Barbara: I need to see you. I need to see you face to face, Dr. Kittredge.
Dr. Kittredge: All right. I'll send a guard by to pick you up.
Barbara: Thank you. Thank you so much.
Hal: What are you doing?
Barbara: Something that has to be done.
Hal: The only thing you have to do is stay in the house and away from Will.
Barbara: I didn't call Will.
Hal: Then what are you up to?
Barbara: My therapy. My lesson for today is forgiveness. And you're my first test. I forgive you, Hal.
Holden: Is something wrong?
Lily: I don't know. Craig came by earlier and I told him I didn't have time to talk to him. And then I went outside and I found his cell phone on the front porch and -- forget it. Don't even worry about it. Forget it. Let me get you something to eat.
Holden: No, I'm not hungry.
Lily: Did you eat at the hospital?
Holden: No, I did not.
Lily: How's Aaron?
Holden: He had a rough night. He was freaking out. We did everything we could to calm him down.
Lily: Does he know what happened to him?
Holden: No. Bob did not want his blood pressure up, so Alison and I did everything we could to keep him from finding out about the fight. And then that Ortega kid showed up.
Holden: He was feeling all guilty and he told him everything.
Lily: Are you kidding? So he knows that the gloves were weighted?
Holden: That's why Aaron started freaking out. And then Bob gave us the news.
Holden: Aaron is partially paralyzed on his right side.
Lily: But there's something else.
Holden: You can tell?
Lily: 20 years. I can tell. What is it?
Holden: The more I listened to Bob, the more I watched how they acted around Aaron, something -- something is not --
Holden: Something happened to Aaron. Something besides the fight. I think something happened during that surgery. Something went wrong. Very, very wrong.
Ben: Hey, Bob. I got your message. Look, I've been reading Aaronís chart, following along and I'm thinking about a new protocol I want to try. We can go see Aaron now if you want.
Bob: Ben, that's not why you're here.
Ben: Bob -- what's this about?
Bob: Pending an investigation into Aaronís surgery, I have to suspend you. Effective immediately.
Brad: Hello? Jack? Is that you?
Brad: Its Brad. Your brother, Brad.
Jack: I'm sorry, Brad, I don't remember.
Brad: Yeah, Carly said.
Jack: Is that how you found me?
Brad: Yeah, I called the house. She said you were at this hotel.
Brad: Jack, look, I know you don't remember me or Mom, but that doesn't matter right now. We need you to come out to Montana as soon as you can.
Jack: You need me to come out to Montana?
Brad: It's urgent. Mom's sick. I've explained to her that you still don't remember, but she doesn't care. She needs to see you, man.
Jack: Can you hold on for a second?
Jack: My brother says my mother's sick and needs to see me right away in Montana.
Julia: This is out of left field.
Jack: Yeah. Tell me about it. Nobody told me about them. Why?
Julia: You've had enough to deal with with all your relatives here in town, maybe.
Jack: Yeah, I guess. So, do we go?
Julia: Yeah. Of course, Jack, it's your family. We should go. I mean, it's a lot, but we can deal with it.
Jack: Sorry. Sorry about that, Brad, I had to check on something. If you want me to come out there, I'd be happy to. Of course. Yeah. It'll give us a chance to catch up.
Jack: It'll give you a chance to meet Julia and my stepson. We'll catch the first flight out.
Paul: I can't believe that nobody found this. Your staff must have cleaned this room a hundred times.
Rosanna: No, its okay, Paul.
Paul: It's not okay, Rosanna. This is our wedding night, and this is not okay.
Rosanna: There's nothing wrong. Okay? We just had a little reminder of Cabot. That's all.
Paul: Why are you shaking?
Rosanna: I'm just surprised.
Paul: Let's just get out of here, you know -- we'll stay at the penthouse. We'll put this place on the market first thing tomorrow morning, okay?
Rosanna: No. I don't want to do that. I don't want to run. This is why I wanted to move back here in the first place. I wanted to have this. I don't want to pretend that very important parts of my life didn't happen.
Paul: Yeah, that's fine. And that's one thing, but I don't want to see you blindsided. Rosanna, I don't -- I just don't want anything to ruin --
Rosanna: Us. I know. And it's not going to. It never will. Look, you are not responsible. I know that. Okay? You have to let it go. The only thing that is going to ruin us is us. And I wouldn't bet on that.
Paul: You're so optimistic.
Rosanna: I'm in love. And it's my wedding night. I mean, if I -- if I don't feel lucky tonight --
Paul: How 'bout it? Do you feel lucky?
Rosanna: Yeah, I do. I feel like the luckiest woman alive.
Hal: You forgive me? Did I need it?
Barbara: I don't know if you care about what I think or what I feel, but if you do, I just wanted you to know that I forgive you for not telling me about Paul and Rosannaís wedding.
Hal: What? Did you expect to be invited?
Barbara: No. No. Of course not.
Hal: You remember the last wedding that Paul was at, right?
Barbara: I certainly do.
Hal: You were put under guard, and things still didn't go very well, did they?
Barbara: No. It was a horrible day.
Hal: No. I wouldn't have put it past you to try to put a stop to this wedding, too.
Barbara: I would never do that. But I can understand why you'd be concerned.
Hal: You do?
Barbara: Yes, I do. I was out of control before. I'm sure you were afraid that I was going to be out of control again. I don't blame you for that.
Barbara: I'm trying to learn from my mistakes. I don't want to make them over again.
Hal: I'm glad.
Barbara: And I'm sure you were wondering who I was on the phone with when you walked in.
Hal: I can pull the lDs and find that out.
Barbara: Well, you don't have to do that, because I'll tell you the truth. It was Dr. Kittredge. I begged him to see me tonight.
Barbara: I want to get better. I want to make things right. And when I heard the news about Paul and Rosanna, I started to react -- I caught myself, though. I just want to do things in the best possible way.
Hal: Well, that's -- that's good, Barbara. Actually, it's better than good.
Barbara: I hope so. So was the wedding pretty?
Hal: Yes, actually, it was. I can't remember seeing Paul happier. Rosanna is going to be good for him.
Barbara: I hope that's true. I don't know how she does it, what that woman has gone through.
Hal: Things you helped put her through.
Barbara: I know people blame me for Cabot, especially Rosanna. She lost a child. I mean, you can never get over that.
[Knocking on door]
Guard: I'm here to escort Mrs. Ryan to her appointment.
Hal: Yeah. Sure.
Barbara: Okay, let's go.
Hal: Well, you better call the station, let them know that you're leaving the premises under guard. Barbara -- good luck.
Barbara: Thank you.
Hal: This is a big step for you.
Barbara: I'm just doing what has to be done.
Brad: No, Jack. You can't bring those people along.
Jack: Those people?
Brad: Anybody, I mean. You need to come alone.
Brad: It's Mom.
Brad: Like I said, she's real sick. She can't handle anybody new -- anybody else at all. We're keeping her visitors to a minimum. But she's been asking for you. For days now. Jack?
Jack: Yeah, Brad, I'm, sorry. Okay.
Brad: Great. Thanks, man. This'll make a big difference to her.
Jack: I hope so.
Brad: I'll call the airline now and book it. All you have to do is show up at the airport tomorrow morning at 8:00. The reservation will be in your name.
Jack: Okay. I guess I'll see you soon.
Brad: I'll be here. Good-bye.
Carly: Erik -- you are an absolute genius. Thank you so much.
Brad: He threw me some curves.
Carly: Well, you handled them very, very well. Now thank Hannah for me, okay? And thanks again. Really.
Emily: That's it. You've got a wide open field. What?
Carly: I hope it works, that's all.
Emily: What? This is going to work. Look at me. That Julia has done such a number on you. This is you and Jack, honey. This is where you got married, this where your daughter was born. Jack's already starting to remember some of the important things, honey. This is going to push him right over the top.
Carly: I hope so. It has to. I'm afraid this is my last chance.
Jack: I wish I could be here for Thanksgiving. I will be here. After this, no more separations.
Julia: Good. When will you be back? How long will you be gone?
Jack: I don't know. It depends on how sick my mother is. My mother. I didn't even ask if I have a father. Why didn't anybody mention these people to me?
Julia: I don't know, baby. But maybe it's like I said, maybe they didn't want to overload you.
Jack: It kind of makes you think, you know. Don't you wonder what else could pop up out of the bushes?
Julia: Just in time for the holidays.
Jack: Yeah, tell me about it. Something's off.
Jack: You gonna be alright here for a while?
Julia: Yeah. Why? Where are you going?
Jack: I'm going to check out my brother Brad. The whole thing.
Julia: Do you know how to do that?
Jack: I know there's one person who'll give me a straight answer.
Julia: And one person who's behind it, if there's anything weird going on.
Bob: There's been no formal complaint.
Ben: Then why are you suspending me?
Bob: Because there are questions.
Ben: Bob, I did the best that anybody could do given Aaronís condition.
Bob: Then you have nothing to worry about.
Ben: How about my reputation?
Bob: Ben, we have to protect this hospital. If there's even a hint of malpractice --
Ben: Now wait. Whoa, whoa. What? Is this about those other accusations? The pain medication? Bob, give me a test. Right now. Another Tox screen. I am clean. And I was clean when I did Aaronís surgery.
Bob: Ben, I'm your friend. Nobody wants this to go away more than I do. But if there's anything you want to tell me, anything at all, now would be the time.
Holden: The minute Bob arrived, everything changed. Suddenly Dr. Ramirez is operating on Aaron instead of Ben. And then John Dixon is hovering around the halls like some sort of one-man surveillance team.
Lily: Yeah, but John and Bob, they -- all right. I think you're right. I think something's up.
Holden: What if the hospital is responsible for some sort of negligence?
Lily: What will we do?
Holden: I don't know. We're not gonna let them get away with it.
Lily: Well, okay. I know, I know. But this is -- we need to concentrate on helping Aaron. That's all that matters. And accusations, that's -- that's not going to help right now.
Holden: What if he has permanent damage?
Lily: Then we'll deal with it. Later. Right now we have to help Aaron, and help him get better. I have an idea.
Lily: I have an idea. Why don't we bring Thanksgiving to Aaron at the hospital? I'm sure your mom won't mind. And we'll get the kids. We'll bring the kids, and, if you don't mind, I'd --
Lily: If I could go?
Holden: No, Aaron would love to have you there. So would I.
Lily: Okay. Then it's a plan.
Lily: I'll get it. Oh.
Jack: Is Holden here? I stopped by the hospital.
Lily: Yeah, he just got home.
Jack: Do you mind?
Holden: Hey, Jack.
Jack: Hey. How is Aaron?
Holden: He's doing okay. He's out of danger, for now, anyway.
Jack: That's good. Good news.
Lily: Yeah, I'll leave you two alone. I've got to do a few things, okay? You two talk.
Holden: Thanks. Hey listen, we're going to have a Thanksgiving get together over at the hospital for Aaron tomorrow. If you want to stop by, you're more than welcome.
Jack: No, no. I would love to do that, actually, that's why I'm here. I just got a call from my brother, Brad.
Jack: So I have a brother Brad?
Holden: Yeah. What did you think?
Jack: I didn't know. The call came out of the blue. He said that my mother was sick. And I had to visit right away.
Holden: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Dolores is sick?
Jack: Well, it sounds that way. Yeah.
Holden: It always seemed to me like she was just indestructible.
Jack: So you think it may not be true?
Holden: No, if Brad -- what? You don't think it's true?
Jack: I don't know. It just struck me as funny. 'Cause no one had ever mentioned them before. Now all of a sudden, I've got to go to Montana immediately and visit them.
Jack: Well, that's where they live. Don't they?
Carly: Soon, Parker. No, I'm going to miss that big dinner tomorrow, but I'll be home as soon as I can, okay? Yeah, I'm excited. I hope I can bring you home some really good news. Goodnight, sweetheart. Don't let the bedbugs bite. Please God, please let this work for Parker and for me.
Announcer: Coming up on "As the World Turns" --
Jack: So my brother and my mother don't live in Montana?
Julia: Hey, Carly. You going somewhere?
Paul: I can't believe this is our honeymoon. [Rosanna chuckles] Then again, this has always been one of my favorite destinations.
Rosanna: You see? We don't have to go anyplace else. Except maybe the dance floor.
Paul: The dance floor?
Rosanna: Yeah. I noticed you weren't too gung-ho about dancing in front of our guests.
Paul: Now, hold on a second. Dancing is not my thing. I'm willing to learn. I --
Paul: Now. Now is great.
Rosanna: Oh, all right.
Paul: This is a perfect time. I'm up for anything.
Paul: Does this work?
Paul: No. No.
Rosanna: Well, that's good. You can show me how you can dance from one foot onto the other like a human pogo stick.
Rosanna: Ah. Nice.
Rosanna: We always get it right. Eventually.
Paul: Yeah. And it's very much worth the wait.
Barbara: Do you think it's too late? Do you think that I can change?
Dr. Kittredge: This is really the first time I have heard you see someone else's point of view, and not just to serve yourself. This is a very important breakthrough.
Barbara: I hope that's what it is, 'cause it feels terrible.
Dr. Kittredge: It's just the first phase, Barbara. It gets better from here.
Dr. Kittredge: If you're willing to face your own fears and not flinch when you see something you don't like. Yeah, there's a chance. Take your time.
Barbara: Could you get me some more water, please?
Dr. Kittredge: Of course. I'll be right back.
Barbara: Do what has to be done.
Emily: No, I'm really happy that Barbara had this big breakthrough. But I'm a lot happier that you and I get to have some time alone for a change.
Hal: Amen to that. So, where'd you go tonight?
Emily: I was just with Carly.
Hal: Oh? Did you and Carly get your plan straight?
Emily: What plan?
Hal: Come on, Em. You and Carly and Rosanna had your heads together during the wedding big time. Plus, you almost jumped out of your skin when I approached you.
Emily: I did not. You startled me.
Hal: And then you disappeared.
Emily: I didn't disappear. I just needed some girl time.
Hal: Oh, come on, Em. What do you and Carly have cooked up? Hmm? You're not going to stonewall me, are you?
Emily: It's really not that big of a deal. It isnít. Carly needed a shoulder, I have one. Jack wants to divorce her over that misunderstanding with Juliaís ex-husband and she's at the end of her rope. I hate when you do this. This silent, beagle-eyed thing.
Hal: Em, do you know the number one rule of interrogating?
Emily: No, I donít. And I don't want to know because I'm not saying another word.
Hal: It's too late. The number one rule is, the person who speaks first loses. Now, what do you two have cooked up?
Emily: Promise you won't yell? You'll hear me out?
Hal: You're really going to tell me?
Emily: Were you really going to give up?
Hal: No way.
Emily: I didn't think so. Okay, so keep this whole nice, light thing going on and everything will be just fine. Carly and I sort of tricked Jack into going to Montana alone.
Hal: Em, ropes and blindfolds, they're not involved, are they?
Emily: No! No, no, no, no. Nothing like that. It was just a phone call to jack. That's all. I swear. Jack thinks he's going to see his mother. Who might be a little bit sick. Only when he gets to Montana, Carly will be there instead.
Jack: So my brother and my mother don't live in Montana?
Holden: I don't know. Maybe they do.
Jack: You don't know for sure?
Holden: Nobody does. It's like I tried to tell you before, you were never close with Brad or Dolores. That's why you loved it in Oakdale, and why you loved coming and staying at the farm when we were kids.
Jack: Holden, is there something wrong here? Is there something you got to tell me?
Holden: Brad and Dolores are free spirits, and that would be a very nice way of putting it.
Jack: It doesn't sound like you like them much.
Holden: They are who they are. And you made peace with them and all that history is a long time ago.
Jack: Okay, so if I'm not all that close with them, if I get a phone call from them, it means I should probably take it seriously.
Holden: My guess? Yeah. If Dolores is sick, she probably wants to see you.
Jack: Then I want to see them, too.
Holden: Yeah, I would think you would.
Jack: Thank you. Okay. There's no one else in my family tree that's hiding that I should know about someplace?
Holden: No. No. But I will check the attic and you're okay for the next week.
Jack: All right. I'll give you a call when I land to check in on Aaron.
Holden: All right. Anything you want me to do while you're gone?
Jack: No -- yes. Sure. Check in on Julia for me.
Julia: Hey, Carly. You going somewhere?
Carly: No. Tomorrow's Thanksgiving.
Julia: Yeah. Today's the busiest travel day of the year.
Carly: And my family is here. They're looking forward to their few precious minutes with Jack.
Julia: What about you, Carly?
Carly: What do you mean what about me? Am I looking forward to my few minutes with Jack?
Julia: The suitcase, Carly?
Carly: Its clothes. For the homeless. I'm bringing it to the homeless shelter. I do it every year. It's kind of a tradition. And I really out to go before close the donation box. Is there a reason that you came by?
Julia: Yeah. Jack got a call today from his brother, Brad?
Carly: Brad. I'm not surprised. I gave him the number. Does that upset you?
Julia: No. I just thought it was odd.
Carly: Why? Their mother is sick. She wants to see Jack. I said that he wasn't living here and I gave him your number.
Julia: Did you tell him about the situation?
Carly: No. I just said that Jack was living at the Lakeview. Why?
Julia: Because Brad was adamant about Jack coming alone. And it made me wonder why.
Carly: Oh. Well, if Dolores is sick, trust me, you don't want to be there.
Carly: Yeah, really. She is -- she is really something else. I spent years trying to avoid her myself. She doesn't want anybody around her but her precious boys. They always visit her alone.
Julia: Oh. Well, that's good to know. Thank you.
Carly: Right. I should go to the shelter and be back before the kids get here.
Julia: Okay. I don't want to keep you. That's a good thing that you're doing.
Carly: Well, I'm not a total monster.
Julia: Yeah. I know. Look -- I hate the way I sounded when I showed up here. I had this story all laid out. And I just came to tell you that Jack wasn't going to be around tomorrow. But, the truth is, we got this call sort of out of nowhere, and I didn't trust it.
Carly: Didn't trust me, you mean.
Julia: Yeah. And I'm sorry. I think this fight is not bringing out the best in either one of us.
Carly: Maybe not.
Julia: I don't know, maybe if we're -- if we're just honest with each other, we can find a way to sort of just respect each other as people. You know? I know that you and Parker are going to miss Jack. J.J. and I are going to miss him, too. I hope you have a good Thanksgiving, Carly.
Carly: Yeah. Happy Thanksgiving to you.
Rosanna: Why did you say you couldn't dance?
Paul: Because I canít. Well, I don't know, I couldnít. You're an excellent teacher.
Rosanna: Well, you're leading.
Paul: I am?
Rosanna: Yeah. You have the right touch. You don't push. But you're right there. Whatever direction we need to go.
Paul: Are we still talking about dancing?
Rosanna: That too.
I don't know why I know these things but I do
I don't know why I know these things but I do
Barbara: Thank you very much, Doctor.
Dr. Kittredge: You're welcome. Okay, let's start with the moment you described before and take --
Barbara: Well, there's no need.
Dr. Kittredge: What?
Barbara: I mean, I can't --
Dr. Kittredge: You can't remember? You just told me, in great detail.
Barbara: It's just that I can't go through it again. I'm drained.
Dr. Kittredge: It's understandable. We'll pick up again next session. Ms. Ryan is ready to go. Well, I'm glad you pushed to come in tonight.
Barbara: Being here has made all the difference, Doctor.
Dr. Kittredge: And now that it's out there, it's harder to go backwards.
Barbara: Believe me, straight ahead, that's what I want. Nothing's going to knock me off course.
Holden: Jack can't make it tomorrow, but if the rest of the family can --
Lily: Emma thinks it's a great idea.
Holden: Yeah, so do I.
Lily: Oh God.
Holden: Thanks. So, did you reach Craig?
Lily: Don't worry about that. Forget it.
Holden: You did call him, didn't you? While I was talking to Jack?
Lily: Well, his cell phone is here, it's not working, obviously. I've tried everywhere else, nobody has, you know --
Holden: Maybe he doesn't want to be found.
Holden: I'm going to head to the hospital.
Lily: When I get the kids up in the morning and get them ready, I'll bring them over.
Lily: Holden. You think I should just forget about this thing with Craig, don't you?
Holden: That's your decision.
Lily: But you think I should.
Holden: I think anyone who helps Craig, should realize that they're going to end up getting' burned. And deep down, I think you know that.
Hal: Legally, it's not a crime. Ethically, it's a really bad idea.
Emily: Well, do you have a better one? Carly needs to be alone with Jack, honey. And if we didn't step in and Jack -- I don't know, he might wonder off into this other half life where he never remembers who he is, or remembers his children or his wife. That's not right either, is it?
Emily: Well, so, are you on board or what?
Hal: Well, honey, it's dishonest. And, plus, it's not even fair to jack.
Emily: But it's the right thing to do. Can't you see that?
Hal: No, we've never had this conversation.
Emily: Oh, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is why I love you so much.
Hal: Right, I'm a deaf man with beagle eyes.
Hal: You know why I love you?
Emily: Tell me.
Hal: I love the way your mind works.
Emily: You see, I knew that. So ,you want to find out what else still works?
Hal: Oh yeah.
Emily: Yeah? [Phone rings] No, no, no. Don't take that. You touch that button, I'm telling you, I'm taking every credit card and I'm going -- thank you, Lily.
Hal: She never calls unless it's an emergency.
Emily: Yeah, I know that.
Lily: Hal, its Lily. I'm sorry bother you so late, but I'm a little worried.
Hal: Yeah, trouble?
Lily: It could be, but --
Hal: But what, Lily?
Lily: Could you please come over? Something is definitely wrong.
Guard: What time should I pick you up tomorrow?
Guard: Dr. Kittredge said you have an appointment, tomorrow.
Barbara: Oh. Well, I'll call him in the morning and make all the arrangements. Thank you very much. Goodnight. Hal?
Jack: Thinking about this?
Julia: I didn't wear it in. I didn't want to set her off.
Jack: You don't have to deal with Carly, you know, not so up close.
Julia: I know, but it's more about the children. I told you, Jack. We're gonna have to try to work something out for their sake, you know? And it doesn't hurt to start trying to be decent now. I mean, once I got over being a suspicious which it was really pretty easy. What?
Jack: I'm glad you want to try. I love you that you want to try -- but do me a favor? While I'm gone -- really -- until she signs those divorce papers -- stay clear of Carly.
Julia: Deal. Deal.
Carly: Hi. Come in.
Emily: You know, something told me I was supposed to drop by. What are you still doing here? If you don't get to the airport you're gonna miss the last flight out, honey.
Carly: I know.
Emily: You know?
Emily: What happened?
Emily: What'd she pull now?
Carly: She -- dropped by. Mm-hmm.
Emily: Yeah, and?
Carly: Well -- she was nice. She was suspicious, at first, about the call from Brad. She saw my bag.
Emily: Oh, no. You talked your way out of that didn't you?
Carly: Yeah. I'm so out of practice I was babbling on about Dolores. Anyway, she thanked me. She admitted that she hadn't trusted me, and she apologized --
Emily: Okay, timeout.
Carly: I think she's taking the high road.
Emily: Excuse me! Can I -- can I take a moment and get sick here? Are we having second thoughts? Carly?! What are we -- what are you doing? This is the woman who married a man out of his hospital bed -- she didn't even know who he was.
Carly: I know.
Emily: She kept Jack from you when you were desperate to find him.
Carly: I know!
Emily: You know?
Carly: Yes! I just had this moment -- when I understood Julia. And I agreed with her. And I -- sometimes, I wish I could be different.
Emily: Okay, now you are scaring me.
Carly: Don't worry. Don't worry. That side didn't win. I sat here trying to convince myself not to go to Montana. But I can't do that. A better person might take that road. But not me, that won't get me Jack back, will it?
Emily: No, it will not. You deserve a fighting chance.
Carly: Yes, I do. That's it! That is the bottom line! This may be my very last chance and I don't care if I have to lie and cheat to make it happen. I will not let Jack go without using every single weapon I've got.
On the next "As the World Turns" --
Jack: So you have no listing for Brad Snyder in the entire state?
Hannah: He's expecting to see his brother and his sick mother. When he sees you instead --
Carly: He'll be furious. It'll be worth it if he remembers.
Julia: What's up?
Holden: Jack's mother and brother -- they're not in Montana.
