Craig: Mnh, mnh. Let it go to voicemail.
Craig: You can't be serious.
Rosanna: Shh. If you have to snore or breathe or something, just put a pillow over your head. Smother yourself.
Carly: Where the heck are you?
Rosanna: I, uh, ran out early.
Carly: Oh, of course. Ah, the telltale pregnant pause.
Carly: You are so snagged. And when you get back here, I want need to hear every dirty detail.
Rosanna: Oh. Okay.
Rosanna: She knows.
Craig: What? She knows? Who told her? Did Parker tell her?
Rosanna: No, I just did! Didn't you hear me? I'm a terrible liar!
Rosanna: We -- we have to do something. We have to do something today. I cannot live like this.
Craig: No. No, we're not gonna do that, Rosanna.
Mason: Ah, to our first day in the can!
Noah: Yeah, good job.
Noah: What are you doing here?
Luke: What? I'm checking up on you. I got your text message. You said you were filming all night.
Noah: Yeah, yeah, we were. We just finished. That's why we're having beer for breakfast.
Luke: Ah, that explains it.
Noah: Hey, not that I have a problem with the look, but what's with the tie?
Luke: Oh, um, Grimaldi meeting. I'm covering.
Noah: Oh, so you'll have to skip the party. But I don't think you met everybody yesterday. You know want to come over?
Luke: I can't.
Noah: Hey, look, Luke, I'm trying here. I was up all night, shooting the movie. I'm psyched about it. I want to share that with you, and you're kind of being Mr. Attitude about the whole thing.
Luke: No, no, I -- I just told you, I was coming to see how you were. I mean, I have to go to my meeting.
Luke: I assumed you weren't having any fun, but, obviously, you are.
Mason: Hey, there, Luke Skywalker. We had a fantastic night. So turn that frown upside down.
Grady: I couldn't have you people thinking that we dropped the ball in Kentucky. Our department took that investigation very seriously.
Meg: Well, I can see that. And I will never forget how you came all the way out here just to clear things up.
Grady: I had to. Damian Grimaldi needs to get what's coming to him for what he put your family through. All that time you thought your brother was dead, and he wasn't, and you could have been helping him get him out of there faster. It's just wrong.
Meg: Yes, it is.
Grady: I wish I could speak with Detective Snyder before I leave town.
Meg: Yes, we would all like that. But Jack's brother passing away so unexpectedly, family tragedy is the only thing on everyone's mind right now.
Grady: I know. I get it. Bad timing.
Meg: Officer Grady, I will make sure that your visit out here wasn't in vain. Trust me. I will make sure that Damian Grimaldi gets exactly what he deserves.
Lily: Oh, Damian, I'm anxious enough as it is. Please don't pressure me. I'm begging you.
Damian: Oh, Lily, I promised you I wouldn't do that, and I'll keep my word. I'm just here to remind you that whatever decision you and Holden make about ending your marriage or not, I'll stand by it. I'll stand by you.
Damian: I mean that. All I ever want is for you to be happy. [Clears throat]
Lily: Holden isn't even here yet.
Holden: Yes, I am. Good morning, your honor.
Lily: Good morning.
[Holden clears throat]
Judge: I asked you both to consider your options, to decide what you each really want. Have you made your decision?
Holden: I have, your honor. My marriage is over. It's time to put an end to this.
Craig: Listen to me. Five seconds? Okay. [Sighs] I want Carly to have a support system around her when we tell her about us. Lily, Jack, maybe her A.A. sponsor. She did three months in rehab. She's come so far. Do you really want to risk unraveling all that in a heartbeat?
Rosanna: No. Okay, one more day, and we get everybody together and we tell her.
Craig: Thank you.
Rosanna: Not just doing this for her, you know.
Craig: No. I'm also doing it for you. I love you. I want to protect you. If that's wrong --
Rosanna: Who wants to be right? It's not what you think. It's not what you think.
Carly: You're not getting shy with me about this, are you?
Rosanna: [Sighs] Kind of.
Carly: Oh, no. It's not Paul, is it?
Rosanna: Paul? God no, it's not -- it's not Paul. I mean, of course, Paul is with Emily. Oh.
Carly: Oh? So, this mystery man of yours, he gives you this beautiful little nightie, and you spend the night with him, and you forget it? Is he really that distracting?
Rosanna: It's not for him. I mean, me. It's for you.
Rosanna: I got it for you while you were away. Something nice and pretty and sexy for you to have when you got back from rehab.
Carly: Oh, thank you! Yeah, well, that -- that's great. That's very thoughtful of you. Thanks.
Carly: And I hope Craig will like it, too. He's been a little reserved since I've been back. Maybe this will change all that. So, no more secrets, then, right?
Carly: Well, I practically destroyed us, keeping my drinking a secret all those months. And I'm not gonna do that ever again. So, deal? No more secrets? Ever?
Mason: All right, I'm gonna get more beer.
Noah: All right, what's wrong?
Luke: Oh, nothing's wrong, Noah. It's just that this is your thing, and I'm not part of it.
Noah: You are to me. Hey, why did you leave yesterday during the breakup scene?
Luke: I -- I wanted to get out of your way. And also, you know, I had some stuff I had to deal with, with my family.
Noah: Oh, yeah, you mentioned that before. Everything okay?
Luke: Um, no, it's just stuff with my dad and --
Mason: Hey, uh, Noah? There's a campus reporter who wants a quote from you.
Noah: Yeah, that can wait. What's up?
Luke: No, no. You know what, it's nothing. It's just the same old same old. Why don't you go do your interview? And I have to get to my meeting anyway. Go, have fun.
Noah: All right. You'll come back after?
Mason: Romeo? Duty calls.
Meg: [Sighs] Mmm. [Inhales sharply] Okay, I'll get over the sticker shock. Can't put a price on love.
Holden: Your honor -- I, uh, I can't erase what happened while everybody here thought that I was dead. I'm not angry. I'm not blaming anyone. This is what fate brought us. So, like my wife -- like Lily, I would like to move on. I would like to put the past behind me. I think it would be best for both of us to do that and to try and forget what happened and -- and just move on.
Judge: Mrs. Grimaldi, is this what you want, as well?
Judge: Then I declare your marriage to Damian Grimaldi binding.
Holden: Good luck.
Holden: [Sighs] Lily, there's nothing else to say.
Lily: I want to know why.
Holden: Didn't I tell the judge why?
Lily: You did. But if any of that is true, why did you kiss me yesterday?
Rosanna: You know, Carly, I don't want to keep secrets from you or from anybody, but -- [Sighs] While you were away, it was so important to me to do right by you, I feel like I didn't always pull that off.
Carly: Oh, sure, you did. Look at this place. It's running like a clock. The kids are great. And the difference in your relationship with Craig is amazing. You hated him. Really, I can't tell you how much it means to me that you're willing to put that aside and see the good in him like I do.
Rosanna: Yes, I do see that.
Carly: And -- and speaking of which, um, do you have any idea what's going on with him?
Rosanna: In what way?
Carly: Well, I was away for three months. And I did everything last night but, like, the dance of the seven veils to get him to stay over, but nothing.
Rosanna: I'm -- I'm sorry.
Carly: But I'm being ridiculous, right? There -- there was a funeral for his sister's husband just yesterday. I should cut him some slack. But three months? I mean, come on! Maybe if I'd had that little nightie last night, I would've gotten somewhere.
Rosanna: Oh, yeah, maybe.
Carly: Okay, well, we'll talk later. And maybe you'll stop being so coy about this man of yours.
Carly: Hey. I know him, don't I? That's why you're so discreet. All right, you tell me when you're ready.
Rosanna: Craig, I can't do this.
Craig: What happened?
Rosanna: Tell me how you do it. Tell me how you lie through your teeth and -- and -- and just feel fine about it. Because I am standing here lying to my sister, and I feel like there's a giant neon sign pointing at my head that says "Liar."
Craig: Okay, calm down.
Rosanna: I cannot get calmed down. We have to tell her, okay? You and me, the truth, today.
Craig: All right. All right, I hear you.
Rosanna: Thank you.
Craig: But I still think I should do it by myself. She is my fiancée.
Rosanna: I'm her sister!
Craig: I understand, but -- [Craig sighs] I -- I don't know. I have a feeling it'll be harder on her if we do it as a team.
Rosanna: Yeah, okay, I see your point.
Carly: Hey, I just had this great idea. Who's on the phone?
Rosanna: It's for you.
Carly: I didn't hear the phone.
Rosanna: Oh, it's Craig!
Carly: Oh. Hi, there. How's it going? How -- how's Katie? It must've been a rough night.
Craig: Oh, I, uh, I wasn't with Katie all night.
Craig: No, I -- I was with her for a while, but then I just came back to my place.
Carly: You must be exhausted.
Craig: I'm fine, but, uh, I'd like to see you this morning.
Carly: I -- I was hoping you'd say that. Can you come by?
Craig: Well, actually, I'd like to make sure that we're alone. Can you come here?
Carly: Yeah, sure, you bet. Just give me a few minutes.
Carly: [Sighs] Oh, he -- he sounded tired. And he wants to see me. So maybe it is just about what Katie's going through. You know? He's giving a lot. Now I guess it's my turn to give him something back, huh?
Lily: I had the wrong information, but you have the right information. And you still chose to walk away from us. God, Maeve really put her claws in you.
Holden: No, it's not about Maeve. Maeve left town. It was never about her. It's not even about him. It's about us. I'm not the same person who jumped out of that hayloft to find you.
Lily: I'm not asking you to be. I -- I never said that. That was a million years ago. We were kids. I'm not the same person either.
Holden: I'm not so sure about that.
Lily: What's that supposed to mean?
Holden: When things go wrong, you always look for the next person to step up and rescue you.
Lily: [Gasps] I don't believe you're saying that to me.
Damian: You know, Holden, you have no idea the strength Lily found inside herself. I mean, she knew she had to take care of your kids while you were gone, and against all odds, she found a way. You don't seem to realize just how hard that was.
Holden: Tell me something, Damian. Did you tell her all that when you convinced her to marry you five minutes after I was declared dead? I didn't think so. I guess this is the way it was meant to be. Bye.
Damian: When Holden started going after your character, I just couldn't stand there by one more minute.
Lily: Damian, please. If you say one more word about Holden --
Damian: Okay, I'm sorry.
Lily: I just want to go home. Okay?
Luke: Thanks. Hey, Dad.
Luke: How did the hearing go? That bad, huh?
Holden: They confirmed me alive.
Luke: Well, congratulations on that.
Holden: But my marriage, however, is, uh, officially dead.
Luke: Oh. Wow. I mean, I knew that you thought that might happen, but -- I'm really sorry.
Holden: Well, hey, if nothing else, at least you don't have to watch your two dads fighting over your mom anymore, right?
Luke: Look, Dad, I know that somebody had to lose in this whole mess. But, honestly, I'm really sorry that it's you.
Holden: You wouldn't wish that on Damian either.
Luke: No. I wouldn't. I guess I was just hoping for some pie-in-the-sky ending where everybody can be happy, but I guess that's completely unrealistic.
Holden: Yeah. For the three of us, it's just not gonna -- not gonna happen. But for you and Noah, things are still good, and you have to keep that up. [Sighs] Listen, Luke, I want you to know that, um -- I still do love your mom. I love her very much, but, uh, you know, sometimes you figure out that things just aren't meant to be anymore, and, uh -- and you need to let them go.
Lily: This just isn't the way it should have played out for any of us.
Damian: Look at it this way. Holden actually made it easier for you. You're free.
Lily: Easier for you, you mean. Free to be with you.
Damian: Whenever you're ready.
Lily: What if I never am, Damian?
Damian: You will be, Cara. And until you are, I'll be waiting. [Clears throat] There is a -- a board meeting at Grimaldi this morning. I should call to check on the progress. Your drink should be here momentarily.
Lily: I didn't hear you order one.
Damian: Sometimes I do things for you apparently you don't see. I'll be right back.
Damian: I'm in the middle of something.
Meg: [Sighs] Yes, with Lily. I can see that. But I thought maybe you could spare a few minutes of your precious time.
Damian: No, because you're doing this just to bait me, and I'm not interested. I'm busy.
Meg: Too busy to talk about a certain DNA test that got lost in the shuffle in Kentucky? Yeah, I thought so.
Craig: Hey. Is it raining?
Craig: Oh, I thought -- when I saw the raincoat, I, uh --
Carly: In fact, it's unseasonably hot out there. Would you mind terribly if I came in and cooled off?
Craig: Carly, Carly, Carly.
Craig: Wait. I really need to talk to you.
Carly: Oh, Craig, I was in rehab for three months. All we did was talk. I'm sick of talking. What? You want to take it off me yourself?
Craig: Carly, I'm serious. I want to talk to you.
Carly: What is it? Is it me?
Craig: No, no, it is not you.
Carly: Is it you?
Craig: Yes. It's me. And that's why I wanted you to come over here, so we could --
[Knock on door]
Craig: Let me just get rid of whoever that is. [Sighs]
Craig: Rosanna, I -- I thought we --
Rosanna: [Gasps] I know, I know. I -- I thought about it, though, and I decided that I just didn't want you to have to handle this alone. Okay?
Craig: But --
Carly: Handle what? Handle me?
Noah: Cut! That's a buy. Great. You guys, that was awesome!
Mason: They were awesome? You were awesome. You were awesome. You were awesome! You nailed that take.
Noah: What did you think?
Mason: Aww. The student has become the master. Mwah!
Noah: Uh, okay. Who kept the camera rolling after I said "Cut"?
Mason: It's all right, Sweetheart. I always end up on the cutting-room floor.
Man: It's a joke. Noah, it's a joke.
Noah: You, um -- you saw that?
Noah: You know, it's Mason. I mean --
Noah: Okay, don't be like this. I'm -- I'm not interested in Mason.
Luke: Well, he's made it pretty clear that's he's very interested in you.
Mason: Noah? [Sighs]
Noah: Not my phone, not his. Set phone.
Luke: So -- the stuff you guys shot last night looks great.
Mason: Yeah. Like I said, your boyfriend is good. Hmm. So, how much of that did you see?
Luke: Oh, the dailies? Just a little bit.
Mason: Hmm. What did you think?
Luke: Well, I got to tell you, the breakup scene between Rob and Mary -- two thumbs up.
Luke: However, I did think that the kiss at the end was a little pathetic.
Damian: Lily is waiting for me. I have to get back to her.
Meg: Aw, I know. You are always so protective of Lily. Which is why this DNA information I have is so unsettling, wouldn't you agree? You see, according to Officer Grady --
Meg: Yeah. Yeah, you remember him, don't you? 'Cause he clearly remembers you and giving you the DNA test results. You know the ones? They confirmed that the remains that were found in the wreckage of the burnt-up truck were not, after all was said and done, thank God, my brother's.
Damian: Get to the point, Meg.
Meg: The point? Hmm. Well, gosh, Damian, if it is true, it means that you asked Lily to marry you knowing full well that the body in Holden's grave wasn't Holden at all.
Damian: Now, wait a second, Meg. We both saw the accident site. I was sure there was no way he could have survived the accident.
Damian: I was trying to prevent Lily and you and your whole family from suffering even more. It was just all false hope.
Meg: Oh. Oh, but it wasn't false after all. If Jack had known of these test results -- my God, Damian, he -- he wouldn't have quit until he found out what really happened to his cousin. So -- [Scoffs] Let's, uh, just to review. If that were the case, Lily never would never have married you. You can have that.
Meg: I have more.
Damian: I want to know what you want from me.
Meg: I'm your friend, Damian. And I think you know what that means.
Lily: [Sighs] I -- [Sighs] I didn't know you'd be here.
Holden: I live here now.
Lily: I know. I -- Damian brought me here. He -- he had to make a call or something. I'm just waiting for him to come back.
Holden: He brought you here and left you alone in a bar after everything that just happened?
Lily: Just don't. Please don't.
Holden: Lily, I still care about you. Always will.
Lily: Well, then keep it to yourself. You don't get to criticize me or warn me or care about me. We're not married anymore. And the only reason we're not is you.
Rosanna: No, Carly. You -- you don't ever need to be managed. But the Mid -- Midday Sun campaign does.
Rosanna: And, um, you wouldn't believe how many crises we had when you were gone. Oh, my.
Carly: Is that right?
Rosanna: Whew! [Sighs]
Craig: Well, we'll, uh -- we'll -- we'll work out the specifics on that later. Right now, Carly and I are in the middle of something, and we need to be alone. Trust me.
Rosanna: I'm trying. I want to.
Craig: I need you to.
Craig: Please, let me handle this. Okay. Where were we?
Carly: That's what I'd like to know, Craig. What the hell was that? What am I missing here? Please don't tell me it's about vitamin water. You're a mess, you and my sister both. You want to tell me what's going on?
Craig: Carly -- [Sighs] After you went to rehab, Rosanna and I were really thrown together.
Carly: I know that.
Craig: It was essential, though. I mean, we had to run your house, we had to take care of your kids, and we had to do it in as undisrupted way as possible until you got better.
Carly: And I'll never forget that. I never will forget that.
Craig: Rosanna and I have a history. Long history. Sometimes we couldn't stand to be in the same room together. But things shifted.
Carly: I get it.
Craig: No, I don't think you do.
Carly: I do. It's to be expected. My therapist in rehab said that it would probably happen.
Craig: Your -- your therapist? How the hell would your therapist --
Carly: She says it's quite common and it happens all the time.
Craig: I -- I'm not sure we're saying the same thing here.
Carly: Well, Sweetheart, that's because you can't bring yourself to say it. So I'll say it for you. Somewhere along the line, while you were looking after my kids and my house and my responsibilities, you started to resent the hell out of me.
Craig: Oh -- oh, my God. No, Carly.
Carly: It -- it happens. The families of substance abusers -- they suffer just as much as the addict does.
Craig: Carly --
Carly: And I sensed it the first time you saw me. I sensed it last night, when you wouldn't spend the night with me. And I'm sensing it now. It's all right. I'm not hurt. You should just come out and say it. If I learned one thing while I was away, that's it. That we need to speak the truth always.
Craig: Oh, my gosh. Uh, look at the time. I was supposed to be somewhere. I'm -- I'm supposed to meet Johnny's teacher.
Carly: Oh, yeah, for what?
Craig: Well, he's been -- he's having some trouble. Spelling.
Craig: Yeah, yeah. So, tell you what. Why don't you go on home, and I'll come over after Johnny's teacher.
Carly: Can't wait.
Craig: Good. All right. [Sighs]
Carly: Craig, I'm -- I'm getting the feeling that you don't want me anymore.
Craig: Oh, Carly.
Carly: But I can show you how to prove me wrong. Spell fast.
Craig: [Sighs] Oh, God. [Sniffles]
Craig: Rosanna, I didn't do anything wrong.
Rosanna: It's okay. It's all right. Yeah, I know. I saw the whole thing. So, go ahead, say it.
Craig: Say what?
Rosanna: Think I'm horribly jealous, don't you?
Luke: You're his professor.
Mason: Yes. And for as long as I am, it's hands off.
Luke: Yeah, is that why you kissed him?
Mason: But when the term is over and when this film is done, its game on.
Luke: [Scoffs] Its game on?
Luke: Does Noah know that?
Mason: Oh. Noah is a big boy.
Mason: I'm pretty sure that he's capable of making up his own decisions as to who he should or should not be with. Tell me something, Luke. You think that your snazzy wardrobe and your last name is gonna be enough to keep you warm at night?
Noah: Hey, did I miss something?
Noah: What? Is it the dailies? Did I screw up? I mean, you can tell me. I've got thick skin.
Lily: Holden, wait. I'm sorry.
Holden: Lily, um, it's okay. Listen, we're both, uh -- we're both on the edge here, and -- you need to go just be with Damian.
Lily: He's the father of my son. Beyond that --
Holden: Yeah, beyond that, I really don't want to know. It's -- it's none of my business.
Lily: Holden --
[Elevator bell dings]
[Elevator doors open]
Holden: The thing is -- if Damian -- or anyone else ever hurts you or anyone you love -- it automatically becomes my business.
[Elevator doors closing]
Damian: This is what a friend would do. A friend would rip this up and pretend they never saw it!
Meg: You know, you think so very little of me, Damian.
Damian: There's more.
Meg: [Scoffs] I blocked Officer Grady from going to Jack. You know, he's pretty on edge after what happened to Brad.
Damian: If all that you wanted was a "Thank you" --
Meg: Yeah, that -- that would be nice.
Damian: Well, thank you. I'm very grateful.
Meg: That's very sweet. But --
Damian: Here it comes.
Meg: I don't want your gratitude. I know you don't believe me, but I want to be your friend. I do.
Lily: [Sighs] Damian! It's me. Are you there? Damian?
Meg: Ah, three's not always a crowd.
Damian: Wait, wait. Meg -- stay here. Keep it down, and don't start. Hey, hi, Lily.
Lily: "Hi, Lily"? Do you have any idea how long I've waiting for you?
Damian: I -- I know. I'm sorry.
Lily: Yeah, long enough to have a run-in with Holden that I didn't want to have.
Damian: I -- I'm sorry. This check-in call just turned into a conference call, and now they won't get off the phone. Just 10 more minutes. Please. I promise.
Lily: All right. But if you're not down in 15 minutes, I'm gonna leave.
Damian: I will. Oh, God, no.
Meg: Relax. I was actually curious about how comfortable this couch was.
Damian: Meg, why are you doing this?
Meg: I am your friend. And I worry about your health and your ability to rest peacefully. Now, don't keep Lily waiting.
Meg: Your secret's safe with me, handsome. For now.
[Elevator bell dings]
Holden: I thought you went off to see Damian.
Lily: I did.
Holden: You weren't up there for very long.
Lily: He's on a conference call. Are you okay?
Holden: Yeah, I'm fine. You?
Lily: I'm fine.
Luke: Noah, from what I saw of your film, it's great.
Noah: You're sure?
Luke: Yeah. But Mason did toss my script, and his supervision of the new direction of the project, you know, it affects me. Only human.
Mason: Aren't we all?
Noah: Did I miss something?
Mason: No. Look, with the first script and my ideas and your talent -- I mean, filmmaking truly is a collaborative effort, isn't it, Luke?
Luke: You are some collaborator.
Mason: The bottom line is, we all want to see this film be great. Right?
Noah: You have to know how harmless he is by now.
Luke: And you have to understand how stupid that sounds right now.
Luke: Noah, he kisses you when you do a good take. Whenever you're around, he's flinging his arms all around you. And if you want proof, he admitted it to me.
Luke: He said that after this project is done, it's open season.
Noah: Open season for what?
Luke: Open season for you!
Noah: I -- I don't believe that. Truly, I don't.
Luke: You think I'm lying?
Noah: No, of course not, but -- he's just a big flirt. It's meaningless. I'm with you.
Luke: I don't think Mason cares.
Noah: Well, I do. And that is enough. Look, when the film is done and Mason gives me my grade, the collaboration is over. Okay? You look really cute.
Luke: Yeah, well, you didn't get any sleep and you've been drinking beer for breakfast.
Noah: Yeah, well, you still look cute. Now, come on. I want you to be here. You're my guy.
Rosanna: It -- it's just that this is such a colossal mess, and I'm not really here out of some adolescent jealousy. I promise you, I'm -- I'm here because I'm worried about Carly and what this is gonna do to her.
Craig: Okay, I know, and she really has no idea.
Rosanna: I know. So -- just to let you know that I'm also a little bit worried about you and me and -- and what this is gonna do to us. And I feel kind of embarrassed and guilty just saying that.
Craig: I feel the same way. I'm right there with you. [Sighs] You know what, maybe we should just -- not try to fine a perfect place or the perfect time or the right environment. You know, maybe we should just -- tell Carly flat-out, no equivocations, no justifications, no stories --
Carly: When were you planning on telling me that you're sleeping with my sister?
On the next "As the World Turns" --
Katie: Stay away from me!
Henry: I'm not talking to you! I'm talking to Brad!
Carly: Did you wait till I was in detox, or did you start getting it on before I left?
Janet: Brad's dead, and Jack is off somewhere licking his wounds, so I'm really sorry if I don't give a damn about who your boyfriend is sleeping with.
Carly: What's going on?
Ben: I was hoping you can tell me. My old friend seems to be in some kind of trouble.
