front.
Jamie: Well, not me. It's over with Marley. I've accepted that. Look, I better go find Stacey.
Rachel: All right.
Liz: Oh, Jamie, it's such a lovely party.
Liz: Oh, I'm glad I have you. I wanted to tell you how brave and noble I think you are to take in that orphan.
Rachel: Thank you.
Liz: Making her a part of your family in spite of -- well, you know.
Rachel: Yes, I do know.
Liz: Are you sure she's Mac's daughter?
Rachel: Yes, Liz.
Liz: Oh, it must have come as such a shock to -- I can't --- you've handled it so beautifully.
Rachel: Liz, Liz, we're just celebrating tonight. I don't really care to talk about it right now. Why don't you have a drink? I really have to find somebody.
Liz: Well, er, Rachel -- but all I wanted to say -- oh dear.
Liz: Oh, Evan. [Laughing]
Evan: Nobody understands you, do they?
Liz: No, it seems.
Evan: I got a theory. I think loyalty is a lost virtue.
Liz: Yes, it does seem so, doesn't it? You know, I was just trying to tell Rachel how much I admired her courage, and -- well, she practically turned her back on me.
Evan: Well, I wouldn't do that to you, not as pretty as you look tonight.
Liz: Well, I'm too mature to fall for your flattery, young man.
Evan: Well, I like mature women.
Evan: How would you like a brandy?
Liz: Just a little one to calm my nerves.
Evan: A little one? You know, I need a break from that crowd out there. So -- here's to you. Now, I heard that Olivia went to New York for some kind of audition or something?
Evan: Any news?
Liz: Not yet.
Evan: Between you and me, I was worried about her -- I mean, now that Sam's back. I thought she got away from him.
Liz: Exactly how I feel. Oh, I want her as far from Sam Fowler as is possible.
Evan: How long do you think she'll be there?
Liz: Well, not long if I have anything to say about it. Her father didn't come over, so she insisted on checking into a hotel herself. Oh, she's going to be so grown up, so brave. Well, I know she's lonely.
Evan: Yeah. You know what we should do?
Evan: I think we should all get together and send a telegram. Wouldn't that be nice?
Liz: Oh, what a marvelous idea. I'll get everybody together and we'll all --
Evan: Liz, no, what did I tell you? You don't worry about it. Let me handle it.
Evan: Ok? Just tell me where she's staying.
Liz: Well, The Plaza, of course.
Evan: Ooh, The Plaza. Well, I tell you what? Why don't you just go outside in the party and have a nice time? You think about me because you know I'm going to be thinking about you.
Liz: Oh, Evan, I love you.
Evan: And I'll be out there in just a second.
Liz: I will, dear. Yes.
Evan: Yeah, I need the number of The Plaza Hotel.
Ok, thank you.
Evan: Yes, hi, I need to find out -- is there a Sam Fowler registered there?
Vicky: Slow down. I am going to break my neck.
Ryan: Oh, quit your griping.
Vicky: I still don't know why you brought me to this ditch in the middle of nowhere.
Ryan: Oh, you'll find out.
Vicky: Is this what kidnappers do for fun? Are you trying to scare me, because it's not working.
Ryan: No, that's not what I'm trying to do.
Vicky: What are we doing? Looking for trolls?
Ryan: Well, for starters, I had to get you out of that party before you trashed what was left of your good name.
Vicky: Oh, I'm so glad you're still playing the hero.
Ryan: Do you mind if you tell me what was going on back there?
Vicky: Yes, I do mind. Why don't you just butt out?
Ryan: Because I'm curious, that's why. All the villains of your life were gathered in one room -- Jake, Jamie, your mother, your twin sister -- and I have a feeling that you were just about to drop a bomb on her.
Vicky: And what if I was?
Ryan: You would've found out too late that it was a big mistake.
Vicky: No, the only mistake I made was not screaming it out on the top on my lungs while you carried me into the next room.
Ryan: Oh, come on, Vicky, you're glad that I took you out of there. And those people are also your family.
Vicky: I don't care if they're my family. And I'm not glad you dragged me out of there. I'm furious with you. I hate you. I hate all of them.
Marley: Have -- have you seen Vicky since before?
Jamie: No, I think that she and Ryan left.
Marley: Do you know what she and my mother were arguing about?
Jamie: No, I came in on the tail end of it.
Marley: I don't think I should've come to this party. I really wouldn't have, had it not been for Jake. I'm sorry. I really say the wrong things all the time, don't I?
Jamie: Do you?
Marley: [Sighing] Jamie, I wish we could be friends.
Marley: Because we -- we come to the same functions, and we have the same friends, and it just -- it's kind of awkward.
Jamie: Oh, I'm sure we'll get used to it. Or we'll just learn to deal with it. Look, excuse me. I asked Stacey to meet me. It's getting late. Any sign of the guest of honor?
Stacey: No, not yet.
Cass: And the natives are getting restless.
Frankie: Well, Iris certainly is.
Felicia: Yeah, I noticed she's been pacing around like a caged tiger.
Frankie: Did she show you her claws?
Felicia: She tried. I will give her that. Looks like she's working over the Society editor.
Cass: Oh, great. Rachel's going to love that.
Frankie: Maybe you should break that up.
Cass: Yeah, maybe I should give it a shot, huh?
Felicia: Watch your eyes.
Woman: When is this girl going to appear?
Iris: Well, I did tell you this evening was going to be a disaster.
Cass: Hello, ladies, enjoying yourselves? I'm Cass Winthrop, the Corys' attorney. Maybe you have some questions for me?
Rachel: Oh, we just can't hold this up any longer.
Matt: Do you want me to get Paulina?
Rachel: Yeah, would you please?
Rachel: I'll collect everybody and get them together.
Paulina: How did you get in here?
Jake: Well, I knew the way, remember? What's the matter?
Jake: You wouldn't be stalling on me by any chance, would you, Paulina?
Paulina: Just taking my time.
Jake: Hmm. You didn't have to hide it from me. I've seen it all before. That is very classy, just like a fairytale princess.
Paulina: Give that to me.
Jake: Tell me, is your story going to have a happy ending?
Paulina: I don't know.
Jake: I think you do. Where's my check, Paulina? Don't tell me you don't have it.
Paulina: I don't. But I'll get it.
Jake: When? Haven't seen your buddy Ken around. Is he planning on making an appearance here tonight?
Paulina: I don't know that either.
Jake: Skipped town on you, didn't he? Just like I told you he did.
Paulina: Cass said I'll be able to draw from my own money in a few days, three at the most.
Jake: I don't have a couple of days. If I don't have the money on Monday, I lose Visions.
Paulina: I'm sure you'll be able to make your creditors understand.
Jake: We are not talking First Federal of Bay City. I could wind up on the bottom of a river.
Paulina: Well, that will be just fine with me.
Jake: Let me tell you something, Paulina. If you know what's good for you, you'll get your inheritance and you will cut me a check fast.
Paulina: And what if I can't, Jake?
Jake: You can't? Make up something. You have Rachel eating out of your hand. She'll give you the family jewels if you ask.
Paulina: If I push Rachel any harder, she'll be even more suspicious. Then I'll lose everything. Then where would you be?
Jake: I think I'll be on Iris's doorstep telling her everything I know.
Paulina: No, you wouldn't do that.
Jake: Yes, I would. I've got nothing to lose. No matter how I play this, I'm just trying to give you another chance.
Paulina: I don't know what you think I can do.
Jake: You'll figure out something. I have all the faith in the world in you. You talked the entire Corys into believing that you're Mac Cory's daughter.
Jake: Your fans are waiting.
[Knock on door]
Matt: It's Matt. You ready?
Matt: I came to take you downstairs.
Paulina: I'll be right there, Matt.
Paulina: You're really enjoying this, aren't you?
Jake: Rachel will make her little announcement, and then I'll make mine. Unless you can come up with a better plan by then.
[Knock on door]
Matt: Everyone's waiting.
Jake: You know what they say, Paulina -- "Where there's a will, there's a way. " She looks like a dream come true, doesn't she?
Jake: I was just offering her my congratulations. Paulina, I'll be waiting at the bottom of the stairs.
Olivia: A perfect ending to a perfect day.
Sam: Was it perfect?
Olivia: Don't you know?
Sam: That was unbelievable.
Olivia: It means so much to me that you came here, Sam.
Sam: Well, I got to thinking, and you --
Olivia: Thank you.
Sam: Have been the only one that has believed in me from the very beginning, and that means a lot. To friendship, and to my best friend.
Olivia: Thank you, Sam.
Sam: Olivia, you are on your way. This is to your success, to your beauty, and your talent.
Olivia: I can't let you say these things, Sam.
Sam: Why not?
Olivia: Because I don't deserve them.
Sam: Why not?
Olivia: You don't know me.
Sam: Of course, I know you. You --
Olivia: You used to. But I've changed. You have been nothing but good to me, and I've been -- I've been lying to you.
Amanda: Better make this quick, Evan. Paulina is about to come down the stairs.
Evan: Look, I don't want -- I didn't want you to hear this from anybody else.
Evan: Well, Sam is in New York with Olivia.
Evan: Well, I always thought there was something going on. You know, she was waiting for him outside the loft the other day when I went to pick you up.
Amanda: Why didn't you tell me?
Evan: Because it -- you know, it was just suspicion at first. I didn't think anything about it. Now -- I told you that. And now we know it's real.
Amanda: You're sure that he's in New York?
Evan: Yeah, I found out by accident. Liz asked me to send a telegram, so I called the hotel and I asked if Sam was registered there.
Amanda: And he was?
Evan: Yeah. Listen, I am sorry to be the one to tell you this, but I always knew that Olivia was more than just his model. And I think something has been going on for a long time.
Ada: Come on, you two, Rachel wants everybody together when she introduces Paulina. Come on.
Cass: Those cute little antennae of yours, they still picking up the strange frequency?
Frankie: Stronger than ever. It is so tense in here.
Cass: You don't have to be a psychic to feel it either.
Frankie: It's giving me the shakes.
Felicia: I know. I feel strange because it makes me want to have a party for my own daughter.
Cass: Oh, honey, maybe that can still happen some day.
Frankie: Yeah, it happened for Paulina. That should give you hope.
Felicia: Well, actually, that's the problem. It does give me hope. And I had reached that point where I had stopped hoping.
Frankie: Oh, honey.
Felicia: But Mac, he really would love this, wouldn't he?
Cass: Yes, he would. This was a big decision for Rachel, accepting Paulina as his daughter.
Frankie: You think she's making a mistake, don't you?
Cass: I hope she isn't.
Rachel: I'm glad you're here. We can begin. Paulina.
Jake: I wish she would hurry up.
Marley: We can leave as soon as we say hello, right?
Rachel: Everyone, this is the moment we've been waiting for.
Iris: Or dreading.
Amanda: Iris, please.
Jake: Here we go.
Rachel: I would like to introduce you to -- our daughter. We're so happy to have found her. We've welcomed her into our family and our lives, and we're hoping that you will do the same. Paulina Cory.
Ryan: Who else do you hate?
Vicky: Do you think this is some kind of a joke? Do you think I'm an emotional basket case because I want to be? You don't know the whole story, Ryan. My sister has wanted her grimy hands on everything and everybody that I have wanted my entire life. She started out with Jake, then she went to Steven, and now she's going to Jamie, and my mother has been behind her cheering her on the entire way.
Ryan: I hear -- I hear a train.
Vicky: Who cares about a stupid train?
Ryan: I care about a stupid train.
Vicky: All right, Ryan. Ryan, move! I want out!
Ryan: Not until you get rid of this poison, once and for all.
Vicky: You want me to forgive them? Is that what you want?
Ryan: You've got to let it out or else it's going to destroy your life. Let it go.
Vicky: I'll let it go when hell freezes over. I'm going to pay those people back! Oh, God, I'm going to pay them back so good.
Ryan: What do you think, that just by trashing their lives that yours is going to be oh, so much happier?
Vicky: Who cares if I'm happy? Nobody else worries about me.
Vicky: Why? Because they're so concerned about Marley. It's always been Marley. They've been fretting about Marley -- it's Marley's life. She's the one who had the good life. I'm the one that got thrown out.
Ryan: Yeah, I know it hurts.
Vicky: On the outside, Ryan? Why, no matter how hard I try, can't I catch up?
Ryan: Come on, let it out.
Vicky: Why am I pretending all the time? I want them to know how I feel, God!
Ryan: Maybe that's why they think you're so tough because you keep on acting like you're made of ice.
Vicky: It takes guts to keep things inside.
Ryan: Oh, yeah, well it takes an awful lot more guts to let it out.
Vicky: I have tried to work out my marriage.
Ryan: Another failure?
Vicky: I'm a life of a failure.
Ryan: Come on, Vicky, now, while the train's overhead, you got to let it out -- loud!
Ryan: Let it out!
Ryan: Get up there and let it out!
Vicky: God, I am not made of ice! I am not made of ice! I have feelings!
Vicky and Ryan: [Screaming]
