[J.R. grunts as he struggles against the handcuffs]

Erica: Asher is Caleb's son?

J.R.: Erica? Erica, you let me out of here or you and Caleb will be sorry!

Erica: I don't know what Caleb's going to be.

J.R.: Erica?

[Door closes]

Caleb: What are you doing here?

Asher: Climbing my way up the corporate ladder. Why are you here?

Caleb: You know why I'm here.

Asher: Job application? I don't really think you're Chandler material.

Caleb: I'm looking for J.R.'s son. Where the hell is he?

[Music plays at Krystal's restaurant]

Jake: To our son Trevor's second Halloween. Maybe next year, he'll know something's actually happening.

Amanda: Cheers.

Jake: Cheers.

Amanda: Oh.

Jake: You know, you look nice with that mustache.

Amanda: Hmm. Well, you look lovely in diamonds.

Jake: You like that?

Amanda: Oh, yeah, I like it. Come here. Wasn't Trevor the cutest little devil, ever?

Jake: Cutest. Cutest. Just like his father. Like father, like son.

Amanda: Well, luckily, he fell asleep like an angel.

Jake: Mm-hmm. I got to say, this is one of my favorite Halloweens, and that's saying a lot considering the whole Martin tradition of their Hallow's Eve parties.

Amanda: Hmm. I remember the parties Tad used to throw.

Jake: You remember? Well, don't give him all the credit, because my father -- did I ever tell you the story? My father used to sit on the porch, right? Like a scarecrow, stiff like this. And when the little buggers would show up, he'd be like, "Ah!" Like, he would scare the bejesus out of them.

Amanda: I bet he scared them to death.

Jake: Oh, it was great, but my mother used to always say, "It doesn't matter. Don't worry about it, because if anybody has a heart attack, he'll take care of it."

Amanda: Ha!

Jake: I guess it's up to me now, so --

Amanda: To cause heart attacks?

Jake: No, just to keep the tradition going for our son.

Amanda: Mmm, I still can't get the hang of Grandma Kate's coffee cake.

Jake: You're not a grandma, so I wouldn't worry about it. You know what? I think our job is just to make sure that Trevor has great memories, great stories, like great Halloween stories, great Thanksgiving stories, great Christmas stories -- things like that so he can look back with laughter, you know, and just remember how much we love him.

Amanda: Hmm. We are so lucky.

Jake: Very lucky.

[Door closes]

Marissa: What's going on? First I get some message that you need supplies at the restaurant. I get there, everything's fully stocked, and you're gone and now A.J.'s not here.

Krystal: I talked to A.J. He's fine. He should be here with Caleb real soon.

Marissa: Well, why isn't he here? Where is he?

Krystal: Well, there is a bit of a story behind that.

Marissa: Ok, just tell me what happened.

Krystal: J.R. took him.

Asher: I don't know what you're talking about. No kids here.

Caleb: Krystal talked to the boy. She talked to A.J., from here.

Asher: Well, maybe he's with his mom. He does have a mom, right? I only ask because not everyone does.

Caleb: One more time, kid. Where's the boy?

Asher: Or what? You yell at me some more? Kill me? Is that how you take care of your business if anyone doesn't do what you want to do? Is that more your style? You just off 'em?

Amanda: You're putting red hots on your burger?

Jake: Well, I don't have any hot sauce, so --

Amanda: You are so weird.

Jake: No, I'm not. No, you know what weird is? My brother puts chocolate bars in his cornflakes. That's weird. This is delicious. What, you want a bite?

Amanda: No, thank you.

Jake: You sure?

[Amanda sighs]

Jake: Ah, you're changing your mind, hmm?

Amanda: No, no, I'm -- I just -- I saw Annie trick-or-treating with Emma.

Jake: Oh, yeah? What did she go as? A witch? No, Medusa. Medusa with all the snakes coming out of your head.

Amanda: Come on, be nice.

Jake: You didn't look her in the eye, did you? 'Cause she'll turn you to stone. You saw what she did to Scott.

Amanda: She's having a tough time.

Jake: Really? Did she bring that on herself, I wonder?

Amanda: You know, it wasn't long ago she was a happy newlywed in love, and then it just all went to hell.

Jake: You know what hell was? Hell was having that newlywed dinner you made us go to. That was hell. Yeah, that was awful.

Amanda: Would you stop? She was nervous. Annie just wanted us to like her.

Jake: Annie has a way of wanting things that she just can't have, and so she blows things up on the way to trying to get there.

Amanda: Well, it doesn't mean people can't change. I did.

Jake: You did. You don't have a mustache anymore.

Amanda: You know, if you hadn't come back from Africa when you did -- if I hadn't fallen madly, deeply in love with you -- before you, I was making all the wrong choices. And you showed me love and hope and a better life than I could have even dreamed of. So if it weren't for you, I'd probably be just as lost as Annie is.

J.R.: [Grunting] Damn it, Cortlandt! I'm going to kill you.

[Door opens]

J.R.: Hello? Hey! I'm in here!

Annie: What happened?

J.R.: Caleb and Krystal showed up. Caleb locked me up so he can look for A.J.

Annie: Why was he looking for A.J.?

J.R.: Just get me out of these.

Annie: What did you do?

Marissa: We have to find A.J. Let's go to the house.

Krystal: I've already been there.

Marissa: He wasn't there?

Krystal: No. He's at the office. Caleb went to retrieve him.

Marissa: Oh, retrieve him? Oh, my God, I knew something like this would happen. I never should have let down my guard. Why didn't you call me?

Krystal: Caleb said that it would be better if we handled it.

Marissa: What? Instead of his mother?

Krystal: Look, I know. I know, but Caleb is your attorney, and he had a point. The best way to handle J.R. is nice and easy. And he's going to be walking in with A.J. any second now.

Marissa: No, no, I'm not waiting for him.

Krystal: No, you have to. You have to relax.

Marissa: My son has been kidnapped!

Krystal: Your son is fine, ok? You can't go out there loaded for bear.

Marissa: J.R. set this up. He got me out of here so he could take A.J.! I am allowed to be angry!

Krystal: Yes, you are allowed to be angry, but you also have to be smart. J.R. has his head in a noose. You can use this in the custody trial. But if you light out after him, and you make it worse, J.R. can get something out of that to use against you.

Marissa: Yeah, like assault, because right now, I think I could.

Krystal: And that's exactly what we don't want. You have to be calm. You have to be rational.

Marissa: What's rational? Doing nothing?

Krystal: Waiting. Caleb has got this under control. Let him handle it.

Caleb: You're way out of your league, boy. I know he's here.

Asher: How many floors to this building? It shouldn't take you long.

Caleb: I'm going to find him. And when I do, and take him home to his mother, I'm going to come back here after you.

Asher: Shaking already.

Caleb: You should. You ever hear of accessory to kidnapping? You should be shaking.

Asher: So you're like this guy that just goes looking for other people's kids? Don't you have your own life?

Caleb: You mean like you? Being a flunky for J.R.?

Asher: You like to scare people, don't you? Just this big tough guy from the mountains.

Caleb: Oh, I'm not going to listen to this.

Asher: Why do you care so much about this kid and his mom?

Caleb: Watch your mouth.

Asher: What the hell do they mean to you? Family is obviously not a big deal, is it? Huh? So what's so different about this that you hardly know? Got a guilty conscience over something?

Caleb: What is your problem with me? What is your problem --

Asher: Leave me the hell alone!

[Asher falls down the stairs]

Erica: Oh, my God. Is he breathing?

Caleb: He's alive.

Erica: Yes, he's breathing. Yes, thank you very much. Ok. She said they're sending an ambulance right over. And she said not to move him. Caleb, what happened? I mean, how did this happen?

Caleb: I thought A.J. was here. I was sure A.J. was here and that he had him.

Erica: A.J.?

Caleb: Yes, yes. So we got into an argument, and he pushed me, and he lost his balance and he -- he -- fell down the stairs.

Erica: Oh, he's going to be ok.

Caleb: We'll see.

Erica: We're going to get him the best possible care.

Amanda: When you first came back to Pine Valley, those eyes and that sexy, scruffy bed head thing you got going on, it was just -- ruff!

Jake: Stop.

Amanda: I really had to -- I really had to milk my neck injury so you'd examine me.

Jake: First of all, I knew you were faking it.

Amanda: You did not.

Jake: I absolutely did. A guy knows these things.

Amanda: Well, then you should know I haven't had to fake anything since.

Jake: Really? Well, I hope not. Let me ask you something. You still got that pirate outfit?

Amanda: Of course.

Jake: Hmm. You still got the parrot?

Amanda: Mm-hmm.

Jake: Hmm. Well, maybe we should go home and play with Polly.

Amanda: You know, I still remember showing up at the hospital with my sore neck, and you were so normal.

Jake: Thank you. It means so much to me. So nice of you.

Amanda: No, come on. I mean -- I mean, here you were, this hot, brave doctor saving lives all over the world, and you just acted like it was no big deal.

Jake: 'Cause that's what Doctors Without Borders is. You just -- you know, you leave your ego at the door.

Amanda: Hot and modest. All the women must have been swooning over you.

Jake: No, no.

Amanda: Oh, come on. At least one. Your ex-wife, Carolyn the doctor. Come on, you never even tell me anything about her.

Jake: It's -- because it was a lifetime ago, you know? It was a different time and --

Jake: Different world. Oh.

Amanda: What, the hospital?

Jake: Yeah. I knew this would happen. They're short-staffed at the E.R., so I'm going to have to --

[Amanda groans]

Jake: But I'll tell you what. I'll see you at home.

Amanda: All right. Well, Polly and I will be waiting.

Jake: Yeah.

[Amanda giggles]

Jake: [Imitating parrot] I'll hurry.

Amanda: Ha ha ha! That's really sexy, babe.

Jake: [Normal voice] I won't do that again.

J.R.: So I'm waiting for a call from the judge from appeals court.

Annie: Ah. Let me guess. This judge is a family friend who plays golf with your father?

J.R.: He understands the situation. He thinks my son belongs with me.

Annie: And how much is he charging for this opinion?

J.R.: He was going to void Marissa's temporary custody order and grant me a new one.

Annie: So why take A.J. ahead of schedule?

J.R.: Because this happens to be our holiday, and I didn't think it was a big deal. After Caleb threw these on me, Erica showed up, the phone rang, and she knows Hale.

Annie: Ah. So you think Erica changed his mind?

J.R.: Well, after what I did? After everything I pulled, I may lose my son permanently. Get these things off me, Annie.

Annie: Ok, speaking from experience -- I know a little bit about snatching your child -- not a good idea.

J.R.: Save me the commentary.

Annie: All right. Let's see what we can do here. Hmm.

J.R.: You really think you're going to get me out of these with those?

Annie: You're forgetting I was once married to a man who made his living as a con. He taught me a few things.

J.R.: Like how to get out of locked handcuffs?

Annie: Uh-huh.

J.R.: Really?

Annie: Well, no. Not handcuffs specifically. Locks in general. Look, I know you love A.J., and you want him home, but take it from me -- you are playing a seriously dangerous game.

J.R.: Yeah, sometimes dangerous is the only option.

Caleb: I mean, what is wrong with this kid? I mean, he kept egging me on, picking a fight. It's like he wanted me to throw him down the stairs.

Erica: Did you?

Caleb: No! It was an accident. But I almost wanted to.

Erica: What's taking the ambulance so long?

Caleb: [Sighs] What are you doing here?

[Sirens approaching]

Erica: Oh. They made it. We'll deal with it.

Annie: Ah, got it.

J.R.: You're a lifesaver.

Annie: Oh, if only it were that easy. Ah.

A.J.: Daddy!

J.R.: [Laughs] Hey, buddy. Oh, come here. Let me look at you. Cool.

A.J.: Scary?

J.R.: Very scary. Did you get a lot of candy?

A.J.: Tons.

J.R.: Yeah? You want to show me your favorite pieces?

Colby: What were you thinking?

J.R.: How did you get A.J. here?

Colby: I stopped by Chandler to pick up some paperwork, and A.J. was there with Asher -- your idea.

J.R.: I wanted to see my son.

Colby: Well, apparently, so did Caleb. But I got A.J. out of there before Caleb even showed up.

J.R.: Thank you for bringing him here.

Colby: This is a mess on so many levels, and I can't even believe you would even involve Asher.

J.R.: He wanted to help.

Colby: He committed a crime for you.

J.R.: Asher's a big boy. He can make his own decisions.

Colby: J.R., he could go to prison, and so could you.

J.R.: Nobody's going to jail. It's going to be all right.

Colby: On what planet?

J.R.: Judge Hale is overturning Marissa's temporary custody order. I'm expecting it any minute.

Colby: But you already took A.J. Isn't that the deal? You get the order and then you get A.J.?

J.R.: I wanted to see my son on part of the holiday. Is that so bad?

Colby: No, of course not.

J.R.: You don't know what it's like -- to be separated from your child, to not be able to talk to them or see them.

Colby: [Sighs] I'm going to go call Asher. And I still hate what you did.

J.R.: I know.

Colby: See you later, werewolf. I don't even want to know.

A.J.: Here, Daddy. Your favorite.

J.R.: [Chuckles] You remembered.

A.J.: There's more.

J.R.: Let me see it. It feels really good to have him back here. I just need to buy more time and to make sure that Marissa doesn't show up before Judge Hale.

Annie: Maybe I can help.

Marissa: What's taking Caleb so long?

Krystal: They'll be here.

Marissa: Oh, my God -- someone needs to buy that man a cell phone. Ok, ok, just tell me again what happened at the mansion. J.R. never admitted to taking A.J.?

Krystal: Nope. It's all my fault.

Marissa: Wait, how is any of this your fault?

Krystal: J.R. stopped by the restaurant and I mentioned that A.J. would be here for Halloween. I mean, I should have seen that he was up to something.

Marissa: No, J.R. has just been waiting for this chance. I mean, if it wasn't tonight, he would have tried something else. Oh, God. How many times have I doubted myself? Thought the temporary full custody was too extreme, that it was bad for A.J., that I was just punishing J.R., instead of putting A.J. first. And now, J.R. pulls this. All it's done is validate every decision I have made. A.J. can't grow up thinking that this is how you get what you want -- by just screwing over anyone who gets in your way? I mean, going around the law?

Krystal: I was really hoping that J.R. was better than this. I believed that he was going to work with you for A.J.

Marissa: I can't do nothing. I'm going to go to the police.

Krystal: No, no, no, no. Oh --

Marissa: What do you want?

Annie: I am so sorry.

Marissa: For what?

Annie: A.J. It's my fault. I took him.

Jake: What have we got?

Emergency Medic: Fell down a flight of stairs. Unconscious when we arrived. In and out on the bus.

Jake: G.C.S.?

Emergency Medic: 12. Pupils equal and reacting. P.B.'S 90 over 60. Pulse 110. Breath sounds good bilaterally.

Second Emergency Medic: We've got a number 16 line in running ringers. He's on 100% 02 by mask.

Jake: All right. Set him up for a lateral C spine scan and also a brain C.T., ok? Monitor his glucose.

Nurse: Yes, Doctor.

Jake: Erica, you were there?

Caleb: I was.

Jake: Ok. So, name?

Caleb: Pike. Asher Pike.

Jake: Is there anything else you can tell me?

Caleb: Worked for Junior Chandler.

Jake: No, I'm talking about family or friends or anybody if we have to call them.

Caleb: No idea.

Jake: Ok. I'll get to work then.

Erica: Ok. Will you keep us informed?

Jake: Yes, of course.

Erica: All right. Caleb --  Caleb, there's something you need to know.

Erica: Asher --  is your son.

Caleb: What?

Erica: I just found out tonight.

Caleb: No, that -- that can't be.

Erica: I went to J.R.'s. I was hoping to catch up with you, and I saw a file. J.R. was having a private investigator look into your past, and there was a report on Asher.

Caleb: No, no, what are you talking about?

Erica: Look, I thought that, under the circumstances here, that you needed to know this. And it's the truth, isn't it? I mean, you had -- 20 years ago, you had a son, didn't you?

Caleb: Yes.

Erica: Did you know you had a son?

Caleb: Yeah. Yes, I knew I had a son, but --  his mother died, and I never thought I'd see him again.

J.R.: If Judge Hale is there, you can tell him that J.R. Chan --  I understand. I'll wait for him to call me.

Colby: No luck?

J.R.: I'll just have to wait.

Colby: A.J.'s just getting his pajamas on. He should be down in a second.

J.R.: Thanks.

Colby: J.R., you know that I hated when Mom and Dad went to war over me. And you promised me that you wouldn't do this to A.J.

J.R.: I didn't start this.

Colby: It doesn't matter who started it. Just fix it, for A.J.

J.R.: I'm doing this for A.J.

Colby: [Sighs] Gosh, I've been trying to call Asher, but he's not picking up my calls.

J.R.: I'm sure he'll pop up any minute.

Colby: Why are you acting like everything is ok?

J.R.: Because everything is.

Colby: Except for the fact that you kidnapped your son, and you got Asher to do it.

J.R.: You know, if it makes you happy, I'll give Asher a bonus -- some hazard pay.

Colby: Oh, right, because money -- it solves everything, right?

J.R.: Yeah, well, it sure as hell helps.

Colby: J.R., when are you going to stop trying to force things to happen the way you want it to?

J.R.: You know, some people hope and pray and wish. I do something about it.

Colby: Fine, you can do something. But would it kill you to do the right thing?

J.R.: I deserve to have my son.

Colby: But you're buying off a judge to do it.

J.R.: Yeah, well, it's sort of a Chandler tradition.

Colby: You always talk about how you are nothing like Dad, but you are just like him. J.R., this is a total Adam Chandler move.

J.R.: No, no, Marissa made a mistake when she ambushed me with that temporary custody order.

Colby: But what if the judge doesn't come through? You could lose custody of A.J., and Asher could be in serious trouble.

J.R.: You need to have a little faith. Everything's handled.

Colby: How?

J.R.: It's taken care of.

Colby: Oh, my God. What did you do now?

J.R.: Nothing. Annie's just running a little interference for me.

Colby: You're counting on Annie to fix things? Have you completely lost your mind?

J.R.: I know that you're not a fan of Annie's. But right now, she's probably my only friend.

Annie: Emma and I were going trick-or-treating, and she really, really wanted to see A.J. She was so cute. She wanted to go as Lady Gaga in the meat dress. I was like, "I do not think that is age appropriate -- or hygienic, for that matter -- so I suggested Alice in Wonderland.

Krystal: Annie --

Annie: Sorry. Anyway, she kept going on and on and on about how she really wanted to go trick-or-treating with A.J. Anyway, we happened to bump into Asher Pike right down the street, and he heard her going on and on and on about how she wanted to go trick-or-treating with A.J. and -- oh, by the way, did you see the jack o'lanterns at the McGinley's'?

Marissa: I swear to God, if you don't tell me what happened --

Annie: Ok, I'm sorry. Anyway, so Asher came here looking for Colby, and A.J. was handing out candy. Oh, they were both dressed as werewolves.

Marissa: The werewolf --

Annie: Matching werewolves -- is that not the cutest thing you've ever heard about in your life? Anyway, so Asher -- because he had heard Emma talking about how much she really, really wanted to see A.J. -- Asher invited A.J. to come along trick-or-treating with us.

Marissa: Kidnapped him.

Annie: No, no, no. He just asked A.J. if he wanted to come.

Marissa: And no one thought it would be a good idea to ask the adults here if it was all right?

Annie: You know, I thought that Asher had cleared it with you. My bad. I totally should have checked. But honestly, we were just doing like a couple rounds of trick-or-treating. It was going to be really fast, and I was going to get A.J. back here, like, right away.

Krystal: But A.J. ended up at Chandler Enterprises.

Annie: Uh, well, I can explain that. Um, see, A.J. started talking about how much he missed his father and how Halloween was like their favorite holiday together. And he was so upset and so disappointed that he wasn't going to be able to spend this Halloween with his dad and -- oh, these are so good. I forget every year how good they are. So, I came up with this idea. I was like, why don't A.J. and J.R. get together, just for a couple minutes? They can spend some Halloween time together, they can take a few snapshots in their costumes, and they can have some candy, and everybody's happy.

Marissa: Kidnapping isn't legal just because it's a holiday.

Annie: Ok, but no, no, no -- technically -- technically, it really wasn't that. It definitely wasn't kidnapping. See, J.R. wasn't answering his cell phone, so I had Asher take A.J. to Chandler in case J.R. was working, and I -- I went to the mansion to see if J.R. was there, so --  that's all.

Marissa: That's all?

Annie: Uh, yeah, pretty much.

Krystal: Huh. Wow. All right. Caleb went to the office to get A.J. and bring him back here, and they should have been back by now.

Annie: Yeah, um -- ok, well, I can explain that, too. See, A.J. is with J.R.

Marissa: What?

Annie: At the mansion -- they're having some serious Halloween bonding.

Marissa: Oh, oh, is that all?

Annie: Um --

Marissa: Oh, my God.

Annie: Wait! Marissa, wait. Marissa, wait, please. This was all my fault. Honestly, I just thought 30 minutes of them spending time together -- who could it hurt?

Krystal: You took a child without telling his mother.

Annie: I know, and I am so, so sorry. But when you really think about it, is it that bad? I mean, you know, you're just letting a father and son be together on their favorite holiday. Would it be that terrible to let A.J. and J.R. spend a little bit more time together?

Marissa: I don't know. Would it be so terrible if I were to have you thrown in jail?

Caleb: He must have found out who I was and came looking for me.

Erica: Was Sonia his mother?

Caleb: Yeah. She died when he was born. I gave him --  I gave him away. I never thought I'd see him again.

Annie: I understand you hate me right now, but please don't be upset with J.R. about this.

Marissa: He is breaking a court order. He knows he's not supposed to have A.J. in that house.

Annie: But A.J.'s there because of me, not because of J.R.

Marissa: How stupid do you think I am? J.R. did this then convinced you to take the fall. You'd do anything for him.

Annie: Oh, come on. I am much more selfish than you're giving me credit for. I -- oh, I mean, you believe me, don't you?

Krystal: This is vintage J.R. Come on, he doesn't understand the word, "No." If he can't have what he wants, he'll do anything to get it.

Marissa: Yeah, lie, cheat, sleep with it.

Annie: I am not sleeping with J.R.

Marissa: Yeah, you were practically naked when I saw you at the cottage. A.J. almost walked in on you.

Annie: I know, and I am so sorry about that. And I am sorry about this. Listen, I am a mom. I should have known better. If somebody had just walked off with Emma, I would completely freak out. So I am sorry. It was so stupid, and it was a mistake. So you can go on hating me even more than you already do, but honestly, J.R. was so surprised to see A.J. there, because this whole stupid thing was my idea. All of it.

Marissa: You have lied to me so many times before. You can't expect me to believe you now. Keep trying to reach Caleb. I'm going to the police.

Annie: Um, wait! You can't -- you can't.

[Door opens and closes]

Annie: Hmm.

A.J.: Boo!

J.R.: Oh! Ha! You got me. Come here, come here. Oh, so the Halloween tricks live on, huh? [Laughs] You know it's more than just tricks and treats, though, right? It's about love. And the fact that we have each other, and that we love each other. You know, not every father and son are that lucky. Come here.

Caleb: [Sniffles] I told Sonia I never wanted to see her again. She didn't tell me she was pregnant. I took off for West Virginia. I was going to work with some wildcatters who were setting up a blast for a mine. And Sonia came -- she came looking for me -- to tell me that she was pregnant. Somehow, she got through the barricades, security. She went looking for me in the mine. And there was the explosion. By the time I got to her, she was barely alive, and she was in labor. They couldn't get to us. I couldn't get out. So I delivered the baby right there. This little boy. Huh. And --  in that moment, all of my resentment -- all of that stuff just disappeared. The only thing that mattered was Sonia and this -- this baby, you know. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Erica: It's ok. It's ok.

Caleb: She --  she just looked at me, and she told me she loved me. And then she handed the baby to me. Then she died.

Erica: Oh. I'm sorry.

Caleb: Yeah. Uncle Pete said that he'd find a family to look after him for me until I was ready.

Erica: And that's when you went up to the mountain?

Caleb: Yeah. I just had to get away. You know, I -- I didn't -- I was a little confused.

Erica: [Sighs] 20 years.

Caleb: Yeah. I can't believe he's just in the next room. Whew.

J.R.: Well, he's scarier than you were tonight. [Laughs]

[Door opens and closes]

J.R.: Right there. Yeah, that's probably a good spot for that.

A.J.: Mommy, come read with us!

Marissa: I'm afraid we can't, honey. It's time to go home, ok? Can you get your candy bag?

[J.R. clears throat]

Marissa: Don't make this uglier than you already have. You ready, sweetie? I'm warning you.

J.R.: Officer, this just came in from the appeals court. It overturns my wife's custody order and gives me full temporary custody of my son.

Marissa: No, no.

J.R.: I'm sure you'll find everything in order there. Don't make this uglier than what you already have.

Officer: I'm sorry, ma'am. The orders are very clear. The child stays.

Marissa: There is no way that you're getting away with this.

Annie: Hi.

Amanda: Oh, hey.

Annie: You want company?

Amanda: Actually, you know what? I could use some help finishing this.

Annie: Ooh. I might order us a second round, actually.

Amanda: Well, you're in a good mood.

Annie: Just your basic Halloween sugar high. Part of your costume?

Amanda: [Chuckling] Jake's.

Annie: Well, I'm feeling like a princess today. Actually, more like a good fairy.

Amanda: It looks good on you.

Annie: Oh, well, thank you.

Amanda: Good fairy, huh?

Annie: Mm-hmm.

Amanda: Did you make someone's wish come true?

Annie: I did.

Amanda: Well, come on. You can't stop there. Who was it? What was the wish?

Annie: Can you keep a secret?

Amanda: Sure.

Annie: Me, Annie Novak McDermott Lavery Chandler Chandler performed a completely unselfish act -- and not without significant personal risk.

Amanda: Really?

Annie: Yeah. Amazing, right? Shocking. But to be honest with you, though, it actually feels really, really good.

Amanda: So what did you do?

Annie: Let's just say I helped J.R. be able to spend some quality Halloween time with his son.

Amanda: But Marissa has custody of A.J. She won't let him anywhere near J.R.

Annie: Exactly! Ha! And thanks to me, A.J. is with J.R. right now at the mansion, and will probably be able to stay there.

Amanda: So you didn't do anything illegal, did you?

Annie: I ran interference, covered for J.R. on some sticky details, tied it in a bow, and voilá -- thank you, me.

Amanda: But you said it was risky.

Annie: Have you ever had Marissa screaming at you, calling you names, doing that whole "I'm so better than you" act that she does? Well, I did not let it get to me. I just did what I had to do, and I got out of there.

Amanda: Well, everyone knows that Marissa and J.R. are at war over A.J. and obviously, you are not her favorite person. Why would you even put yourself in that position?

Annie: I -- I know what it's like to have someone tell you that you can't see your child. And J.R. loves A.J. so much, and I saw a way that I could help, so I helped.

Amanda: Well, I hope you're not looking for his eternal gratitude, because that's not really the kind of guy he is.

Annie: That's not why I did it.

Amanda: Wait. Is it because -- are you guys together?

Annie: No! What -- no. No, it's really not like that.

Amanda: Because you and J.R --

Annie: We combust. Whatever is between us, it makes everybody miserable around us.

Amanda: So what you're saying is, you love him.

A.J.: Do I really get to stay here tonight?

J.R.: Yes, you do. And every night after that. I'm going to keep you safe and sound right at home where you belong.

J.R.: Hey. Where are you going in such a hurry?

Colby: It's Asher. There's been an accident. I have to get to the hospital.

[Monitor beeps steadily]

Erica: Go to him.

Caleb: No.

Erica: He may be unconscious, but he'll know you're there. He'll know his father's with him.

Caleb: I can't.
