Amanda: I'm so ready to get past this and get on with my life.
Jake: Have I told you how incredibly proud I am of you being so brave?
Amanda: I'm not that brave. I mean, I'm so glad I'm ok, but not being able to have any more kids of our own -- it's just -- but you know what? Trevor is amazing, and like you said, we can always adopt. Hey, what's wrong?
Amanda: Oh, I have been so focused on making peace with not having any more children, and I haven't even thought about the fact that you have lost so much because of me.
Angie: You're very quiet. Is something bothering you? Please tell me that Mookie isn't still in town.
Maya: No. No. My friend called. Mookie's in California.
Angie: All the way across country? That's a good thing.
Maya: Yeah. It's just -- now I'm all alone.
Angie: That's not true. You have me and Jesse and Frankie, and your biggest fan -- Lucy. Right? Right, munchkin? Right, munchkin? Huh?
Dixie: Krystal, hi. What's going on? Is everything ok? Is Tad ok?
Krystal: Tad is fine, and you just answered the question that's been needling me ever since you moved in here. You're still in love with him.
Dixie: Why do you ask that?
Krystal: Dixie, look. I'm in on this whole green card marriage to keep Cara safe, and I get it if you're just keeping your distance so as not to tip off Immigration, but --
Dixie: Well, that's just one reason. There's another reason I'm staying away. I'm scared to death.
Cara: Um, I'm not gonna stay here every night just to keep up appearances.
Tad: Ok. I understand. I was just hoping that even one good night's sleep would help you realize that you shouldn't work for a guy like David under any circumstances.
Cara: Actually, I woke up ready to start my day not apologizing for my choices.
Tad: That's not what I meant. Cara, I'm just trying to protect you.
Cara: I'm not your responsibility anymore. Dixie's back. You protect her.
P.A.: Dr. Banks, extension 456. Dr. Banks, extension 456. Dr. Banks, extension 456.
Greenlee: Not easy letting go, hmm?
Griffin: I don't have a choice.
Greenlee: Keep it. Kendall needs you now that she and Zach are behind David.
David: Still talking about me, huh, Greenlee? You just can't seem to get me off your mind.
Zach: I want to get out of here.
Kendall: I know. I know. You will, once Griffin says it's ok.
Zach: Ah. Why do I get the feeling you want me stuck in here, so we can't go ahead with that plan with Hayward?
Kendall: I just want you to focus on getting better.
Zach: I am focused on that. And I'm focused on some bigger things.
Zach: Maybe you should walk away from this marriage while you still can.
Cara: I have to get to work.
Tad: No. Cara, please, look, you are without a doubt one of the strongest women, one of the best women I have ever known, flat-out. But I'm trying to tell you I've known him for a long time, and with a parasite like Hayward, he can sense the smallest bit of vulnerability a mile away.
Cara: I'm a big girl, ok? You don't have to worry about me.
Tad: I do. I can't help it. I have seen the kind of damage he does firsthand.
Cara: You know what? I can't speak for anybody else, but if I do decide to take this job, it's gonna be because of my belief in the project, all right? My ability to contribute. And I don't even know why you're so resistant on this. Look what he's done for you.
Tad: I know. Look, I'm thrilled. I'm grateful Dixie's back. But I'm trying to tell you, David Hayward never does anything without a price.
Cara: You got what you want. I'm going after what I want.
Dixie: When you get a second chance at life, you don't want to make the same mistakes.
Krystal: So being reunited with Tad is your dream come true, but you're keeping your distance, because you don't want to screw up?
Dixie: I just would like to get it right this time. You know, Tad and I have hurt each other a lot in the past.
Krystal: Yeah, but what about Kathy? I mean, don't you want to spend every second of every day with her?
Dixie: I do. Absolutely I do. But I have to take this situation with Cara seriously. Her life is in danger. And J.R. -- he's having a really, really tough time right now. I need to be here for him. So I think it's best for Kathy to be with her sister, with the people that she knows.
Krystal: I think there's just one solution, then. I think you start spending time with both girls starting right now.
Dixie: Hey, you! Hi.
Kathy: Are you coming to the party? Jenny and all my friends are gonna be there.
Dixie: I didn't know there was a party.
Krystal: Consider this your official invite, then.
Krystal: You want to go? Ok, let's go.
Dixie: Aw. Ha ha ha!
Angie: You are a very special young woman. Mookie made you doubt yourself. You need to shake off those doubts and believe in yourself. You know, when we tap into our strength instead of our fear, we can do anything.
Maya: You are so positive. It's amazing.
Angie: Considering that I'm blind?
Maya: I'm sorry. I didn't mean --
Angie: It's all right. There came a point where I had to make a choice. Either this was going to destroy me or it would make me stronger. I chose stronger.
Jake: Is it just this one bag? Is this all you have?
Amanda: Jake, we need to talk about this, and I'm not gonna fall apart. Just tell me how you feel.
Jake: You know, I'm angry and sad, and I'm not -- you know, I know I don't really have the right to feel that way. I don't want to make this about me. Trust me, I don't. But you're asking me. I don't know. I pretty much always pictured a sibling for Trevor. But if we decide we want another kid, and we sign off on that, then I would adopt. I'm good with that.
Amanda: You see? Good things are happening, even if they're hard to tell.
Jake: Well, the only thing that's not good is David walking around these halls acting like the king -- I don't know -- of the castle and expecting people to bow at his feet.
Amanda: Listen to me. You cannot let him bother you, ok? I don't want you fighting another battle with David.
Jake: No, no. I'm not gonna do that. I know where my priorities are. They're at home with my family, and that I promise you.
Greenlee: Go torment someone else.
David: Zach and Kendall are behind me 100%, and yet that's still not good enough for you, is it?
Griffin: There's more to this, David, and we all know it.
David: You are absolutely right -- lots more. Revolutionary medical breakthroughs. And you could have been a part of it, Doctor. You were a part of it, but then you joined up with Ryan, started buying into his asinine theories about my evil plans to take over the world.
Griffin: Yeah. Good luck with that.
David: Why are you so bitter, Castillo? Didn't I warn you that this would cost you Kendall? And I'm sure you're hoping the same doesn't happen with you and Ryan, huh?
Greenlee: Get over yourself, David. Your stupid mind games won't work.
Kendall: Walk away? What the hell are you talking about?
Zach: You're always getting hurt because of me.
Kendall: Oh, Zach. You are alive. We are here together. Everything is fine.
Zach: I brought the casino people in your life. You almost got killed because of Ricky.
Kendall: That was my choice.
Zach: I made you make that choice. I'm asking too much, always. Now the whole thing with David. I'm asking too much.
Kendall: No. I told you, I am with you on the whole thing with David, ok? I'm with you. Right now you really need to rest.
Zach: I want you to have a good life -- no sacrifices, no risk, and no pain.
Kendall: I want a life with you. What are you doing? I mean, are you testing me? Why are you doing this?
Zach: I want you to be safe. And I want you to be happy.
Kendall: You found out about me and Griffin.
Zach: I risked your life. He saved your life.
Kendall: Zach, I am exactly where I want to be. Are you? All this bull about me bailing on our marriage. Is that your way of saying you wish you'd never come back to me?
Tad: Oh, my God. The twins are at it again.
Jake: What is wrong with you?
Tad: Not you. I see they haven't sprung you from this place yet.
Amanda: I'm about to leave.
Jake: No. No. What's up, first of all?
Tad: I'll tell you what. You guys -- can I talk to you later on?
Amanda: No, no, no. You know what? You guys talk.
Jake: Whatever you got to say, it's all right, just say it. It's ok.
Amanda: I know, but you know what? I really want to go see Angie and thank her for everything.
Jake: You sure you're up for that?
Amanda: Yeah, yeah. She's right downstairs from us.
Tad: No, no, no, honey, actually, she's not. She's over at my place. Krystal's, like, throwing a thing for the girls.
Amanda: Oh. All right, well, I'll meet you there?
Jake: All right. Take it easy.
Amanda: Ok. I will.
Tad: Bye, baby.
Jake: So what's up? How you doing?
Tad: How am I doing?
Tad: How am I doing?
Jake: You gonna tell me? Did Cara leave?
Tad: No. She's staying because of Hayward.
Angie: Hi. Mmm. Something smells good.
Krystal: Yeah. Honey, I got a whole spread in there. Come on in. Hey. The girls are out in the back playing with their friends, so I suggest we dig in. What do you say?
Dixie: Anybody for apple pie?
Dixie: Angie. Oh, I am so sorry for everything that's happened to you.
Angie: Oh, sweetheart, you, too.
Dixie: You look so beautiful.
Angie: And so do you, and I don't even need to see you to know that. Oh, Dixie, listen, I'd like you to meet Maya Mercado. She's helping me take care of our daughter Lucy.
Dixie: Hi. Nice to meet you. Look at that little girl. She's so beautiful.
Krystal: That was a smile.
Angie: Watch out because sometimes that smile means action in the diaper.
Dixie: Oh, no.
Zach: You know I wanted to come back to you.
Kendall: Ok, then why are you saying insane things like I might be better off without you?
Zach: Because Castillo had to step in and save you, because of me.
Kendall: Yes, Zach, yes, he did perform the surgery. But when I came to, I was saying your name, loving you.
Zach: I wasn't there.
Kendall: Zach, you were there. You were always there. I felt you, Zach. We were connected.
Zach: You know what I think? I think you need someone stable, someone who keeps you safe, keeps you out of danger, someone who can fix your heart in the back of a broken-down ambulance.
Kendall: Would you shut up, all right? Stop, ok? Please. You've been through hell, all right? You're frustrated and exhausted. I am with you, Zach, always. Always only you. Haven't I proven that to you? My God, what else do I have to do? What do I have to do to convince you?
Greenlee: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt.
Kendall: No, it's ok. It's all right. Actually, we were just setting things straight, right?
Cara: It is your new researcher reporting for duty.
David: That's great. That is the best news I've heard today. I think it's time to celebrate.
Cara: Wow. Um, well, what happened last night, you know -- one-time thing, ok? From now on, strictly professional.
David: All right. Well, then I guess we should get to work. I know. Stay away from your sister. I heard it loud and clear.
Griffin: Actually, I don't think you did, but you're about to.
Cara: Griff, we're working here, ok? Can you please leave?
Griffin: You want to stick it to me for bailing on Orpheus, so you're trying to get my sister to take my place.
David: That's not very complimentary of your sister. She happens to be a terrific doctor.
Griffin: This is about revenge, and you know it.
David: You know something? I am disappointed in you, no question. Squandering a tremendous opportunity as you have. But this isn't about grudges. What matters to me most is the future and success of my project, and I have every confidence that your sister is gonna do an outstanding job.
Griffin: Cara, he's using you to get to me.
Cara: Griff, I can't win with you. You know, if I run off and start over, I'm crazy, and if I stay here and choose to do what I want to do, I'm still crazy.
Griffin: What's crazy is signing on to do anything with David. Listen, I know that you're angry with Tad.
Cara: This doesn't have anything to do with Tad. This is about me, my life, my future.
Griffin: Look, you don't know the whole story. Nobody does. I thought what he was doing was theoretical, but it turns out he's been experimenting on human beings, and he's been manipulating me. He let me fall for Kendall, all the while knowing her husband was still alive.
David: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. I warned you about personal entanglements. It is not my fault that you chose not to listen.
Griffin: He will suck you in, get you to do what he wants, and he will drop you like you never existed, ok? I thought I was doing good, helping people, living my dream, but I wasn't. I was just another sucker David used to do his dirty work.
Cara: I'm sorry, Griff, but I'm not you.
Tad: What is it about Hayward? He never misses a trick. He brings back Dixie with one hand. He takes Cara away with another. Every single woman in my life.
Jake: You know, there was a time I would join you. I'd rip his face off his body. But I can't. That door for me has closed.
Tad: What kind of metaphor is that? What -- we should just throw Cara to the wolves, walk away?
Jake: I get that you're upset. I get that you're worried. I get it, but you want me to be honest with you? Orpheus -- that whole program -- that's hard for a doctor to turn her back on. That's a hell of a gig. That's kind of like asking an astronaut to pass on a trip to Mars, really.
Tad: Cara's not going to Mars. She's going to planet orifice. Only David knows what that is, so it can't be good.
Jake: Bottom line is, I don't blame her. She wants to get away from us.
Tad: I'm speechless. You know, there was a time when I thought you would be right out front. You would be the guy leading the charge --
Jake: Of course.
Tad: From that oily, laconic parasite.
Jake: I got other things. I got to focus on the people who really need me now. You should do the same.
Tad: So in other words --
Jake: You should just let it go. Let it go.
Angie: Dixie, can you believe it? Me a mother again?
Angie: You know, it seems like just yesterday when you were pregnant with J.R.
Dixie: I couldn't have gotten through that without you.
Angie: Giving birth to Lucy was no picnic either. Jesse delivered her.
Dixie: Wow. He must be one proud papa.
Angie: Oh, woman, you have no idea, and I can't wait for the two of you to finally meet, because he has heard so much about you over the years.
Dixie: I can't wait. Hey, let me get some orange juice for everybody, ok? I'll be right back.
Angie: All right.
Amanda: Hey, you got room for one more?
Amanda: Hey, I just came from the hospital. I just got discharged.
Angie: Sweetheart, that is so wonderful. Congratulations.
Amanda: Thank you.
Krystal: Hey, can I get you anything to eat or anything? I'm gonna have some pie.
Amanda: You know, I'm good, thank you.
Amanda: I just wanted to say thank you so much for all your support through all of this. Everyone at PVH has been so great.
Angie: I'm glad I could help, and I will keep right on helping any way that I can. You know that.
Dixie: Oh, my gosh. Look at you. Hey there.
Amanda: Oh, my God. Dixie, oh, my God. Hi.
Dixie: I heard you had a baby and you named it after your dad.
Amanda: Trevor's great.
Amanda: I'm sorry.
Dixie: Oh, no. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so insensitive.
Amanda: No, I'm just a little overwhelmed. I don't know if Tad told you, I just had surgery.
Dixie: Yeah, I heard. I'm so sorry.
Amanda: No, everything went really well, so it looks like we both will have a second chance.
Krystal: Amanda, honey, are you ok?
Amanda: Yeah. I'm lucky to be alive. I don't know. I just feel like this loss.
Krystal: I completely understand, and if there's anything I can do, or --
Angie: Listen, whenever you want to talk, you know that we're here.
Amanda: You guys are so great, but I am fine. You know, we've already been talking about adoption. Jake wants a little boy, so --
Angie: He and Lucy could be best friends.
Dixie: I'm gonna put some coffee on, ok? I'll be right back.
Krystal: Babe wanted another child, too. She had so many dreams. I mean, if there's just a chance --
Angie: A chance for what?
Krystal: David dropped a hint that Babe could still be alive.
Amanda: Are you serious?
Krystal: I know, I know. I shouldn't even let myself go there, but it's kind of hard not to when I'm sitting here having muffins with Dixie.
Amanda: David loves to control people. He may just be messing with you. He let his other daughter believe that he was dead.
Krystal: Well, if David wanted a way to get to me, he certainly could do it this way. When you lose a child, you lose a piece of your heart, and you would do anything to get it back.
Greenlee: I'm sorry I walked in on you guys.
Kendall: No, it's fine. It's fine. We needed a break. Things have been a little intense.
Greenlee: Makes sense.
Kendall: That he pushed me away? No, it doesn't.
Greenlee: Well, I don't think he's pushing you away. He's protecting you.
Kendall: By trying to tell me that I shouldn't be with him?
Greenlee: He just feels awful for everything he's put you through.
Kendall: Yeah, well, I put him through a lot, too, but I thought we got past all of that. I mean, Greenlee, we had been working so hard to trust each other again and find our way back and be on each other's side, and we are. I thought that he got that when I backed him on this whole David thing.
Greenlee: About that, Ryan still --
Kendall: Stop. I know, I know. But Zach is backing David. He believes in his work, and even though I'm not a fan, I'm grateful for what he's done.
Greenlee: So am I, but I also know that he can destroy a marriage.
David: I'm surprised to see Kendall's not here glued to your side.
Zach: She needed a break.
David: I hate to think that I'm the reason for a rift between the two of you.
Zach: No, you're not the problem.
David: Despite what she may say, I can't imagine Kendall is too thrilled with our new alliance.
Zach: She's fine with it.
David: Good. Because of your involvement with Orpheus, it's gonna make a huge difference.
Zach: I just wish it would have made a difference before, with my mom.
David: Believe me, I understand. Losing my father was what spawned the entire project. The people in this town, they don't want to believe that. All they can see is the lust for power.
Zach: It's hard to miss, David.
David: I'll give you that. Guilty as charged. Yes, I do love the power of saving lives, reuniting families, bringing fathers back to their sons.
Zach: That's what you did for me. That's why I will do everything I can to make this go out into the world and get approved.
David: I got to be honest with you. I'm having a hard time understanding why you would do this for me.
Zach: I'm not doing this for you. When my plane fell out of the sky, I knew I was done, was finished, was gonna die. There was nothing I could do about it. No control over it. I never want to feel that way again. I don't want anyone that I care about to ever feel like that again. Orpheus is gonna protect them. And not just them.
David: I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
Zach: When you had me in that room, and I was all drugged up, I heard you talking. I know there are others.
David: What exactly do you think you heard?
Zach: I heard enough to know that Dixie and I aren't the only ones, and now that we're partners --
David: What? You think I should show you all my cards? No. Sorry. That's not how this works.
Zach: David, with your track record, I have no reason to trust you, but for Orpheus, I've made an exception. Why can't you do the same?
David: And in time, you and everyone else will know everything.
Zach: So it is about the power?
David: As I said, I'm very grateful for your support, but you can't buy trust. It needs to be earned.
Zach: I will earn it, whatever it takes.
David: I'm gonna remember you saying that.
Kendall: David is not going to ruin our marriage.
Greenlee: That was not a happy conversation between you and Zach.
Kendall: Well, he wants to start out on the right foot. Our biggest problem, the one thing that's gotten us in trouble every time is not being honest with each other. Greenlee, we don't work without trust. We need trust. I mean, I do something behind his back, he does something behind mine, and then we both can try and justify it, but in the end, it blows up in our faces. So this time we are putting it all on the table from the beginning, which has been a little --
Kendall: Yeah, exactly. But if that's what Zach needs to know that I'm with him, then I'm gonna do that. We could scream and fight and claw at each other's faces and strangle each other, but I think in the long run, we're gonna be a lot stronger.
Greenlee: So this Orpheus partnership -- you're still on board with it? I mean, there's no way to talk you out of it?
Kendall: Greenlee --
Greenlee: I had to give it a shot. I had to give it a shot. Look, I have mixed feelings about David, too, ok? His treatment saved my life, but he could also use it to hurt me.
Kendall: Is David threatening to tell Ryan that Gillian might be alive?
Greenlee: He doesn't have to tell Ryan. He told me. Now he's just sitting back, waiting for it to cause problems.
Kendall: But it won't, because you won't let it.
Kathy: Mommy, I'm thirsty.
Dixie: Oh, well, here we go. For you.
Dixie: You bet.
Amanda: Wow. It's like you two were never separated.
Angie: Yeah. You know, that mother/daughter bond transcends anything -- time, distance.
Krystal: Even death. I still feel Babe with me all the time.
Dixie: I remember I used to lay there and picture her face in my mind -- you know, her eyes and her smile. When I finally saw her for the first time, I just couldn't believe it. There she was, exactly like I pictured her. I am so lucky to have my beautiful little girl back. When I think about how I tried to give her up, and she was there in my arms one minute, and then the next just gone.
Krystal: You know, you were doing what you thought was best for her. I mean, just like me with Marissa. I was young. I was alone with two babies in my belly and not a penny to my name. Even though I know she went to a wonderful family, I will regret giving her up as long as I live.
Griffin: Hey, David's going after Cara now.
Tad: I know. I heard all about the job offer.
Griffin: Yeah, well, she accepted. She's with him right now. She was in his hotel room.
Griffin: Last night. All that time we thought she was supposedly alone, thinking whether she should stay in Pine Valley or not, she was hiding out with David Hayward. Where are you going?
Tad: To get answers.
Amanda: I cannot believe that Cara would want to work for David.
Jake: Well, as a doctor, I understand.
Amanda: But when you think about what he did to us when he thought Trevor was his --
Jake: Yeah, I'd rather not. Am I happy she took the job? Of course, I'm not, but it's her life, and you and Trevor are my life. I'm not gonna let Hayward steal another single minute from us.
Amanda: What we have will last forever.
Jake: Let's go.
Dixie: Will you please tell Jesse I think he has an absolutely wonderful daughter?
Angie: Oh, I will. Thanks, Dixie.
Krystal: I'm gonna go get the girls so they can say good-bye, ok?
Angie: Ok. All right. Maya, I'm sorry. That must have been so hard for you. All of this talk about children and giving them up and getting them back.
Maya: I'm fine.
Angie: You don't sound fine.
Maya: It's just sometimes I can't even sleep at night, thinking about my baby, wondering where she is, if she's happy like Lucy.
Angie: Maya, you know, adoption is a matter of public record. Jesse would be able to actually help --
Maya: Please don't tell Jesse. He already doesn't like me.
Angie: That's not true.
Maya: Please, you can't tell him. He can't know.
Angie: Sweetheart, why not?
Maya: You just can't, ok?
Angie: But Jesse would want to help you.
Maya: No, he wouldn't. He's a cop. If he finds out the truth, I could get arrested.
Angie: Maya, it's not against the law to give up your child.
Maya: I didn't give up my child. I abandoned her.
Zach: We can do that. Yeah. We'll meet over drinks. Sure. David Hayward will be there. Promise. Ok, good.
Kendall: Drinks? Aren't you rushing things just a little bit? Come on.
Kendall: Well --
Griffin: I need to talk to you.
Kendall: I think he needs to rest.
Griffin: No, I think that can wait. David offered my sister a job on Orpheus. You're his partner. I need you to tell him you want her off the project.
Zach: Why would I do that?
Griffin: Because I don't want my sister anywhere near this.
Zach: But David does. That's good enough for me.
P.A.: Paging Dr. White. Dr. White, call your office. Dr. White, call your office. Dr. White, call your office.
David: So what do you think?
Cara: Oh, uh, this is -- it's intense. It's exciting -- not just what you've done so far, but, you know, what you could do in the future.
David: What we could do. Look, why don't we talk about this more over dinner? Just dinner, ok?
Tad: If whatever you think you're doing is about me, then make it about me, not Cara. You don't have to hurt her.
David: Aren't you the one that swore to protect her but then dumped her in no time flat for another woman? So if she's hurting right now, Tad, that's on you, not me.
Maya: I know what you're thinking. What kind of mother abandons her own child?
Angie: Actually I was thinking about my other daughter, Cassandra. I adopted her after she'd been abandoned, and for any parent to have to make that kind of decision -- Maya, I just can't imagine how hard that must have been for you.
Maya: So hard.
Angie: I would like to help you find your baby, if that's what you'd want.
Maya: It is, but not if you have to tell Jesse.
Angie: Jesse would understand.
Maya: Even if he did, ok, he wouldn't want me taking care of Lucy. Please, Angie. Please don't tell him.
Angie: We'll find your daughter together.
[Dixie falls asleep]
David: Don't worry. You're not alone.
Dixie: What did you do to me, David? Why can't I remember?
Tad: Wait up. Look, I know it's no longer my business, ok? But I'm worried, so I'm gonna chase you till I get an answer. Please, please tell me that this thing you've got going with David Hayward, whatever it is, is just professional.
Cara: I can't.
Tad: Why not?
Cara: Because I slept with him.
Greenlee: I should go.
Kendall: Greenlee --
Griffin: You're really gonna do this? You're gonna let David hire Cara? Is that right?
Kendall: Come here.
David: Dr. Castillo is a fine doctor, but he's not to be trusted.
Zach: I thought he was your star pupil.
David: Yes, he was. That was before he took his eyes off the prize, forgot his dedication to science, and fell in love with your wife. That could be a problem. From the looks of it, he's still in love with her.
