Colby: Ok, tell me something. Why are you and Annie going to D.C. alone?
J.R.: Because the congressional subcommittee won't come to Pine Valley to hear us.
Colby: Ok, but isn't it too soon for you to be traveling?
J.R.: As long as I follow my list of precautions, the doctors are giving me the green light. And besides, increasing awareness for bone marrow donation is a good cause.
Colby: Right. And as an added bonus, you could leave Annie stranded at the side of the road.
J.R.: Now, would that be fair for all those political sharks in Washington?
Colby: Come on, J.R. Tell me something. Does your master plan include you getting Annie into bed?
Annie: Has either of you seen your father this morning?
Colby: No. No. I'm surprised you didn't put a tracking device on him yet.
J.R.: No, we haven't seen him. I assume he got an early start.
Annie: I don't think he came home last night.
Adam: Oh. Ahem. Ahem. How are you?
Brooke: Hurts a little bit, but then the doctor said that was to be expected after surgery.
Adam: Anything I can get for you?
Brooke: Were you here all night?
Adam: Oh, no. No, no, no, no. I came in early this morning. You were asleep, and I just curled up in the chair and dozed off.
Brooke: Liar. You should at least try changing your clothes next time.
Adam: Ok, ok. I was worried about you. I didn't want to just let it go.
Brooke: I'm glad you're here.
Adam: So am I.
Brooke: We need to talk about the things you said to me in the park.
Ryan: Hey. I kind of figured you'd be at the hospital.
Tad: Yeah, I'll swing by. I wanted to clock a few hours before I head over.
Ryan: Well, I appreciate the dedication, but I know you got to be worried about Damon and Brooke. I mean, how are they doing?
Tad: Well, they came through surgery all right, thank God.
Ryan: That's fantastic. That's a relief.
Tad: Well, sort of. I got to tell you, the whole thing's a mess. Damon's pretty torn up about it.
Ryan: Just try to be there for him, man. That's all you can do, you know?
Tad: Hopefully, it'll be enough. I also came in because I wondered if you had a chance to see this.
Liza: Yeah, Greenlee, it's Liza. Would you please call me back when you get this? I should not have told you that there was another person involved in the accident. It's just that I'm trying to represent David. So call me back? Thank you. They're waiting for you.
David: I was just enjoying the luxurious county shower.
David: So what's going on with my plea bargain?
Liza: The D.A. would not agree to one.
David: What are you talking about, he won't agree to one?
Liza: And we're going to trial tomorrow.
[Elevator doors close]
Greenlee: Oh, damn it.
Natalia: Greenlee? You wanted to see me about the photo shoot?
Greenlee: Oh. Right, the shoot.
Natalia: Well, if now's not a good time, I can come back.
Greenlee: No, now's the perfect time. I need your help, but not as a model, as a cop.
Annie: I woke up early to drop Emma off at Kathy's, and I assumed Adam was still sleeping in his room, but I saw later that his bed had not been slept in. He spent the night with Brooke.
Colby: Well, they're not at some seedy hotel, Annie, they're at the hospital.
Annie: Why didn't he just tell me?
Colby: Because my dad's world, it doesn't revolve around you.
J.R.: Because my dad didn't want to upset you.
Annie: When he doesn't tell me things, that upsets me. What was I supposed to think?
J.R.: Brooke just had surgery. My dad wanted to make sure that she made it through the night ok. He's concerned for an old friend, Annie.
Annie: Yes. Just an old friend.
J.R.: But I do have some good news. I just got the all-clear from Dr. Kahn to go on our D.C. trip. I've arranged a limo. We can leave as soon as we're packed.
Annie: I don't think this is a good time for me to take this trip.
J.R.: My dad would want you to go.
Annie: No, I'm sorry. I'm gonna go check on Adam at the hospital.
J.R.: Annie, the subcommittee's expecting you.
Colby: You better hope she says no, because this is the worst idea you have ever had.
Adam: It was foolish of me to bring it up last night, especially after the accident.
Brooke: Adam, stop. We have to put things right between us. I mean, I know that I have been very concerned about your health and that you've gotten used to depending on me.
Adam: As I would with any friend.
Brooke: You know that we're more than just friends. Anyway, just the two of us spending all this time together, it's -- it's brought up the past and memories and about what we used to have.
Adam: It's hardly my fault. Out of all the ex-wives I have, you're the only one I can tolerate.
Brooke: You're married, Adam. And these feelings are just nostalgia, nothing more.
Adam: Of course.
Adam: Hmm. Somebody brought you a note.
Brooke: Oh. It's from the young man that crashed his car into me.
Adam: That Miller kid? What does he want?
Brooke: He wants to meet me.
Krystal: Sugar, what are you doing up?
Marissa: I'm just getting something to eat.
Krystal: Honey, all you had to do was call. I would've gotten anything you needed.
Marissa: I'm feeling better. Really.
Krystal: Listen, you heard the doctor. With H1N1, you've got to get your rest.
Marissa: I know, but I only have a mild case. And besides, I spent all yesterday resting. I can't spend another day in bed.
Krystal: Honey, I know you might feel better, but you really don't look better.
Marissa: Well, don't take this the wrong way, ok? I love you and Tad for putting me up, but I have to be away from my own family. So can you blame me if I don't look better?
Krystal: Is there anything I can do?
Marissa: No. I'm fine. I'm just gonna go make some food and try to eat something that doesn't make me feel nauseas.
Krystal: Hmm. Ohh.
Ryan: So Liza got the court date moved up. She must be feeling very confident about the case.
Tad: Or she's screwing with the D.A.
Ryan: She is aggressive, I'll give her that much.
Tad: Yeah, that's one way of describing Liza, all right. You're going, aren't you?
Ryan: No, I'm not gonna go. I'm gonna sit this one out.
Tad: What are you talking about? You're one of the people that's instrumental in making sure that Hayward stands trial in the first place. I'd think that you, of all people, would want a front-row seat.
Ryan: No, I did my part. I did it. Now I got other things I got to worry about. I got the casino. I got Cambias. It's backing up. I want to see the kids. I want to spend more time with them. You know, I got to take a trip to see Spike -- lots of stuff.
Tad: Yeah. There's you and Greenlee.
Ryan: Well, you know, I explained to her why I went after Hayward, but in her mind, it's her and David against the world. So there's not much I can do. And she's told me more than once that she doesn't need rescuing.
Tad: Ok. All right. I'm sorry. Really, it's a tough position, especially considering all you were trying to do was protect her.
Ryan: Yeah. Well, not my job anymore.
Greenlee: All this time I thought I ran off the road alone.
Natalia: But did you remember something new?
Greenlee: No. I don't remember a thing. But I heard there was another driver involved.
Natalia: Who told you this?
Greenlee: Doesn't matter. The point is anytime I bring up my accident around anyone, they shut down on me. I know there is more to that night than just a car running me off the road.
Natalia: None of these news sites even mention this car?
Greenlee: Not one. I mean, isn't there some way that I can find out what really happened?
Natalia: Well, there are the official police reports. I can access them online using my PVPD status.
Greenlee: Please? I need to know.
Natalia: You have every right to know this information.
Greenlee: Thank you.
Natalia: All right, here we are, the official accident report for the Connecticut State Police.
Natalia: That's weird. The records have been sealed.
Greenlee: Why would they be sealed?
Natalia: That usually happens when there's a minor involved or -- or when someone with a lot of pull gets it sealed.
Greenlee: Like someone who wants to keep things under wraps?
Natalia: That's my guess.
Greenlee: Excuse me for a minute.
Erica: You won't be sorry, Don. This is just gonna be the best buy Lacey's will make all year. No, trust me, my Fusion glam line is gonna outsell everything else. Great. Ok, I'll talk to you soon. Bye. Annoy me some other time, Greenlee. I really am very busy.
Greenlee: I know everything, Erica.
Erica: Yeah, you're an egomaniac. Of course, you think you know everything.
Greenlee: About my accident. I know what happened that night.
Erica: Ok. So you know everything about your accident. What does that have to do with me?
Greenlee: I know it's being covered up. I know who's being protected.
Erica: Sounds like a job for the police. Maybe you should ask Officer Fowler to come in here. Maybe she can help.
Greenlee: I don't buy this little act of yours.
Erica: Greenlee, you're the one who's putting on an act. I think you're trying to trick me into revealing some big secret. I hate to disappoint you. There is no big secret.
Greenlee: Ok, then humor me. Tell me what you know about my accident.
Erica: As far as I understand, you were riding your motorcycle in a wedding gown, and you skidded off the road. Do you think there's more than that?
Greenlee: You know there is.
Erica: Greenlee, your accident was tragic, but you survived. Why can't you move on now?
Greenlee: If you had people covering up facts about an event that took away an entire year of your life, would it be so easy for you to just move on?
Erica: But, Greenlee, you're alive. Why can't you just be happy and grateful? Look, no one is hiding anything. Ok, if you'll excuse me, I really do have work to do.
Greenlee: I'm not going to stop, Erica. Not until I find out what really happened.
[Elevator doors close]
Greenlee: Finally. The vulture has left the building. Come on, let's go find out what Erica is hiding.
David: I want that deal, Liza. You talk to the D.A. again. You do whatever it takes.
Liza: Listen, any plea we would've accepted would've included jail time, and that's not happening. Not on my watch.
David: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. I don't give a damn about your hotshot lawyer rep! This is my life, therefore, it's my call!
Liza: You knew exactly what I was in for when I took this on. You paid me to be straight with you, and that's exactly what I'm doing, only you keep getting in my way.
David: All right, so what's the plan, counselor?
Liza: Well, I've moved the court date up to throw the D.A. off, but we need more.
David: All right, you know what? Forget it. We're not going over this again. Greenlee is not getting involved.
Liza: We need Greenlee's testimony to get the jury's sympathy.
David: Ok, you know something? We're forced to do this right now, you're forced to do it without Greenlee.
Liza: All right, listen, I know. I know how you feel about Greenlee, and I know that you're always wondering how she feels about you. Why don't you give her an opportunity to show you?
David: Let it go, Liza. I'm not taking a chance that Greenlee's gonna hear that Kendall was behind that wheel. I'm not gonna put her through that.
Liza: All right, fine. Then take a good look around here, because this? This is pretty much gonna be the Valley Inn compared to state pen. So tomorrow when you're in court, I want you to think about just how long you're gonna be in that hellhole if you're convicted. They usually stop fighting their attorneys when they realize that prison is gonna be a reality.
Colby: So what exactly did you buy from the spy tech shop?
J.R.: Where did you get that?
Colby: I found it in your room.
J.R.: Aren't you a little old to be snooping on your big brother?
Colby: Not if I question his sanity. So what are you messing with in there? A hidden camera? I'm guessing not to tape the heroic tale of Annie being a bone marrow donor.
J.R.: For months you've been all about Annie getting out of our lives.
Colby: Yes, we both want to protect Dad. So don't be all secretive on me now. What are you planning?
J.R.: The plan is to get Annie to come on to me in D.C. I record it, I spit in her face, I show it to Dad.
Colby: And how the hell are you gonna get Annie to put the moves on you?
J.R.: Annie's become increasingly jealous over the attention Dad's been giving Brooke. Right now she's insecure, she's vulnerable, she's needy, and I'll be playing up our new, deep connection.
Colby: Are you listening to yourself? You sound completely insane.
J.R.: It will work, Colby. And this family will finally be free from her.
Colby: Right. Just after you sacrifice yourself to the man-eating stepmonster.
Colby: Hello? Yeah, just one second. It's for you. It's your wife.
J.R.: I was just about to call you. I got the ok to go to D.C. with Annie. Yeah, we're all set to give our pitch to the congressional subcommittee. Once we're done, they're gonna go all out to raise awareness on getting tested.
Marissa: That part sounds great. But isn't it a little soon for you to be traveling? Your immune system is still low.
J.R.: Don't worry. I'm gonna be extra careful. I'm gonna be traveling by car, not air. And in my safe limo, it's guaranteed to be germ-free.
Marissa: Ok. Well, take care of yourself. I don't want anything happening to you.
J.R.: I have a beautiful wife to come home to. Think of it this way -- by the time I'm back, you'll be better. And our family will be back together, the way it should be.
Marissa: You're amazing, you know that? You just left the hospital, and the first thing on your mind is helping others. How many people would do that?
J.R.: I love you more than you know.
Marissa: I love you, too.
J.R.: I'll call you later.
Colby: Didn't want to fill Marissa in on the entire Annie seduction part? You know this is wrong. That's why you didn't want Marissa to know. Look, J.R., I want to get rid of Annie just as much as you. But is it really worth risking your marriage?
Brooke: Are you sure that Colby's ok?
Adam: Well, other than worrying about you and the delinquent responsible for this mess, she's fine.
Brooke: I feel silly. You know, I can walk.
Adam: It's not easier in a wheelchair?
Brooke: I just think it would be better if I see Damon alone.
Adam: I'm not going anywhere.
Brooke: Oh. And you say I hover?
Adam: I don't think this is a good idea. He just wants to grovel at your feet so you won't sue him.
Brooke: I want to hear what he has to say. Go. Talk to your wife. I'm ok. I'm Brooke English.
Damon: I would've come to your room, but --
Brooke: Your note said you wanted to see me? I'm here. What do you want?
Damon: I'm sorry.
Annie: When I realized you didn't come home last night, I was worried.
Adam: Oh, I'm sorry. I just didn't want to leave Brooke alone.
Annie: I wish you would've called, Adam.
Adam: I know. I should've. But I didn't want to wake you.
Annie: I knew this trip to D.C. was a mistake. I'm staying. You need me here.
Liza: So I might need you to take the witness stand. Let's go over what you're gonna probably have to say.
Guard: Hayward? You got a visitor.
Krystal: I would like a moment alone with David.
Liza: Well, we're preparing for a trial.
David: It's all right, Liza. Just give us a minute, please?
Liza: Ok. Well, don't take too long.
David: Wow. Really? All that over Martin? I'm sorry, I still don't get the appeal.
Krystal: You know there's only one reason I would see you.
David: Is Marissa ok?
Krystal: I'm surprised you remember her name. Do you realize what she has been going through, David? Her husband nearly died, and now she's being kept away from her family because she has swine flu.
David: What? When did she get that?
Krystal: It's a mild case, but she hasn't been feeling well. But, of course, you don't know that or you don't care.
David: Of course, I care.
Krystal: Well, then why don't you show it?
David: I'm sorry, ok? This just doesn't seem like the right place for father-daughter bonding.
Krystal: Oh, come on. Now, that is just a load of crap, and you know it, David. You've had plenty of time to bond. How can you pretend that your daughter doesn't exist?
David: She's been very vocal about not wanting me around.
Krystal: So you just give up?
David: No. I'm respecting her wishes.
Krystal: No. You're taking the easy way out. You think it's all sunshine and roses for Marissa and me? No. Our relationship takes work. Parenting takes work!
David: Yeah, well, maybe she's better off without me.
Krystal: Oh, you know, David, get off your pity train. That's a cop-out and you know it.
Erica: Ryan? Excuse me. Thank you. We really need to talk.
Ryan: Ok. About what?
Erica: Ryan, it's about Greenlee. Have you told her anything about her accident?
Ryan: No, Erica. I told you I haven't said anything to her.
Erica: Well, someone has been talking to her, because she is honing in. She's more hell-bent than ever on finding out what we're hiding.
Ryan: Ok, Erica, I still don't understand why we're hiding anything. Greenlee can handle the truth, ok? She's a lot stronger than you think.
Erica: And she's a lot more vindictive than you think, Ryan. Come on, you know Greenlee. She loves to blame people. And if she finds out the truth now, she's gonna leap right down Kendall's throat. I mean, Greenlee's already on the warpath. Heaven help us all if Greenlee finds out that it was really Kendall who was driving the car towards her on that icy road that night.
Greenlee: What are you waiting for? Search those files.
Natalia: Greenlee, if you are right, this could be a huge cover-up. Maybe they're trying to protect you.
Greenlee: I don't need protecting. Come on, haven't you ever bent the rules to do the right thing?
Natalia: Ok. I don't even know what I'm looking for.
Greenlee: Just anything relate -- wait a minute. Wait a minute. I just remembered I know how to log on to Erica's computer. All right. There has to be something here. Kendall -- that's it.
Natalia: Kendall? What about Kendall?
Greenlee: If I find her, she'll tell me what really happened the night of my accident.
Ryan: Erica, let me ask you something. If you were in Greenlee's shoes --
Erica: Oh, don't. Please don't put me in Greenlee's shoes.
Ryan: You would do absolutely anything to find out the truth. You would. I mean, come on. We've been dancing around this accident for over a year now. It changed all of our lives. Why don't we just stop trying to bury it? Greenlee and Kendall are grown women, ok? This should all just be out in the open.
Erica: Ryan, I think that you're letting your feelings for Greenlee just blind your judgment.
Ryan: My feelings for Greenlee have absolutely nothing to do with this. Here.
Erica: Ryan, we both know you still love Greenlee.
Ryan: This has nothing to do with me and Greenlee, ok? This has to do with doing the right thing. And, honestly, if you're not gonna do it, then maybe I will.
Erica: Ryan? Ryan?
Natalia: Wow. Wherever Kendall is must be nice.
Greenlee: This picture was e-mailed to Erica. If I could just find Kendall's e-mail address, but Erica covered her tracks and deleted it. And there doesn't seem to be anything else on here.
Natalia: Wait. Kendall's on a yacht, right? Well, if we get the name of the yacht, you can track it down that way.
Greenlee: But it's too little. Is there any way to blow it up?
Natalia: Yeah. Watch out. All right. Here.
Greenlee: Wait, wait, wait. That's it. Ha ha! "The Red Wing."
Natalia: It's kind of an odd name for a boat.
Greenlee: Detroit Red Wings: It's Zach's favorite hockey team. Thank you. I hope Kendall's ready to see a ghost.
J.R.: I will not betray my wife.
Colby: But you'll lie to her?
J.R.: Look, if I have to play dirty to bring Annie down, I will.
Colby: Do I need to remind you how crazy Annie gets unleashed when she has a new guy to obsess over? What if she gets all "Fatal Attraction" on you?
J.R.: Didn't you try to rope Scott into seducing Annie away from Dad?
Colby: Well, Scott's not married. And by the way, that plan went nowhere. Like I said, Dad always sides with Annie.
J.R.: Not this time.
David: I should've reached out to Marissa more. You're right. But I didn't, and it's clearly my fault.
Krystal: Look, you're not exactly father of the year, but you are her father.
David: I'm not gonna force a relationship on her while I'm locked up.
Krystal: So you'll do nothing?
David: Krystal, the best thing for Marissa really, right now, is for me to keep my distance. Now, look, I know you don't owe me anything, but I'm asking you. Please do everything for her that I can't. Just watch over her, make everything all right for her. And someday when I get out of here, I'll make it up to her and to you. I promise.
Krystal: You know, I don't put much faith in your promises.
David: People can change, Krystal. When the time is right, it can happen.
Krystal: Yeah. People can change. I'm not sure you're one of them.
Krystal: He's all yours.
Liza: I'm not gonna ask what that was about, but let's get back to business.
Annie: I know you're concerned about Brooke, but I'm concerned about you. Adam, you can't keep sleeping in hospital chairs until she gets out of here.
Adam: I only stayed last night, because I wanted to make sure Brooke was ok after her surgery. And now she's on the mend, so tonight I'm gonna be sleeping in my own bed.
Annie: How much longer until she gets released?
Adam: Oh, 4 or 5 days.
Annie: Wait. Well, now that she's feeling better, will you reconsider coming to D.C. with me?
Adam: I don't think I'd be much fun on the road. Besides, this is your moment to shine.
Annie: Adam, J.R. wants me to get in front of this committee and speak by myself. I can't do that. I'm scared. But if you're there, it'll give me strength.
Adam: Yeah, well, you are strong with or without me.
Damon: I can't tell you how sorry I am. I'm just glad you and Colby are ok. You are ok, right?
Brooke: I'll be ok. I mean, it'll take a couple of days, but, yes, the doctor said that I'll be fine.
Damon: I don't know what I would've done if you or Colby had -- this never would've happened if I wasn't so stupid. This is all my fault.
Brooke: It's ok. Accident's happen.
Damon: No, this wasn't just some accident. I did this.
Brooke: What do you mean?
Damon: I was texting and driving. Colby tried to stop me, but like an idiot I didn't listen to her, and then this happens. I thought you knew.
Adam: Brooke, are you ok? I'm getting her back to bed. I know why you're upset. It's about Laura, isn't it?
Ryan: Hi. Greenlee here?
Woman: No. She left a little while after you did, Ms. Kane. Wherever she went, she was in a huge hurry.
Ryan: Erica? Erica. Erica, you want to tell me what's going on?
Erica: Something's been moved around. Oh, damn Greenlee! It was a whole act she put on just to get me to leave the office.
Ryan: Ok, let's say she was snooping around. What would she find?
Erica: I don't know. Something. Something that got her to go racing out of here, and I've just got to figure out what.
Guard: You got another visitor.
David: Hey. I'm happy to see you. I need to talk to you about my trial.
Greenlee: That's why I came by.
David: Yeah. Well, I'm assuming Liza's been badgering you to testify on my behalf, and I know you're determined to do that, but --
Greenlee: Actually, if you don't want me to do it, then I won't.
David: That's it?
Greenlee: If it's what you really want.
David: You don't usually give up so easily.
Greenlee: I was thinking, you know, maybe you're right. Not that I don't want to be there for you. I do. But if you don't want me there --
David: I don't want it upsetting you.
Greenlee: I know. You want to protect me, so I'm going to let you.
David: This isn't like you, Greenlee. You're not usually so compliant. Is there something else going on?
Greenlee: No. I'm sorry. You know, I'm crazed with this competition with Erica at work and then you being here.
David: You don't have to worry about me.
Greenlee: So you're really ok if I don't sit in on the trial?
David: Well, of course, I'm ok. I'm the one who didn't want you anywhere near that courtroom.
Greenlee: You'll get cleared. Liza's good. Promise me that you'll trust her.
David: As much as anyone can trust Liza.
Greenlee: I have to get going.
David: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Do you mind telling me where you're going?
Greenlee: Just know this. I won't forget everything you've done for me.
Tad: What's going on?
Damon: Brooke English -- she was just here. I apologized for the accident, and I told her it was stupid to text and drive, and she got really upset and just bailed.
Tad: Ok, I should have handled this. Uh, a long time ago, there was another accident. Another driver wasn't paying attention to the road and he'd been drinking, and he hit and he killed Brooke's daughter Laura.
Damon: Oh -- oh, my God. I just made her relive all those awful memories, didn't I?
Brooke: I'm sorry. I don't know why I got so emotional.
Adam: There are times when I think of Stuart. The loss? It hits me all over again.
Brooke: It just came over me -- you know, the memory of that day when I lost Laura. She was gone just so quickly.
Adam: You can't get well here. I talked to a doctor today. You'll never recover here.
Brooke: But I'm supposed to be here for a couple more days.
Adam: No. No. You're coming home with me to the best home care available. Ok?
Brooke: But --
Adam: No buts about it. It's decided. You're coming home today.
J.R.: I just said good-bye to A.J. You make sure he doesn't stay up too late, ok?
Colby: You still think you're really going?
J.R.: Annie will be here.
Colby: You sure about that? She seemed ready to give herself to Dad's side.
J.R.: There you are. I was about ready to send out the search party. The limo's waiting. You ready to go?
Annie: Well, Adam promised me that he will not continue to spend the night at the hospital. So now that I know he will be here in his own bed, I can go. I'm just go finish packing.
Annie: All right?
Erica: Well, I covered my tracks. There's nothing here that can give her any information about her accident.
Ryan: I am not so sure about that. I just opened some files that were recently accessed. Look what I found.
Erica: It's just a picture of Kendall and Spike.
Ryan: If Greenlee couldn't find the information that she was looking for here, maybe she decided to talk to Kendall.
Erica: Well, luckily, there's nothing on that picture that can tell Greenlee where Kendall is.
Ryan: The name of the yacht, Erica. The name of the yacht. What are you doing?
Erica: Calling Val to get him to charter a flight. I have got to get to Kendall now before Greenlee does.
Liza: Greenlee, where have you been? I've been calling you all morning. Would you please tell David to let you testify?
Greenlee: I can't. I have to go somewhere.
Liza: Now is not exactly the best time to be leaving --
Greenlee: It can't wait.
Liza: Ok, well, does this "somewhere" have something to do with what I told you about the accident?
Greenlee: Get David acquitted. I mean it. Do whatever it takes.
