Ryan: Oh. Looks like we can get back to finding Pearson a little quicker than we thought. Hey -- hey, the storm's passed. It's passed. We can get back to the search. You sleep. I'll be back.
Greenlee: Ryan! Don't go.
Amanda: Oh. Hey, that's him right there. That's the guy who saved Opal.
Jake: Oh. All right. Well, let me thank him. I'll just --
Amanda: Oh, come on. You just got off-duty. Let's just go ahead and start our romantic night that you promised me.
Jake: Honey, two minutes.
Jake: What's happening?
Amanda: [Gasps as Jake decks Griffin] Oh, my God!
Tad: Whoa! What is wrong with you?
Amanda: But you said you were going to thank him. Oh.
Tad: Hey, hey, hey, hey -- no, no, no, no. You know him. Stay here. Make sure he doesn't press charges.
Amanda: I need to talk to Jake.
Tad: I'll deal with Jake.
Amanda: Oh -- are you ok?
Griffin: Yeah, I'll live.
Amanda: I -- I am sorry. He normally doesn't go around punching people he doesn't know.
Griffin: Well, that's the thing. He does know me.
Jake: Got to get some ice on this before my hand swells.
Tad: No, before you do anything -- I just -- I just think you should tell me what happened.
Krystal: All right, do you want this in the court records file, or do you want me to start a new folder? Jack?
Krystal: Pile or folder?
Jack: Whatever you think. I just can't stop thinking about Greenlee out there who the hell knows where, trying to find this witness that may or may not pan out. And, oh, my God, the hell we're going to have to pay if she's not sitting in that courtroom when that verdict is read --
Ryan: I thought I would take advantage of the moonlight and get back to the search.
Greenlee: Well, I agree, but you're not going alone.
Ryan: Well, you have to take care of your ankle.
Greenlee: My ankle will be fine. Haven't I proved that enough to you by now?
Ryan: [Chuckles] Yes, you have, many times, but I know the landscape out there, ok? I can cover the second half in no time.
Greenlee: Yeah, yeah, well, I'm not worried about the landscape. I'm worried about getting Pearson to admit that David paid him to set you up for his murder.
Ryan: I will get him to talk.
Greenlee: What if you don't?
Ryan: I will.
Greenlee: We have to have a Plan B, Ryan. We have to face the possibility that we might not ever find Pearson or get him to talk or whatever. I might have to stay away -- without you.
Griffin: I hear women love battle scars. True or false?
Amanda: What kind of history do you have with Jake?
Griffin: "History" is a strong word. We crossed paths a few years back.
Amanda: Here, or when Jake was in Doctors Without Borders?
Griffin: How much has he told you about that time?
Amanda: Almost nothing. Did you guys work together in Africa?
Griffin: I mean, does it really matter? It was a long time ago.
Amanda: Well, tell that to your jaw. Look, did you guys get in a fight in the field or something? Is that why he flipped out the second he saw your face?
Griffin: The truth?
Amanda: That would be nice.
Griffin: I barely knew the guy.
Jake: Oh, God.
Tad: Yeah. Hurts, doesn't it?
Jake: Not as much as it's going to hurt when I take myself off surgical rotation 'cause I smashed my own hand.
Tad: Yeah, there is that. And since you're not normally the kind of doctor who walks around decking surgeons he doesn't know --
Jake: Did somebody say that he's a surgeon?
Tad: Yeah, apparently, a damn good one.
Jake: I don't think he's a doctor. I -- not unless he became a doctor and -- I don't know. Never mind.
Tad: No, no, no, go on, finish. What did you think he was?
Jake: The man who stole my wife.
Liza: File these under "pending," and make sure that these are in the courtroom tomorrow morning. Are we clear?
Damon: Do I look unclear?
Liza: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I just -- oh. I am so tired, my eyes are hurting. You can't be much better, huh?
Damon: I'm fine, but when this is done, can I please get sprung? I do have a life, actually. Or at least I used to.
Liza: What? You and Colby are ok, right? She must be really happy you're working so hard.
Damon: Yeah, I think I need to work a little harder to spend some time with her.
Liza: Oh, you actually want a life? Right. Remind me again what that's like.
Damon: If it makes you feel any better, the word on the street is that you're going to win.
Liza: Well, I'd better. Otherwise, you and I are both out of a job.
Damon: Only the first case as D.A. How can that be?
Liza: Yeah, from day one, the mayor's been threatening to oust me if I don't come through for her pal David. If that jury comes back with a "not guilty" verdict --
Damon: You should go home and get some sleep.
Liza: You know what? I got a lot of work to do here. I really do, but you know what? You go. I'm good. Really, go. Go make my daughter happy.
Damon: Are you sure? We got a lot of pages to go through still.
Jack: I think I'll hear from her soon. Yeah. No, I'm not worried. I feel good about this verdict tomorrow morning. Yeah. I love you, too. Mm-hmm. Bye.
Krystal: Do you really think Erica's going to buy that?
Jack: Buy what?
Krystal: She knows you well enough to know that things aren't that peachy.
Jack: Yeah, I know that. I'm just hoping she's distracted enough with this S.E.C. thing down in Washington that she's not really paying attention. I don't want to get into this with her. I know how she feels about Greenlee.
Krystal: Jackson, I am going to heat this food up, because I just know you've got to be hungry.
Jack: Please, enough with the food. I beg you, no more, please.
Jack: Thanks. Maybe Greenlee should just stay away.
Krystal: You really think she should just keep running?
Jack: I love her. And I have worked so hard to earn her love, but yes. I would give it all away if I knew she was living her life somewhere safe and free.
Krystal: All right, you know what? You have gone way ahead of yourself. I think you're going to see things a lot better once you've gotten some rest.
Jack: Well, you know, I'm just about as good with rest as I am with food these days, ok? I'm sorry. You -- look, you've done enough. You should go, huh?
Krystal: Yeah. Yeah, I do. I need to check on the girls.
Jack: Yeah, your daughters need you and, you know, you've held my hand long enough. Ok, really, that's it. No more holding my hand. You got to go now. I'll be fine.
Krystal: All right.
Krystal: I'll call you, ok?
Greenlee: If the jury comes back with a "guilty" verdict and we haven't found Pearson, I won't have a choice, Ryan. I can't go to prison.
Ryan: We're going to find him.
Greenlee: Yeah, but if we don't, I'll disappear if I have to.
Ryan: Don't even say that.
Greenlee: We both know that if it comes down to me having to run, you couldn't go with me.
Ryan: Look, I don't even know why we're talking about this.
Greenlee: Because I want you to know that if this all ends -- if it all ends tomorrow, I'll have no regrets.
Ryan: Hey -- so what's going on? You're talking like this is already done.
Greenlee: I'm just preparing myself. And as hard as it will be, being with you has given me the strength and the confidence to know I can handle it.
Ryan: If you run, I don't care how far you go, I will never stop fighting to bring you home. Do you understand that?
Tad: Your wife? Your wife is in that room right now trying to convince that guy not to slap you with a lawsuit.
Jake: Wrong wife.
Tad: Cara? What are you talking about? You told me Cara took off with a -- a truck driver.
Jake: No, I told you the last time I saw her, she jumped into a medical supply truck and drove off with some guy. That's the guy from behind the wheel of that truck.
Tad: How can you be so sure?
Jake: Because I don't forget a face, especially not at a moment like that.
Tad: Jake, that moment was years ago. And even if it is him, who cares? You got a life now. You're happy. You're with Amanda.
Griffin: You know, I have often been told that I need a swift kick in the ass, but I don't think I did anything to merit a punch in the face. We were just talking. I swear.
Amanda: Jake --
Jake: Why don't we take a walk?
Griffin: As long as you promise to keep your fists to yourself.
Jake: Well, that's up to you.
Amanda: Ok, you're not going anywhere until you promise me that you're not going to hit him again. But first, you have to tell me what this is all about.
Liza: Well, what are you still doing here?
Damon: My mother always told me it wasn't polite to leave somebody sitting alone.
Liza: Huh. Hilary always was Miss Manners. What about you getting back to your life and Colby?
Damon: Colby and I are fine, ok?
Liza: Ok, I didn't say that you weren't. Why are you still here?
Damon: If I leave now, you might have another one of your fainting spells.
Liza: I do not faint.
Damon: If I hadn't caught you last time, you would have hit the --
Liza: Yeah, so what? Everyone in this entire town would have applauded and then walked over me to get a glass of champagne.
Damon: Come on, not everybody.
Liza: Uh, yeah, Damon. Everyone.
Damon: Do you care?
Liza: Do you know what Ryan said to me? Ryan said, "Even if you win this case, you will lose your soul." Nice, right?
Damon: Whew. Well, just for the record, I don't think that's true.
Jack's voice: I never lied to you.
Greenlee's voice: Well, you sure as hell didn't tell me the truth. I knew something was going on. I told you not to use Ryan to get me acquitted.
Jack's voice: You are on trial for murder -- murder. This is no time to let your judgment be clouded.
Greenlee's voice: Put me on the stand. I got myself into this. It's time I get myself out.
Jack: I should never have let her do that. What the hell were you thinking, Jack? Greenlee? Krystal? I thought you were going home.
Krystal: What are you doing here?
Jack: Just hoping for a little inspiration.
Krystal: Instead, you're second-guessing yourself. Listen to me, Jack. Your daughter is one of the most strong-willed people I know. She practically took on the whole town when she married David. She wouldn't listen to anybody when they told her she was making a mistake. That's why you've got to stop questioning what you've done and what you haven't done, because none of this is your fault.
Jack: Do you know that Greenlee accuses me of choosing Erica over her?
Krystal: Well, that's just crazy.
Jack: I don't know. Maybe not. Maybe that's exactly what I did. Going away for all those months with Erica like that, globetrotting around. You know, maybe Greenlee wouldn't have had to take on the whole town by herself. I would have been there by her side. Maybe she wouldn't have stayed married to David Hayward, huh? Maybe this whole nightmare would never have happened!
Nick: Get off me! Get your hands off me! Who do you think you are, waking me up in the middle of the night, kidnapping me from my campsite?
Greenlee: Sorry about that.
Ryan: Yeah, you believe me, you have not seen kidnapping yet, Nick.
Nick: Look, all I want to do is de-stress from that nightmare in court.
Greenlee: You know what? It was a nightmare. That's why we had to -- that's why we had to find you. I need your help.
Ryan: And you're going to give it to her.
Nick: Oh, yeah? I'm not giving anybody anything.
Ryan: You want to bet? You're staying, Nick!
Greenlee: Hey, Ryan! Ryan -- Ryan, stop it. That's not helping.
Nick: You got that right.
Greenlee: Listen. I know better than anyone how persuasive and manipulative David could be. When he wanted something from someone, he knew how to get it.
Nick: Who said he manipulated me?
Ryan: We know, Nick. We know he paid you to frame me for murder.
Greenlee: Only his plan got screwed up. Ryan's not the one being convicted for murder, I am. And you can change that. You're the only one who can, and I promise you, if you help me, I'll do everything I can to help you, too.
Nick: Look, I just want this whole thing to be over.
Greenlee: Then tell the truth, and it will be.
Ryan: Or you can keep lying and go to prison, or of course, you could end up just floating in the ocean. It's totally your call.
Greenlee: Ryan, Ryan -- he's upset. He loves me.
Nick: He deserves everything he gets.
Greenlee: Do I?
Nick: Look, I don't know you.
Greenlee: You're right. You don't know me. But two years ago, I almost lost my life in a terrible accident. And because of David's bitterness and deception, I could lose it all over again. Please? You're my only hope. If you don't help me --
Nick: Ok, ok. Yeah, it's true.
Nick: Hayward heard me trash you in a bar with somebody.
Ryan: So he approached you?
Nick: I didn't know what it was about. He paid me to put a vial in your coat pocket. I didn't ask questions.
Greenlee: Did David say that he wanted to die?
Nick: Not in so many words, but --
Ryan: What words? What words did he use?
Greenlee: We need to know.
Nick: He said he was losing his wife, and he just lost another daughter and his medical license. His life was over. The only thing left was revenge.
Ryan: That's it.
Nick: That's what?
Ryan: That's it. We got it. We got everything we need to get the charges against Greenlee dropped.
Greenlee: Thank you. Thank you so much.
Jake: So -- what exactly are you doing here?
Griffin: I came here to see my old mentor from med school, Dr. David Hayward.
Jake: Oh, that's perfect.
Griffin: I hear he wasn't the most popular guy in town.
Jake: Did you hear that he's dead?
Tad: Frankie told him.
Jake: I think that anybody that would actually call David Hayward their mentor is probably as twisted as he is.
Griffin: I didn't know him well personally. He was one of my instructors in med school, and the guy was a serious cardiothoracic rock star.
Jake: Well, now he's just a rock, so you probably wasted a trip here.
Griffin: I'm not here just to see Dr. Hayward. I'm here to pitch in on the Miranda Project.
Amanda: Do you know Bianca?
Griffin: The head of the foundation, right? No. Haven't met her yet.
Tad: How did you get involved?
Griffin: A guy by the name Slater recruited me.
Amanda: Zach Slater?
Griffin: Yeah. He wanted to expand, and I've got connections. I didn't think I'd be connecting with a pretty decent left hook, though.
Tad: See, there you go. Complaint.
Griffin: Look, I don't want to cause any trouble, especially for myself.
Jake: Well, then maybe you should just leave.
Griffin: I'm going to go check on Opal. I'm going to see how she's doing.
Jake: You don't need to check on Opal.
Tad: No, no, no --
Jake: No, I will check on Opal.
Tad: No, no, you won't. You'll stay here, ok? I'll keep an eye on him. Do me a favor. Have a conversation with your ball and chain.
Amanda: Why don't we put some new ice on this, and you tell me what's going on?
Liza: It's just funny. I worked so hard to try to get you out of my daughter's life, and now I'm -- I'm ok with you. And my daughter will barely speak to me.
Damon: Look -- if you can end up liking me --
Damon: Anything's possible. She'll come around.
Liza: I underestimated you, Damon. You're not a lightweight.
Jack: So off I go with Erica, halfway around the world. Three months of travel, adventure, romance, fine dining. Huh. We were finally going to be able to be together. After all we've been through, all the ups and downs, the other people, the trust issues, and the competition with Greenlee was all behind us now -- and we'd come through it stronger than ever. Huh.
Krystal: But there's nothing wrong with any of that.
Jack: Except it was all a lie.
Krystal: Why do you say that?
Jack: Because while I was off having this great time, pretending I didn't have a care in the world, this monster was getting closer to my daughter. He was cutting her off from the people who loved her, who really cared about her.
Krystal: If you had even been here, Jackson, there is no reason to believe that you could have broken that hold that he had on Greenlee.
Jack: Yeah, but we'll never know, will we, Krystal? Because I wasn't here. But by God, I should have been.
Krystal: All right, you got to stop that. If you want to blame somebody, blame the monster that Greenlee married. Even from the grave, he's still got this town all tied up in knots. So if you want to be angry at somebody, you be angry at him, because he is the reason for all of this.
Greenlee: I know it wasn't easy, but it means a lot that you finally told us the truth.
Ryan: About damn time.
Greenlee: And when the time comes, if you need a good lawyer, I can talk to my father.
Ryan: Well, hold on. Maybe we should let Jack decide that.
Nick: What makes you think I'm going to need a lawyer?
Greenlee: Well, when you tell the judge what you just told us, you'll be admitting that you perjured yourself a second time.
Nick: What makes you think I'm going to spill anything to any judge?
Greenlee: It's the only way that I'll go free.
Nick: Forget it.
Ryan: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Just wait a minute.
Greenlee: Yeah, but if you don't help us, I'll go to prison.
Nick: You know nothing about me and this is not my problem.
Ryan: Believe me, it's going to be.
Greenlee: Mr. Pearson, please -- ow! Agh --
Ryan: Are you ok?
Greenlee: Yes, I'm fine.
Ryan: Is it your ankle? Here.
Greenlee: I'm fine. Go, go! Go find him.
Jake: Ok, just -- erase that, ok? I promised you a very fun, romantic night, so let's get going.
Amanda: You did, but --
Jake: Yeah, but what? We're cool. It's good. Let's -- what are we waiting for?
Amanda: Uh, you just punched a guy in the face.
Jake: Don't worry about that guy. He's not going to do anything. Trust me when I tell you that, ok?
Amanda: You really hurt yourself.
Jake: I just shouldn't have taken the ice off as soon as I did.
Amanda: You shouldn't have hit him in the first place. Why did you hit him, Jake? According to Griffin, you guys barely knew each other, even if you did work the D.W.B. at the same time.
Jake: Did that guy just say to you that he worked with me? Is that what he said?
Amanda: Is that not true?
Jake: Well, we worked at the same place at the same time.
Amanda: And? What happened?
Jake: Nothing. Look, nothing happened. It really doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.
Amanda: Obviously, it does, or you wouldn't have just busted your hand on his jaw.
Jake: Just a guy that I knew back then, and he got under my skin, and he's not the person you think he is, ok? And that's it.
Amanda: Did you guys have a fight in the field or something?
Jake: It was 100 years ago, Amanda. 100 years ago, ok? And whatever I felt for the guy, it's over with this punch. Cool?
Amanda: You sure about that?
Jake: Yes, I'm sure. I've got too much going on and I'm happ -- look, just -- yes, I'm positive. Please. Do me a favor. Can you just stay here? I got to fill out a stupid report about my hand. Did -- babe, did you say that that guy fixed my car? Yeah? Well, now we have to take the car to the shop, because I don't trust his handiwork.
Liza: I can't believe I actually let you bring me back here.
Damon: Look at you. You're practically falling over from exhaustion again. Just sit down. Don't move. I'm going to find a doctor.
Liza: Yeah, ok.
Liza: Oh. Hey.
Tad: It's kind of late for you to be here, isn't it? Don't you have a murder prosecution to push through tomorrow morning?
Liza: Tad, you -- you can't actually think that I want Greenlee to go to prison.
Tad: No. I don't think you're completely without heart.
Liza: Thanks. Hey, what are you doing here so late?
Tad: Oh, it's Opal. She had sort of a cardiac episode.
Liza: What? When? Wait. Wait, was it after we butted heads at Krystal's? Oh, my God.
Tad: She's ok. It's fine. She'll be all right.
Liza: Yeah, well, I knew she had a heart condition and here I am -- can't help myself -- just pushing back when I get pushed.
Tad: Liza, I may blame you for a lot of things, but I don't blame you for that.
Liza: Well, thanks, but still -- this case is making me really edgy.
Tad: It's ok.
Liza: Would you just tell Opal that I'm really sorry? And if I had thought that -- and I just didn't think. You know?
Tad: I'll tell her.
Damon: Good news. Found you a doctor.
Liza: Yeah, well, I don't need one.
Damon: Oh, here we go again.
Liza: I don't want to be here. I'm not staying.
Damon: You also don't want to pass out in the middle of court tomorrow, so can you please just make sure that you're in top form so that it doesn't happen? Ok?
Liza: Fine, yes. Ok, fine. Fine.
Damon: Thank you.
Krystal: David was the one who put all this in motion. Playing like he was Greenlee's savior.
Jack: Savior? He didn't save her life, he ruined her life! Even dead, he's ruining her life. 'Cause let me tell you, if this jury comes back with a guilty verdict, her future is gone! Done! Don't get me wrong. I think death is too good for David Hayward. But Greenlee didn't kill him, and she shouldn't have to pay the price. Why the hell couldn't you have just left her alone? You miserable son of a bitch! I should have killed you myself!
Krystal: Are you done?
Jack: Yeah, I'm done. Whew. Sorry you had to see that. Oh --
Krystal: I'm not.
Jack: You did that on purpose, didn't you? To set me off.
Krystal: Did I?
[Monitor beeping steadily]
Griffin: You're good as new.
Opal: Oh, it's been a long time since I was new.
Griffin: Oh, well, you could have fooled me.
Opal: [Gasps] Oh, this Dr. Castillo is shameless.
Tad: No kidding.
Opal: But I love it.
Tad: Can I take her home?
Griffin: Well, I'm not officially on staff, so you're going to have to ask somebody else to discharge her. Ask your brother.
Opal: Oh, I'm pretty satisfied with you as my doctor.
Griffin: Well, thank you. That's nice to hear.
Tad: Unfortunately, I think Dr. Costello --
Tad: Whatever -- is out of here.
Opal: Well, you're not staying around?
Griffin: We'll see.
Tad: It's time to let Dr. Dreamboat get back to planet earth.
Opal: Oh. Well, we're done already?
Griffin: I'll come back to check in on you.
Opal: I'll be waiting.
Griffin: Ha ha ha.
Tad: Hey, Doc, can I have a word with you?
Tad: Much as I appreciate what you've done for Opal, I know who you are.
Tad: Carolyn -- Jake's wife?
Griffin: I thought his wife's name's Amanda.
Tad: Don't play dumb.
Griffin: Look, your brother's still pissed. I'm sorry, but that's not really my problem.
Tad: You sure?
Griffin: Yeah. I came here to do a job. And I got your mom's heart back on track. I fixed Jake's car. And by the way, I'm not even going to report to Dr. Hubbard that I was attacked, so let's call it even.
Damon: Oh! Ahem. Good news. Dr. Cole says you're fine.
Liza: I know. I could have told you that.
Damon: Well, just 'cause it wasn't as serious as last time doesn't mean you can stop taking care of yourself.
Liza: That's what Dr. Cole said verbatim.
Damon: Ok, so you heard it from an expert. Does that mean you'll actually do it this time?
Liza: Yes. You've got my word.
Griffin: Look, if you're thinking about taking another shot --
Jake: Is she with you?
Jake: Cara. Are you traveling with her? Did you bring her here?
Griffin: No, I don't know where she is.
Jake: So you guys aren't together?
Griffin: We haven't been together for a long time. Your wife is very beautiful. She's a real sweetheart, too.
Jake: Are you sure you want to start talking to me about my wife?
Griffin: I'm just saying it seems like you two have a good thing going here.
Jake: We have a very good thing going, thank you very much. And I don't need anybody messing it up for me.
Griffin: That's not why I'm here if that's what you're worried about.
Jake: You know what? I got the e-mail from Cara all about Doctors Without Borders and the opening.
Griffin: You sure about that?
Jake: Oh, you didn't know?
Griffin: As I said, I haven't been in touch with Cara for a long time. As it was, we were barely together.
Jake: And she destroyed our marriage because of you.
Griffin: Look, man, if she left you, it wasn't because of me.
Greenlee: Where's Nick?
Ryan: He got away.
Ryan: Yeah. It's ok, though. It's ok.
Greenlee: How can you say that? His testimony was all we had.
Ryan: We still have it.
Greenlee: Not if we don't have him.
Ryan: We do, yes, because of this. Because of this.
Greenlee: A camera?
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah. Zach gave it to me before he dropped us off. I set it up beforehand, just in case. Come on, let's see what we got. Let's see what we got. Please, please, please.
Nick's voice: He paid me to put a vial in your coat pocket. I didn't ask questions.
Greenlee's voice: Did David say that he wanted to die?
Nick's voice: Not in so many words.
Ryan's voice: What words? What words did he use?
Greenlee's voice: We need to know.
Ryan: We got it.
Greenlee: You're amazing.
Ryan: We got it.
Greenlee: You're amazing.
Ryan: We got it.
Greenlee: You're amazing.
Ryan: Look what else I got. I got this from Pearson without him noticing before. I got his cell phone, so go ahead. Call your dad and tell him what our plan is. Whew.
Jack: Honey, where are you? I've been so worried about you.
Greenlee: I know. I'm sorry.
Jack: Did you find Pearson?
Greenlee: Yes, we did.
Greenlee: On an island off the coast of California. He admitted to everything.
Jack: Oh, that's great. Honey, that is such great news. And he -- he will tell this to the judge, right?
Greenlee: He actually refused to do that, but Ryan got it all on video.
Jack: Smart guy.
Greenlee: Yes. He's a very, very smart guy.
Jack: So I take it that you're on your way home now, right?
Greenlee: We'll be home as soon as we can.
Jack: Greenlee, the jury is back. We'll have a verdict tomorrow.
Jack: Yeah, tomorrow, so get here with that evidence, please.
Greenlee: We'll be back as soon as Zach gets here with his plane. We'll be back in Pine Valley tomorrow afternoon.
Jack: All right, I can -- I can stall the hearing until then.
Greenlee: Dad, I'm sorry for everything.
Jack: You're worth it.
Greenlee: I love you.
Jack: I love you, too, sweetheart. Be safe, all right? See you tomorrow.
Greenlee: We did it. We got what we came for.
Ryan: Yes, we sure did.
Greenlee: You said together we could make this happen. You were right.
Ryan: We're going to go home -- finally go home, clear your name, and then --
Greenlee: And then?
Griffin: They said you needed to tell me something.
Opal: Well, yes. I wanted to say thank you, and say that I don't usually cotton to doctors.
Griffin: Yeah, your son clued me in on that.
Opal: Yeah, but you are so different. I mean, you're not pompous and know it all, like your friend Dr. Hayward was. Oh, no, you are gorgeous -- well -- and, I mean, your bedside manner -- well, I hardly even know I'm in a hospital.
Griffin: Well, thank you. I'll take that as a compliment.
Opal: Yeah. I mean, what you do, as a heart surgeon, must be so fascinating.
Griffin: It's just a job.
Opal: Oh, now, don't you get all humble on me. You are a top rated surgeon. You know, you got to own that.
Griffin: You should get some rest.
Opal: Well, I mean, do you like -- cutting people open and holding their hearts in your hand?
Griffin: I guess I do. Every time, it's something. And every time, it feels like the first time. But that's nothing like making one beat again after it stopped. Making it pump again, coming back to life. That's -- that's a miracle. And people won't tell you that even though we all have the same mechanics, each one is different. A man's heart is like a piece of plumbing. The arteries are thick and big. When a guy's ticker's is in trouble, he knows it. The symptoms are obvious.
Jake: I'm starving.
Amanda: Look, I know something went down between you and that doctor. And whatever it is, it wasn't good.
Jake: It's over.
Amanda: Well, I'm not sure it is. Jake, I am your wife, and I love you, and I need you to be able to tell me these things.
Jake: You know what I need? I need us to be here right now in the moment, together, ok? Amanda, you're the love of my life.
Griffin's voice: A woman's heart is warm, delicate. It's complex. And as much as we know about the heart, we still don't know why it hurts when it's sad or why it wants what it wants.
Tad: I got to hand it to you. I don't know if I'd be nice enough to take Liza to the hospital if she treated me the way she's been treating you.
Damon: Actually, she's not really as bad as she wants people to think she is.
Liza: New evidence or not, the jury's already reached its verdict, Jack.
Jack: Liza, this evidence will exonerate Greenlee.
Liza: Well, I don't even think it's admissible at this point.
Jack: Well, I guess we'll have to find out tomorrow morning, huh?
Liza: Yeah, I guess we will. I'll see you in chambers.
Tad: I heard something about new evidence?
Liza: Well, yeah. Apparently, Jack thinks that it will clear Greenlee of all the charges. Which is apparently making you very happy. You see? I knew you wanted me to lose.
Tad: No, listen, the only thing I'm happy about is somebody who's innocent doesn't get wrongly convicted. I'm sorry. It's a tough call. I'm sure whatever happens, you're going to be fine.
Liza: You really believe that?
Tad: Absolutely. Remember, I've known you for a long time. Believe it or not, I'm always going to care about you. I want you to be happy.
Damon: Well, before you get too happy, I think you should go home and go to sleep.
Tad: Yeah. It does sound like a good idea.
Jack: I'm hoping that when Liza sees this evidence, she'll have the charges against Greenlee dropped immediately.
Krystal: Well, that's assuming that Liza has an ounce of decency in her.
Jack: She does. Maybe we haven't seen it for a while, but it's still there. And then what we've been hoping for, praying for, waiting for is going to come true. Greenlee will be free.
Griffin's voice: It's a mystery. A contradiction, from which without, we can neither think or speak or love or live. This organ -- this life force is at the center of every single thing we do. It's what drives us to want more, be more, and live every moment to the fullest. Because we never know what tomorrow will bring.
