Jack: So your life's a mess, and it's all your fault?

Carly: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I know this isn't fair to you, Jack.

Jack: No, wait -- hey, listen, what do I care about being fair? You want to hear something really weird? I kind of felt you walk through that door before it ever happened.

Carly: Don't say that. You'll just make me feel worse.

Jack: About what?

Carly: I know that you warned me about Simon, Jack --

Jack: Yeah, I figured we were getting to him. What's he done now?

Carly: It's what I've done. I picked the wrong guy.

Katie: I don't care about your life right now, Simon. My husband hates me. My marriage is over. So pardon me if you and your girlfriend aren't number one on the list of things that I care about right now.

Simon: How could you write about us having sex and leave it on your computer?

Katie: It was supposed to help me figure things out.

Simon: How?

Katie: Like in couples therapy. Margo told me that if I wrote everything down, things would become clearer for me so that when I talked to Mike, I would know what to say to him.

Simon: Well, I think it's safe to say that Margo ain't Dr. Phil.

Katie: Margo's not the one that got me all confused with talk about our "Special bond."

Simon: I confused you?

Katie: You saw how emotional I was. You knew that, and you still moved in on me.

Simon: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. No, back it up here. Okay, what happened between us was a very mutual thing.

Katie: Oh, yeah -- the point is, if you had never come back, none of this would have ever happened. And you want to talk about ruining lives? How many times and in how many ways can you ruin mine?

[Mike remembering]

Mike: You wrote that you love him.

Katie: I know. I meant that -- a part of me will always love him. I'm sorry, I know that's hard to hear, but it has nothing to do with you and me.

Susan: I'm sorry I'm late. I got called into the ER.

Emily: It's okay. I'm not in a rush.

Susan: Was it a busy night. You'll never guess who they brought in. Dusty Donovan.

Emily: What? Why?

Susan: His car ran into a tree. He's pretty banged up, but he's going to be okay, thank God.

[Emily remembering]

Emily: So what's the plan, Craig? I mean, why tell Dusty that Lucy's the target when the drug was meant for Meg?

Craig: You'll see.

Susan: He broke an arm, he's got some bumps and bruises. But I'll tell you, when I looked at his x-rays, I thought, "That is a lucky guy."

Emily: Luck had nothing to do with it.

Meg: Oh, my God, what happened?

Paul: Craig tampered with Dusty's brakes.

Dallas: Where were you before the accident, Mr. Donovan?

Dusty: Java.

Dallas: What time?

Dusty: 8:00. I left by 9:00.

Craig: Well, that proves I have nothing to do with it. I was with Meg Snyder. Isn't that right, Meg?

Paul: Meg, Craig tried to kill Dusty tonight.

Craig: According to Paul, I'm responsible for every freak accident that happens --

Paul: This was no accident!

Dallas: Whoa, whoa, calm down, Mr. Ryan.

Paul: He's trying to intimidate Lucy so that Lucy won't testify against him.

Dallas: That's a pretty serious charge.

Dusty: It's true.

Dallas: Was Mr. Montgomery with you between the hours of 8:00 and 9:00 or not?

Meg: Yes, he was.

Paul: Officer, Meg was sick when I got home, and she was a little out of it, and I doubt that she was keeping track of the time.

Dallas: But Mr. Montgomery was with you for at least one hour tonight, right?

Meg: Normally, I wouldn't be aware of what time it was, but I was supposed to be back at the hospital for another shift.

Dallas: Meaning what?

Meg: I was checking the clock to see if I needed to call in and get somebody to cover for me.

Craig: Officer, you don't have to interrogate Nurse Snyder. Mr. Ryan himself came home and I was at his apartment.

Dallas: Is that true?

Paul: He left as soon as I got there.

Dallas: Was it within the hours of 8:00 and 9:00?

Paul: That doesn't prove a thing.

Craig: Thank you so much, Meg, for telling the truth.

Meg: Paul's right. It doesn't prove that he didn't hire someone to mess with those brakes.

Dallas: Yeah, well, do you have any knowledge that he did?

Meg: No.

Dusty: No, of course not. Craig never gets his hands dirty.

Dallas: Okay, you know what? We'll just see what the investigation turns up.

Paul: Can you at least hold him on suspicion?

Dusty: For attempted murder?

Dallas: Not if the man has an alibi. Look, our guys are looking into your car, but so far, all we have are a couple of worn brake pads.

Dusty: It's not the pads. I hit the brake, nothing happened.

Dallas: It's early in the investigation, all right? Now, I just sent some uniforms down to Java to talk to some people, see if anybody saw anything suspicious during the time your car was in the lot.

Paul: Oh, yeah, what are the chances of that?

Dallas: You'd be surprised.

Craig: I appreciate your professionalism, Officer.

Dallas: Listen, I got all your information. So you just stay close to home, understand?

Craig: Of course. Always happy to accommodate the Oakdale PD. Ask my sister, Margo. So, am I free to go now?

Dallas: For now, yeah. But I'll call you if I have anymore questions.

Craig: Oh, please do.

Dusty: You're not going anywhere. 'Cause we're not finished.

Simon: It's my fault. Yeah, the state of the world -- my fault. Global warming -- my fault. Paris Hiltonís musical career -- yeah, that's my fault, too. Yeah, blame me.

Katie: All I'm saying is that you knew how vulnerable I was, and you used it. All that talk about how we'd always be part of each other? I mean, what was that?

Simon: Okay, fine, fine. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Okay, if you want to make me out to be the bad guy here -- if that helps, fine. I didn't show up at your place to seduce you, Katie. I came there to try and talk. You know, to be adult? We have a history together. I just thought, why not acknowledge it instead of ignoring it the way we were doing? We are a part of each other's lives, Katie. We're always going to be. We're different people now, okay? We live different lives.

Katie: In love with different people.

Simon: I am so sorry about what happened, okay? I am. But it's done. And quite obviously, it didn't bring us any closer.

Katie: Right.

Simon: Right. I mean, it didn't change the way you feel about Mike, did it?

Katie: Nope.

Simon: Then go fight for it.

Katie: How? He won't listen to me. He's so angry, Simon.

Simon: Oh, no, he's sitting there writing a sonnet and making you a daisy chain. Of course he's angry.

Katie: Of course he is, and I understand!

Simon: So do I. I don't blame him at all. But listen, dry your eyes, go and speak to him and tell him what's in your heart. Okay? It's gonna take some time, but he will forgive you.

Katie: What are you going to do?

Simon: Try something new, you know? I'm gonna give the truth a try, see if I can sway Carly.

Katie: Good luck. I mean it.

Simon: You, too. And for the record, Mike would be a damn fool not to take you back.

Carly: You know how most people live and learn? I just do the "live" part. I got myself involved with a con man and a cheat, and I actually expected something resembling a normal life.

Jack: Maybe you don't want a normal life.

Carly: I had one, didn't I? I had honesty and reliability. I had quiet nights, and trust and love. I just didn't know how to hold onto it. And so, I tried to make myself believe that this thing with Simon would work in a quirky, take-life-as-it-comes sort of way. But it didnít. You were right, Jack. What in the world made me think that Simon Frasier would have a working knowledge of the meaning of the word truth?

Jack: Yeah, it's -- it's that bad, huh?

Carly: Pretty bad. I'm thinking of joining a convent.

Jack: That's a pretty drastic move.

Carly: It may be what it takes.

Jack: I'd give you a week.

Carly: I don't think they'd have me, anyway. You know, when I got in my car, I didn't have any idea where I was headed. And I turned up here. There's something about this place. I walk in the door, and no matter how bad things seem, I feel better. It just feels safe here, you know?

Jack: Yeah, I can't say that it feels all that safe to pretend that we're old friends, pouring our hearts out to each other. In fact, it's starting to feel a little phony.

Carly: I'm sorry.

Jack: No, no, don't apologize. I asked you to tell me your troubles, and you took me at my word. I guess I'm not as evolved as I'd like to be. If you have a problem with Simon, Carly, I'm sorry, I don't want to know about it.

Carly: I should go.

Jack: No, Carly, wait. Wait, Carly, I didn't mean to snap at you.

Carly: No, it's okay.

Jack: No -- did you hear me yesterday when I told you I still loved you?

Carly: I heard you.

Jack: Because I practiced that speech, like, a few dozen times before I saw you. And it took up a lot of nerve for me to actually leave the house. I miss you. I miss being a family. And yeah, the kids, they love it here, but they hate -- you know, living a torn life. And so do I. Part of us at the house and part of us here. But yesterday, you let me know loud and clear that I'm not a part of your future -- at least not the way I want to be.

Carly: I'm sorry.

Jack: No, don't apologize. You were being honest. And honesty is basically the only thing we have left. Let's not ruin that, too.

Carly: I don't want to ruin that.

Jack: No. I walked out on you because my pride took a beating. But after these few months without you -- I guess the joke's on me. I have no more pride left when it comes to us. I love you, and I miss you, and I want you back. You make my life complete. And if that doesn't sound like a cheesy movie clichť, I don't know what does --

Carly: It doesnít. Not when you say it.

Jack: Now you know why I don't want to know about your love life with Simon. I want to be your love life. And it's kind of making me crazy being so close to you and knowing I might as well be a million miles away.

Carly: Jack --

Simon: I'm sorry for barging in --

Jack: You've got to be kidding me. Get the hell out of Emmaís house! What are you doing here? Get out of here!

Simon: Carly, can we talk? I will go -- I just want to -- Carly, please hear me out. And if you hate me after what I've got to say, I will go, all right?

Jack: I'm going to give you a choice. You can leave here right now on your own, or I can help you leave.

Katie: Mike? Mike? I saw your truck outside, I know you're here.

Mike: I paid the bills. The chimney guy's coming out next week to check on that crack.

Katie: I don't want to talk about the chimney. No, don't do this, please!

Mike: I changed the filters in the furnace. In six months, do it again.

Katie: Where are you going?

Mike: It doesn't matter.

Katie: Mike, please -- please, don't leave me.

Mike: You left me, I'm just making it official.

Lucy: Look, Dusty, my father's not worth it. I need you to stay off your --

Dusty: Your father's got to know how it is.

Craig: Officer Griffin just explained they way it is. You had an accident.

Dusty: If you go after Lucy, if she's next --

Craig: I would do nothing to hurt my daughter.

Dusty: If you do anything to keep her from testifying, I'll kill you.

Craig: I assume you heard that, Officer?

Dallas: There are some statements that are not wise to make in front of an officer, Mr. Donovan.

Paul: Oh, if Dusty can't manage, I'm happy to finish the job.

Craig: Well, it looks like I'm need of a little police protection.

Doctor: I'm ready to set that arm.

Lucy: Come on, Dusty, let's go.

Craig: Lucy, wait.

Lucy: It's all right. I'll be there in a second. It's okay.

Craig: Excuse me. Lucy, you have to know that I had nothing to do with Dusty's accident.

Lucy: Just because they can't prove it doesn't mean you didn't do something.

Craig: I would never hurt you.

Lucy: Hurting Dusty hurts me. And if you were out to scare me tonight, Daddy, you got exactly what you wanted.

Dallas: They just towed Donovanís car over to the police garage. I'll call in, see if I find anything new. All right?

Craig: Thank you, Meg, for standing up to the angry mob.

Paul: You heard what the officer said. So don't make any flight plans.

Craig: Oh, why would I do that, Paul, when everything that I want is right here in Oakdale?

Paul: Craig almost kills Dusty tonight, and you cover for him?

Meg: I wasn't covering.

Paul: We almost had him.

Meg: I was asked a direct question from a police officer. What did you want me to do, lie?

Paul: You didn't have any trouble lying when you didn't tell me about Craig kissing you at the Lakeview.

Meg: Don't throw that back in my face.

Paul: Okay, look, I'm just having a feeling of deja vu. It's so -- it's not even funny.

Meg: Because of Rosanna?

Paul: Meg, I don't ever want it to be you in a car that he runs off of the road.

Meg: It won't be.

Paul: No, that's it. See, as soon as you let your guard down with Craig, that's when he's the most dangerous.

Meg: Okay, so, hey, why don't we live in a bunker? Wouldn't that be fun?

Paul: You know, I would have backed you up. Would have said that he wasn't there when I got home.

Meg: What happened to this whole honesty thing? And besides, if he's half the mastermind you think he is, I'm sure he had people that knew where he was so his alibi would stand.

Paul: It is no coincidence that he's using you to cover for him.

Meg: I was not covering. I was sick! He helped me.

Paul: Craig doesn't help anybody but himself.

Meg: You know what? Even Craig wouldn't have known the exact day and the exact hour that I would have been at the Lakeview, coincidentally getting sick, so he could drive me home and use me as his alibi!

Paul: As soon as you think something is impossible with Craig, it's possible.

Meg: Don't you think there's a slight chance that you're wrong?

Paul: I'm not wrong.

Meg: Dusty could have had a bad accident.

Paul: I'm not wrong about Dusty, and I'm not wrong about Rosanna. And you had a chance, and you let him go. And don't forget that the next time one of his victims gets rolled into your ER.

Emily: I heard about Dusty's accident. What the hell did you do, Craig?

Craig: Nothing.

Emily: Nothing? You used me to put the fear of God in him, because you knew -- you knew that he would head straight for Lucy when he heard that you might be poisoning her or something.

Craig: Where do you get these ideas, Emily?

Emily: This is -- this is crazy. And believe me, I know crazy when I see it. I will have nothing to do with this.

Craig: Don't you want to stick around to find out who gets the guy in the end?

Emily: You don't know the difference between a screwdriver and socket wrench, so how did you do it?

Craig: Deep breaths, deep breaths, deep breaths. Our hands are clean.

Emily: You will not get away with this. They will find out.

Paul: They'll find out what?

Announcer: Coming up on "As the World T urns" --

Simon: It is over with Katie. I want to be with you.

Mike: I'm not going to be a consolation prize.

Katie: Oh, God, no. Mike, do not do that! Please, don't do that!

Meg: What good is destroying Craig if I can't live with myself? Or even worse, if I can't live with you?

Craig: I'm just wondering if there was a limit to how far you'd go to get Paul back. It might be fun to find out.

Paul: What's going on, Emily?

Craig: Emily is imagining conspiracies.

Paul: Will you knock it off? Tell me what he did.

Craig: Or better yet, tell him what you did exactly, Emily.

Emily: I -- I saw Craig at Fairwinds last night, and he had a vial of something. And he kept going on and on about how he was going to make sure Lucy wasn't going to testify against him. And I got scared. I mean, I thought maybe he was going to do something to her, so I ran into Dusty at Java and I told him about it, and he flipped out and took off like a shot. And then -- all that happened right before the accident.

Craig: What you saw was a bottle of vitamins. And then you took some innocent remarks and jumped to ridiculous conclusions.

Paul: I'm gonna go get Dallas.

Craig: You've wasted enough of the man's time.

Emily: No, you know what? He's right. He's right. I really didn't have anything to go on.

Paul: Em, would you be willing to tell the police that you saw Craig with some kind of drug in his possession?

Craig: What, vitamins are illegal now?

Emily: He's right. I let my imagination get the best of me.

Craig: See, the poor thing blames herself.

Paul: What about this story are you not telling me?

Emily: Nothing. That's it, okay? I shouldn't have said anything.

Paul: So Craig didn't say or do anything that led you to believe that he was going after Dusty?

Emily: No.

Craig: Wow, Paul. Police work could be a whole new career for you.

Dallas: I just got off the phone with my people. They interviewed half a dozen people at Java and nobody saw anything suspicious during the hours of 8:00 and 9:00.

Paul: So that's it? Craig walks?

Dallas: Well, I don't have enough to hold him. Not unless somebody comes up with some more information. He's free to go. I'll file my report and let Mr. Donovan know when we have enough.

Craig: You've been a big help, Officer, thank you.

Paul: Yeah, it's been great. You let the guilty guy go.

Dallas: Look, I'll keep the investigation open. But unless something comes up from forensics, or we get an eyewitness, I don't have enough to hold him.

Craig: Well, I'm sure that I'll be seeing all of you very soon.

Paul: How did you find out about the accident?

Emily: My mother.

Paul: I think that Craig just tricked you into thinking that he was going after Lucy. Dusty was the target all along.

Emily: How can we prove that?

Paul: I don't know. But at least you're willing to try, which is more than I can say for some people.

Meg: I have to get back to work.

Paul: Look, you stood up to Craig, you should be proud of yourself.

Craig: I'm sorry if I got you in trouble with your fiancť.

Meg: I have work to do.

Craig: I never meant to cause a problem between you and Paul.

Meg: That's exactly what you want, Craig. Anything to plant a seed of doubt, anything to make him miserable and destroy whatever happiness he's found. That's what this is all about, isn't it?

Craig: No, you've got it backwards, Meg. Paul came after me. He practically begged Officer Griffin to arrest me.

Meg: And I don't blame him. You went out of your way to make trouble for us.

Craig: How? By kissing you? I apologize --

Meg: No, by making sure Paul found out. You just couldn't wait to tell him all about it, could you?

Katie: I won't make this easy for you, Mike. I love you!

Mike: I'll clear my tools out of the garage tomorrow.

Katie: Stop talking about tools!

Mike: What's left to talk about?

Katie: A lot of couples go through this and they're fine. Look at Tom and Margo, they went to see a counselor. We could do that.

Mike: I can't even imagine talking about this to someone. I don't even want to talk to you about it. It just makes me sick.

Katie: Okay, you understand. You need time, of course you do. We both do. Let's take some time and think about how we feel and what we want to do, and then we'll come back to each other and we'll miss each other.

Mike: Katie, you have had feelings for Simon for as long as we've been together. I don't see how time's really going to help us.

Katie: No, it was just seeing him again.

Mike: Oh, that's all it took? What's that say about our relationship? All right, you were hiding your feelings, thinking that if no one saw it, there wouldn't be a problem.

Katie: How can I fix this? What can I do? What do you want?

Mike: I want to be the only man you love.

Katie: You are.

Mike: You expect me to believe that?

Katie: Yes, because it's true, Mike. Please believe me.

Mike: I donít. But here's something you need to know. Once I walk out that door, I'm never coming back.

Simon: Carly, can we please talk outside?

Jack: Did you not hear what I said?

Simon: I'm really sorry, Jack, but I am waiting to hear from Carly.

Carly: It's gonna be a long wait.

[Cell phone rings]

Jack: Its work. Hello? Yeah. Margo, listen -- yeah, this isn't a very -- right now? I -- I'll be right there. I have to go to the station. Would you like me to escort this gentleman out?

Carly: No. It's all right, I can handle it from here.

Jack: You're sure?

Simon: Is he always on duty?

Carly: Oh, cut it out, Simon.

Simon: Why'd you come running back to your ex so soon?

Carly: Why did you go to yours? And for the record, I didn't sleep with mine!

Simon: I need you to understand why I had sex with Katie.

Carly: Oh, I understand. She was there. You were there. And sex happens, right?

Simon: It changed me.

Carly: It changed a lot of things.

Simon: All right, look, we got caught up in some very intense memories, okay? It was a heat-of-the-moment thing, and it happened. I'm not saying its right. In fact, it was very wrong. But it happened. Regretfully. I think we were both trying to see subconsciously if we were meant to be together or it was finally over between us.

Carly: Oh, which is it?

Simon: When I saw that look on your face after you found out what happened, that hurt me more than I knew it ever could. Okay? And in that moment, in that one moment, there was without a shadow of a doubt -- it became clear to me, Carly. It is over with Katie. Totally over. I want to be with you.

Meg: Save your lies for the courtroom, Craig. I'm not interested..

Craig: I assumed that you told Paul about the kiss.

Meg: Sure you did.

Craig: Don't happily engaged couples practice full disclosure?

Meg: If Paul hadn't come home and found you there, I'm sure you would have found a way to tell him about that, too.

Craig: I was trying to be your friend.

Meg: You used me, Craig.

Craig: I cancelled a meeting with my lawyer today so that I could make sure that you got home safely.

Meg: Oh, so if I called him, he would verify that you had that meeting?

Craig: Yes, she would. Paul's paranoid. Please, don't let him make you paranoid, too.

Meg: You know what? You two could hate each other all you want, but keep me out of this. Stay away from me, Craig, I mean it. Don't you dare come near me?

Paul: Craig knew exactly what he was doing when he let you catch him with that bottle of whatever it was.

Meg: I'm heading home. They have enough coverage on the floor. I'll see you when I see you.

Emily: Everything okay?

Paul: Yeah. She just doesn't know Craig the way we do. Em, can you do me a favor?

Emily: Hmm?

Paul: If Craig does anything else that you think might be suspicious, will you please just call me?

Emily: Yeah, I will.

Paul: Thanks.

Craig: Well, that looked very promising. You had me worried there for a minute. I thought you found religion. And then I remembered, Paul Ryan is your religion.

Emily: Dusty could have been killed tonight.

Craig: But he wasnít. And no one has to know that you had any part of it.

Emily: I am never helping you again, never!

Craig: Really? I was just wondering if there was a limit to how far you'd go to get Paul back. It might be fun to find out.

Carly: So sleeping with Katie helped you make up your mind?

Simon: It put everything in perspective.

Carly: Well, couldn't you have just played eeny, meeny, miney, mo?

Simon: I'm serious, Carly. And not to be too specific, but when I left your place, I was under the very strong impression that you didn't want me anymore, you were done with me. I thought you were serious when you told Jack that we were nothing more than just business partners.

Carly: I slept with you, Simon. Do you think that I sleep with all the men that I do business with? And before you take a guess, I'll answer it for you. The answer is no, I donít. It meant something to me.

Simon: Well, I didn't know that then. How was I supposed to know?

Carly: There are so many men who don't have to ask that question.

Simon: I'm sorry I couldn't read your mind. On the positive side, at least it ended that chapter of my life.

Carly: Oh, yes, well, it all works out in your favor then, huh? Isn't that what Simon Frasierís life is all about?

Simon: Funnily enough, no. Not anymore. What are you thinking? What do you want me to do?

Carly: I'm thinking that you're still pretty much a liar. You could have come clean the moment that I apologized for telling Jack that we were just business partners. I put all my cards on the table, and you conveniently neglected to tell me that you had just slept with Katie.

Simon: I was struggling with what to do.

Carly: I was struggling, too. I had just walked away from a man -- a good man. A decent man. A man that I know that I could have counted on for the rest of my life.

Simon: You walked away from him for your own reasons. And those reasons had nothing to do with my little indiscretion with Katie. And I'm sorry it took me a while, that I couldn't admit the truth, but I was trying to process what I did, okay? The way that you took a little time to process that we were more than maybe just business partners. Carly, I don't want you to walk away from this, okay? I think you are incredible. You are like no woman I have ever met. I mean, you're more like me than any other human being I've ever met.

Carly: Oh, I'm sorry, is that supposed to be a compliment?

Simon: No. No, it's not, 'cause you are way better. Come on, we have so much potential, and you know it. I don't want to lose you. If I could, you know what I would do? I would get in a time machine -- I would -- and go back and change everything that happened between me and Katie just then. I would.

Carly: Maybe that wouldn't be the best thing. I'm not saying that I'm not really hurt, and pretty mad that you slept with Katie. But maybe in the long run, it'll turn out to be a good thing.

Katie: This is our home, Mike. You don't just walk out of your home like it's nothing.

Mike: I tried, Katie, every way I know how to make it ours. But I was competing against Simon the whole time.

Katie: No, you weren't! We planned our wedding here. We wrote our vows right here. We planned on what flowers we wanted, we picked out our cake. We sat in front of that hearth, talked about our kids, what we would name them. We planned so many celebrations here, and birthdays and anniversaries and graduations.

Mike: How many times did I tell you to get rid of those? But there was always some reason, always some excuse. You couldn't find the right place for them, they didn't mean anything. Or you just forget that they were there.

Katie: They don't mean anything, Mike, they donít.

Mike: Well, obviously, they do. Obviously it's just another reminder that I'm taking up space in another guy's home.

Katie: No, Mike, this is our home -- yours and mine. It's ours!

Mike: All right, all right. I'm not gonna be a consolation prize.

Katie: Oh, God, no. Mike, do not do that. Please, don't do that!

[Mike takes off his wedding ring]

Mike: You want to put this in your next box of memories.

Paul: I thought you'd gone back to the farm.

Meg: Would you rather I did?

Paul: Are you kidding? I'm really glad you're here.

Meg: So you can keep an eye on me? You know, if it means anything, I told Craig off tonight. I told him never to come near me again.

Paul: He's not going to pay any attention to you.

Meg: So I'll just keep saying it until he gets the message.

Paul: Words are not going to work.

Meg: What do you want from me?

Paul: Hey, we had him cornered tonight, and you just -- you let him slip away. And Dusty's car accident, that was no accident. That was Craig's way of threatening Lucy to keep Lucy from testifying against him.

Meg: And I understand that.

Paul: Then why did you give the guy an alibi?

Meg: I didn't do it to help Craig.

Paul: Are you sure?

Meg: I told the truth to protect you, Paul, not Craig.

Paul: How does the truth protect me?

Meg: Because the last time we lied because of Craig, it almost destroyed you. And I'm not going to let that happen again.

Paul: I can take care of myself. Now, you know Craig is guilty. You said yourself he could have just paid somebody else to tamper with Dusty's brakes.

Meg: I hear what you're saying. But I was hoping that the man I love would support me tonight, too. I was hoping that he would see how hard it was for me to do the right thing, and that I was so tempted to lie, just like you were.

Paul: The difference between you and me right now, Meg, is I don't give a damn about what's right as long as Craig Montgomery rots in hell.

Meg: Oh, so I should just say what you want me to say?

Paul: Yes!

Meg: And do what you want me to do?

Paul: Absolutely!

Meg: So we'll end up operating on Craig's level?

Paul: If we have to.

Meg: You know what? Right now, I really don't see a difference between the two of you. It's not Craig that's coming between us, Paul. It's you.

Paul: No, I'm trying to save us.

Meg: By destroying Craig?

Paul: Yes!

Meg: What good is destroying Craig if I can't live with myself? Or even worse, if I can't live with you?

Paul: Meg -- Meg!

Emily: Why are you following me?

Craig: I had a sudden urge for a latte.

Emily: Get lost.

Craig: Why do you hurt me so?

Announcer: On the next "As the World Turns" --

Jack: That's nice. Real or fake?

Carly: I'm still with Simon.

Mike: After he cheated on you?

Carly: He made a mistake. I forgave him. I think you should do the same thing with Katie.

Henry: I'm going to help you get Mike back.
