Janet: I guess I should have knocked.

Dusty: Janet --

Janet: I shouldn't have kept this. I'm sorry.

Dusty: Wait a second. Wait a second. Don't leave. Donít leave the hotel. Wait for me in the lounge.

Janet: Why?

Dusty: We gotta talk.

Janet: There's nothing to talk about.

Lucinda: What have we here, hmm?

Gabriel: It's Ethanís. It wasn't working, so I'm fixing it.

Lucinda: Oh. How handy. Mr. Fix-it, the Montegan marvel.

Gabriel: Okay, well, at least I have a talent.

Lucinda: Oh, you have many talents, and you're applying them all around my daughter's house. [Laughs]

Gabriel: Well, I'm a guest here, okay? And unlike you, at least Lily feels sorry for what the two of you did to me.

Lucinda: And you wasted no time taking advantage of her guilt.

Gabriel: [Chuckles] Do you have a reason for being here other than to give me a hard time?

Lucinda: I want to see her. I was hoping that I didn't have to see you.

Gabriel: Well, Lily's not here, okay? She went out.

Lucinda: Did she say where she was going?

Gabriel: No. She just said she needed some alone time.

Lucinda: [Sighs] Was she upset?

Gabriel: Of course she was. Come on. Don't act like you didn't know about her business thing falling apart.

Lucinda: Of course I know. Lily tells me everything.

Gabriel: That's not what I meant. You knew before Lily found out, didn't you?

[Jack sighs]

Carly: Hi, it's Carly. Leave a message after the beep.

[Voicemail beeps]

Jack: Hey, Carly, it's me. Listen, I was thinking about what we discussed earlier, and I don't think it's a good idea that you try to go after Craig alone. He's unpredictable. If he finds out you're on to him, there's only -- Lord knows what he might do, okay? So listen, I think it's best if I handle this on my own. I'll find out what he's up to. And if he had anything to do with the collapse of your company, I'll make sure he pays -- he pays --

Craig: You know, Blackthorn, I don't respond well to threats.

Blackthorn: It's not a threat. It's a fact. I'm trying to keep this on a business level, and I will, as long as you live up to your end of the bargain.

Craig: I'm trying.

Blackthorn: Try harder or I will make it personal. Got it?

Carly: What have you gotten yourself into now, Craig?

Craig: Carly, don't sneak up on a person like that!

Carly: Just answer the question.

Craig: Whatever you think you heard, you're mistaken.

Carly: Oh, really? So you're not in some sort of business deal with that man -- that man who clearly just threatened you?

Craig: My business dealings are no longer your concern, remember?

Carly: Oh, cut the bull, Craig. I know everything.

Craig: No one can know everything. It's mentally impossible.

Carly: Don't play games with me. You know what I'm talking about.

Craig: Do I?

Carly: Yeah, you do. You were a silent partner in Carlisle fragrances. You funded us, and then you sabotaged us, and I want to know why.

Dusty: Sorry, Lucy. I gotta deal with this.

Lucy: Before you chase after her, maybe you should think about if this is what you really want to do. Maybe the situation is better this way.

Jack: Hey. What's wrong?

Janet: Nothing. What are you doing here?

Jack: I came to see Dusty.

Janet: Well, it might be a little while. He's a little busy right now.

Jack: Why? What's going on?

Janet: It doesn't matter. I don't want to talk about it right now.

Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a second. Tell me what happened. What'd Dusty do now?

Janet: Nothing. Everything. Now I know for sure that we are never gonna be together, and I don't ever want to see him again.

Jack: Talk to me. What's going on?

Janet: I'm stupid. I brought him this lasagna because it's his favorite. How stupid am I? I'm such an idiot.

Jack: Okay, Janet, why don't we go have a seat, and you can tell me what's really going on? Because this is not about lasagna.

Janet: I don't want to talk about it, okay? I don't even want to think about it.

Jack: Okay, fines. Then let me drive you home.

Janet: No, it's fine. I have my own car, Jack. I'm okay. I can get home all by myself.

Jack: No, you're not driving, not in this condition. You're shaking. I'm not letting you get behind the wheel in this condition. Please, I'm driving. No arguments.

Dusty: This is a messed-up situation.

Lucy: Yeah, I know that. But what I'm saying is that it doesn't have to be.

Dusty: I really think I hurt Janet.

Lucy: Maybe exactly because of that, a clean break would be good for both of you.

Dusty: I think she came over to mend things.

Lucy: Is that what you really want?

Dusty: Yeah.

Lucy: Are you sure about that?

Dusty: I don't expect you to understand, but yeah.

Lucy: You made a choice today, Dusty, with me.

Dusty: I feel bad about leaving you right now.

Lucy: Then donít. What are you gonna do, apologize for sleeping with me, beg for her forgiveness? You know, when I asked you if what was going on between us was because of Janet, you didn't answer me.

Dusty: I said, "Does it matter?" You knew what I meant.

Lucy: I thought that what you meant was that at that moment, you wanted me.

Dusty: I did.

Lucy: But not if she still wants you. Go. Go after her, if she's what you really want.

Dusty: I'll call you later.

Lucinda: Oh, I get it.

[Gabriel sighs]

Lucinda: Craig. Craig got to you, and he gave you the "Poor me, I'm the victim" speech.

Gabriel: So what if he has?

Lucinda: I almost feel sorry for Craig, but it's so like him, you know, always quick to point the finger when he's the one who's guilty.

Gabriel: Well, is he? Guilty, I mean.

Lucinda: Who else would try to sabotage my daughter's dream?

Gabriel: Now, that's a good question. But the better question is why?

Lucinda: Well, I mean, if you're bonding with your father, then why don't you get together and get him to answer that question for you?

Gabriel: No, no, no. I was asking you.

Lucinda: I have no knowledge of Craig's motives.

Gabriel: Well, what are your motives?

Lucinda: My motives? Oh, I'll tell you. My motive is to protect my family at all costs, always.

Gabriel: Really? Because you have such an odd way of showing that.

Lucinda: You don't actually think that I had anything to do with the perfume-factory scandal, do you?

Gabriel: Well, Craig makes a pretty convincing case against you.

Lucinda: I can make a very convincing case against him. Be careful, young man, what horse you back, particularly and even if the horse is your father.

Gabriel: I gotta go return this to Ethan, but it was really, truly great talking to you, Ms. Walsh.

Craig: Believe it or not, Carly, I was just as surprised as Lily to find out that perfume factory in Marseilles didn't exist.

Carly: Pretending to be innocent is just as easy as breathing to you, isn't it?

Craig: Why would I scam myself out of millions of dollars?

Carly: Okay, well, if you weren't behind it, then who was?

Craig: My money's on Lucinda -- what's left of it, anyway.

Carly: And why would Lucinda do that to her own daughter?

Craig: That's a good question. I intend to find that out.

Carly: Well, you still haven't explained to me why you went behind my back to fund the company.

Craig: Would you have taken the money if you knew it was from me?

Carly: Absolutely not.

Craig: Well, there you go.

Carly: Well, then, why do it at all? It couldn't have been to win me over, because I didn't know anything about it anyway.

Craig: Because I felt that if I could help you get back on your feet in a way that you cared about, it might make up a little for what I'd done.

Carly: Oh, Craig, you always have all the right answers, don't you? But I'm not buying it.

Craig: I'm telling you everything, Carly.

Carly: Mm-hmm, except whatever deal you've got going with that Blackthorn guy.

Craig: Oh, him? He's nothing, and he has nothing to do with you or Lily.

Carly: Would you stop lying to me?

Craig: What do you want from me, Carly?

Carly: I want you to stay away from Lily.

Craig: Excuse me?

Carly: Yeah. You heard me. It's over. The deal's blown. The company's dead. Just leave her alone. Walk away.

Craig: Well, I'm sorry. I can't do that.

Carly: Why not?

Craig: It's too late.

Carly: It's too late for what?

Craig: Carly, you can't hate me and be jealous at the same time.

[Carly laughs]

Craig: It doesn't work that way.

Carly: I'm really not jealous.

Craig: Yes, you are. You miss me. And that's why you're worried about my involvement with Lily.

Carly: Craig, even if you were the last man on the planet, I still wouldn't be jealous of anything you do or with whom.

Craig: You're obviously lonely. And whatever game you and Jack are playing these days, that's not doing you any good.

Carly: My personal life is none of your business. And this is obviously just another classic Craig smokescreen.

Craig: Why would I put up a smokescreen when I have nothing to hide?

Carly: There is more going on here than meets the eye. Maybe you're trying to get back at Lily for keeping Gabriel out of your life for all these years.

Craig: No, no. You're way off on that. I forgave her for that already.

Carly: So you claim.

Craig: [Chuckles] I lost millions of dollars in this scam. Why would I punish myself to get back at someone else?

Carly: I don't know, and frankly, I don't care what you do or say anymore. Just stay out of my life, and stay away from Lily. Nobody cares about you, Craig. Nobody wants you around.

Gabriel: Told you, Lily's not here.

Lucinda: It's okay. I'm her mother. I have a right to be here, even more than you.

Gabriel: Suit yourself.

Lucinda: Look, I don't know what your father said to you or what charms he used on you, but the operative word is "Charm," deception, because your father is a master of manipulation.

Gabriel: Well, I'm wondering how much of that he learned from you.

Lucinda: And he's a liar. But then, you know that already, don't you?

Gabriel: [Laughs] Well, I know that he doesn't trust you.

Lucinda: He shouldnít. And you shouldn't trust him. You shouldnít. But you must have learned no matter how much he says he's changed, that he's gonna be a changed man, you already know from your experience that that is not possible.

Gabriel: Never say never.

Lucinda: Don't be naive, my friend. You came to town with a chip on your shoulder and hatred in your heart.

Gabriel: Okay, yeah. So what of it?

Lucinda: So hang on to that hatred. If you're smart, stay angry. And stay angry at the right person. And the right person is -- is the guy that knocked up your mom and then disappeared without a second thought.

Craig: Tell Lucinda I want to see her right now.

Genevieve: She's not here, Mr. Montgomery.

Lucy: You're gonna have to take a number. You're not the only one waiting to see her.

Craig: Lucy, what are you doing here? What's wrong?

Lucy: Nothing.

Craig: I'm your father. I can always tell when something's bothering you.

Lucy: What gave it away?

Craig: Well, for starters, the fact that you're sitting here, waiting for Lucinda. What'd she do now?

Lucy: This isn't about her.

Craig: Really? 'Cause I doubt you came here to talk to Genevieve. She's not much of a conversationalist.

Lucy: Stop trying to make me laugh with your corny jokes.

Craig: It's the only kind I know.

Lucy: I just need to talk to her about something. What's your excuse?

Craig: Business. You've been crying, Lucy.

Lucy: Daddy --

Craig: Look, I know I'm a little out of practice here, but there was a time you could tell me anything.

Lucy: That was a long time ago.

Craig: Not so long ago you can't try.

Lucy: I don't know.

Craig: I may have to tell you another joke.

Lucy: [Chuckles] You don't play fair.

Craig: Never have. But you know that about me. So?

Lucy: Grandmother lured me here, letting me believe that I still had a shot with Dusty.

Craig: A shot with Dusty? What is it about that guy?

Lucy: Daddy --

Craig: All right, fine. But you realize your first mistake was believing anything your grandmother had to tell you.

Lucy: I know, because she conveniently forgot to tell me one very important thing.

Craig: What's that?

Lucy: Dusty's in love with Janet.

Jack: Hey, hey! Whatever happened, don't blame the lasagna!

Janet: I don't blame the lasagna. I blame myself because I'm such an idiot!

Jack: What are you talking about?

Janet: Why can't I catch a break? Why can't I find a man who wants to stay with me and love me and -- sorry. I probably shouldn't be having this conversation with you.

Jack: No, no. It's okay. Its fine, it's fine. What happened with Dusty? [Voice breaking]

Janet: He slept with somebody else. At least I think he did.

Jack: How do you know this?

Janet: Because I saw him! I saw him with Lucy!

Jack: Lucy Montgomery?

Janet: Do you know any other Lucys?

Jack: So that's why you were in such a hurry to leave the Lakeview?

Janet: I'm such an idiot. I walked into his hotel room because I thought I was gonna surprise him. And hello, I'm the one who got the surprise!

Jack: Come on, Janet. Listen, to be fair --

Janet: Oh, please. Oh, don't tell me you're gonna stick up for him.

Jack: No, I'm not sticking up for him, Janet. But honestly, what did you expect? How many times did you tell him that the two of you didn't have a future together?

Janet: I had doubts. I'm human. But that doesn't give him any right to go behind my back and sleep with somebody else.

Jack: Well, more than once. Maybe he finally took you at your word and moved on.

Janet: So quickly?

Jack: Well, it depends on how you look at it.

Janet: You're happy about this, Jack. Admit it.

Jack: No, I'm not.

Janet: Yes, you are. You never wanted me and Dusty to be together in the first place.

Jack: Janet, I want -- I want you to be happy. I always have. And if that's Dusty, fine.

Janet: Well, it's not, not anymore. I blew it, didn't I?

Jack: Don't beat yourself up.

Janet: Yeah, right.

Jack: Hey, and don't beat up Dusty, either.

Dusty: That's okay. She can blame me.

Janet: What are you doing here?

Dusty: I'd like to talk to you. Can I come in?

Jack: It's your call. You want him to come in, or do you want me to get rid of him?

Dusty: I'd like to talk to Janet.

Janet: Yeah, I'll talk to him.

Jack: You're sure?

Janet: Yes.

Jack: Good. I think I'll go to the station. If you need anything, give me a call.

Dusty: I'm sorry you saw what you saw. You shouldn't have seen it.

Janet: No arguments here.

Dusty: You should have called me first.

Janet: Right. Well, if I had called, I may have interrupted what you were about to do. But that still wouldn't change the truth.

Dusty: What truth is that, Janet?

Janet: Well, apparently, you've moved on because you thought you saw me kissing Blackie. And you know what the funny thing is? The funny thing is that I was on my way to your hotel room to tell you that Blackie was kissing me, and I pushed him away! I told him I liked him only as a friend and that the only feelings I had were for you!

Dusty: Well, I was just moving on.

Janet: "Moving on"?

Dusty: Yeah. I only, you know, like getting slapped down so many times.

Janet: Yeah, and there are only so many mistakes I can make.

Dusty: Well, I'm sorry I was a mistake. I didn't want to be -- you're having another man's baby.

Janet: How many times did you tell me you were okay with that?

Dusty: Well -- it's a loaded situation.

Janet: You told me that I deserved better, that I could count on you.

Dusty: You can.

Janet: Well see, now the problem is, I can't stop thinking about you and Lucy, who is very beautiful, very rich, and very un-pregnant. She's somebody that you used to love. I can't get that image out of my head!

Lucy: You must be thrilled to hear that, right? That there's no longer any chance of Dusty and me being together?

Craig: Lucy, I've never made it a secret I think you can do a lot better than Dusty Donovan.

Lucy: Well, obviously, somebody agrees with you.

Craig: I know it doesn't feel like it now, but in the long run, you're much better off.

Lucy: Yeah. I've been telling myself that for years. Maybe one of these days, I'll be a believer.

Craig: I hate to see you this upset. Once again, Lucinda finds a way to mess up somebody's life.

Lucy: Don't be so hard on her.

Craig: Why not?

Lucy: 'Cause her heart is in the right place.

Craig: She doesn't have a heart. Okay, fine. Go ahead.

Lucy: She didn't just want me to come here for Dusty. She wanted me to come here for you, too.

[Craig scoffs]

Craig: Now, that I find hard to believe.

Lucy: No, seriously. She wanted to make it up to you after what happened with Gabriel.

Craig: Wow. The old lady is really good. Nothing is off-limits when it comes to manipulating her family.

Lucy: Well, I think she was being sincere.

Craig: Oh, Lucy --

Lucy: She thought that if I came here and spent some time with you, repaired our relationship that it might help you and Gabriel get closer.

Craig: She's not that magnanimous. But things are starting to fall into place now.

Lucy: What do you mean?

Craig: She's using you, Lucy. She couldn't care less if you get back together with Dusty. She couldn't care less if Gabriel finds a way to forgive me. You're here for one reason.

Lucy: What's that?

Craig: To distract me while she ruins Carlisle and finds a way to blame it on me.

Lucinda: Hi. Lucy, Darling, hi.

Craig: What? No kiss for me?

Lucinda: No. I haven't had my tetanus booster shot. What are you doing here, Craig?

Craig: Leaving, actually. I don't need to talk to you now.

Lucinda: Good! And I think you can find your way to the door.

Craig: We'll talk later. I'm sorry about what happened. You deserve to be happy.

Lucinda: Are you hungry, Darling? You want something to eat? I'd like to hear about Dusty.

Lucy: Oh, don't pretend to be interested, Grandmother. It's insulting.

Lucinda: I beg your pardon.

Lucy: You knew that I had no chance of winning Dusty back before you even picked up the phone to call me.

Lucinda: [Scoffs] What are you talking about?

Lucy: Dusty doesn't want me. He's in love with Janet.

Lucinda: Oh, Darling! That's finished. It's over. Anyway, it was doomed from the start. What you two shared -- that couldn't compare to it, not for one minute.

Lucy: You used me. Just admit it.

Lucinda: Eh, that's your father talking. What nonsense has he filled your head with now?

Lucy: Enough. Just stop. Don't treat me like that.

Lucinda: Lucy --

Lucy: I don't know what you think my father did to you, but I'm not taking sides here, and I won't be manipulated by you anymore. I don't want to have any part of this.

[Doorbell rings]

[Doorbell rings]

Lucy: Gabriel?

Gabriel: Yeah.

Lucy: Hi. I'm Lucy. I'm your sister.

Gabriel: I know who you are.

Lucy: Oh. Good. Can I come in?

Gabriel: Sure. I figured we'd cross paths sooner or later.

Lucy: Well, actually, you're one of the reasons that I came to Oakdale. I wanted to meet you, and I wanted to give you this. It was your motherís.

Jack: Hey. What are you doing here?

Carly: I've just come from seeing Craig.

Jack: Really? How'd that go?

Carly: Well, you're right. He's got something going on with that Blackthorn guy.

Jack: Why? What'd you see?

Carly: [Sighs] They were talking about some kind of deal. I guess Craig owes him money. Blackthorn threatened him.

Jack: Did they say what kind of deal it was?

Carly: No. But I assume it has something to do with Carlisle, with the money that Craig invested and then lost, although he denies it.

Jack: Did they mention anything specific?

Carly: No. And Craig wouldn't admit to anything.

Jack: [Sighs] Of course not. Unfortunately, we have no proof that he did anything underhanded.

Carly: Proof or not, he's guilty, and I know it. Lily thinks he's a friend, but I know he's just got her under his spell.

Jack: Holden's worried about that, too. The important thing is that we take this step by step.

Carly: Taking time is wasting time. It just gives Craig more opportunity to come up with excuses.

Jack: Yeah. I'm sorry, though, Carly. If we go after Craig without any ammo, that's gonna waste time, too. You know that.

Carly: Yeah, I know. I'm just so sick of that guy getting away with everything. I'm not gonna let it happen this time.

Dusty: I never meant to hurt you, Janet.

Janet: Then why do I feel like my heart's been ripped out?

Dusty: What do you want me to say?

Janet: I want you to say that you made a terrible mistake with Lucy and that even if I hadn't walked in on you, you would have come to your senses and stopped anyway.

Dusty: That wouldn't be true.

Janet: [Sighs] Strike one.

Dusty: Strike one? I wasn't cheating on you. You and I aren't together.

Janet: That doesn't make this any better. Where are we supposed to go from here? You see, because in my mind, I was only pushing you away to protect myself because I've been hurt so many times.

Dusty: I know that.

Janet: You said you loved me.

Dusty: I do, Janet.

Janet: And yet you go and sleep with your ex-girlfriend?

Dusty: Yeah. You want to know why?

Janet: No, no, not really.

Dusty: I was hoping I could be the guy I used to be before I met you. I can only hear the word "No" so many times, you know?

Janet: You told me you understood.

Dusty: I do, I do. But I just don't want to fight anymore. What?

Janet: I wanted more than this.

Dusty: I don't think you know what you want, Janet.

Gabriel: Where did you get this?

Lucy: Oh, I've had that rosary for years. I first saw your mother with it when I was a little girl. I told her I thought it was pretty, and so she gave it to me.

Gabriel: Really? Just like that?

Lucy: Yeah. She was a very kind person.

Gabriel: Yeah, I know.

Lucy: I told her I wasn't catholic.

Gabriel: What did she say?

Lucy: She said that it didn't matter, that God wouldn't mind if I held it while I prayed, no matter what religion I was.

Gabriel: Yeah, that sounds like my mom. Even though she was raised a catholic, she had her own special ideas about God and what he wanted.

Lucy: Well, she was a very special person.

Gabriel: Yeah.

Lucy: Yeah. And a good friend to a little girl who was having a rough time.

Gabriel: I'm glad you knew her. She was special, and she deserved better than she got.

Lucy: I know that you have a lot of anger in you over what happened to her and the way she was treated.

Gabriel: Can you blame me?

Lucy: No, I donít. You know, I used to hang around your mother when she was working. Back then, my parents were fighting all the time.

Gabriel: Really? About what?

Lucy: Oh, I don't know. Pick a topic. So I would hang out with Lidia, and she would let me help her polish the silverware or dust the furniture -- you know, the kind of things that a little kid can't mess up.

Gabriel: I'm surprised that my father -- our father let you anywhere near her.

Lucy: Well, he didn't know. Neither did my mom. It was more of a secret friendship. [Chuckles]

Gabriel: Guess my mom had a lot of secrets.

Lucy: I'm sure that your mother thought she was doing the right thing by not telling you the truth. And if my father had known that you were his son, things would have been different.

Gabriel: Yeah, well, we'll never know that now, will we? So, what happened between you and my mom?

Lucy: Well, one day, she just disappeared. I never knew why, and I was too young to ask the right questions, so I figured she just moved away.

Gabriel: Yeah, she did, only it wasn't her choice.

Lucy: People make mistakes, Gabriel -- my mother, my aunt, my grandmother. I don't condone what they did. But my mother and my aunt are sorry. My grandmother, I'm not so sure.

Gabriel: She's not sorry. Trust me.

Lucy: But I did want you to know this -- I'm proud to have a brother who is Lidiaís son. I can see her in you.

Gabriel: Thanks. Thanks for this.

Carly: We've got to figure out what the connection is between Blackthorn and Craig.

Jack: Obviously, Craig's not giving anything away.

Carly: Well, then, how about I saddle up to Blackthorn?

Jack: No, Carly. I want you staying away from that guy. I got a feeling he's bad news.

Carly: You don't know that. He's probably just a sleazy businessman.

Jack: It's too risky. And you heard him threaten Craig. He's more than just a sleazy businessman.

Carly: Well, I'm not afraid of him. Come on, Jack. You told me that you'd help me get to the bottom of what Craig is up to. I'm not gonna let you stop me.

Blackthorn: Hello, Gorgeous. I've been summoned.

Genevieve: Yes, Mr. Blackthorn. She's expecting you.

Lucinda: Enter!

Blackthorn: Thank you. I don't appreciate being called in for a command performance. I'm busy. What's this about?

Lucinda: I thought you were handling Craig.

Blackthorn: I am.

Lucinda: Not to my satisfaction.

Blackthorn: Patience. These things take a little time and a little finessing.

Lucinda: Well, I'll be patient when you're more productive.

Blackthorn: I've called in his loan. He doesn't have the money to pay me back. I'm putting the full-court press on this guy. He's gonna break soon.

Lucinda: I want him to break now. He's been a thorn in my side for too long. I want the thorn extracted.

Blackthorn: Don't worry about it. I'm on it. In fact, he should be stepping into the paranoid zone right now.

Lucinda: What have you done?

Blackthorn: Nothing. Just sent him a little message.

Lucinda: What kind of message?

Blackthorn: The kind that will make him sit up and take notice.

Craig: Well, of course I'm good for the loan. Have I ever let you down? Well, aside from that one time -- and that second time. Look, we go way back. I think my word is good enough for collateral. Hello? Hello? [Craig sighs] Bonjour, Claude. C'est Craig Montgomery. Yes, yes, it has been quite a while. Well, I've been keeping up on the news about your bank, and I -- you're not there anymore? You're retired. Well, that -- that must be awful for an energetic, money-hungry fellow like you, sit around doing noth -- you're out of it and glad for it. No.

[Knock on door]

Craig: You know, Claude, I -- I think I have a bad connection. I'll call you back. When hell freezes over.

Bellboy: This was delivered downstairs for you, Mr. Montgomery.

Craig: Who is it from?

Bellboy: I don't know, Sir. Secret admirer, maybe.

Craig: [Chuckles] Yeah. That must be it. Thank you. What the hell is this?

Dusty: Who's been trying to have a real relationship, Janet?

Janet: You have. I know that.

Dusty: You would never take the next step.

Janet: That's because every time I tried, I'd get the rug pulled out from under my feet. First I got pregnant.

Dusty: And I was happy for you.

Janet: And then you let my father go off and play hero, and it got him killed.

Dusty: Yes. I'll carry that one with me forever. You know that.

Janet: I do know that. I know that. But then you turn around, and you make me believe that money I got was from my pop's inheritance.

Dusty: Come on. I love you. You were struggling. You needed my help.

Janet: And now -- now you sleep with your ex-girlfriend. What? You've got nothing to say to that?

Dusty: I left her to come over here.

Janet: Why?

Dusty: Because I think we should talk things out.

Janet: And that will get us where?

Dusty: That's up to you.

Janet: You're right. Maybe I don't know what I want.

Dusty: I do. I love you. I still want you. You deserve better than Jack. I'm certainly better for you than Blackie.

Janet: Blackie is a nonissue. He's always been a nonissue. And the only reason Jack and I are close is because of this baby.

Dusty: So what does this mean for us?

Janet: I don't know. Because when I look at you, all I can see is you in bed with Lucy. And it's not just that you were trying to forget about me. It's that you were remembering her.

Dusty: I hope we get past it.

Janet: In half an hour?

Dusty: Yeah, in half a second. Why not?

Janet: No, I canít. Just go, okay? Just get out of here.

Dusty: No. I canít.

Lucy: So, now that we've officially met, I hope that we'll stay in touch, right?

Gabriel: I hope so. I mean, we do live in the same town. You're not sticking around, are you?

Lucy: I don't think I can.

Gabriel: Come on. Why not?

Lucy: Well, there are some painful memories for me here that I thought I could correct, but now I know that I canít.

Gabriel: Well, learn to deal with it. That's what I'm trying to do.

Lucy: It's complicated.

Gabriel: Some guy?

Lucy: No, not some guy, the guy. But he doesn't love me, so it's a nonissue.

Gabriel: That's his loss.

Lucy: I agree. But that's not the only problem for me here. Our father is in the middle of this huge battle with my grandmother, and I just can't get caught in the middle.

Gabriel: So step aside. You don't have to leave town to do that.

Lucy: It isn't that easy. Grandmother is blaming our dad for everything that happened with Lily's company, and he's putting the blame right back on her. I don't know who to believe.

Gabriel: Believe our father.

Lucy: Why do you say that?

Gabriel: Because I know the truth.

Lucy: You do?

Gabriel: Craig didn't do it. Your grandmother is setting him up.

Lucy: How do you know that?

Gabriel: Because I heard her admit it.

Lucinda: So you're telling me that I can count on my Craig problems being resolved soon?

Blackthorn: Absolutely. The fuse has been lit. We just sit back and wait for the pop.

Lucinda: Well, the pop will be music to my ears.

[Lucinda sighs]

Blackthorn: Why do you hate this guy so much?

Lucinda: My motives are none of your concern.

Blackthorn: I understand. I'm curious.

Lucinda: [Chuckles] His crimes against me are too numerous to name.

Blackthorn: And you remembered every one of them.

Lucinda: Like yesterday. Waited a long time for him to get what's coming to him. And now, finally, he will.

[Clock ticking]

Craig: "No, Craig, it's not a bomb -- this time."

Carly: I have to shut the door on Craig once and for all.

Jack: You'll get no argument from me there. I know you've learned your lesson.

Carly: I have. I don't ever want to be that person again. I don't want to be that person who's blind to the fact that someone is taking advantage of me.

Jack: I just hope it wasn't because of me that you felt that desperate.

Carly: What are you talking about?

Jack: [Sighs] I hate to think that the problems you and I have had over the years have caused you to doubt what a strong, smart, incredible person you are.

Carly: No. I was weak because I let myself be weak, especially when it came to Craig.

Jack: Okay, but Blackthorn is a whole other can of worms, one I don't want you opening.

Carly: Jack, if it proves that Craig sabotaged my company, then it's worth the risk.

Jack: I'm not so sure, Carly.

Carly: Please. You promised me that you wouldn't stop me from being involved with this.

Jack: Yes, you're right. Okay, fine, I didnít. Yeah. I'm not gonna -- but I'm not gonna let you do this alone. We're in this together.

Carly: Okay. So then, what's our first move?

Jack: How do you feel about wearing a wire?

On the next "As the World Turns" --

Lily: That's the sweetest, most generous thing that you've ever done for me.

Dusty: I hope it's not over between us, unless you want it to be.

Blackthorn: You owe me money. I want it back.

Craig: I understand that, but --

Blackthorn: There's no buts. I want my money. Time's a-wasting.

Jack: Problem is, we don't know who Blackthorn is linked to.

Carly: That's exactly what we're gonna find out.
