Meg: Emily, paul's been in a car accident. It was bad.

Emily: But he's all right?

Meg: No.

Emily: But he's going to be, right? He's going to be fine.

Meg: Right now, we don't know if he's going to make it or not.

[ Heart monitor beeping ]

Paul: The -- the pills -- don't -- don't do it. Don't do it.

Jade: Hey. How can you listen to music without moving?

Adam: I'm working.

Jade: Oh, it's gwen. That is work.

Adam: Why don't you tell me how you really feel?

Jade: I'm teasing. So, you two really had a great time in L.A., Huh?

Adam: Yeah.

Jade: You guys -- you guys really bonded, didn't you?

Adam: I guess.

Jade: Well, I wonder how will feels about that.

Adam: Well, I would imagine will knows that's exactly what happens when two people work together for 36 hours straight. What are you doing here, anyway? I thought you had stuff to do.

Jade: It's done.

Adam: Did you have fun shopping?

Jade: Oh, I had fun. But not shopping.

Will: Okay, so you got it off your chest. Do you feel better now?

Gwen: No, not when you look at me like that, no.

Will: You made out with my brother -- gwen, my brother -- how am I supposed to look?

Gwen: No, we didn't make out, okay? It was just a kiss. I'm not telling you this to hurt you. I'm trying to do the right thing.

Will: Right. So, I can I ask you something?

Gwen: Yeah.

Will: What made you decide to do the right thing here? Why did you decide to tell me right now?

Katie: You found it. Oh, do you know how frantic I would've been if you hadn't? You gave these to me.

Mike: I remember.

Katie: Thanks for bringing it by. I was a little embarrassed to show my face at emma'S.

Mike: Why, because you started a brawl in her kitchen on christmas? Because you dragged our mess, your mess with carly, your mess with everything you touch, into a family celebration?

Katie: You're really mad.

Mike: I am mad.

Katie: All right, then you need to listen to me.

Mike: Why?

Katie: Because I know you've heard it over and over again, but mike, I am so sorry. I really am sorry. For everything.

Carly: Good-bye, simon. Captioning sponsored by procter & gamble productions, inc. And cbs if time after timeyou torture your hair,

Carly: What are you doing here?

Simon: That doesn't sound very friendly.

Carly: Does it sound scared? Because that's what I am.

Simon: It really doesn't matter what you have to say. Because that look in your eyes when you just saw me was everything I needed to hear.

Carly: Please tell me this is a coincidence.

Simon: No, it's not. I knew you were going to pick up sage from dance class.

Carly: Simon, I told you why we can't be seen together. It's dangerous. Why can't you just give it up?

Simon: I had those tickets that I bought to go to hawaii, and I was going to use mine --I was.

Carly: You should have.

Simon: No, I should have, but I couldn'T. Carly, for the first time in my life, I couldn't run away.

Carly: This is hard, I know that, I'm sorry. No, please, simon, not here.

Simon: All right, come here.

Mike: I'm sure you are sorry. You always are when things don't go exactly the way you want them to.

Katie: No, mike, it's more than that. I'm more than sorry. I -- I finally get it, okay? I can't believe I'm about to say this, but vienna was right. I shouldn't have shown up at emma's, I shouldn't have begged you to let me stay. I shouldn't have ruined the night for everyone.

Mike: What about what you did to carly? Your supposed best friend, carly?

Katie: Going after carly was just -- desperation, I guess. I foolishly thought that if I could make sure that simon got punished, that you would realize how much I cared about you. And carly just got caught in the middle.

Mike: Look, I'm not trying to be a hypocrite, all right? I have a past, I have definitely screwed up, and I know that I have hurt people.

Katie: Then that will help you to understand that I never meant to hurt you, I would never do that.

Mike: It's not just about you sleeping with simon. It's when I found out you'd go off on some wild goose chase. Some big katie drama, lots of noise, lots of excitement --

Katie: I was trying to prove how much I love you.

Mike: To get out of facing what you did to the two of us. It was just a different version of running away.

Katie: Okay. Maybe you're right -- no, I know you're right. You're right about everything. But this is over. I'm done with all of it. Mike, you are the only thing that matters to me in this world. Simon and carly, whatever happens to them from now on, will not be because of me.

Adam: So, just what is it that you did exactly that was so much fun?

[ Jade remembering ]

Gwen: Okay, I love my

Jade: Oh, really?

And that's why you're making

out with my boyfriend in L.A.

Gwen: Look, I was not

making out with him.

Jade: Whatever you want to

call it.

Just keep your hands off of him

Jade: Oh, it was just girl stuff. I wouldn't want to bore you with the details.

Adam: You do seem pretty pleased with yourself. Not that that's anything new.

Jade: I am pleased with my new dress. Mainly, I'm pleased with what your reaction to it is going to be.

Adam: You can't predict my reactions.

Jade: I got a pretty good reading on your reactions in the studio the other day.

Adam: Well, then you better be careful. This place is a lot more public.

Jade: Okay. Well, I will let you get back to work. Besides, I have to try on my dress and pick out accessories and decide about my hair. I can't believe I'll be ringing in the new year in a dress that costs more than a used car.

Adam: You know, coming from L.A., I'd forgotten that money can actually make people happy.

Jade: Money, and you.

Gwen: All right, look, I wasn't going to say anything. Okay? Because it didn't mean anything.

Will: But?

Gwen: But my mom saw, and she told jade.

Will: So you were afraid of being outed.

Gwen: Well, gee, I wonder why. I mean, jade always has my best interest at heart. She wouldn't just love for things with us to blow up.

Will: So everything would have been great if you didn't get caught?

Gwen: Look, I know that I'm the one who screwed up here, but come on, will -- I mean, it was a kiss. I've got three bases to go before I catch up with you. I'm sorry. That's not fair.

Will: No, it's fine -- because what I did is nothing compared to what you did -- you know, it's the worst thing anyone could do, and we'll never forget what I did. Except --

Gwen: Except what?

Will: That you were with my brother! My brother, gwen!

Gwen: I know -- look, in L.A., After I sang -- and it looked like we had just both made our dreams come true -- I don't know -- we were so high -- it was like being drunk. It could have been anybody. I'm making this sound worse than it is. And I don't mean to. I know that you're hurt.

Will: What, I shouldn't be?

Gwen: But please, you have to understand. You have to know that it didn't mean anything to me.

Will: Well, are you sure it didn't mean anything to him? Or did he know exactly what he was doing?

Gwen: Look, I'm going to try to explain this. You know what happened before I had to go sing.

Will: Right, iris showed up.

Gwen: Yes. And all that kept going through my head was that there was this record executive out there, and that my drunk, messed up mom was going to was going to make sure that he never got to hear me sing -- I can't tell you how much was riding on that night.

Will: Okay, that's fine. That's all great. I get that part.

Gwen: And, so, after everything that she did, you know, to try to keep me from going on stage, to get out there and to actually get through it -- it was like this huge victory for me, and for adam, too. And -- you know, you weren't there. And I just wish that you had been there.

Will: Well, that all sounds good. But the thing that gets me -- if it didn't mean anything, why didn't you just tell me when it happened?

[ Heart monitor beeping ]

Paul: The medicine -- the medicine is wrong --

Nurse #1: Mr. Ryan, you have to stay calm.

Paul: Kill -- it'll kill.

Nurse #1: No, you're going to be fine.

[ Heart monitor beeps faster ]

Emily: What was that? Is that paul?

Meg: Stay back.

Nurse #1: Call a code blue. We're losing him!

Waltz playing

Susan: Okay, we're good here.

Meg: I'll tell emily he's okay.

Susan: Great, and then you go home.

Meg: Excuse me?

Susan: Meg, your shift is over. You're no longer on duty.

Meg: It was code blue.

Susan: And you should not be nursing this patient. You are too close.

Meg: Oh, right, thanks for setting me straight.

Susan: Are you giving me attitude? I'm am just trying to help you save your job. He's okay now. Go home.

Meg: Right.

Susan: Man, oh, man, oh, man. You are more trouble than you're worth.

Meg: It happens sometimes, and as scary as it was, we have a pulse now. It just looks like it was an isolated episode.

Emily: Oh, good, thanks. I was really scared.

Meg: Yeah, me, too.

Emily: Wait, meg, I need to talk to you about something.

Meg: I know, but not here. You know, I've been relieved for the day. I know where we can go to talk in private.

Nurse #1: I should tell you what he said right before he coded. He kept talking about his medicine. He said it would kill him.

Susan: Oh, don't worry about it. Blunt trauma victims are often delusional, dogmatic -- which isn't not exactly new territory for this guy. Tell you what, you file that, I'll take care of the meds. Paul, how do you feel? You're going to have to stay calm now. Do you think you can do that?

Paul: Tired.

Susan: Yeah. Well, these will help you.

Paul: No --

Susan: Paul, paul, paul, it's okay. No, no, no, it's okay.

Paul: No!

Susan: Listen, if you fight me on this, I'm going to have to do it with an I.V.

Paul: Not green -- green, green!

Susan: It's okay.

Paul: It's not okay, it's got to be green.

Susan: No, paul -- it's okay. You're going to sleep now. Sleep. It's okay. I think you just had a bad dream.

Will: It's a simple question.

Gwen: So is -- so is the answer. Look, at first, I didn't saying anything because I didn't know what to make of it myself. I mean, it was so unreal, it was like it was happening to somebody else. And since it didn't mean anything, I thought it was better not to say anything, because -- I didn't want you to be mad at your brother.

Will: Mad at adam? Why would I be mad at adam? I only bankrolled an entire project for you guys, and then he thanks me by kissing my wife.

Gwen: Will, please. I'm being so honest with you right now. I'm telling you that if my mom didn't know, that if jade didn't know, I wouldn't have told you because I didn't think that --

Will: Because it didn't mean anything?

Gwen: Of course it didn't mean anything. There was nothing there.

Gwen: Listen, I don't want adam, I want you. When I was in L.A., I had to do this photo shoot, and I had to be sexy, and all I could think about was you, and only you.

Will: Right.

Gwen: Look, I know that he was the worst person in the world for this to happen with. And I'm not making any excuses for myself. I'm just going to try to explain. Things are going so fast right now. I mean, suddenly I'm a freshman in college, and my to-do list incorporates, like, studying for math quiz and taking the photo in some trashy dress for an album cover. And I go between those two worlds, and one of them is so new and so fast. And I don't know anything like it. There's so much adrenaline in it.

Will: You talk about your two worlds, and I'm not in either one.

Gwen: You're in both! You are both! I mean, come on, after what we've gone through in the last six months, do I actually need to convince you that I want to be with you? When I first said -- when I first admitted I that even wanted a career, you said that you wanted it for me, too.

Will: Yeah. Be careful what you wish for.

Katie: I don't know why I always try to fix things. It's like the grown-up version of, "if I don't step on one crack on the way to school, then I'll somehow, magically pass that spelling test I didn't study for." I miss seeing you smile.

Mike: It doesn't happen a lot these days.

Katie: No. I made sure of that. I remember when you gave these to me. I remember looking at them and thinking, "this guy -- this guy went to a store, which he hates, and he picked out the perfect earrings for me because he knew exactly who I was."

Mike: Nobody knows that about anyone.

Katie: You know, time with you is like -- it's unlike time with anyone else. Even sitting here with you mad at me, with you disgusted with me --

Mike: Katie --

Katie: No, don'T. It's okay. You're allowed to be, I am. I would rather be here with you than anywhere else in the world. I can not believe I screwed that up. I'm just -- I'm so sick of being me.

Mike: No, I don't want to hear this.

Katie: No, no, no, no, don't go. You don't have to forgive me right now, but please -- please don't go away.

Carly: Please -- please, don'T.

Simon: We can't just throw what we have away, carly.

Carly: Simon, my daughter is in this building. What if someone sees us? What if one of the other mothers sees us?

Simon: All right, okay. Okay, fine, I'm sorry. Listen, what we have --

Carly: Has to be over.

Simon: Why? Come on, it is so obvious how strongly we feel about each other. How can you just say that? How can you say it has to be over?

Carly: Because it does, it has to be.

Simon: I've spent the last couple of days, okay, and I couldn't stop thinking about you.

Carly: Oh, simon --

Simon: No, just listen. Christmas -- christmas, of all times -- it was awful. Because I kept thinking about you, alone, without your kids. I mean, I kept calling you --

Carly: I know you did.

Simon: So why didn't you answer? Why didn't you call me back? I mean, you didn't have to be alone.

Carly: I wasn'T. Jack asked me to the farm, I spent the day with the kids.

Simon: Good.

Carly: Good?

Simon: Good, yeah -- no, I mean it. It's good.

Carly: I thought that maybe you'd be jealous.

Simon: Yeah, like I want to see you spend christmas without your kids. Do you not ever listen to anything I say?

Carly: You want what's best for me.

Simon: Yeah.

Carly: Simon, you are not what's best for me.

Simon: Come on, there has to be a way.

Carly: I wish there were.

Simon: There has to be. There has to be. Carly, just -- I love you. And I know that you feel the same way about me.

Carly: I do. I do. Ordinary candlescan look too much alike.

Simon: Carly, I need you to understand that I never want to hurt you, ever. But we can't pretend that we don't have these mutual feelings. And what I'm asking you is to, please, just not -- don't just give up -- to try to find a way to make this work.

Carly: Simon, it can'T.

Simon: See, that's the thing I don't understand about you. You see, you're not the person -- you're not the kind of person who just gives up.

Carly: No. No, and if I choose to be with you, then I'd be choosing to give up my children.

Simon: We don't know that for sure.

Carly: Yes, we do. Simon, jack knows what we did. He's got the upper hand. The only reason that I was able to see my children on christmas is because he allowed me to.

Simon: And, what? And that's fair? No, that's not fair.

Carly: Oh, well, when it comes to jack and me, I try to avoid discussions about what's fair, because believe it or not, there was a time or two -- or 3 million -- when I wasn't exactly fair to him.

Simon: Well, you would never just stop him from seeing his kids.

Carly: Simon, he's not trying to stop me from seeing my kids. He's trying to stop you from seeing my kids.

Simon: Yeah, and that's a part of it.

Carly: Part of it?

Simon: Yeah, yeah -- pretty much, bottom line is he doesn't want you seeing me, full stop.

Carly: Jack and I are divorced.

Simon: Yeah, and he is so obviously not over you.

Carly: You know, it's not just my ex that we're up against. Katie and vienna are quite the vigilantes.

Simon: So, we just let our exes decide that we both don't get to be happy?

Carly: Simon, I think we decided that for ourselves.

Simon: I can't lose you. I can't, I won'T.

Sage: Rebecca is in the front line, and I dance way better than her.

Carly: Where did she get this competitive spirit, I wonder?

Sage: Hi, simon.

Simon: Hey, sweetie. Hey, listen, all you've got to do is tell me where this rebecca dame lives, and we will have a little talk.

Sage: She's only 8.

Simon: 8? What do you think -- yeah, you know what? I think I can take on an 8-year-old.

Sage: You're crazy.

Carly: And we're late. Now, go and get changed up so we can go, all right? Hey, you know, and if you practice a little more, you can be in the front line, too.

Simon: She's incredible. I know why your kids mean so much to you.

Carly: Simon, if you care about us -- if you care about us at all, there's only one thing you can do. Leave. Leave town, and don't come back.

Mike: This isn't fair.

Katie: I know. I know, I'm sorry. It's not fair for me to get all upset and have you comfort me --

Mike: No, no, no. I meant that I wasn't being fair. I should have said this first.

Katie: Said what?

Mike: Well, coming here, I wasn't sure that I should -- I was just going to mail you that earring and not see you.

Katie: No, thank god you did.

Mike: But I think this needs to be done face to face. I have done a lot of thinking about this, especially after christmas. I think that we should start the paperwork for the divorce.

Gwen: What are you trying to say?

Will: That you were right where you wanted to be, all set to take L.A. By storm, and you got this husband at home who just passed his ged. It must have really wowed people when you told them that.

Gwen: Wait, why go down that road?

Will: Maybe you didn't tell them. You know, maybe you didn't want to think about it yourself. I don't know.

Gwen: I'm not like that, and you know it.

Will: I do know it. And I don't blame you, gwen. You know, who wouldn't want a music contract more than a husband who's fighting to keep up?

Gwen: Look, I know I'm the one who's supposed to be in trouble here, but you're really starting to make me mad.

Will: And adam is a great guy. He went out to L.A. And he's different, and he's here and he's successful. And he wants it all big, and that's what you want.

Gwen: And you think I want that more than I want you?

Will: I know he can give you what you want. And I don't know if I can.

Gwen: I don't know why I'm so in love with such a jerk sometimes.

Will: All I'm trying to say is that you're special, and you are --

Gwen: I'm your wife. And that means more to me than anything in this whole world.

Will: Where are you going?

Gwen: I'm going to go make things right again.

Susan: What on earth are you doing?

Meg: I'm sorry. I am so sorry. I didn't think --

Emily: It's okay, it's okay.

Meg: I'm here at the farm every day, but you haven't been here since --

Emily: Forget it, meg.

Meg: I'm just so sorry. I should have thought of what it might do to you.

Emily: It's okay, meg. I don't want to talk about it. I'm fine.

M: I' makllsome tea.

Emily: That's a good idea, thank you. So, you don't know what happened to paul?

Meg: Your mom was ordering a whole bunch of tests when I left. And like I told you, it's not unusual for something like this to happen with head injuries.

Emily: Yeah. So, when he comes out it, is he going to -- I mean, will he still be paul?

Meg: Well, that's the awful thing about these cases. You have to wait to see if there's permanent damage.

Emily: Oh -- oh, my god, paul could -- he could never go slow. He could never depend on everybody for everything.

Meg: I know what you mean.

Emily: I'm sorry, I know this is hard on you, too.

Meg: I'll get through it. Yeah, I have this great cocktail prayers and denials. Here, english breakfast --

Emily: Herbal, thank you.

Meg: Herbal, yeah. Here you go.

Emily: Listen, I know I told dusty that I'd go to the D.A. And tell them what paul did --

Meg: Yeah?

Emily: Yeah, well, the thing is -- with paul like this, I don't think I can go through with it.

Meg: If you're having second thoughts about this, we could just drop the whole thing.

Emily: I don't know, maybe we should.

Meg: I'm just tired of the schemes and the games and the testosterone. I mean, dusty's in jail, and I've had all three of them in the hospital. And paul -- paul -- damn it.

Emily: Meg, meg, paul is going to be just fine.

Meg: Yeah, nothing really could ever change paul.

Emily: It must be pretty galling to have the one person who gets what you're going through be little old me.

Meg: See, it's proof of how much these men have screwed up, that you and I are on the same side.

Emily: Well, then, you know what? We gotta stop the madness. We gotta get dusty out of jail. But I just can't do it. I can't report paul while he's lying in some hospital bed.

Meg: Not that it would do any good anyway. Look, the fact that paul changed the bullets doesn't mean that dusty didn't shoot craig.

Emily: Meg, what if I had a way to put responsibility where it belongs? Would you help me?

Meg: What do you mean?

Emily: I was just thinking about craig. He has this genius for getting everybody to chase their own tails.

Meg: Yeah, with a great deal of assistance from paul and dusty.

Emily: Yeah. Well, I think I might have a way to make things right. Only I can't do it alone.

Susan: Those are for the patient in three. That can't be right. Let me see this chart. Those are the wrong pills. A patient with these allergies, that'd kill him.

Nurse #2: I'm so sorry, doctor.

[ Susan remembering ]

Nurse #1: He kept talking

about the medicine.

He said it would kill him.

Susan: Nurse, has paul ryan been out of his room? Has he been anywhere near that cart?

Nurse #2: No.

Susan: How did you know?

Adam: Hey, I was just about to call you.

Gwen: Yeah?

Adam: Yeah, look, we're all good on the demo, but I want to get back into the studio.

Gwen: It's not going to happen.

Adam: You know, you did pretty well for yourself in L.A. The other night, but that doesn't mean that everything you're going to do is going to be perfect. And this demo, it's got to be perfect.

Gwen: It's over.

Adam: What?

Gwen: I quit.

Adam: Okay, look, I can book tonight or tomorrow morning.

Gwen: No. I'm not doing that, we're not working together anymore.

Adam: What is it this time?

Gwen: I told will what happened in L.A.

Adam: You mean, you --

Gwen: That's exactly what I mean.

Adam: What the hell did you do that for?

Gwen: It says a lot about you that you even have to ask.

Adam: You know, gwen, it's not like we had an orgy, okay? We kissed.

Gwen: Yeah. Yeah, we kissed. And when will asked me what happened, I said that it was like being drunk. That I felt so high after the set, I didn't know what I was doing. And then he asked me if you knew what you were doing. I mean, did you? I mean, did you just forget that I happen to be married to your brother?

Adam: No, I have given you my time, my experience, my connections -- I'm not going to let you throw all of that away just because you happened to get married long before you grew up.

Jade: Did I leave my bag here? Oh, is that what they call creative differences?

Mike: I know how you look at the world, I know how you think. And I used to think that was great.

Katie: I don't understand.

Mike: Well, this divorce is not just about you sleeping with simon. Okay, for you, when something goes wrong, you create some big scheme, some big plan so you can stay on top of things. You know, like when I find out about you sleeping with simon -- bam, you run off to go find the diamond.

Katie: I know, and you were right about that. That's like weaseling out of what's really wrong. I won't do that anymore, I promise.

Mike: But it's not just that. Like all the drama about having a baby. Maybe you were just covering up that I wasn't enough for you.

Katie: No.

Mike: And for all I know, maybe you married me because you were trying to cover up for losing simon.

Katie: No, that's not true, mike, please --

Mike: I don't know. Look, I'm the kind of guy -- I just, I need things concrete. I need to know what I'm dealing with.

Katie: Okay, let me do that. Let me -- now that -- oh, damn it.

Kim: Oh, hi!

Bob: Hi.

Kim: Oh, it's so nice to see you two together.

Mike: Kim, bob.

Kim: I hope this means you're coming to our party.

Mike: No, I'm actually tied up tonight. But maybe katie can make it. It was good seeing both of you.

Kim: You, too.

Bob: Good to see you, mike.

Kim: Oh, katie, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt.

Katie: No, it's okay, we were -- we were finished anyway. Good to see you.

Kim: Yes, dear. Oh, boy, that was bad.

Bob: Well, at least they're talking.

Kim: Yeah, but in public places. Guys have a bad habit of dropping big bombs in public places. Controls the reaction.

Bob: When did you become a munitions expert?

Kim: It's a deep, dark secret.

Bob: Have you seen lisa?

Kim: No. Here I thought you wanted to have a few quiet moments before we go to the party. Oh, come on, sweetie. Every year you make it seem as if you're going to have a root canal.

Bob: There's a point to a root canal.

Kim: Stop being a curmudgeon.

Bob: Well, you've got to get this into lisa's safe.

Simon: Carly, that diamond is at the bottom of a landfill now. So it doesn't matter what jack thinks, 'cause he can't prove anything.

Carly: Well, simon, jack is a much better cop than you are a thief.

Simon: Ouch.

Carly: He's giving us a pass right now. But if you stick around and he sees us together, then the investigation becomes front and center again.

Simon: And if I do what you say and run, then I look as guilty as hell.

Carly: You are guilty as hell.

Simon: And you would rather give up being happy than see him hurt again.

Carly: No, no, no. No, this is a pragmatic decision. What is going to keep me out of jail? Well, not antagonizing the cop who could put me there, for starters.

Simon: And you keep steering this conversation away from the only thing that seems to really matter right now.

Carly: Which is what?

Simon: That we're in love.

Carly: Well, simon, after a lot of thought, I've come to the conclusion that love stinks.

Simon: And you are going to have to do a lot better than that to make me just walk away from you.

Gwen: You know, I hate to ruin your fun, but I told will what happened in L.A., So you can't threaten me with that anymore.

Jade: Until you come on to adam the next time.

Gwen: And I think you will be very happy to know that adam and I are no longer working together.

Jade: Working? That's a nice word for it.

Gwen: Hey -- I've got an idea. Why don't you take singing lessons. Huh? And make yet another pathetic attempt to live my life?

Jade: Now, why would I want to do that? Your life doesn't seem too good right now, does it?

Gwen: It seems okay to me.

Jade: It seems like you slipped off that pedestal you enjoy so much. It must have been a really new experience for will to be able to get off his knees and stop begging for forgiveness to st. Gwen of the holy perfection.

Gwen: You know, at least I don't have to go around trying to live somebody else's life 'cause I'm so unhappy with my own.

Jade: Please, that is not why I did this. I thought it would be nice for will to know he was married to a human being. With flaws!

Gwen: That's it. You just hate me, don't you?

Jade: Sorry, sweetheart. You kissed your husband's brother. And as much as you're dying to, you can't make that my fault. I just hope that will remembers how forgiving you are.

Adam: So, you have any plans to become an adult in the near future?

Will: What do you want?

Adam: I want to know what kind of man tells his wife to quit her -- well, we're talking about a dream here. That's a little bit more than a job, right?

Will: What?

Adam: Because he's threatened by it.

Will: I'm not threatened by her dream, and I'm sure as hell not threatened by you. And I never told gwen to quit her job.

Adam: No, no, not directly. Of course not. No, you did it in that will sort of way. You know, I little bit of hurt mixed with a whole lot of guilt.

Will: Are you sure she didn't quit because she found out what kind of guy she's actually dealing with?

Adam: Right.

Will: You know what? You might be all that in L.A., But here, it doesn't change the fact that you're a guy that came on to his brother's wife.

Meg: Craig, it's me, meg. Yeah, real funny. Listen, I need to talk to you about something, but not over the phone. Do you think maybe you can meet me? Say tonight?

Paul: Where's meg?

Susan: She left, with emily. I wonder what those two have to talk about. Good times with paul ryan?

Paul: I'm in your hospital. Shouldn't you be nice to me?

Susan: I saved your life. Don't press your luck. What? What, are you in pain?

Paul: No, the -- the pills -- it's the wrong pills, they're supposed to be green.

Susan: No, no, it's okay, it's okay. Nothing happened. But how did you know about it?

Paul: I saw it.

Carly: This would all be great, if we were kids and we could do anything for love. But we're not kids, simon. And I can't act like one, because I have them.

Simon: And I would never do anything to hurt them.

Carly: Not intentionally. But you and me, we make a lot of unintentional mistakes. We cause a lot of unintentional pain.

Sage: Can simon come get a treat with us?

Carly: No, sweetheart, he can'T. Don't make me say good-bye in front of her.

Simon: You hide behind them, carly. They want to see you happy, too.

Sag he e:Oked sad. Maybe we should ask him to come to dinner.

Carly: No, honey. We're not going to be seeing simon so much anymore.

Sage: Why not?

Carly: You'll understand someday. So, about that snack. What shall it be? Ice cream, sushi? Ice cream and sushi mixed up together?

Kim: Somebody in maintenance found this in the disposal bin?

Bob: Yeah, why would anybody throw this away, especially at a hospital.

Kim: Oh, oh, oh, now, we don't have an extradition treaty with brazil, do we?

Bob: This does not belong to us.

Kim: Hey, finders keepers. Think about it.

Rio rio by the sea-o oh, honey, think about us -- you and me, on the beach, pina coladas --

Bob: Mm-hmm, being taken away by the police. No, this is going into the safe, where it will be safe.

Kim: Mm-hmm.

Bob: And we will be safe from temptation.

Kim: Yes, dear. But, do me a favor before you take it away and break my heart. Just hold it up to the light.

Announcer: On the next "as the world turns" --

Will: I just saw adam. He said you quit.

Gwen: Yeah, I thought it's what was best.

Will: Well, you thought wrong.

Katie: Once jack gets a hold of this, simon will be going to jail before anyone can sing "auld lang syne."

Meg: We're already late for the party. You'd better hurry and change.

Craig: I'll be right back. What the hell?
