Paul: Well, check you out. Look at Emily Stewart clucking around like a mom in a '60s sitcom.

Emily: Yeah. I wish -- at least the mom part.

Paul: Yeah, how about the pearls part. Little heels -- ooh, little white gloves.

Emily: [Chuckles]

Paul: You call me "The Beave."

Emily: Oh, hi! Hi, you guys. I-I'm so glad you could make it.

Alison: No problem.

Emily: Can I get you a cup of tea?

Alison: I guess.

Hunter: Why are we here?

Paul: Skip, you want some tea?

Emily: Yeah. How do you take it?

Hunter: With aspirin, when I'm sick.

Alison: Um, do you want to tell us what's going on?

Paul: Go ahead.

Emily: I've decided the -- the four of us need to be more of a family. Starting right now.

Maddie: It's chilly.

Casey: It's November. Why are you still here?

Maddie: I just came in.

Casey: No, I mean, in Oakdale. Why aren't you at school?

Maddie: You just noticed this now?

Casey: Well, I guess with all this stuff going on --

Maddie: Yeah, I have a lot of stuff going on, too.

Casey: It's because of me, isn't it?

Maddie: Well, there's that famous Casey Hughes humility.

Casey: Am I wrong?

Maddie: I'm sorry. If you haven't noticed, my mother is wreaking havoc all over town. My poor brother's life is falling apart.

Casey: It is because of me.

Maddie: No!

Casey: No?

Maddie: Okay, it's partly because of you.

Rosanna: I really can't blame Carly for throwing me out. What kind of person steals her sister's fiancé when she's in rehab?

Craig: Will you please stop being so hard on yourself.

Rosanna: Why should I listen to you? You slept with your fiancée’s sister, when your fiancée was in rehab.

Craig: For some reason, I just don't feel so bad about that.

Rosanna: Ugh. I can't do this. I can't do this.

Craig: Rosanna --

Rosanna: I have to find some place to live.

Craig: Good idea. How about right here?

Rosanna: With you? Are you out of your mind?

Carly: Jack's in Philadelphia?

Ben: He said he was working on a case, but he sure didn't act like it, so I figured I'd do some investigating of my own.

Carly: Did he tell you his brother Brad died?

Ben: What? No, no, no, not a word. I even asked him how Brad was doing.

Carly: His wife was kidnapped. They both went after her. Brad was taken hostage himself. When Jack went in, he was shot at and he fired back.

Ben: Jack shot Brad?

Carly: In the chest.

Ben: Oh, my God.

Carly: It was just a terrible accident. Jack didn't even know that he was in the warehouse.

Ben: That wouldn't matter to Jack. He still blames himself.

Carly: Yeah.

Ben: So that's what he's running from. That explains why he was acting so weird. I'm glad I called you.

Carly: It's real good of you to worry about him. But we're not married anymore, and I don't know what could I do from here, anyway.

Ben: I guess I didn't know who else to call.

Carly: I'll let his wife know. She's been very worried about him. Is he still there?

Ben: I-I don't know. He -- he took off, but, uh -- wow. He was acting so weird, it kind of tripped me out. But now that I know about Brad -- look, I'm sorry I bothered you with all this.

Carly: No. Ben, thanks. I'm glad you did. Take care.

Irv: What are you doing?

Jack: I'm just checking it out. Yeah, this would do the job, all right.

Irv: What job?

Jack: Well, in case you were wondering if there was any chance you're going to survive that drop, not a chance in hell.

Irv: So you're really not up here to talk me down. You're just a screwed-up cop, like you said.

Jack: Excuse me -- ex-cop.

Irv: Uh, from Illinois. Uh, I'd say up north, uh, maybe near Chicago.

Jack: That's very good.

Irv: Well, speech patterns are my profession. As old Ben Franklin says, born and bred in Boston.

Jack: Irv, I'm not here to chat.

Irv: You've got a hell of a bedside manner. How come you're not a cop anymore?

Jack: I killed my brother.

Irv: Why?

Jack: I screwed up. I was trying to save his wife, so was he, and I shot him. Now he's dead. His wife, his newborn son, and his teenage daughter are all alone.

Irv: Bummer.

Jack: That's the best you can do, Mr. Franklin?

Irv: Well, off the top of my head, yeah.

Jack: No wonder you want out.

Irv: Hey, hey, hey, hey. You don't want to fall.

Jack: What makes you so sure?

Irv: Well, you didn't come up here to jump.

Jack: No. But now that I'm here, it's starting to seem like a pretty good idea.

Craig: Just go with me on this. I'll just clear out a little closet and drawer space.

Rosanna: I am not moving in with you, Craig.

Craig: I don't see why not.

Rosanna: Because what we did to Carly was bad enough. I'm not going to rub her nose in it.

Craig: I really don't think our living arrangement is going to matter to her much right now.

Rosanna: Well, it matters to me. I mean, if I ever want her to forgive me, moving in with you would just kill that chance.

Craig: You're right.

Rosanna: Thank you. Thank you for understanding.

Craig: But know this -- I am going to ask you to move in with me again, and I'm going to do it soon. And if you accept, I hope that we can make it about you and me -- not Carly.

Carly: Jack, please, call me when you get this. It's very important.

Parker: I found this hanging from a tree branch outside.

Carly: It's Rosanna’s. I threw her stuff out with her.

Parker: So -- so you found out? You okay?

Carly: Yeah. I'm fine. I'm just sorry you got mixed up in my mess.

Parker: No, no. This was their mess, not yours.

Carly: Still. I want you to know that you don't every have to protect me again. I am done drinking. I'm in charge of my life. I will not be a problem for you ever again.

Parker: You weren’t. Have you talked to Dad at all?

Carly: I was just leaving a message for him.

Parker: Well, I've left him a couple and he hasn't called me back yet, which really isn't like him.

Carly: Yeah. I think he's having a tough time.

Parker: Yeah. No, I mean, I can't even -- I can't even begin to imagine how upset he must be about Brad. And now everyone's blaming him for it.

Carly: No, the only person who's blaming your father is your father.

Parker: Actually, Liberty just told me that he'd been drinking before he shot Brad.

Carly: Hey! He can handle a couple of drinks, Parker. There's no way he was impaired when he went into that warehouse. I would swear to that.

Parker: No, no, I know. And I agree. I've been trying to convince Liberty of that, but she's just -- she's so upset about losing her dad, and it happened so close after her miscarriage.

Carly: She -- she was pregnant?! Parker?

Parker: Yes. Yes -- no, it was not mine. It was not mine. This jerk at school completely blew her off, and then everyone started arguing over the baby -- I mean, her mom, Dad, Emily, and Paul Ryan.

Carly: Wow. Guess I missed out on a lot, huh?

Parker: I guess. But you're home now, and Sage and I are pretty happy about that.

Carly: I missed you both so much.

Parker: You think Dad's going to be okay?

Carly: I don't know. He can be pretty tough on himself.

Parker: You know, he actually came to see you at rehab. He wanted to tell you about Craig and Rosanna.

Carly: I didn't know that.

Parker: Yeah. He had to leave before he could see you because of Liberty's miscarriage. But I think he wanted to warn you so that you didn't have to find out about it like you did.

Carly: I guess he still looks out for us, doesn't he?

Parker: Yeah.

Carly: Well, I think now it's our turn to look out for him.

Emily: Hunter, I know that you've been very unhappy ever since your mother -- the mother who raised you died. And, Ali, I know that you've been going through a rough time ever since you broke up with Casey.

Alison: Well, that's not your problem.

Emily: No, it is. No -- see, that's my point -- it is. I'm your family, and we're here to help you through that.

Alison: You mean you two?

Emily: Exactly, exactly. Who better to help you through tough times?

Hunter: That's great to know. Can we go now?

Paul: She hasn't said the good part yet.

Alison: And what's that?

Emily: Well, Paul and I would love it if you moved in with us.

Hunter: Whoa! You kicked me out.

Emily: Yeah. Well, no, no. I mean, that was because he was going through a very difficult situation with his father. But -- never mind that, okay? It doesn't matter. We all could use the kind of support and encouragement we can give each other.

Alison: She's serious?

Paul: Yeah, I think so.

Alison: And how do you feel about it?

Paul: I think it's a great idea.

Emily: So? What do you think?

Alison: Look, I know you mean well. But, I already have a mother. I mean, I don't need a new one just because I broke up with my boyfriend.

Hunter: And I don't think I'm a very good substitute for the baby you lost.

Paul: That was a little harsh.

Emily: No, it's okay. It's -- you know, they're just being honest. I just thought -- I thought it was something good.

Hunter: No, well, maybe if you had treated me differently. Maybe if you were -- well, an entirely different person. But giving you another chance to blow me off just because you get on some little kick is not my idea of warm and fuzzy. You coming?

Alison: I really have to get back to the hospital.

Emily: Yeah. This is payback for all the pain we've caused over the years. We're definitely cursed.

Maddie: Do you realize that we've never actually broken up because of our own feelings? It's always been outside things, like I went to school, you went to jail --

Casey: Or Noah.

Maddie: Or Alison. I'm just saying, you know, we never really give -- have given ourselves a chance.

Casey: You mean to -- to see if we could blow it without any outside help?

Maddie: Exactly. Or maybe we wouldn't blow it.

Casey: Maybe.

Maddie: So do you think this would be a good time to try?

Casey: Maybe. I mean, you're right -- there's nothing outside of us that could get in our way.

Maddie: Are you sure? 'Cause I can tell Wesleyan right now and tell them that I need a leave of absence.

Casey: You didn't already do that?

Maddie: No, I thought I was going back.

Casey: Half the semester's over.

Maddie: Well, right. But I can call, and they'll drop my classes, and then I'll just take a leave. If you want me to stay. I'm here, so --

Casey: Yeah, yeah. I'm -- I'm glad you stayed.

Maddie: Okay. Are you sure? Because otherwise --

Casey: Yes, yes. I'm -- I'm definitely sure.

Maddie: Okay.

Casey: Okay. Good.

Maddie: Okay.

Casey: Good.

Maddie: Good.

Casey: Where you going?

Maddie: Call the registrar and make it official.

McGill: You are violating city law! Leave the roof and return to the street immediately or you will be arrested and charged!

Jack: What are they going to do, scrape us off the pavement and take us downtown?

Irv: Do they know you're a cop?

Jack: Irv, like I said, I'm not a cop.

Irv: Well, maybe you should be. It sounds like shooting your brother was -- was an accident.

Jack: That's not why I quit, Irv. I just couldn't do the job right anymore.

Irv: I know the feeling. You hit that ceiling, and you realize you're not going to go any higher than you are right now.

Jack: And you realize maybe that you're not as good as you thought you were?

Irv: Hey, I never said that.

Jack: Then what the hell are you doing up here?

Irv: I robbed that bank. It's too late to go back.

Jack: No, Irv, it's not. You didn't hurt anybody. And I bet they'll cut you a deal if you surrender yourself and the cash.

Irv: And then what?

Jack: You get on with your life.

Irv: I hate my life.

Jack: I hear you, brother.

Irv: Playing Ben Franklin for a lot of kids who think he took his name from the $100 bill? [Jack laughs] That's not funny. Maybe one kid in 100 has the slightest idea what I'm trying to say.

Jack: Yeah, well, I guess that next kid is just going to have to figure it out on his own.

Irv: I know what you're trying to do, and it won't work. I'm going over.

Jack: No!

Carly: Hey. I need to find Jack in Philadelphia. Do you have any idea where he's been assigned down there?

Cop 1: He's in Philly?

Carly: Yeah. Where's Margo? She's probably the one who sent him.

Cop 1: I doubt it. He resigned from the force.

Carly: When?

Cop 1: After his brother's funeral.

Carly: Then what is he doing in Philly?

Cop 2: Yo, yo, yo, check this out, guys.

Reporter: Coming to you live from city hall in Philadelphia. There's a life-and-death drama in progress on the roof.

Carly: Oh, my God!

Cop 1: Looks like you found him.

Carly: W-where did they say he was?

Cop 2: City hall. Why?

Craig: You know, it really is a waste of money for you to take your own room.

Rosanna: It's not about the money. It's about Carly.

Craig: It's not going to make her feel any better about us.

Rosanna: Well, maybe not. But if I move into your room, it'll certainly make things worse. I don't know why Jack isn't calling me back. I left him two messages.

Craig: Because I'm sure he's taking Carly's side against us.

Rosanna: Well, I told him it wasn't about us -- it's about the kids.

Craig: Call the house.

Rosanna: What if Carly answers?

Craig: Hang up.

Rosanna: Okay. Hey, Parker, it's Rosanna.

Parker: What do you want?

Rosanna: Do you know where your dad is?

Parker: In Philadelphia.

Rosanna: Oh. Is he there on a case?

Parker: No. My -- my mom went to get him.

Rosanna: Why would she do that?

Parker: She's worried about him.

Rosanna: Well, let me know if you hear anything, okay?

Craig: What?

Rosanna: Carly has gone to Philadelphia, presumably to rescue Jack.

Craig: From what?

Rosanna: I don't know. Why would she chase her ex-husband halfway across the country?

Craig: Oh, I hope she's not drinking again.

Rosanna: If she is, it's our fault.

Craig: And that makes it our job to go after her.

Rosanna: Okay.

Paul: Well, what do you think?

Emily: Wow. Very impressive.

Paul: Yeah, let's hope the world council for needy children agrees with you. Do I have to wear a tie?

Emily: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We need all the help we can get.

Paul: You know, what you said before about being cursed, we're not.

Emily: No?

Paul: Mm-hmm.

Emily: Then why can't we have a family?

Paul: We are a family. You're definitely enough for me.

Emily: Well, you're enough for me. I love you. You know that. You're wonderful. But I want to share the wealth, so why does it keep blowing up in our faces?

Paul: It didn't blow up in our faces. Alison and Hunter said no. No big deal.

Emily: And Liberty's baby?

Paul: Yeah, I don't know what to say.

Emily: We're cursed.

Paul: No, we're not. You know what? We'll try again or we'll, uh, we'll go steal ourselves a whole litter of babies.

Emily: You really think that's going to get rid of the curse?

Paul: So I'll just go give away the Stenbeck fortune. That'll change our luck forever.

[Phone ringing]

Emily: Oh, Hunter, where are you?

Maddie: Hey. Guess who has officially on leave from Wesleyan?

Casey: Good! As long as that's what you really want.

Maddie: Didn't we agree on this?

Casey: Yeah, yeah.

Maddie: Okay, because last year you convinced me to go back, and I did, and I regretted it.

Casey: So did I.

Maddie: Did you?

Casey: Yeah. I do now.

Maddie: Yeah?

Casey: Definitely.

Maddie: Good.

Hunter: What could she possibly see in that loser? Sorry. Hi, Maddie!

Maddie: Hey, what's up? Call me after your test?

Casey: Sure. What's up?

Alison: Not much. So, you have a test?

Casey: Yeah, modern European history.

Alison: Good luck.

Casey: Thanks.

Emily: Hi. Hunter, can I talk to you, please?

Hunter: Later, okay?

Emily: It's actually about work.

Hunter: All right. What?

Emily: In private. Come on.

Alison: So, you and Maddie seem pretty tight.

Casey: We go way back.

Alison: When is she going back to school?

Casey: She took a leave.

Alison: So, does that mean the two of you are together again?

Casey: We're going to give it a shot.

Alison: You didn't waste any time, did you?

Casey: You dumped me, remember? It was never what I wanted.

Carly: Is this city hall?

Cop: Sorry, but we got a jumper up there, maybe two.

Carly: No, I know. That's why I need to get there.

Cop: No one gets through, lady, so just move along.

Jack: I had a couple of beers that night when I got the call. I had no business carrying a loaded weapon.

Irv: Well, you had family in there. Their lives were in danger.

Jack: We're trained not to let personal feelings cloud our judgment, though, Irv.

Irv: Are you're also trained not to be human?

Jack: It's the job.

Irv: Well, then, it's too hard.

Jack: Maybe it is.

Irv: Well, nice talking with you, Jack, but I've got some business to take care of. As old Ben says, never leave for tomorrow that which you can do today. Nice knowing you, Jack.

Jack: Nice knowing you, Irv.

Irv: Where are you going?

Jack: It's a cleaner jump over here.

Irv: You think I'm going to fall for that one?

Jack: I'm serious.

Irv: Are you going to go over, too?

Jack: That's right.

Irv: Why would you do that?

Jack: The same reason as you. Life sucks, and it just keeps getting worse. Come on, Irv. Let's do this together, huh? Come on. Come on!

McGill: I need you to locate them both and report back on their status.

Cop: I'm pretty sure we know their status.

McGill: Just confirm and report back on their status! Guys, we got a possible two jumpers on the west side of the building. Can you get over there? Great. This is not going to be pretty. I'm telling you.

Carly: Excuse me, Sergeant. Those two men on the roof, one of them is my ex-husband, Detective Jack Snyder, from Oakdale, Illinois.

McGill: The guy's a cop.

Carly: Can you tell me where he is?

McGill: We're right in the process of locating him right now.

Carly: Locating him? He's on the roof. I saw it on TV. Have you brought them down?

McGill: Mrs. Snyder, is you'll just have a --

Carly: Tenney, Tenney.

McGill: What?

Carly: Nothing. Just please tell me where he is.

McGill: As soon as I can, okay? As soon as I can. Can you believe that? This is McGill. I need a situation report. Come back to me.

Cop: Still searching the area.

McGill: How hard can it be? There's only one damn direction he could have gone!

Jack: You okay, Irv? Huh? You all right?

Irv: Well, W.C. Fields was wrong. Hell is just like Philadelphia!

Jack: No, we're not in hell, Irv.

Irv: Huh?

Jack: We're not in heaven either. We're very much alive and well and safe.

Irv: Really?

Jack: Really.

Irv: You mean we're not dead?

Jack: Nope.

Irv: We're not dead, oh!

Jack: Well, that's a change. I thought you wanted to end it?

Irv: Well, I did right up until you pulled me off the roof, and then I suddenly realized that maybe life wasn't as bad as I thought it was. Maybe I can change, live a life worthy of Mr. Franklin.

Jack: There you go. And you can start by giving this money back.

Irv: Absolutely.

Cop: Anyone hurt?

Jack: No. In fact, Irv here has something he would like to give you. That ought to make the bank pretty happy.

Cop: Yeah, just don't expect a free toaster with your new account.

Jack: You ready?

Irv: Mr. Franklin said to live long, live well, for folly and wickedness shorten life.

Jack: Sounds good to me.

Alison: Are you saying that if I tell you I want you back you'll dump Maddie all over again? I mean, she just gave up school for you.

Casey: Since when do you worry about Maddie?

Alison: I just don't want to see her get hurt.

Casey: Too bad you never felt that way about me.

Alison: Give me a break, Casey.

Casey: Okay. You want to know the truth? Maddie wants us to give it another chance, and before I say yes, I want to make sure there's no chance me and you could get back together.

Alison: So you're giving me the right of first refusal?

Casey: That's kind of cold.

Alison: I just want to be clear.

Casey: I'm going to be as clear as I can, okay? I still love you. I just want to know if you still care about me at all.

Emily: Okay. Hunter, I want to be part of your life here, but I need a little effort on your part. Honestly, I can't do all the work.

Hunter: Fine.

Emily: I want you to feel like I'm here for you, you know? Whatever you need, if you have any problems, maybe I can help. Like right now, what's going on?

Hunter: Okay. The number one problem is Casey. Alison's still hung up on him. Maddie's throwing himself all over him. What the hell is it with that guy?

Emily: Yeah. Casey has his charms.

Hunter: Oh, gross! I forgot!

Emily: No, no, no. Wait, wait. Sorry. Why is this your problem?

Hunter: Alison's miserable.

Emily: Because she wants Casey back?

Hunter: And she shouldn’t.

Emily: But she does.

Hunter: And I want her to be happy.

Emily: It has nothing to do with Maddie?

Hunter: What?

Emily: Maddie. Do you like her?

Hunter: I mean, she's cute. She does know her way around a hard drive.

Emily: You know what? Maybe you can do something for yourself and Alison, too.

Hunter: What?

Emily: Yeah. It's not obvious, is it?

Hunter: The square root of pi is obvious. The scientific method is obvious. The polynomial theory of the second kind is obvious. Relationships baffle me, Emily.

Emily: I cannot believe you are my son sometimes, really. Really, you're my son. You are so lucky you have your mother here to show you the way.

Hunter: What?

Emily: The art of seduction.

Hunter: No, no, no, no, no. That is out of my skill set.

Emily: It's not. You're a guy, aren't you? You got my DNA. All you got to do is let it out.

McGill: Irving Finsterwald, you're under arrest for armed robbery.

Irv: Hey, they know my real name!

Jack: You've been on TV. Sergeant, I'd like to go on record and say that Irv is filled with remorse and he gave up that money voluntarily.

McGill: Well, I'm really touched, but you're lucky I'm not arresting you, too.

Jack: What for?

McGill: For interfering with police operations, for one thing.

Irv: Hey, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him!

Jack: Sergeant, you got to admit you've got a successful outcome here thanks to Irv.

McGill: Yeah, we'll see. Take him downtown, guys.

Irv: Hey, Jack. Thanks for everything. Maybe now you can let yourself off the hook. You may have taken one life, but you saved mine.

Jack: So, you going to cuff me now, too?

McGill: I got to admit, what you did up there, that was good work, especially scoping out that ledge before you jumped.

Jack: Who says I did?

McGill: By the way, your ex-wife was looking for you.

Jack: Carly? She's here?

McGill: Yeah. I'm not going to have to bust you for being a deadbeat dad or something, am I?

Jack: No, I don't owe anybody any money.

McGill: Well, that's good, for a change.

Jack: So we're good?

McGill: We're good. Take care, Detective.

Jack: Thanks.

Carly: Can you at least tell me what's going on on that roof?

Cop: Sorry, Ma'am. I don't know myself.

[Carly grunts]

Rosanna: Carly! Oh, my God! I can't believe we found you!

Carly: What the hell are you doing here?

Rosanna: I know you're not happy to see us, but we were worried about you!

Carly: How did you know where to find me?

Craig: Parker said you went looking for Jack. We saw the TV coverage at the airport, so we figured you came here.

Rosanna: Yeah. Where's Jack?

Carly: I don't know, and they won't tell me anything.

Craig: All right. The radio in the cab said that both men got off the roof safely.

Carly: They did?

Rosanna: Yeah. Jack's a big hero. He helped get the other guy off the roof!

Carly: Oh, thank God he's all right. And thank you both for telling me, but now please get the hell out of my sight.

Rosanna: Carly, please, just listen to us.

Carly: Why?

Rosanna: We know that you left town because of us, but we need you to come home for the kids, if nothing else.

Carly: The last thing I need is for you to tell me what my children need, okay?

Craig: Carly, now that you know Jack is all right, you can stop worrying. Whatever he needs to do here, he needs to do alone.

Carly: And how do you know that?

Craig: If he wanted someone with him, he might have taken his wife.

Rosanna: Listen, we just want to take you home. I already told you what I want from you.

Craig: Carly, I don't blame you if you hate me, but Rosanna is still your sister.

Carly: Right.

Craig: After everything you've been through, the last thing you need is all this anger and resentment.

Carly: Craig, stop telling me what I need!

Alison: It's not that I don't care about you, Casey. I just don't think I can trust you.

Casey: But if you give me a chance --

Alison: I have given you chances, and you keep hurting me.

Casey: I can change!

Alison: No, I don't think so. I'm sorry. I guess that's just the way I feel.

Casey: So, that's your answer.

Alison: I guess it is. So, you can go and do whatever with Maddie.

Casey: If that's what you really want.

Alison: Is that what you want?

Casey: I don't think that's something I need to discuss with you.

Alison: Probably not. Okay. Well, I have to go to work, so I should go. Okay, then. Bye.

Casey: Yeah. Bye.

Hunter: Maddie.

Maddie: Hey, Hunter. Hey.

Hunter: Hey. I didn't know you were living here.

Maddie: Mm-hmm.

Hunter: That's sweet.

Maddie: Yeah. What's up?

Hunter: Oh, I'm looking for you.

Maddie: Oh. Well, I'm right here.

Hunter: Right. Wow.

Maddie: Oh, is this about Alison? Did she send you?

Hunter: No. This isn't about anyone, well, except you and, well, me.

Maddie: What about you and me?

Hunter: Do you want to go out to have a sandwich with me?

Maddie: A sandwich?

Hunter: Yeah. Well, I know you're too young to drink, and a sandwich was the next logical conclusion.

Maddie: Oh, right. Well, actually, I'm not too young to go out and drink. It's just that it's really early, and I've already had lunch. So --

Hunter: Well, do you want to go up to your room and make out?

Emily: You're back.

Paul: Yep.

Emily: How'd it go?

Paul: They said no.

Emily: What do you mean?

Paul: I mean they said no. They don't want the money.

Emily: Why?

Paul: I have no idea. I said the words "James Stenbeck." Next thing I know, I'm standing in the parking lot.

Emily: I don't believe it.

Paul: Apparently the Stenbeck name will besmirch their saintly organization.

Emily: Well, to hell with them!

Paul: Mm-hmm. That's what I said.

Emily: Do you have any idea how many charities would kill for that kind of donation?

Paul: Well, maybe not the best way to put it, but I agree with you.

Emily: It doesn't matter anymore.

Paul: What do you mean? You're the one who's always so worried about karma.

Emily: No, not anymore. Not after this.

Paul: Do you regret marrying me?

Emily: What?

Paul: If you want to walk out that door right now, I won't stand in your way.

Emily: Where the hell is this coming from?

Ben: Hey, it's the hero.

Jack: Hardly.

Ben: It was on the news. Everybody's talking about it.

Jack: Just happened to be there, Ben.

Ben: You were determined to be there.

Jack: Really, I'm no hero.

Ben: I heard about Brad.

Jack: You talked to Carly, didn't you?

Ben: Was I out of line?

Jack: No, not at all.

Ben: Why didn't you tell me what happened?

Jack: I didn't know how. I should have. I'm sorry.

Ben: So, that's what you're running from.

Jack: Okay, don't start on me. Please, Ben.

Ben: You can't change what happened.

Jack: You don't think I know that?

Ben: But you can turn it into something positive.

Jack: With all due respect, please spare me the sermon.

Ben: You saved a life today, Jack.

Jack: Yeah, and that doesn't change anything either.

Ben: Yes, it does. Today you saved a life. You want to make up for what happened? Then make sure you're running towards something and not just away from it.

McGill: So, fortunately, I think we got everybody down safely, and -- would you excuse me a second, please?

Cop: Sure. Thank you, Officer.

McGill: Mrs. Snyder, I was looking for you.

Carly: It's Tenney. Where is Jack?

McGill: I was hoping you could tell me.

Carly: What do you mean?

McGill: Well, you know, after what he did today, bringing that young fellow down safely and everything, that was above and beyond. A lot of people want to talk to him, but nobody knows where he is.

Carly: He's gone?

McGill: So you haven't seen him, then.

Carly: No!

McGill: Well, if you do, would you give him this card and have him call me, please?

Carly: Yeah, I sure will.

McGill: Okay, thanks.

Carly: Maybe you could do a little favor for me?

Paul: You say I have a curse over my head, and maybe you're right, and maybe it started with my father, but you know what? I've done an awful lot in my life to deserve the curse that I have over my head.

Emily: It was just a figure of speech.

Paul: And you say that you want to start a family. I mean, do you really want to burden a kid with the Stenbeck DNA?

Emily: I have done a lot of sketchy things in my life, okay. If we are indeed cursed, then I want equal credit.

Paul: You might be happier, you know, with a teacher or cobbler.

Emily: A cobbler.

Paul: Somebody strong and simple who works with his hands. You might be happier.

Emily: Maybe. But, you see, I don't want a cobbler. I want you.

Paul: Yeah? You sure? Free shoes.

Emily: Oh, God. Shut up.

Maddie: Did you just ask me if I wanted to make out with you?

Hunter: Well, we could start there, and then we could just see how it goes.

Maddie: What makes you think I want to do that?

Hunter: You don't?

Maddie: Are you out of your mind?

Hunter: I knew I sucked at this.

Alison: Hey. We're out of latex gloves, so I was going to run down to the basement and get some more in the storeroom, okay? Okay. Hey! What happened? Is someone there? Hello? Okay, forget the gloves! No! No!

Ben: All I'm saying is you can't be a martyr to your guilt. You have to overcome it.

Jack: I hear you.

Ben: Do you really?

Jack: Let me ask you something. Do you ever hear from Mike Kasnoff?

Ben: No, not for a while.

Jack: You know where he might be?

Ben: Last I heard, he was in South Carolina, Greenville, I think. Why?

Jack: Just curious. It's good seeing you, Ben.&

Ben: Yeah, you too.

Jack: Good luck with everything.

Ben: Take care.

McGill: You're sure these are the perps, Mrs. Snyder?

Craig: What are you talking about?

Carly: They followed me here from Oakdale. They assaulted me.

Rosanna: What?

Craig: What?

Carly: I was so afraid they were going to kidnap me. I actually had to fight them off.

McGill: You're both under arrest.

Craig: Are you kidding me?

Rosanna: Come on! This isn't fair! She's lying, obviously!

Carly: Enjoy your stay in Philly.

McGill: You have the right to remain silent.

Craig: You are making such a big mistake.

McGill: Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.

Rosanna: Oh, my -- Carly!

McGill: You have the right to an attorney during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you. Do you understand these rights?

Rosanna: Yeah, yeah. Clearly. I understand.

McGill: Okay.

On the next "As the World Turns" --

Mick: I just need someone to give me a chance.

Alison: Paul, Emily. I wanted you to meet Mick Dante. Mick has a project that I thought you might find interesting.

Brad: I'm not checking out until the Cubs win the series. Now go deliver the message!
