Jack: Hey, you.

Erica: Good morning.

Jack: So? How do I look?

Erica: Tense.

Jack: Me? No, never tense. A little.

Erica: Jack, you are a brilliant lawyer. You are going to be so brilliant in the courtroom today.

Jack: Thank you. I hope you're right.

Erica: Of course, I am.

Jack: Yeah, well, Greenlee's future is in my hands.

[Doorbell rings]

Jack: Excuse me. Caleb?

Caleb: Good luck today.

Jack: Thanks. I appreciate that. See you, sweetheart.

Erica: Ok.

[Door closes]

Caleb: Wow.

Erica: Uh-huh.

Caleb: I have a question for you.

Erica: Well, it certainly must be important for you to be here this early.

Caleb: When are you getting married?

[As Annie reads the "Pine Valley Bulletin" with a large picture of Scott on the cover, the doorbell rings.  The headline screams, "Not so great, Scott. Chandler confesses to grand larceny"]

Amanda: Hey.

Annie: Hi.

Amanda: I heard about Scott. Are you ok?

Annie: [Sighs] I -- I dropped Emma off at school this morning, and all the mothers were whispering, looking at me like I was some piece of trash married to a criminal.

Amanda: That is not who you are.

Annie: The worst part is, I have to tell Emma that Scott's going to prison. No more marriage, no more home, no more family.

Amanda: Listen, just give it some time, You can tell Emma in a few days.

Annie: But I don't want her to hear it from somebody else, or the news. No, I -- I have to be the one to explain it to her. But how? How am I going to tell my daughter that I have destroyed everything again?

Liza: Oh, no!

Damon: Oh!

Liza: No, no, no, no, no! Oh, jeez. oh!

Iris: Sloppy. It's not what I want to see in my new D.A.

Liza: Madam Mayor --

Iris: Pull yourself together, Ms. Colby. You've got a trial in less than an hour.

Liza: Oh, I am ready.

Iris: I'm counting on you to convict David Hayward's killer.

Liza: I can't wait to get into that courtroom.

Iris: And when you get there, remember this. David's the only reason why you have this job. you owe him.

Greenlee: [Wakes up to Ryan kissing her] Ryan?

Ryan: Hi.

Greenlee: What are you doing here?

Ryan: I'm here to take you on your honeymoon. It's about time, right?

Greenlee: I don't understand.

Ryan: I love you. I love you, Greenlee. I never stopped loving you.

Greenlee: Oh. No! [Gasps as Ryan gets locked up in jail]

Kendall: You were having a nightmare.

Greenlee: What if it comes true? What if I go free and Ryan ends up in prison?

Ryan: Hey.

Jack: Hey.

Ryan: Jack, you -- you got a minute?

Jack: For you? You bet. Listen, before this trial starts, I just want to thank you for going to bat for Greenlee, for helping with her defense.

Ryan: Yeah, well, there's been a new development.

Jack: And what is that?

Ryan: Well, it turns out that I might have killed David, after all.

Caleb: Everything is about to hit the fan. And I need to know that my partner is going to be around to help me when it does.

Erica: Well, my wedding will only take one day. And Jack and I can be flexible about our honeymoon. Anyway, wherever I am, I'll be in touch.

Caleb: Well, you weren't in touch last summer.

Erica: Sure I was. Didn't you follow my tweets? Oh. Well, ok. I mean, I'm home now. And I agreed to our partnership and to get Cortlandt Electronics back from the Chandlers.

Caleb: I assume you've heard about Scott

Erica: Yes. That he confessed to stealing that multi-billion dollar idea from Palmer's, passed it off as his own. Look, it's all over. It's all over the news.

Caleb: Yeah, I know, I've seen it. This could be the break we've been waiting for.

Erica: Yes, of course, it could be. I just find it so hard to believe that Scott would do something like this. I mean, J.R., yes, but Scott?

Caleb: Well, I was there when he confessed, and I gave him hell for it, and now he refuses to see me.

Erica: You we there? And you didn't call me right away? Caleb! By now the Chandler lawyers have gotten to him.

Caleb: The important thing is that we are so close to getting the company now. And we can, if Junior doesn't get to him and persuade him to say that his confession was a lie.

Erica: Where do you think J.R. is in all this, anyhow? I mean, if he knew about the theft before he went behind your back and acquired Cortlandt electronics --

Caleb: Then we could void the sale, get the company back, and maybe even get Junior's company in the bargain.

Erica: I like that very much.

Caleb: [Laughs] Of course, you do.

[Door opens]

Opal: How could you?

Scott: I am so sorry.

Opal: You should be ashamed of yourself. Preying on a dying man like that, holding his hand while you pick his pocket? My Palmer's last days on this earth, he thought he was with a friend, somebody he could trust. A future partner maybe, and you just stepped right up and stabbed him in the back.

Scott: Opal, what I did was horrible. There is no excuse for it. But now I finally get her to tell you about those last few days with Palmer.

Opal: Oh, well, all the dirty details of how you swindled him, huh? Just save it.

Scott: No. No, you are going to want to hear this. Yeah, we talked mostly about business, but he also mentioned he was planning a trip.

Opal: What sort of trip?

Scott: He didn't go into details, But he said it was going to be very special. He wanted to see the places that he loved most in the world with the woman that he loved most in the world.

Opal: He was going to pop the question, you know.

Scott: Yeah.

Opal: Make me his bride all over again. I'm guessing that it was about our honeymoon.

Scott: And I should have told you sooner, ok.

Opal: Well, he is looking down shaking his head and wondering what possessed you.

Annie: [Sighs] My life is a total mess.

Amanda: Well, I've definitely been where you are. I mean, between my nightmare choices with men and my mentally ill mother, I have gotten more dirty looks than I can count.

Annie: Yeah, but now I am the nightmare choice. Let's be honest. I wasn't always the one that was necessarily mentally stable, either.

Amanda: Well, that doesn't mean that you can't turn your life around. And hey, I am not saying it's going to be easy. But it is possible, especially when you have people around you that care. And you do, Annie.

Annie: You barely know me.

Amanda: Well, I know we are both mothers. And even if we are going through hell, we keep it together for our kids.

Annie: Right. You're right. I cannot let Emma grow up thinking that life is one disastrous marriage after another. I need to -- I need to pick up the pieces for her and make sure that she stays, you know, happy and focused and positive.

Amanda: You can do that.

Annie: Oh, God. It's like why didn't I appreciate my life? Why did I push Scott to compete with J.R.? That's not who he is. You know, he's one of the honest guys. He's one of the good guys, but I -- I guess Scott wanted to impress me and prove that he could be one of the big shot power players he thought I wanted.

Amanda: You didn't tell Scott to steal.

Annie: Well, but I certainly cheered him on. And now he is going to prison, and he won't even see me. He hates me.

Amanda: Well, you need to stay strong for Emma.

Annie: You're right. She's the priority. She's what's most important.

Damon: Sorry again about the spill. How about get you a cup of decaf, instead?

Liza: Huh, you couldn't pay me to drink decaf.

Damon: I think it might be better for you.

Liza: You know what? I don't pay you think. What I pay you to do is do what I say. Well, if I ask you for coffee, might you bring me some coffee.

Damon: Fine. it's just, you know, you've been mainlining caffeine since you took this case. Did you sleep at all last night?

Liza: You know what? I don't sleep for a case. I'm wired. That's how I win.

Damon: This one time, I had a big exam, which, of course, I didn't study for until the night before. And I started, pounding the energy drinks, right? And so when I sat down to tree the test, my hand was shaking so bad that I couldn't hold the pen -- kind of like that.

Liza: Ok, you know what? I am trying to concentrate here.

Damon: How many cups did you have before you got here?

Liza: I'm under a little bit of pressure here, if you haven't noticed, from the mayor's little pep talk right there.

Damon: Liza, I'm trying to help.

Liza: You know what? You want to help me? Take this to the dry cleaners and go to my office. Get me my black suit that's in my closet and then go get me some coffee -- coffee, black coffee, high octane caffeinated coffee, and then get back here in a half an hour. And if you're not back here in half an hour, you're really going to see what wired is. Now, get out of here. I have a case to win.

Kendall: So the dream -- not naked in school?

Greenlee: More like Ryan behind bars. Locked away forever.

Kendall: Wait, you're the one on trial.

Greenlee: Yeah, my father intends to make Ryan look guilty on the stand.

Kendall: Yes, but, Greenlee, he doesn't know about the vial that you found in Ryan's pocket.

Greenlee: If anyone finds out that Ryan had the drug that killed David --

Kendall: They won't. They won't, if we stop talking about it, since we're the only two who know anything.

Greenlee: We hope.

Kendall: Listen, today is about protecting you -- getting off on the right foot with the jury.

Greenlee: Either they think I killed my husband or Ryan did. This is going to be fun.

Ryan: This guy Nick Pearson saw me in the hallway at the hotel right outside David's room immediately after the fight, he heard me say "Someone is going to die tonight."

Jack: Oh, brother.

Ryan: Exactly.

Jack: Did you see this Pearson guy?

Ryan: No. No, Jack, I didn't see anything, from the beginning of the fight until Kendall found me in the hallway. The rest of it's a blackout. I got nothing.

Jack: Don't you think it's a little bit odd that he shows up at the beginning of the trial?

Ryan: Yes, I think so, too, but this guy doesn't even want to talk. Look, he's married. And let's just say he wasn't in the hotel with his wife, if you know what I'm saying.

Jack: But he wants to testify in open court?

Ryan: Well, I don't know if he wants to testify, but I made sure that he's going to testify. Look, you got to put him and Tad on the stand.

Jack: Hold it. I don't put anybody on that witness stand, Ryan, that I haven't even spoken to. You understand?

Ryan: All right. Well, Tad has got him in a room at the Yacht Club.

Jack: Are you sure about this guy?

Ryan: Yeah, I am sure about this guy. The only thing that I'm not sure about is why I said someone was going to die that night. I mean, was I actually planning on poisoning Hayward?

Jack: There's something I want you to be very sure about. If I put that guy on the stand, you are going to be implicated.

Ryan: Well, if that's what it's going to take to save Greenlee, then that's what we got to do.

Jack: We just have to presume he didn't tip his hand when he talked to the police. Liza's not going to be expecting this, that's for sure. And lets this jury hear there's another viable suspect --

Ryan: That's it, we got our reasonable doubt.

Jack: And if you're incriminated?

Ryan: I'll worry about me later. Ok, besides, I happen to know a very good lawyer.

Kendall: Sorry that took so long. What are you doing?

Greenlee: What the hell are you supposed to wear to your own murder trial. My father wants me to look like I'm in mourning.

Kendall: Hmm. I don't know. That seems too planned. It's not you.

Greenlee: I'm not hitting the clubs.

Kendall: Well, you still have to look like yourself. Otherwise, you look scared and guilty.

Greenlee: I am guilty. You know, I feel like I had a hand in all of this.

Kendall: Oh, Greenlee, it's -- it's not your fault.

Greenlee: What if Ryan did kill David?

Kendall: Well, we don't know for sure. And if he did, we don't know why.

Greenlee: How is it that I can be so sad that David is gone, and then I'm doing everything I can to protect the man who might have killed him?

Kendall: Well, I never said you're not complicated.

Greenlee: David saved me, Kendall. Yours, too. People hated him, but he wasn't all bad. It just got so out of control. And now he's gone, and I'm trying to decide between a dress and a suit.

Kendall: Greenlee, so much has happened. You haven't had any time to grieve. That has to be hard.

Greenlee: You know, I think I'm ok. And then, it just hits me out of nowhere. I didn't want David to die. I loved him, I hated him, I wanted him out of my life. I believed in him. I had hoped that he could become the man that I knew he could become. I have to face a courtroom of people asking if I killed that man.

Damon: Replacement suit, replacement coffee.

Liza: Oh. Mmm. That's more like it.

Damon: I feel like a pusher.

Liza: Oh, please don't start with me right now. I'm actually not annoyed with you. You've done everything that I've asked. And these files are in perfect order.

Damon: Really?

Liza: Mm-hmm.

Damon: Cool, 'cause organization is not my thing.

Liza: Hmm. Thank you.

Damon: You're welcome.

Liza: Yeah. That'll work. What?

Damon: I never realized how much it takes.

Liza: Takes for what?

Damon: To be you.

Opal: Well, it really is you.

Caleb: You were expecting somebody else?

Opal: I thought it might be a prank. You've never called me before.

Caleb: May I?

Opal: Mm-hmm.

Caleb: I assume you heard about Scott, Uncle Pete's invention.

Opal: I just came from visiting old Scotty, yes, and he feels real bad about what he did.

Caleb: As well he should.

Opal: So what can I do for you?

Caleb: I'm sorry that you lost Pete before you had a chance to --

Opal: Caleb Cortlandt, are you checking up on me?

Caleb: Well, we didn't really -- I didn't get off to a good start when we first met. I mean, when we found out that Pete wanted me to come here and -- stay here in Pine Valley and run his company --

Opal: Yeah. It came as kind of a shock to you, I guess.

Caleb: A shock? I thought it was a cruel joke. But in the time that I've been here, I've had a chance to think about things, and I realize that the least I can do is respect him, his wishes -- and be nice to his girl.

Opal: So you and Erica are going to take back Cortlandt now?

Caleb: Damn right.

Opal: Well, I like that spark in your eye.

Caleb: Hmm.

Opal: Palmer used to look like that when he was gearing up for a big battle.

Caleb: Really?

Opal: Yeah.

Caleb: Well, it's not just out business.

Opal: I'm glad you decided to stay.

Caleb: For whatever reason, Pete thought I was the right guy for the job. So I'm here. And as you know, I even changed my last name.

Opal: You shaved your beard, got yourself a hell of a nice haircut, and I know hair.

Caleb: You like it?

Opal: [Chuckles] Yeah.

Caleb: Well, they're not just token gestures. They mean something.

Opal: Like a second chance?

Scott: Didn't you get the memo? No more visitors.

Erica: I just charmed my way past detectives, two cops, and one very nasty German shepherd. So you have a visitor, like it or not.

Opal: You know, Erica used to have this TV show. It was called "New Beginnings." You could have been on that show. Well, it's all over now, of course, but, I mean, I know there are still a lot of people who would love to hear your story.

Caleb: Yeah, well, I'm not much for telling stories.

Opal: Especially about yourself.

Caleb: Opal, what's done is done.

Opal: Not always.

Caleb: I should be going.

Opal: Lots of work to do, huh?

Caleb: I really am sorry.

Opal: You are? For what?

Caleb: About you losing Pete.

Opal: Yeah, so am I. But I'm glad we got you.

Caleb: Well, we'll see about that, but thanks.

Opal: Mm-hmm. Well, tell Erica to call me, would you?

Caleb: Want me to pass a message on to her?

Opal: Well, she is your partner, isn't she?

Caleb: Oh, that, she is.

Opal: [Laughs] I know you felt that was Palmer's cruel joke.

Caleb: Pete was no fool. Thanks for your time.

Opal: Mm-hmm.

Erica: Palmer was one of my dearest friends. I almost died bringing his will back to Pine Valley. And you had the audacity to come to the reading, sit there pretending to pay your respects to him, when all the while, you had stolen from him.

Scott: Opal's already reamed me out. Caleb, too. I know what I did was wrong. I wouldn't be here if I didn't. And I am truly sorry.

Erica: Well, you turned yourself in. That's a good sign. That says a lot. It says that you want to try to make up for what you did. If, in fact, you did it.

Scott: Excuse me?

Erica: Scott, we were all very surprised to hear about the theft, but the biggest shock was that you were the Chandler who did it. I mean, if it had been J.R. --

Scott: Oh, ok. This conversation is over.

Erica: At the very least, J.R. had to know about it, Scott. Maybe he even set you up. And if that's the case, you can cut a deal. I happen to have an in with two very brilliant lawyers -- Jackson and Caleb.

Scott: I stole Palmer's idea -- me, alone -- and I don't appreciate you trying to manipulate me into taking somebody else down.

Erica: Oh, come on, Scott, let's have a reality check here. Everyone knows that J.R. has been hovering around your wife, making trouble in your marriage. If I were you, I would do everything I could to make sure that J.R. is the one who ends up in this cell.

Liza: Counselor.

Jack: I want to apologize for the other day.

Liza: Accepted.

Jack: Thank you. And to tell you that you're right. I am taking this case too personally. But I can and will comport myself as a professional -- even while I'm doing everything I can to save my daughter.

Liza: Well, as a parent and a lawyer, I would expect nothing less.

Greenlee: So?

Kendall: So ho ho -- you look fabulous. Great. But not so fabulous that you look uncaring.

Greenlee: Yeah, well, let's hope the sketch artist gets my good side.

Kendall: Yeah, that would be your not-guilty side.

Greenlee: Have you talked to Ryan this morning?

Kendall: He actually went the courthouse early to meet Jackson.

Greenlee: Oh. Has he ever not been there for me?

Kendall: Either of us.

Greenlee: Well, I can't have him sitting next to me. I don't want it to look like --

Kendall: To look like you still love him?

Greenlee: The jury has to see a woman who loved her husband, and nobody else.

Ryan: Hey, I need to talk to you.

Annie: Uh, now is not a good time, Ryan.

Ryan: It's about Emma.

Annie: Emma? What's wrong?

Ryan: Nothing. Nothing is wrong. I just need you to be available to help out with her just a little bit more the next couple days.

Annie: Of course, but, Ryan, you should know things are really bad around here.

Ryan: I know -- I'm sorry -- what you're going through with Scott. I know I would not ask you if it wasn't really, really I important.

Annie: Greenlee's trial?

Ryan: It starts today.

Annie: Ok, Ryan, but with everything that Emma has gone through, she really needs her father right now. She has already lost Scott. She can't lose you, too.

Ryan: All right, well, I will be there for her as much as I possibly can, but honestly, you should prepare for anything.

Greenlee: Could there be more reporters outside?

Kendall: You were the picture of confidence.

Greenlee: I'm not confident. I'm scared.

Kendall: I know. But whatever happens, just remember, we're in this together. Come on.

Annie: No.

Ryan: It -- it might not happen.

Annie: Well, but it might.

Ryan: The point is, Greenlee did not kill David.

Annie: So you're going to let Jack make it look like you did? That's insane, Ryan.

Ryan: The goal is just to gain reasonable doubt, that's it, not to put me in prison.

Annie: But -- but Jack doesn't get to decide that.

Ryan: Jack is a very good lawyer, and he knows what he's doing.

Annie: Right, yeah. Sure -- selling you out to save his daughter. What about your daughter?

Ryan: I would never bail on Emma.

Annie: Ryan, how do you expect her to deal with this? She's already lost a stepfather. Now her father's going to be in prison?

Ryan: Look, I'm not going to let it come to that, Annie.

Annie: Oh, and how are you going to stop it? Are you really willing to risk Emma growing up without you for this? For Greenlee?

Ryan: Look, she didn't do it. I can't let her get locked up for something that she didn't do. You can understand that, Annie.

Annie: All I care about is Emma.

Ryan: You know, there was a time where I wouldn't have believed that, but now I do. You're a good mom, and you're raising a good little girl. All I'm asking -- all I'm asking is for you to tell her that I'm going to be busy in court for the next couple of days, and for you be strong, and show her how to be strong. Can you do that?

Annie: Ok. I will. [Hugs Ryan] [Sighs] This is from Emma and me. Good luck.

Ryan: Thanks.

[Door closes]

[Annie sighs]

Erica: You love Annie. You married her. But J.R. just couldn't leave it alone, can he? He can't stand to lose. He couldn't stand to see you happy while his marriage was failing.

Scott: I am not talking to you about this.

Erica: Well, there's no glory in martyring yourself for somebody who just wants to hurt you.

Scott: This is not about J.R.

Erica: It's about you -- not being pushed around.

Scott: Nobody is pushing me around anymore, Erica, not even you.

Erica: Me? I'm only trying to help you.

Scott: No, you're not. I get it. You're only doing what you feel like you have to do. Look, I know how many people I have disappointed. The shame and the anger -- I have seen it on so many faces. But the one face that I keep picturing the most is my father's, and what he would say to me if he were around to see this.

Erica: Scott, something tells me that if your father were still around, none of this ever would have happened.

Scott: But he's not, and it did. I can handle it. And I'm not changing my mind about J.R. I'm taking responsibility for my own actions.

Erica: What you did to Palmer was despicable, but I'm not going to waste my time judging you. That will not change anything. But I just want you to know that Caleb and I are here for you.

Scott: Because you want to take down J.R.

Erica: We're here for you if you need us.

Scott: Erica, wait. There is one thing you can do for me.

Kendall: You ok?

Greenlee: Yeah, yeah, I am. I just need a minute. Don't you have a business to run?

Ryan: I can work at night, mornings, or on recess.

Ryan: If the jury sees you camped out here, they could get the wrong idea.

Ryan: Oh, no, I left my tent at home, so there's no camping.

Greenlee: That's very funny.

Ryan: Thank you. You look good. You look strong.

Greenlee: Go home. Take Madison to lunch. Take her to Paris.

Ryan: Can you excuse me for a second? I want to get a seat while I still have the chance.

Jack: So you ready?

Liza: Greenlee, it's not too late to stop this.

Jack: We're not going to take the plea, Liza.

Liza: You are facing murder one. That's 25 to life. This is your last chance. Do you want to make a deal?

Jack: There will not be a deal. Period.

Liza: Don't say I didn't offer.

Damon: Legal pads, files, notes, three pens, ballpoint, not felt tip, blue, not black. Please tell me that's right.

Liza: And the streak continues. A.D.A. Mitchell, you ready to kick some ass?

Mitchell: Always.

Jack: Hey, I'm not going to let you down.

Bailiff: All rise.

[Footsteps enter courtroom]

Annie: Twice in one week? How did I get so lucky?

Erica: I've just come from visiting Scott. Your husband has agreed to see you.

Annie: What?

Erica: Scott will see you down at the jail.

Annie: Why did he send you?

Erica: No, I sent myself. There's a reason why I'm involved.

Annie: You want Cortlandt Electronics.

Erica: Scott has taken the first step towards repentance.

Annie: Is that what he told you?

Erica: He told me that he's done something terrible, and he wants to make up for it. Annie, is there something that you need to make up for?

Annie: Not that I feel like sharing with you.

Erica: You've put your little girl through hell. You have blown through relationship after relationship, and now with J.R., I'm sure he's making your life a living hell.

Annie: Do you really want to compare sins, Erica?

Erica: No, no. What I'm saying is that you finally have a chance to do something right for Emma, for your little girl. And Scott's trying to do something right, so help him -- help him finish the job. Serve J.R. up. You owe him nothing.

Annie: I -- I -- I have to go see my husband.

Erica: Yes.

Caleb: Well, Pete, you knew what you were doing. Erica and I are going to get your company back. The Chandler family is about to crash.

Liza: Now, David Hayward was no saint. But does that mean he deserved to be poisoned? Taken to an early grave, because someone wanted him out of the way? Now, Greenlee Smythe Hayward was in a very volatile marriage. Her husband loved her desperately, and she was desperate to get out -- reasons that are going to soon become very clear. He actually pressured her to stay with him. The defense is going to try and distract you with stories of bribery and ex-lovers and forgery and lies and betrayal. This is a story about greed. I mean, it's greed. It's about a poor little rich girl who always gets what she wants. David Hayward -- he gave her what she needed. He saved her life, and he nursed her back to health for a year -- total dedication and unconditional love. I mean, that's what every wife dreams of. But not Mrs. Hayward. Because once she was back on her feet, she didn't need him anymore. She wanted out of the marriage, and she wanted him to let her go. But with David kicking and screaming, that wasn't enough. So she used a lethal dose of digitalis. Mrs. Hayward may have money and power, but she does not have the right to murder to get what she wants.

Erica: I heard you had a lovely conversation with Opal. Thank you for reaching out to her like that. It means a lot.

Caleb: Come on in.

Erica: Thank you.

Caleb: How'd it go with Scott?

Erica: Ok. Well, he hasn't actually admitted that J.R. is guilty -- not yet, anyhow. But I know that I poured some extra fuel on the fire.

Caleb: Oh, as only you can do. We'll get him.

Erica: Is that optimism I hear?

Caleb: It's a fact.

Erica: Well, I feel very optimistic myself. I feel so sure that we are going to get Cortlandt Electronics back, and we're going to get justice for Palmer.

Caleb: As much as I hate to admit it, you're not always wrong.

Erica: I'm sorry, can you say that again?

Caleb: Oh, I think the old man knew what he was doing pairing us up. All of those times that I called you a pain --

Erica: No, oh, um -- you don't have to remind me. You promised to rein it in. That was part of the deal.

Caleb: I was about to give you a compliment.

Erica: Compliments are always welcome.

Caleb: I think I'll wait until I really need it.

Annie: Scott --

[Scott sighs]

Annie: Thank you for letting me come see you.

Scott: Yeah. How's Emma with everything?

Annie: I haven't told her yet. This afternoon, I'm going to sit her down and -- we'll get through it. How are you? Are you ok?

Scott: I'm fine. I'm ok.

Annie: What -- what does your lawyer say? I've been so worried about you.

Scott: Don't be. I know what I have to do, and I'm ready.

Annie: To go to prison?

Scott: To say good-bye.

Jack: My client was almost killed in a terrible motorcycle accident. She was in a coma for nearly a year. And she was paralyzed from the waist down. As extensive as her injuries were, the psychological, the emotional damage was even more devastating. David Hayward rescued her. He brought her back from the brink of death. He made her body whole again. Despite the prosecution's attempt to paint my client as an ungrateful brat, nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is, she loved David Hayward. Which is more than can be said for most of the people at the party where he died, many of whom had a motive -- a strong motive to get rid of this man that they considered a monster. now, the prosecution here -- they will string together a series of random events the sum total of which amounts to nothing but speculation, because that's all the state has. There is not one eyewitness. All the evidence is circumstantial. There is not one shred of proof that my client killed her husband. As you may know, this is Ms. Colby's first trial as D.A. Having been there, I can tell you that she is under tremendous pressure to bring a conviction in this case -- even if it means imprisoning an innocent woman. Don't let her use you to do that.

Judge: Thank you, Mr. Montgomery. We'll take a brief recess before the prosecution begins its case. [Pounds gavel]

Bailiff: All rise.

Jack: Are you ok?

Greenlee: Fine.

Jack: I'll be back in just a minute.

Greenlee: Ok.

Ryan: Nice job. Nice job.

Jack: Yeah, well, let's hope the jury thinks so.

Ryan: If they don't, I want you to know, I will take the hit. I will do it. I will confess to killing David.
