As The World Turns Transcript Friday 3/8/02
Rose: Paul? Paul? Are you there? Can you hear me?
Lily: Are you all right? Who is it?
Rose: Look, I know you're probably mad at me, and I don't blame you at all. Having Lily dress up like me at that party was just stupid! But, see, I got this phone call from Vince and --
Paul: No, no, no. I know. It's all right. I'm not mad at you.
Paul: I've never been happier to hear from someone in my whole life.
Rose: You don't know how glad I am to hear you say that.
Paul: I should have never doubted you. I should have trusted you. Just tell me you're all right. Tell me you're not hurt. Tell me where to find you!
Lily: Paul, is that -- ?
Rose: Lily! Is that my sister?
Paul: Yeah, Rose, Lily's gonna grab the phone in two seconds, so I'd better give it to her. But, hey, not for long, okay? Not for long.
Lily: Hey! How are you? This is amazing! Are you all right?
Rose: Well, I'm all right, considering I woke up in a coffin.
Lily: I'm sorry. Did you just say you woke up in a coffin?
Rose: I did. It's a long story, but that's pretty much the gist of it.
Lily: I don't believe this. I had a dream about you, and you were lying in a coffin.
Rose: You did? Oh, that's freaky. I guess they say it's, you know, in the genes.
Lily: It was so frightening. It felt so real.
Rose: You should've felt it from the inside. Enough about that. Just tell me -- how is everybody?
How is Holden and Luke and Faith?
Lily: Fine. Wonderful.
Rose: And Lucinda?
Lily: She's going crazy, missing you. Now, listen, you have to get back here to us. Or you have to tell Paul how to get to you. All right, I have to give him the phone, or else he's gonna have a nervous breakdown. I love you, Rose.
Rose: I love you, too.
Paul: Okay. Okay, sweetheart? Where are you? And how long will it take for me to get there?
Rose: Well, that might be a problem.
Rose: Well, right now I'm in the middle of a cemetery. Other than that, I don't know where in the world I am.
Barbara: What are you doing here?
Julia: Is that any way to greet your best friend in the whole wide world?
Barbara: No. No, it's not. I'm glad to see you.
Julia: You sure? I don't get a whole lot of that these days.
Barbara: I'm positive. I'm positive. You're here. That means you've been released from the hospital.
Julia: Right! I'm cured. Isn't that the best news?
Barbara: Yes. Yes, it is. And you look -- you said you needed help.
Julia: Where are you going?
Barbara: To get you bandages and antiseptic.
Julia: Oh, oh, wait. You think I'm upset because of a couple of scrapes and scratches? You don't know the half of it, honey.
Barbara: What happened, Julia?
Julia: Jack tried to kill me.
Barbara: That's impossible.
Julia: You're not taking his side, are you? It was pure hell, Barbara.
Barbara: I'm -- I'm sure it was. But, Julia, you're here, and you look fine.
Julia: He's certifiable. I'm not kidding. I got away from that nut by the -- the skin of my teeth.
Barbara: Where did this happen, Julia? Where is Jack now?
Julia: Why do you ask?
Barbara: Oh, just curious.
Julia: I don't think so. I think Jack is the one you really care about.
Barbara: Isn't it possible that I care about both of you?
Julia: "Where's Jack now?" Come on, Barbara! I could hear it in your voice!
Barbara: No, it's just that Jack's a cop. It's a very stressful job. And sometimes, these cops, they just snap, you know? And if that has happened to Jack, I just want to know where he is so he doesn't hurt anyone else.
Julia: Well, you know what? There's no need to be concerned. Jack is doing just fine. In fact, I think we could say that Jack is doing swimmingly.
Simon: Jack? Jack! Can you hear me?
Paul: Rose, I don't understand. How can you call me if you don't know where you are?
Rose: It was like I was telling Lily. I was in this coffin, about to be buried.
Paul: Buried al -- buried alive? What happened?
Rose: It was the only way I could get out of the death spa.
Paul: Death spa? What -- ?
Rose: I know you have a lot of questions, but if I try to explain everything, we're gonna lose the battery on this cell phone.
Paul: All right, you're right. You're right. All right, go ahead.
Rose: So I'm in the coffin, I'm banging on the top, and this gravedigger, my new best friend, comes and opens it up.
Paul: Are Emily and Carly with you?
Rose: No, I -- no, I left without them. I didn't want to, but it was my only shot to get out of that place.
Paul: Don't worry about that. We will do everything -- everything we possibly can, to save them. Now, Rose, is that gravedigger still there?
Rose: He sure is. And he brought a friend with him, too. That's whose cell phone I'm using.
Paul: Ask them where you are.
Rose: One of them does speak a little English. He did say something about Herbenstock. Something like that.
Paul: I -- I don't know where that is. Ask him what country it's in.
Rose: That's a very good idea. Very good idea. Hi. You said we were in -- ?
Gravedigger #2: Hertogenbosch.
Rose: Hertogenbosch. Did you hear that? We need to know what country. Well, you have the world, right? You got the world there. And then you got Canada. And you got France. France. And China. Australia. And --
Gravedigger #2: Oh, oui! Belgium.
Rose: Belgium. Belgium. Belgium. Belgium! Did you hear that? Belgium! Like the chocolate. Oh, thank God! Thank you! Thank you so much! Thank you, Belgium! Hello, Belgium! I love your country! I love it so much!
Simon: Jack! Jack! Can you hear me, Jack?
Craig: Is he all right?
Simon: I don't know. He's not breathing. Jack, Jack.
Simon: Jack, are you okay?
Jack: No. No.
Simon: Craig, help me with these straps.
Craig: Jack! Hey, Jack, where's my car? Did Julia take my car?
Simon: Look at the tire tracks, Craig. Where are they going?
Craig: What, in there?
Simon: Yeah, Julia followed your instructions to the letter.
Craig: Oh, I just had it detailed, too.
Simon: Jack, you all right? What's the matter?
Jack: I'm freezing. I'm freezing.
Margo: Jack! Oh, Jack. Jack. How is he? How's he doing? Is he okay?
Simon: He's alive. He's alive.
Margo: You pulled him out of there?
Simon: About 30 seconds ago.
Margo: Oh, man. That -- that was a close one, wasn't it?
Jack: Where's Julia?
Simon: Don't know.
Margo: I don't know. I'm sorry, Jack. She got away.
Julia: Oh, sure. People think Jack is Mr. Dependable, Mr. Brave,
Mr. Honest! Well, they don't know him like I did.
Barbara: People thought the same thing about Hal, you know.
Julia: Don't they realize what he did to me?! Our lives were perfect till he dumped me for that slut!
Barbara: I remember how upset you were, too.
Julia: "Upset?" Barbara, I lost my mind. Where have you been?
Barbara: I'm sorry.
Julia: Ever since -- ever since he allowed himself to be seduced by Carly, my life has been in a shambles. But I've put a stop to all of that. And now everything's gonna be better.
Barbara: I can see that. I can see that things have turned around for you.
Julia: Well, they couldn't get much worse, could they? I thought the psych ward at Memorial was bad. This last place was a nightmare. "Lower your voice, Julia. How would you like another six hours in solitary, Julia?"
Barbara: Well, you have to look forward now. These next several months will be critical for you.
Julia: Why's that?
Barbara: I just know from personal experience.
Julia: Go on.
Barbara: I was in the hospital, too. Remember? And even though it was for a very different reason, it had emotional trauma attached to it. And when I got out, I didn't acknowledge that. And people were trying to help me, and I wouldn't let them. And eventually, they stopped trying, Julia!
Julia: So you think the same thing could happen to me?
Barbara: It could.
Julia: Not likely. Someone would have to care about me first.
Barbara: I do. That's why I'm glad that you came here to me for help.
Julia: You -- you really mean that?
Barbara: I'm your friend, Julia, and I'll do anything I can to help you through this.
Julia: Okay. You have James Steinbeck's phone number on your speed dial? 'Cause I really need you to call him for me.
Hal: I only have one more of these. I'm gonna have to get more of these from the hospital. Of course, Margo's gonna have security on high alert over there, so I'm gonna have to be very careful. But of course, I won't fail you. You're cold. Too cold. Something's wrong.
Paul: She's in Belgium.
Lily: Give me the phone. Give me the phone. Rose, honey, this is what I want you to do. I want you to stay where you are, and we will come to find you.
Rose: I'm sorry, Lily. I cannot do that.
Lily: Why not?
Rose: You ever spend the night in a graveyard?
Rose: Me, either, and I'm not starting now.
Paul: Here. Hey, I have an idea of how we can speed this along. Can you get to the airport in Brussels?
Rose: Hang on. Let me find out. Um -- you drive me -- drive -- me to airport? Brussels?
Gravedigger #2: You want us drive you airport, Brussels?
Rose: Yes! Yes! And money is in it, euros, lots -- mucho euros for you. Whatever.
Gravedigger #1: Oui.
Rose: Ah! He speaks! Fantastic! Yes, okay! I can get a ride to the airport! What do you want me to do?
Paul: I'll arrange for a ticket in your name on the first flight out. Now find out which airline it's --
Lily: Wait, wait, wait. No, no.
Paul: Hold on, sweetheart. What?
Lily: You should not put Rose's name anywhere. Whoever was holding Rose captive is gonna be looking for her. If they find out how she got out, they're gonna go to the airport at Brussels.
Paul: Okay, good point. You're right.
Lily: Okay, so why don't we have my mother -- I'll borrow her worldwide jet -- and we can fly to Brussels ourselves and pick her up -- ourselves.
Paul: Okay. All right, great, great. Sweetheart, change of plans. Lily and I are gonna use the worldwide jet. We'll come meet you at the airport.
Rose: You'd come all that way for me?
Paul: Yeah, we're gonna do this in the safest way possible. We're not gonna take any chances on getting you back here.
Rose: Paul, believe me, I am all for that. All right. Brussels airport -- I will be there.
Paul: We'll tell airport security not to release you to anyone but us. Now, all you have to do is locate them when you get there. I can't wait to see you. There's -- there's so much I have to say.
Rose: Oh, yeah? You want to give me a little preview?
Paul: Right -- right now? Okay. Well, you know that -- you know that saying that you don't know what you've got until it's gone? Well, that's been pretty much me for the past few weeks.
Rose: Oh, I know. Thinking about you was the only thing that kept me alive. Sometimes I'd think about you pulling me close to you and --
Paul: I'm gonna be pulling you very close very soon. And this time I'm not ever letting you go.
Rose: Oh, baby, you always know what to say to me.
Paul: Okay, you be safe. You be safe getting to that airport, okay?
Rose: Oh, don't you worry. I've come this far. Nothing is gonna stop me from getting home.
Paul: Okay, we better get off this phone. Okay? Or I'm never gonna get over there. I'll see you soon.
Rose: Soon. Oh, that is music to my ears. And you be careful, too. Okay. Bye-bye. Okay. No speeding, all right? You see a stop sign, stop!
Paul: She's alive.
Lily: Yes, she is! [Lily laughs] yes, she is, and Rose just sounds just so -- just like Rose! She sounds okay.
Paul: And she's gonna be right here with us very soon.
Lily: Very soon.
Paul: Now, hey, hey, hey. Are you sure that jet is here in Oakdale?
Lily: Oh, if it's not, my mother will get another one. She'll hire one.
Paul: Okay, well, let me call her. Let me call her.
Lily: No, no, no. I know -- I don't -- if you don't mind --
Paul: You're right. You're right. She deserves to know this in person. So let's --
both: Let's go.
Lily: Okay. Let's go.
Intercom voice: Dr. Valentino, to the OR, please.
Lucinda: I've done that. I did that. And I think I did the other thing. Oh! All right. Put the -- I think that's it.
[Static] Matthew! Matthew! Oh!
Matthew: Is there a problem, madam?
Lucinda: Yes, there is a problem, Matthew. You can hear my voice, can't you?
Matthew: Perhaps I could be of assistance.
Lucinda: I certainly hope you can. There it is. Set it up, Matthew.
Matthew: A police scanner? Whatever do you want with that?
Lucinda: Well, Matthew, the police are stonewalling me day in and day out on the investigation into Mr. Steinbeck's activities. And I'm going to find things out for myself.
Matthew: I'm sorry, madam. I -- I can't do it.
Lucinda: Why not?
Matthew: I believe that this mechanism is illegal.
Lucinda: Wherever did you get that idea?
Matthew: From a story on TV. A reporter claimed -- a reporter claimed that these scanners can sometimes interfere with the Police Department doing their job.
Lucinda: Their job? They're not doing their job! That's the whole point, Matthew.
Matthew: Even so, I cannot be a party to criminal activities.
Lucinda: Matthew. Since when, Matthew? Since when? Now, do you work for the Police Department or a reporter or me?
Matthew: For you, of course.
Lucinda: How much longer do you imagine you will continue in my employ?
Matthew: Well, on the other hand, what they don't know won't hurt 'em.
Lucinda: Ha-ha. Exactly. All right. Jack be nimble, Jack be quick!
Lucy: Grandmother, is everything all right?
Lucinda: Oh, hi, sweetheart. No, everything is terrible. The whole world is ghastly! Except for you. Hey, let me take that off. Thank you for coming so quickly.
Lucy: You made it sound like it was urgent.
Lucinda: Yeah, it is, a bit. Now, honey, I've been trying to get information about Rose D'Angelo. You know, her disappearance, kidnapping. No one will cooperate with me.
Lucy: I guess you've tried contacting the Police.
Lucinda: Yeah. Of course I did that, darling. You know, they just -- they give me the runaround all the time. And it just occurred to me, that you could help, because as I understand it, your father has been spending a certain amount of time with Detective Snyder lately, hmm?
Lucinda: So you could, in the interests of justice, finding Rose --
Lucy: Pry some information out of him?
Lucinda: I wouldn't use exactly those words, but that's the idea, honey.
Cop: Attention units 7 and 12.
Robbery in progress on Harrison Street.
Lucinda: Wow! Hey!
Cop: -- Electronics. Proceed with caution.
Lucinda: By George! Matthew, you did it!
Matthew: Yes, it's an accomplishment I'd prefer not to acknowledge.
Cop: -- Request a tow truck at the boat landing off Hawthorne to retrieve sunken vehicle.
Lucinda: Turn it up.
Cop: Passenger, Detective Jack Snyder, has been removed from vehicle, and EMS is on the scene.
Lucinda: Turn it up! I think I heard "Jack Snyder."
Cop: Units and EMS will transport Detective Snyder to Memorial hospital, along
with two Caucasian males, Simon Frasier and Craig Montgomery.
Lucy: My father?
Lucinda: Oh, honey.
EMT #1: Look left. Right.
Margo: Well, how's he doing?
EMT #1: Vital signs are good.
Craig: Did you call somebody to get my car out of the river?
Margo: It's really not a top priority right now.
Craig: Well, can I use your cell phone? I'll call myself.
Margo: No, you can't. I got to keep that line open.
Craig: Do you have a cell phone?
EMT #1: In the ambulance.
Craig: All right, let's go.
EMT #2: Is there much discomfort here?
Jack: Yeah, a lot.
Margo: Hey, how are you doing, huh?
Jack: I'm fine. I'm fine.
Margo: Yeah. You, Simon?
Simon: Oh, yeah. Never been better. Great.
Jack: How's -- how's Mitzi doing? Anybody been in touch with her?
Margo: She's okay. She's safe. Don't worry.
Jack: What about Carly? Anything new while I was out of commission?
Margo: No, we still haven't found her, but got a few new leads.
Jack: Tell me.
EMT #2: No, I'm sorry, detective. It looks like you might have broken this leg again. And he's got a high fever.
Margo: Yeah, why don't we talk after you've been treated? Let's get you into the hospital. You, too, Simon.
Simon: I just need a hot bath and a massage. I'll be fine.
Margo: No, not taking chances with either one of you. Into the ambulance. No back talk.
Simon: It seems she means it, mate. Come on.
Margo: Come on. Get into the ambulance, Craig.
Craig: I'm talking to the insurance agent --
Margo: Call him back!
Craig: All right, Ralph, I'm gonna have to call you back. All right. Thank you.
Margo: Wait a minute. Why isn't he on a stretcher?
EMT #2: 'Cause he refused it.
Jack: Is anyone looking for Julia?
Margo: Yes. I've got a bulletin out in three states. They'll call me directly if anyone ID's her.
Jack: She's more dangerous than ever, Margo. Until she's found, none of us are safe. Come on.
Barbara: I'd do anything for you, Julia. But I can't call James!
Julia: No, you don't understand. He told me that he would help me if I got in trouble.
Barbara: I know you think that he can help you --
Julia: Oh, stop, Barbara! I know why you're not calling him! You hate me, don't you?
Barbara: No. Why would you think that?
Julia: Because of what happened. The boat house.
Barbara: No. Julia -- I know you didn't mean to hurt me. I don't harbor any grudges against you!
Julia: I don't believe you.
Julia: Because no matter how hard I tried, I -- I can't forgive myself.
Barbara: I do understand.
Julia: When -- when I found out -- when they told me that it was you instead of that home-wrecking whore that was -- I thought that everything that people had said about me was true -- that I was a horrible person, and nobody was safe while I was around.
Barbara: I've never thought that.
Julia: I always wanted to apologize to you, Barbara, but I couldn't because I was afraid you wouldn't accept it.
Barbara: Do you want to apologize now?
Julia: All right. I know I've ruined your life. But it wasn't my fault! That didn't come out right. My mind, my mind -- thoughts racing through -- I can't get them out.
Barbara: A simple "I'm sorry" would be good enough for me.
Julia: I'm sorry, Barbara. I'm so, so sorry.
Barbara: Apology accepted.
Julia: I don't know how you did that.
Julia: Forgive me.
Barbara: I can forgive you because, just like you came here tonight, I'm your friend.
Julia: You're right! You're right. We are friends, aren't we? I mean, after everything that happened, we're still friends.
Barbara: Yes, we are, and friends help each other, don't they?
Barbara: I want you to let me help you. I want you to let me call Dr. Michaels.
Julia: That witch? What for?!
Barbara: Because she's your doctor, Julia. She can help you.
Julia: I don't need doctors anymore! I told you I was released!
Barbara: Everybody needs a little follow-up every once in awhile. Let me make an appointment for you, please, Julia!
Julia: Doctors don't work. Medicine doesn't work. And even straitjackets have to come off sometime. Now, Barbara, the only person who can help me right now is James Steinbeck!
Barbara: I know he thinks that he --
Julia: You told me you were my friend! You told me you forgive me. Now call him, Barbara, or I'm gonna be very angry with you.
Lucinda: Oh, honey, there's no reason for any of us to get upset. I mean, we don't know that anybody was seriously injured.
Lucy: They've been taken to the hospital! No, no, I have to -- I have to go to the hospital. I have to see if my dad and my uncle are okay.
Lucinda: Well, of course you have to, darling, and you will. Matthew! Matthew, for heaven's sake, would you get Fenwick?
Matthew: Yes, ma'am.
Lucinda: And have him bring the car around, please?
Lucy: How do you think this could have happened?
Lucinda: I have no idea, darling. We'll get there. We'll get the details. Until then, just compose yourself and try to be calm.
Lucy: No, no, I don't think -- I don't think I can do that. I never used to worry about anything , but since Bryant's been gone, I just can't help but think of all the awful things that could have happened to them. What if --
Lucinda: Oh, darling, it's gonna be all right. Now, don't you worry about a thing, a thing, a thing, a thing, a thing! I'm gonna make it all right.
Lily: Mother, we need the Worldwide jet. We need to get to Belgium right now.
Lucinda: Could you at least say something and say hi to your niece or something, dear?
Lily: Hello. Hi. I'm sorry.
Lucinda: Have you met, Paul Ryan, Lucy?
Paul: Lucinda, this is an emergency. It's a wonderful, wonderful emergency, but --
Lily: We found Rose.
Lily: Yes, yes!
Paul: Actually, she found us. She called me on my cell phone. She's waiting for us at Brussels airport. Lucinda, she's -- she's all right.
Lucinda: She's alive, and she's -- good news.
Lucy: Is that where she's been all the time, Belgium?
Paul: She's not sure.
Lucinda: Well, where -- where's she been?
Lily: We don't have time for these questions right now.
Lucinda: Of course we don't have time.
Lily: We need to get to Brussels right away.
Lucinda: We'll talk on the plane.
Lily: On the plane? On the plane? Did you just say that?
Lucinda: Darling, you don't think that I'm gonna -- I'm not gonna let you go without me.
Lily: Oh, well --
Lucinda: Honey, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I wanted to come to the hospital with you. But who could have anticipated --
Lucy: No, no, you don't have to explain. You go see about aunt Rose. I'll take care of this myself.
Lucinda: All right. Sweetheart, I've got all the confidence in you. All right?
Matthew: Excuse me? Fenwick is out front.
Lucinda: Thank you. Thank you.
Lucy: It'll just be me, Matthew. Good luck, everyone.
Paul: All right.
Lucy: Tell aunt Rose I can't wait to see her.
Lily: Okay, we'll do that. Okay. All right.
Lucinda: Thank you, Matthew! Thank you. All right, I'll call the pilot. We'll get the flight plan, and we'll get your -- we'll meet.
Lily: We'll meet at the airport very soon. Okay?
Paul: All right, let's --
John: This is for the staph infection in your leg. You take those, Jack, until they are gone, even if you start to feel better.
John: These are for pain. And no one is gonna have to remind you to take these.
Jack: Thanks. How bad's the new break?
John: It's a good one, Jack. You keep doing this, you'll get another case of gangrene.
Jack: If Simon hadn't saved me when he did, it wouldn't have mattered, right? It's a joke, John! You remember those? Can I please go home now?
John: No, you may not. Look, I want you to spend the night here so I can make some observations, okay?
Jack: No, I'll take the meds. What more do you want?
John: What I want is to make sure that your lungs are clear, Jack! And that you get a good night's rest.
Jack: The pills will do just fine. Okay, I'll go straight home. I'll sleep until noon. Satisfied?
John: I'm not making myself clear to you, am I? I want --
Margo: Hi! Mind if I come in?
Jack: Not at all.
Margo: How's our patient doing?
Jack: I'm fine! Will you tell him?
John: You're not as fine as you think. I want to keep him here tonight for observations. He wants to go home, sign himself out.
Margo: Why don't you just stay and relax? There's nothing you can do, anyway.
Jack: Yeah, maybe. But there's plenty Julia can do, and I want to stop her.
Margo: Okay, John, he's just -- he's not gonna stay.
John: Well, then I'm not gonna stay, either. I'll call you in the morning to see how well you slept. Okay? Don't try to drive on that.
John: And when you leave, you are gonna have to sign out. You do know how to write, don't you, Jack?
Jack: Thank you, Dr. John.
John: Just pick a sign, a star or whatever --
Jack: Thank you very much. Margo, I want to go over everything that happened to me. I want to write out a full report. That way, we can prosecute fully when we catch Julia.
Margo: Do we really have to do this right away?
Jack: Yes, we do, right away.
Margo: I'll go get a pencil and paper.
Jack: Thank you.
Simon: How are you doing?
Jack: Not bad. How are you doing? What's behind your back?
Jack: What's behind your back?
Simon: Oh! Oh, I thought you might get some use of this.
Simon: And here, this is for you.
Jack: Oh. Hey, where'd you get this?
Simon: Oh, the gift shop downstairs.
Jack: How much do I owe you? Besides my life.
Simon: Oh, well, actually, 20 bucks, actually. It's not cheap.
Jack: Seriously. I wasn't getting out of that car. If not for you -- who knows? They might be naming one of those rooms at the station after me.
Simon: Come on, you would've done the same thing for me. You know it.
Jack: Well, don't make that possible, please. But if you do, you know I got your back.
Simon: Yeah, I know.
Jack: Thank you so much.
Simon: You take care of yourself, man.
Jack: All right. You, too, Simon.
Margo: Look, before we start this, there's something you should know. Hal came back while you were away.
Margo: No, I'm not so sure about that.
Margo: Because something's wrong with him, Jack. He's not acting like himself. He's not acting like any human being I've ever met.
Hal: Your temperature's dropping. Temperature's dropping. I don't know what to do. You need help. I'm not a doctor. I'm not a doctor! What am I gonna do?! I know what to do. I get a doctor, I bring him to you. I get a doctor, I bring him to you. I get a doctor, I bring him to you.
Barbara: I'm sorry, Julia. But I can't call James.
Julia: Can't, or won't?
Julia: You're lying! I know that he has been helping you for months to get rid of those three losers!
Barbara: I'm not denying that, but I can't --
Julia: You said you're my friend! You're just like everybody else! You say you're gonna help me, but then when I finally get around to asking for something, the answer is always no!
Barbara: I can't call him because he's in a coma!
Julia: A coma? Come on, Barbara. Come up with something a little more original. How about -- oh, I know. How about a hole opened up, and James fell into the center of the earth?
Barbara: There was a fire at the boat house last night --
Julia: Another one? What's it gonna take to get rid of that place?
Barbara: It's the truth! There was a fire. He fell. He hit his head. He would have burned up, but Paul dragged him out of there and saved him.
Julia: Paul saved James. Right. And I suppose Santa Claus really does have a toy shop up at the north pole, huh?
Barbara: That's what happened! He saved him. But James has been in a coma ever since, Julia.
Julia: You have no idea what I'm capable of, do you?
Barbara: I know that you've made mistakes. But you've changed. I can see that.
Julia: Bull. I will destroy anyone who crosses me and not think twice about it. Now, are you gonna call James, or do I have to break that scarred-up face of yours?
Barbara: I'll call him. Just give me a minute to look up the number.
Julia: You just make it snappy, okay, Babs? I don't have all night.
Barbara: Okay. Here we are. Here we are. All right. Yes. Okay. It's ringing. It's ringing.
[Cell phone ringing]
Margo: Hold on. This could be about Julia. Detective Hughes.
Barbara: Hello, James. It's me. It's Barbara.
Hal: Excuse me, John.
John: There you are! Hey, listen, I thought you were gonna come by and see Parker by now.
Hal: Well, I knew he was okay, because he was with you.
John: Oh, maybe so, but he's been asking about his father. You think you could come by tomorrow morning?
Hal: I'll do my best.
Hal: John --
Hal: Something terrible happened tonight.
John: Oh, listen, I know. Jack's been hurt, but he's gonna be okay. I think he's gonna pull --
Hal: John, I need your help. It's very important.
John: Something personal?
Hal: I'll tell you on the way. We really have to go.
John: All right, fine, I was leaving. You know, Margo's here if you'd like to talk to her.
Hal: Margo can't know about this. Or Jack. This has to stay strictly between us.
John: I'm sure you wouldn't say that if it wasn't necessary.
Hal: Can we leave now?
John: Sure, sure. Let me get my bag.
Hal: Hurry. Let's go. Come on.
Craig: Sweetness! Sweetness!
Lucy: Are you okay?
Craig: We're fine. How did you get here?
Lucy: Oh, I was with grandmother. And we heard about an accident on her Police scanner. And it said that --
Craig: Wait, wait, wait. Your grandmother has a Police scanner? Nice hobby.
Lucy: The report said that Detective Snyder was in a car that went into the river? And that you and Uncle Simon were there, too.
Craig: Yes, well, everything is okay. Jack got himself into a little situation. We got him out of it.
Simon: Yeah, yeah. Well, that's the short version, anyway.
Lucy: You can tell me the details later. I just wanted to make sure that you two were safe.
Craig: No, we're fine. See? Huh? Now, speaking of safe, how did you get here?
Lucy: I didn't drive, if that's what you mean. Fenwick brought me. And he's waiting outside.
Craig: Well, now, did Lucinda let you come alone? She keeps a guard outside your bedroom.
Lucy: Well, she was gonna come, but then Aunt Lily and Paul Ryan came to tell her that they heard from Rose.
Craig: They heard from Rose? Just Rose? Not Carly, Emily?
Simon: Where is she? Where's Rose?
Lucy: Belgium. The three of them took the Worldwide jet to go pick her up in the Brussels airport.
Craig: And Rose didn't say anything about Carly?
Lucy: I don't think so. Rose is the only one they're gonna pick up.
Craig: Simon, would you do me a favor and please take Lucy home? I've got to get to the airport.
Simon: Let it go, Craig. Let Lucinda get her. You question her later on.
Craig: Would you rather I discuss the situation with Katie?
Simon: All right. But don't you think you should tell Jack before you leave?
Craig: The man's been traumatized, Simon! He needs rest.
Margo: Barbara, it's Margo. Is there a reason that you're calling me James?
Barbara: Yes. I'm sure you're surprised to hear from me, James. But Julia wanted me to contact you.
Margo: Is Julia with you? Where are you?
Barbara: We're at Fairwinds. Julia said she needs help, and she'd like you to come here.
Julia: Tell him to make sure that he's not followed by the Police!
Barbara: Julia said to make sure that you're not followed. She doesn't want the Police involved.
Margo: Okay. You just relax, hold tight. We will be there as soon as we possibly can. Here, keep her on the line. I'm gonna call the station from outside.
Jack: Barbara, it's Jack. Is Julia armed?
Barbara: I'm not sure. Julia's very upset.
Julia: Let me talk to him!
Jack: Barbara, hang up now!
Julia: Hey, what's the matter?!
Barbara: Oh, no. No, no, no.
Barbara: He was in the car --
Julia: Give me that!
Jack: Barbara, can you hear me? Barbara?
Julia: Oh, she's -- she's here, Jack. But not for long.
Lucinda: Wesley, why are we still on the tarmac?
Wesley: We should be getting clearance any minute, Ms. Walsh.
Lucinda: "Any minute"? Come on! Get on -- you know, call the tower immediately, all right? And if you have problems with them, I'll speak to them.
Wesley: Yes, ma'am.
Lucinda: Okay. [Lucinda sighs]
Lily: Now, it is show and tell at Faith's pre-school tomorrow, so make sure she brings something. And Luke doesn't have to bring a lunch because they're going on a field trip. To a doughnut factory. Yes. I know, it's very educational, isn't it? Thank you so much, Holden, for taking care of this. I -- it just happened so fast, and we have -- I know I don't have to thank you. Right. Just kiss the kids good night for me and tell them I am bringing Aunt Rose home tomorrow. They'll be happy to hear that. I love you, too. Bye.
Paul: Everything under control?
Lily: It's perfect. Everything's perfect.
Paul: All right. Can I ask you a question? What do you think of this shirt?
Lily: I like it.
Paul: Does the color -- does it do anything for me?
Lily: What are you worried about the shirt for? Don't worry about it. Rose is not gonna look at your shirt. She's gonna kiss you from head to toe.
Paul: Okay. I guess I'm just a little nervous.
Lily: Yes, me, too. Me, too. Just been waiting so long for this reunion, I just can't believe it's here. And -- I hope she's okay.
Lucinda: Okay, kids! Fasten your seat belts.
Lucinda: It's gonna be a bumpy ride.
Lily: Let's go.
Lucinda: Go! Go, go, go, go.
Craig: Are there pillows for four? I want to be rested by the time we get to Belgium.
Julia: I trusted you, Barbara! And you betrayed me!
Barbara: I was -- I was just trying to help, Julia! Because I care about you!
Jack: Barbara? Barbara!
Julia: Is that my little pumpkin? Huh? Oh, sweetie, I thought you'd be all bloated and discolored by now.
Jack: Julia, listen to me. Barbara is on your side. There's no reason to hurt her.
Julia: Do you know how irritating it is to have everybody telling me what to do all the time? Hmm? "Get up, Julia. Time for dinner, Julia. Stop howling like a wolf, Julia." Well, Jack, I am sick of it! So I'm gonna do exactly what I please from now on.
Jack: I'll make you a deal, okay? Julia, you leave Barbara alone, and you won't be charged for what you did to me.
Julia: You think I care about that, Jack? Huh? I'm too crazy to go to jail, anyway.
Jack: You need to see a doctor, Julia. They need to regulate your medication. That's probably what's causing all these --
Julia: Stop right there! And don't you do it again! She tried to escape from me, Jack. You call that being on my side, huh?
Jack: She was frightened, Julia.
Julia: She made me apologize to her, Jack. And then she called the cops! Do you have any idea how angry that makes me? No. No, you couldn't possibly. Could you?
Barbara: Oh, oh. No, no! Don't hurt me! Don't hurt me!
