Courtney: You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand?

Mitch: You knew it, didnít you? You knew that you were going to arrest her when you brought her in here.

Courtney: Do you understand?

Felicia: Yes, I do.

Courtney: If you choose to give up that right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand?

Felicia: Yes.

Mitch: Do you understand?

Courtney: You have the right to have an attorney present --

Mitch: She's got an attorney --

Courtney: Mr. Blake!

Mitch: And you waited till she left the room!

Felicia: Mitch --

Mitch: Look, what are you doing? What, do you run a police state around here?

Rick: Mr. Blake, we'll have you removed from this office, and then Felicia wonít have anybody.

Mitch: Yeah, I'm sure you care about that. Look, they canít do this to you.

Felicia: Honey, please.

Courtney: Do you understand, Felicia?

Felicia: Yes.

Courtney: If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you. Do you understand?

Felicia: Yes, I do. Mitch, Cass and Stacey will be back, and we will straighten all of this out.

Mitch: Look, we said that we wouldn't let something like this happen to you.

Felicia: Honey, I'll be all right.

Courtney: Felicia, do you wish to waive your rights?

Felicia: No, I do not.

Rick: Mr. Blake, you're going to have to leave now.

Mitch: Why do I have to leave?

Rick: We're going to start the booking process.

Mitch: I'd like to stay here.

Rick: I'm sorry, that's impossible.

Felicia: Honey? It's all right. Now, you go and find Cass and Stacey if you can, all right?

Mitch: All right.

Rick: Mr. Blake, we have to get this process started.

Mitch: Ok, ok, I'll find somebody. You canít get away with this.

Nicole: This is where Noah Grady lived?

Cass: It's the address on all those cards that Felicia sent.

Nicole: Why did she think he was here?

Cass: I don't know.

Nicole: Cheery place.

Cass: Well, wait till you see the landlady. Mrs. Kramer makes Maria Ouspenskaya look like Shirley Temple. Oh, come on, don't tell me nobody's here?

Nicole: Maybe the doorbell's broken.

Cass: Somebody's got to be home. I mean, this is the only thing we've got that's going to help Felicia. Hello, is anybody there? Come on, open the door! Hello?

Stacey: Look -- uh -- whoever you are, I haven't really got time for this. I have a client to represent. If you're playing some sort of game with me, I don't want to play. Ok, five minutes. I'll give you five minutes to show your face, then I am out of here.

[Classical music plays]

[Music stops]

Iris: There's no need to look so indignant, Rachel. You knew daddy invited me for dinner.

Rachel: I want us to talk first.

Iris: About what?

Rachel: A little tense?

Iris: Yes. I've had a very trying day. And I don't like being accosted, especially by you.

Rachel: I've had a bit of a trying day myself. I just got back from Jasonís funeral.

Iris: I'm surprised you went. The clergyman must've been hard-pressed to find something to eulogize that disgusting little man.

Rachel: I keep remembering how you wanted us to hire that disgusting little man to build the spa. You thought it was a good idea for us to forgive and forget.

Iris: Why are you dredging this up now?

Rachel: Because I found a photograph from Feliciaís party of you and Jason.

Iris: You went through my garbage?

Rachel: Yes. It was in the wastebasket. Why did you throw it away, Iris?

Iris: It's none of your damn business! Perhaps it was unflattering.

Rachel: Perhaps you didnít want anyone to see you with Jason?

Iris: I wasn't with Jason! I didnít even know he was at the party or in the picture!

Rachel: Then who did you suppose you were talking to? Why don't you give me the truth just once, Iris?

Iris: Rachel, I'm not going through an inquisition with you, thank you.

Rachel: What was going on with you and Jason?

Iris: There wasn't anything going on between me and Jason.

Rachel: Then why did you want us to hire him?

Iris: All right, Rachel, I'll explain it to you one more time. We hired Frame Construction because they gave us an excellent price. And, if I remember, you weren't getting on too well with Matthew at that time, and we thought if we hired Josieís Uncle --

Rachel: Why don't you just give me the real reason?

Iris: Rachel, I'm not going to tolerate this anymore!

Rachel: It's interesting how self-righteous you get in direct proportion to how much trouble you're in. Something was going on with Jason, and it wasn't just business.

Iris: It doesn't matter how hard I try or what I do, does it? You'll always see me as the spoiled little girl who'll try and get away with anything?

Rachel: Yes, that's exactly how I see you. I think you get away with murder.

Cass: Damn it, answer the door!

Nicole: I canít believe we came all the way to Boston for nothing.

Cass: Yeah, well, we're not going back with nothing. Hey, I just saw a light go on.

Nicole: Well, she probably saw you and she wants to have you go away.

Cass: Yeah, well, you canít always get what you want.

Nicole: Oh, Cass -- look, why don't we just go find a phone, call her up? Maybe we can convince --

Cass: No, we canít take the time! I have to get back to Bay City tonight. The cops are moving too fast on this thing. I want to be there if Felicia needs me.

Nicole: What does that mean, "the cops are moving too fast"? Cass, talk to me.

Cass: What? What?

Nicole: Well, what are you supposed to do if this woman wonít answer the door?

Cass: You are about to see why I never leave home without it.

Rick: Well, you're in luck -- the booking room is getting a long-overdue paint job, so we'll handle it right in here.

Felicia: Yeah, I'm lucky, all right.

Officer: I need an eight-letter word that means "craft." It starts with an A.

Felicia: "Artifice."

Courtney: Madeline, this is --

Madeline: Felicia Gallant, we're booking you?

Courtney: Yes, she's here to be booked.

Officer: What?

Felicia: Listen, why don't we get this over with, all right? What do you need, my jewelry or something?

Madeline: All valuables in here. They'll be returned when you leave.

Judge's voice: Have the suspect step over here, please.

Feliciaís voice: "Suspect"?

Judge's voice: What's the charge?

Officer's voice: Murder in the second degree -- for now.

Feliciaís voice: "For now"? I never meant to kill Jason. I'd never hurt anyone intentionally!

Madelineís voice: That's Felicia Gallant!

Courtneyís voice: You admit that you fired the gun? There is a question of a letter we found on Jasonís body.

Feliciaís voice: Yes, but --

Courtneyís voice: And we told you about the forensics report. There was a struggle. Jason had bruises and scratches on his face.

Officer's voice: Have the suspect step over here, please.

Judge's voice: What's the charge?

Officer's voice: Murder in the second degree. Murder in the second degree. Murder in the second degree.

Courtneyís voice: You admit that you fired the gun? There is a question of a letter we found on Jasonís body. You admit that you fired the gun?

Feliciaís voice: Yes, but --

Courtneyís voice: And we told you about the forensics report. There was a struggle. Jason had bruises and scratches on his face. You admit that you fired the gun?

Feliciaís voice: I never meant to kill Jason. I'd never hurt anyone intentionally!

Madelineís voice: That's Felicia Gallant!

Courtneyís voice: You admit that you fired the gun?

Judge's voice: What's the charge?

Officer's voice: Murder in the second degree. Murder in the second degree. Murder in the second degree.

[Mirror breaks]

[Felicia screams]

Officer's voice: Murder in the second degree -- for now.

Feliciaís voice: "For now"? I never meant to kill Jason. I'd never hurt anyone intentionally!

Madelineís voice: That's Felicia Gallant!

Courtneyís voice: You admit that you fired the gun? There is a question of a letter we found on Jasonís body.

Feliciaís voice: Yes, but --

Courtneyís voice: And we told you about the forensics report. There was a struggle. Jason had bruises and scratches on his face.

Felicia: This really isnít a bad dream, is it? This is really happening.

Courtney: Yes, Felicia, it is. Your accident story just doesn't match the evidence.

Iris: Murder?

Rachel: You heard me.

Iris: That had better be a metaphor, Rachel. Otherwise, you're in trouble.

Rachel: Oh, I don't think I'm the one who's in trouble.

Iris: Listen, I didnít have a reason to kill Jason Frame. And even if I did, I -- I would never -- I -- I could never take a human life. The thought repels me. You're the one who's had experience in that area.

Rachel: You referring to Janice Frame?

Iris: Well, you had a problem with her and you sent her to the hereafter, didnít you?

Rachel: Interesting how you twist the truth to suit your own point of view, Iris.

Iris: I'm sorry, isnít that what you're doing?

Rachel: What did Jason have on you, Iris?

Iris: Jason didnít have anything on me. In fact, if anyone had a reason to kill Jason, it was you. I mean, those pictures that he took of Amanda? And then him telling Matthew about what you did to Janice? You must've clicked your heels when you heard he was dead.

Rachel: You're getting very defensive. I hope you don't think by this that I'm implying that you murdered Jason.

Iris: No, that would be ridiculous. Feliciaís already admitted it -- she shot Jason. The case is practically closed.

Rachel: It is curious that you jumped to that conclusion, now, isnít it?

Iris: Rachel, this has got to stop.

Rachel: Something was going on with you and Jason and I intend to find out what it is.

Mac: Feliciaís been arrested.

Rachel: What?

Mac: Mitch just called. They're taking her to the courthouse to set bail.

Rachel: Bail? What's the charge?

Mac: Murder.

Iris: What?

Mac: Yes, I couldn't believe it, either. They're charging her with murdering Jason.

Rachel: She had no reason to murder Jason.

Mac: Get your coats if you want to come with me. I'm going to see if there's anything I can do to help.

Courtney: I called Cass' office, I talked to Zack.

Felicia: What did he say?

Courtney: Well, I told him that both Cass and Stacey are unavailable, so he's on his way over.

Felicia: Thank you. I would like to say something.

Rick: Without a lawyer present?

Felicia: Yes.

Courtney: You realize you're waiving your rights to counsel?

Felicia: Yes, I know.

Courtney: All right. Is this all right?

Felicia: Yes, it's fine. I want to make a statement.

Courtney: Go ahead.

Felicia: I have always loved life. I have always tried to do the right thing. Now, I know what your reports say, but I wouldn't lie to you. If I meant to kill Jason Frame, you can bet that I would own up to it. I know that this was an accident.

Rick: Look, Felicia, I'm going to ask you just one more time. Was there anyone else in the room with you, anyone that you were aware of?

Felicia: Just the man who was in the strongman costume.

Rick: But he claims he was in a bar across from where the party was being held. We have witnesses that corroborate his --

Felicia: Well, maybe there were two strongmen. It's possible. The man that's been following me had a scar. I told you that. Now, the night of the party, he had a mask on, but I know it was the same man.

Rick: We have employment records. He was the only man hired to work that party.

Felicia: Maybe he didnít get hired. Maybe he just rented the costume so he could sneak into the party without being stopped.

Courtney: All right, we'll check it out. Now, Jason Frame was renovating your apartment, right?

Felicia: Yes, he was.

Rick: So he was around you quite a lot, and some of that time, your husband was out of town.

Felicia: No. Please don't do that.

Rick: I have to ask -- was there anything between the two of you?

Felicia: I tolerated Jason Frame. I don't know how he felt about me. I have no idea.

Rick: You don't?

Felicia: No, I don't!

Rick: You mean he never came on to you?

Felicia: He came on to a dead mackerel! If you don't know that, then you don't know anything about Jason Frame!

Courtney: And why do you suppose he had a letter from you to your stepfather?

Felicia: No, no, it was a Christmas card.

Courtney: All right, a Christmas card.

Rick: A Christmas card that was marked "return to sender."

Courtney: Why did he have it?

Felicia: I don't know why he had it. I have no idea. He was very sneaky.

Courtney: All right, why was the card sent back?

Felicia: My stepfather was a very religious man. He never approved of my lifestyle.

Rick: Why was that?

Felicia: Don't you think this is irrelevant?

Courtney: Why did Jason know about your relationship with your stepfather?

Felicia: Look, look -- I don't know what Jason wanted with the Christmas card. I have no idea. I don't know what he thought he was going to do with it. All I know is that this death was an accident.

Zack: Felicia?

Felicia: Oh, Zack, thank goodness you're here.

Zack: Look, let's go. The judge is still in session. Maybe we can get this all taken care of tonight, ok?

Felicia: All right, good.

Zack: You all right?

Felicia: Yes, yes, I'm fine.

Madeline: Before you leave, would you sign this? And make it to "Madeline"?

Stacey: Are -- are you the person that called Cass Winthrop's office? I'm Stacey Winthrop. I'm Cass' sister. We're in practice together. I'm a lawyer. It's ok, you can talk to me. Look, I wish that you would say something. You're kind of undermining my confidence here. It's -- it's not my stronghold to conduct interviews in a back alley like this. Please, will you talk to me? Do you know anything about Felicia Gallant?

Man: Fanny.

Nicole: Cass?

Cass: Shh.

Nicole: Cass, do you know what you're doing?

Cass: Come in.

Nicole: I believe you lawyer types call this breaking and entering.

Cass: Be quiet!

Nicole: If we get arrested, you know, this could ruin --

Cass: Shh. I think someone is watching us.

Nicole: Oh -- oh, thanks a lot.

Cass: Be quiet!

Nicole: What?

[Noise]

Cass: Oh --

Nicole: Cass --

Cass: Shh. Don't be afraid.

Nicole: Oh, no. Why would I be afraid? This is just like "The House of Usher." Oh, and I'm just cool as a cuke.

Cass: It's just an old lady, right?

Nicole: Did you ever see "Arsenic and Old Lace"?

Cass: I'm telling you it's no problem.

Nicole: No problem at all.

Mac: Mitch?

Mitch: Thank you for coming.

Mac: I'm glad you called me, Mitch.

Rachel: Where's Felicia?

Mitch: I spoke with one of the guards. They said they would bring her into the courtroom as soon as they got through booking her.

Mac: "Booking" -- I canít believe -- this is like a nightmare.

Rachel: And one we've already been through.

Mac: Yeah.

Mitch: They're doing the same thing to her that they did to you, Mac. I mean, she's tried to explain to them that it was an accident. I mean, they don't even have anything -- maybe some circumstantial evidence, but that's it. Why would she kill Jason Frame?

Rachel: Is Rick Graham on this?

Mitch: I've about had it with that guy.

Mac: He had me tried and convicted of killing Drew Marsten. I'll never forget what we went through.

Rachel: What you went through.

Iris: How is Felicia? Is she all right?

Mitch: Well, you know, she's taking it on the chin.

Rachel: She'll be vindicated for this, just as Mac was.

Mitch: She's not going to prison. Nobody knows what that's like.

Iris: She wonít go to prison.

Mitch: Nothing's going to happen to her.

Mac: I'll see to it that it doesnít. You and Felicia can count on me, Mitch.

Mitch: Ok, thank you. Thank you a lot.

Iris: Just remember, you have the resources of "Brava" and Cory Publishing behind you.

Mitch: Maybe we should go inside. I told her I would be there.

Rachel: Let's go.

Cass: I -- I think there's been a slight misunderstanding here.

Woman: I understand fine. You take one more step, and I'm going to blow you away.

Nicole: Oh, please --

Woman: And you, too, missy. Betsy here is an equal opportunity enforcer.

Nicole: But all we want is some information about a former tenant.

Woman: Hmm. Yeah, that and the silverware.

Cass: Nicole --

Nicole: If you could please just put that down and tell us where Noah Grady is now, it would mean so much to us. His stepdaughter needs his help so badly, Mrs. Kramer.

Cass: Nicole, this --

Nicole: And, please, if you could just tell us where he is, Mrs. Kramer --

Cass: This isnít Mrs. Kramer!

Woman: Ah. That's the first intelligent thing to come out of your mouth since you broke in here.

Cass: Where is she?

Woman: Who?

Cass: Mrs. Kramer, the woman who operates this boarding house, the woman I talked to last Christmas Eve.

Woman: Christmas Eve?

Cass: That's right. I was talking to a Mrs. Kramer about Noah Grady. Now, would you mind putting that gun down and telling us what's going on here?

Stacey: What do you know about Fanny?

Man: Did you come here alone?

Stacey: Yeah. Yeah, I did come alone.

Man: How do I know if I can trust you?

Stacey: I mean, I don't -- I don't know. You canít know for sure. Um -- hey, listen, I'm the one who took all the risk coming down here. In ordinary circumstances, I wouldn't come down to a place like this by myself. I did it on the basis of one phone call because I care about Felicia. So does my brother. He's her lawyer. Listen, have you got any information about her? Any information at all about --

[Stacey gasps]

Stacey: Why did you do that?

Man: Give me your hand.

Stacey: Oh, no -- wait a second. You're just Ė

[Reporters shouting questions]

Zack: Excuse us.

Mitch: Felicia, are you ok?

[Judge pounds gavel]

Judge: Silence!

Mac: Just concentrate on getting her out, Mitch.

Judge: Mr. Edwards, you're representing Ms. Gallant?

Zack: Yes, I am, your honor.

Ms. Graves: At least the distinguished firm of Winthrop and Edwards has one member who can get to court when his client needs him.

Judge: Just state the charge, Ms. Graves.

Ms. Graves: Murder, your honor, in the second degree.

Mitch: That's crazy!

Rachel: Of course it is, Mitch.

[Judge pounds gavel]

Rachel: Just calm down.

Ms. Graves: The state has obtained evidence that Felicia Gallant, A.K.A. Fanny Grady, did willfully and premeditatedly take the life of one Jason Frame on the evening of February 23 of this year. We are requesting bail be set at $400,000.

Cass: Thank you. That's ever so much better.

Woman: Mrs. Kramer isnít here.

Cass: I realize that. Do you know when she'll be back?

Woman: I haven't the foggiest.

Cass: When you say "she isnít here," what does that mean? She's off to the movies? She's on vacation? What?

Woman: You're awful pushy for a second story, man.

Cass: When did she leave?

Woman: About a week ago.

Cass: Oh, isnít that convenient? Then she was bound for some mysterious place in Africa, no doubt?

Woman: Africa? You don't know Mrs. Kramer very well.

Cass: Did she tell you where she was going?

Woman: She was getting up in years, her eyes were failing her. So she decided to move to one of those retirement places -- silver -- or golden -- happy something.

Cass: A week ago?

Woman: Right.

Cass: Those places aren't cheap.

Woman: I guess she thought she could swing it.

Cass: On what she made here running a boarding house?

Woman: Now, look, I answered your question, and I'm not going to charge you for this broken lock. Now, you and your lady friend --

Cass: Did she tell you what to say to me in case I came by asking questions?

Woman: Are you kidding? She told me where the fuse box was and where to pick up my check.

Cass: And nothing about Noah Grady?

Woman: Nothing about anybody.

Cass: Sounds like she was in a bit of a hurry.

Woman: As you May have noticed, this is not exactly the Taj Mahal. Now, if she was looking forward to her basket weaving class or whatever, well, I -- I canít say that I blame her.

Cass: So she was anxious to leave?

Woman: You. You're that fellow that called her on the last day, aren't you, got her all upset?

Cass: Yeah, yeah, that's me.

Woman: Well, I'm the one that took that call. I should never have let you talk to Mrs. Kramer that day. You're not exactly Dale Carnegie, you know. Poor thing. No wonder she was a bundle of nerves when she hung up the phone.

Cass: All she had to do was play ball when I asked her about Noah Grady.

Woman: "Play ball"? Now, look here, Mr. Frame, I don't know what you're after, but --

Cass: "Mr. Frame"?

Woman: Don't go trying to change your story on me, mister. I got a mind like a steel trap. And I never forget a name, and you told me yours was Jason Frame.

Mitch: They canít be serious. Come on, $400,000?

Rachel: Shh, shh, shh, shh.

Mac: Zack will take care of her, Mitch.

[Judge pounds gavel]

Zack: Your honor, Ms. Gallant is a nationally known celebrity. It will be very difficult for her to hide out. She also has no prior record. She has, in fact, been an upstanding member of this community. There's nothing in her background which would indicate that she would escape due process. In fact, Ms. Gallant is looking forward to clearing her name of these ridiculous charges. Now, Mr. Frame's death was a tragic accident, but Ms. Gallant was and is no threat to society. Under these circumstances, we feel that the assistant district attorney's request is unreasonable.

Judge: Ms. Graves?

Ms. Graves: The state agrees that Ms. Gallant is indeed a celebrity, with resources at hand to escape prosecution if she so desires.

Mitch: Come on. How can she just say stuff like that?

Rachel: Shh, shh, shh, shh.

Ms. Graves: Your honor, I have reviewed the evidence, and I strongly believe that the state has ample reason to assume that Ms. Gallant ended the life of Jason Frame with premeditation. Now, your honor, based on the severity of this crime, I stand by my original request for bail.

Judge: I'm going to grant bail, and in the amount of $250,000. Ms. Gallant, you are to appear before this court in April for your arraignment.

Zack: Thank you, your honor.

[Judge pounds gavel]

Judge: Next case.

Felicia: Mitch --

Mitch: Felicia --

Felicia: Honey --

Mitch: Look, it's going to be ok. We're going to get you out of here. You're not going to have to be in jail, ok?

Zack: Mitch, Felicia? Unless the bail is paid right now, Felicia may have to go back into custody.

Mitch: No, Zack.

Zack: Just until the bail is paid, Mitch.

Mitch: She's not going into jail, not for a minute.

Mac: Zack, the bail's going to be paid now. I can take care of it now.

Felicia: No, Mac, you canít.

Mac: Felicia, you're one of our dearest friends. This is only money, darling.

Felicia: It's so much money.

Iris: Felicia, you have all of Cory Publishing behind you.

Mitch: Ok, look, I will -- I will transfer some funds, and we will pay you back as soon as we can.

Mac: Whenever, Mitch.

Felicia: I don't want you in the middle of all of this.

Mac: Why not? Where else would I want to be when you're in trouble? We're going to get through this together, darling.

Felicia: Oh, Mac, thank you.

Zack: Mitch, Mac, I need to talk to you for a minute.

Mac: Ok.

Rachel: Oh, honey, I know what you're feeling.

Felicia: Yes, I think you probably do.

Rachel: It's all a terrible accident and it's out of control.

Felicia: I did kill him, Rachel. God knows I didnít mean to.

Rachel: I know, I know.

Felicia: I just wish I could make all of this go away.

Rachel: Of course you do. I know.

Felicia: I don't want Mac to pay the bail. I mean, you've had so many problems with the Frames. I don't want you to have any more.

Rachel: Honey, who else but Mac and I would know what you are going through? It's worth the chance.

Felicia: Oh, thank you, both of you.

Mac: It certainly is.

Felicia: Thank you.

Reporter: Mrs. Wheeler!

Second reporter: Can you tell us what's going on?

First reporter: Did Felicia call you to come and bail her out?

Iris: Ms. Gallant has asked for and received the full support of Cory Publishing. My father and I are behind her 100%. She did not murder Jason Frame.

Reporter: Is that the charge?

Iris: Yes, I believe that's what the district attorney said.

Reporter: Well, do you know the real story?

Iris: Well, you know, it's -- it's ironic because, I mean, it parallels Feliciaís latest book, "The Lady and the Laborer."

Reporter: Mrs. Cory, do you have a statement?

Rachel: Yes, this has all been a horrible accident. Felicia Gallant is a person, she's not a media event. And the Frames have been through enough, and I think it's in very bad taste for all of you to exploit this by turning it into a scandal.

Reporter: Who's exploiting whom, Mrs. Cory?

Rachel: What does that mean?

Reporter: Putting out Feliciaís new book the day after Frame died?

Rachel: What?

Reporter: If that's not exploitation, I don't know what is.

Rachel: Has Feliciaís book been released?

Iris: Well, it was due for publication. What else could we do?

Rachel: Act like a human being, Iris. I guess that's asking too much, isnít it? Tell Mac I'll be at home. Excuse me.

Felicia: I canít believe Mac is doing this.

Mitch: Why not? You'd do the same for him, wouldn't you?

Felicia: I know, but --

Mitch: This is going to be all over very soon. It's crazy, and they're going to figure it out sooner or later, and then they're going to drop the charges.

Felicia: Well, they don't seem too inclined to do that.

Mitch: But the point is you're free, and you're going to stay free. They don't have a case. I mean, what motive would you have for killing Jason?

Felicia: They think that it's because he knew something about Noah.

Mitch: You didnít say anything, did you?

Felicia: No, of course not.

Mitch: Ok, then the only thing we have to do is we find Noah, and then we find out the truth, and the D.A. knows the truth.

Felicia: You're very sweet.

Mitch: Look, it's the truth.

Felicia: I love you. I thought about you the whole time. You know, when I saw you sitting over here, I thought, you know, nothing really does matter, because I know how much I can count on you.

Mitch: Forever.

Felicia: Oh, Mitch.

Mac: Here are your things, Felicia. Bail's all paid, car's out front. Ready to go?

Felicia: Yes. Thank you.

Iris: I think we should go out the other door. The place is crawling with reporters.

Mac: How did they get wind of this?

Iris: Well, I'm afraid "Brava" made a very grave tactical error.

Mac: What was that?

Iris: Feliciaís book was released.

Mac: What?

Iris: Yes, I'm -- I'm sorry. I -- I guess it must've seemed -- seemed a brilliant idea at the time, you know -- to release the book early just to coincide with the article and your birthday celebrations. I -- I mean, who would've thought that --

Felicia: That the party would be so much like what happened in the book?

Iris: Yes.

Mitch: Look, you've already been hounded enough by reporters. Come on.

Iris: I don't understand. I mean, this is a work of fiction.

Mac: Felicia, I canít tell you how sorry I am.

Iris: The other door's over there.

Felicia: No. No, I -- I don't want the other door. I have to face the reporters sometime, don't I, so -- might as well be now. Why not? Will you give me just a minute?

Mac: Of course.

Mitch: I don't know how to thank you for everything that you've done.

Mac: Don't even think about it now. We still have a long, hard road ahead of us, you know.

Mitch: Tell me, do you -- do you really think that Cass is up to it?

Mac: I know he is. He feels as we all feel -- if it's for Felicia, there's nothing we wouldn't do.

P.A. Announcer: Midwest airlines flight 433 to Bay City has been delayed.

Nicole: Oh, great!

P.A. Announcer: Flight 433 should be boarding in approximately one hour.

Nicole: Cass, did you just hear that?

Cass: Yeah. The bad news just keeps on coming, doesn't it?

Nicole: What do you mean?

Cass: I just got a hold of Zack. Feliciaís been charged with murder.

Nicole: Murder?

Cass: I canít believe it. I just canít believe it. Where the hell was Stacey?

Nicole: They canít do this! Felicia couldn't murder anyone!

Cass: I know.

Nicole: Cass, we have to do something.

Cass: We will, and we can start by trying to figure out why Jason was trying to contact Noahís landlady.

Nicole: Yes, that must mean something.

Cass: Yeah, he calls, she disappears. What was Jason setting up?

Nicole: We have to find her.

Cass: If I have to call every retirement village in America, we'll find her.

Nicole: And did Zack say if the D.A. knows anything about Feliciaís stepfather?

Cass: Apparently, they're pushing blackmail as a motive. They found this ledger that Jason kept, and Feliciaís name is in it. They also found a Christmas card on him when he died, and it's "from Felicia, to Noah," and it's marked "return to sender."

Nicole: So if they find out that Felicia thinks she killed her stepfather --

Cass: Even if she didnít really kill him, you know, she just thinks she did --

Nicole: They'll think that she killed Jason just so he wouldn't find out the same thing.

Cass: And apparently, Jason was on to something. Otherwise, why would he have tried to contact Mrs. Kramer?

Nicole: Mrs. Kramer knew that Noah Grady's still alive.

Cass: Yeah, well, we hope.

Nicole: Oh. You have to find him, don't you?

Cass: Yeah.

Nicole: But even if you don't, you could get her off, couldn't you? She didnít mean to murder Jason.

Felicia: Ok, guys, let's do it.

[Reporters shout questions]

Reporter: Is it true about the book?

Second reporter: Tell the truth.

First reporter: Can you comment on the book?

Stacey: So, what do you know about Felicia?

Stacey: She could be in serious trouble.

Man: Yeah, I always read the newspaper. I know all about it.

Stacey: You do?

Man: I know a lot about Fanny. I know a lot more than people might guess.

Stacey: So -- so, who are you?

Man: You canít tell people about me.

Stacey: Why? Why not?

Man: You're a lawyer?

Stacey: Yeah.

Man: Really?

Stacey: Why? You don't believe me?

Man: I -- uh -- I didnít think that they were so pretty, now.

Stacey: Ok -- um -- if you have any information, I wish you would just tell me. You can trust me.

Man: Well, people have said that before. The only one that ever meant it was Fanny.

Stacey: So then you like her? I mean, you're on her side? How do you know Felicia?

Man: At the party.

Stacey: At her party?

Man: Yeah.

Stacey: You mean the night that Jason was killed?

Man: Yeah. The gun --

Stacey: You know about the gun?

Man: Yeah. The gun -- um --

Stacey: Well, what about it?

Man: You said you were alone.

Stacey: No, no, no, he's not with me. He's walking a beat! He's a policeman on a beat! Hey, listen, I wasn't lying! I was by myself! God. He didnít believe me.

Nicole: Where's Felicia now?

Cass: Well, she's out on bail. Mac posted it.

Nicole: What happens next?

Cass: Well, I try to find out what the D.A. has and get prepared for the arraignment. Luckily, I have until April.

Nicole: April?

Cass: Yeah, it does put a bit of a damper on our wedding plans, doesn't it?

Nicole: That's all right. This is much more important.

Cass: Maybe we could get married in court during a five-minute recess?

Nicole: No, you -- you just take care of Felicia. That's all that counts right now.

Cass: Hey, are you ok?

Nicole: I guess I was just thinking -- everything can change so suddenly. All the plans that you make, all your dreams -- and they can just vanish. Oh, Cass, we canít let that happen. We canít let that happen!

Cass: We wonít. I promise you, we wonít.

Nicole: Oh. Oh.

Cass: Oh, boy. I had no idea that all of this was affecting you so much.

Nicole: Oh, I didnít, either.

P.A. Announcer: Midwest airlines flight 433 is now ready for boarding through gate E7.

Cass: Finally.

Nicole: Really.

Cass: You get the coats, I'll get the bags? Ok?

Nicole: Yeah.

Cass: Listen, try not to worry, ok? We're going to have everything we always wanted, and Felicia will, too. I promise. Come on.

Mac: Well, it's not formal dining, but it'll serve.

Felicia: I didnít realize that I was so hungry. This is -- this is the best chicken salad I've ever had.

Mitch: Thank Hilda for doing this so late.

Rachel: Well, we would've done more, much more if we could.

Zack: I talked to Cass in Boston.

Felicia: You did? When?

Zack: Right before I came over here. I caught up with him at the airport. Their flight was delayed, but he and Nicole are coming back tonight.

Felicia: Any -- any word on Stacey?

Zack: Not a word.

Felicia: I hope she's all right.

Mitch: I hope Cass has some good news.

Iris: What's Cass doing in Boston?

Mac: Felicia, I've been thinking -- it might help you get through the next few weeks if you keep to your normal routine.

Felicia: I -- I don't see how I can, Mac. I mean, I was supposed to start the publicity for the new book, and the next installment on my life is due in -- in "Brava."

Mac: Well, I certainly didnít mean making personal appearances for the book.

Felicia: Oh, God, I wish I had never written that book.

Mac: What I'm trying to say, Felicia, is that Cory Publishing is on your side. If there's going to be bad publicity, let us help you fight it. Use the upcoming installments of the article to tell your side of the story.

Felicia: My side.

Mac: Let people know you have nothing to hide.

Felicia: You know, I'm -- I'm sorry, but I'm -- I'm feeling a little lightheaded right now.

Rachel: Mitch, why don't you try -- take her out on the terrace. Maybe she needs some air.

Felicia: I am so sorry.

Mac: No, I'm sorry. I shouldnít have started discussing things so soon. You've had a terrible day.

Felicia: No. No, it's not you. I'll be fine. I just need a little air, all right? Excuse me.

Mac: All right.

Felicia: Thank you.

Mitch: Felicia?

Iris: I feel so ghastly about the book.

Mac: I'm going to find out who's responsible for the early release.

Rachel: If you'll excuse me, I'm going to get Hilda to bring up some coffee.

Mac: All right. Oh, darling -- what happened? Why couldn't you come back from the courthouse with us?

Rachel: I had something to take care of.

Mac: Oh.

Rachel: I'll be right back.

Mac: All right.

Iris: Do you think this will go to trial, Zack?

Zack: Oh, I hope not. But then we didnít think she was going to be charged.

Mac: Felicia has never done a malicious thing in her life -- not to say anything illegal. How could they possibly charge her with murder?

Iris: Daddy, she did seem very frightened when you suggested that she write her side of the story. I hate to say this, but I -- I think she is hiding something -- not that I'd breathe a word to anyone.

Mac: You're letting your imagination run away from you, Iris. I've known Felicia for years. I've never, never met a more honest person.

Iris: Daddy, all of us have something that we don't want anyone to find out about.

Zack: Well, what do you think she's hiding, Iris?

Iris: Oh, I don't know. I just hope it's not a motive for killing Jason.

Rachel: "The sum of $10,000 should be paid to Jason Frame as a bonus."

Bonus? "Initialed by Iris Wheeler."

Iris' voice: We hired Frame Construction because they gave us an excellent price.

Rachel: "Excellent price." This is a payoff, Iris.
