David: I knew there was something going on with you for a while now, but I just couldn't figure out what. It's your eyes, isn't it?
Angie: I don't know what you're talking about.
David: There's something wrong with them. Look at me.
Angie: Get away from me!
David: Dr. Hubbard, stop! There's a bench right in front of you. Oh, my God. You can't see anything at all.
Madison: I still don't think it's a good idea for you to be traveling this morning.
Ryan: Look at me. I'm like -- I'm done. I'm good. No more dizzy spells. My memory's good.
Madison: Not that good. You promised you'd stay home on the couch with me all week and watch chick flicks.
Ryan: I don't remember saying anything about chick flicks. Oh, you are good. You're very good. That was good.
Madison: Well, it was worth a try. So I assume this meeting has something to do with Greenlee? Thought so.
Ryan: Madison --
Madison: No, no, no. I get it. I really do. You promised that you would help her get away from David, and you always keep your promises.
Ryan: I try to.
Madison: Well, I, for one, am rooting for you, Ryan. Because the sooner this is all over with, the sooner we can get back to you and me.
[Knock on door]
Scott: Hey, Ryan? Ryan, if you're in there, I need to talk to you. Greenlee? Hi. What are you doing here?
Greenlee: That's a good question.
J.R.: So this is how it's gonna be? You and Scott for the rest of your lives, happily ever after?
Annie: Yes. We agreed on this, J.R. This is the way it should be -- me with Scott, you with Marissa.
J.R.: And one big, happy family.
Annie: That's right. So leave me alone. I am getting married today, J.R. I am getting married --
J.R.: You're not married yet. So I'm gonna ask you one more time. Is this really what you want?
Annie: No, don't you dare do that. Don't you dare try to ruin this day for me.
J.R.: I'm not trying to ruin anything.
Annie: That is exactly what you're trying to do, but it won't work. I won't let you.
J.R.: I'm just trying to make sure this is what you want to do.
Annie: I told you I am sure.
J.R.: You know, marrying and moving out of this house is not like flipping on a switch. It's not gonna make everything ok.
Annie: It could help.
J.R.: I hope you're right. I have work to do. I have to rebuild my marriage. I have to make sure that your husband-to-be didn't set Chandler Enterprises up for a fall. I have to be able to walk into a room and not feel something for you. I should be able to walk into the room and just be able to wish you well and walk away. I should be able to accept the fact that you're leaving and not have to imagine how empty this place is gonna be without you in it.
Annie: Then be that person, J.R., because I am marrying Scott today.
J.R.: Then I guess the only thing to say is congratulations and good luck. And I mean that.
Greenlee: I was just dropping something off for Emma.
Scott: Ryan isn't here?
Greenlee: No. I used a spare key. I remember it from when I used to live here, so --
Scott: Any idea where I can find him? It's kind of important.
Ryan: You can find him right here. What's going on? Did I leave the door open or something?
Scott: She used the spare key.
Greenlee: Sorry. I should've called.
Ryan: Yeah. So what's going on? You needed to see me?
Scott: Actually, I think Emma might need to see you. Annie and I are getting married today.
Scott: Yeah. Yeah, I know it's kind of sudden, and I just wanted your help to make sure she was ok with the idea.
Ryan: Oh, yeah. Emma? Sure. Yeah, I'll talk to her. Thank you for thinking of my little girl's feelings.
Scott: Yeah, whatever's best for Emma.
Ryan: Yeah, you got that right. Hey, well, uh, congratulations, and good luck.
Scott: Thank you.
Ryan: All right.
Greenlee: Wow. "Good luck" is right.
Ryan: Hey, Annie is trying.
Greenlee: I hope so.
Ryan: Another one of my exes moves on.
Greenlee: I hope her choice turns out better than mine.
Ryan: So do I.
Greenlee: So do you have time to go and talk to Emma before you meet with David's plane mechanic?
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got time.
Greenlee: Keeps a guy busy, doesn't it? Helping everybody who needs you?
Ryan: Well, being a dad is my number one job.
Greenlee: And helping me? That just a hobby?
Ryan: Something like that.
Greenlee: Well, just be careful, all right? I promised Madison I would never put you in any danger.
Ryan: Yeah, "careful" is my middle name. So where is it?
Ryan: The something that you were gonna bring over for Emma.
Greenlee: Oh, uh, that.
Ryan: Greenlee, what's going on? What's the real reason that you're here waiting for me?
David: Here. So what's your condition?
Angie: I'm not talking about this with you.
David: I think it's a little late for that, don't you?
Angie: It's a fungal infection localized in the retinas. Invasive, progressive, causes periods where my eyesight is compromised.
David: "Compromised"? Angela, you can't see. How long has this been going on?
Angie: Too long.
David: That's a long time to be carrying on this charade.
Angie: Most of the time my vision is fine.
David: Except for those occasions when it isn't.
Angie: And I'm undergoing treatment.
David: But those treatments aren't working, are they, Doctor?
Angie: It's too soon to tell.
David: I think we both know that isn't true. Now, I'm sure your clinical diagnosis would tell a very different story, that an infection which causes this kind of damage would eventually destroy your retina. Now, you said that it was progressive, meaning that someday in the very near future, you're gonna lose your eyesight for good. Angela --
Angie: Oh, Jesse!
Jesse: Angela? Baby, come on. Let's get out of here.
Angie: It's too late, baby. He knows.
Jesse: You told him everything?
Angie: About the infection, yes.
Jesse: So now you know. We done here?
David: I don't think so.
Jesse: What do you want, Hayward?
David: First, I'd like to express my sympathy. Losing one's eyesight is a very traumatic ordeal for both of you. Have you been consulting with a specialist? I know a researcher at Johns Hopkins who's doing some amazing work in optic surgery. Now, I'd be very happy to put you in touch with him, if you'd like.
Angie: Yes, I would. Thank you.
David: Ok. I can't even imagine, Angela, as a doctor, losing your eyesight.
Angie: We're not giving up.
David: I'm sure you're not. That wouldn't be you. Now, of course, this means the end of your career at the hospital and as a doctor, which I'm sure makes the whole thing so much more painful for you.
Greenlee: I was anxious to let you know how things were going with David and -- anyway, sorry, again.
Ryan: Is there a change?
Greenlee: Not really. I defended him this morning against Caleb Cooney.
Ryan: Caleb Cooney, the guy who helped Erica after the plane crash?
Greenlee: Yeah. Yeah. He was being really hard on David, and I rose to his defense like a good, loyal, supportive wife that I'm supposed to be.
Ryan: Well, if I can get this mechanic to turn on David, you won't have to convince him of anything else ever again, except for maybe to get a really good lawyer.
Greenlee: I hope so.
Ryan: Well, if I'm gonna see Emma before the hospital, I better get going.
Greenlee: Ryan, wait. I'm going with you.
Annie: And you do know how much Scott loves you, right? Emma, I just want to make sure that you're happy about this wedding today. I know it seems very sudden. Emma, sweetheart, what is it? Ooh, what's wrong? Are you scared Mommy's gonna get hurt again? Is that what's bothering you?
Emma: I don't like it when you're sad.
Annie: Oh, but I'm not. I'm not sad. I'm actually very, very happy. And I know that I made some mistakes before. But sometimes as a grownup, you have to go through the sadness and hurt a little bit to understand what true love is, and that's what I found.
[Knock on door]
Annie: No, no, no! You can't see the dress! It's bad luck!
Scott: Sorry. Sorry.
Annie: Did you peek?
Scott: No. First time I see that dress will be when the justice of the peace says those words.
Annie: Good. Is there something you wanted to see me about?
Scott: Yeah. Um, I hope you don't mind, but I asked Ryan to stop by. I don't think he'll stay for the wedding or anything like that, but --
Emma: Daddy's coming?
Scott: Yeah. He should be here any minute.
[Scott and Annie laugh]
Scott: I guess that was a hit, huh?
Annie: Yeah, I think it was.
Scott: Ok. You really don't mind, do you?
Annie: No. I've been trying to figure out all day what's been bothering her, and you just knew instinctively.
Scott: Sometimes a little girl just needs her dad.
Annie: I think I just might marry you.
Scott: I want us to be a family, Annie. You, me, Emma -- a real family. I can't wait.
Annie: Neither can I.
Marissa: Um, I hear there's gonna be a wedding in here today.
J.R.: Yeah. That's right. Listen, why don't we get out of here, just the two of us?
Marissa: J.R., I --
J.R.: No, come on, let's give Annie and Scott their day. Just come with me.
J.R.: To the cottage.
Marissa: You've got to be kidding me.
J.R.: No, it all makes some kind of weird sense to me. We were supposed to meet there.
Marissa: Yeah. Well, I mean, that didn't go over very well.
J.R.: But just imagine for me that you showed up just a few minutes later, and Annie wasn't there. She was with Scott at home, where she wanted to be, and we were set to do what we wanted to do, which was save our marriage.
Marissa: Oh, God, you can't change history just like that.
J.R.: I know, but life is full of moments like that, right? A few minutes here, a few minutes there? I mean, that's how it was for me not too long ago when I almost died. What I'm saying is we maybe get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get things right, the way that we want to do it. So please. Please, just -- just come away with me.
Ryan: When the mechanic shows up, he'll expect to see David or at least somebody that works with David. If he sees you, he's gonna know right away that it's a setup.
Greenlee: I could rope the mark for you.
Ryan: I'm sorry, you -- you remember that?
Greenlee: All that grifter lingo? Yeah, sure, I do. You taught me very well.
Ryan: Maybe a little bit too well.
Greenlee: You remember our road trip, conning that manager into giving us a free suite?
Ryan: You're still not coming with me.
Greenlee: Ryan --
Ryan: Two reasons. Number one, David is watching you like a hawk. Number two, we're talking about a guy who took money to sabotage Erica's airplane. Ok? He could be a psychopath. You're staying home.
Greenlee: I never wanted to pull you into this mess.
Ryan: You didn't. It was my choice. The only question is how long you can keep pretending with David.
Greenlee: As long as it takes.
Ryan: I just hate the thought of you having to --
Greenlee: Don't go there, Ryan. I'll keep playing the game.
Ryan: Hopefully after today, the game will be over and you can get back to the things that matter most to you, like Fusion.
Greenlee: Yeah. Right. Fusion.
Angie: I can't believe I fell for it.
Angie: For one minute, I almost detected a small hint of compassion. But I should've known better.
David: I'm still happy to give you the referral. Miracles can happen, you do know that?
Jesse: You never cease to amaze me, Hayward. Using somebody's illness to punish them -- that's pathetic.
David: Ok, all right. Let's not go down that path, all right? It's a bit hypocritical, don't you think? For years you two have tried to take me down. And now you have the audacity to cry foul when the tables seem to be turned on you? Come on. Are you serious?
Jesse: You break laws constantly. You ruin people's lives.
David: So you say.
Jesse: So it is, and it will come out.
David: Ok. All right, fine. In the meantime, why don't we focus on Dr. Hubbard's criminal behavior?
Angie: What are you talking about?
David: Practicing medicine while blind without advising the hospital or your patients? At the very least, that should get your medical license revoked, which is kind of ironic, don't you think? Now, when these incidents occurred, you were on duty, right? Now, did you even write up a report?
Angie: You know I didn't. But there was not one minute that a patient was compromised. I always made sure that I was covered.
David: Ok. All right, let me guess. The usual suspects, right? Dr. Martin? Young Dr. Hubbard? Although, it was nice of you to put their career on the line, too.
Angie: They were only trying to help.
David: Well, that's one way to look at it. Another is them assisting you in perpetuating a fraud.
Angie: Look, you leave them out of this.
David: You never should've been anywhere near that hospital in your condition.
Angie: I already told you --
David: You could've killed someone.
Jesse: All right, back it up, or this is gonna get real ugly real fast.
David: Take care of your wife, Jesse. She's gonna need it.
J.R.: Whew. It's warm in here, huh? [Opens window] Whew. You ok?
Marissa: Just be honest with me, J.R. Why did you bring me here today?
J.R.: I told you.
Marissa: Yeah, I know what you said, but why now? Was it just to get away from Annie's wedding?
J.R.: No. No. I saw you in the study and it hit me: What if?
Marissa: Yeah. What if? God, I had so much hope back then, you know, coming here to see you?
J.R.: You see, that's just the thing -- so did I. This is the place where we're supposed to start over, make plans for our future. Look, I want to wipe this slate clean, ok? No more apologies, no more going back. Just you and me and the rest of our lives together.
Ryan: So are you ok with all this wedding stuff?
Emma: I guess so.
Ryan: Hmm. Would it help if I told you that I am really, really, really happy for your mom?
Emma: Scott's not gonna be my daddy, is he?
Ryan: What? No. You're stuck with me. I'm the daddy, you're the daughter, forever. Forever and ever and ever. Ok? We good now?
Emma: Yeah. I love you, Daddy.
Ryan: I love you, too, Princess. Oh!
Emma: Mommy's the princess.
Ryan: Yeah, she sure is!
Ryan: Wow. Look at you. You look beautiful.
Annie: Thank you. Oh, look -- get your doll, sweetheart.
Annie: Is she ok?
Ryan: That depends on you. I heard you at the hospital, what you told me about J.R. I really wasn't that out of it.
Annie: Ryan, listen --
Ryan: Don't say a word. Just keep on smiling. I told Emma everything was gonna be all right. Don't make a liar out of me.
Annie: All of that is in the past.
Ryan: It better be. Good luck.
Annie: Thank you.
Ryan: Ems, get over here and give me a hug. Have fun today, ok?
Ryan: Ok. I love you. See you later.
Annie: Bye. You ready? Ok.
Scott: Ohh. I never thought it was possible for you to look more beautiful, but you do. You look amazing.
Annie: Thank you. Justice: Everybody ready?
Annie: Yeah. Justice: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. Since it's just us here, we'll dispense with the "speak now or forever hold your peace" part.
Scott: No. This is wrong. We can't do this.
Annie: Scott, what is it? What's wrong?
Scott: I'm sorry.
Emma: Is there gonna be a wedding, Mommy?
Annie: Uh, one second, baby.
Scott: Yes, yes, Emma, there is going to be a fantastic wedding. It just isn't gonna be here.
Annie: You know what, honey? Mommy needs to talk to Scott for one second, ok? Um, what -- I don't understand.
Scott: We cannot get married here in this house, in this room.
Annie: But it was your idea.
Scott: I know, and it was completely and utterly wrong. We're moving out of here, Annie, and not just because of J.R. and the rest of them, because of the memories, all the bad memories that happened in this place.
Annie: Are you talking about Stuart?
Scott: Yes, I'm talking about my father. My father died in this room. You married Adam in this room. Why would I want the most important, the most beautiful day in my life to be surrounded by so much unhappiness?
Annie: Ok. But -- so you still want to get married?
Scott: Do you doubt that?
Annie: For a second, I thought that you --
Scott: Hey, I love you, Annie. I want you to be my wife. That hasn't changed. I got an idea.
Scott: Can you stick around for a while?
Annie: Scott, what are you doing?
Scott: I can't tell you, but I think you're gonna like it.
Emma: Where's he going, Mommy?
Annie: I don't know, sweetheart. But, um, I think Scott just wants to make sure that everything's perfect.
J.R.: For so long you've been asking me to live our lives: You, me, and A.J. Now, I can't promise you that I'm not gonna ever make a mistake, but I can promise you that I'm not gonna make the same kind of mistake I made with Annie.
Marissa: You can't know that.
J.R.: Look at me. When I was dying -- I made so many promises to myself. And when I got better, I broke most of them, especially the ones about being a better husband.
Marissa: J.R., please.
J.R.: I am such a fool for taking you for granted, and you have to know that I would never do that again, ever.
Marissa: J.R., please. You just got to stop, ok?
J.R.: Marissa, you have to know how sorry I am.
Marissa: No, no, no. No.
J.R.: What is it?
Marissa: It wasn't just you. It wasn't just you.
Jesse: Are you all right? I should've never left you alone.
Angie: It was inevitable, him finding out, and now it's done. I mean, my career is completely --
Jesse: Hey, not so fast.
Angie: You know it's true. David will use this against everybody: Frankie and Jake. He'll make sure that they're punished for supporting me.
Jesse: It ain't over till it's over.
Angie: I don't know about that.
Jesse: Well, I do. You are Dr. Angela Hubbard, my wife. I mean, you can conquer the whole damn world and still have time to make breakfast for your family. We're having this baby together, Angela. David Hayward can't take a thing from you.
Angie: He'll take what he takes, but not the most important things. Not you.
Greenlee: That's awful.
David: I knew it. Huh. I knew something's been going on with her for weeks. But this? No. No, she covered up really well.
Greenlee: Poor Angie. She must've been devastated.
David: Yeah, well, "Poor Angie" may have cost our hospital its charter.
Greenlee: I don't think that's going to happen.
David: Blind doctors treating patients? Come on!
Greenlee: From what you told me, she always had another doctor there to back her up.
David: Greenlee, I don't think you understand the seriousness of this. This woman put our entire investment in jeopardy because of her stubborn, arrogant insistence that she's the only doctor who can make a difference.
Greenlee: Huh. Sounds like somebody else I know.
David: The woman crossed the line.
Greenlee: Then let the lawyers handle the fallout if there is any. Angie is going blind. Obviously she can't keep seeing patients, but she could be an administrator. You're not gonna let that happen, are you?
David: All right, you know something? It's been a long day. Why don't we talk about this some other time?
Greenlee: No, no, that would never do. You want your pound of flesh for all the wrongs the Hubbards have done to you, and you're gonna get it no matter what. Tell me something, David. How many battles can you handle? How many wars can you fight?
Angie: That's a face I always want to see.
Jesse: Welcome back, baby.
Angie: Thanks for the pep talk.
Jesse: You kidding me? How many times have I been on the receiving end in one of those from you? Besides, it's nothing you don't already know. And just to be clear, I mean, it was David taking us on, right? We've traveled thousands of miles, we've missed all those years --
Angie: And we're still here.
Jesse: Damn straight.
Angie: Jesse, I don't know what I'm gonna do, but I do know this. I am a hundred times more blessed even without my sight. I have a loving family, a wonderful husband, and a new baby on the way -- and, yes, plenty of fight left in me to still stand my ground with David somehow.
Jesse: You won't be standing alone.
Angie: And God help anyone who gets in our way.
David: I know you and Angie have been friends.
Greenlee: She saved my life, something the two of you have in common.
David: And she and her husband have been spending the last few years trying to ruin mine.
Greenlee: But they haven't, David. You've won. Jesse had to fight to get his job back, and Angie is going blind. What more do you want?
David: I haven't decided yet what I want to do with Angie.
Greenlee: I'm sure it'll be suitably diabolical.
David: What am I supposed to do? Give her a free pass? No harm, no foul?
Greenlee: You could if you wanted to. You've covered up worse. You're angry, David, and maybe you have a right to be, but there's an opportunity for you here if you could just take a step back and look at it.
David: To do what?
Greenlee: Surprise people. This whole town will be expecting you to crush Jesse and Angie for everything they've done to you. Don't give them what they're expecting.
David: In other words, be the better man?
David: Greenlee, that sounds very odd coming from you, considering --
Greenlee: You're a complicated man, David. That's probably one of the reasons I was drawn to you in the first place. You can be heartlessly cruel, manipulative, vengeful, yet the same person who brought me back from death's door. You sat by me for a year and you nursed me back to health. That's the better man I knew. That's the man that I know is still there underneath it all. Don't disappoint me. Leave Angie alone.
David: Do you know how many people I've been able to trust in my life? I can count all of them on one hand and still have fingers left over. But to hear you talk about your faith in me? Greenlee, I want to trust that. But after everything that I've done to you, after literally blackmailing you into staying with me, you can still see that, still see that better man in me.
Greenlee: All we need is a little time and a little trust, and we can get back to where we're supposed to be.
David: Do you really believe that?
Greenlee: Yes, I do. I have to.
Jesse: You know, for a minute there when you said David knew everything --
Angie: You thought I told him about our baby.
Angie: That's ours, Jesse, something beautiful and wonderful and full of life. I was not gonna let him spoil that.
Jesse: He couldn't possibly do that, even if he tried.
Angie: But it's gonna be tough, baby.
Jesse: It's ok. We've done tough before, right?
Angie: I know.
Jesse: Want to know something else?
Jesse: You were absolutely right about everything you said: Wonderful, beautiful. I can already see the baby's light in your eyes.
Greenlee: I won't lie to you. I hate what you've been doing to me.
David: Yet you're still willing to let it go?
Greenlee: End this vendetta against Angie. Let me see the man I thought I knew. Give me some hope, David. That's all I'm asking for.
David: Greenlee, I blackmailed you because it was the only way that I could keep you here.
Greenlee: Do you have any idea how hurtful that's been?
David: And I hated feeling compelled to do it. But it was the only way that I could keep you here long enough so that you could see just how amazing we really are together.
Greenlee: I've accepted my situation. I know why you're doing it.
David: But you've given me more hope, hope that you can do more than just accept your situation, that we could be more than this. I do so want you to believe in me again, Greenlee, to love me again. And if you could do that, I can be anything you want me to be.
[Knock on door]
Annie: Are we there yet?
Scott: Just about. Ok. Open your eyes.
Annie: Oh, my God.
Scott: Better, huh?
Annie: How did you do this so fast?
Scott: Oh, a couple of phone calls, a few favors. You like it?
Annie: No, Scott, I love it. It's beautiful. It's the perfect place to start our life together.
J.R.: Hey, hey.
Marissa: I'm sorry.
J.R.: I said no more apologies.
Marissa: I know, but --
J.R.: You're not perfect either, ok?
Marissa: But you don't understand.
J.R.: I understand this. I want this to work. I want us to work. Please, Marissa, come back to me, huh? Come back to me.
Marissa: No, I can't.
Marissa: Because you have to know something.
J.R.: I know everything that I need to.
Marissa: No, you don't. I slept with Scott.
