Tad: What the hell is this?
Liza: Ok, Tad, that --
Tad: And what is it doing on your phone?
Damon: Good luck explaining this one.
Tad: Where do you think you're going?
Damon: I'm gonna find Colby.
Tad: No, you're not. You're gonna stay right here. She wants to be alone. She needs to talk to her father. She doesn't need your help for that, and I need some answers.
Liza: Tad, I can only imagine what you are thinking right now.
Tad: No, what I'm thinking is I want the truth from both of you. Now, Liza told me you kissed her. You've already admitted it.
Liza: That's because he did.
Tad: Wait just a sec. Now you're telling me that before that happened, that she set you up, intentionally to upset Colby, because it would cause trouble between the two of you?
Tad: Damon, is there something you want to add to that?
Damon: He deserves the truth, you know.
Liza: And that is why I'm gonna give it to him.
Madison: I just got my hours at Fusion changed so I can spend more time with Emma while you're indisposed.
Ryan: Thank you.
Madison: You're welcome.
[Knock on door]
Bianca: You up for another visitor?
Ryan: Yeah. If it's you, absolutely.
Bianca: I have something for you.
Ryan: You do? Let's see. Wow. You're getting really good.
Bianca: Ha-ha! Leave it to you to make a joke a day after brain surgery. It's from Miranda.
Ryan: I love it. I do. I love it.
Bianca: Well, she takes her artwork very seriously.
Madison: Just like Emma. We could start a gallery over here. We have Bianca to thank for my new flexible hours. I'm not so sure Greenlee would've been so accommodating.
Ryan: I don't know. Greenlee seems a little bit different these days.
David: You want time apart?
David: What does that mean, exactly?
Greenlee: I think I need some space.
David: You "think"?
Greenlee: I need some space.
David: For how long?
Greenlee: Honestly, I don't know.
David: So this is open-ended?
Greenlee: Can we just do this without putting a timeframe on it?
David: I'm still trying to figure out what "this" is.
Greenlee: So much has happened. I just think that we both need some time to think about --
David: Greenlee. Do you want out of this marriage?
Greenlee: I just want to be honest with you, and I want you to hear me out before you say anything.
David: [Sighs and sits down]
Greenlee: You know, if anyone but you had found me in that river, I never would've survived, and I'm not just saying that because you're a brilliant doctor and no one else could've kept me alive. I'm saying that -- ohh -- because of when I woke up and I realized a whole year had vanished, and I had no use my legs, and all the betrayals. You know, I never gave up. You gave me the strength and the courage to keep going, and I did. With you by my side the whole way. No one understood the hurt and the anger and the betrayal that I felt except you.
David: Greenlee --
Greenlee: Then you helped me get my company back. You married me knowing that I can never give you children, knowing that I might never return your feelings. You gave all of that to me -- that kind of love so unconditional. You have no idea how much I needed that.
David: So you don't need it anymore?
Greenlee: You gave me your heart. You gave me things that I didn't even know that you could give, and for that I will forever be grateful.
David: Ok. So now that we've established how amazing I am, why don't you tell me why you suddenly need space? Never mind. I already know.
Madison: Unlike this camel over here, I could use a drink of water. Would you like anything?
Bianca: I'm fine, and thanks.
Madison: Last chance.
Ryan: No. I am --
Madison: You're fine. Yes, I know. I know.
Ryan: I am a camel, apparently. What?
Bianca: Nothing. I just approve, that's all.
Ryan: Of Madison? Well, that's funny because I don't remember asking you your opinion -- ha ha -- but I'll take it. I'll always take it.
Bianca: You scared the hell out of me, you know that? I'm so relieved that you're ok.
Ryan: Thanks. it's so funny how things change, right? I mean, it doesn't seem that long ago that we were all getting married together. I was convinced I was gonna spend the rest of my life with Greenlee. But, hey, at least you got your happy ending. Things are ok with Reese, right?
Bianca: I was just thinking about that day, our wedding day. I guess things didn't turn out exactly as we planned, huh?
Ryan: No. I'm glad you're back.
Bianca: Yeah, Paris is, um, Paris. But Pine Valley is my home. And now I just have to wait for Mom and Kendall to get back.
Ryan: And Reese.
Bianca: Oh. Now, how could I forget Reese?
Frankie: Bailing on me already?
Madison: I'm not bailing on you. I'm just gonna be spending some time at Ryan's. He needs the help, you know, taking care of Emma.
Frankie: So this has nothing to do with you taking care of Ryan?
Madison: Ok, maybe a little bit of that, too.
Frankie: Yeah, I thought so. He's lucky to have you.
Madison: Just think, you'll have the apartment back. You'll even have some time to yourself while Randi's away. You can walk around naked and chug milk from the carton.
Frankie: Oh, yeah. That's just what I've been waiting to do: Walk around naked chugging milk from a carton. It's every man's dream.
Madison: Watch "Sportscenter" all night?
Frankie: Now you're getting closer. That's it. You know, I am gonna miss your coffee.
Frankie: Yeah. The way you brew the coffee in that old pot, it's better than the $5.00 fancy kind.
Madison: Oh? Well, how's this -- I will teach Randi how to do that when she gets home. Deal?
Madison: All right.
Frankie: Oh, and you will teach her how to froth the milk, too, right?
Madison: The works.
Frankie: The works.
Liza: Ok. So the night that I supposedly hit on Damon --
Liza: I was really drunk, and I ran into Damon, and he offered to drive me home.
Damon: I can't believe you're doing this.
Liza: So he takes me to my place, and he takes me upstairs, and -- Now, mind you, I'm completely out of it. I don't know what is going on. I take myself to the bathroom to start to get undressed. I assumed that he was gonna leave. He was still there. And that's when he started to say really inappropriate things.
Liza: That's when he took those pictures. I don't know why he took those pictures.
Damon: You know exactly why.
Liza: Oh, maybe he wanted to show his friends, right? The whole Mrs. Robinson thing?
Damon: Who -- me -- who? You -- are you kidding? Please don't tell me you're believing this crap.
Liza: It's not crap. It's the truth.
Damon: She's lying.
Liza: Really? Why do you think I've been so uncomfortable to be around him. Why you see I never wanted to be alone with him.
Damon: Because you knew what I had on you.
Liza: Or maybe it's because you crossed the line, and I was afraid that you were gonna do it again -- just like you did when you kissed me.
Damon: So, what? Is this the part where you pick me out?
Tad: No. No. This is the part where you get real, and I mean real. I don't care if it hurts.
Greenlee: This isn't about Ryan. It's about us.
David: All right. You know, I'm sorry. I find it a little hard to believe considering it comes on the heels of Ryan's near-death experience.
Greenlee: I've been thinking about this for a while now.
David: You've been thinking about taking a break?
David: How long?
Greenlee: This is coming out all wrong. I just -- things have never been easy for us.
David: Since when do you ever back down from a fight?
Greenlee: Since I'm tired, I guess, and since the last person that I want to be fighting is you. You love so fiercely.
David: So fiercely I suffocate you.
Greenlee: No. But you deserve that same kind of devotion, David. You honestly think this marriage is working?
David: In its own way, yes, I do.
Greenlee: "In its own way"? David, what way is that? When we lie to each other all the time?
David: If you're talking about Erica's plane crash --
Greenlee: I'm talking about everything. I'm talking about Rio. I'm talking about my pregnancy scare, your crazy plan with Madison North.
David: I already explained that to you.
Greenlee: The crash, the SEC investigation, when I went to New York, when you drugged Bianca -- the list goes on and on, David. We're always hiding something from each other. All in the name of protecting the other person. I just -- I don't think that's the way it's supposed to work, do you?
David: Every relationship is different, Greenlee. We're two incredibly strong, independent people.
Greenlee: God, that's no excuse. You'll always be a part of my life. We're connected that way. Right now I just -- I need some time alone to figure things out. And I can't do that here with you.
David: I understand. Did you think I'd give you a different response?
Greenlee: I don't know. Yes.
David: I promised you freedom in this marriage, Greenlee, and I'm not gonna renege on that promise now.
Greenlee: Thank you.
David: [Sighs] I do have one request, however -- one final dinner before you go, so we can toast on what we've meant to each other.
Greenlee: What we'll always mean to each other, and I'd love to.
David: Good. And who knows? Maybe it'll open your eyes to see how much you miss me.
Greenlee: You're really something, you know that?
David: Why don't you tell me all about it over dinner, ok?
Bianca: You know what you said before about Greenlee being in a different place?
Bianca: I've seen that, too. Or, at least I hope I have.
Ryan: Little flashes of the old Greenlee.
Ryan: Who know? Maybe this wasn't all bad. Well, near-death experiences don't only change the people they happen to.
Bianca: They change the people around them?
Ryan: Either way, I'm not worried.
Bianca: Why is that?
Ryan: Because if anybody can bring back the old Greenlee, the better Greenlee, it's you.
Bianca: See, and my money would have been on the aneurysm guy.
Ryan: [Laughs and winces in pain]
Bianca: Oh --
Madison: Just in case you change your mind.
Ryan: Have you met Nurse Madison?
Bianca: I am glad she's here to take care of you.
Bianca: I'm gonna go. I'll check on you later. And don't even try and tell me not to come. I'll be here. Bye, Nurse Madison.
Colby: Hi, Daddy. Um. I'm sorry I hung up on you like that. I just really wanted to see you, but I understand it wasn't your fault you couldn't make it. Um, hey, could you send the plane for me when the timing works? There's actually something really good in my life -- or, I should say "someone." Damon. I wanted to tell you this in person, but I just can't wait. Dad, Damon and I are in love.
Damon: You would do anything to make me look bad, huh? Colby's not around, so you just cume down in front of Tad, right?
Tad: Damon! Stop it. Don't make things worse. Just tell me what happened.
Damon: She wasn't even drunk that night.
Liza: Oh, please.
Tad: No, no, no. Just a sec. Let him talk.
Damon: She faked the whole thing to get me to drive her back to her place.
Tad: And you did?
Damon: Yeah, I did. And then she did this whole act about she couldn't get out of her dress. She needed help with her zipper.
Tad: So you volunteered?
Damon: I helped her zip. That was it. The plan was to have Colby walk in on us and dump me on the spot. She was ready to take it as far as she had to.
Liza: Ok, you see this? This is absolutely crazy. I would never break my daughter's heart like that.
Damon: What "like that"? You mean like the way that your mom broke yours? You know, it actually makes perfect sense, considering your whole wacked out mommy deal.
Tad: You told him about that?
Damon: She gave me the whole story -- how you slept with her mom and blew her world apart.
Liza: Ok, Tad, that just slipped out, but that is not the issue here.
Damon: Liza was ready to do to Colby exactly like what you and her mom did to her just to break us up. It's pretty sick when you think about it.
Liza: I love my daughter more than life itself. I would never do that to my daughter, and you know that, and you know me. I mean, please, look at all that Damon has done. Tad, I know that you wanted to think that he was getting better. He was just able to hide it -- for a little while, at least. You know you've been screwing up all over the place lately, right?
Damon: Get out of my face.
Tad: Shut up, both of you. Just give me a minute. One of you is lying, and I want to figure out who.
Liza: And who has a history of lying here?
Damon: That's right, Baby Mama. Oh, that's right, you weren't actually pregnant that whole time.
Liza: This is what I'm talking about. Exactly what I'm talking about. He's acting the same way he did before he was even on those meds.
Tad: Please, tell me you did not stop taking your meds.
Damon: You did not really just ask me that?
Tad: It's just a simple question -- yes or no?
Damon: Yes, I'm taking my meds, ok? Want me to pee in a cup?
Tad: If what you're telling me is true, then why didn't you say something? If she was there and you were there, why wouldn't you come to me and admit it the night that it happened?
Damon: Because you're so into her. I didn't want --
Tad: Try again!
Tad: There's got to be more to it than that. What is it?
Damon: Since I had those pictures -- which I took for proof, by the way, not because have some thing for moms -- I figured I could use them to get Liza to back off. It didn't work too well, obviously. Whatever. I'm out of here.
Tad: Where are you going?
Damon: I'm going to find Colby. She's got to be off the phone by now.
Tad: You're walking out. You're taking off like you always do.
Damon: There's no point sticking around here, man! It's pretty obvious whose side you're on! Don't! Don't! If I hear one more word about you're my dad and you'll be on my side no matter what -- stop! You're no better than Paul.
Bianca: So how was the advertisers' convention?
Greenlee: What? Oh, pretty pointless, actually.
Bianca: You ok?
Greenlee: I just got a lot going on right now.
Bianca: If you're worried about Ryan --
Greenlee: That's not what it's about.
Bianca: I just saw him.
Greenlee: You did? How is he?
Bianca: He's much better -- even cracking some jokes.
Greenlee: Of course, he is. Argh!
Bianca: What? Oh, let me see. Reese always tells me I have a magic touch with these things. Voilá.
Greenlee: Huh. Thanks.
Bianca: Apartment rental? You and David are moving out of the yacht club?
Greenlee: It's more of a solo mission. I'm looking for an apartment, alone.
Bianca: So you and David --
Greenlee: We're taking a breather.
Bianca: So how did David take it?
Greenlee: Ha ha ha ha! I was wondering how long the silence would last.
Bianca: I'm sorry. It's just you moving out is a huge deal. I'm assuming it was your idea? And with someone like David -- I just -- I know how he can be.
Greenlee: That's diplomatic.
Bianca: So did he go ballistic?
Greenlee: No, actually.
Greenlee: That was my reaction, too, but he was incredibly understanding.
Greenlee: Yeah, I was afraid I was gonna hurt him, but he seemed to be ok.
Bianca: Well, that's good.
Greenlee: Yeah. I mean, it's not really a surprise. It was part of our deal from the beginning?
Bianca: Your deal?
Greenlee: When we first got together we made a promise: If one of us ever wanted out of the relationship, we were free to leave.
Bianca: How romantic. Did you guys put that in your vows?
Greenlee: I know how it sound, but David and I have a very special relationship. It's different. We love each other. We do, but the most important thing with us is respect. I was hoping he would remember that today, and he did.
Ryan: I hear I owe you a thank you. If you hadn't been in the park, then --
David: You'd be dead, and it wouldn't have taken long.
Ryan: That's it? You're not gonna rub it in my face?
David: I just did what I was trained to do, Ryan.
Ryan: Huh. Whether you wanted to or not, that's a whole other story, isn't it?
David: I'll let Greenlee know that you're feeling much better.
Colby: Hey. I'm sorry I ran out like that. I just needed to reach my dad.
Damon: I get it. It's fine.
Colby: And my mom -- I can't even deal with her anymore. She's completely insane.
Damon: Did you talk to Adam?
Colby: Voice mail. But at least I got to apologize, right?
Damon: He'll understand.
Colby: Yeah, I hope so. I mean, he kind of has to: He's my dad.
Colby: Hey, are you ok?
Damon: Yeah, yeah, I'm cool.
Colby: So do I even want to know what happened in there?
Damon: No, you don't.
Colby: You know what? You are right. Let's not talk about them. Let's not talk about my mom, Tad, my dad, or anyone else. Let's just talk about us. Things were pretty perfect before they barged in, huh? [Giggles]
Damon: Yeah. Yeah, they were.
Tad: I don't know I let him do that.
Liza: Oh, Tad, honey, he's not in the place that he can hear you.
Tad: Hear me? Why should he hear me? I don't know what I'd say, you know? I don't know what the hell's going on.
Liza: Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I know he's your son, you want to think the best of him. I just wish he wouldn't make it so damn hard on you. Oh, look at your face right now. Oh, sweetheart -- you see, this is the reason why I tried to keep this insanity from you. I couldn't bear the thought of you being hurt.
Tad: I honestly don't know what I am.
Liza: I know. I know. I know this is a lot. But I'm telling you that it's gonna be ok, all right? We are going to be ok. You know, that night that you showed up on my doorstep, and you said that you wanted to give it another try -- God, I was so excited. I couldn't bear the thought of ruining that.
Tad: That's when it happened? Oh, God, no. Not the night before Jake and Amanda's wedding. The night I showed up at your place -- Damon was there the night I came to your apartment?
Liza: Yes. Yes.
Tad: Of course. Now it makes sense. That's why you were so uncomfortable. That's why you kept pushing me for the door. I mean, I thought it was because I was loaded, you know, because I had a few.
Liza: "A few"? Honey, really?
Tad: I remember that. And you know what else I remember?
Liza: Ok, really, rehashing this is not gonna make this any easier on you.
Tad: I remember you acting decidedly not drunk.
Tad: Well -- but it just -- it made an impression. I mean, there I am acting like an idiot, pouring my heart out, being a slob, and then you're stone-cold sober.
Liza: Sober? Me, hardly sober.
Tad: Well, if you had a couple, you certainly didn't show it.
Liza: Ok, don't take this the wrong way, but anyone would look sober compared to you. And besides, Damon's past -- that cleared up my head pretty quickly.
Tad: So Damon heard my whole spiel, the whole thing? And you didn't say anything?
Liza: What, and I'm gonna ruin the moment? Please. Honey, you showed up on my doorstep. That was like -- that was like something out of a movie. I wanted to say something. I did. I just couldn't. Oh, Tad, you are such a good man. You are so honest and so caring and giving and -- but sometimes you just forget to take care of yourself.
Tad: So you were doing it for me?
Liza: I was trying to. I'm sorry if I made a mistake. The last thing I wanted to do was disappoint you.
David: Wow. You didn't have to get dressed up.
Greenlee: Huh, have you met me? Of course, I did. Your timing is impeccable.
David: Need a lift?
Greenlee: Mm-hmm, please.
David: There you go.
Greenlee: So, proper last-supper attire?
David: You look amazing.
Greenlee: Kidding, by the way. I hope there are many more dinners in our future.
David: Me, too. Well, I guess I better get dressed up. I want to make sure I'm suitable arm candy for my date.
Greenlee: Oh, please. You always look great.
David: Thank you. But tonight is -- it's very important for both of us. I want to make sure that I treat it as such.
Ryan: Thank you for this. I didn't realize how hungry I was.
Madison: Mm-hmm. So you're gonna stop making all those nurse jokes now?
Ryan: Ha. We'll see.
Madison: Well, can I get you anything else? Do you need more gelatin or crackers maybe or --
Ryan: No. I'm good, but my pillow could use a little bit more fluffing.
Madison: You're kidding.
Ryan: Yes, I'm kidding.
Ryan: But you know what I really could use? You dress up in a little nurse's outfit -- that would be really helpful, actually.
Madison: You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna go to the gift shop. I'm not even gonna ask you if you want anything.
Ryan: I'll take a pack of gum, please.
Madison: Sorry. Can't hear you.
Ryan: Some magazines? Something! Ow.
Bianca: I'm back.
Ryan: Hey. That was fast. How was work?
Bianca: Oh, it was fun. Nothing exciting going on.
Ryan: Hmm. Was Greenlee there?
Ryan: Can I ask you something?
Ryan: How did she seem?
Bianca: Greenlee? Why?
Ryan: I don't know. David was just here.
Ryan: He seemed, um, off, and I just get really nervous whenever I see him like that.
Bianca: I thought you were done being nervous about Greenlee.
Ryan: Well, I am. It's not like that. It's just you throw David in the mix --
Bianca: What if he's not in the mix?
Ryan: What does that mean?
Bianca: I probably shouldn't be telling you this because it's absolutely none of my business.
Bianca: Greenlee was looking at real estate when I saw her -- for herself. It sounded like David and Greenlee are over.
David: I'm really glad we're doing this.
Greenlee: I can't thank you enough for being so supportive.
David: I've been going over everything you said. You know, just kind of going over everything in my head.
David: Mm-hmm. When I saved you last year, Greenlee, I didn't realize it at the time, but I also saved myself. Helping you was one of the best things I've ever done in my life.
Greenlee: If I haven't said "thank you" enough --
David: No, no, no, you have. But now it's my turn to thank you. You showed me what it means to really love, to really, really love. You showed me what it means to put someone else's needs entirely above my own. I've never done that before, not like that.
Greenlee: It turns out you're very good at it.
David: I am, aren't I?
Greenlee: That's what I said.
David: There's nothing I wouldn't do for you, Greenlee. This marriage means everything to me. And without it -- I don't want to go back to who I was.
Greenlee: Then don't.
David: That's not up to me. You do see that, don't you? It's up to you. And this choice that you're making, I'm afraid it's a bad one, so I'm hoping you'll reconsider.
Liza: I know you don't know what to think. I don't blame you.
Tad: Hmm. I know what to think.
Liza: He's just lost. I don't know. He's not hopeless, but --
Tad: Yeah, I know, but he's got issues.
Liza: Huh. He's a bucketful. Lord knows he's certainly turned lying into an art form. But you? You put him to shame.
Tad: I forgot how good you were at it.
Liza: I'm sorry. Good at what?
Tad: Bending the truth. Then again, I don't know why I'm surprised. I mean, you've been doing it since you were a teenager.
Liza: Are you telling me that you don't believe me?
Tad: That's exactly what I'm telling you. I'm telling you that I think for once, my son told the truth, and you stood there and you lied through your teeth just so you could set him up.
Colby: I asked him to send a plane so I could go visit him and Brooke.
Damon: Where are they, anyway?
Colby: They are in San Francisco. You ever been?
Colby: No? Oh, you would totally love it.
Colby: Come with me.
Damon: What, to California?
Colby: Yeah! Yeah! You and my dad -- you could get to know one another. It would be like a mini vacation. Ok. Or not.
Damon: I'm in.
Damon: Yeah, on one condition: We leave and we don't come back.
Ryan: David is ok with this?
Ryan: He's just gonna let Greenlee go?
Bianca: I know. It's not exactly David's style, but Greenlee seemed pretty convinced.
Bianca: I think it's because of you.
Ryan: Because of me?
Bianca: It's just like you said. Collapsing the way that you did, getting so close to -- I think you really shook Greenlee up. It changed her priorities -- not that she'd ever admit it, especially not to me.
David: I have something for you.
Greenlee: You got me a gift?
Greenlee: Ohh. David, it's beautiful.
David: Take a look inside.
Greenlee: This is for me, too?
Greenlee: But I already have a phone.
David: Yeah, about that -- you do realize that the NTSB is still investigating Erica's plane crash, right?
David: Well, the huge missing piece is obviously the mechanic --
Greenlee: Your mechanic.
David: Who sabotaged Erica's plane.
David: So if they find him, they're sure to confiscate his phone, look at his phone records, see what calls he made and received.
Greenlee: I don't -- what does this have to do with me?
David: Unfortunately, a lot. You see, the NTSB will discover that multiple calls were made to the mechanic -- from your old cell phone.
Greenlee: But I never -- oh, my God.
David: And if I bring the mechanic in --
Greenlee: Your mechanic.
David: He will testify under oath that he was hired by you. In addition to that, the NTSB will also find a large sum of account was wired from your account to pay him. So, you see, that coupled with the documentation I have proving that you cooked Fusion's books -- Well, the case doesn't look that good for you, now, does it?
Greenlee: I can't -- you would actually hold this over my head? You'd blackmail me to stay with you?
David: I guess that's one way to look at it.
Greenlee: How else am I supposed to look at it, David?
David: As a husband who's trying to hold on to his wife, because that's all I'm doing here, Greenlee. I love you.
Greenlee: This isn't love.
David: It is my job to protect you.
Greenlee: "Protect me"?
David: That's right. Like it or not, you need me, Greenlee, just like I need you, and I am prepared to do whatever it takes to make you realize that.
