Erica: You can drop the act. I know you were behind all this, David.
David: Was I? How clever of me.
Erica: You better be super clever after Ben speaks to the police, or they're gonna put you away for a very long time.
David: I'll tell you what -- why wait for Ben? Go to the police yourself. But if you do that, you'll never know who else I've saved -- and it may just be someone you loved. Someone you loved and lost.
Erica: Someone I loved?
David: That's right, and could see again -- thanks to my genius.
Erica: Oh, you're such a liar. You didn't save anybody else.
David: Are you sure about that?
[Cell phone rings]
David: Excuse me. What? I'll be right there. Think about it.
Erica: Oh, you're not going anywhere. You're not going anywhere until you answer my question. Who did you save?
Kendall: I swear to God, if someone mentions David bringing someone back from the brink of death, I'm going to scream.
[Knock on door]
Kendall: Oh, God, leave me alone. Leave me alone. What?!
Cara: Oh. Sorry.
Kendall: No, no, I'm sorry. What's going on?
Cara: Uh, I have a really strange request. I was wondering if I could stay here for a few nights and --
Kendall: Actually, I --
Cara: You know what? Forget it.
Kendall: No, no! Wait. Please don't -- come in, Cara.
Cara: I appreciate it. Thanks.
Kendall: Yeah. What's -- now, wait a minute. You leaving Tad's house -- that's not gonna look good to the Immigration people.
Cara: Um, well, you know, married people fight, and this could be like a time-out. So --
Kendall: So that's what this is? This is a time-out?
Cara: You know Dixie's alive, right?
Kendall: Yeah. I'm sorry.
Cara: I don't have anyone to blame but myself.
J.R.: Tad, I thought a lot about what you had to say and -- don't. Don't touch me.
Greenlee: You can't die on me, Zach. I need you to wake up. I know somebody's out there! I need help! I need help!
Greenlee: I'm not getting a pulse. He's going to die!
David: Erica, listen to me. A man could die.
Erica: That's no problem for you. You can bring him back to life with your "genius." So now answer my question. Who is it that I loved and lost and you saved?
David: It'll be a moot point if you won't let me out of here.
Erica: You're bluffing.
David: And if I'm not, it's gonna be on your head. Think about it, Erica. I already brought back Maria Grey, Greenlee, Dixie. Do you really want to take that chance?
Erica: I'll find you, and we'll finish this.
David: I'm sure we will.
Jack: Erica, you just missed a prison sentence by about this much. Don't you think you might be pressing your luck a little?
Ryan: Damn it.
Greenlee: Help us! Ok, Zach, I don't know what I'm doing. Ready? Ugh. What do you call a pony with a cold? You remember that one? Come on. Oh, my God. Thank God. Zach? Zach?
Greenlee: Oh, Zach. What -- oh, my God, Ryan. Stay with me.
Ryan: What is going on? Zach?
Greenlee: He's alive.
Maya: Thank you.
Mookie: Thank you -- for finally taking time off for your man.
Maya: I'm sorry. It's just juggling Trevor and Lucy -- I'm not complaining. They are totally adorable, and I definitely need the job.
Mookie: All I know is I miss my girl.
Colby: Hey, guys.
Colby: Hi. Sorry I'm late.
Maya: I thought it would be fun if Colby joined us.
Mookie: We need to catch up on our definition of "fun."
Maya: We've barely talked since I quit the Chandlers, so I thought a day off with my two favorite people. You don't mind, do you?
Mookie: What do you think?
Dixie: J.R --
Tad: J.R., don't talk to your mother like that.
J.R.: My mother? She's not my mother. What'd you do? You get Hayward to whip up another look-alike? Who are you, huh? A long-lost sister? Cousin? Maybe you're not related.
Tad: No, J.R., you don't understand. She's back. It really is your mother.
J.R.: Your next intervention technique happens to be bust.
Dixie: J.R., it's -- it's me.
J.R.: No, my mother's dead! Ok? I saw her die! I was there! The monitors, the alarms, lots of doctors all around -- she was very dead, and you're not her.
Tad: I know you're afraid to believe it's true --
J.R.: I'm not afraid of anything, but I do recognize a scam when I see one.
Tad: It's not a scam!
J.R.: Right. A night in jail didn't scare me enough, so you have to go all out like this? What's next?
Dixie: What do you mean, jail?
J.R.: What, ghost of Christmas past, Christmas future? This ghost here -- I'm done with.
Tad: I wouldn't do that to you.
J.R.: No, wouldn't you? This woman is not my mother.
Mookie: I asked you out on a date. You and me.
Colby: I can leave.
Maya: I don't see what the big deal is here.
Mookie: That's the problem.
Maya: Where are you going?
Mookie: Call me when you got an apology.
Colby: Sorry. I -- I didn't mean to cause you guys any sort of trouble.
Maya: He'll get over it.
Colby: I so don't believe that. Wait a second. Why did you invite me here if you knew he was gonna hate it?
Maya: He didn't hate it.
Colby: He burned rubber out of here.
Maya: Maybe he hated it a little.
Colby: Wait a second. You invited me here, because you didn't want to be alone with Mookie. I mean, he totally thought that it was a date.
Maya: Not the smartest idea?
Maya: I'm sorry I dragged you into this.
Colby: No, I'm cool. It's fine. But if you're not hot to spend time with a guy, why are you dating him?
Maya: So break-off girl thinks that I should break it off with him, too, huh?
J.R.: If you really are my mother and you didn't die, where the hell you been?
Dixie: J.R., I wanted to --
J.R.: It's not like she hadn't played dead and dumped us before. I'm just saying the last time she came back from the dead was when her sister was pretending to be her. I found my mom down at the casino bar sipping on martinis. Yeah. That's how I found out my dear, departed mother was alive and avoiding me.
Dixie: I am so sorry.
J.R.: I'm good. I really am. Maybe we should get together, actually, have some martinis. Because if you are her, then you could explain if you love us so damn much, where the hell you been?!
Dixie: I'm sorry, J.R. I don't remember.
J.R.: Oh, you don't -- perfect answer. Exactly: She doesn't remember. She's a fake.
Tad: She's been through hell.
J.R.: Aw. Haven't we all?
Tad: You're gonna treat her with respect.
Dixie: It's ok. It's all right. He's angry, and he's upset, and he has every right to be.
J.R.: Empathy. Well played.
Dixie: I have missed so much of your life, of your son's life.
J.R.: You have no idea what you've missed.
Dixie: Then tell me.
J.R.: No, I think I'll pass.
Dixie: J.R., I know you've had a difficult time. I can see that.
J.R.: Can you smell it? Yeah, that's my scotch rising up through my pores.
Dixie: You've been in jail, and you're drinking, and I want to know why. I want to know everything. You needed me and I wasn't here for you, and I am so, so sorry for that. But I am here. I am here now. Please, please give me another chance.
Cara: How about to karma kicking me in the ass?
Kendall: Oh -- hmm. Mm-hmm.
Cara: That's good, but it works better with tequila. You should try that sometime.
Kendall: Now, wait a minute. What do you mean, karma? What do you mean, karma?
Cara: Um, just -- I think I did this, you know? I come into town here, and I think that I'm gonna have this true love again with Jake, and he's actually remarried with a child. He's got this whole new life, and it didn't stop me. And what happens? Dixie shows up, and Dixie's actually Tad's true love, and where? She's on our doorstep.
Kendall: I know, but listen. I mean, Jake didn't leave his wife for you.
Cara: I know. And you think that means that Tad's not gonna leave me for Dixie? Well, what Tad and Dixie have is exactly what Jake and Amanda have. They have history. They have years together. They have a child. What do Tad and I have? We have a horror-movie fest. We've got lovely walks in the park. We've got a honeymoon that never happened. So that doesn't scream "eternal love." You know what I'm saying?
Kendall: No, but there are feelings. There's feelings there.
Cara: But that's not gonna match what Tad and Dixie ever had. They have a star. They have a star, all right? They're a legend. They're a legend like you and Zach, actually.
Kendall: Zach's gone. He's gone.
Cara: My brother told me about the Orpheus Project, so I know it's causing some problems with you guys.
Kendall: Not for me.
Cara: But if there is a possibility that Zach's alive --
Kendall: He's not. And, honestly, I really wish that you and Griffin and everybody else would just please stop with the theories and the ideas and all of the craziness, ok? Just let it go.
Cara: Ok. I'm sorry.
Kendall: No, it's -- Zach died. His plane crashed in the ocean, and it took me a very long time to get over that, but I have. I have. I just don't want to listen to these science fiction rumors that could possibly give me hope when there is no hope to have. All right? I'm focusing on the future, and I am looking ahead.
Cara: I respect that. I understand. I do.
Kendall: If that is true, you, my friend, are the only one. Which is why I am packing up the boys, and I am getting out of this crazy town for a while until the whole craziness blows over with this "Dixie back from the dead" miracle.
Cara: Oh, my goodness. Ok. All right. And when you do get back and there isn't anything more to this Orpheus Project, um, I hope you and my brother can work things out.
Kendall: I don't know.
Cara: I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed. Because I want to believe that somebody out there has a chance to put the past behind them and move forward and find true love.
Ryan: Tell me that I'm actually seeing this so that I know --
Greenlee: It's real. It's real. David must've saved him the way he saved me.
Ryan: Take it easy. Hey, welcome back. Welcome back. You just stay right here. We're gonna get you out of here. How did you even find this place?
Greenlee: I had to see David. I had to get the truth out of him. He brought me here.
Ryan: Did he hurt you?
Greenlee: He drugged me, but no.
Ryan: Thank God you're all right. Thank God you're both ok.
Greenlee: How did you even find me?
Ryan: I got my hands on a prescription that Hayward gave to Angie, and I traced it through the company to this place.
Greenlee: Thank God you got here in time. We have to save him, Ryan.
Ryan: We got to get him out of here before we lose him again.
Erica: I was not out of line looking for evidence that David was behind my kidnapping.
Jack: It's not your job to look for evidence, Erica.
Erica: He practically begged me to.
Jack: Really? And how did he do that?
Erica: He left me alone in his office.
Jack: That wasn't by way of an invitation to go through his desk.
Erica: I couldn't just walk away. He practically brayed that he saved someone that I loved.
Jack: Who? He's bluffing.
Erica: That's exactly what I said.
Jack: Look, do us both a favor and just leave Hayward to the police. Would you please just let it go? Please promise me?
Erica: Tell me that you found Ben, and that you found out something that has to do with David being behind my kidnapping?
Jack: I wish I could. I keep trying the number that Jane gave us, but now it's disconnected, and Ben's checked out of the hotel. I've got nothing but dead ends.
Erica: David probably got to him. David told him to hide. We have to find Ben. We need Ben to confess that he was working for David.
Jack: We will.
Erica: How can you be so calm?
Jack: Because I am confident that Hayward is gonna mess up and the police are going to arrest him, and this will all very soon be over.
Erica: Will it? David's gotten away with so many things -- I actually helped him.
Jack: Hey. That's behind us now.
Erica: No, I got him pardoned. What was I thinking? He would be in prison by now.
Jack: Erica, listen to me for a second, please?
Erica: The man belongs behind bars, and this time I'm gonna make sure that he pays -- and pays and pays and pays. What?
Jack: You're amazing.
Erica: I just want justice.
Jack: After all you've been through the past few months -- being kidnapped, being put in Oak Haven -- and yet you're ready to jump right back into the fray if it will stop David Hayward forever.
Erica: I'm not gonna back down.
Jack: No. And well I know that. Which brings me to my earlier request -- that you let the police handle this, at least for now?
Erica: Where's the fun in that?
Jack: Oh, it's fun you're looking for, is it? I think I can help you with that.
J.R.: You want to know what you missed? You want the highlights or the not highlights? Babe died. Uncle Stuart died -- hell, I almost died.
Dixie: God. What happened?
Tad: Yeah, yeah.
J.R.: I was almost there. I got to that tunnel, the light at the end of the tunnel where my mom was, where she grieved me -- that's my real mom, the mom who's dead. She said that I had so much to live for, so I came back. And there's been so much for me to come back to.
Dixie: There is, J.R. There is so much!
J.R.: Marissa and me -- that's Babe's sister -- she helped me through the cancer, but she left me for someone -- a woman. Yeah. Tell me that's a reason to live right there.
Dixie: What about your son?
J.R.: Marissa's trying to keep him from me, slapped me with a restraining order. I can't see him, my own kid.
Dixie: I'm so sorry.
J.R.: But the funny thing is -- really funny to me -- is I would do anything to see him. And my father? He left town. He never looked back. He doesn't even return my phone calls.
Dixie: If I had been here, I would've done something.
J.R.: No, it's all right. Being sober sucked. So I figure it's my time to crawl right back inside that bottle, because you know what? That's me. I know it. It works for me.
Tad: It's not working.
J.R.: You know what's not working -- is this mommy/son reunion you put together! I might be a drunk, but I'm certainly not stupid. You stay out of my life, stop trying to help, because a fake mommy isn't gonna change that.
Dixie: J.R --
Tad: No. Let him go.
Kendall: Ok, can you bring their bags down when they're done, Sandra, please? And, Spike and Ian, we have a plane to catch, so down in 5 minutes, ok? Because Mommy cannot wait to get out of town for a while.
Spike: Mommy, can I take this?
Kendall: Come here. I think this would require its own seat, so I don't know about that. Hey. Do you have a runny nose?
Kendall: No? Your eyes look a little red. I hope you're not coming down with something.
Greenlee: We're gonna get you out of here. He's burning up.
Ryan: Which is why we have to get him to a hospital ASAP.
Greenlee: We can't. The door is bolted shut. We can't go out the way you came in.
Zach: Kendall --
Greenlee: Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Oh, my God, Zach. Zach?
David: Get out of the way! Damn it. He's seizing.
David: You'll be all right. It's gonna be all right. It's gonna be ok. You hear me? It's gonna be ok. His temp is way too high. What the hell did you do to him?
Greenlee: I didn't do anything. He pulled out the I.V. before I could stop him.
David: This wasn't what was supposed to happen.
Greenlee: I'm sorry. I didn't get the memo, since you drugged me.
David: I had no choice.
Ryan: I swear to God you're gonna pay for this, Hayward.
David: Of course, I am! Look, I left you here so that if Zach did wake up, he would see a friendly face, someone he trusted to help ease him off the meds. What happened once he pulled out the I.V.?
Greenlee: He got dizzy. He hallucinated. He thought I was Kendall. He tried to get out the door, and he passed out.
David: You never should've let him get that far!
Ryan: Are you seriously gonna stand there and blame her, you son of a bitch?
David: What are you gonna do? You need me to save your friend, don't you?
Greenlee: Ok, go.
David: He's stable, but just barely.
Ryan: That's got to mess with your God complex, doesn't it, Hayward?
David: Would you get the hell off my back, or get the hell out of here! Get him another blanket. I'm gonna get his I.V. ready.
Greenlee: It's ok. Hang in there. It's ok.
Zach: No more drugs. No.
David: I promise I'll take you off the drugs as soon as it's medically possible. With everything you've been through, I'm not gonna let you die. Do you understand that? So no more fighting me, right?
Greenlee: Listen, we have to call Kendall.
Ryan: I don't think that's a good idea.
Greenlee: You're right. What am I thinking? We have to tell her in person.
Ryan: No, no, no. Not at all.
Greenlee: Yes, we are.
Ryan: Zach is so touch-and-go right now. If we tell Kendall, and he doesn't make it --
Greenlee: Zach's gonna make it. He will make it. David? David? What's happening?
David: There's no pulse. Damn it. Make yourself useful -- get the paddles.
Dixie: So J.R. spent the night in jail?
Tad: He did.
Dixie: You failed to mention that, or that he'd been drinking again.
Tad: I know.
Dixie: I know he's always struggled, but I thought he'd be ok.
Tad: "Ok"? He thought he watched you die.
Dixie: I know.
Tad: Babe passed away not too long after that.
Dixie: What happened?
Tad: Tornado a few years back. A bad one. Babe ended up buried under some debris with A.J. Actually, she sacrificed her life to save his.
Dixie: That's horrible.
Tad: And personally I always thought that had something to do with the cancer.
Tad: Boy, that was a field day. I thought I was gonna lose him. He's had more than his fair share of tragedy, and that's a fact, but to be fair, some of this he's brought on himself. The entire time he was married, he was cheating. With Annie. Not the entire time. Last bit of it, anyway. Now it seems to me he's always spent most of his life getting over one thing or another. God knows I've had my fair share to do with that. I think -- he got tired of dealing with his problems and started running from them. Eventually, he ran into a bottle and then crawled inside. Started feeling sorry for himself.
Dixie: I should've been here.
Tad: If memory serves, he wasn't doing so well when you were here.
Dixie: You know, let's not just sit here. I gotta go and do something. I gotta talk to him. See if there's something I can do to help.
Tad: You can't. You can't. I tried. It doesn't work. Dixie, I am sorry. I know you're in pain. I know you want to help him. But the only person who can help J.R. is J.R. I've tried. I gave him my word I would look after him, and I have done everything I could. I've been there every time he was in trouble to clean up the mess. To catch him when he fell. And when I couldn't, when he hit the ground, I'd pick him up, I'd dust him off. This last time he hit the ground, I let him stay there. Let him spend the night in jail.
Dixie: Why? What, did you want to punish him?
Tad: No. I wanted to make it real. I wanted to give him some time. I wanted to give him a set of bars he could sit behind. I wanted him to think about the fact that he'd wrapped a stolen car around a tree. I wanted him to wake up before it's too late.
Dixie: I hate to say this, but from what I've seen, your strategy isn't working.
J.R.: If only you really were back. But you're not. It's just not possible.
Maya: So how are you? Since you and Asher broke up.
Colby: Well, plenty of mocha swirls and potato chips. I'm working my ass off on my vlog, and up next is just not thinking about Asher and my train wreck of a brother.
Maya: You got this, girl. You are so together.
Maya: You are good at this whole break-up thing.
Colby: Well, I wish I was good at the whole making-it-work thing.
Maya: Who wouldn't?
Colby: You know, since my dad's gone AWOL, my mom's doing whatever she's doing, I don't know, and J.R.'s screwing up everywhere, I realize it's just me, so I need to stop trying to put out everybody's fires and take care of myself, and I have never felt better. Seriously. You should try it. It could totally change your life.
Maya: Mocha swirl?
Colby: Making your life what you want. Making you the priority. You should try it. It could really change your life.
Maya: You mean break up with Mookie. I don't know, it's just --
Colby: Well, listen, I am the break-up expert -- unfortunately. But I would be more than happy to do the honors.
Maya: No. No. Thanks. I'll take care of Mookie.
Kendall: Ok, my love. The good news is you do not have a fever, which means it is those nasty allergies. So I'm gonna get you some more medicine. Actually, I have to get you some more medicine, so tell you what -- why don't you go and help Ian and Sandra pack, and then we are out of here!
Spike: Out of here!
Kendall: Out of here! Exactly! Go get them. Go get them. All right. Ok. Go get them! Ha ha!
David: Got a pulse.
Greenlee: Thank God.
David: Don't thank him yet. It's still weak. We could lose him any minute.
Zach: Take me home. Kendall.
David: Listen to me. I just got your heart started. Why don't you relax before it stops again?
David: I don't think Pine Valley is the best place for you right now.
Zach: I need to see Kendall.
David: What you need to do is to relax, ok? Conserve your energy. Save your strength. You have a long road ahead of you before you make a full recovery. So you need to trust me to know when's the best time for you to go home.
Ryan: If Zach says it's now, I'm with him.
Greenlee: Is there anyone else here?
Ryan: No. I checked the whole place. Couple guards, but I took care of them. Come on. Let's go.
David: Wait a minute! You are not part of this decision-making process.
Greenlee: Ryan and I will take you back to Pine Valley.
David: The hell you will! He's not ready to be moved. You just saw his heart stop.
Ryan: You can come with us. You can stay here. I don't really give a damn. But he's coming with us. Right now.
Tad: I'm sorry. I know. Believe me, I know how badly you want to run after him. Do anything you can to help. Hold him, tell him everything's gonna be all right. But I've been there, and it doesn't work.
Dixie: So what do you want me to do? You want me to sit here while my son is in pain and do nothing?
Tad: Yes. That's exactly what I want you to do. Let it hurt. Because hopefully if it hurts enough, his head will clear, and he'll realize the fact that you're here is a miracle. And that miracle might be enough to give him the strength to put down the bottle, to give him enough hope to turn his life around.
Dixie: You really think that's what we should do?
Tad: I think it's the only thing we can do. What the hell? Let's have a little faith. I gotta believe that you're here, now, like this for a reason. It's a shock. Believe me, I'm sober as a judge. I'm still pinching myself.
Dixie: Would it help if I pinched you? For old times' sake?
Tad: It's a little more of a pinch these days.
Dixie: Ha ha!
Tad: It's more like grab a handful and push.
Dixie: Ha ha ha! Please.
Tad: You know, I hate to give him any credit, because Lord knows he didn't do us a favor -- but I'm so -- blessed -- I'm so happy that you're here.
Dixie: I'm happy, too. I just wish J.R. was happy as well.
Tad: He will be. A little time. A little faith. Listen, I got to check on Cara just for a second. Do you want any more tea?
Dixie: No. Tad; I'll be right back.
Tad: Dixie? Dixie? Dixie? Why would Cara leave her key?
Dixie: Good idea. I could use a drink myself.
Erica: Oh, Jack. You are so full of surprises.
Jack: You like?
Erica: Oh, je l'aime. Et je t'aime.
Jack: Come here, you. I love it when you speak French. Ohh.
Erica: Oh, I just love it when you whisk me away to Paris. Oh, Jack. How do you always know exactly what I need?
Jack: You know, it's that je t'aime thing, because woman, I love you. So much. I'm gonna spend the rest of our lives showing you just how much.
Kendall: Thank you so much for putting a rush on Spike's medication.
Cara: Sure. You're gonna take that trip, right?
Kendall: Yeah. Yeah, once we get the refill, I am out of here.
Cara: Ok. Just don't stay away too long.
Kendall: Thanks again for your help.
Cara: Sure. Have a good time.
David: I need some help here! This man is critical. We could lose him. Dealing with a systemic infection. Someone get a gurney!
