Rachel: Hi, honey.
Jamie: I'm so glad you could make it. I really felt like getting us out of the house tonight.
Amanda: Hey, I was glad that you called. I mean, I get so wired when we work late like this. I wouldnít be able to go home and go to sleep, anyway.
Rachel: So what happened with Stacey?
Jamie: Well, apparently, Derek broke into the house and carried her off.
Rachel: You're kidding.
Rachel: Is she going to be all right?
Jamie: Well, I donít think she exactly minded playing Fay Wray to his King Kong, but I'll call in and find out.
Amanda: You know, I have to admit, Stacey and Derek -- I -- I just donít understand.
Rachel: Well, emotions aren't ever rational. We should all know about that.
Rachel: Which reminds me -- I've got -- could you order me --
Jamie: Well, sure.
Rachel: A cappuccino, ok?
Jamie: Sure, anything.
Rachel: I'll be back.
Jamie: You got it.
Amanda: What was all that about?
Jamie: I haven't the faintest idea.
Vicky: I thought you said Sam liked Bogart films.
Evan: He does.
Vicky: Yeah? Tell that to my rear end. It just sat through two of them. They never showed up. And you owe me not --
Evan: Look, wait one second --
Vicky: Only for the popcorn.
Evan: Oh, stop. You paid for the popcorn and the movies --
Vicky: Yes, yes.
Evan: And I'm going to buy you drinks. It's all going to even out.
Vicky: Well, it better.
Evan: Believe me.
Vicky: Yeah, it better.
Evan: What is this, a date or an audit?
Vicky: Hello. Well, this evening isnít going to be such a disaster after all. Look who's here.
Derek: Here, let me.
Stacey: No, it's all right. I can do it myself, thanks.
Derek: I'm sorry everything's in such a mess. You know, Cal was going through stuff, and then there was a fight and all, and --
Stacey: There's no dial tone.
Derek: What are you doing? No, it got broken during the fight.
Stacey: Oh, great.
Derek: Who'd you need to call?
Stacey: Well, I thought maybe I would call Jamie, you know?
Derek: Oh, Jamie.
Stacey: And apologize for leaving without saying thank you or goodbye, even.
Derek: What do you need to say thank you for? Ah, you're really angry, aren't you?
Stacey: No, no, I'm not angry -- I'm furious!
Cecile: Oh, shoot. I could have sworn I heard that door open. Oh, well -- mother always said patience was a virtue. She also said you had to make your own opportunity. Yeah. Who knew all that garbage would come in handy someday?
Cecile: Yes. "You'll have sweet dreams tonight." That ought to get you upstairs on the double. Ok, um --
Cecile: Now all you have to do is wait.
Frankie: Can you tell who --
Cass: Donít look.
Cass: She's been in the water for a while.
Frankie: Oh, God. Does that mean that you couldn't tell?
Cass: No, no, I could tell. It's Catherine.
Frankie: Ok. What -- what do we do? Do we drag her out? Do we call the cops? What?
Cass: I'll handle this. I just want you to get out of here now.
Frankie: Me? Cass, look, it's me. I'm not some wimpy girl who canít --
Cass: Donít you understand? That could have been you.
Cass: That's what Lucas does to little girls who ask too many questions.
Frankie: I thought I knew him so well, Cass.
Cass: You do now. I donít want you to have anything to do with him -- or any of this. Come on. Sit down right here and donít move, all right?
Cass: You ok?
Cass: I'm going to call the cops.
Cass: The phone's broken. Come on, we got to find another one.
Vivien: That'll be him again.
Iris: Too bad.
Vivien: Mrs. Wheeler, he's been down there since you gave him the heave-ho.
Iris: He can rot in that lobby as far as I'm concerned, Vivien! We are not at home to Lucas!
Vivien: Hello, Clarence, this is Vivien. Yeah, you can tell Lucas it's still a no-go.
Vivien: What? You did? I hope you're not expecting a Christmas bonus. Oh, boy.
Lucas: I have to see her, Viv.
Vivien: Mr. Lucas, you can bribe all the doormen in the world, but when that bedroom door slams the way it did just now --
Lucas: I really blew it this time.
Vivien: She just doesn't respond well to that.
Lucas: But I want to talk to her.
Vivien: Well, how about in the morning?
Lucas: I'm not really in a position to be too pushy here, am I?
Vivien: Not tonight.
Lucas: Well, I guess I'll take your advice and just leave.
Vivien: You're listening to me?
Lucas: Does anyone know Mrs. Wheeler better than you?
Vivien: Not many people notice that.
Lucas: Well, I noticed it. So I guess I'll just take the music box and go.
Vivien: "The music box and go"?
Lucas: Yes, it's for a photo shoot for the fresh faces campaign -- one of the girls. Iris is keeping it in the closet.
Vivien: Oh, sure.
Iris: Keep out of my closets and get out of my apartment.
Lucas: Uh -- could I just have a moment alone with her, Viv?
Iris: Stay where you are, Vivien.
Lucas: Let me explain.
Iris: What's to explain? You had expensive earrings made for Felicia. When she didnít want them, you tried to pawn them off on to me.
Lucas: That's not how it was.
Iris: All right. I'm feeling charitable. I'll give you 60 seconds to change your story.
Lucas: Ok, I did buy those earrings for Felicia, but it was like a goodbye gift. I was going to give them to her after I told her that I was planning on asking you to marry me. How much time do I have left?
Felicia: You know, I'm surprised to see you here so late.
Rachel: Well, Amanda and I decided that we were in a rut. We're either at the office or at home, so we decided we'd meet Jamie here for a nightcap.
Felicia: Good. I'm glad to see you.
Rachel: I've wanted to talk to you.
Felicia: About what?
Rachel: My children say that I am depending too heavily on your husband.
Felicia: I'm sure that doesn't include Matthew.
Rachel: No, he's a dissenter.
Felicia: Well, I can understand why he's happy to see that you and Mitch are working together.
Rachel: What about you?
Felicia: Oh, Rachel, come on. You and I have been friends too long to get into one of these.
Rachel: I agree.
Felicia: I would never have fallen in love with Mitch or married him if I knew I couldn't trust him.
Rachel: Well, I donít like the sound of that.
Felicia: What? What did I say?
Rachel: Well, you say that you can trust Mitch, but you canít trust me.
Felicia: No. That's not what I'm saying. I do think that -- that you've pushed everybody away since Mac died. And believe it or not, I am glad that Mitch is somebody that you can still trust and that will help you, because I do care about you. I do, a lot.
Vicky: And there was a Bogart and the Frenchman --
Vicky: Belmondo film festival at the Tivoli tonight.
Amanda: I know. Sam said that he wanted to go, but I had to work late, so --
Vicky: Oh, that's too bad. Evan insisted we go. We had a great time.
Jamie: I didnít know you were such a film buff.
Evan: Well, she will be, once I take her to all the movies I love.
Evan: Amanda, how are you?
Amanda: I'm fine. Never been better. Well, Mom, look who's here.
Rachel: Hello, Vicky.
Rachel: Evan, I'm glad to see you.
Evan: You are?
Rachel: Yes. Kerner Associates called around 6:30. They were looking for you.
Vicky: Well, we were at the movies.
Rachel: Um -- I think maybe we have the advertise aid account for "Brava."
Evan: At the price I specified?
Rachel: Yeah, sounds like it.
Evan: All right!
Amanda: I thought they weren't interested.
Rachel: No, Evan turned them around.
Evan: No, with your input, Amanda, this could be a million-dollar account.
Rachel: Anyway, so you've done all the negotiating. I would like you to go to New York and meet with their people.
Evan: All right, when do I leave?
Rachel: Friday. You might have to stay over till Monday.
Vicky: Oh, that's too bad. Our weekend in Chicago will be ruined.
Evan: No, no, that's fine. I've worked too hard on this account not to be there to nail it down.
Rachel: Good. Well, have Wendy make your arrangements, ok?
Rachel: Good work.
Vicky: Hey, there's a table over there. Nice chatting with you.
Evan: Nice seeing you.
Jamie: They're getting cozier by the minute.
Amanda: Well, they deserve each other.
Derek: You're really mad, huh?
Stacey: That's what I said, didnít I?
Derek: Oh, great. Just great.
Stacey: What, you donít think I have a right to be?
Derek: I thought you wanted to be with me as much as I wanted to be with you.
Stacey: I do, but I shouldnít have let myself be carried off like that, like I'm living in some sort of fantasy world or something.
Derek: I'm really sorry I did it.
Stacey: What if Jamie was downstairs? What if he saw us?
Derek: I donít really give a damn! Obviously, you do.
Stacey: Well, there's this little thing called common courtesy, you know? Jamie was very kind to me. Everyone in that house waited on me hand and foot. The least I could have done is said "goodbye" and "thank you."
Derek: Ok, fine.
Stacey: What are you doing?
Derek: Fine, you donít want to be with me? That's ok.
Stacey: Where are you taking me?
Derek: Back to that nice, polite world you like so much.
Stacey: Put me down.
Derek: No, it's dirty here.
Stacey: Put me down right now!
Derek: It's not polite here.
Stacey: I donít want to be carried around or manhandled by you or anybody else!
Derek: Why did you stay there?
Stacey: At Jamieís?
Stacey: Because, I told you, it's safer there, and because --
Derek: Yeah, I know. I heard you say all that. And it doesn't make any sense, not from you. What happened? Huh?
Stacey: I was scared.
Derek: Of me?
Stacey: No, not of you. Of that guy -- Cal. He came after me in that place. All of a sudden, I thought, "well, what am I doing here? What am I thinking about? This guy could kill me." And then luckily, you came in just in time.
Derek: Ok, so why did you go home with Jamie?
Stacey: That's what I'm trying to explain to you. I came to in the hospital. And Jamie was the first person that I saw.
Derek: Yeah, he got rid of me real quick.
Stacey: Look, I wasn't thinking straight. My mind -- I donít know -- my head was hurting, and I -- I was scared --
Derek: Of what?
Stacey: I just didnít want you to know how scared I really was.
Derek: You didnít even wait for me. You didnít wait for me to come back. You left me a note, for God's sake.
Stacey: I'm sorry.
Derek: Well, why wouldnít you want me to know how scared you were? You think I donít get scared?
Stacey: I donít know.
Derek: God, I'm scared right now.
Derek: Because I broke into that Cory house, and I brought you out of there. And I did it because I was sure that that's what you wanted. And you were either too hurt or too mixed up to say so, but -- and now, I'm afraid that it's not what you wanted. And maybe I donít know who you are. I'm afraid I'm going to lose you.
Stacey: Look, I just donít want you making decisions for me, that's all.
Derek: Stacey, I did it because I thought it was what you wanted. But I couldn't sit there and have a philosophical discussion with you and Jamie about why you should be with me and not with him. I just knew you had to be with me. And you knew it, too, didnít you? Look, Stacey, I'm not like Jamie or any other man you ever knew. But we belong together.
Stacey: I know --
Derek: What is it? What, honey?
Stacey: Oh -- I just feel kind of dizzy, you know?
Derek: Come on.
Stacey: Please. That wasn't good.
Derek: You're going to be ok. I'll get you to bed. Here. There.
Stacey: Oh, my head.
Iris: Why donít you go on up to bed, Vivien?
Iris: Just -- how did you manage to think that one up?
Lucas: I didnít think it up. It's the truth.
Iris: Oh, it's funny that you should mention it now, after I've confronted you about the earrings, though.
Lucas: Call Felicia.
Iris: Why should I?
Lucas: Because she'll tell you that a few weeks ago, I mentioned that I was going to ask you to marry me.
Iris: I see. What is all this about saying goodbye to Felicia? Not that I believe any of this. I donít.
Lucas: Because Fanny -- Felicia has always been a chapter in my life that didnít really end. So I had to come back. I had to find out how I really felt. But then I met you. And I realized what I felt for Felicia was -- was boy's love.
Iris: But you bought her the earrings.
Lucas: One of the things I always regretted was that I was too poor to buy anything nice for her when we were young.
Iris: But why on earth didnít you give them to her?
Lucas: Because when I told her how I felt about you, she wasn't very happy.
Iris: I can imagine.
Lucas: We argued, and I didnít think it was the right time to give her a present. I'll buy her something later.
Iris: Lucas, I remember the night you gave me those earrings. Do you? We'd been fighting about Felicia, and I'd made up my mind that it was all over between us, and -- and then I went out on the terrace, and you had those earrings, and you gave them to me.
Lucas: I know, I -- I'm sorry, I should have explained then.
Iris: There is one important thing you've neglected to mention.
Lucas: Oh? What's that?
Iris: You never did ask me to marry you.
Lucas: It's not because I doubted you.
Iris: Isnít it?
Lucas: No, I doubted me. You know I've never been married. It's a big step for me. I didnít want to do anything until I was totally committed. Now, am I forgiven?
Iris: Hello, Iris Wheeler. Yes. Yes, he's right here. One moment, please. It's for you. It's the police.
Lucas: Yes. What? Yes, yes. I'll be right there.
Iris: What is it?
Lucas: My God -- it's Catherine.
Iris: What, that blond assistant of yours that you had before Frankie?
Lucas: She's dead.
Lucas: They found her in the bay. They want me to come down to identify her.
Frankie: Look, you made the call, the police are in on it. Everything's under control.
Cass: Yeah, it will be if it doesn't get out that we were the ones who found the body. But the main thing is we have to keep Lucas from finding out.
Frankie: Look, we donít know that it was Lucas who did it.
Cass: Frankie, you're a private investigator -- a very good one. Lucas is the front-runner, you have to admit it. Please, I donít want you to take any chances. What?
Frankie: What's that?
Cass: It's a note, probably from Reuben. "You'll have sweet dreams tonight"?
Frankie: That's not from Reuben.
Cass: I recognize this handwriting, but I canít quite recall from where. And what is this stuff about sweet dreams tonight?
Frankie: Cass --
Frankie: What if that's from the person who iced Catherine? What if he's trying to tell us he knows that we know?
Cass: Does this look like Lucas' handwriting?
Cass: Well, that doesn't matter, anyway, because he'd have somebody else do it. That's it. You're not going home tonight.
Cass: You're staying here with me.
Frankie: That's ridiculous.
Cass: You want to sit alone in that red nightmare that you affectionately refer to as home and wonder if Lucas is on to you?
Frankie: Well, not particularly, but I canít start staying here.
Cass: Where else are you going to go?
Cass: What are you going to tell Sharlene?
Frankie: I'll tell her -- I donít know what I'm going to tell her. I'll think of something, but this cannot happen. This would be a mistake.
Cass: Why? Why, because of us?
Frankie: I donít want to mess things up. I want to be very careful.
Cass: I want you here with me.
Frankie: Oh, God. Do you know how many times I have daydreamed you would say that to me? But it wasn't supposed to be because you were afraid some maniac was going to fit me for cement wedgies and throw me in the bay. Oh, I know what this means. You're going to kiss me, right?
Frankie: What's going to happen?
Cass: We'll still take it one step at a time, but tonight I want to know where you are.
Rachel: I'm really excited about this Kerner associates thing. It could open up a whole new market of advertisers for us.
Amanda: You just donít understand, Mom.
Amanda: You talk to Evan like everything was hunky-dory.
Rachel: I talk to Evan as though he were a business associate who had done a good job, which he is.
Amanda: If I had talked to him that nicely, he would automatically --
Jamie: Amanda --
Amanda: Have told me that I --
Jamie: Amanda, can you give it a rest, please?
Rachel: Yes, please.
Amanda: Me? I'm not the one that's still pining after my ex.
Rachel: Shh. Would you keep your voice down, please?
Amanda: Or spending all of my free time with someone else's husband.
Rachel: Amanda --
Amanda: Why am I always the one that's in trouble? I'm completely committed to my marriage, and things have never been better. Never.
Vicky: She's looking over here.
Vicky: Donít give me "who."
Evan: What about Jamie?
Vicky: Hmm, he sneaks in a glance every now and then, but he's too smart to make a scene in front of Rachel. Donít get really ticked off at me, ok? But what exactly do you see in her?
Vicky: I mean, I know she's pretty, in a Miss America sort of way.
Evan: Vicky --
Vicky: We're partners in crime, and I just want to know what the major attraction is.
Evan: Well, it seems pretty evident to me.
Vicky: Not to me. I thought you'd at least want someone with a little excitement.
Evan: I do. Let's go.
Vicky: Well, I think I've figured out the problem.
Evan: What problem?
Vicky: You just donít know what excitement is.
Frankie: Where's the light switch?
Cass: Who cares about a light switch?
Cass: What? What?
Frankie: There's someone in this bed!
Cass: Oh, no.
Frankie: Who's she?
Cecile: I could say the same thing.
Cecile: Who's she?
Frankie: Frame. Frankie Frame.
Cecile: Cute name. Now, why donít you run along, dear? Cass and I need to talk.
Cass: You stay right here, Frankie. What the hell are you doing here, Cecile?
Cecile: Is that any way to talk to your long-lost love? I didnít mean to fall asleep, if that's what you're griping about, but it got so late. So you didnít waste much time after Nicole, huh?
Frankie: Hello? Excuse me. Sorry to interrupt, but either I get a formal introduction or I get the hell out of here.
Cecile: How about both? I'm Cecile Depoulignac. Yes, and we know who you are, donít we?
Cecile: Can we get her a cab or something? You look good, Cass. You look so good.
Cass: Yeah, a lot better than in our last encounter, Cecile, when I couldn't get away from you fast enough.
Frankie: I thought you said she was the one who got away.
Cecile: You did? You said that? He said that? That is so sweet!
Cass: Oh, stop that, will you, please? I should have known I hadn't seen the last of you.
Cecile: Darling, I prefer to forget that unfortunate incident. I really wish you would. You behaved terribly towards me, but I forgive you. Besides, I was under a great deal of stress at the time. Poor late king was driving me crazy.
Cass: Yeah, that reminds me, Cecile -- your more recent husband. How is he doing these -- how old is his royal highness now? 15 or 15 1/2?
Cecile: No, it's all over, Cass. I've left it all behind me.
Cass: Yeah, obviously, you didnít take the time to pack your panties.
Frankie: Well, then that note downstairs was from you.
Cass: Your majesty, get something on your form and get going.
Frankie: No, I am going.
Cecile: Good idea.
Cass: Frankie, donít go.
Frankie: After all, the only reason I am here is to tell you that Lucas wants you to butt out.
Cecile: Lucas? Is this the same Lucas -- Iris' friend?
Frankie: Well, he happens to be my boss. And he wants me to tell this guy to stop bugging him. Got it? Got it?
Cass: Got it.
Frankie: Good. I'm gone.
Cass: Wait a minute, Frankie. Wait a minute. Hey!
Cecile: This is going to be easier than I thought.
Evan: Well, that was subtle.
Vicky: Just trying to help out. She's still looking.
Evan: No, you didnít do that for Amandaís sake, or to prove anything to Jamie.
Vicky: Oh, well, I do think you're kind of cute.
Evan: Thanks. That's not it, either.
Vicky: Really? Well, pray tell, what were my motives, Evan?
Evan: Never mind. Let's go. Come on.
Rachel: So if Evan will take it farther than --
Amanda: And I'm sorry, I'm really tired. I think I'm going to go, ok?
Rachel: No, I'll go with you.
Amanda: No, stay. Finish your cappuccino. Jamie, you can take her home, right?
Jamie: Of course I can.
Amanda: All right. Bye, Mom.
Amanda: Bye, Jamie.
Jamie: Bye. Mom, listen, I'm sure she didnít mean what she said.
Rachel: Oh, yes, she did, for the moment. The trouble is she used to have Mac to turn to when we weren't seeing eye to eye. Now who is she going to turn to?
Amanda: Excuse me.
Evan: Oh, actually, I want to talk to you.
Amanda: Me? What about?
Evan: About the trip to New York. I think I should bring someone. Hi.
Amanda: Oh, ok. So?
Evan: Yes, I think I need someone from the creative side.
Amanda: Well, I -- I donít know if I'm available then.
Evan: Oh, ok. Then I guess I could bring Iris.
Evan: Is there a problem with that?
Amanda: Kerner Associates is a very important account. I donít want them thinking that they're going to have to deal with somebody as dishonest as Iris.
Evan: Well, there is one thing about Iris. If she thought it was important to the company, she would rearrange her schedule.
Amanda: I'll look at my book.
Evan: Good. Then I'll talk to you in the morning?
Amanda: You're going to have to find me. I have a very busy day tomorrow.
Vicky: You're taking Amanda?
Evan: Vicky, that's the whole point, isnít it?
Vicky: Good move.
Evan: Then I'll get your coat.
Derek: I shouldnít have moved you.
Stacey: No, I'm all right. I'm just tired.
Derek: Ok, sleep.
Derek: Ok, you sleep. I'll be here.
Felicia: You know, we have to talk about getting you a new apartment. All right? Donít you think it's about time?
Felicia: Before I kill myself in here? Oh, thank you. Oh.
Derek: Shh, shh, shh.
Felicia: What? Staceyís here?
Derek: I wanted her back here as soon as I knew that Cal was in jail.
Felicia: Is she all right?
Derek: Yeah, I think so.
Felicia: So how did it go at the police station?
Derek: Fine, they took my statement and they let me go.
Felicia: Honey, what is it?
Derek: The reason Staceyís here -- I didnít talk her into leaving the Cory house, I broke in there and I carried her out.
Felicia: You didnít.
Derek: I did.
Felicia: You know, I write about that in books, but I never knew anybody who actually did it in real life.
Derek: Well, it didnít go the way it happens in books.
Felicia: Why? What happened?
Derek: She was mad.
Felicia: Oh. Well, she probably wanted to make up her own mind.
Derek: Well, if she doesn't want to be with me, I'll take her back to where --
Felicia: Honey, look, why donít the two of you get some rest, and you can talk about it in the morning?
Derek: Fanny, I would have killed Cal if you hadn't have stopped me. And then I broke into the Cory house, and -- and I took Stacey away from where she was safe and warm.
Felicia: Now --
Derek: What the hell is the matter with me?
Felicia: Listen to me. You didnít kill Cal, and you did cooperate with the police. And as far as I can tell, Stacey is very warm and very happy right where she is.
Felicia: Honey, there is something that I want to ask you about.
Derek: About what Cass said?
Felicia: Yeah. About Lucas.
Derek: I know.
Felicia: Do you think it's true? Do you think he might be a criminal?
Lucas: You are your father's daughter, aren't you?
Iris: Now, what's that supposed to mean?
Lucas: Well, you're warm inside and hard as nails when you have to be on the outside.
Iris: Mm-hmm. When I have to be.
Lucas: Well, you know how everything is now. And you know I want you in my life. If we see each other tomorrow, it's -- it's up to you. I'd better be going. Oh, I got to get that thing.
Iris: What thing?
Lucas: The music box for the photo session.
Iris: Oh. Oh. Well, I'm afraid you're going to have to get another one.
Iris: The elevator's here.
Lucas: Well, what happened to the music box?
Iris: Oh. Well, Vicky -- you know, Vicky Hudson -- she came over and she had the baby with her, and Steven got attached to the music box, so I gave it to him.
Lucas: Vicky Hudson has it?
Iris: Mm-hmm. So you're just going to have to send someone out for another one.
Cass: Frankie, wait.
Frankie: Look, I -- I got to get out of here.
Cass: Not yet.
Frankie: Well, she knows everybody in Bay City! What if she finds out --
Cass: She wonít! That's the thing about Cecile. She drops in out of the blue when she wants something, that's all.
Frankie: I have a sneaking suspicion I know what that something is.
Cass: I donít want you going home alone.
Frankie: Look, I'll go to Sharleneís. I'll figure out something to tell her. You go talk to Cecile.
Cass: Let me tell you something about Cecile. To her I'm nothing more than an amusing diversion whenever she's on to something bigger and better.
Frankie: Well, then she is out of her mind.
Cass: I donít want you to go home, especially not because of Cecile.
Frankie: I have a lot of things to think about. It's been a very big night, you know.
Cass: Are you sure?
Frankie: Yes, I'm sure.
Cass: Promise me that you wonít make any kind of contact with Lucas until I see you again.
Frankie: Scout's honor. Thanks for tonight. With the exception of the body, it was great.
Cecile: Sorry if I ruined your evening.
Cass: Oh, you didnít. You heard what Frankie said.
Cecile: Hmm. She works for Lucas.
Cass: That's right.
Cecile: Yeah. And she sits on the end of your bed and whispers sweet messages from him in your ear.
Cass: Cecile, I'm really beat.
Cecile: I heard about Kathleen -- and Nicole. I'm awfully sorry.
Cass: Thank you. Now, why donít you get dressed and get your things together? I'll call you a taxi.
Cecile: I was hoping you wouldnít have found anyone new.
Cass: Please, Cecile --
Cecile: You look good, Cass. You really do. I mean, you've been through so much, and yet, you look even better than I remembered.
Cass: Stop this right now.
Cecile: Donít you even want to know why I came back?
Derek: I donít think Luke is the same guy we knew back on Gold Street.
Derek: I ran into this girl. She used to work as an assistant for Lucas.
Felicia: She's disappeared. I was at Lucas' suite when the police questioned him.
Derek: What did he say?
Felicia: He said he didnít know anything about it.
Derek: Oh, I'll bet.
Felicia: Derek, do you?
Derek: Catherine's dead.
Felicia: How do you know that?
Derek: I canít tell you how I know, but I know.
Felicia: And you think that Lucas is responsible for it?
Derek: I think he could be.
Felicia: Oh. This is really all because of me.
Felicia: Because of what happened to us when we were kids.
Derek: Oh --
Felicia: He didnít think that I wanted him in my life anymore, and he -- he lost his child and --
Derek: Fanny --
Felicia: Oh, that's all because of me.
Derek: Fanny, you are as much a victim as he was, but you went out and made something good out of your life.
Felicia: He's a loner, Derek. Nobody knows him. That's why everybody thinks the absolute worst about him.
Derek: This is not about what people think.
Felicia: Are you saying to me that there is a witness or there's some proof that he did something?
Felicia: Well, he didnít do it. I know he didnít. He would never hurt anyone. I know him.
Derek: You're still in love with him, aren't you?
Felicia: No. But I do know him.
Derek: I donít think anybody knows Lucas.
Felicia: I do.
Derek: Fanny, I know how loyal you can be, and I know that you would do anything for your friends, but you've got to be careful now.
Felicia: Of Lucas?
Derek: Lucas is dangerous, Fanny.
Felicia: No, he's not. I really have to go, honey.
Derek: Fanny --
Felicia: I do.
Derek: Please, listen to me. I donít know what I would do if anything happened to you. But you got to promise me that you're not going to have anything to do with this guy until we know for certain who killed Catherine.
Felicia: He didnít do it. I know he didnít.
Derek: Fanny --
Felicia: I also know something else. He would never do anything to hurt me. Not anything.
Officer: Thanks for the I.D., Mr. Lucas.
Lucas: Who's going to talk to the family?
Officer: I guess I'll call.
Lucas: Well, if you speak to the mother, go easy. I remember Catherine saying she wasn't well.
Officer: Yeah. Sure. Thanks again.
Officer: Someone will probably be calling you in the morning.
Lucas: Of course.
Griffen: I love that touch about the sick mother. I really love that.
Lucas: What are you doing here? Haven't you done enough?
Griffen: Oh, calm down. They're not going to be able to trace it to me.
Lucas: Yeah? I can trace it to you.
Griffen: Yes, and you're not going to do anything. Because if you do, you will be in as deep as I am. Now, what are you going to do about the red swan? And I hope you've changed your mind about holding on to it.
Lucas: No, I have to get rid of it now. Because you're connected with it. They're going to run a make on this girl. Donít you understand that?
Griffen: Oh, donít try to blame me for this. It should have been in the shipment weeks ago. And if it is not in the shipment tomorrow --
Lucas: What? You going to kill me, too?
Griffen: Lucas. Iris has it, right?
Lucas: No. She gave it to a woman named Victoria Frame.
Lucas: Doesn't matter why. But I guess I'm going to have to visit Miss Frame.
Vicky: Sure you donít want to stay for some coffee or something?
Evan: No, no, I've really got to get home. I've got to get up early.
Vicky: Oh, to plan that trip to New York, right?
Vicky: Uh-huh. It was smart of you to bring up Iris. Now Amandaís dying to go.
Vicky: I'm sure you'll make the best of it.
Evan: Yeah, I intend to.
Vicky: You and Amanda. No Sam, no Rachel. The two of you working side by side, wheeling and dealing. It's very sexy.
Evan: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Calm down now, girl. It's strictly business.
Vicky: Uh-huh. If you want Amanda, you'd better fish or cut the bait.
Evan: You know, you were pretty big on lessons tonight.
Vicky: Oh, you mean the big smooch? I was just trying to help you out.
Evan: Were you?
Evan: Well, your technique's a little rusty. But then again, I guess you -- you are out of practice.
Vicky: Bastard. No one's ever complained before.
Evan: Oh. Well, good. Because this is how you do it.
Evan: Good night.
Iris: I haven't been here since your memorial service.
Iris: I'm sorry I haven't been to visit your grave, Daddy. I've been pushing ahead, just like I always do. And I've been made president of Cory Publishing. I told everybody it's what you wanted. Oh, God. Is it what you want? I need you. I -- I want to talk to you, I want to tell you, I want to ask you things. I want to ask you about what to do about Lucas.
Iris: Is that you, Amanda? I guess we were both thinking about him tonight.
Amanda: I think about him all the time. Especially when I have a decision to make.
Iris: Yes. You know, I -- I never imagined that he wouldnít come back from Maine. I always thought I'd get a chance to --
Amanda: Say goodbye. I know. Me, too.
Iris: I suppose you'd like to be alone. I could leave.
Amanda: No. No, you can stay. You were his daughter, too. He'd like seeing us both here together.
Stacey: No. No -- please, donít.
Derek: Stacey --
Stacey: No. No! Oh!
Derek: Stacey, it's ok. Shh. It's ok. You're ok. All right?
Derek: This is why I brought you here. Because I knew that -- I didnít think that a big mansion and a lot of servants could keep you from being scared in the middle of the night. I know about that. Look, maybe I didnít go about it in the right way, but I couldn't be with you there. And I knew you'd get scared, and I felt like I was losing you.
Stacey: I need you.
Derek: I'm not going anywhere.
Stacey: You wonít lose me. I promise.
Rachel: Hi. How's Steven?
Jamie: Oh, just fine.
Rachel: Oh, ok.
Jamie: It's getting pretty late, you know.
Rachel: I know. I couldn't sleep.
Jamie: Are you worried about something?
Rachel: No. For the first time in a long time, I'm not worried about anything. I feel good.
Jamie: What are you thinking about?
Rachel: About the red swan. I have a sense that it's nearby. That's probably silly. But I just feel like everything's going to be ok again.
Cass: If you're not leaving, Cecile, I will sleep in my office. But you will return to Iris' in the morning.
Cecile: You're looking a little tired, darling.
Cass: You want to know what I'm tired of? I'm tired of you thinking that I'll drop everything and jump into the sack with you just because you show up and take your clothes off.
Cecile: Used to work.
Cass: Yeah. Well, I'm sadder and wiser now.
Cecile: Yeah. Well, me, too. Took long enough, didnít it?
Cass: Yeah. Well, good night.
Cecile: Donít you ever think about the way it was with us? Way back in the beginning? When we couldn't get enough of each other.
Cass: Yeah, how long did that last? About 15 minutes? Until you came up with another grandiose scheme or another man? Or a king? That one I liked. That one was rich.
Cecile: This time it's just you. That's right, just you. I've finally gotten smart. We were great together, Cass. In the beginning. Pretty hot in the middle, too. I remember. Come on. Donít you dare try to tell me you've forgotten that.
