[Doorbell rings]

Zach: Hey, let it go.

Kendall: No, Zach. What if it's Jesse? Or what if it's the babysitter? Or it could be Ryan.

Zach: One more kiss, then back to reality. Ha ha ha!

Erica: Oh. Sorry. I --

Kendall: Mom. Mom?

Erica: That's what you get for giving me my own key.

Asher's voice: When is a good time, then? When is the perfect time to admit that you're a killer?

Caleb: You should still be in the hospital.

Asher: You and my mom were in the mine together. Only one of you came out. You dumped me off and went into hiding. Is that what an innocent man would do?

Colby: Hi. I didn't expect to see you here.

Asher: Sorry.

Colby: So how's your knee?

Asher: It's pretty good. I'm thinking about signing up for a marathon.

Colby: Oh. There it is. I'm going to the office.

Asher: Oh. Same here. Maybe we can ride together.

Colby: No.

Asher: Whoa. What's your deal?

Colby: Asher, don't do this. Ok?

Asher: Do what?

Colby: Act like nothing happened. You're acting like you didn't kiss me.

Asher: I was just trying to help you out with your coat.

Colby: Look, I am with Damon, and I love Damon.

Asher: I believed you the first time, Colby. Why do you keep telling me?

Greenlee: I feel like I'm gonna wake up and this whole day will have vanished. You'll be gone. We won't have said what we said.

Ryan: And what was that again?

Greenlee: "I love you."

Ryan: That's right. I knew it was something kind of big.

Greenlee: Kind of.

Ryan: Hey. Nothing can take us away from this. Nothing.

Greenlee: Ooh.

Ryan: What is it? Your ankle?

Greenlee: Hmm. They could make designer shoes that are fashionable and also work for hopping over railings.

Ryan: I should never let you out of my sight.

Greenlee: Admit it, Lavery. You can't live without me.

Ryan: I can't live without you. As much as I'd love to do this all day, we got to plan our next move here.

Greenlee: Yeah. We can get back to doing that all day once we find this guy and get him to come clean.

Ryan: Yes. Of course, we have to do that before the cops see us, and we got to make it back home before the verdict comes in.

Greenlee: Piece of cake. My ankle's gonna be a problem, isn't it?

Ryan: We'll just wrap it up, and you can just lean on me.

Greenlee: Let's both face reality here. You have to leave me behind.

Asher: If you want me to say sorry again for kissing you, then --

Colby: No, Asher, I don't need you to say anything.

Asher: I really wasn't trying to be shady. Ok? All this stuff just went down with Caleb, and my head was just -- I don't even know. And then there you were, being all nice.

Colby: Asher, I was listening to you as a friend, nothing more.

Asher: I know. I'm not trying to say that you brought this on or anything. I just -- it happened.

Colby: So you think that I'm making a huge deal out of nothing?

Asher: I think move on.

Damon: Hey, man.

Asher: She's in there.

Damon: He seemed a little edgy.

Colby: Who?

Damon: "Who"? Asher, the guy who was just here?

Colby: I guess -- it's not like I notice anything about the guy.

Damon: He's messed up about his dad, right? Who wouldn't be? Maybe we should take his mind off of it, like go to a concert or something. Or we could go up to New York maybe and invite one of your friends, introduce.

Colby: No. No.

Damon: Why not? I thought you wanted to help him out.

Colby: Yeah.

Damon: But what? I don't get this. One minute you won't leave his room at the hospital, and now you don't seem to care. I thought he was your new friend.

Colby: Yeah, he is. Um, Damon, Asher and I weren't talking about his father.

Damon: What are you talking about? What's going on?

Colby: Um, Asher kissed me.

Erica: Asher, your mother's death was an accident.

Asher: Is that what he told you? He got rid of her, which is how he got rid of me. Ignored me since the day I was born because I reminded him of what he'd done.

Erica: We had a deal. That footage was supposed to be destroyed!

Kendall: In exchange for an all-access pass to your life.

[Phone rings]

Kendall: Now I understand.

Zach: Somebody got taken.

Erica: Caleb? Are you all right?

Caleb: We need to talk.

Damon: You and Asher? When?

Colby: Yesterday.

Damon: That's what I walked in on. That's why you guys were being so weird! I'm such an idiot!

Colby: Damon, don't. Seriously, don't.

Damon: I apologized to him. "Sorry, man. Want to hang out afterwards?" And the whole time he's macking on my girlfriend!

Colby: No, it wasn't like that!

Damon: Then what was it like?

Colby: It was random. We were -- he started talking about his father and everything that he's dealing with, and then --

Damon: And then his tongue was down your throat?

Colby: No. It wasn't like that.

Damon: We hung out afterward.

Colby: I know.

Damon: I asked you what was up. You didn't say anything.

Colby: Because I knew that you would react like this. Look, the kiss -- it was -- it was a mistake.

Damon: No. No. Guys do not kiss girls by mistake. I'm sorry.

Colby: He was caught up in the moment.

Damon: Oh. So you had a moment?

Colby: No! No! Damon, I love you, and I know that I should've told you sooner, but I am telling you now.

Damon: You know what? I have been nothing but nice to that guy since he just appeared here. So I don't care what he's going through or what kind of crappy day he had.

Colby: Damon, please don't!

Damon: What?

Colby: Please?

Damon: "Please" what?

Colby: Don't make me regret telling you.

Asher: Ooh. Sorry.

Opal: Well, I'm not. Would you believe that I have been looking for you?

Asher: Me? Why?

Opal: To invite you, to welcome you into the family. Oh, I know. You are wondering, "What is that pal Damon of mine -- this chic, fashionable, far too young to be a grandmother -- what could she possibly be talking about?" Mr. Asher Pike, your great-uncle palmer was my husband for most of your life. And so in my book, that makes us family.

Asher: Thanks, but --

Opal: But "no, thanks"? Right? That's what you were about to say, weren't you? See, I hear things. I sense things. I can see into the future, and I'm getting a mighty strong vibe that you want no part of this henhouse.

Asher: I'm actually in kind of a hurry, so --

Opal: Caleb? He is a tough old turkey, isn't he? Yes, I know that you have already had a little taste of the Caleb Cortlandt charm, or lack thereof, and you are probably wishing that you had been born into another brood where things are simpler or kinder. Let me tell you, the grass is never greener, no matter how much fertilizer you dump on it.

Asher: I'm pretty sure a lot of other people had it way better off than me.

Opal: And a lot of people had it a whole lot worse. The point is while we're on this earth, our job is to deal with the plot we've been given. And whether you know it or not, you've been blessed with a fine one.

Caleb: I want a name. The kid should not have his private life splashed all over the news.

Erica: No. Neither should you. And that's exactly what I told the reporter on the way over here, in addition to some more colorful remarks about where his career is going to be in the future. However, the fact is that your run-in with Asher -- that is splashed all over the news right now for all the world to see.

Caleb: I don't give a damn what people think about me.

Erica: That's ok if you were living alone on a mountain, but right now you and I have a company to reclaim.

Caleb: So now my problems become yours?

Erica: I have plenty of my own, believe me, and I can deal. But I don't have a son who called me a murderer on TV.

Caleb: He knew exactly what he was doing. He wanted to hurt me, so he did it publicly.

Erica: Ok, listen to me. I've been involved in a few scandals over the course of time, and my experience has been that they die down very quickly. So you deal with your son, and I will deal with whatever I have to deal with.

[Phone rings]

Erica: Excuse me. Yes? Erica Kane. One moment, please. It's the S.E.C. They're looking for you.

Zach: So how'd you get this piece off of here anyway?

Spike: I don't know.

Zach: "I don't know." I get a lot of that from you -- "I don't know." Little monkey. I just need one more piece, then we're in good shape.

[Kendall squeals]

Zach: Here. It's fixed.

Kendall: See that? Daddy Zach -- he just fixes everything, doesn't he?

Zach: Ta-da! Why don't you bring it to your brother, show him how good I am at fixing stuff.

Kendall: Yeah, he'll like that. Go get him. All right. Yeah. Come on. I know you want to play with us. I'm gonna get you. Go! Go! Go! Run! Run! Run! Run! Ohh. Ok. Um, how did you know that I was behind you?

Zach: You're really pretty -- and not stealth at all.

Kendall: Excuse me, I am extremely stealth.

Zach: Ok. You're stealth, or maybe I just know you too well.

Kendall: You don't know me that well.

Zach: I got something for you.

Kendall: Oh, yeah? Ahem. Hmm. What's this? My sand dollar! Where did you find this? I searched the entire yacht for this.

Zach: Not the entire yacht, obviously.

Kendall: Oh, my gosh, I remember the day you gave this to me.

Zach: It's a tough day to forget on the secluded beach.

Kendall: Yeah, in the Bahamas, no less. It was our first time away from this town alone. I was so nervous.

Zach: You never told me that.

Kendall: I was afraid that without all the noise and confusion, we wouldn't have anything to talk about. But we did. We had lots. And we walked and talked.

Zach: We walked and talked, and those sunsets were incredible.

Kendall: The sunsets were amazing. It was like the whole sky was on fire. I remember looking at you and thinking, "This is it. This is all we needed. Just the two of us alone for one day, and we were right back to where we needed to be." And then you gave me this. Not a scratch on it. It was perfect, just like that island, just like us. I never wanted to leave.

Zach: We'll go back there someday.

Kendall: There's no need to. I've got my paradise right here. Right here.

Zach: We got a message.

Greenlee: Go. Talk to the security guard and get a bead on Pearson. I'll be fine. You don't worry about getting caught ever.

Ryan: I worry about you.

Greenlee: What? I'll be fine.

Ryan: I'm not talking about your ankle here. I'm talking about you. I don't want to leave you.

Greenlee: I don't want you to leave. We just got here. I don't mean "here" here. You know what I mean.

Ryan: I think you mean --

Greenlee: Exactly.

Ryan: Ok. I'll be right back. Ok? And you know what? In case I forget to tell you --

Greenlee: I love you, too.

Erica: Well? What did they say?

Caleb: They're not gonna turn the company over to an alleged murderer.

Erica: They did not call you a murderer.

Caleb: They might as well have. That's it. You're off the hook.

Erica: What is that supposed to mean?

Caleb: You're no longer obligated to help me get Cortlandt back.

Erica: You think this scandal is scaring me off?

Caleb: You got plenty of other things to do, better things than to defend me.

Erica: Caleb, I got in this for Palmer. And now that I'm in it, I am furious. J.R. has messed with Palmer, he's messed with me, and now he's messing with the people I care about.

Ryan: Hey.

Guard: I talked to you guys at the bureau.

Ryan: Yes. Yeah, they're thrilled to have you on board. So what did you find out?

Guard: This was Pearson's room.

Ryan: "Was"?

Guard: Checked out. Destination unknown. Pretty good FBI speak, huh?

Ryan: Yeah, that's good. So can you get me in there?

Guard: Yeah. But what's the point? I told you he's gone. He took his stuff. Room's empty.

Ryan: You get me in there, I'll tell you where he went.

Ryan's voice: We tracked Pearson to a marina resort in Ventura County. We haven't found him yet, but we will. I got a message from Tad saying that things are getting a little bit more complicated. They tracked our plane here. They're looking for us. Greenlee injured herself.

Greenlee's voice: I'm fine!

Ryan's voice: She twisted her ankle, so we're holed up in this resort for a little while till we figure out our next move.

Kendall: They're in trouble.

Zach: Ryan's got it covered.

Kendall: Zach, Greenlee is hurt. They need our help.

Zach: I think it's an update.

Kendall: Now we'll never know because Ryan got rid of my phone, so we're not gonna be able to reach him. Zach, I'm scared for them.

Zach: No need to be scared.

Kendall: They're our friends. The police are looking for them. Greenlee can't walk. I know the last thing you want is for me to get involved, but --

Zach: We don't know what we're dealing with here.

Kendall: Thanksgiving is right around the corner, ok? It's about family and friends and giving thanks, and what kind of a hypocrite would I be if I'm sitting there eating turkey, knowing that I couldn't help my friends when they needed help?

Zach: But what are they doing out there? They're chasing some guy. We don't know how dangerous he is.

Kendall: So what do we do? We let them fend for themselves?

Zach: We don't even know where they are!

Kendall: They're at a resort on the water in Ventura County.

Zach: So what's your plan? You're gonna jump on an airplane and go there and find them and rescue them and go to the police, find the bad guy? You can handle all that?

Kendall: No. But you can. Greenlee means so much to both of us, ok, and Ryan is Spike's father. And, I mean, I would never ask you to --

Zach: Stop! I'll do it.

Kendall: What? Really? You'll go to California?

Zach: Yeah, for you. For you.

Colby: Just try and understand, ok? Asher is being pulled in a million different directions --

Damon: Oh, my God.

Colby: By J.R., by Caleb. He has no idea what is going on.

Damon: Boohoo. So I'm just supposed to give him a pass?

Colby: It -- yeah -- may -- I don't --

Damon: What happened after?

Colby: What do you mean?

Damon: After? Did he try again? Did he apologize? What did he say? What did you say?

Colby: I told him he shouldn't have kissed me, period, and, um, that I loved you.

Damon: And?

Colby: And, um, he acted like it wasn't that big of a deal -- the kiss, not us.

Damon: Unbelievable.

Colby: Damon, please -- please don't be mad at me.

Damon: If you didn't want me to be mad, you shouldn't have told me.

Colby: What? You wanted me to keep it a secret? Is that what --

Damon: No! No.

Colby: Ok. You know, we've done the whole secret thing, and we almost broke up because of it. But this is different.

Damon: Different from what?

Colby: It's different because ever since Asher's come to town, all he's done is lied, and I can't trust him. But -- but I can trust you. Can we just forget this ever happened? Please? Can you help me forget?

Damon: I can think of something. [Kissing]

Singer: Hide the pain inside but the days are growing closer and you're running out of time

Asher: So what was he like, this Palmer dude?

Opal: First of all, palmer was nobody's "dude."

Asher: Yeah, I kind of got that from the letter.

Opal: Letter? Palmer wrote you a letter? What did it say?

Asher: Not much.

Opal: "Not much" I bet. Palmer was not the kind of guy to reach out and touch somebody just for the fun of it.

Asher: So besides not being a dude, what was he like?

Opal: How much time you got?

Asher: That complicated?

Opal: He was charming. He was sweet when he wanted to be. He was wickedly funny. Sometimes he was just plain wicked. Ooh, he could get my blood boiling, I'm telling you, faster than you could shake a stick.

Asher: Hmm. But you loved him?

Opal: I loved him for everything he was and wasn't. He had no real code of ethics, truth be told. He just called it like he saw it. But good or bad, everything he did -- and I do mean everything -- was out of love for his family.

Asher: Wow. What a concept.

Opal: Now, you and J.R. -- you're teaming up against Caleb, against your own dad? I know I shouldn't be speaking for him, but since he isn't here to cover my mouth, Palmer would've thought that was very wrong.

Erica: The S.E.C. doesn't like what they saw, so we just have to convince them that we are still the good guys. How do you feel about going to Washington to deal with this head-on, Caleb?

Caleb: When do we leave?

Erica: As soon as possible. So they're gonna be coming at you. And if we want them to vote in our favor, then we are just gonna have to convince them that you are an honest man who was simply blindsided by J.R.

Caleb: And that I'm not a murderer.

Erica: "Mr. Cortlandt, it has come to our attention recently that there are certain questions about your personal life. Do you care to comment?"

Caleb: Come on. Are we really gonna do this? Ok. "This is not about my personal life. This is about getting my business back. It's about restoring a business that was stolen from me. I have my flaws, but I am not a thief. I am citing one specific incident."

Erica: "So is your son."

Caleb: "Look, what happened between my son and me is private. Does anybody understand the meaning of privacy? It's between him and me."

Erica: "So you admit that something did happen?"

Caleb: "I -- yes. I wanted to -- I wanted to give the boy a good life, and then -- "

Erica: An accident?

Caleb: Why are we doing this?

Erica: I think you know.

Ryan: Ok. I get it, Nick. You're the outdoorsy type, huh?

Ryan's voice: A year is a long time and a lot has happened. I get that. There's no doubt. But there is one thing that hasn't changed, and that is my love for you, Greenlee. I love you.

Greenlee: We had something great, something one-of-a-kind. Sometimes that's all you get. Don't get greedy.

Ryan: Don't get greedy? I'm right here. I'm in front of you. You said that you love me, right, so I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. I don't care how long it takes. It could be a week, a month, a year -- it doesn't matter. You and I are meant to be together.

Greenlee: I should've listened to you.

Ryan: You see, I've been telling you that for years.

Spike: Do you have to go?

Zach: I'll be back before you know it. Come here.

Spike: Promise?

Zach: I can't stay away from you guys. Come here, you.

Spike: Will you take pictures?

Zach: It's not that kind of trip. Sometimes people go away because they're needed, because the people that love them are counting on them. So it's one of those trips. But do me a favor. Take care of your brother and your mom, and don't let them boss you around. Ahh.

Kendall: Will you be careful?

Zach: What kind of question is that?

Kendall: You sure about this, about going to rescue them?

Zach: It's what you want. What'd you put in my bag?

Kendall: I guess I'm not so stealth after all.

Zach: Uh-uh.

Kendall: Remember when you asked what I wanted -- our life or the drama that always sucks us in? I have my answer, and now so do you.

Zach: I'm standing right here. You could've told me.

Kendall: What fun is that? Don't you dare. Get him! Get him! Ha ha ha! Don't read it until you get there.

Zach: Why not?

Kendall: Because I said so.

Zach: Oh. Ok. That's good enough for me. I love you.

Kendall: I love you, too. The fact that you are doing this -- I know what this means. I know how much this means. And once Greenlee is home and safe and free, we can finally live our life here together like we're supposed to. I don't know why we're making such a big deal out of this. You're only gonna be gone a couple of days, right?

Zach: See you soon.

Kendall: Soon.

Opal: Palmer put a premium on kin -- his children -- well, his whole family, really. I mean, that was his world.

Asher: Technically, J.R. is my family.

Opal: He's not as close as your daddy.

Asher: A dad is someone who teaches you how to drive stick, you know, throw a football. A dad actually gives a crap about you. Caleb is not my dad.

Opal: You may feel that way now --

Asher: Always.

Opal: But I believe that Palmer wanted to change all that. I think that's why he brought the two of you to Pine Valley. He put Caleb in the will. He wrote you that letter. It's that letter that got you here, right? You must've been looking for something.

Asher: I got a free meal. That's something.

Opal: I have always been a sucker for angry young men.

Asher: Something tells me that you're not a sucker for anything or anybody.

Opal: Oh! You are trying to butter me up now, aren't you? Well, what is it you want?

Asher: How about seconds?

Opal: I think you and me are gonna take a ride first. Come on. Come on in.

Asher: What are we doing here?

Opal: Don't worry. Caleb's car is gone. He isn't home.

Asher: I'm not worried.

Opal: Well, come on. I brought you here because I wanted you to see something.

Asher: What? The picture? I've already seen that.

Opal: Have you taken the time to really look at it? This isn't just any old picture, you know. This is a reminder of who your Great-uncle Palmer was, and maybe of who you could be.

Erica: When you gave Asher away, you were just trying to help him.

Caleb: Yes.

Erica: He won't know that unless you tell him. You told me that Sonia's death was an accident, but now it's time to tell him.

Caleb: He'd never believe me.

Erica: Make him believe you. Make a case. Isn't that what you do for a living?

Caleb: The kid hates me.

Erica: Give him reason not to.

Caleb: Where are you going?

Erica: I'm going to Washington. I'm gonna handle the S.E.C.

Caleb: All by yourself?

Erica: You have other things to do, or not. But regardless, I've got to put out a fire before J.R. stokes it.

Greenlee: Where did you get this stuff, anyway?

Ryan: Here and there.

Greenlee: Spoken like a true con man.

Ryan: So how's that?

Greenlee: It's better. I think I can manage right now.

Ryan: Good, because we got to get going, and we got to move in a way that we don't draw attention to ourselves.

Greenlee: This Pearson guy -- he went to a remote island, right? Not a lot of people there?

Ryan: Yeah, supposedly.

Greenlee: That could work to our advantage. If there's not a lot of people, we won't be drawing attention if there's no one around to give it.

Ryan: That's very true. Now we just got to get there. What? What is it?

Greenlee: Just while you were gone, I had a lot of time to think. Things could be so different right now, Ryan. We could be married, gearing up for the holidays, if I'd just listened to you when I came back. You keep saying how sorry you are, but I'm the one that should be apologizing.

Ryan: Stop, because all that matters is that we're together.

Greenlee: But I could go to prison for the rest of my life if we don't find this witness.

Ryan: We'll get through this, Greenlee. I truly believe that. I need you to believe it, too.

Colby: That was --

Damon: Intense?

Colby: Yeah. Was it a little too intense, do you think?

Damon: I don't think that's possible.

Colby: I wanted to show you how much you mean to me, so you wouldn't doubt anything.

Damon: No doubts here.

Opal: Take a good look at it.

Asher: I am.

Opal: I see a resemblance.

Asher: What?

Opal: It's like he is looking at you, trying to tell you something.

Asher: Yeah, this is getting a little weird -- or weirder.

Opal: I saw that clip on TV, the one of you and Caleb going at it over at Chandlers'?

Asher: What? They showed that?

Opal: Mm-hmm. You're holding on to a lot of anger, aren't you?

Asher: Can you really blame me?

Opal: No. But maybe things aren't as black and white as they seem.

Asher: I'm not sure I really know what that means.

Opal: Think about it. If those things that you told the reporter about Caleb were true, do you think Palmer ever would've pushed the two of you together? Do me a favor. Spend a little time with him. I know he's trying to tell you something, and I think that deep down inside, you want to listen.

Asher: "Dear Asher, your father, Caleb Cooney, is my nephew, which makes me your great-uncle and very old. Way back when, Caleb had to make choices. I didn't agree with most of them, still don't, but it's time you discovered where you come from. One day you'll find yourself reunited with the family you lost. I encourage you to seize this opportunity, embrace it. Our journey on this earth is just a quick snap of the fingers. Don't waste it by clinging to grudges. You've been lost, and so has your father. The time has come to find each other."

[Caleb walks in]

Kendall: Pretty cool, right?

Spike: I miss Daddy Zach.

Kendall: Oh, Spiky, I know. I know you do. I do, too, a lot. I have an idea. Why don't we make him a really cool gift, ok, something to welcome him when he comes home? How about a Thanksgiving banner?

Spike: Yeah!

Kendall: Yeah! Hooray! Ok. I'm gonna get started.

[Phone rings]

Kendall: Maybe that's him right now. Hello? Hello? Anyone there?

[Dial tone]

Kendall: Huh. Weird. Must be a wrong number.

Ryan: All right. It's now or never. Are you ready?

Greenlee: Yeah. Let's do it.

Ryan: Ok.

Greenlee: Oh, my God. Are those for me?

Ryan: I don't know. Tad said the cops were getting close.

Greenlee: What are we gonna do? If we don't leave now -- after everything we've been through, this can't be over.
