Angie: Well, your doctor says you're in good condition, so I don't see any reason why you can't be checked out of here. How you feeling?
Annie: Different, humbled. J.R. is alive, and he owes it all to me.
Dr. Kahn: Hi. The transplant has finally been completed. J.R. is in stable condition.
Marissa: Oh, thank God.
Adam: Did you hear that? My son is going to live.
Dr. Kahn: Look. J.R. is in better condition than he was in last night, but he's not completely out of the woods yet. We still have to see if the transplant will take, and we're keeping up all precautions to avoid potential infection -- the sterile gowns, hats, gloves, the germicidal light setup.
Adam: But J.R. has defied all the odds. I think this transplant is going to be a rousing success.
Colby: Dad is right. J.R. has fought so hard, he won't give up now.
Dr. Kahn: Let's hope so.
Krystal: Ha ha! Well, if that is not a miracle, I don't know what is.
Marissa: Ha ha ha! He's gonna be ok. I thought I'd lost him, and then --
Krystal: Something brought him back.
Tad: Hi, Dixie.
Greenlee: Hey, Randi, has Erica faxed over the proposals from the marketing meeting?
Randi: Nothing yet.
Greenlee: Stay on top of that fax machine. I want those papers as soon as they come out. Randi, Madison, go over these. I want the receipts from the purchase orders double-checked, ok?
Greenlee: Thank you.
Jack: You said it was urgent.
Greenlee: Did you hear about David?
Jack: Yeah. I heard he incriminated himself and then he bolted.
Greenlee: That's why I called you.
Jack: Oh, thank God. Honey, thank God. I will have these annulment papers drawn up immediately.
Greenlee: I'm not ending my marriage. I'm not gonna give up on him just like that.
Jack: Look. If Hayward is really gone, don't you think it might be a sign, you know, that you're supposed to move on, start fresh?
Greenlee: David and I are going to be together, but I need your help to make that happen.
Ryan: Greenlee figured out that I was trailing her, and she must've given Hayward the heads-up.
Jesse: Did she say anything to you when you found her at the hospital?
Ryan: Nah. She was just making a big show about arguing with Jake. Obviously, all she was doing was giving Hayward time to get the hell out of there.
Jesse: You hear about his disguise? He took the chaplain's shirt and collar.
Ryan: Lovely. Isn't that sweet? Why does it not surprise me that he would steal from a clergyman? Isn't that fantastic?
Jesse: Well, apparently, he offered to make a huge donation to the chapel fund and then proceeded to lock the guy up in a closet.
Ryan: Any idea of where he's headed after the hospital?
Jesse: Could be anywhere.
Greenlee: I know you don't like David, but I need to find him a lawyer.
Jack: No. No. Refuse to represent him.
Greenlee: Fine. If you won't do it, then I'll find someone who will.
Jack: Greenlee! Why would you stick your neck out for a man who has hurt so many people?
Greenlee: It's called loyalty.
Jack: Oh, is that what it's called? Well, at least you have a name for it, because you and I both know it's not love.
Greenlee: When has love ever done you and me any favors?
Jack: Oh, come on. You don't remember all the happy times you had with Ryan, those days before your wedding, the smile that never left your face?
Greenlee: Yeah? Well, how did that turn out? David will never hurt me like that.
Jack: Greenlee, the man is guilty, and he needs to pay for what he has done.
Greenlee: Those charges are a joke.
Jack: Really? Stealing a body, bribing a county official? Those are very real crimes in the eyes of the law.
Greenlee: He did those things to protect me.
Jack: Oh, he did it to protect himself, because he knows that without you, he has nothing.
Greenlee: Exactly, nothing. That's what I had a few months ago -- nothing. I almost died, Dad, dead and forgotten as far as this town was concerned.
Jack: Not to me. Never to me.
Greenlee: David saved me. He brought me back to you. Doesn't that count for anything?
Jack: You helped him, didn't you? You helped him escape. Greenlee, what are you thinking about? You could be charged as an accessory.
Greenlee: Please. The police won't be able to pin anything on me.
Jack: All right. Look. I know you don't want to believe this, but if you continue to stand by Hayward, you're going to get hurt. I guarantee it.
Greenlee: Why do those words sound so familiar? Wait. I know why. Because it's the exact same thing you said about Ryan.
Jack: Yeah, and the reason I came around on Ryan was because I realized how much he loves you and how much you love him. Stop pushing him away.
Greenlee: I don't know why this is so hard for you to understand. I can't be with Ryan for the same reason you can't be with Erica -- self-preservation.
Jesse: The town was on lockdown after Hayward left the hospital. Wouldn't be too easy to get out of town unnoticed.
Ryan: What about that friend of his that's a pilot?
Jesse: Oh, we tracked him down right here at this little airport right outside of town with a small plane on standby. After we were through with him, didn't seem like he was going to be flying David Hayward anywhere ever again.
Ryan: So, even with all the exits blocked and the plane grounded --
Jesse: He still could've gotten out.
Ryan: Or he's still in town. He's just hiding. He's just laying low someplace that nobody would even think to look.
[Bird caws at the cemetery]
David: I wish we had more time, Leo, more time to be real brothers. It seems like only yesterday you left us. I'll tell you something. Greenlee still misses you. She's tough, but the hell Lavery has put her through lately, that's why I married her -- to protect her. Well, not like Greenlee needs any protecting. That's for sure. You should see her, brother, the way she's taking on this whole town, defending me. She's been a true friend. Now, come on. You know Greenlee. She never does anything halfway, right, especially when she loves someone. That's the way she loved you and the way she loves Lavery, even though that moron doesn't deserve it. I don't want to leave town, Leo, but I don't have much choice. Greenlee will be fine.
Colby: I feel like if I take my eyes off of him, something bad will happen to him again.
Brooke: Oh, Colby, you know, as you said, J.R. has come this far.
Marissa: Scott called. He said he's sorry that he's not here, but he's so happy that you're awake, some crisis at Chandler, but he'll be back soon.
Adam: They all waited here, waiting for you to pull through. They knew you weren't gonna give up. Ha! J.R., I am so proud of you.
Marissa: Yeah. He was here when you woke up, but Opal took him home to get some sleep, but he'll be back soon, too.
J.R.: I want to see --
Marissa: You will. You will, I promise, but you need to keep your strength up. We need to get you better so you can get out of here and come home to us.
Adam: And the whole family will be there to help you every inch of the way.
J.R.: My family -- all together now.
Adam: And we'll stay together this time. You know why? Because you're not leaving us.
Tad: I knew you were here.
Dixie: This is just a dream.
Tad: No, it's not. You're way too real. You've been with us for a few days, haven't you? I knew it. I knew it. I could feel it. Thank God. Wasn't good, Dix. For a while we thought we were gonna lose him. I thought I was gonna lose our little boy.
Dixie: I know, but you didn't.
Tad: Because of you.
Tad: Uh! You heard me beg you not to take him, didn't you? You sent him back.
Dixie: Tad, come on now. I don't have the power of life and death. J.R. just had more life to experience in him, and he'll get to do that now.
Tad: Second chance.
Dixie: Tad, he has turned out to be such a good man. I am so proud of him.
Tad: Well, he's lucky. He always had you to watch over him.
Dixie: You are the one who has always watched over him. And listen, you need to keep doing that, ok? J.R. has a long road ahead of him. You need to be the father that he craves. Talk to him, you know? Give him everything that he needs. Please remind him of what's important.
Tad: I will. I swear it. I'll be there for J.R. You know I will, but I miss you. Every single day, I miss you.
Dixie: I miss you, too, but listen, you know, you have moved on, and you have a beautiful life, a great life, Tad, and a beautiful home and a family that loves you and Kathy. Oh, she's so beautiful. I just love watching you with her.
Tad: You're right about one thing. She is beautiful.
Dixie: Ha ha ha!
Tad: I see your eyes every time I look her in the face.
Dixie: Ha ha! You've been a good father. You deserve to be with all of your children every day, and you will be. Listen. I don't have any more time. I have to go.
Tad: Please, just stay a little while longer.
Dixie: I'll see you again -- in the stars.
Tad: I don't want to have to wish for you. I just want you.
Dixie: In the stars.
Liza: Ok, so let's go over your testimony one more time. Damon -- [Snaps fingers] Look. Your trial is this afternoon. I need you to concentrate here, ok? We got to get you prepped and ready for this.
Damon: No worries, ma'am. I'm prepped. I'm as prepped as I could get.
[Cell phone rings]
Damon: Hill, where are you? No. That's all right. I told you it was cool. All right. Talk to you later. Bye.
Liza: Is that your mom?
Damon: Took your advice. I gave her a call, told her about the trial.
Liza: Oh, is she coming?
Damon: She was going to. I guess she changed her mind.
Liza: Did she say why?
Damon: Why else? My dad. He won't let her come. He's still pissed at me for getting Bailey pregnant. That was my last shot with him. All hope for me is out the door, not that they really had much hope for me to begin with, but, hey, Hill is sending over some money to cover the legal fees, so --
Liza: Damon, look. All kids need their parents.
Damon: It's a good thing I'm not a kid. I'm gonna go get my monkey suit on.
J.R.: There was white light. I felt Mom there with me.
Adam: Yeah. Well, you thought you were in trouble. You thought of her. It made you think of your mother.
Colby: J.R., you scared the crap out of me. I would be pissed at you if I wasn't so happy to see you.
J.R.: I couldn't leave. I needed to spend more time with my little sister.
Colby: [Laughs] Well, don't ever scare us like that again, ok?
J.R.: I won't. Dad, are you ok?
Adam: Never felt better, much better because you're back with us.
Brooke: You ok? You look pretty out of it.
Tad: I am. I was just in the chapel, and I had this weird dream. It was about Dixie, and she kept trying to tell me something about my children. I couldn't understand what it was.
Annie: Hi. I couldn't stay away at the spa any longer. I wanted to come see how J.R. was doing.
Colby: Don't worry, J.R. I'll get rid of her.
Ryan: I'll tell you this, though. Hooking up with Greenlee is the smartest thing Hayward ever did. There is nobody better to have at your side when your back is against the wall.
Jesse: Sound pretty calm about all this. Too calm?
Ryan: Hey, I've tried punching walls before, Jesse. It doesn't work, but I will. I'll do it right now if you want me to because I'm close.
Jesse: Save the walls, please. I know how you feel. Hayward tried to mess with Angela, I would hurt him bad.
Ryan: It's a long list of people he's hurt. This is a very long list, so, yeah, of course I've imagined tearing the guy apart, but I'm not gonna do it, honestly, because I don't want him to get off that easy.
Jack: Greenlee, it's not that I don't trust you. I don't trust Hayward any further than I can throw him.
Greenlee: But I do. Shouldn't that be enough? If you won't do this for David, do it for me.
Jack: No. I won't do it.
Greenlee: If you love me, you will do this. If you don't --
Jack: If I don't, what? Greenlee, no matter what you threaten me with, I am still your father, and -- I'm sorry -- I'm not gonna help you with this.
Greenlee: Randi, did Erica fax over those papers?
Randi: Actually, Erica said she'd just bring them up when she came back to the office.
Greenlee: Just because la Kane doesn't recognize the importance of a task, it's ok to blow it off?
Randi: No. It's just that I --
Greenlee: Get it straight. Erica is not the one you answer to.
Madison: Ok. I'll call Erica. I'll just go and meet her wherever she is and bring the paperwork back here.
Greenlee: Thank you. It's nice to know that some people can follow direction.
Madison: Are you ok?
Greenlee: I'm fine.
Madison: I'm sorry that it's a rough time. I know what you're going through. My husband was the former D.A. -- ambitious, ruthless. Didn't make him the most popular guy in town.
Greenlee: What happened to him?
Madison: Um, he died.
Greenlee: Sorry to hear that. You should call Erica. I really do need those papers.
Madison: Yeah. Right. Of course.
Woman: Mrs. Hayward? There's someone on the phone for you, something about a delivery of red roses to your house.
Greenlee: I'll take it. Is it safe to talk?
David: For now. I'm on the disposable cell.
Greenlee: Are you ok? I've been so worried about you.
David: Come meet me. Just be careful not to be followed.
Greenlee: Where are you?
David: I'm with Leo.
Tad: Liza, would you relax? I'll be at the courthouse in plenty of time.
Liza: I need to talk to you before the trial. It's about Damon's mother.
Tad: What about her?
Liza: I can't talk to you about it right now, but I'm heading over to the police station to talk to the D.A. Can you meet me there, and can you bring Colby?
Tad: Yeah. We're on our way.
Damon: What do you think? Straight-arrow enough? Liza, is something wrong with what I'm wearing, really?
Liza: Mm. No, no. No, no. It's good. It's good. Yeah. Hey, let's get going.
Adam: Annie, it's good to see you. Thank you for saving my son's life.
Annie: How is he?
Adam: You know, he's stable, finally, on the road to recovery.
Annie: Adam, that is great. I am so happy.
Colby: Oh, Annie, how sweet of you to stop by. It must've been so, so hard to step away from that masseuse.
Adam: Colby --
Annie: It's all right. It's all right, Adam. Colby is entitled to her feelings. It's been a really upsetting time for everybody.
Colby: So, what are you doing here? Because the sight of you might kill J.R.
Annie: I'm family, Colby, whether you like it or not.
Adam: Uh, you do look a little tired. Why don't you go on home? I'll meet up with you later?
Annie: You want me to leave?
Adam: Well, I think it's not a good idea to have J.R. watching people fighting outside of his room.
Annie: I can't believe you're trying to get rid of me after what I did for J.R.
Colby: And what exactly have you done for J.R.?
Greenlee: I'm not in the mood for hide and seek, boys. I know you're there. Do me a huge favor. Take a message to your chief for me. Tell him I'm allowed to visit my dead husband's memorial without being followed.
Cop: We're just doing our job.
Greenlee: Harassing a woman trying to express her grief.
Dispatcher: 10-2, 10-2.
Second Cop: This is 10-2.
Dispatcher: Armed robbery in progress, calling all units.
David: I miss him, too.
Greenlee: Oh --
Ryan: Jack, what's up? Your message sounded real important.
Jack: Yeah. I just came from Greenlee. She wants me to be Hayward's lawyer.
Ryan: Well, you know your daughter when she gets her mind set on something.
Jack: Yeah. She doesn't stop until she gets it. I know. I know. I just wish she would come to her senses about him and about you.
Ryan: She's the most stubborn person I have ever met, which is exactly why I love her, but it's also the most frustrating thing about her.
Jack: I mean, I know what happened here, ok? Hayward found her when she was hurt and vulnerable, and now he's got her brainwashed into thinking he's some kind of saint.
Ryan: Don't underestimate Greenlee, Jack. She is using Hayward just as much as he's using her, and you know what? I think I might have the perfect way to break up their little alliance.
Jack: Look, Ryan. I know things have been tough for you and Greenlee, but please -- I'm begging you -- do not give up on her.
Ryan: I was thinking exactly the same as you, that Hayward was manipulating her, but I realize now it's giving the guy way too much credit.
Jack: Because you know she does love you. That's why she's pushing you away.
Ryan: She's trying to protect herself from getting hurt any way possible.
Ryan: She knows I hate Hayward, so she's holding him close to hold me off.
Jack: Yeah, but if she keeps on this way, she's gonna end up charged with aiding and abetting or worse.
Ryan: Which is why I've got to act right now.
Jack: Just be a little careful with her, will you?
Ryan: I would never hurt her, Jack. You know that.
Jack: I know that. I do. I know that. So, what are you gonna do?
Ryan: I'm gonna give her exactly what she wants.
Greenlee: I got to hand it to you. Hiding out here is genius. It's the last place they'd look for you.
David: Yeah? Well, it's not gonna be for much longer. With those cops trailing you, it's just a matter of time before they report following you. I'm taking Lavery and Hubbard have been keeping you company?
Greenlee: Oh, taking turns with the entire Pine Valley police force, but don't worry. I've been careful.
David: Greenlee, I'm sorry. I never intended to drag you into this mess.
Greenlee: I'm the reason that you're in trouble. I'll just find a way out of this. I just need time.
David: Did you do something?
Greenlee: It doesn't matter. It didn't work out. Ok. I asked my father to represent you.
David: Ha! Your father? He's never been one of my biggest fans.
Greenlee: Hey, he's practically waving annulment papers in my face. Don't worry. I told him to back off.
David: I think it's the way to go.
Greenlee: No. No. I won't do that.
David: Listen to me. When I leave town, it could be a very long time before I can even contact you again.
Greenlee: We'll find a way.
David: A few months ago, we weren't even sure if you would open your eyes, let alone walk again. Now look at you. You don't need me anymore.
Greenlee: We're married. That "for better or for worse" part, I'm sticking to that.
David: I know what you're really worried about, and you can handle Ryan all on your own.
Greenlee: This has nothing to do with Ryan. You helped me, David. I want to help you.
David: Ok. Look. I don't have time to argue with you about this, ok? I have to get going.
Greenlee: Well, where are you gonna go?
David: I don't know. Hubbard has blocked all the roads, and I don't think there's any safe mode of transportation right now, so I'm just gonna take it easy, lay low, and wait for everything to die down. Then I'm gonna make my move.
Greenlee: Well, let me do something to help.
David: You know, maybe there is something you can do.
Colby: So, why don't you tell us what you supposedly did for J.R.?
Adam: Stop browbeating her.
Krystal: I'd like to know the answer to that. I mean, I'm sure J.R. would, too.
Annie: No. I just meant that I have done a lot for J.R. by being here for Adam and his family.
Colby: And how were you there for us? You ran off to a spa when J.R. almost died.
Tad: Colby, I think it's time we get to Damon's trial.
Colby: Just stay away from my brother.
Adam: [Clears throat] Um, Colby doesn't know what you've done, but I do, and I'll never forget it.
Brooke: Hi. I'm worried about Adam. I know the toll that this is taking on him, and, you know, in typical Adam fashion, he's trying to hide it from everyone.
Angie: And I have a feeling that the current Mrs. Chandler certainly isn't helping the situation much.
Brooke: Thinks I want to seduce him. You know, my only concern is his health.
Angie: You know, there are not many ex-wives who would be so caring about their former husbands, especially when that husband was Adam Chandler.
Brooke: Well, listen. You know, it wasn't easy being married to him, and there were definitely times that I wanted to kill him, but, you know, that was a long time ago, and this has been a difficult year for him. You know, he lost Stuart, and he almost lost J.R., and I know what that's like, you know, to lose somebody that you love, and that's when Adam was his best with me.
Angie: Then you make sure that he takes care of himself, because that is the very best thing and the best way that you can help him, even if Annie is in the way.
Adam: Annie has decided to head on home. Would you mind going with her?
Brooke: Well, you look like you could use some rest. Why don't you go on home with her?
Adam: Oh, um --
Brooke: And, you know, J.R. will be here when you come back.
Angie: All right. Heart rate is up. Vitals are steady. How are you feeling?
J.R.: I feel tired.
Angie: Well, that's understandable, and you're gonna have to get a lot of rest. You make sure of it.
Marissa: I'm the one in charge. J.R. knows it.
J.R.: Angie, my donor.
Angie: They wanted to remain anonymous, J.R.
J.R.: I know, but I have to find out. I owe them. I owe them my life.
Angie: J.R., I understand that you want to thank your donor, but I cannot break patient-doctor confidentiality.
J.R.: Why stay anonymous? He saved my life.
Angie: The donor had reasons, and that's all I can say. Now, the best thing that you can do is to respect the donor's wishes. I'll be back to check on you later, ok?
Marissa: Alone at last. Now I have you all to myself.
J.R.: Wasn't just the donor that saved me. You did and A.J. and my dad and Colby, the whole family.
Marissa: What would this family be without you?
J.R.: You fought for me, and I'm gonna fight for you, all of you. This family is all that matters to me.
Annie: Wow, J.R. already looks so much better. I am just so glad I could do this for him. Adam, I know you want our family to come together and put everything in the past, and I want you to know that's why I did this. That's why I did it for you, and I'm so happy that you decided to come home so we could spend some alone time. What is it? What's wrong?
Adam: J.R. is gonna be all right. I almost lost my son. I don't think I could go on if I didn't have J.R.
Annie: Oh, it's ok. Come here. It's ok.
Adam: Oh --
Damon: Liza is talking with the D.A. now. I just want to thank you guys again for helping me out. It means a lot.
Colby: Yeah. I mean, no problem. We are glad to help.
Damon: How is J.R. doing?
Colby: He woke up. Yeah. He's good, and he's doing better, so I guess it's my turn to say thanks.
Damon: For what?
Colby: Well, it was cool, the way you helped me out like that when things weren't looking so good for my brother.
Damon: No. I was just doing what any friend would do.
Tad: Yeah. Can I talk to you over here for a second? Over here. Get over here. Knock it off.
Tad: The act. Knock it off.
Damon: What are you talking about?
Tad: I just want you to know, you cannot Eddie Haskell me.
Damon: Eddie who?
Tad: What do you mean, "Eddie who"? Eddie Haskell. "Leave It To Beaver"?
Damon: What are you talking about?
Tad: Never mind. It doesn't matter. God, I'm dealing with children. Look. The point is that everybody on this earth knows an Eddie Haskell, ok? Eddie Haskell is normally this loudmouth kid that thinks he knows all the right words to pull one over on an adult, ok? The only problem is, any adult with more than two dimes upstairs knows he's full of it.
Damon: I meant it when I said thanks. That's not an act.
Tad: Ok. Do me a favor. Pull it back by half. By half, you understand? Because if I can see through you, a judge is gonna see through you in five seconds. You want him to go easy on you? There's only one way that's gonna happen, and that's if you are for real, you are remorseful, you are honestly sorry for everything you have done. That is the only way you're gonna get your narrow butt out of this.
[Knock on door]
Ryan: Just hear me out.
Greenlee: I'd rather not.
Ryan: I'm here to offer you a deal.
Liza: Tad, Tad, come here.
Tad: Where have you been?
Liza: I just have to tell you, so Damon's mother was supposed to meet him here for the trial, right? She bailed at the last minute.
Tad: No. Poor kid.
Liza: Yeah. I know. I thought it was a little strange myself, so I decided to look a little further into it.
Tad: What'd you find?
Liza: Well, I found out that Miller is Hillary's married name.
Liza: Her maiden name -- it's Wilson, Hillary Wilson.
Tad: Hillary Wilson?
Liza: Yeah, the --
Tad: Hillary Wilson --
Liza: Hillary Wilson.
Tad: As in my --
Liza: Yeah. Yours. Your ex, the one you loved and lost long ago. Damon is her son.
Marissa: He just fell asleep. I'm glad. He needs the rest.
Krystal: I hope you have sweet dreams, J.R.
Dixie: Remember how much I love you, J.R. Always keep your heart open. Allow yourself to love and live.
Dixie: You are my sunshine my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are gray you'll never know, dear how much I love you please don't take my sunshine away
Greenlee: I don't trust your deals, and I'm not making one with you.
Ryan: You want me out of your life --
Greenlee: You're just getting that now?
Ryan: And I will accept that.
Greenlee: Really? Just like that?
Ryan: One condition, that you give up David, and then I will leave you alone for good.
Second Cop: This is where we followed her.
Cop: She knew we were here. She was reaming us out, and then we got called away on that robbery.
Jesse: Well, one of you should have stayed on her, damn it. Probably met up with Hayward as soon as you left. What is this? Chaplain's collar. Hayward was here.
Annie: Ok. I have an idea. How about we open up a bottle of champagne, we have a toast to J.R.'s survival?
Adam: Well, I'm afraid I'm not up to that. Brooke was right. I need some rest.
Annie: Adam, what about what I need? During that whole procedure, I sat in that hospital room, and I felt so alone. The only thing that got me through it was knowing that I was doing it for you, knowing that you would be there to hold me when it was over, ok?
