Greenlee: Hey, Ryan, it's me. When do you plan on leaving for Delaware to meet with the mechanic? Maybe we should talk to figure out what you're gonna say to him to get him to turn on David. [Quickly hangs up when David walks in]
Angie: The optical defect is becoming unaccommodating. Peripheral vision is shrinking. Episodes of blindness are longer and more frequent since the cessation of the antifungal meds. But on a more positive note, the sonogram was negative. No signs of chromosomal or congenital defects. No indication that there's any damage from the medication taken prior to the pregnancy. In other words, you're fantastic, peanut. Think Daddy will join us, or should we keep pretending he's not there?
Jesse: Can't get anything by you, huh?
Angie: Never could. Just wait until my senses sharpen.
Jesse: How long have you been doing this?
Angie: Since I first diagnosed myself. It started out as a medical report, but it's also really helped to get out how I'm feeling.
Jesse: It's a damn shame you've had to vent to a machine all this time. From now on, you talk to me.
Marissa: The compelled disclosure of personal medical information should be challenged as a violation of the privacy rights as deemed protected by the United States Constitution.
Caleb: Look at you.
Marissa: Yeah. Too bad I couldn't remember it the last time I took the bar.
Caleb: You had a lot on your mind.
Marissa: Most of which I unloaded on you.
Caleb: Well --
Marissa: You know, you helped me that day more than you know, and you're still helping me.
Caleb: I have to take the P.A. bar, too.
Marissa: Yeah, but you already know everything.
Caleb: Yeah, that's true. But I want to get this paperwork out of the way so I can get down to business.
Marissa: On taking Cortlandt back from J.R.?
Caleb: Let's be clear about something. If we are going to work together, you have to keep my confidence.
Marissa: If you're worried about, you know, J.R. trying to get me to give you up, don't be. We're not exactly together. We're not even living in the same house.
Caleb: You're better off.
Marissa: I don't know if I -- never mind. Next subject: Corporate law. Let's see how much I know about hostile takeovers.
J.R.: Hey, Marissa, it's me. Can you give me a call back, let me know that you're ok? I don't know why you left in the first place, and A.J. keeps asking when you're gonna be home. I have no idea what to tell him. So give me a call.
Annie's voice: Hello? Where is everybody? Hello? Scott? Where is everybody? Scott? Scott?!
Marissa: Scott's gone.
Annie: What do you mean, gone?
Marissa: He snuck out while you were sleeping. I guess he finally realized what a mistake he'd be making if he married you.
Annie: This can't be happening. Scott and I are happy.
Marissa: Poor Annie. You're always the bridesmaid. No. Actually, you are always the bride. Ha! That is, until the guy wises up and leaves your sorry ass.
Annie: Marissa, you don't even talk like that.
Marissa: Oh, well, somebody had to wake you up. Say adios, Scott. He'll join the pile in the husband scrap yard.
Annie: No, you're wrong. Scott wouldn't do that. Scott wouldn't leave. Scott? Come back! Scott?! Come back! Scott! Oh! [Wakes up]
Scott: Hey, I'm right here. It's ok. Bad dream?
Annie: Uh, I don't want to talk about it. I am going to make us some coffee and finish planning our elopement. I have so much to do and so much to think about. I haven't even called the florist yet, so I'm gonna get on that before the wedding comes.
Scott: You want something, J.R.?
J.R.: Uh-huh. You should cover up.
Annie: On second thought, I think I'm gonna take a shower.
J.R.: Caleb Cooney is mounting his assault against Chandler. He's filing for a motion to void the sale of Cortlandt. It won't be long until he files for a motion for us to open our books.
Scott: Yeah, well, our books are covered. Ok? There's no way that Caleb or anybody else will find out what we did.
J.R.: What we did? "We did"? You're the one that stole the nanotech plans from Palmer.
Scott: And I covered the Palmer connection to the patent in the Chandler records, and going overboard like this will only raise suspicions.
J.R.: I'm trying to save this company.
Scott: No, you're trying to avoid dealing with what's really bothering you.
J.R.: Oh, really? What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Scott: Marissa walked out, and you haven't stopped working since.
J.R.: And that's none of your damn business, is it?
Scott: Take a break. Call her.
J.R.: I have called her. She's not calling me back. I'm still trying to figure out why she left in the first place. But I bet you know something.
Caleb: I am starving, but I have to make a phone call first. Ok if I use the phone?
Krystal: When are you gonna get a cell phone, Caleb?
Caleb: Man has existed for thousands of years without having to talk on the phone while walking down the street. I think I'll manage, thank you.
Krystal: [Chuckles] You're doing good, huh?
Marissa: Yeah, yeah. I'm getting ready for the bar. Yeah. I mean, Caleb's, like, an amazing help. He's like the Rain Man of contract law.
Krystal: I tell you what, this job couldn't come at a more perfect time in your life.
Marissa: What, you mean because it keeps me away from J.R.?
Krystal: No. Because it reminds you that you're savvy and you're smart, and it also gives you what you wanted: independence, right? Something of your own.
Marissa: I miss him, Krystal. I don't know if I can just walk away from our marriage. I mean, I know, though, that it's broken, and I don't know if it can ever be fixed. I slept with Scott. How did I get here?
Krystal: Well, I think you know exactly how you got here. The question is which direction you go to get out.
Angie's voice: Patient is mid 40s, complains of sporadic episodes of dizziness, blurred vision, and bouts of disorientation.
Angie: Sounds like I'm talking about a patient. I guess it was the only way that I could deal with what was happening.
Jesse: Ahem. I can't stand that you had to deal with it all alone.
Angie: Well, I'm not alone anymore.
Jesse: No, you're not, and you never will be again.
Angie: Jesse, when you bought the frame for that sonogram picture, it's what I've been waiting for.
Jesse: I know.
Angie: Does it mean you're with me about the baby? I mean, that you're really with me?
Jesse: You know, that's a question a wife should never have to ask her husband.
Angie: But I do have to ask.
Jesse: One day at a time, baby, and I'm getting there. Right now, I want to talk about what's going on at the hospital.
Angie: If David finds out about my pregnancy or the infection before I can get the board to back Jake as my replacement --
Jesse: Well, listen. You leave that to me and Jake. You got enough going on.
Angie: I can't afford to sit back. As chief of staff, I have to lead the charge.
Jesse: You don't always have to lead, baby.
Angie: Oh, Jesse, this is the legacy that I leave my doctors, my patients, and maybe it'll be the last time I have to lead, but it's most important.
Jesse: To whom it may concern.
Angie: What are you doing?
Jesse: Dr. Angela Hubbard is the most incredible, beautiful, powerful woman to ever walk the planet -- and she's my wife.
Greenlee: Anything in there for me?
David: Why? You expecting something?
Greenlee: No. I just thought -- no.
Greenlee: Something wrong, David?
David: Just a frustrating morning, that's all.
Greenlee: Want to talk about it?
David: I'm supposed to meet with one of the hospital board members.
Greenlee: Bill Phillips, right?
David: Yeah. Yeah. He kept me waiting and then called at the last minute to cancel.
Greenlee: Did he say why?
David: No. I have no doubt it's because Angie got to him. The woman is on a mission to turn everyone against me, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let her do that.
Greenlee: Well, I could call a meeting with the board members. Once I have their undivided attention, I can remind them that you and I saved them from financial ruin.
David: So you would go against your own friend, Angie, to fight for me?
Greenlee: You're my partner and my husband. What?
David: I so want to believe you, Greenlee.
Greenlee: What's stopping you?
David: Who were you calling when I walked in before, and why did you hang up so suddenly?
Greenlee: You think I'm hiding something from you?
David: I don't want to think that.
Greenlee: Kendall. I was calling Kendall.
Greenlee: Yes. I saw this thing on the news about a baby tiger at the zoo, and I just had this impulse.
David: To tell Kendall about the tiger?
Greenlee: Yes. I wanted to see if she wanted to take Spike to the zoo.
David: Huh. You and Kendall at the zoo? So who would feed the other to the tiger first?
Greenlee: Call me crazy. I thought it would be, I don't know, fun. You wanted us to reconnect.
David: Why did you hang up so abruptly when I walked in?
Greenlee: She didn't pick up. Her voice mail came on, so I lost my nerve, so I hung up. It's the truth: Baby tiger, super cute, drinks from a bottle.
David: Hmm. I'm sure he is.
Greenlee: Check my call log. Go ahead.
David: It's all right. I'm glad you're reaching out to Kendall. I want you to have friends. I want you to be happy.
Greenlee: I miss her. Until that dinner, I didn't even let myself think about how much. You know, so much has happened and --
David: She was like a sister to you, right?
Greenlee: That's why what you did, helping us break the ice with that dinner, meant so much to me, and why I want to help you now. Because as much as you know how much Kendall means to me, I know how much the hospital means to you. You know, in the middle of all this blackmail, you asked me to trust you. If you won't even try to trust me, you might as well end this marriage now and turn me in to the police.
David: You know that's the last thing in the world I'd ever want to do. More than anything, I want to be with you, Greenlee, and for you to want to be with me.
Greenlee: Come on. Take me to breakfast. We can read the paper and eat Eggs Benedict like an old married couple. Then we can go check out the tiger at the zoo together if you want.
Scott: How would I know why Marissa left, J.R.?
J.R.: You two are friends, right? She confided in you. For all I know, you got in her ear and you convinced her, made her believe that I betrayed her with Annie.
Scott: Yeah? Why would I do that?
J.R.: Maybe you figured if you made things difficult enough for me and Marissa, I wouldn't come after you for the nanotech theft.
Scott: I wish I could help you.
J.R.: I bet.
J.R.: I'll be waiting for you downstairs.
Annie: What does he mean, downstairs? You can't meet with him right now. We're going to look at houses today.
Scott: I know. I know. We will. I promise.
Annie: Scott, we cannot start our marriage off on the right foot if we are living in this house, not with all the tension between you and J.R. and me and Marissa.
Scott: Who knows if Marissa will even come back?
Annie: You don't think she and J.R. will work things out?
Scott: I hope so.
Marissa: I came to see A.J.
J.R.: The Conways took him and Kevin to the park for the day.
J.R.: Wait. You know, we can't save our marriage if you keep running away. Don't you want to move past what happened?
Marissa: I'm just not sure if we can.
J.R.: Ok, you saw me and Annie together, and I know what you thought, but you also told me that you believed that nothing happened that night. Hey, we can get back what we had. We can do better.
Marissa: It's not that simple.
J.R.: You've had to be the strong one. When I was sick, when I let you down, you held the family together. Allow me to be the strong one. Let me show you what you've always shown me -- love and loyalty --
Marissa: Ok, stop, J.R.! Just stop, please? I just can't do this. [Runs into Scott as she leaves]
Caleb: Gone, huh?
Krystal: Yep. It was everything I could do not to try and stop her.
Caleb: She went back to him, huh?
Krystal: Well, I told her to do what she needed to do. I was really hoping that she would cut her losses this time.
Caleb: Yeah, she'll come around. She'll wake up. She already started to.
Krystal: Excuse me. Well, hello. How about a two-top for two of my favorite people.
Jesse: Hey. Actually, we're gonna order to go.
Krystal: Oh. Ok.
Jesse: All right?
Krystal: How you doing, babe?
Angie: Well, I can see your smiling face, but the day is young.
Krystal: You keep the faith. The clothes look great!
Angie: Yeah, they're perfect. I should be able to hide the pregnancy for a little while longer, anyway.
Krystal: Yeah, I just hate that you have to hide this wonderful news.
Angie: Yeah, well, I can't risk David finding out.
Krystal: You know, maybe there's some legal loophole that can oust that snake before you even have to deal with the board.
Angie: If you think of one, call me.
Krystal: I don't know that I can, but I just might know somebody who can help. Hang on. Caleb?
Krystal: Caleb, come here. I want you to meet a couple people. Please, come here. This is Angie and Jesse Hubbard. Meet Caleb Cooney.
Caleb: How you doing?
Jesse: Hey. Palmer's nephew. I've heard of you.
Caleb: Yeah, I'm sure you have.
Angie: I heard you rescued Erica Kane after her plane crashed.
Caleb: I just gave her some survival tips.
Krystal: Oh, come on, now. Don't be so humble. You are the reason that she is alive. And he's also a crackerjack attorney.
Caleb: Was, a long time ago.
Krystal: Oh, come on, now. No. Marissa says he's the Rain Man of law.
Caleb: What's a Rain Man?
Krystal: Oh, that's right. I guess you didn't get too many Tom Cruise movies up on the mountain.
Caleb: Tom Cruise?
Krystal: Caleb was a contract law bigwig, and I think he just might be the man that you need to drop-kick David right out of that hospital.
Caleb: Now, hold on a minute.
Krystal: No. Would you tell him how David's making life hell over there for the patients and the staff alike?
Jesse: Not to mention ruining the reputation of the entire hospital.
Angie: If something isn't done soon, the place will go under.
Caleb: Are we talking about the same guy that people say sabotaged Dorothy's plane?
Jesse: Not even gonna touch that one. But if you can help us get this guy out of there, we will all owe you big time.
Caleb: Has anybody in this town ever heard the words "not involved"?
Krystal: Nope. You're here, you're needed, get used to it. He'll help.
Scott: Hey, Marissa? What is going on with you, huh?
Marissa: I shouldn't have gone to the house. I don't know why I did. I didn't need to see J.R.
Scott: What happened back there? Tell me you didn't --
Marissa: No, I didn't tell him about us, ok? He did all the talking. He just kept going on and on about faithfulness, how I'm the strong one. He doesn't know that I'm a hypocrite and a worse liar than he is.
Scott: Ok, you need to forget about what happened between us.
Marissa: I tore J.R. apart for cheating on me, and then I turn around and do the exact same thing.
Scott: No, no, you didn't. We were angry. We were hurt. It didn't mean anything.
Marissa: That is not an excuse, Scott!
Scott: No, no, no, listen to me! Listen, huh? You were happy with J.R. once, ok, and you can be happy with him again. We can move on from this!
Marissa: So you're just gonna go ahead and marry Annie like nothing happened?
Scott: Because nothing did. That is what I am telling myself, because I love her, and you love J.R. I know you do.
Marissa: God, you sound so sure.
Scott: I am.
Marissa: Really? Then why haven't you married her yet? Why do you keep finding reasons to put it off? Maybe it's because you don't really believe that she's over J.R.
Scott: No, you are so wrong.
Marissa: Am I?
Scott: Yeah. I'll prove it.
Annie: Where's Scott?
J.R.: That's a good question.
Annie: Wasn't he meeting you down here?
J.R.: He never showed. Obviously he doesn't care whether or not his mistake destroys our company.
Annie: You are not the only person who cares about the future of Chandler, ok? It's Scott's future, too, and mine.
Annie: You know what? Maybe I'm just kidding myself.
J.R.: About marrying Scott?
Annie: About being able to be truly happy. Ohh, it's like my entire life anytime I've come really close to feeling true joy, I've had this nagging feeling that something was gonna take it away, and something usually did -- just like in my dream.
J.R.: What dream?
Annie: I had this dream that I was in here, and I was dressed for my wedding, and I was waiting for Scott, but Scott never showed. Marissa was there instead, and she told me that Scott woke up and realized that he didn't want me anymore.
J.R.: It wasn't real.
Annie: Wasn't it, though? It's like I've tried so hard to be good. I really have. I've denied myself of things that I really, really wanted so that I could prove myself to Scott, prove that I'm worthy of him. I'm just trying so hard to earn my slice of the happiness. But I know that there's a very good chance that Scott could wake up one day soon and realize that I am not what he wants -- just like Ryan did and Adam and -- ohh. And then he'll do what everybody always does and -- he'll walk away.
[J.R. hugs Annie]
Krystal: I cannot tell you the good that you've done just by agreeing to help Angie fight David.
Caleb: Isn't he the father of two of your kids?
Krystal: Don't remind me.
Caleb: What possessed you to get involved with him?
Krystal: You know what? That's a long story, and that's one that I don't really feel like telling today.
Caleb: Speak of the devil.
Krystal: Excuse me.
David: Well, I guess I don't have to ask if you have a table for two, huh?
Krystal: Sorry, can't really do that.
David: What are you talking about? The place is empty. Are you seriously refusing to serve me?
Krystal: Well, as owner, I have that right.
David: That's ridiculous. What have I done now?
Krystal: Would you like to see a list?
David: So you'll refuse me, but you'll let Grizzly Adams here stay as long as he wants?
Krystal: All right, now, don't start in on him.
David: I'm sorry, Krystal. Did I touch a nerve? What, is he your new boyfriend?
Krystal: You want to be escorted out of here?
David: Oh, come on. I mean, really, are you kidding me? I mean, Mountain Man cleans up pretty well, if you're desperate, you know?
Caleb: This lady asked you to leave.
David: Oh, here we go.
Caleb: No, here you go.
Greenlee: Enough. I'm sick and tired of everyone treating my husband like garbage. I've had enough and I'm not gonna take any more.
Caleb: Word has it that you're trying to destroy the hospital.
Greenlee: You know what? David took over the hospital because medicine is his life -- or it was until his enemies had his license revoked without cause.
Krystal: Oh, please. David's hardly the victim.
Greenlee: You know what? You're right. He's a hero. He saved my life when I was as good as dead. He did the same for Erica's daughter and a lot of others, and instead of crucifying him every chance they get, they should be on their knees thanking him. I can't stand the food here anyway.
David: You didn't have to do that.
Greenlee: I wasn't gonna stand here and let them attack you like that. And before you ask, yes, I meant every word.
J.R.: Scott's not gonna abandon you.
Annie: How can you be sure?
J.R.: Because I've tried to walk away. It's damn hard. You have your faults, God knows. But there's just something about you, Annie, something that's worth fighting for.
Annie: Scott? Hi! I'm so glad you came back!
Scott: I wasn't gone that long, was I?
Annie: No. I just got scared. I thought -- never mind. Nothing.
Scott: Look at me. I am not leaving you. Not now, not ever. In fact, I have a proposal.
Scott: I want to get married as soon as possible.
Annie: You're being serious?
Scott: Yes. I don't want to wait. In fact, I can call Judge Patney right now over today, if you want.
Annie: Yes! It's like you read my mind!
Angie: I got to tell you, taking me out to breakfast ain't what it used to be.
Jesse: Such a beautiful morning. I wanted to get you out and see the gardens. A little late for your daffodils, but check those out. Them sunflowers, baby. I didn't know they got that tall. That's amazing, huh?
Angie: So that's why you brought me here. You did it because this time next year I might not be able to see them. Thank you, baby.
Jesse: I didn't do anything, baby. I wish I could. I wish I could go through this whole ordeal for you.
Angie: I wouldn't want you to.
Jesse: I don't know if I'd be as brave or as strong as you are.
Angie: Oh, Jesse, this isn't about bravery. I am scared out of my mind.
Jesse: You never said that to me before.
Angie: I know. I didn't want to. This is about faith, though, you know? Because I am so sure that there is a reason for all of this, and everything that I've done up until now has brought me to a point where I know somehow it's all gonna be ok. But I am not the only person who's been given a blessing and a trial at the same time.
Jesse: How can you be so sure that there's a reason?
Angie: I have to believe it. Jesse, I go to the hospital every day. I see people suffering. I see children die. I have to believe there's a purpose. And I'm lucky because I already know that with pain, there comes great joy. You've shown me that. We were lost to each other for such a long time and, oh, my God, that pain was almost too much to take. Yet here we are. And I will never forget the joy that I felt on that train platform the first time I saw your face after all those years. All of a sudden, none of the pain mattered. And now I'm carrying your child. And in this moment, I feel that same joy, and nothing is more important than that. Nothing.
David: I remember the first time you defended me -- to your father. You were so fierce, so determined, and I couldn't help but think how lucky I am to have a woman like you on my side, to have you fighting my battles on my side.
Singer: When will she find someone worth her time?
Greenlee: To us.
Singer: She can't understand what will she do? She's heartbroken
David: What is it?
Greenlee: I'm late. I have a meeting at Fusion. So, see you at home tonight?
David: Yeah. [Kisses Greenlee on the cheek]
Singer: Little girl blue had some time on her hands she had to be strong until she made amends a little boy I knew said it was all a lie but he didn't know --
Jesse: Beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady.
Angie: Oh, matches my dress.
Jesse: Hey, I'm an expert.
Jesse: I swear, sometimes when you kiss me, I'm 16 all over again.
Angie: Me, too.
Jesse: Except the good thing about being older, I don't have to deal with your daddy trying to be with you.
[Ice cream truck plays tune]
Jesse: Whoa. Is that that same ice cream truck that used to be outside the school before the bell rang?
Angie: Uh-huh. Same one that you used to act like you were too cool to care about.
Jesse: Yeah, well, you saw right through that, didn't you? You always brought me ice cream anyway.
Angie: Well, you know, I couldn't let your coolness make you suffer.
Jesse: Want some ice cream for dessert?
Jesse: Hold on. Ok -- oh, hold that truck!
Angie: Hurry back. [As her vision goes, Angie drops the flowers]
Scott: I'm gonna call Judge Patney right now, see if he's available.
Scott: Ok. We were gonna go over the nanotech plans together. I --
J.R.: Sounds like you're busy. Congrats.
J.R.: So you're really gonna do this?
Annie: I am. Which means for us, this is good-bye.
Krystal: You sure Marissa's gonna back here, huh?
Caleb: I gave her a key, told her she could come back here if she wanted to work in private. Anybody home?
Krystal: She's probably still with J.R.
Caleb: Well, she'll be back. I have faith in her.
Krystal: Thank you for that. And thank you for helping Marissa feel good about herself again.
Caleb: Well, she's a good kid. She deserves a break.
Krystal: Yeah. And so does Angie. You have no idea what it means that you're helping her fight David.
Caleb: Who you gonna sign me up to help next? Orphans? Widows?
Krystal: Why do you do that?
Krystal: Why do you pretend not to give a damn about anybody else when you probably care more than most?
Annie: Scott and I are planning on moving out of the house after the wedding.
Annie: We haven't found anything yet, but the sooner the better.
Annie: I'm gonna go finish getting ready.
J.R.: Hey, uh, it sounds like you're getting everything you want.
Annie: I am.
J.R.: Yeah. [Takes her arm]
Annie: J.R., please?
J.R.: I just want to give the bride-to-be my best. [Kisses Annie on the cheek]
[Knock on door]
Greenlee: Ryan? [Gets the key and opens the door] What am I doing?
[Music plays as Greenlee walks around the condo, then flips through an old photo album]
Singer: Walking through the world alone time standing still a glimpse of joy is shining from inside an open heart so wise and warm embracing what she has found she needs to know she's safe in someone's arms
Angie: Oh, honey, I can't find my flower. Huh. Baby? Is that -- is that you?
David: Why, Angela, I didn't think you cared. What is wrong with your eyes?
