Amanda: what do you think you are doing?

Evan: Well, I just want to see if you've cooled off since last night.

[Loud splash]

Evan: I guess.. but we've had an increase in I....

Rachel: Fine, you have convinced me, Iris. We will continue with the campaign.

Iris: Well, it needs to be revamped, but I don't want to hard sell.

Rachel: All I want is final copy approval.

Iris: That's it?

Rachel: That's it. You pick the agency. You pick the approach.

Iris: I must say. Things are going more smoothly than I anticipated.

Rachel: Well, I hope they continue to.

Iris: Well, I am making a great effort, Rachel.

Rachel: Yes, I know you are. I expect I know the reason why.

Iris: Yes, I want us to get along.

Rachel: It has nothing to do with Paulina?

Iris: That's not the only reason.

Rachel: Relax, Iris. It will all be over soon.

Iris: What do you mean over? You haven't decided what to do already, have you?

Rachel: It's been hard to think of anything else.

Iris: Rachel, you can't let her pressure you.

Rachel: She is not. But she will have my answer by the end of the week.

Iris: Has something happened? Have you found something to discredit her?

Rachel: No, I didn't say that.

Iris: Rachel, you are not going to accept her, are you?

Paulina: Mm.

Jake: What do you think?

Paulina: I knew this job had perks, but I never expected this.

Jake: [Laughing] Well, get used to it, because I have never done my best work in an office.

Paulina: Yeah, I'll bet.

Jake: Hey, hey, hey -- doesn't the boss get any respect?

Paulina: I have more respect for you all the time, Jake McKinnon.

Jake: I just think better when I am relaxed.

Paulina: And after you've relaxed, then what?

Jake: Well, then I -- I like to toss around a couple of proposals and get inspired.

Paulina: Hmm, is that the same as getting ideas?

Jake: I have a responsibility to live up to my reputation.

Paulina: Is that what you were doing last night with Marley, getting inspired?

Jake: Hmm, that was just, uh --

Paulina: What you said last night, a friendly dinner.

Jake: Well, I think Marley would like to think that it was more, but you're right. It was just -- a friendly dinner.

Paulina: It sure felt like I was interrupting something.

Jake: You sure weren't.

Paulina: Then why the champagne?

Jake: Because I like it. I am just glad you were there to share it with me.

Paulina: Did I crash your party, Jake?

Jake: Do you hear me complaining?

Paulina: No.

Jake: The party was over before you got there.

Paulina: Are you sure?

Jake: Let's just say I am more interested in my future than I am in reliving my past.

Paulina: I'll drink to that.

Jake: Yeah? Good.

Sharlene: Heath Hudson, Hector Hudson, Henry Hudson, Henry -- Henry Hudson. [Giggles]

[Door slams]

John: Hi.

Sharlene: Hi. You're home so early.

John: Yeah, well, it was kind of slow, sent a few patients home. They looked very happy. I figured I was onto something.

Sharlene: Look at those.

John: Oh, my gosh.

Sharlene: See them all? I can't believe that. That's just from yesterday. I think you're going to have to take some in with you tomorrow.

John: Have you been in the garden all morning?

Sharlene: Just to pick those.

John: You feel all right?

Sharlene: I feel good.

John: No queasiness, dizziness, anything?

Sharlene: Nope, no. This time I feel like I must be lucky because with Josie I was -- well, I had morning sickness right from the beginning.

John: You're not tired? You tossed around a lot last night.

Sharlene: I feel good, John.

John: Good. Oh, uh -- these are for you.

Sharlene: Prenatal vitamins. This couldn't wait until I saw my obstetrician?

John: Well, I didn't figure it would hurt to start.

Sharlene: Well, I already have a doctor, doctor.

John: I am a little concerned about all the strain on you and the baby.

Sharlene: It's more than that. You're still wondering if this child is yours.

John: You told me it is. I -- I believe you.

Sharlene: I wish you could just be as sure as I am. We're going to have the paternity test as soon as I can.

Sharlene: You are going to be a father. You still haven't told me how you feel about that.

John: Well, I hope I do a better job than my old man did.

Sharlene: You'll be wonderful, you know that. I can't wait to see you holding this baby in your arms for the first time.

John: Everything is going to be all right, Sharlene.

Sharlene: I know that.

John: I have to thank you. You always make me see what's really important.

Sharlene: You've given me so much, and now this. I love you with all my heart.

John: Well, that's good. Because that's how much I love you.

Paulina: Hello, Mrs. Hudson. What's with Vicky's parents?

Jake: What do you mean?

Paulina: Are they always this unfriendly?

Jake: Just to me.

Paulina: Because your marriage with Marley didn't work out.

Jake: Well, that and the fact that Donna and I didn't exactly part the best of friends when she left Visions.

Paulina: I met them when I was working at Vicky's. Mr. Hudson is a doll. But Mrs. Hudson seems like she could be, um, difficult.

Jake: That's one way of putting it.

Paulina: How about a real snob?

Jake: You could say that, I guess.

Paulina: Is this awkward for you? I mean, we could leave.

Jake: No. No, you kidding me? We haven't even had dessert yet.

Paulina: Well, we could do that someplace else.

Jake: Bay City isn't all that big. You get used to running into people you would rather avoid.

Paulina: Are you enjoying this?

Jake: Let's just say the people that I ignore are usually more uncomfortable than I am.

Michael: Actually, I'm kind of surprised that Jake hired Paulina.

Donna: Why? She's a pretty woman.

Michael: What's that got to do with it? I would have thought he'd hire someone, you know, with a track record who's got some experience. But they do seem to be getting along all right.

Donna: Oh, is Jake here? I didn't notice.

Michael: Donna, come on. You walked right by him when you came in.

Donna: Let's not talk about him please. Where is our waiter?

Michael: I'll tell you what, I'll get the waiter. I got to phone John anyway.

Donna: All right, say hello to him.

Michael: I will.

Jake: Celebrating something?

Donna: I should be. For once you're not with one of the women in my family.

Jake: Oh, lighten up, Donna.

Donna. I see over here you and Paulina look very cozy.

Jake: And you approve?

Donna: I approve of anybody that keeps you away from Marley.

Evan: Well, you know what they say about swimming. It's an excellent way to relieve your frustration. You feel better?

Amanda: I'd feel a lot better if you left..

Evan: Oh, actually, I was just calling your bluff. You are the one that said I should see other women.

Amanda: That didn't mean you should start cruising the dining room chatting up every female in sight.

Evan: Well, I had to get through to you.

Amanda: What is that supposed to mean?

Evan: I am talking about that you don't realize your own feelings until they are staring you in the face.

Amanda: Give me a break.

Evan: And you are jealous. You couldn't stand seeing me talk to other women. You know it.

Amanda: I couldn't stand being made a fool of.

Evan: Well, you're right there. After the way Sam has treated you, it's going to be a while before you can trust again.

Amanda: This isn't about Sam.

Evan: Don't you think I know why you are being so defensive?

Amanda: Just don't talk about him.

Evan: I don't want to talk about Sam. I am talking about me. This is me. I don't have any hidden motives.

Amanda: You make everything seem so simple.

Evan: It is. I just want to be with you.

Amanda: That's why you acted like you did last night?

Evan: Well, I'm not in the habit of proving myself. I mean, you know how I feel.

Amanda: And you think I am playing games?

Evan: Well, no, not deliberately. But when you are, I will call you on it.

Amanda: Oh, thank you.

Evan: You're welcome. Now, why don't we forget about all this and we'll go down to the lake. We'll have a nice picnic. What do you say?

Amanda: No.

Evan: Why not?

Amanda: I'm not so sure I want to go anywhere with you.

Evan: Amanda, would you just let it go. Come on, there is nobody in the whole world I would rather be with -- than you. Ok? Truce? Fight's over?

Amanda: Yeah, I guess so.

Evan: Ok, so --

Amanda: [Laughing] Give me my finger back.

Evan: So, why don't you go get Alli, and I'll take her down to the lake, and I'll teach her to water ski.

Olivia: Well, Amanda and Evan, what a surprise.

Amanda: Olivia.

Olivia: I haven't seen you two together in a long time. Planning something?

Evan: Actually we were just planning a walk down by the lake, maybe a picnic or something.

Matt: I thought you were at the office. I invited Olivia for a swim.

Amanda: It's all right. The pool's all yours.

Matt: You don't have to rush off, really.

Amanda: Yes, I do.

Evan: Yeah, we were just on our way out.

Amanda: Yeah, that's right.

Matt: Olivia, will you just chill out a little bit?

Olivia: Well, Evan, you are really something coming over here and playing Daddy to Sam's little girl.

Evan: Well, somebody has to care about her considering Sam doesn't.

Olivia: So are you still using the same angle on Amanda, giving her lots of sympathy, telling her how much Sam abused her? You both know who did the planning, and it certainly wasn't Sam.

Matt: Well, that was quick.

Amanda: Yeah, I just found some shorts. Are you ready to go?

Evan: Yeah.

Matt: Come on, Olivia.

Olivia: Sure. See you later, Amanda.

Evan: So where's Alli?

Amanda: With Hilda.

Evan: Well, I thought you were going to bring her.

Amanda: No, I thought we could take this walk alone.

Iris: Paulina hasn't given you any proof that she is Daddy's daughter.

Rachel: I don't think we will ever have definite proof, Iris. But while we're all waiting around to decide whether this child is worthy enough to be part of our family, everybody's lives are on hold. There has to be a resolution to this. The proof that we have adds up.

Iris: Rachel, nothing adds up. Ken Jordan is the only person who can verify that Daddy even knew this Maria person.

Rachel: There is the photograph, Iris. The dates match.

Iris: Yes, if Paulina was telling the truth, which I very much doubt.

Rachel: Your father would give her the benefit of the doubt. You know that. He would be appalled to think that a child of his was left to fend for herself.

Iris: Look, please. Just give me time to try and sort this thing out. I mean, what if we give her a portion of Daddy's inheritance and we find out that she is a fraud.

Rachel: It's only money, Iris. And I don't think that's going to happen.

Iris: Rachel, there are still some leads that we haven't followed. There's the -- the foster child agencies. There's the immigration records that Mrs. Cantrell was telling us about.

Rachel: All right, Iris. Take some time. Find out what you can, but I think it's about time you came to terms with this.

[Knock on door]

Rachel: Come in.

Ken: I sweet-talked your secretary. Can we talk for a few minutes?

Rachel: No, I am afraid I am in the middle of a --

Iris: Well Mr. Jordan, I thought you were still at the bottom of Lake Michigan digging -- oops, sorry -- diving for gold.

Ken: Sorry to disappoint you, Iris. There's still a few snags. Is this a bad time?

Rachel: Yes, I am afraid --

Iris: Well, it is for me because I have to go. Uh, Rachel, catch up with you later.

Rachel: Well, what can I do for you?

Ken: I am not very comfortable with the way we left things.

Rachel: Why not? Isn't that what you wanted?

Ken: No, it wasn't. That's why we need to talk.

Rachel: I asked for your help, you turned me down. What more is there to say?

Jake: Marley and I are still getting back together. This thing with Paulina is a business lunch.

Donna: A business luncheon with me used to mean Chinese take-out food on the studio floor.

Jake: I know this is hard on you, but don't read too much into this.

Donna: What am I supposed to read into it? You're in here tossing money around and Marley tells me that Visions is in desperate need of finances.

Jake: What do you care? The company is not yours anymore anyway.

Donna: I don't care about the company. I care about Marley. It's going to be hard for her to understand all this wining and dining during business hours.

Jake: You know, I don't get this. First you're grateful I am seeing someone else, then you are steamed because I am two-timing your daughter?

Donna: I just hate the way you operate.

Jake: You didn't use to.

Donna: Don't be tiresome, Jake.

Jake: Oh, come on. First it's Paulina, then it's Marley -- Paulina, Marley, Paulina.

Donna: What -- what it is is that you are playing with fire again and somebody is going to get burnt. [Whispering] And this time I hope it's you.

Jake: You know something, we are too in love to think that nothing, nothing gets to me.

Donna: I can't stand being in the same room with him. Let's go, please.

Michael: Wait a minute. Jake is persona non grata because he wants to see our daughter. Donna, I think that's up to them, don't you?

Donna: Michael, please, I am just not hungry. I don't want to eat here. Let's go someplace else. How is John?

Michael: John? I couldn't get in touch with John.

Iris: Finally. Just who were you spending money on this time?

Jake: Well, Iris, it just happens to be Paulina.

Iris: That's wonderful. Shall I hang up?

Jake: Relax, she's in the little girls' room.

Iris: Jake, I have been calling you all over town.

Jake: You know, Iris, I have been meaning to mention that to you. You got to stop because I got to tell you it's really getting embarrassing.

Iris: If you'd check your machine it wouldn't be necessary.

Jake: You know, it just dawned on me, she may be back at any minute. What do you want?

Iris: Jake, this is urgent. I've told you I need you to find out what the real connection is between that little gold digger and Ken Jordan.

Jake: That's what I am doing.

Iris: I should think so. Have you planted the bug yet?

Jake: Iris, for crying out loud. I am in the middle of --

Iris: Go do it, Jake! I am running out of time.

Jake: All right, all right. Keep your shirt on. I got to go, all right.

Paulina: Still in the mood for dessert?

Jake: I am in the mood for anything you are in the mood for.

Paulina: Hmm.

Jake: Hmm.

Paulina: Well, I think I'll have to skip it or my next perk is going to have to be a membership at the spa.

Jake: Then let's go.

Paulina: I'll make coffee at the studio.

Jake: Ok. You know what? I just thought of something. I can't do that.

Paulina: Why not?

Jake: Because I rented the loft out to an out-of-town production company.

Paulina: When did you do that?

Jake: This morning, it was a last minute thing.

Paulina: Where are we supposed to work?

Jake: You think Rachel would mind if we worked at the house?

Paulina: Oh, I don't know.

Jake: I mean, this is official business.

Sharlene: I don't know how I couldn't have known.

John: Clothes, please.

Sharlene: I guess with everything that's been going on I -- I -- I just wasn't paying much attention to my body.

John: Mm-hmm.

Sharlene: You know what? I'm -- I'm a little worried.

John: About what?

Sharlene: About what you said.

John: What exactly?

Sharlene: I was sedated, and Sharly smoked and she drank. John, if I did anything to hurt this child I would never forgive myself.

John: Come on, don't worry about it. Talk to your obstetrician. She'll know what to do.

[Sound of car approaching]

Sharlene: Who is that?

John: Oh, it looks like Mike. It is.

Sharlene: Hi.

Donna: Hi.

Michael: Hey, how are you doing? I figured you were playing hooky. I thought maybe I'd come over and play too, you know.

Donna: Hello.

John: Hey, how are you doing?

Donna: It's been a long time

Sharlene: Good to see you both.

Donna: How are you feeling?

Sharlene: I am feeling pretty good actually.

Donna: Are you sure? You look a little pale.

Sharlene: Do I?

John: That's pretty normal for a pregnant woman, I think.

Donna and Michael: What?

John: Sharlene is pregnant.

Donna: Are -- are you sure?

Sharlene: Yes, we're sure.

Michael: Whoa.

Sharlene: There is actually a new Hudson in the works.

Michael: Congratulations.

Donna: Oh, that is just the best news.

Sharlene: Thank you so much.

Donna: Oh, John. Oh.

Michael: Well, look, have you told Mom?

John: No, we just found out ourselves.

Donna: She's going to be thrilled.

Michael: So you're going to be a Dad.

Sharlene: So why don't we celebrate with some iced tea?

John: You want some help?

Sharlene: No, no. It's all made up. I'll just be a minute.

Donna: I'll just go help Sharlene.

Michael: When is the baby due?

John: It's ok, Mike. Why don't you just say what you are thinking.

Michael: Well, why don't you tell me what I am thinking.

John: You're wondering if I know if this child is really mine.

Sharlene: You know, John and I always talked about adding to the family, but this was quite a surprise. You know I'm three months along?

Donna: You are?

Sharlene: Yes. But we're -- we're very, very excited.

Donna: Sharlene, I think I should tell you that Michael let me know why you were in the hospital.

Sharlene: Well, of course, that's -- I mean, that's fine.

Donna: He also told me about Grant Harrison.

Sharlene: Confirms everything you've ever thought of me.

Donna: On the contrary, I know what a difficult time you and John must be having.

Sharlene: Come on, Donna. You never thought I was good enough for John. You never wanted me to marry him in the first place.

Donna: That's before I knew you.

Sharlene: And now that you do, you think you were right. Don't you?

Ken: I am here because I owe you an apology.

Rachel: You don't owe me anything. So you can leave with a clear conscience.

Ken: I am sorry that I backed away when you asked for my help.

Rachel: My fault for asking.

Ken: No, it wasn't. You've been carrying this whole thing on your shoulders. I didn't do one thing to help. I behaved like an insensitive clod.

Rachel: Well, clod, I think you were right. I don't think it's any longer any of your business.

Ken: I said I didn't want to interfere, but I am already involved.

Rachel: Because of Maria?

Ken: No, Rachel, because I care about you. Maybe not in the way you want.

Rachel: But I thought I was too much trouble.

Ken: You and I want different things. Sometimes it gets in the way.

Rachel: Something's never been right between us. Maybe it's just that I am not ready for any kind of relationship right now.

Ken: Why is that?

Rachel: Time maybe. I don't have a great deal of time.

Ken: You make it sound like remodeling the kitchen.

Rachel: Well, I have a -- many demands on my attention.

Ken: It always comes back to your family, doesn't it?

Rachel: Yes, of course it does.

Rachel: Well, I think -- I think I am getting closer to making a decision about Paulina.

Ken: Good. Paulina was very surprised that you believed in her.

Rachel: She stood up for herself. She didn't have to do that. She took a risk at showing that side of her self, but it wasn't calculated. She believes she is Maria's daughter.

Ken: It sounds like, one way or another, you've made up your mind about her. Haven't you?

Jake: This isn't working.

Paulina: I thought you were sold on this concept.

Jake: It's not the concept, it's my concentration.

Paulina: Well, maybe we shouldn't have worked here.

Jake: That's not it.

Paulina: Do you want to talk about it?

Jake: Nothing is wrong. Let's see. Where were we?

Paulina: We were staring into space. What's wrong, Jake?

Jake: I don't want to burden you with my problem.

Paulina: It's ok, really.

Jake: It's Marley.

Paulina: I thought you guys got along great.

Jake: Up to a point.

Paulina: And that's the problem?

Jake: She thinks our divorce was a mistake.

Jake: And you don't.

Paulina: She came back because she wanted to talk about it.

Paulina: So that's what you've been doing?

Jake: And it's just not easy because she is not exactly the strongest person in the world, you know?

Paulina: You really don't think there's a chance for you two?

Jake: I don't think so.

Paulina: Why? Are you involved with someone else?

Jake: No. But I would like to be.

Matt: I wish you and Amanda could be civil to one another.

Olivia: I am tired of fighting with her.

Matt: Then why do you always start everything?

Olivia: I don't.

Matt: You do. You think Sam can do no wrong.

Olivia: Well, somebody has to stick up for him.

Matt: Why you?

Olivia: Because I am his friend.

Matt: Let him get a lawyer.

Olivia: Oh.

Matt: You know he terrorized Amanda.

Olivia: I don't believe that.

Matt: Then how did Evan get to the bottom of the elevator shaft?

Olivia: All right, all right, Matthew -- fine.

Matt: Besides, it's none of our business, right?

Olivia: Fine. I will try and stay out of it since there's nothing I can say that will change your mind anyway.

Matt: Nothing will, so let's talk about something else.

Olivia: All right. What would you like to talk about?

Matt: Well, your part. If you get it do you join the company?

Olivia: I suppose so.

Matt: Yeah, and move to New York?

Olivia: Yeah, I guess so.

Matt: For good, huh?

Olivia: I don't know. I -- it could be permanent.

Matt: Then you'd really leave Bay City?

Olivia: Why not? Father is in France. Josie has her career. You're going back to school in a couple of weeks. There's nothing holding me here.

Matt: Well, I thought all that had changed.

Olivia: No, that hasn't changed. I might have changed. Do you remember when you first met me and you told me I had no heart?

Matt: Wait, wait. I didn't say that.

Olivia: Well, you said I didn't have any passion.

Matt: Mm.

Olivia: You were wrong. But unless something changes, the only place I can find to express it is in my dancing.

Evan: You know, you haven't said a word since we got here. Are you still upset with Olivia?

Amanda: Well, she tries to bait me all the time. I should be used to it.

Evan: It must be Sam.

Amanda: I can't stop thinking about him, about this whole mess.

Evan: Well, that's because I guess you are still trying to figure out what happened.

Amanda: He changed. That's all I can say. Maybe we both did.

Evan: Well, Sam wasn't as together as he wanted everybody to think.

Amanda: You really think so?

Evan: Well, that's the only logical explanation I can come up for all the sick and demented things that he did.

Amanda: If that's true, don't -- don't you think maybe I should be helping him?

Evan: How?

Amanda: I don't know. He's still my husband. And he's Alli's father. Maybe he should be in therapy or something.

Evan: Amanda, there is no way you are going to get him to do that unless he wants to.

Amanda: I know that. Maybe if he thinks that I am really this concerned that he --

Evan: Oh, do you really think it's a good idea for you and Alli to be involved with him again? Think about it.

Amanda: I guess not.

Evan: I mean, Sam is not a very, you know, stable person. What kind of man would run off and not tell his family where he is or what he is up to? I mean, doesn't that scare you?

Amanda: You think he could be plotting something?

Evan: Well, it's not too reassuring to know that he's out there angry with both of us. He can pop up here anytime he wants.

Amanda: I get the feeling I am going to open up my door and find him standing there.

Evan: Yeah, with flowers or a gun.

Amanda: Evan, don't say things like that.

Evan: Well, we can't afford to be too sentimental at a time like this.

Amanda: There's going to be one day when I am going to have to talk to Sam about this.

Evan: Oh, yeah?

Amanda: For Alli's sake.

Evan: And what's going to happen? It's all going to go away?

Amanda: Maybe he'll be able to make me understand a little more why he did all these crazy things.

Evan: Yeah, and you're going to waste a lot of years waiting for that to happen.

Amanda: Maybe. I need to settle this.

Evan: Well, maybe you should try to settle it on your own, without Sam.

Amanda: I've been trying to do that. It's not --

Evan: Well, you can't do it by shutting everybody else out of your life.

Amanda: Have I been doing that?

Evan: Yes, you've lost your passion for work. You put this huge wall up between us.

Amanda: I didn't mean to do that. I didn't do it on purpose.

Evan: I know you didn't. When I was in New York, did you miss me?

Amanda: Evan, you were only gone for a couple of days.

Evan: Just be honest with me. Did you think about me?

Amanda: Every day.

Paulina: We shouldn't be doing this here.

Jake: Let's find someplace else to do this.

Paulina: Like what do you have in mind?

Jake: Why don't we go to your room? Hmm?

Paulina: That could be a big mistake.

Jake: Why not?

Paulina: Well, suppose someone saw us going --

Jake: No one's going to see us. You go up there first, I'll follow right behind you.

Paulina: It's too risky.

Jake: Oh, come on. What is life without a risk?

Paulina: Someone's coming.

Ada: I thought I heard somebody down here. What do you say, Jake? Hi, Paulina.

Jake: Hey, don't tell me you let them fend for themselves down at paradise.

Ada: Well, Sharky's holding down the fort.

Paulina: We were just doing some work. I -- I hope we are not in your way here.

Ada: Oh, you're not in my way.

Jake: Yeah, I rented the loft out this morning, kind of been stuck.

Ada: Oh, no problem. Looking good, Jake.

Jake: Yeah, well, Visions is keeping me very busy.

Ada: Aha. I read the reservation book the other night. You and Marley?

Jake: Yes, it was.

Ada: Your waitress told me that you were very nervous and you wanted everything to be perfect.

Jake: Everything was -- everything was fine.

Ada: That's it? That's all you're going to tell me?

Jake: What is it -- what else do you want to know?

Ada: Well, I want to know if the rumor is true that you two are getting back together.

John: Sharlene wants to have a paternity test.

Michael: Don't you usually wait and do that after the baby is born?

John: We're both pretty anxious to know.

Michael: John, I am so sorry. This should be a happy time.

John: It is. I -- it is.

Michael: You know, I don't know what I would do in your situation.

John: I believe that this baby is mine. I just don't want Grant to cause any trouble.

Michael: He knows?

John: Sharlene told him. She wanted him to tell her if there was a chance that the baby could be his.

Michael: And?

John: He told her there wasn't.

Michael: Do you believe him?

John: When Sharlene told me she was pregnant I made up my mind that we are going to have this baby and be happy about it. Nobody is going to take that away from me.

Donna: Sharlene, please calm down. I am not trying to judge you here. I am just trying to imagine what you and John are going through.

Sharlene: Why, Donna? Sympathy has never been your style.

Donna: I know that.

Sharlene: I am sorry. I have just been a little jumpy lately.

Donna: I know I've never made a tremendous effort to try to be your friend, but I am not criticizing you here.

Sharlene: Why the sudden change of heart, Donna?

Donna: Well, for one thing, I don't know all the details.

Sharlene: That has never stopped you before.

Donna: Well, maybe I've changed. Maybe I have learned that details aren't important, that how much you love somebody is what's important. I had to learn that because I had to give up Mikey.

Sharlene: Donna, I am sorry. I've been so wrapped up in myself I wasn't thinking about what happened with Mikey.

Donna: I've realized that people can love one another, and things can still happen to separate them and cause very deep, very lasting pain, things over which you have no control. And the best thing to do is to look at things as they are, move on with your life. And if I can do that, I know you can.

Sharlene: Hearing about this baby must have been very -- and still be very difficult for you.

Donna: I'll always have an ache in my heart for Mikey. But I am truly happy for you and John, really.

Sharlene: Thank you.

Donna: We both have grown daughters. We both know how children can add a lot of love to your life. And that's what you have to concentrate on the most, not what's gone wrong in the past.

Sharlene: I am trying. So is John.

Donna: Do you think he can get through this?

Sharlene: I hope so. I really do.

Donna: Well, I'll do everything I can to help. I want this to work out for all of us.

Jake: Well, let me just say that I am very optimistic that everything will work out the very best for both of us.

Ada: Oh, I love Marley. She is such a sweet kid. She had your number from the beginning. I told you if you just gave it time, she'd come around.

Jake: And you know something, you were right as always.

Ada: Oh, oh, oh.

Jake: As a matter of fact, if you are going to be around for a couple of minutes, I would like you to take a look at this presentation for Brava.

Ada: Oh, no, you don't. I'm out of here. I got shopping to do. Look at this. You know, that's enough decision-making for one day.

Jake: You sure you don't want to help out with this?

Ada: Jake -- bye, bye, bye.

Jake: Bye-bye.

Ada: Bye, Paulina.

Paulina: Bye, Ada.

Ada: Don't work too hard, you two.

Paulina: Ada doesn't seem to think there's no hope between you and Marley.

Jake: This is really hard.

Paulina: Why is that?

Jake: Well, Marley must be going around telling people that we're getting back together.

Paulina: Why would she say that if it wasn't true?

Jake: I guess I am going to just have to be a little bit more direct with her next time I talk to her, you know?

Paulina: It's really hard when you love someone and they don't feel the same way.

Jake: Are you speaking from experience?

Paulina: Maybe I am.

Jake: You know, Paulina, there's a lot more I want to know about you. So why don't we go find that other little office to work in.

Paulina: No, I've changed my mind about that.

Jake: Why?

Paulina: I just think it would be a big mistake. Look, the Corys have been really great to me and I don't want to blow anything. I just think it wouldn't be right, me sneaking around behind their back like this.

Jake: I think you are becoming a little too cautious.

Paulina: Yeah, well, maybe so. But I have a feeling we are not going to do any more work here no matter where we go, so why don't we just pick it up first thing tomorrow morning, all right?

Jake: Are you kicking me out?

Paulina: Being nice about it, aren't I? Come on. Let's go.

Jake: [Clears throat] Paulina.

Paulina: No -- Jake, not here.

Jake: Ok.

Paulina: Rachel is just beginning to trust me. I don't want to blow this.

Jake: Ok, all right. All right, all right. All right. Ok.

Paulina: See you tomorrow, ok?

Jake: Damn it.

Donna: Now, I don't know if you want to buy all new things, but Victoria has tons of clothes and toys left over from when Steven was an infant.

John: Donna, I don't think that we are at the point yet where we have to start worrying about --

Donna: Oh, no, why not? That's a part of the excitement. That's a part of getting ready.

John: Listen, we'll get to it.

Donna: But I think that Sharlene should have a positive project that she is working on, like getting the baby's room ready.

Michael: Donna, back off, ok?

Donna: Why?

John: Because Sharlene still has therapy. There is an awful lot to deal with.

Donna: I know all that, but the best therapy for Sharlene is to get on with her life.

Sharlene: Donna, I know that -- that John is just trying to help me on this.

Donna: But why is he holding back? You see, John, I think you are going about this all wrong. This is a difficult time for Sharlene, and you need to give her your complete love and support.

Michael: All right, that's enough. Donna, stop.

Donna: Why? What's wrong?

Michael: They've got enough on their minds without you offering your input, all right? It's not helping.

John: We are working through it.

Donna: That's just what I mean. It's not enough to work through it. You have to get over it.

Sharlene: Donna, it's going to be ok.

Donna: I know, but I don't think John understands what I am trying to say.

Michael: I don't think I do, either.

Donna: John, people make mistakes. You can't let Sharlene wonder for the rest of her life if you are going to forgive her.

Michael: Donna, why in the world would you say a thing like that?

Hilda: I will leave these here and you can help yourselves.

Matt: Thank you, Hilda.

Olivia: I worked up quite an appetite doing nothing.

Matt: Me, too -- not that it's any news to anyone. I am going to grab a shirt inside.

Olivia: All right, you better hurry up or there won't be anything left.

Matt: Hey, save that ham for me.

[Phone rings]

Hilda: Cory residence. Oh, Mr. Fowler. Yes. Yes, Alli is here, but --

Olivia: Hilda -- Hilda, why don't you go get Alli, and I'll tell Matthew that Sam's on the phone, and he can decide whether or not they should speak to each other.

Hilda: All right. Yes, I'll go get Alli. Hold on.

Olivia: You better hurry up before he hangs up, though.

Olivia: And Amanda's been waiting so long for him to call. Hi, Sam. It's Olivia. Hi, yes. Oh, I'm fine, I'm fine. I -- I was just swimming here with Matthew when you called. Are you all right? I've been worried about you. Oh, that's good. Great. Are you ever coming back? I can't wait to see you. Sure, yeah. I understand perfectly. I won't say a word to anybody.

Amanda: I tried to forget about you, but I couldn't.

Evan: The last thing I want you to do is forget about me.

Amanda: There are times I want to forget about everything. I get dizzy thinking about you and Sam and Alli and trying to do the right thing for everybody.

Evan: Well, I'll tell you what the right thing is. The right thing is for you to be with me. Now, you know how much I love you and I'm crazy about you. I could make you so happy, you'd forget all about Sam.

Amanda: It wasn't like that before.

Evan: That's because before, you weren't free. But now you are.

Amanda: I don't feel free. I feel like I'm wound up so tight I'm just going to snap.

Evan: Well, I remember a time when you did feel free. And you let yourself go. And a whole new world of possibilities opened up for us. Now, we could have that again if you just give it a chance.
