As the World Turns Transcript Thursday 1/24/02
Katie: It's raining men.
Katie: Julian, are you sure these guys are the cream of the crop?
Julian: I put a call out to every piece of prime male model in the region. I think you'll be pleased.
Lucy: These guys'll definitely ace your video.
Katie: Well, honey, great bodies are not just born. They are created. And don't you get any ideas, please.
Julian: He has a lot of local modeling experience.
Katie: Wow. He definitely has a great face. It's what's behind that matters. We cannot create a butt-buster workout without buns of steel, people.
Julian: So watch them in action. The guys are ready to go.
Dahlia: He's right. They're out there, lined up, ready to go. Shall we start?
Katie: Let's do this.
Dahlia: Okay. I'll start the music.
Katie: All right. Well, bachelor number one, front and center. Name, please?
Dancer #1: Mark Wilson.
Katie: Woo! All right. Bachelor number two.
Dancer #2: Trey Turner.
Katie: Trey Turner.
Julian: You're late. Did the agency send you?
Simon: What agency? Who are you?
Julian: Great voice. Too bad nobody will hear it. Now, go change before they call you.
Simon: Call me for -- call me -- hey, call me for what?
Julian: A review of your hindquarters. Now, move it. Out of those clothes and into some spandex. And make it snappy.
Jake: The Jake McKinnon diet -- all chocolate, all the time.
Molly: You remembered the mini marshmallows.
Jake: Only the best.
Molly: Are we okay?
Jake: We are better than we've been in a long time.
Molly: I wouldn't blame you for being angry with me. I should've told you right away what happened that night --
Jake: Okay, all right. I am banning the words "should" and "blame" from anyone bearing the last name McKinnon.
Molly: I'm just so tired.
Jake: That's what these shoulders are for. Come here. Look, I may be dancing on some quicksand here, but there's no -- no way Abigail believes that Nick was alive when you got to that boarding house.
Molly: You don't know that.
Jake: Her subconscious is working overtime. Dr. Michaels confirmed it. I mean, she -- she knows she clocked Scudder with that music box. And when it comes to the surface, she's gonna come unglued. Job one is to help her deal with that.
Molly: What if we can't?
Jake: Well, she's your daughter, so that gives her a leg up in the guts department. Hey -- I think it's about time we took our new information to our friends at the Police department.
Molly: No! No, Jake. There's no way that I'm handing my daughter over to the cops.
Jennifer: I can't even imagine what you've been through the last couple of weeks. I am so sorry. I should've called to check in. I feel terrible.
Abigail: No, it -- I really wouldn't have listened to you any more than I did Jake or Molly or Holden or Adam --
Jennifer: Yeah, but I wish I could've tried, though, at least.
Abigail: It wouldn't have changed anything. I know what I have to do now.
Holden: You know what you feel. But that doesn't mean that you have to act on impulse. You can't make any rash decisions right now.
Abigail: This isn't rash, Holden.
Jennifer: What's -- what's going on?
Abigail: It won't be a secret for long.
Holden: We need to talk to Tom first.
Abigail: Holden, he's just gonna try to change my mind. Jen -- Molly's innocent. I'm gonna go tell the Police who really killed Nick.
Abigail: I did.
Jennifer: No, Abigail, that's insane. You wouldn't hurt anybody.
Abigail: Jen, I remembered! What I remember most is wanting him dead. Please, don't stop me. I just -- I know what I have to do.
Jennifer: No! The hell you are! You are not gonna throw away the rest of your life for a creep like Nick Scudder.
Adam: Do you want it in writing?! I killed Nick, all right? I wanted him dead, and I wanted him out of Abigail's life. Will you please just give me something to sign?
Hal: Oh, it's not that simple, Adam.
Margo: We should call the lawyer back in.
Adam: No. No, I don't -- I don't need a lawyer.
Hal: Well, you have to be careful about what you say in front of us now, Adam.
Margo: You're the one who keeps reminding us that we're more than just your parents.
Hal: We're Police officers.
Adam: Yes, but a lawyer is not gonna change the facts. Okay? Look, I want to talk to you about this, dad. Will you please just listen? I'm gonna tell you exactly what happened the night that Nick died.
Jack: Slocomb? Is Hal here?
Slocomb: In the interrogation room with his kid.
Jack: All right. Paul, we're just gonna have to wait out here.
Paul: You know what? Hal's not gonna like what Lily and I did to my mother. And you know something, Jack? I'm not sure I liked it much either.
Jack: It doesn't matter. At the very least, that note gives us a connection between Steinbeck and Barbara.
Paul: Yeah, but it still doesn't prove my mother had anything to do with those kidnappings.
Jack: It proves that she knows more than she's saying. Barbara is the key to finding Emily, Rose and Carly. And if I have to, I will break every rule in the book to get the truth out of her.
Will: I'm starving.
Jennifer: No, not till mom and dad get home.
Paul: It won't be long, pal.
Hal: Good evening, family.
Will: Hi, dad!
Paul: Hal, you shouldn't have.
Hal: I didn't, wise guy.
Where's your mom?
Jennifer: Upstairs changing.
Hal: Boy, everything looks great.
Do you realize how lucky we are to have your
mom back in our lives?
Barbara: No, Hal. I'm the lucky one.
And I have a surprise for all of you.
Paul: You look beautiful!
Hal: I will second that.
Barbara: Are those for me?
Hal: They certainly are.
Paul: But what - how did you do this?
Barbara: Look, Paul. My scars -- they're all gone.
It's a miracle.
Hal: Well, this certainly calls for a celebration.
Paul: Mom, I'll break out the champagne.
Barbara: Thank you.
And, while we're at it, let's celebrate my return to B. R. O.
What do you think of my latest creation?
Paul: That's your ensemble?
Barbara: It is.
I have a portfolio bursting with designs,
all because being home again has been such
an inspiration to me.
Hal: No, you are the inspiration.
Well, come on!
Are we gonna let this incredible meal go to
waste, let your mother's hard work count for nothing here?
Please, may I?
Barbara: Yes, you may.
Paul: Well, I say we make a toast to the woman
who made our family whole again.
Hal: To Barbara - the heart and soul of all of us.
Paul: To mom.
Jennifer: To mom.
Barbara: Mmm, thank you all.
And now, let's just hope that my
ham can live up to its reputation.
Hal: I'm sure it'll be perfect.
[Glass breaks] I hate you. I hate you. Leave me alone! Leave me alone!
Adam: I just -- when I heard Abigail's voice on Molly's answering machine, I knew she must've been in trouble. So I drove over there as fast as I could. I must've run a couple of red lights, and I took that shortcut through Lincoln Park. And when I got there -- Nick had his hands on her.
Hey, let go!
Let go of her.
Nick: Get lost!
Abigail: Don't! Adam!
Abigail, get out of here now!
Nick: She's not going' anywhere.
Abigail: Stop it!
Nick: Get over there.
What's the matter with you?
Nick: Pushing me?
Making this difficult for you and
your boyfriend, huh?
Abigail: Get off me!
Hal: What happened after you hit him?
Adam: I was scared. I panicked.
Adam: He's dead.
Come on, Abigail, we got to
get out of here.
Abigail, are you okay?
Abigail, come on.
I'm gonna take care
And it's gonna be okay.
We just got to get out of
here right now.
Adam: Abigail was in shock. She didn't talk about what had happened. I just drove her straight home.
Margo: So you killed Scudder to protect Abigail?
Hal: And yet, you let Molly sit in jail all that time when you knew that she was innocent.
Adam: Well, when she told you guys it was self-defense, I thought you were gonna let her go.
Hal: Mm-hmm. I've got a few things I need to take care of outside. Why don't you two talk for awhile? I won't be long.
Adam: See -- see, I know how this works. You're gonna sit here and question me one-on-one to see if my story stands up. But -- but nothing's gonna change, mom. I killed Nick. And nothing you say is gonna make me go back on that.
Jack: How'd it go with Adam?
Hal: Don't ask.
Paul: You got a few minutes, Hal?
Hal: A few.
Jack: You had to leave before we heard Paul's plan to get the truth out of Barbara.
Hal: I'm listening.
Jack: We got Lily to pose as Rose and accuse Barbara of working with Steinbeck.
Hal: You what?
Paul: Now, relax, Hal. She saw right through it.
Jack: Yeah, but the look on her face when she thought Lily was Rose -- that said everything.
Paul: She practically admitted my father is behind the kidnappings.
Hal: "Practically"? Don't give me "practically," Paul. I need leads. Give me facts.
Jack: Barbara went to Fairwinds because we sent her a note.
Paul: A note that was worded in the way she would think it was from my father.
Jack yeah, but the fact that Barbara showed up -- Hal, come on. It was a clear indication that she wasn't surprised to hear from him, because they had been working together all along.
Hal: Still won't hold up in court. What you've got won't even get a judge's ear.
Jack: What about Auster, the limo driver?
Hal: What about him?
Jack: Well, he picked up Carly in Paris. And he flew out of Oakdale on the same nights that Emily and Rose disappeared.
Paul: And it's the same guy my mother claimed attacked her.
Jack: The same guy that bolted when he heard that Paul was Steinbeck's son -- a little fact that Barbara went out of her way to reveal. Why did he ever even show up at Fairwinds, Hal? What did he want with Barbara? Every lead points back to her. Come on, Hal. If this were anybody else, you'd be working double-time.
Hal: Look, I'll admit that Barbara is not the woman I knew, but I still refuse to believe that she was involved in the kidnapping of three women.
Jack: Take off the blinders, Hal. Barbara's in this up to her neck.
[Knock at the door]
John: Are you all right? I heard a scream and a crash.
Barbara: I -- I broke a plate.
Barbara: Come on in. Hi, honey. Good to see you. Let's get that coat off.
John: You got a broom? I'll help you clean this up.
Barbara: Oh, no, no, it's okay, John, really. And you know what, Parker? Will's in the family room waiting for you. And I bet if you ask him -- come here, you -- he'll let you play that new video of yours. All right? Come on. Will? Parker's home. Could you watch him for a few seconds?
John: Pretty loud scream for a busted plate.
Barbara: Expensive china.
John: How long have you been taking these?
Barbara: I still have some pain. Dr. Schuster prescribed those for me.
John: Yeah. You got to be careful of them.
Barbara: No lectures, John. It's been a day around here. I'm trying to make this wonderful meal for my family, and I'm trying to work. And Hal is a mess because of Emily's disappearance. And I just -- I split one in half, and I took one. Please, don't look at me like that. Don't. I -- I got -- I got a little drowsy. I put my head down. I fell asleep, I had a nightmare, and I screamed. And I must've shoved a plate off the table.
John: If and when you're ready to tell me what's really going on, you give me a call.
Barbara: How do you do it?
John: How do I do what?
Barbara: Shatter every rule, and you keep standing at the hospital?
John: It's true. I am a walking monument to the morally challenged. Listen to me. You can trust me. You know that. You can tell me whatever it is that's going on. I'm on your side.
Barbara: I'm not sure you would be if you heard this. I made a terrible mistake. And I don't know if I can fix it.
Katie: How about some weights? Dahlia, do we have any free weights? And where's bachelor number three? We should check that out.
Dahlia: I'll check with Julian.
Katie: Come on, guys. You can do more than that. Show me what you really got. Oh, what are you doing? Oh, whoa! No. I didn't really mean that. Put me down. No, really. Um, that's good. That's really good. You could put me down now. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, put me down. Thank you. I get it. I was the weight. That was good. I liked that. Very smart. Whoa, whoa. Okay, what's going on now? Oh. Oh, my God.
Simon: Will you get your eyes off my rear end?! Back off! Katie?
Katie: I thought you were in Paris.
Simon: And what is this? What is this? My Eiffel Tower'@welcome?
Katie: Welcome home, sweetheart.
Simon: Guys -- will you put down my wife? Now!
Katie: Okay, guys, seriously. Put me down, please. Thank you. Oh, it's so good to see you! Oh, hey, where are my manners? Trey, Mark, this is my husband, Simon Frasier. Husband, this is my crew. How did you find me?
Simon: Your "crew"? Rappers need a crew. Since when did you need a crew?
Katie: Since the buns of America are in my hands.
Simon: All right, okay, all right. Confusion's always been an integral part of our relationship, but what are you talking about?
Katie: Dahlia, should we tell him? We should tell you the secret, finally.
Dahlia: You know what, guys? Why don't you take a five? Lucy and I are going to go get a soda and give you two some privacy.
Katie: So, what do you think of my brand-new career?
Simon: As a free weight?
Katie: No, as an aerobics instructor. Those guys are for my video.
Simon: Your video -- what kind of videos are you making?
Katie: An aerobic video. "Katie Frasier's all-new butt-busting' workout." Well, at least that's the working title, or something like "get the bod you want from the babe who can give it to you." I told you I was gonna be rich and famous.
Simon: Okay, okay, whoa. So what does Dahlia have to do with all of this?
Katie: Well, she is part mentor, part backer. She's a huge fan of mine from my Woak days.
Simon: A-ha, really? Right.
Katie: In fact, she approached me about teaching a couple aerobics classes, and I did. And then she said I was a natural in front of the camera. Don't be so doubting, please. With my brains, her money and those bodies, we are gonna make tons of money. We're gonna make so much money, we're gonna make Lucinda Walsh look like a bag lady.
Jennifer: I don't care how angry you were that night, Abigail. You'd never murder anyone.
Abigail: I just feel so ashamed.
Jennifer: "Ashamed"? What do you have to feel ashamed about? You've done nothing wrong. Stop guilt-tripping yourself.
Abigail: Jen, I know you want to help, but there's really nothing you can do, except be my friend.
Jennifer: Your best friend. Can I come down to the station with you, at least?
Abigail: You should just go home. Be with your family. I'll call you, okay? I promise.
Holden: I let Lily know we'd be late.
Jennifer: Do you think they're gonna make Abigail stay at the station?
Holden: I don't know. But I'm gonna do everything I can to make sure that doesn't happen.
Abigail: Kind of like Europe. Just being a new experience, right? I love you.
Jennifer: I love you, too. Call me, please?
Holden: I guess if she can't change your mind, I can't do it, either, huh?
Abigail: No. No one can, Holden. I refuse to be the kind of person that would let someone I love pay for a crime I committed. If you were in my place, you would do the same thing.
Margo: How long were you in Scudder's room?
Adam: I don't know. Five, ten minutes?
Margo: Which was it? Five or ten?
Margo: And in that time, you wiped the place down?
Margo: For fingerprints. Because the only prints of yours that we found in there were on that key.
Adam: I wore gloves.
Margo: Latex or your winter gloves?
Adam: My winter gloves.
Margo: Do you have them with you now? Because I'll need them for forensics, Adam. So you never saw Molly at all, huh?
Margo: Where do you suppose she could've been?
Adam: I don't know!
Margo: All right, let me get this straight, Adam. Molly is terribly upset. She rushes over to save her child, yet you make it to the scene before her? You're there for five minutes, you never saw her there at all?
Adam: That is correct.
Margo: Adam -- I can believe that maybe you would be so angry at Nick Scudder that you would hit him. I can believe that you would be scared to tell anybody about it. But I cannot believe that you would let an innocent woman be booked and arraigned for a crime that you committed.
Adam: Maybe you don't know me as well as you think you do, mom.
Margo: Maybe I love you, and maybe that clouds my judgment, but I do know what you're capable of.
Adam: Will you please just book me and get this over with already?
Margo: No, I can't. Not yet. Not till forensics comes back with an analysis of your gloves. So why don't you just go home?
Adam: You're not arresting me?
Margo: No. We'll talk more at home.
Jack: I want to bring Barbara in for questioning, see how she holds up.
Paul: If you do, I want to be here.
Jack: I don't have a problem with that.
Hal: What? You're talking about bringing her in tonight?
Jack: Why wait?
Hal: Aside from the fact that you've got nothing legally?
Jack: Hal, that's a technicality at this point.
Hal: She is preparing dinner. She hasn't had dinner with her kids in months. She's doing something special. She's obviously trying to heal a lot of old wounds.
Jack: Now, now! She's doing that now, Hal, not when her kids needed her most, not when Jennifer was torn up over Bryant's death. I am sorry. I am sorry I'm interfering with her little family dinner tonight. But where do you suppose Emily, Rose and Carly are having dinner?
John: Doctor's orders. It's hot.
Barbara: Thank you.
John: You might as well spill it to me. So what's going on here? 'Cause I'm not leaving until I know that you're okay.
Barbara: I'm as far from "okay" as you can get.
John: And where is that?
Barbara: Somewhere between panic and despair.
John: And why are you panicked?
Barbara: Besides the fact that I don't fit in? Anywhere? That my family has moved on without me? I have nothing anymore, John.
John: You have three children who love you very much. When did that ever add up to "nothing"?
Barbara: What if I don't have your powers of incarnation? What if I can't get my life back? The life that I should always have had?
John: Does this have something to do with Hal and Emily?
Barbara: I could blame Emily, but this is all my fault. I brought this on myself.
John: Well, you are probably very surprised the people that love you -- how forgiving they can be. Whatever it is that you think you have done -- your children will always -- they'll always find the good stuff in you. Believe me, they will. You've got to trust in their love.
Barbara: Oh, I trusted someone. I trusted the wrong person.
John: Craig Montgomery?
Barbara: This person makes Craig look like a choirboy.
John: Who are we talking about?
[James' evil laughter]
Barbara: Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Leave me alone! Leave me alone!
[Evil laughter continues]
John: All right, okay. Listen, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Calm down, take it easy. I'm just trying to help.
Barbara: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get so upset. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
John: Listen, we all trust people from time to time that we shouldn't. You seem to know that, that's a mistake, so you can deal with it. You can get on with your life. And take a look around. Things don't seem to be that bad. I mean, there's dinner, the kids are here, you're here. There's no need to obsess with the past.
Barbara: Especially when I'm right where I want to be.
Barbara: Thank you. I'd forgotten what a good friend you are.
John: You should let me stop by from time to time to remind you.
Barbara: I'd like that.
John: Listen to me. We both know what it is to lose something very precious. We share that experience together. Don't forget that.
Barbara: No living in the past, John. Remember?
John: You're right. You're right. You're right. Touché. Touché. I have to remember to take my own advice. You tell Parker I'll call him in the morning. He owes me money. Have a good night.
Barbara: I will. Thanks to you.
[Door closes] I will.
Simon: Okay, I can see you're very psyched about this video. But are you sure that Dahlia can deliver on everything that she promises?
Katie: Well, are you sure she can't?
Simon: Okay. Pop quiz, Katie. Have you ever worked in a gym?
Simon: Do you have your own syndicated television show?
Katie: Not yet.
Simon: Exercise books -- do you have any exercise books that you've written that I don't know about?
Katie: No, but that's a great idea.
Simon: Listen -- what I'm trying to say is that it's very unusual for someone to invest in a complete unknown.
Katie: "Unknown"? Did you know that my "q" rating at Woak was off the charts? I was the smile of Oakdale. And it is not easy smiling when you're reporting the news, let me tell you.
Simon: Okay, so this fan is investing everything she has in you and this project. Is this right?
Katie: Yeah. And we're gonna make gazillions. My concept has never been done before, and it's brilliant. It's like the laws of nature. Women want to see how a guy's working out, and guys want to watch me. You do the math.
Simon: I was never very good at numbers.
Katie: This is the best thing that's ever happened to me --
Katie: Second best thing. And even if this is only sold in the Chicago area, we're gonna make tons of money.
Simon: And what's Dahlia's take?
Katie: It's all in the contract. Here, I'll tell you everything you want to know.
Simon: All right. I bet what is not in here is where she gets her money from and whether she's done this before. I want to know who Dahlia's backers are. Look, Katie, for all we know, she could be a complete nut job. You have to find out what her agenda is -- her whole agenda, not just the part that she wants to share with you.
Molly: I don't think there's enough cherries and ice cream in the whole world to calm me down right now.
Jake: Okay. How about a massage? No. Hot bath? No. A couple rounds of gin rummy?
Molly: Another hug, please?
Jake: I got plenty more where this one came from.
Jake: Oh. I will get rid of whoever that is.
Adam: Hey, Jake. How you doing'? Actually, I need to talk to Molly. It's important.
Molly: It's okay. Jake knows.
Jake: Yeah, we had a long talk. I'd like to hear your side of it, though.
Molly: Honey, it's all right. You can talk. It's all right. Go ahead.
Adam: I saw Molly at the boarding house that night. And Nick was already dead, so she told me to take Abigail home and I did.
Jake: Well, so much for the whole story.
Molly: Jake, I just -- I couldn't tell you about Adam until I talked to him first.
Jake: Hey, all right. Any more surprises?
Molly: I just knew that I had to get Abigail out of there. So Adam showing up was an answer to my prayers.
Adam: See, my parents have been on my back ever since Nick died. And this afternoon, they decided to give me a lie-detector test.
Molly: Oh, Adam.
Adam: See, I -- I tried to beat it. I really did. But then they caught me, so -- I -- I told them that I killed Nick.
Molly: You what?
Adam: And I -- I mean, I couldn't think of anything else to do. I mean, they had already figured that I drove over there. So I told them that when I got there, I found Nick attacking Abigail, so I hit him to make him stop.
Jake: Adam, okay, all right. What'd you say about Molly?
Adam: I said that we never saw each other. I said that I rushed over there and I ran lights and I took shortcuts and I got there right -- way before she did.
Jake: Well, there's no way that confession is gonna hold up at all.
Adam: Well, at least it buys us some time.
Molly: Time for what?
Adam: To get Abigail out of town where she cannot be found by anybody.
Molly: Adam, I appreciate that you want to protect Abigail -- so do we -- but where would she go, honey? The cops will be watching us constantly. If we try to send her money, if we try to check up on her, they would be hot on her trail.
Adam: I can go with her. So that way, you guys will know that she's safe. I'll watch after her.
Jake: All right. Okay, let's exit fantasy land here and start looking at the facts. Fact number one is, Abigail is their prime suspect.
Molly: We don't know that.
Jake: Yes we do, honey, otherwise you guys wouldn't be falling all over each other trying to come up with a confession. Fact number two is, even though what you did is off the charts as far as a friend goes, it's not gonna fix anything. And fact number three -- we got to stop looking at these policemen like they're complete morons. Sooner or later, they're gonna come after Abigail, so I say that we should just tell them the truth now, or at least what you two know.
Molly: But we don't know what really went on there before we got there.
Jake: That's locked away in her subconscious. But the way I see it, that's a good thing. You see, she suffered so much emotional trauma that it's blocked her memory. And that's a good self-defense right there.
Molly: Will that be enough?
Jake: Jack, Margo and Hal are our friends. They don't want to hurt Abigail. But the longer we let this thing go, the worse it gets. I mean, everything we're doing here is just the same as admitting that Abigail's guilty. Now, I'm telling you, I would not let the Oakdale Police or the facts that night get in the way of this. I will get every legal and investigative reporter I can to work 24/7 to make sure that Abigail does not go to jail. Now, I promise you that.
Molly: I hope you're right.
Jake: We got to do this.
Molly: Oh, boy. Okay. All right. We'll go to the Police, but not without Tom.
Jake: Okay. The less Abigail says, the better. What do you think, Adam? You in?
Adam: I guess it could work. I don't know.
Jake: I like that positive attitude. Hey, where's Abigail?
Molly: Oh, Holden called and said that they were at Al's diner.
Jake: I'll go get her.
Adam: No, no. You know what? You guys -- you go talk to Tom and meet us at the Police station. Okay? I'll get her.
Jake: Good idea. You're a good man, Adam Munson.
Jake: Oh, and when you see Abigail, try not to talk to her about anything. We'll do that when we all get together.
Molly: Do you think they're gonna keep Abigail overnight?
Jake: I don't know. I'm crossing my fingers.
Molly: It's so cold and damp in lockup. Abigail's cold all the time, Jake, just like me. I don't want my baby to be cold. Not like that. Not ever like that.
Katie: I just really didn't expect this. Simon, I didn't expect you, of all people, to rain on my parade.
Simon: That's not what I'm doing. I'm not raining on any butt-busting parade here.
Katie: Oh, right, okay. "Did you check her out?" "Did you see how big her checkbook is?" "Did you give her the third degree?"
Simon: Well, if you'd filled me in a little earlier about what you were doing, it's -- look, I'm sorry. Okay. Look, don't worry. I'll check Dahlia out, and I'll let you know if I find anything that alarms me. Okay?
Katie: I can't believe this. You can't handle me bringing home the bacon.
Simon: Not only can I handle it, I can find a half dozen different ways I can cook it. I just want to know if this horse is a pig.
Katie: Dahlia hasn't asked for one red cent.
Simon: That's what bothers me. Look, just don't go signing any more contracts or anything else until I do a little bit of a background check.
Katie: No, no, no, no, no. I am a strong, independent woman, mister. I don't need your male seal of approval.
Simon: Why are you being so stubborn about this? Testardoda?
Katie: Why are you being so suspicious? This is my project,
my idea, my video. Why are you doing this, Simon? Just don't ruin this for me, okay?
Jennifer: Hey, did you guys clean up for dinner?
Will: Yep. I helped Parker.
Jennifer: Good. Could you take this butter over to the table?
Jennifer: Parker, let me see you! Oh, my gosh. You are so big. You look great, though. I missed you guys so much. Here, now you get to blow out the candles, only once we're done with dinner.
Barbara: I think this is the most beautiful sight I've ever seen.
Jennifer: Mom, you look -- you look beautiful.
Barbara: Thank you.
Jennifer: Your welcome. It smells great in here, really. I am starving.
Will: Me, too.
Barbara: Me, too. And your dad and Paul will be here any minute. It won't be very long at all. Now, come here, all of you. Group hug. I have waited for this night for so long. And I want it to be perfect. Like something out of my dreams. And I think it already is.
Hal: Jack? Would you mind?
Jack: No. No, I'll wait out here.
Hal: This is gonna be tough enough as it is.
Jack: We need answers, Hal. Barbara has them. I'm sure of it.
Jennifer: Oh, my goodness.
Barbara: Oh, look who's right on time. Well, I hope you boys are hungry.
Paul: Uh, mom, I --
Barbara: No, no, no, no. Absolutely no shop talk tonight, not about anything except -- except, I do want to tell you, I have come up with the most wonderful concepts. Wonderful. And I'm gonna show them to you after dinner. But I have been slaving all day long, so I don't want this dinner to get cold. So we're all gonna sit down. I took the liberty of pouring some wine. Paul? Hal? Come on, make the toast. Please, do the honors.
Hal: Barbara, we need to talk.
Barbara: Why? Hal, what is it? Paul?
Hal: Jen, would you take the kids upstairs, watch a little TV? We need to talk to your mom.
Jennifer: Daddy, what's wrong?
Barbara: I'd like to hear the answer to that.
Hal: There isn't gonna be any toast tonight, Barbara. We need you to come with us.
Katie: So if you can't accept the choices that I've made, you -- the guy whose middle name is "risk," who laughs in the face of fear, who goes to the ends of the earth to do anything --
Simon: Who adores and loves his wife.
Katie: If you can't take one little, teeny, tiny business risk, then you're not the guy that I thought you were.
Simon: Shut up and kiss me!
Katie: Mm, let's argue some more.
Simon: No more arguing.
Katie: Okay. I know that you're just looking out for me.
Simon: Always and forever.
Katie: So are you gonna support me in this video thing?
Simon: Yes, yes, of course I am. Of course. I just want you to keep those baby blues wide open.
Lucy: I've got more pictures.
Dahlia: Great, let's have a look.
Lucy: Maybe we should do it with Katie. Hello, people. Impressionable minor present.
Katie: Sorry. I guess we just kind of got carried away. Big surprise.
Lucy: I hate to break up the reunion, but I should be getting back. Grandmother will be expecting me.
Dahlia: All right, well, why don't we just continue the auditions tomorrow? It's giving us some, you know, a chance to get some new recruits.
Katie: Great. Well, I will take Lucy back, and I'll meet you at the Lakeview.
Simon: Don't be long.
Katie: I won't. Lucy, let's get going.
Dahlia: Okay, see you tomorrow.
Katie: Oh, you'll close?
Dahlia: Yeah, sure, no problem.
Simon: Katie's very excited about this whole video thing.
Dahlia: She's a natural in front of the camera.
Simon: I'm sure she is. She's very enthusiastic, as well. And I just hope this video delivers. I would hate to see Katie disappointed.
Dahlia: Your wife is a very smart woman, Mr. Frasier. I believe in Katie's talent. Don't you?
Tom: Hon, hi. We got to talk to you now.
Margo: Molly, what are you doing here?
Tom: I just met with Molly and Jake.
Molly: Adam came by to see us. And he's ready to talk about what really happened the night Nick Scudder was killed. Actually, we both are. Margo, it's time that you knew the truth. The real truth.
Holden: Whatever happens next, I want you to know I will be there for you, right by your side. Okay? I love you. And I've never been more proud of you than I am at this moment right now.
Abigail: Oh, I love you. I love you so much. Thank you.
Abigail: Adam, what are you doing here?
Adam: I'm actually here to find you. I was at Molly and Jake's, and they said they want to see you right away.
Holden: Really? Why didn't they call me on my cell phone?
Adam: Oh, I volunteered to come here and get her. Holden, is it okay if I talk to Abigail real quick alone before we go?
Abigail: We're just gonna be a couple minutes.
Holden: Yeah. Okay. I'll be right outside, all right?
Adam: Thank you.
Abigail: Okay, see you. Adam, what's up?
Adam: All right, come on. Let's go. We got to get out of here.
Abigail: Adam! Adam, what's going on?! Wait.
Adam: Abigail, Abigail, my car is parked right down the block. We're gonna sneak out the back door so Holden can't see us. We have to get you as far away from Oakdale as we can.
