Amanda: Mom, what is it? What happened?
Rachel: Liz happened.
Amanda: What's wrong?
Rachel: Liz has the darnedest way of finding things out.
Rachel: Liz was going through the insurance files for the new employees and she found a beneficiary.
Amanda: New employees?
Rachel: One in particular.
Amanda: You mean she found out about -- oh, no.
Rachel: Sam not only listed Mitch as his beneficiary but as his brother.
Amanda: We've got to find her before she tells dad.
Rachel: It's too late.
Amanda: You mean he already knows?
Rachel: He was very hurt.
Amanda: This is all my fault.
Rachel: I wish he had found out from me.
Amanda: I did this.
Rachel: Honey, you didn't plan to fall in love with Sam.
Amanda: Does dad know my part in all this?
Rachel: He thinks Sam is lying to you.
Amanda: I've got to find dad. No. No, wait. I've got to find Sam. And then I'll tell him everything, and then I'll find dad.
Rachel: Honey, it is too late.
Rachel: Mac has left already.
Amanda: To go where?
Rachel: To find Sam.
Adam: No, no, you don't understand. They're more than just identical twins. Rex Allingham has been successfully impersonating Cass Winthrop for over three months. Right, that's -- yes, that's what I've been trying to tell you. Your guys wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between them even if they found them. No. Wait a minute, no. I want to make myself very clear on this. No one is to fire unless fired on first. Is that clear? Cass Winthrop may be on the run, but he's an innocent man.
Cass: I can't get this stupid car started. This is getting embarrassing.
Nicole: Why don't you just go to the police?
Cass: Because Rex would be long gone by then.
Nicole: Where do you think he is?
Cass: Maybe he's at that inn that you mentioned.
Nicole: The Indian Creek?
Cass: Yeah. He's not likely to be spotted there and he could keep an eye on things.
Nicole: Well, I can show you where it is.
Nicole: Hey, I --
Cass: Tell me where it is, and then I'll take you to the police station.
Nicole: No, I said I am going with you.
Cass: And I said you're not --
Cass: Come on, let's get out of here.
Officer: Hold it right there! Freeze!
Nicole: Wait! He's not who you think he is!
Cass: I'm the real Cass Winthrop.
Officer: Yeah, you could be, or you could be Rex Allingham.
Nicole: No, he's not.
Officer: Whoever you are, don't move. You're under arrest for the murder of Monique Barejacques. Let me see your hands on the hood of the car.
Cass: Oh --
Nicole: No, you've got to believe him!
Officer: Look, lady, I've got my orders. Anyone that fits this description I'm supposed to bring in for questioning.
Cass: Yeah, well, don't you understand the real murderer's getting away in the meantime?
Officer: We're going to wait right here for the backup.
Nicole: Oh, he's over there!
Officer: One more fast move and you're history, buddy.
Nicole: He's over there!
Officer: I'll use this if I have to!
Cass: Use it on him! He's right there!
Nicole: Oh, just go over there and see for yourself! The man that you're after is Rex Allingham!
Cass: I'll go.
Officer: I mean it!
Nicole: No, don't shoot! He's an innocent man!
Officer: Back off, lady.
Nicole: No, not until you put that gun down.
Cass: Nicole, you don't tell a cop to put his gun down.
Nicole: You could be killed.
Cass: Oh, there he goes!
Officer: Any move!
Nicole: Oh! You've shot the wrong man!
Cass: Come on, I got to get him!
Second officer: Orders are don't shoot!
Third officer: They don't want him hurt!
First officer: Who'd that come from?
Cass: Since they found out I was innocent, you idiot! You just let the real murderer get away!
Nicole: That's what we've been trying to tell you!
Officer: Get them both in the car.
Cass: He's on foot. You can still get him.
Officer: Move it!
Cass: Come on! What, are you crazy?
Officer: You're on my nerves, buddy!
Cass: The murderer's getting away right now as we speak! And to help you out, he's got the same exact face that I've got! Now, get him or he's going to be halfway to Chicago! At least one of you go after him!
Felicia: Well, I think we've said everything we had to say down at the police station.
Mitch: Why? Why are you so angry at me?
Felicia: Oh, I'm supposed to be happy that you went behind my back?
Mitch: I asked you to come to the police station with me.
Felicia: And I said no!
Lisa: What happened?
Felicia: Cass happens to be my friend! When are you going to believe that?
Lisa: What did the police say?
Wally: Felicia, Mitch is only concerned about your safety now.
Mitch: You're dealing with a killer.
Felicia: Mitch --
Lisa: Did they find Cass?
Felicia: No, not yet, but at least they realize that he's innocent.
Felicia: Exactly. The guy we thought was Cass all this time is really a guy by the name of Rex Allingham.
Lisa: What? Did you have any idea?
Felicia: No, I should've known. I should've known he was a phony when I saw him with that cigarette.
Wally: Hey, you didn't tell me about that.
Felicia: Oh, it was before the fashion show. It was out on the balcony.
Wally: Felicia, Cass doesn't smoke.
Felicia: Exactly, but obviously this Rex guy does.
Mitch: Maybe, maybe not. You're dealing with circumstantial evidence.
Felicia: What's the matter with you? What do you need, a videotaped confession?
Lisa: Well, what about Nicole? Is she all right?
Felicia: Cass has her. They're hiding someplace. I just hope they're safe.
Wally: Yeah, there's no telling what this Rex character might do.
Felicia: I know.
Lisa: Hi, Mac.
Felicia: Mac, it's a little early. I mean, you're not here for dinner, are you?
Mac: Don't worry about me. I'm not here to eat.
Felicia: Well, are you looking for Rachel?
Mac: Sam Fowler.
Mitch: Let me deal with this. Is there a problem at the office?
Mac: Nothing I can't take care of once I speak to your brother.
Mitch: So you know now?
Mac: Yes, I know.
Mitch: Well, you know, I think this has all been blown out of proportion.
Mac: I've been lied to by you, by my wife, and by your brother. I think it's in proportion.
Mitch: But it's just --
Mac: Please tell Sam I want to speak to him.
Sam: Mr. Cory.
Mac: Mr. Fowler, I'd like to see you in my office in 20 minutes.
Sam: Is this about the "Brava" cover?
Mac: Just be there.
Sam: What's with him?
Mitch: He knows.
Sam: He knows that you and I are brothers?
Mitch: He also knows that Rachel has been hiding it from him.
Sam: Oh, great.
Mitch: Where are you going?
Sam: I've got to go back to the office. You heard him.
Mitch: Ok, just a minute, just a minute. Just give him 20 minutes, give him some time to cool out.
Sam: I don't think there is that much time.
Mitch: I'll meet you there.
Mitch: Because you might need some help.
Sam: Thanks, bro.
Felicia: Did Mac see Sam?
Mitch: Yeah. They're going to have a meeting in his office in 20 minutes.
Felicia: Mac seemed a little upset. Is everything all right?
Mitch: Well, I'll let you know after their meeting.
Felicia: So you're going?
Mitch: Unless there's some reason for me to be here.
Felicia: No, I don't think so. I think you've done enough already.
Mitch: I think so.
Felicia: You don't have to stick around on my account, believe me.
Mitch: There's a killer out there. Will you be careful?
Felicia: And the killer is not Cass Winthrop.
Mitch: He had you thinking otherwise for the past few months. Will you just be careful?
Felicia: I don't have to be careful when it comes to Cass.
Felicia: Don't sneak up on me like that. I don't like it.
Wally: I've been standing here all along.
Mitch: Look, if you need me, if you need me for anything, I'll be at "Brava."
Wally: Felicia, don't be so hard on him. He loves you.
Felicia: I just wish he wouldn't try and run my life for me.
Wally: Well, somebody's got to do it.
Felicia: Whose side are you on, Wally?
Wally: Are you kidding?
Felicia: If he knows me, he knows he has to love my friends. I mean, Mitch ought to know that by now.
Jamie: Now, are you saying that this Rex Allingham looks -- looks just like Cass Winthrop?
Adam: Until somebody tells me different, these two are exact carbon copies.
Jamie: That's kind of hard to believe, Adam, even with plastic surgery.
Adam: Yeah, well, they fooled Felicia and Wallingford for the last couple of months.
Jamie: Well, not to mention me. It's just hard to believe, that's all.
Adam: Trust me, trust me on this one. I got an eyewitness who can prove that there are two of them. Val, has anybody radioed in?
Val: Nobody. If you asked me, it's too quiet.
Adam: Allingham's out there someplace, and I know that he knows he doesn't have much time.
Jamie: Do you think he's found out?
Adam: What, that we know about his connection to Cass? I'm counting on it.
Jamie: So all we have to do now is find Cass and Nicole.
Adam: Before Rex does.
Adam: Val, I want you to issue an intercept. Bring in all off-duty personnel, and get the harbor patrol on the phone, too.
Jamie: The harbor patrol?
Adam: Yeah, I want to cover our backs. This guy is ruthless, Jamie.
Adam: He'll kill anybody who gets in his way. Detectives' office, Cory speaking. Yeah, Frank, listen, I want all the men on transistors. Yeah, and code them in to me. Yeah, all right.
Zack: Is it true about Cass? The rumors are flying all over the courthouse.
Adam: Did you just hear it?
Zack: No wonder that guy wasn't any good as a lawyer. He wasn't a lawyer at all.
Jamie: Yeah, he was able to fake it for three months. Makes you kind of lose faith in the legal profession.
Adam: Cory speaking.
Vicky: Adam, this is Vicky, Vicky Hudson.
Vicky: I'm really worried about aunt Nicole. Have you heard anything, any news or anything?
Adam: Well, actually, we're hoping to hear something any second now.
Vicky: Is she going to be all right?
Val: Nicole Love and Cass Winthrop have just been found.
Adam: Vicky, did you hear that?
Vicky: She's been found?
Adam: Yeah. Listen, why don't you come down here and wait?
Vicky: Come to the station?
Adam: Yeah, Nicole's going to be brought down here and, well, you know, she'd probably like to see a familiar face.
Vicky: Yeah, well, I'm on my way.
Adam: She's coming down.
Jamie: It's really nice of you, Adam, to be so concerned about Nicole's feelings.
Adam: Ahem. Val, get on the phone, see if you can find Donna Love, will you?
Adam: Do you know where Lisa is?
Jamie: Sure. At home. Why?
Adam: Tell her to put on her dancing shoes.
Jamie: Dancing shoes?
Adam: Well, Vicky's coming down here. Might as well make a foursome out of it.
Jamie: What, are you serious? You want to go dancing tonight?
Adam: Cousin, I tell you, you know, that's your problem -- you work too hard.
Amanda: Sam isn't at the loft and he's not at Mary's place.
Rachel: Have you tried Tops?
Amanda: I've got to find him before dad does.
Rachel: Honey, you should've told him much before this.
Amanda: I tried. Dad didn't give you any idea of where he was going?
Rachel: He just said he was going to find Sam.
Amanda: Why is this happening?
Rachel: Too many secrets.
Amanda: I guess we really messed things up this time, huh?
Rachel: One way or another, Mac is going to straighten them out.
Amanda: What do you think he's going to do?
Rachel: Tell Sam off and then probably fire him.
Amanda: That isn't fair! Sam's worked so hard on this cover design.
Rachel: Honey, you don't have to worry about Sam. He's very talented. He'll find another job.
Amanda: That's not the point! He's building a future here at "Brava." Who cares whose brother he is.
Rachel: I told you how Mac feels about Mitch.
Amanda: And he still comes between you and dad?
Rachel: Mac is right. I wasn't lying just about any employee. It was Mitch's brother. I guess I felt it was necessary.
Amanda: Well, only because you knew how dad would react.
Rachel: It was a split-second decision, and then I didn't know how to get out of it.
Amanda: Maybe it wasn't because of Mitch. Maybe you recognized Sam's talent.
Rachel: That's what I kept telling myself. Michelle? Yeah, have you heard from Mac? He did? He is? No. No, I'm going to wait here for him. Yeah, no, you can go home now. Right, fine. See you tomorrow.
Amanda: Dad's coming here?
Rachel: He's canceled his dinner meeting tonight.
Amanda: You think he found Sam?
Rachel: I don't know. We're just going to have to wait and see.
Amanda: I will not let this happen.
Rachel: Honey, for once, I think there's nothing you and I can do about it.
Jamie: Adam. Are you serious about wanting to go dancing tonight?
Adam: Sure. You and Colette want to come?
Zack: Uh, sorry, but we've made other plans.
Adam: It's too bad. This could be a night to remember.
Jamie: I just love it when you get cryptic, Adam.
Adam: You just keep Lisa and Vicky close by you. I may be a little late, but I tell you what, I'll meet you at the powerhouse.
Jamie: Wait a minute. That's why you want to go dancing tonight. The powerhouse is down by the docks.
Adam: Jamie, I promise you, nobody's going to be in danger. I got my men all over the area.
Jamie: But why the docks? Why not the airport or the train station?
Adam: Well, because I don't like dancing at the airport. It draws too much attention.
Jamie: Well, isn't that what you're hoping to do at the powerhouse?
Adam: Listen, if Rex is watching me, I'm just a guy out on a date, that's all.
Jamie: You really think he's watching you?
Adam: The guy's a genius, Jamie. He's fooled everybody for months now. He wants to know exactly what the police are doing, and I want him to think the police are doing nothing.
Jamie: Do you think he's in on this alone?
Adam: Well, that's what I need to find out. For all I know, he could have 20 accomplices.
Jamie: So the cat-and-mouse game begins.
Adam: Except the mice are very well-protected.
Officer: Just stand back, stand back.
Cass: I've got nothing to say.
Officer: Ok, ok. We caught these two trying to hot-wire a car over on Euclid Avenue.
Cass: Adam, it's really me, Cass.
Jamie: Are you all right?
Nicole: Oh, I could write a book. I just don't think anybody would believe me.
Adam: What were you doing in that car?
Cass: Trying to make it go after Rex Allingham. Look, would you tell these two clowns to stop playing tough guy?
Adam: First, I want to find out you are who you say you are.
Nicole: Adam, this is the real Cass Winthrop. I know it is.
Adam: Prove it.
Rachel: Michelle said that you had canceled your evening appointment.
Mac: Yes, I'll need my office, please.
Amanda: Dad, I'm so sorry about everything.
Mac: I guess your mother filled you in.
Amanda: I -- I already knew.
Mac: You, too, eh? Well, there's nothing more to say.
Amanda: No, you're wrong. Sam never meant --
Mac: Outside, Amanda -- now.
Amanda: All right.
Rachel: Do you want me to leave, too?
Mac: This is between Sam and me.
Rachel: I'm a part of this, Mac.
Mac: You don't have to remind me of that.
Rachel: Mac, you've got to believe me, I didn't do this to hurt you.
Mac: Well, that doesn't do either one of us a lot of good now, does it?
Sam: Mrs. Cory. What are you doing here?
Rachel: Well, I guess we all have some explaining to do. Did he ask you to be here, too, Mitch?
Mac: Sam? You can wait here, Mitch.
Mitch: This concerns me, Rachel.
Rachel: No. Right now, it concerns Sam and Mac. (Applause and cheer )
Jamie: Coming through, coming through! Back off! Nicole's in here. Back off!
Vicky: Oh. Are you all right?
Nicole: I've really put everyone through a lot, haven't I?
Vicky: No, would you not worry about us? Look, I talked to Michael and Donna, and they're concerned and they'll be over here.
Vicky: I'm so glad you're ok. Did he hurt you?
Nicole: Oh, no, honey. No, there was another man. It wasn't Cass.
Cass: Vicky, I'm Cass.
Adam: That's yet to be proven.
Nicole: No, I can prove it. I saw Rex and Cass in the same room together.
Cass: He found us at the apartment.
Adam: What apartment?
Cass: The one where he held me prisoner.
Nicole: Yeah, he even called Cass by name.
Cass: Adam, we're telling you the truth. I swear it on Kathleen's soul.
Adam: Take his cuffs off.
Nicole: Vicky --
Jamie: Listen, I have to call Lisa. But first I have to know if you'll help Adam tonight.
Vicky: Help him? Help him how?
Jamie: We're all going dancing at the powerhouse.
Vicky: Dancing tonight?
Jamie: Yeah, Adam promised that no one will be in any danger.
Vicky: Danger? Danger from who? From this Rex male or something?
Jamie: It's better that you don't ask too many questions.
Vicky: Jamie, better for who?
Jamie: For everybody. It's too complicated as it is. Now, do we have a date?
Vicky: You and Lisa are both going to be there?
Jamie: All night long. Trust me on this one.
Vicky: I do trust you.
Wally: Felicia, there he is!
Felicia: Cass? Cass? Please, let me in. Cass!
Adam: No, I'm sorry, you're going to have to wait outside! Wally, you, too!
Cass: Come on, Adam! I haven't seen these guys in almost a year!
Adam: I know that and you know that, but I got a lot of questions to ask of you. Now, come on, clear out!
Felicia: Adam, you're never going to get another free meal at Tops, I can tell you that. All right, I'm going!
Cass: Will you wait for me?
Felicia: I will, I will.
Adam: Come on, come on, everybody out.
Cass: Hey. Thank you for telling Adam.
Nicole: Sure. I guess it's all over now.
Adam: Listen, nobody talks to the press right now.
Cass: You know what they say -- not till the fat lady sings.
Adam: Clear the hall. Come on, let's go, clear the hall.
Sam: So, now you know Mitch is my brother.
Mac: And that both of you enlisted my wife as your confederate in this deception.
Sam: Would you have fired me?
Mac: What did you hope to accomplish by lying to me?
Sam: I wanted to work at "Brava."
Mac: Well, you certainly had everyone conspiring to get you the job.
Sam: I never wanted that.
Mac: But you went along with them. Didn't you? Couldn't you let your talent speak for itself?
Sam: Look, I didn't like presenting myself as someone else.
Mac: Why did you?
Sam: Because of you. Everyone felt that you were the one they had to protect.
Sam: Yes, because of what happened between my brother and your wife.
Mac: I see. So you didn't feel that I would understand you or your work if you let me know who you were?
Sam: I thought you'd be acting just like you're acting now.
Mac: I'm reacting now to being lied to. Well, certainly, nobody had much faith in me, did they?
Sam: Look, all I wanted at "Brava" was a chance.
Mac: Even if you had to lie to get it?
Sam: Yes. To give myself some time.
Mac: Time for what?
Sam: Time to prove to everyone here that I can do this. And I have done just that.
Mac: By wasting most of my advertising budget on your artistic grandstanding.
Sam: Grandstanding that was supported by your readers. Look, both you and I know that I had to make myself known here.
Mac: At any cost?
Sam: Yes. Sometimes you have to take that chance.
Mac: And sometimes you lose.
Sam: At least I got my foot in the door. No matter how hard you try to shut that, you can't take that away from me.
Mac: You always have that chip on your shoulder, don't you?
Sam: Maybe. You don't know what it's like to be out of work.
Mac: No, I don't.
Sam: Well, I do. Rich guys like you make a career out of ignoring guys like me.
Mac: But you haven't been ignored around here, have you? I'm not finished yet.
Rachel: This affects us all, Mac.
Rachel: I belong here.
Mitch: So do I.
Adam: I'm sorry, you're going to have to wait outside, too. Nicole? Come on, you, too. Come on, now, let's go. Come on.
Nicole: I'll be out here.
Adam: You take care of yourself.
Nicole: I will.
Reporter: Will you be arraigning Mr. Winthrop?
Officer: Move it back down the hall, please.
Felicia: Adam, I am not going to forget this. I'm not.
Officer: Move it back. Come on, everybody back. All the way back.
Cass: All right, what's up?
Adam: I have a little plan for you.
Cass: Well, that's funny, because I was just about to say exactly the same thing to you.
Adam: You have a plan?
Cass: Tell me yours first.
Adam: And last.
Cass: Oh, I love it when you cops talk cute.
Adam: I want you to go back to your hotel suite and I want you to stay put.
Cass: That's Rex Allingham's hotel suite. I'll have to get the key from him.
Adam: It's a job for the police, Cass.
Cass: Adam --
Adam: I mean it! Look, you're just going to get in the way, I'm telling you.
Cass: You just found out about this guy. I've known him for months. I've studied him as much as he's studied me.
Adam: He studied this, too.
Cass: This is Kathleen's journal.
Adam: That's how Rex learned all about you and your friends -- Kathleen, Felicia, Wallingford, everybody.
Cass: Where did you find this?
Adam: It was in a safe-deposit box, along with some other things.
Cass: What other things?
Adam: Escape plans. There was a map to the city, some information about boat charters. We think he's headed for the docks.
Cass: This guy really thought he could get away with this, didn't he?
Adam: He almost did.
Cass: So we stake out the docks tonight.
Adam: What's this "we" business?
Cass: You're going to let me help you.
Adam: You can help me. You can help me by staying put. I need to know exactly where you are. Cass, I'm dealing with somebody who is your identical double.
Cass: So I'll grow a mustache.
Adam: No, this is easier. Here, take this.
Cass: Does this mean we're going steady?
Adam: I'll have my men look out for a ring and a smart mouth.
Cass: How many men do you have working on this?
Adam: Every available man. The problem is I don't know how many men Rex has got.
Cass: It's inconceivable that he could've pulled all this off by himself.
Adam: That's why I need you off the streets.
Cass: So this is it? This is your hot little plan? You're going to wait for him down by the docks?
Adam: You got a better idea?
Cass: As a matter of fact, I do.
Adam: And just what might that be?
Cass: To be part of yours.
Adam: Do I have to put you under arrest?
Felicia: What do you suppose they want with him in there, anyway?
Wally: Felicia, we'll find out soon enough.
Felicia: And Adam. Do you believe him? I mean, how dare he throw us out, like we're some kind of traitors.
Nicole: Cass is as anxious to see you as you are to see him.
Felicia: Honey, did you get a chance to talk to Cass when the two of you were --
Nicole: All we did was talk.
Wally: Well, is he ok?
Nicole: I think so.
Felicia: Nicole, what about you? You all right?
Nicole: Oh. I have to tell you, it has been an incredible two days.
Wally: Well, I'll say.
Nicole: Yeah, but I understand things now. Cass explained everything to me.
Wally: You know, can you really believe that all of us thought that this Rex guy was really Cass?
Nicole: No, I can't, and there is such a difference, isn't there?
Felicia: Yeah. You know, this is really making me crazy. I mean, I don't understand why we're sitting out here. What are they doing with him in there? You know that they believe he's innocent, don't they?
Nicole: I know, I know, but I suppose they want to know what Cass knows about Rex.
Felicia: Rex. Rex. What do you suppose the guy wanted, anyway?
Nicole: I don't know. I think Cass should probably give you all the details.
Felicia: Well, he's been through a lot, hasn't he?
Wally: Well, so has Nicole.
Felicia: Well, I know.
Wally: You must have been -- shut up -- you must have been scared to death when he carried you off on that motorcycle like that.
Nicole: Oh. Oh, Wally, I was. But I was ok when I finally figured out that I was with Cass. Boy, it took a long time, though. He really had to convince me.
Felicia: What did he say?
Nicole: Well, I think it was the little things that really made me believe that it was Cass. I mean, I never knew him like you two did, you know?
Nicole: And, uh, I hate to tell you, but I was pretty taken in by Rex, you know?
Wally: Well, Nicole, don't put yourself down.
Wally: I mean, this Rex did a terrific job.
Felicia: He did, a terrific job.
Nicole: Yeah, he did. Boy, he sure learned how to be glib and charming, that's for sure. But, you know, with Cass, there's -- there's something real, well, charming about him. I mean, he's -- he's so different, he's so warm. I don't know, I -- Rex could never, never, never duplicate that.
Wally: Uh-huh. That must have been a heck of a talk you two had.
Nicole: He -- he needed somebody on his side, you know? Oh, until he could get to you two, of course. You're his friends.
Felicia: Well, Wally, I'm glad that's over. At least Cass is out of it.
Wally: Well, Rex is still out there somewhere.
Felicia: Well, I know, but Adam can take care of that if he'd stop interrogating the guy, for heaven's sake.
Felicia: What? Don't "Felicia" me. I hate that. I get enough of that from Mitch.
Nicole: Oh, wait a minute. Are you having problems with Mitch?
Felicia: Nothing that I can't clear up. I mean, Mitch just has to learn that I'm the kind of person that doesn't leave their friends in the lurch.
Wally: Well, yeah, and Cass was definitely in the lurch category, mm-hmm.
Felicia: Well, not anymore. We're going to take care of him, aren't we?
Wally: Mm-hmm, right.
Nicole: If you can.
Felicia: What does that mean?
Wally: Uh-oh. Is that why Adam still has him in there? Is Cass up to something?
Nicole: Oh, I am sure that he's not. He's just probably too tired, you know?
Felicia: What, did he say something to you? He did, didn't he?
Nicole: No, no, he didn't.
Wally: Wait, wait, wait. Are you sure?
Felicia: I mean, you're really sure? Nothing at all?
Nicole: Oh, look, you guys know him better than I do.
Felicia: Yeah, well, you spent the last two days with him. I mean, he might've said something. Did he?
Nicole: I really have to go try to find Vicky.
Felicia: Nicole? Nicole?
Nicole: No, she has probably been worried to death about me.
Wally: You think he's up to something?
Felicia: We'll find out, won't we?
Scott: Chad? Have you seen your sister? I was supposed to meet her here.
Chad: Yeah, I know.
Scott: Did she tell you that?
Chad: Well, let's just say I have overheard a lot of things lately.
Scott: That sounds ominous.
Chad: I think you know what I'm talking about.
Scott: Have you been following me around?
Chad: Should I have been?
Scott: Chad, I am not your enemy.
Chad: Well, why don't you tell me what you've been doing and let me decide about that.
Scott: Fine, I've been down to the hall of records, then I went to the police department.
Chad: You had no right.
Scott: Dawn wanted me to find out some information about her father.
Chad: Yeah, and you got a little more than you bargained for in the process.
Scott: Yes, I did, about your mother, right.
Chad: I never realized she was a resident of Bay City, too.
Scott: She was a prostitute, wasn't she?
Chad: Welcome to the family.
Scott: I never meant to hurt anybody.
Chad: Oh, it's a little late for that, don't you think?
Scott: Listen, where are you going?
Chad: Let's just say I don't feel like being around while you break my sister's heart, ok?
Scott: You don't understand, do you?
Chad: What, you can't accept that my mother was a prostitute? It's been the story of my life.
Scott: It doesn't matter who your mother was. I'm in love with Dawn.
Chad: Yeah, for how long?
Scott: For as long as she'll have me, all right?
Chad: And what's going to happen once you tell her about her mother?
Scott: There's nothing to tell.
Chad: What do you mean?
Scott: We both love her. You've kept this from her for a long time. Why would I have any reason to tell her now?
Chad: I'm sure you'll find a reason.
Scott: I can't help the fact that you were hurt somewhere along the way, but I'm not going to let this chip on your shoulder come between Dawn and myself, do you understand that?
Chad: Even if it means lying to her?
Scott: Lying over love is not the same as lying. You've done your share. Let me do mine.
Rachel: There's no use blaming Sam about the cover-up. It wasn't his idea.
Mac: Are you saying it was yours?
Rachel: May have been.
Mac: "May have been"?
Rachel: All right, it was my idea.
Mitch: That's not true. When you first hired Sam, you didn't know that he was my brother.
Rachel: I found out.
Mitch: And you didn't want to go along with it. I convinced her, Mac.
Mac: That hardly makes it more acceptable.
Rachel: Mac's right. I knew all along. That's what counts.
Sam: Look, who cares who knew what? Why don't you just fire me and get this over with?
Mitch: Is that what your decision's going to be?
Mac: Do you have any objections?
Mitch: Well, it's just that it's not fair, and I think you know it.
Mac: You're talking about what's fair?
Mitch: If there's a problem, fire me. It happens to be that Sam is the best thing that's happened to this magazine.
Mac: I'm well aware of the condition of my magazine.
Mitch: The fact is if he were anyone else's brother, he would be in line for a promotion.
Sam: Mitch, it's ok, man.
Mitch: No, no, it's not. As a matter of fact, this is between you and me, isn't it?
Sam: Mitch, this is not about your job.
Mitch: No, it's not about my job. It happens to be about my life. It's about time I had some say in it. Sam, Rachel?
Sam: No. No way.
Mac: Mitch is right. This is actually between me and him.
Rachel: This involves our whole family, Mac. I think you know what I mean.
Mac: I'm going to clear the air around here once and for all.
Rachel: I hope you know what you're doing. I'll be home.
Sam: Mitch --
Mitch: 10 minutes.
Sam: All right. I'll be outside.
Adam: Look, Cass, don't you want to see Felicia and Wallingford?
Cass: I'm not going to be put off, Adam.
Adam: And I'm involved in a manhunt for a murderer.
Cass: And I'm a little more than just an interested bystander.
Adam: That's right, you're a bystander who could ruin everything.
Cass: How? I don't know what you've got in mind.
Adam: All right. You want to know? You know John Hudson?
Cass: Is he any relation to Michael?
Adam: His brother.
Cass: Well, no, I don't know him.
Adam: Well, he's a good guy and he's one of ours.
Cass: But he's not a cop.
Adam: Well, we've tarnished his reputation a little bit lately. He's becoming a little more acceptable to the people on the streets, some of the people down at the docks.
Cass: Lucky guy.
Adam: He lives down there on a boat. Word has it that his boat is for-hire.
Cass: And you're using John as bait.
Adam: That's why one of you is more than enough.
Cass: This is provided, of course, that you're right that Rex wants to get out of town.
Adam: Cass, this is the best plan that we've got right now, and I expect you to follow it. Is that understood?
Cass: Yeah, that's understood.
Adam: Then you'll stay out of my way?
Adam: I hope you mean that.
Cass: What choice do I have?
Adam: Look, Cass, you've been through a lot. Why don't you just let my men handle it from here on out?
Cass: Happy hunting.
Adam: I'll get him, I promise you.
Nicole: I haven't really thanked you.
Cass: For what?
Nicole: For saving my life.
Cass: Oh, well, call us even.
Cass: Yeah, you saved my life, too. I haven't really thanked you for the pleasure of your company. Well, I'd better get going.
Nicole: Wait, aren't you going to wait for Wally and Felicia?
Cass: I just meant that maybe I should find them.
Nicole: There's something you're not telling me, isn't there?
Cass: Well, ask me in a few days. Maybe I'll have an answer for you.
Nicole: A few --
Felicia: Come here, you big jerk. Oh, Cass.
Wally: Welcome home, Cass, Cass!
Cass: Oh, I missed you guys so much.
Felicia: I wish we could say the same thing. I really do.
Wally: Yeah, I can't believe how that worm weaseled his way into our lives.
Cass: You actually bought this guy's act?
Felicia: Well, not really. Listen, you must be exhausted. Are you?
Cass: Oh, all I can think about is a hot bath and a good bed.
Wally: Well, come with us. I know where you can get both.
Cass: Well, that sounds good to me. Listen, I'll meet you at Tops. I'll get a cab.
Felicia: No, don't be silly. Come in our car.
Cass: No. No, it's better this way. Adam doesn't want us to be seen together.
Felicia: Adam doesn't? Why? Why not?
Cass: Well, he's concerned about your safety, and frankly, so am I.
Wally: What about your safety?
Cass: Oh, are you kidding? I'm going to be surrounded by cops. In fact, I'm going to leave express orders to shoot on sight anybody that tries to wake me up before noon. I'll see you later.
Wally: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Felicia and Wally: He's up to something.
Singer: Well, come on let's go, let's go, let's go, let's start it tell me that you didn't mean it come on, come on, let's go
Man: Everything seems to be quiet, sir.
Adam: All right. All right, listen, I want you to put the word out. Tell anybody connected with the operation that I'm here.
Man: You like places like this?
Adam: Tonight I do. Tonight I'm just a guy out on a date who's going to have a real good time.
Man: Well, that's understandable. With all due respect, sergeant --
Adam: You just keep your eye out for Rex Allingham and his pals -- if he has any.
Jamie: Well, it's about time you showed up.
Adam: Did I miss any dances?
Vicky: Yeah, but I don't think your luck's going to hold out.
Adam: Don't tell me you and I are actually going to get out on that dance floor together, though?
Vicky: Oh, I don't know. It's such a crazy world. So many different things could happen.
Jamie: Adam, who's that guy you were talking to on your way in here?
Adam: Jamie, you'd better not mention him.
Jamie: Well, is it better if I don't tell you that he's waving the phone in your direction?
Adam: Ahem. He's a little new at this. You'll have to excuse me. Just a minute.
Vicky: Well, was it something I said?
Lisa: Hey, do you want to go to the powder room with me?
Vicky: Oh, no, thanks. I think I'll try my luck out here.
Lisa: All right. Why don't you two warm up while I'm gone?
Jamie: Ahem. What do you say? Would you like to dance?
Vicky: Oh, Jamie, we don't have to do that.
Jamie: Oh, sure we do. We're undercover, remember?
Vicky: Oh. Well, in that case, I'll do anything.
Jamie: I don't think you have to worry at all.
Vicky: You know, I guess you really can dance.
Jamie: Yeah. You're not so bad yourself.
Vicky: Yeah, who'd have ever thought.
Jamie: Thought what?
Vicky: That we'd be so good together.
What is the taste
of a perfect morning?
Mitch: I admit that what I did was a mistake, but there's no reason to fire Sam. If you like, I'll give you my resignation.
Mitch: I thought I told you to stick outside.
Sam: You said 10 minutes. Your time's up.
Mitch: It'll be a bit longer.
Sam: Mitch, you've made yourself a life here. You've got Felicia, you've got Matthew.
Mitch: There are other jobs. They'll understand. Do you?
Sam: They should not have to. I'm the one who screwed up. I'm the one who should go.
Mac: You'd do that for Mitch?
Sam: He's my brother.
Mac: Yeah, I wish you'd told me.
Sam: Look, that doesn't matter now. Do you want to fire me or do you want me to resign?
Mac: Will you stop making my decisions for me?
Sam: But that's what this is all about, isn't it?
Mac: No, what this is all about is I very much resent the three of you acting like I couldn't keep my personal feelings out of my business decisions.
Mitch: We were wrong.
Mitch: Sam, we were wrong.
Mac: Only a narrow-minded bigot would hold blood relationship against a talented employee.
Sam: That's true.
Mac: Only thing I've ever resented about you is your arrogant attitude.
Mitch: Now that everything is out in the open, does he stay?
Mac: Do you think you can be part of a corporate team?
Sam: I can try.
Mac: And if I keep my feelings away from the office, I expect you to do the same.
Sam: Yes, sir.
Mac: That includes my daughter.
Mac: I want you to stay away from my daughter.
Sam: You want it, you got it.
Mitch: What are you saying?
Mac: You don't know?
Sam: Why don't you fill me in? Who is your daughter?
Dawn: So what'd you find out?
Scott: These things take a lot of time.
Dawn: Yeah, but surely you must have found my birth certificate, right? I mean, didn't it say anything about my father there?
Scott: Yeah, but to find your birth certificate, I'd have to know the name of the hospital where you were born.
Dawn: But Chad must know that.
Scott: He can't remember.
Dawn: What, you already talked to Chad about this?
Scott: Yeah, it seems like he went through the same searches I did a long time ago and he never came up with anything, either.
Dawn: He never told me that.
Scott: Because he didn't want to hurt you. Dawn, look, I know exactly what this is like. I've been through it before.
Dawn: Been through what before?
Scott: Running into dead ends.
Dawn: You know, it just seems so unfair.
Scott: We know who we are, right? We have each other. That's what's important.
Dawn: Well, being with you and thinking about the future just makes me want to know my past.
Scott: You might have to face the fact that there just aren't any answers.
Dawn: You know what, I think I could face anything.
Scott: That's the spirit. Come on, let's dance.
Jamie: Hey, hey!
Scott: What is this?
Jamie: Oh, that's what I call good timing.
Scott: Well, we don't need music, ok?
Dawn: Actually, it's probably better because all of a sudden, I'm feeling kind of tired.
Scott: You all right?
Jamie: Are you all right?
Dawn: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. I'm sure I just need some club soda or something like that.
Scott: Come on, I'll get you to the table. Let's go.
Vicky: Jamie, she looks kind of pale.
Jamie: Oh, hope it's not the flu.
[Romantic music plays]
Lisa: Can I cut in here?
Jamie: Oh, your timing's great, too.
Adam: All right. Looks like we're all set. Tonight, we get our man.
[Knock on door]
Jack: My, my, my. This is quite a little command post you have here.
Jack: And all about the Cambias murder. What a surprise.
Aidan: My investigation's a little bit different from the Pine Valley Police Department's.
Jack: Yes, I'm sure it is, since you don't consider Kendall a viable suspect. So what are you trying to do, dump the suspicion on somebody else?
