Dixie: Someone looks focused.
J.R.: I am. I'm getting my son back.
Bianca: So I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about our living situation. As much as Miranda and Gaby love Wildwind, I just think we've imposed on Caleb too long. I think it's time we get our own place.
Marissa: I was thinking the exact same thing. I can't live in a hotel anymore. It's not fair to A.J., and he really deserves a real home.
Bianca: And so have you started looking?
Marissa: Yeah. I even found the perfect place.
Bianca: Yeah. Same here.
Bianca: It's beautiful.
Marissa: Four bedrooms? That's big.
Bianca: Yeah. Yeah, I was getting to that part. I was just wondering if maybe you and A.J. wanted to move in with us. I know it's totally fast, and you can call me crazy --
Marissa: Bianca, look at my listing.
Bianca: It has four bedrooms, too.
Bianca: So you don't think I'm crazy?
Marissa: No. Ha ha ha! I think we should move in together.
Erica's voice: So now answer my question. Who is it that I loved and lost and you saved? Call it what you will.
Mike: I think we ought to call it chemistry.
David: I'm sorry.
David: Oy. Ah. Good. It's not important. You see that? There really is a God.
Cara: Yeah, I think that God's got bigger things to worry about.
David: Really? Then I guess I'm one lucky S.O.B., huh?
Cara: Not as lucky as you think.
Angie: You're sure this is what you want?
Maya: You don't think I can handle it?
Angie: Having a child is a big responsibility, one you decided you weren't ready for.
Maya: Because I was scared and alone, not because I didn't love her. I made a mistake, Angie, and I can't live without my baby girl.
Angie: Then we're just going to have to find her, aren't we?
Maya: I spent the whole night praying that she would land with a good family, to parents who would love her, protect her. What if I got my wish?
Angie: You'll handle it just right. Thank those people for taking care of your daughter.
Maya: Yeah -- right before I rip her out of their life.
Tad: The baby can't be Maya's. Lucy is yours. She's yours and Angie's.
Jesse: No, she's not.
Tad: Jesse, what are you saying? What the hell is going on?
Marissa: So you're really ready to take this step?
Bianca: Yeah. Yeah. I'm more concerned about you.
Marissa: Why? Because I'm the newbie at all of this?
Bianca: Yeah. Yeah. You laugh, but, yeah, in a way. We can take things slower if you want to.
Marissa: No, I don't. This is what I want. You and me and our kids growing up together. Yeah, that's exactly what I want.
Dixie: So what's the big plan to get A.J. back?
J.R.: Yeah, it's nothing mind-blowing. I'm just reworking my schedule to make sure I can make an AA meeting every day.
J.R.: I -- I miss him so much.
Dixie: Oh, baby. I don't remember very much from when David was holding me, but I do remember missing you just like crazy. But look at us. We're here, together again. So hang onto that, ok? There's hope.
J.R.: I'm trying.
Dixie: Oh. For you. Ha ha!
J.R.: I should get this.
J.R.: J.R. Chandler.
Marissa: We'd have to get rid of the linoleum, obviously.
Bianca: It's a start.
Marissa: Hang on. Hello?
Dixie: Marissa, it's Dixie, J.R.'s mom. I'm really sorry. I hope I'm not overstepping by calling you, but I wanted to talk to you about J.R.
Dixie: I know he's done some ugly things, but I think he's really turned a corner. He's committed to staying sober. He wants to make amends to you and A.J.
Marissa: I'd like to believe that.
Dixie: You can. It would mean so much to him and to me if you could bring A.J. over for a visit. Please? He misses him so much.
Marissa: All right. I will talk to A.J., and if he's ready, we'll stop by.
Dixie: That would be great. Thank you. Bye. Oh. Hi. Um, that was Marissa. She said that she's gonna bring A.J. over for a visit -- if he's feeling up to it. I hope I didn't overstep.
J.R.: Are you kidding? Thank you.
Angie: It won't be easy for whoever has your daughter -- far from it -- but you have rights.
Maya: Maybe I shouldn't do this.
Angie: I know you feel guilty about giving her up.
Maya: I left her in a front seat of a car, ok?
Angie: You left your baby in someone's car?
Maya: No, not any car. A cop car.
Angie: Sweetheart, we have to tell Jesse.
Angie: Jesse can track the car. He is your best shot at finding her.
Maya: Then he'll have to arrest me, and then I'll never be able to get my daughter back.
Angie: Maya, I need you to listen to me. Yes, Jesse is the chief of police, but first and foremost, he is a father. He'll understand. Trust me on this. Trust Jesse.
Tad: You're a hard man to catch up to. Oh, Jesse, come on. This is ridiculous. You and I have known each other our whole lives. You know you can talk to me about anything, right?
Jesse: Oh, my God, this is so much bigger than anybody could possibly imagine, Tad.
Tad: Cool. I can take it. It's not a problem. Just tell me what the hell is going on. What did you mean when you said Lucy isn't yours? What?
Jesse: I -- I did everything I could to cover this up, to make sure nobody got hurt. I -- like an idiot, I thought I actually pulled it off. I thought that we could just go on like nothing had ever happened. Lucy was happy, Angela was happy, and that's all I wanted. I just wanted to make sure Angela was happy.
Tad: What are you covering up?
Jesse: Ahem. Wow. Our baby, Ellie -- she didn't make it.
Tad: What do you mean, she didn't make it? You helped deliver her.
Jesse: She was stillborn, Tad. She came out. She wasn't crying. There was no movement. There was nothing I could do. It was too late. I handed Angela a baby that wasn't hers, and I started praying to God like an idiot that the truth would never come out. She's buried right over there. No headstone, no name -- no nothing. It's like Ellie's some dirty little secret.
Tad: Jesse --
Jesse: I come here every day with flowers -- you know, to talk to her, tell her how much she's missed and loved. Talk to her about this side of life. I mean, I -- ahem -- I promised her that every time Lucy smiled, I would look up and remember her.
Tad: I'm sorry, babe. I'm so --
Jesse: I tried to save her. I really did. I tried to breathe life back into her little body, but it -- she was gone, Tad. She was gone. I, uh -- felt like I just died right there. It hit me like a ton of bricks. And then Angela -- she comes to and she calls out. She needed me. I mean, she gave up her eyesight. She lost her eyesight for this baby. How the hell am I supposed to tell her that she lost the baby, too, after all that? Angela needed her baby, and I gave her one. I let her believe that Lucy was ours.
Tad: How are you still in one piece?
Jesse: It's because the only thing harder than lying to my wife through all of this was the possibility of having to watch her live through that kind of pain. I could not let her hold our baby with no life in her. No, I just -- I had to protect her from that. I had to protect her from that, Tad.
Frankie: Dixie. How are you feeling, besides alive?
Dixie: Ha ha ha! Good. Better. Look at you, Dr. Hubbard.
Frankie: Oh, yeah. I'm a big boy now.
Dixie: You are.
Frankie: So I see here you have an appointment with Dr. Castillo. He didn't come in today, but I'd be glad to check you out, if that's ok?
Dixie: Oh, please. I'd consider myself lucky. So do you know anything about repressed memory?
Frankie: I'm not an expert, but I know enough. Is that what you think is going on with you?
Dixie: Yeah. I barely remember anything from when David was holding me. Something feels wrong, just really off, and I feel like if I could just remember what happened to me, I could stop him from hurting anybody else -- like Cara.
Erica: Oh, sweetheart. Oh, I was just on my way out.
Bianca: This won't take long. I have news, big news. Marissa and I are moving in together.
Erica: You and Marissa? Marissa?
Bianca: Yeah. I wanted to tell you before, but you were all caught up in your own stuff -- and you wanted to see Zach, which I get.
Erica: Want to tell me what, exactly?
Bianca: Marissa and I are in love. We have been for a while.
Erica: Well, that's wonderful, sweetheart. That's wonderful. Why am I only hearing about this now?
Bianca: Like I said, you've been kind of busy.
Erica: I'm never too busy for you. I mean, this is fantastic news. Do I wish it were someone other than Krystal's daughter? Yes, but that's ok. We won't dwell on the negative. We'll just hope that that apple fell far, far away from the trampy tree.
Bianca: Well, I guess I thought you would have more of a problem with David.
Erica: Oh, yeah, David. David and I have our issues, that's for sure, but we can just manage to coexist. Life is too short.
Bianca: Good. Then maybe you and Krystal can coexist, too.
Erica: Not that short.
Bianca: Oh. "Never have I had so much fun writing a book with someone, even if it did get me a slap in the face. All my love, Mike Roy."
Erica: David hinted that he might've saved someone else, someone in addition to Dixie and Zach -- someone that I once loved very much.
Bianca: And you fell for that?
David: Hi. You don't honestly expect me to start working right now, do you?
Cara: You can do whatever you want.
David: If that were true, then we'd both be naked in my bed right now and enjoying Act II.
Cara: Oh, yeah?
Cara: Hmm. I don't want to have sex. Is that clear enough?
David: Is it because you're supposed to be happily married to Tad? What is it?
Cara: Actually, this doesn't have anything to do with Tad or Immigration. I slept with you, and it was just a one-time thing.
David: I must be crazy, but you seemed pretty enthusiastic. So I could've sworn that you enjoyed it.
Cara: I did.
David: But you don't want to go back there again?
Cara: He catches on.
David: Hmm. Ok. Maybe it's because you already got what you wanted.
Cara: I don't follow.
David: Your brother quit the project, right? He joined forces with Lavery, and then miraculously, all of a sudden, you jump on my team -- literally and figuratively.
Cara: Huh. You figured it out. I slept with you to get the goods on Orpheus.
Erica: Yes, of course, this could be another one of David's ploys. But just what if he's holding someone else captive, someone I loved very much, someone who is still alive?
Bianca: Like who?
Erica: With my history, it could be any number of people. It could even be your father.
Bianca: Dad? No.
Erica: No. Travis has been dead a long time, and so that's exactly why I keep coming back to Mike Roy. Mike and I wrote that book together, and we were very deeply in love. And when I heard about his death, I was very surprised by how it actually affected me, and I couldn't imagine a world without him.
Bianca: I don't even remember when he died. You never said anything.
Erica: No. Of course, I didn't say anything. It didn't seem right. Jack was always very jealous of Mike. To say that they were rivals, that is really just not even scratching the surface. What?
Bianca: Mom, you chose Uncle Jack.
Erica: Of course, I chose Uncle Jack because I love Jack, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't be happy to know that Mike is still alive.
Bianca: How does Uncle Jack feel about that -- or does he even know?
Erica: Yes. And I'm sure he'll come around.
Bianca: Mom, after everything you've put Uncle Jack through, everything you've asked of him, you two are finally in a good place again. And you'd risk all of that, what, because of David, the least trustworthy person we know?
Erica: Ok, fine. What would you do?
Bianca: I would ignore him and go on living my blissful life.
Erica: I'm sorry. I just can't do that.
J.R.: Hey. Where's A.J.? Outside?
Marissa: Um, A.J. isn't here. He didn't want to come.
J.R.: Why not?
Marissa: He's just not ready yet. But give it time. He'll get there.
J.R.: Time? So you can keep poisoning him against me?
Marissa: What do you want me to say, J.R.? He's scared. Honestly, I can't blame him.
J.R.: I'm sorry for lashing out like that. I'll go the club, fish off the pier with him. I know how much he loves that.
Marissa: Actually, we probably won't be at the club very much longer. Bianca and I are moving in together.
J.R.: You're serious? I've done everything right. I got sober, I stayed that way. I've waited patiently for you to let me see my son. I thought the least you could do was show me some mutual respect. But instead of keeping it discreet, you are running all over town, rubbing our noses in it!
Marissa: "It"? What is "it"?
J.R.: Do you have any idea what this will do to A.J. -- not having a father in the house, being raised by two lesbians? No. You're not putting our son through that.
Maya: You promise that I can trust Jesse?
Angie: I promise.
Maya: He won't turn me in? Ok.
Angie: Ok. I'll fill him in on everything, and then I'll explain that we need his help. And you see? Lucy thinks it's a good idea, too.
Maya: Come here, baby. Ohh. Here.
Angie: Oh, hi, sweet girl. Hi, my munchkin. Hi, my munchkin.
Maya: Angie, thanks.
Angie: You're welcome. Hey. Hey, pretty girl. If everything works out, you're gonna have a playmate soon. Yes, you are. I love you, love you.
Jesse: I love you, baby.
Tad: The baby you gave Angela -- that was Maya's baby?
Jesse: Yeah. Ahem. We didn't know it at the time. She was left in a car with a note asking that she be placed in a good home.
Tad: And the fact that Maya just ended up working for you -- that was just coincidence?
Jesse: Yeah, right? Go figure. Somebody's got a sick sense of humor, huh? I thought maybe we were ok. Maya loves Lucy. She never seemed to recognize her. She said she didn't want the baby back, no second thoughts. But now -- I can't believe what a fool I've been, man. I can't --
Tad: Jesse, you know what I went through with Kathy. For me to keep something like this from Maya, knowing firsthand what she's going through --
Jesse: I know.
Tad: Let me ask you a question. If Maya had never showed up, if she just vanished, you really think you could've done it -- kept a lie like this from Angela for the rest of her life?
Cara: Yep, you nailed it. I've been playing you all along, reporting back to my brother and Ryan. Do you know what they call me? "Dr. Double Agent Castillo."
David: All right. Then I guess I was wrong.
Cara: Yeah, of course, you were wrong. We were together. It felt good. No conspiracy.
David: Hey, come on. You can't blame me. It's not like we knew each other very well, right?
Cara: Really? You never had a one-night stand?
David: Oh, so that's what this was? It was a one-night stand?
Cara: Look, I needed something in the moment and you gave it to me. I thought I was doing the same for you. I wasn't out to sabotage you. You satisfied?
David: I don't know if I'd use that word exactly, but I'm ok for now.
Cara: Ok. I'll take what I can get.
Dixie: Thank you for the referral.
Frankie: I just hope it works.
Dixie: It has to. I have to remember what David did.
Erica: Dixie? Do you have a moment?
Dixie: Yes. Hi.
Frankie: Just let me know how it goes.
Dixie: I will.
Erica: So is your time with David starting to come back?
Dixie: No. But I'm trying to get to it.
Erica: I know. It's very, very difficult. Look, maybe it would help if we talk.
Erica: David kept you in more than one place, didn't he? Do you remember if there was anybody else there?
Dixie: Yeah, I think so.
Erica: Really? Another patient?
Dixie: Yes. I've been trying to get to it, but I can't see a face.
Erica: Try harder, Dixie, because I need you to remember.
Jesse: I know it's absolutely insane trying to keep something like this from your wife. But I still -- I still can't even wrap my mind around those words.
Tad: Jesse, the last thing I want to do is put pressure on you to tell Angela -- or Maya, for that matter. But -- you should take some time, think this through.
Jesse: Seems like that's all I've been doing lately: Thinking. Thinking about what I've done, thinking about how to make it right.
Tad: I hate the fact I wasn't here for you. And God knows it's after the fact, but I am so sorry for your loss.
Jesse: It's hard to think there's still more to come.
Cara: I wish my brother could see how wrong he is shutting this research down. I'm gonna go to him. I'm gonna try one more time. I'm gonna convince him to change his mind. I can do this.
David: I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed.
Cara: You're just gonna let him tank the project?
David: No. That's not gonna happen, not with Zach and Angie's support.
Cara: Excuse me. It's the hospital. Hello? Yeah, I'll be right in. My brother's not answering any of his pages, and that is not like him.
Dixie: I keep trying to take myself back to that room, I'm trying to see who was lying next to me, but all I see is a hand.
Erica: Did he have a ring on his hand? A really thick silver ring, very masculine?
Dixie: No. The hand belonged to a woman.
Erica: Oh. Are you sure?
Dixie: Yes. Tad and I believe that it was probably Greenlee from when David was trying to take care of her after the accident.
Erica: Oh, Greenlee. Then that doesn't help me at all. Do you remember anything else? Maybe there was another person?
Dixie: Just that hand. There was a bracelet, a bracelet on the hand. It had a letter on it, the letter "B."
Erica: "B"? Then it wasn't Greenlee.
Marissa: Ok, you get up in front of a judge and start spouting off that homophobic B.S. I can't wait to see how that goes for you.
J.R.: Don't think about me, think about A.J. Think about how you're gonna be subjecting him to embarrassment and torture for the rest of his life!
Marissa: The only thing I am subjecting him to is a stable, loving home.
J.R.: With two mommies? It's tough growing up -- without kids making fun of him, calling his mom a lezzie at school. Come on, Marissa. Give A.J. a fighting chance. You say that you love him.
Marissa: I do.
J.R.: Then give him the best gift you possibly can. Let him go.
Marissa: You think abandoning A.J. will be a gift? You're the one he's scared of. If anyone's doing damage, it's you.
J.R.: Oh, trust me, when A.J. realizes the life that you've mapped out for him, he's not gonna be able to run to me fast enough.
Marissa: What the hell happened to you? Say good-bye to any hope of visitation with your son. You are not getting anywhere near him.
J.R.: I'd rethink that if I were you.
David: I suppose you wouldn't be you if you knocked before entering.
Erica: I'm sure that this is a complete waste of time, but I'm gonna ask anyway. I need some more information about this person that I once loved that you claim that you have kept alive.
David: That's some pretty pricy information. And what do I get in return, Erica?
Erica: I heard about the FDA hearing in Washington, D.C. I will testify on your behalf. I'll tell them what an outstanding doctor you are -- in spite of the fact that you've tried on numerous occasions to ruin my life.
Tad: Maya? Thanks for coming. Uh, I thought I should tell you this in person. I'm sorry, but I can't take your case. I hate to disappoint you, but I'm sure in time you'll understand.
Maya: Now works.
Tad: I can't.
Maya: Uh, ok. Thanks for your help, I guess.
Tad: Maya? There's one more thing I just want to say to you. Look, I've been around the block a lot. Ok? I've met a lot of people, more than my fair share, and none of them could ever hold a candle to Angie or Jesse Hubbard. And it's not just what they are as parents or friends, but who they are as human beings. You'll never meet anybody with a bigger heart.
Maya: Why are you telling me this?
Angie: Jesse, is that you?
Jesse: Yeah, yeah. Hey, babe.
Angie: Hi. Maya had to leave early, and Lucy's with Frankie and Randi. Can we sit down?
Jesse: Yeah, sure. Come here.
Angie: I want to talk to you about something, and I really need you to keep an open mind. It's about Maya.
Jesse: Ok. What about her?
Angie: It turns out that she did not give her baby up for adoption. She left her in one of your squad cars -- something that she never would've done if she hadn't felt so alone, so terrified. Maya wants her daughter back, Jesse. She misses her baby so much. I told her that you would help her.
Jesse: Angela --
Angie: Let me finish. I told her that we would do whatever it --
Jesse: Angela, stop it! Stop!
Marissa: What do you have there, some statistics on how gay parents destroy children's lives? Most studies say the exact opposite.
J.R.: Just remember I didn't want this to get ugly, but you forced my hand.
Marissa: What did you do?
J.R.: I think the more relevant question is, what did you do? If you don't let me have my son, the whole world sees this, and they'll think it was you who put it out there.
Marissa: You are a son of a bitch, you know that?
J.R.: So I've been told.
David: I'll tell you what. I have some business to attend to, so why don't you see yourself out? All right?
Erica: "Project Orpheus." "M.R., Spinnacle Street Facility, #25, Los Angeles, California."
Tad: Just promise me you'll remember what I said. Ok?
Maya: Hold on. Ok, so first you tell me you can't help me anymore, and then you randomly go off about Angie and Jesse. Did you find out anything about my baby or not?
Jesse: Baby, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you like that.
Angie: It's ok. Listen, I knew you wouldn't be thrilled to hear the choice that Maya made.
Jesse: Baby, I have something I need to -- tell you. I mean, it's something I should've told you a long time ago.
