Elwood: Hey, Man.
Casey: Yo, yo, what's up, Man? Hey, check this out.
Elwood: Oh, sweet. Listen, is now a good time?
Casey: Yeah, do you have it?
Elwood: I do. But maybe we should go someplace else?
Casey: No, it's just a make-up test. Give it to me.
Elwood: Fine. Listen, Dude, you don't know how hard it was for me to swipe this, all right? Professor Reynolds is a workaholic. The man doesn't even leave his desk.
Casey: Yeah, I got it. I got it. I owe you one. Just don't -- just don't tell anyone about this. Because Maddie’s on the way here. I don't want her to know about this.
Elwood: Well, then you want some advice? Don't blow another test.
Maddie: You failed your exam?
Simon: I missed you.
Carly: I wasn't gone that long.
Simon: Gone long enough -- I didn't know what to do with myself.
Carly: Well you do what everybody does on Thanksgiving -- eat, and then eat some more. Then watch football.
Simon: Well, I prefer rugby and thinking of you.
Carly: Awe, that's nice, I like that.
Simon: Well I like seeing you wear your necklace.
Carly: Yeah, you know I'm still a little uncomfortable traipsing around town wearing this thing.
Simon: Well, first of all, you don't traipse -- yeah, continue.
Carly: The point is, what if somebody finds out that this is one of the diamonds from the necklace we stole from Vienna.
Simon: There not going to because nobody knows we did it. And besides it's a reminder of our very first, passionate night together.
Carly: So what, so it's a sort of a turn-on for you?
Simon: A turn-on?
Simon: What do you think?
[Door bell rings]
Simon: No, no.
Carly: I got a get it. No, it might be important.
Simon: You're not getting -- you're not getting --
Carly: Oh, Lucinda hi.
Lucinda: Happy Thanksgiving.
Carly: You too.
Lucinda: I have something for Simon -- ooh, ooh my, that's very pretty.
Lucinda: Is he here?
Carly: Yes, as a matter of fact.
Lucinda: That's more than pretty, that's more than pretty -- that's beautiful.
Carly: Thank you.
Lucinda: Yeah -- umm --
Simon: Hey, Lucinda how are you?
Lucinda: Happy Thanksgiving.
Simon: Oh, you too.
Lucinda: I have much to be thankful for this year, as you probably know it. I was at the hospital and someone gave me a present and I thought I would just pass it on to you because you might need a drink.
Lucinda: The new edition of "Oakdale Confidential" is out and thanks to Katie all of us in this little town, we know more than we ever wanted to know about the pair of you.
Katie: You know how you start something, and it's never your intention to hurt anybody, but you end up hurting everybody?
Katie: I've made a career out if it.
Henry: Well, you spilled your guts in a moment of anger and panic and then you sold it for the whole world to read.
Katie: I was just so upset, I didn't stop to think about all the people this would hurt. It happened so fast.
Henry: Look on the bright side. Maybe the thing will be a flop and they'll pull the book from the shelves. Problem solved.
Katie: Henry, you're a genius.
Katie: Excuse me -- are these on sale yet?
Bookstore clerk: Absolutely -- how many would you like?
Katie: All of them.
Emma: I can't remember when I've seen you this happy.
Meg: I am. I finally feel like everything's going to be okay. And I owe a lot of that to you.
Emma: To me? Oh yeah, what did I do?
Meg: You accepted the fact that I'm not going to change my mind about Paul. That I want to spend the rest of my life with him. I know that wasn't easy for you.
Emma: No, it wasn’t. But then Paul and I share a few of the same things, we both -- we both love you very, very much. And we want you to be happy more than anything else.
Meg: Well you don't know how much that means to me.
Emma: Oh, yes, I do. Cause I can see it's written all over your beautiful, beautiful face.
Meg: You know Paul’s going to be just as excited as I am about moving the wedding date up. Thank goodness Holden and Lily are okay with having the ceremony at their place.
Emma: Well, what are you waiting for? Are you making all these wonderful plans, why haven't you informed the groom? Why haven't you called him?
Craig: So are you sure you weren't seen?
Emily: Yeah, I'm sure. I switched the bullets from Dusty’s gun and I replaced them with the blanks you gave me just like you asked me.
Craig: To a job well-done. Is there something else?
Emily: Yeah, you bet there's something else. I'm running around town doing your dirty work, I want to know when I'm gonna get what I want out of this partnership?
Craig: So you're unhappy with our arrangement?
Emily: That's one way of putting it, yes. I'm jeopardizing my future for you and I still have no idea how setting up Dusty is gonna get me any closer to Paul.
Craig: Emily, everything you're doing is leading up to the payoff of a lifetime. You have my word.
Emily: Don't over estimate my loyalty to you Craig because I'm in this for me and if you think for a second I'm going to let another man play me for a fool than you've gotta be --
Craig: Careful Dear, careful Dear. That's awfully close to making it sound like a threat. That's the last thing you want to do.
Emily: Why's that?
Craig: Well, so to remind you that without me, you are nothing. You have no job. No closer to Paul. And you certainly have no credibility.
[Cell phone ringing]
Craig: Hello, Sweetness.
Lucy: Please tell me you've changed your mind about contesting Johnny’s adoption.
Craig: Sorry, I can't do that.
Lucy: Daddy, didn't you hear me the first time? Dusty has a gun. He has a gun and he's looking for you.
Craig: Yes, I know that's why I've agreed to meet with him.
Lucy: Where are you? Is Dusty with you?
Craig: No, I'm at the Lakeview. Enjoying a drink.
Lucy: A drink? You're not taking any of this seriously.
Craig: No, my son's life is at stake, Lucy. Of course I'm taking it seriously.
Lucy: Okay, don't leave. I'll come there.
Craig: No really, you don't have to. Everything is okay, no need.
Lucy: You didn't see Dusty when he got those custody papers. I did. Challenging Johnny’s adoption, you've backed him into a corner. He feels trapped.
Craig: He doesn't know the first thing about being trapped.
Lucy: Promise me you won't do anything until I get there.
Craig: It's already done. I agreed to meet him at the garage here and we're going to hash it out like men, with some chest-thumping and the occasional raised voice. He's not going to bring a gun. Dusty knows that's not the solution.
Lucy: Dusty doesn't want to compromise! He wants you out of Johnny’s life for good!
Craig: Lucy umm, sorry I'm losing you -- Honey, I'm lose –
[Craig hangs up his phone]
Emily: Hey, Lucy.
Lucy: Oh, Emily, you have to help me. You're the only one who can save my dad.
Meg: I left Paul a message and he doesn't seem to be rushing to return my call -- guess he's angry.
Emma: Well, call him again. What? You don't want to be the first one to reach out and make the first move.
Meg: No, because Paul usually does that.
Emma: Oh, I see, I see. So you expect him to just step up every time there's a disappointment or there's hurt feelings -- well, my sweetheart I don't think it works that way. Listen, if you want to make a life with this man your gonna have to own up to part of what's wrong, you're gonna have to take part of the responsibility for making it right. Go ahead and call him, call him again.
[Cell phone rings]
Maddie: How could you fail your exam? I mean, I know how you could fail an exam, but you -- I thought you were going to pull an all-night --
Casey: Look, I did.
Maddie: You know, I should've just stayed with you. I could've helped you study. I could've made you flashcards or something --
Casey: It's not because you didn't help me study. I didn't take the test. I stayed up all night studying, and worked on it, and worked on it. But then I, like, I don't know, I crashed and I slept through my alarm. Stupid, right? Right, Elwood?
Elwood: Yeah, right. You know I told him, you know I said, don't set your alarm to the radio. You know, set it to the buzzer. You know, what can you do, remember that when you get to college.
Casey: So, see, it's not because you didn't help me study.
Elwood: You know, Casey, I should really get going. Maybe you want to show me that thing later --
Casey: Yeah, no in a minute. I'm going to be right back I'm going to show him this.
Elwood: Well, you still want to go shopping right? You wanted to pick up a couple of copies of your Aunt Katie’s book.
Casey: Yeah, this will take two seconds. They're not going to sell out by the time I get back.
Adam: Hey, Maddie.
Maddie: Adam, hi.
Adam: I know that look. All right, how much of a butt-kicking has my little brother earned now?
Bookstore clerk: Hey, that's you!
Katie: Yes, I am the author.
Bookstore clerk: You don't have to buy a copy, you can have as many you want. We have plenty of boxes in the back.
Katie: Boxes? Oh, yeah. No, thanks. Never mind. Yup, it's official. My life in Oakdale is over as I know it. I might as well pack my bags and get the hell out of here.
Henry: There is no way you are leaving me alone in this burg.
Katie: Be smart. Let me go so I don't ruin your life, too.
Henry: Hey, your pen is mighty, but I am indestructible.
Katie: I could have stopped it, you know. With Simon. There was a moment there, there was a second where I could have remembered what was important to me, but I didn’t.
Henry: We've all been there.
Katie: But I've hurt Mike so much. And now, everyone's going to know how awful I was. And I can't even make an excuse for myself because there are no excuses.
Henry: You made a mistake. You made a big mistake. But all is not lost.
Katie: Really? Name one person whose life isn't messed up because of me.
Katie: Snickers is a rabbit.
Autograph hound #1: Ooh, your book changed my life!
Katie: My book?
Autograph hound #1: Yeah, the way that Katie character follows her heart. I mean, that's me. Okay, that's what I do!
Autograph hound #2: It's true, she does. Which is why I want to kill her sometimes. The paper didn't mention anything about a signing, but -- will you?
Katie: Oh, I don't know.
Henry: Listen, absolutely. She would be happy to do a signing. If you just line up right over here. Oakdale's premiere author will be signing as many books as you care to buy.
Katie: Okay, okay, why are you encouraging them to buy the book?
Henry: Well, because your fragile little ego needs a boost right now before everything hits the fan. And if you're going to start a new life, then I think your wallet's needs a boost as well, okay? Trust me. That's right! She'll be signing right here. Just line up there single file. Single file, please. Single file. Come on, those are wonderful shoes, by the way. Let's see, anybody else -- that's right, that's right. There you go.
Simon: Of course, I don't need a reason to drink. But Katie wrote about us?
Carly: Oh, she wouldn’t. She wouldn't, would she? I'll kill her. What did she say?
Lucinda: What did she say? What didn't she say? She outdid herself.
Carly: Listen, what exactly did Katie write?
Lucinda: Now, I wouldn't want to ruin the ending for you.
Simon: Okay, how about just some highlights?
Lucinda: Okay, all right. Con man, Simon Frasier comes back to Oakdale. He carelessly seduces our heroine, Katie, who is happily married to Mike. Well, maybe not so happily married.
Carly: Look, if Katie wants to publish her business and her life, that's fine but me, as long as she leaves me out of it.
Lucinda: Oh, then let me get to this part. You see, con man, Simon Frasier, he dumps our heroine Katie for a conniving slut.
Carly: Excuse me?
Lucinda: In the book. In the book.
Carly: Lucinda! How could you publish something like this?
Lucinda: Well, I didn't hold her hands to the keyboard --
Carly: You know, I ought to sue. I ought to sue you, too.
Lucinda: Me, what for?
Carly: For being involved in the slander of me -- and libel and so forth --
Lucinda: Well, look Darling. This is a work of fiction. And nobody sued the last time around.
Carly: But you do understand that I have children. My boys, Parker and J.J., they're in school. You know how school can be. You know how kids can be.
Lucinda: Maybe you should have given that some thought. Think about your kids, sooner rather than later.
Simon: All right, okay, that's enough.
Lucinda: Um, okay, look, Simon, you will understand that this is actually cracking good business, as an entrepreneur, you'll appreciate that. And you know, that from my point of view, there was nothing personal.
Carly: Oh, please. Please.
Lucinda: Okay, now let's look at all of this from a different perspective. Actually, and inadvertently, I may have done you both a favor.
Carly: Unless that favor is recalling every single one of Katie's trashy little books, then I fail to see the part where I thank you for this favor.
Lucinda: You two are trying to put yourself on the map as real estate entrepreneurs, right? I have raised your profile. This book is a best-seller. Tons of PR. So, maybe next year, maybe even Thanksgiving, you'll thank me. And if you do, I shall most gracious.
Simon: Okay, I'm officially speechless. I had no idea Katie could pull a stunt like this.
Carly: We've got to read this book. Now.
Maddie: I don't know, something's going on with him. And I just -- I don't get it. We were supposed to go to this film festival. And I was really excited about it, I thought he would be, too. And then he said he had to study for exam and he was going to pull an all-nighter.
Adam: Casey and an all-nighter -- with books? I can't picture that at all.
Maddie: Yeah, I know. It's definitely not his thing. And according to him, he stayed up all night studying, and he fell asleep and he didn't hear his alarm in the morning. So, he missed the class.
Adam: And you don't believe him?
Maddie: Well, I don't know. It's just something about the way that he said it -- it didn't seem right. Why would he lie to me? Well, what's he think that I'm not going to understand that, he would rather be out partying, then studying on a weeknight?
Adam: He knows how good you are in school, he's probably embarrassed.
Maddie: The thing that hurts the most is the summer that we've been through, and everything that we had to deal with -- I thought that finally we are getting back to normal. He was really excited about school and I thought that we were getting closer. But maybe I'm wrong.
Adam: You know what I think? I think it's nothing. This is just casey adjusting to college, and you know, living on his own. You'll go through the same thing.
Maddie: Yeah, but I'm not and that's the problem.
Adam: What do you mean?
Maddie: The last thing a college guy like Casey needs is a girl in high school.
Henry: Okay, ladies and you sir in the back -- we're going to take a little break here. We are going to make sure our star doesn't get carpal tunnel, okay? Just a little break.
Katie: I want to go home, Henry. I feel like celebrating this book is saying what I did to Mike was worth it.
Henry: This has nothing to do with what you did to Mike. This is about you, the artist, the professional. And people are here to honor that.
Katie: You know what --
Henry: If -- if you don't believe me, do you want to buy that, then buy this. For every book that they sold here, that is money in the bank. And you can never have too much that, bubbles, trust me.
Katie: All right, when "Oakdale Confidential" first came out, and I was anonymous, it drove me crazy. Sometimes I just -- you know the praise and honor, and the people in line, I would have loved that. I wanted that. I thought it would make me happy. But you know what? Without Mike, it just doesn't mean anything.
Henry: I know. Fame -- fame isn't everything, okay? But there are worse things to be left with, Katie.
Katie: Like a broken heart?
Henry: Come on, kiddo, you're killing me. I know I'm no Mike. We tried that once and it didn't work. But I am your friend. Always.
Carly: Well, that's nice. You better stay close to him, Katie. Because after this, you're not going to have a friend in the world.
Lucy: Emily, my father won't listen to me. And I've tried, but I can't get through to Dusty either.
Emily: He would never do anything that would bring danger to Johnny.
Lucy: He has a gun and if you don't think he's going to aim straight for my father, you're crazy.
Emily: If there's one thing your father excels at, it's taking care of himself. Believe me.
Lucy: He has no right to take Johnny from Dusty. I could've put him away when I went to court, but and I didn’t. Now Dusty thinks that it is his job and he doesn't care what happens. He'll do whatever it takes, even lose his own freedom.
Emily: Just relax, okay? The gun could just be a scare tactic.
Lucy: It's not. I thought you cared about Johnny.
Emily: I do. I love Johnny. My little girl saved his life.
Lucy: Then how can you let him be taken from the only father he's ever known? Dusty kept you from going to prison, Emily.
Emily: I know that. And I feel awful about what he's going through right now. But even if I wanted to help Dusty, there's no guarantee he'd let me.
Lucy: What about my father? I mean, you're friends with him or at least business partners.
Emily: I have little influence over your dad.
Lucy: If Dusty hurts my father, he goes to jail. And I'll lose him for good!
Emily: Relax, okay? And just know that nobody is going to get hurt.
Lucy: How can you say that? How do you know that?
Emily: I just know, okay? You're going to have to trust me on this one.
Lucy: Okay, Emily. What do you know that I don't?
Meg: Anyway, I want you to know that I'm feeling better about us. And I know I didn't sound that way before and I'm sorry. But if you can, why don't you come out to the farm when you get this. There's something I want to tell you, and I think you're going to love it.
Dusty: Is that your phone, Montgomery? At least come out where I can see it.
Craig: Here I am, Donovan. As requested. Well, I suppose hello is too much to ask.
Dusty: I'm not here to talk.
Announcer: Coming up on "As the World Turns."
Carly: You're married, Katie! Or have you forgotten about Mike? You know, the guy that you said you wanted to spend the rest of your life with?
Katie: Shut up!
Adam: Difference is, I'm not lying to the people that I care about.
Maddie: Why are you guys fighting?
Paul: I love you and I know how lucky I am to have you.
Meg: What about Craig?
Dusty: What's worth more? Your life or a child who is going to grow up to hate you?
Craig: I chose my child.
Dusty: So, be it.
Adam: You honestly think Casey cares you're still in high school?
Maddie: Why wouldn't he? He's in college, he's becoming an adult. And I'm stuck in a place where people still think it's cool to be on prom committee.
Adam: You're also smart.
Adam: And funny and pretty and incredible in about 50 other ways you don't need me to tell you about. Come on, you're the best thing to happen to my brother since the invention of the mp3 player.
Adam: You're welcome.
Maddie: Are you going to be here for a while?
Adam: Yeah, yeah, it's my first time out of the studio in forever. I just thought I'd do some people watching, and try not to think for awhile. Why?
Maddie: There's a sweater that I saw in one of the stores last time I was here, and I think Casey would love it.
Casey: So, I'll take you back to the dorm.
Elwood: Yeah, see you later.
Casey: What's the story, Morning Glory?
Adam: Seems to me, you're the one with the story to tell.
Henry: Let's all remember that we are in a public place.
Carly: Right, and Katie is suddenly interested in discretion?
Simon: How could you do this, Katie?
Henry: Actually, the book signing was my idea.
Simon: Only, no, no, you want to get back at me? You want to hurt me? Go ahead. Give me your best shot. You know, write as many books as it takes to get it out of your system. But why drag Carly into this mess? All right, she's got nothing to do with any of this.
Katie: I did not create this situation, Simon. In fact, I warned you that he would ruin your life just like he ruined mine.
Carly: Oh, come off it. You're not worried about me. You're jealous. You're jealous because Simon is moving on, and moving on with me. And that's one less person to pay attention to you. So, you certainly fixed that, haven't you?
Katie: I'm an author. I'm supposed to give up my life's work just because you have a problem with it?
Simon: Oh, come on, come on, writing has gotten nothing to do -- this is not your life's work, this little tell-tale is nothing more than an act of revenge.
Katie: Where do you get off judging me after what you've done? Or is jumping from one lover's bed to the next something that you're proud of?
Carly: Oh, you're such a hypocrite!
Katie: Excuse me?
Carly: You're married, Katie. Or have you forgotten about Mike? You know, the guy that you said you wanted to spend the rest of your life with?
Katie: Shut up.
Carly: Oh, right. Because we're supposed to conveniently forget that you cheated on your husband when you had sex with Simon.
Henry: At the risk of being assaulted by everyone present here, have either of you actually read the book?
Carly: I wouldn't waste a moment of my time.
Henry: Okay, maybe buy a copy, skim it, and that way you can have a well-informed conversation.
Carly: Not a chance.
Katie: They wanted me to apologize. They have each other and I'm supposed to feel bad? No way.
Henry: Sing it, Sister!
Katie: You know what that was, Henry? That was exactly what I needed. I am so done feeling sorry for myself. Nobody bounces back better than Katie Frasier! Kasnoff! Nobody bounces back better than me. And I'm going to prove it. Let's sign some books!
Henry: Hey! Let's sign some books, folks! Single file, please. Single file. Let's step over this way.
Emily: I don't know anything. I wish I did.
Lucy: If I go to the police and report this, Dusty could lose Johnny. And if I don't, and Dusty uses that gun on my father --
Emily: I don't envy your position. Honey, I really don't, but maybe it's best if you just let these two men have it out.
Emily: Just put the gun aside for a minute, okay, and think about it. If Dusty and your father take this to the courts, it's going to drag on for years. And poor Johnny, I mean, he's already been through so much after he lost Jennifer. You really want him growing up with all this fighting around here?
Lucy: I have to go.
Emily: Where are you going?
Lucy: The parking garage at the Lakeview. That's where they're meeting. And don't try to stop me --
Emily: I'm not. I'm not and if you think something's going to happen between Dusty and your father, then you need to go. You need to be there. So you can see for yourself that everything's going to work out for the best.
Craig: And here I thought you'd called me down here on good faith.
Dusty: You know why you're here.
Craig: Well, I hope it's not so you just wave that thing at my face. I'm not a big fan of guns.
Dusty: You love making people do your dirty work for you.
Craig: Oh, I see. You're still holding a grudge because Lucy chose to defend me over you in court?
Dusty: You scared her.
Craig: Clearly you think it's a strategy worth trying.
Dusty: What? This? I don't want to use this.
Craig: At all? Or just on me?
Dusty: Do you recognize these? These are the paper you drew up challenging my son's adoption.
Craig: Was there a typo?
Dusty: Tear them up. Tear them up and leave town.
Craig: Do you think you're in a position to bully me around because you have a gun? I'm the one who is wronged here.
Dusty: Oh, really? Wronged? With what you did to your wife, to your daughter?
Craig: What I did? I lost my wife. I was blamed, tossed in jail. And you and Jennifer --
Dusty: Don't say my wife's name -- -
Craig: You and Jennifer used that to steal my son.
Dusty: Johnny's not your son.
Craig: And it didn't stop there, did you? You went after Lucy, too. You thought she was weak. You thought that she would just -- you would say a few sweet nothings in her ear and she'd turn against her old man. But she's smarter than you, isn't she, Dusty? And do you know why she chose me? Because blood is thicker than all the happily-ever-afters you can string together. It's truly a shame that you can never really understand that.
Dusty: Why wouldn't I? My wife left me with a son. To raise, to love. To teach how to be a man.
Craig: Oh, and this is how you be a man, huh? To lure an unarmed man, to a parking garage, and threaten him with a gun --
Dusty: I'm not going to ask you again!
Craig: And what are you going to do, huh? What are you going to do if I don't?
Dusty: I'm going to leave you on the floor dead.
Casey: So, what's with the attitude?
Adam: Maddie was just here. She told me you tanked an exam.
Casey: Why is she talking to you about that?
Adam: I'm going to go with, because she can't talk to you. Seriously, sleeping through the alarm?
Casey: So, she doesn't believe me, and sends you to trip me up?
Adam: Whoa, paranoid, relax. That's not what I'm doing.
Casey: I wouldn't lie to Maddie, okay? I wouldn’t.
Adam: Man, you're really going to mess this up.
Casey: You know what? I don't need you to tell me how to treat my girlfriend.
Adam: I may have spent the last few years in L., Spoken to you what? Half a dozen times on the phone? And it still too me all of two seconds to realize that you weren't up studying all night, which means Maddie probably figured it out even faster. She doesn't deserve that.
Casey: And you never told a lie before? Not once?
Adam: I work in the music business. I lie every time I pick up the phone.
Casey: So, why is it okay for you, and not okay for me? Because you're an L.A. hotshot, right?
Adam: The difference is, I'm not lying to the people I care about, okay?
Maddie: Why are you guys fighting?
Carly: I wanted to strangle Katie right there in front of the bookstore. She's so delusional! She refuses to take responsibility for anything. It's all our fault, right? We've hurt her, it's our fault. We're the reason that her life is a disaster.
Simon: Okay, shh. Just calm down.
Carly: I really don't want to calm down.
Simon: You need to try.
Carly: What I want to do is read the book and find out what I'm so mad about.
Simon: Maybe I can arrange that.
Carly: No, no, no. I'm not going to give her the satisfaction of spending one red cent on that stupid book.
Simon: Okay, there it is. Not one red cent spent.
Paul: I'm Paul. And, look, I'm only here because you invited me. If you like, I can just --
Emma: Come on in. What is this? Come in, come in. Well, you better put that away or I rather make you dust something with it.
Paul: Yes, ma'am.
Emma: Well, we missed you at dinner. Sorry you couldn't make it.
Paul: Thank you.
Emma: Yeah, you were missed. Well, I'll see you in a little bit.
Paul: What did you put in her butternut squash?
Meg: I love you.
Paul: And I love you.
Meg: And I can't picture spending one life with anyone who isn't you. So I have an idea.
Paul: Well, okay, but I mean, Emma is just in the next room.
Meg: You are terrible. Stop! What do you say the two of us get married?
Paul: Meg, you don't remember, I've asked you to marry me ten different times.
Meg: I meant, get married next week. Holden and Lily will supply the place. And Mama's so excited, she's in the other room planning how far she can seat Barbara without being too obvious. And now all we need is for you to say yes.
Craig: I tear up these papers, my lawyer just draws up another set.
Dusty: Not if you're dead.
Craig: And so what happens to Johnny if you kill me? You plan on raising him from inside a prison cell?
Dusty: Whatever it takes.
Craig: But if you're not around, then what, genius?
Dusty: Are you going to tear up the papers? Or not.
Craig: These papers don't matter. They're a formality. I could tear them up, but you still won't beat me. If you want me to strip you of your claim to Johnny in open court, I will. Just show up. No problem. I seem to do quite well in front of a judge these days. You know, I've had enough of this farce, all right? You know, Jennifer, she made some poor choices in her life, but you -- you were the worst.
Dusty: Time's up. What's worth more? Your life? Or a child who's going to grow up to hate you?
Craig: I choose my child.
Dusty: Wrong answer.
Craig: Well, then shoot me, you punk! Come on! And your life is over.
Dusty: So be it.
Adam: We're not fighting, Maddie. We're cool. Right, Case?
Casey: You ready? I want to get out of here.
Maddie: Casey --
Casey: I don't feel like shopping, Maddie.
Maddie: I thought you wanted to pick up Katie's book?
Casey: If you want to, go ahead. Honestly, I just want to go home and study for my make-up exam. If that's all right with everyone.
Adam: Don't be like that.
Adam: I'm sorry.
Maddie: It's not your fault.
Katie: Thanks so much.
Henry: You know I'm very proud of you.
Katie: Signing my name is the easy part.
Henry: I'm talking about the way you handled Simon and Carly.
Katie: I thought we didn't want to talk about that. Thank you.
Henry: Just a second, you said it was exactly what you needed.
Katie: It was. Because it made me see that I wrote this book for myself, as a way to work things out. And I'm not sorry that I wrote it. These people in line aren't sorry that I did. So, I'm not going to apologize to people like Simon and Carly, just so they feel better about themselves at my expense.
Henry: Wow! That's my girl.
Henry: Listen, yeah. Do you mind if I take off? The other literary agents are meeting at the Lakeview to have a drink. I don't want to be a no-show.
Katie: Oh, yeah, enjoy your 10%. Thanks, Henry.
Henry: Any time.
Katie: Next -- you should I make it out to?
Mike: To my ex.
Simon: All right, all right, here's another gem. "I kept resisting Simon after he moved back to Oakdale and even after he went into business, and other things with Carly" --
Carly: Does she think that's cute? Who told her she could write, anyway?
Simon: At least, so far, nothing too incriminating.
Carly: Well, let's hope it stays that way. You know, she didn't write the most flattering things about me the first time around, and everything turned out okay. And it's not like you and I are any strangers to being gossiped about. So, and the fact is, if the book is as successful as Lucinda says it will, then really then it might work in my favor. You know, it might help me out of those awkward conversations I've been forced to have. So, if somebody asks me what happened with Jack and asked if I'm seeing somebody else, I can just say, hey, why don't you --
Carly: Why do you look like that? What's wrong?
Simon: Oh, maybe we should have read ahead.
Simon: This book? It's a lot worse than I thought.
Meg: So, I take that as a yes.
Paul: All I wanted was to marry you.
Meg: And you're okay with it being next week at Holden and Lily's? With my entire family?
Paul: I like your family, for the most part.
Meg: And you're okay with giving up on the whole Fiji thing?
Paul: Can I kiss you again? Maybe I don't say this enough. Maybe I say it too much, I don't know. But I do love you. And I know how lucky I am to have you.
Meg: What about Craig?
Paul: Nobody's lucky to have Craig.
Meg: I meant, is he going to be a problem for us again?
Paul: Something tells me Craig has taken his last shot at us.
Lucy: Daddy! Daddy! Daddy, oh, my God! Daddy! Please, please, open your eyes! Please? Please? Daddy!
Announcer: On the next "As the World Turns."
Katie: I love you and I hate Simon. And I wrote this to prove that to him. I don't care. As long as Simon's hurt, I'm happy.
Simon: She wrote about the jewel theft.
Carly: Our jewel theft?
Simon: She says that we stole the crown jewels the night of the costume ball.
Meg: How are you different, Paul? Something happened tonight. What was it?
Lucy: No, please? Daddy, Daddy, stay with me. Please don't die.
