Bailey: I didn't want to do this at your place.
Liza: You've decided?
Bailey: I want to keep my son.
Liza: You want to keep him, but you're not entirely sure. Listen, why don't you just take a few more weeks and see how it feels.
Bailey: Liza, I'm sure.
David: Did you hear what I said? I don't want your pity.
Amanda: I'm trying to be a friend.
David: Uh, yeah, right. When have we ever been friends, Amanda? I mean, come on, give me a break. Just because I'm sick doesn't mean I'm stupid. I know exactly what you and Jake are up to.
Tad: Bad time?
Jake: Well, kinda, sorta. My life, my wife, my family's all up in the air. Though Hayward might not be around long enough to mess with it anymore, and that's the good thing, so I thought maybe I would go talk to my wife.
Tad: Uh, listen. Don't get me wrong, ok? Nobody would be more thrilled if you decided you want to give Amanda another chance, but just do me a favor, ok? Don't write off Hayward, not yet. He's still very dangerous.
Jake: Well, I thank you for your concern, but I think it's over.
Tad: No. That's just it, it's not. And it won't be over until Hayward is in a box.
P.I.: Devane used his credit card to make the reservation. If your daughter is still with him, this is where to find her.
Erica: Ok. Why don't you give me the room number, and then I can --
P.I.: Devane hasn't checked in yet. Have to sit tight.
Erica: Ok. Then thank you. And I can take it from here.
P.I.: You're sure?
Erica: Of course, I'm sure. I can handle my own daughter.
[Car door slams]
Kat: I have been trying to reach you for days. You don't pick up my phone calls, and you don't call me back.
Aidan: Will you calm down?
Kat: You want me to calm down? Your buddy Tad shows up at the boarding house, grabs my shotgun at one point and threatens me unless I tell him where you ran off to.
Aidan: Tad would never have hurt you.
Kat: Can you say the same thing about Kendall's husband? I didn't think so.
Aidan: Now, just -- can't we relax for a second. All right, everything about this plan is gonna work.
Kat: Aidan, no matter where you run or what you do, Kendall's not gonna fall for you like this. You need to give it up. Just let her go!
Aidan: Kendall's not going anywhere. And neither are you.
Liza: Ok, look, you know, there's no set time limit on this. If you're feeling uncomfortable about staying at my apartment, please don't.
Bailey: It's not about me feeling uncomfortable.
Liza: Have you really thought about this? On every level? There is so much to consider here, Bailey.
Bailey: I have, and I really do want to raise my son. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but I do.
Liza: All right, then, so -- I won't stand in your way.
Bailey: You won't?
Liza: Not if you've made up your mind. So what else is there?
Bailey: Uh, I don't know. I thought you'd freak out and, you know, scream at me and yell at me, tell me how sick I am for taking him away from you.
Liza: You're his biological mother. You have the right.
Bailey: Ok, you must be holding back 'cause we're in a public place. Like, just let loose. I mean, slap me. I know you want to.
Liza: It's ok.
Bailey: I don't get it. How can you not be mad?
Liza: Because we had a deal. You were gonna move into the apartment and spend time with Stuart alone and see if you could actually follow through on the adoption, and you did, so you figured it out. How could I possibly be mad?
Bailey: You bonded with him. You started a life with him. Liza, is there anything you need? You love him so much.
Liza: I knew this was coming. I knew it from the second that he was put into your arms. I saw that connection -- it's the most powerful connection in the world. I know because I had it.
Tad: Hasn't being cocky got you into enough trouble? Don't make the same mistake twice, ok? Don't assume victory. Hayward has not finished messing with you or Amanda.
Jake: Well, he's not well. I think he is finished.
Tad: No. Well, according to him.
Jake: No. I think he is. There were test results. There's medication he's taking apparently. Angie talked to a top hematologist. I think it's done. I mean, I think it's real. I don't think he's gonna live. I think he's dying.
Tad: Ok, but he's not dead, not yet anyway. With an ego like that, he's gonna use every last minute he has to come up with some miracle cure.
Jake: Fine, but he's not God.
Tad: Well, somebody should tell him that, which leads me to my other issue: Amanda. He's not finished screwing with her either, ok? He's gonna use every opportunity that comes up to mess with her head, to suck hers back in before he kicks the bucket.
Jake: I got to believe that she hates the guy. I mean, what else have I got?
Tad: That's not gonna matter. Don't you see? Your wife -- if nothing else, Amanda's got a huge heart. Just wait until he starts playing the dying daddy card, you know? Walking around the house, back and forth, crying every day about losing his precious son. She's gonna start feeling for him, ok? She's not gonna have a choice, which means you have to stay strong. You cannot afford to forget who he is or what he is capable of.
Jake: Forget? You think I could honestly forget the guy who's torn my life apart? No, I -- I fact, I hope he sticks around long enough for me to return the favor.
David: My time is almost up. This disease is stealing the days, the hours, the minutes I have with my son. I don't want you acting nice just, because you know it's almost over. Six months from now, you'll be reunited with your husband. You'll have Trevor. You can celebrate then. I have no doubt that Jake is already planning a bon voyage party.
Amanda: David --
David: I'm gonna go lie down. I want to save my strength for what's important: My last moments with my son.
Jake: Hey, it's me. I was just thinking about everything. Look, whatever happens with David, we'll all just deal with it, you know. I just want to say that I love you. I can't help it. And I just want our life that we dreamt about. You know, the three of us -- you, me, and Trevor. So, uh, I'll be at the stables if you get this. You can come down there to meet me if you want.
Aidan: Making Kendall forget about Zach is not gonna be easy, I'm gonna go as far as I have to.
Kat: This is too far. Execution at close range? It's way too extreme.
Aidan: I know what I'm doing, Kat. I know how to make Kendall fall in love with me.
Kat: By scaring the hell of her? She thinks that you just shot me.
Aidan: Whatever it takes.
Kat: Devane, when you showed up at my front door after my husband died -- look at me. You were so caring and so sensitive. What happened?
Aidan: I wised up. Nice guys finish last. I'm no more Mr. Nice Guy. I know what I want, and I'm gonna get it.
Kat: You're not gonna get it, not like this.
Aidan: Kat, would you just -- ahh. Look, what I need you to do right now is to play dead. I need to get back to Kendall. Say, mate, I was the guy that called, gave you my credit card number. You said you'd have the room ready?
Desk Clerk: Yes, of course. Do you have any luggage?
Aidan: In the car, yeah.
Desk Clerk: Shall I have the bellhop bring it up?
Aidan: No. I can do that. I can do that.
Desk Clerk: Enjoy your stay.
Aidan: Glad to. Thanks.
Erica: Excuse me. The gentleman who just got on the elevator, he's a friend of mine. I'm trying to surprise him. Can you tell me his room number?
Desk Clerk: Oh, I'm sorry. I can't give out that information.
Erica: You don't know who I am?
Liza: Oh, look at me. I am running on fumes here, working all hours. Thought it was gonna slow down during the holidays, but you know I guess not.
Bailey: Are you sure you're gonna be ok?
Liza: Listen, this is not about me anymore. This is about you and your son.
Bailey: Yeah, but --
Liza: No buts. Ok? Just focus on Stuart. And I'm here for whatever support you need.
Bailey: Babies are a ton of work. I had no idea how much, but I can't picture my life without him.
Liza: Well, you know that you made the right decision.
Bailey: Thanks for saying all of this. You've been such a great friend, and I've just --
Liza: Listen, ok, you know what? Stop with all that, really. I appreciate you considering my feelings and all, but it really shouldn't factor into your decision.
Bailey: How can it not?
Liza: Look at me. I'm serious. Enough. The law says that you have the right to take your son back, all right? I respect that. I'm not mad. So don't spend another minute being guilty or torn.
Bailey: I just feel so selfish.
Liza: You are not being selfish. God, you're following your heart. That's brave, and it's beautiful. And don't you ever apologize for feeling that, ok?
Bailey: I just wish there was a way we could do this without anyone getting hurt.
Liza: So do I. But there isn't.
Bailey: Yeah, so what happens now?
Liza: Well, uh, protocol. We sign some paperwork.
Bailey: What about the papers I already signed? The adoption papers. Stuart's as much your son as he is mine.
Liza: Not anymore.
Amanda: I'm glad you called.
Jake: Mmm. Glad you came.
Amanda: So does this mean that you forgive me?
Jake: I would really like to try.
Amanda: When I heard your message, I was so relieved. Jake, I'm -- I'm so sorry. About everything.
Jake: I'd like to try to put it all behind us if that's --
Jake: Yeah, I didn't really think it was, you know, gonna be possible but --
Amanda: But now with David out of the picture, it is. No more threats, no more blackmail.
Jake: I thought he was lying, you know, about this blood disease, but it turns out that Angie confirmed it.
Amanda: Angie? How does she know? You stole David's medicine?
Jake: Had to be sure. Now I am. David is dying.
Amanda: If he weren't, would you still want me back?
Kendall: Uh! Let go of me! Let go of me.
Aidan: Listen, if you don't cooperate, you're gonna end up just like Kat.
Kendall: I'm not afraid of you. I'm not afraid of you.
Aidan: I'm not afraid to use this, Kendall. You should know that about me. That's better. Peace and quiet is what I like. Now, I'm sorry that you had to hear what you heard earlier in the van, but Kat was becoming quite a problem. She was getting in my way. No one is gonna get in my way anymore, including you. In fact, I am getting exactly what I want. You understand me?
Erica: I have never been treated like this before. I can't believe it. Wow. I just can't wait to tell my friend Barbara Walters about this. I just know she's gonna want to team with me and do a complete expose on "The View."
Desk Clerk: Ms. Kane, please --
Erica: Oh, you do know my name. I see, well, you will never see my name on your registry. Or actually, any of my celebrity friends. I'm gonna make so many phone calls and tell them exactly how rude you treat your guests here.
Security Guard: Problem?
Desk Clerk: I was just explaining to Miss Kane that it's against hotel policy to give out room numbers, but I'd be happy to connect you on the house phone.
Erica: Would you?
Desk Clerk: Right away.
Erica: Thank you.
Erica: Aidan, it's Erica. I'm in the lobby. So tell me your room number. I want to see daughter.
Aidan: She can't come to the phone right now. She doesn't want to speak to anyone.
Erica: Aidan, she can tell that to everyone else but not me. I'm her mother.
Aidan: I don't care if Erica is her mother. We came here to be alone.
Erica: Well, then if that's the case, Kendall can tell me herself right in person. I'm right here in the lobby. I'll be waiting.
Aidan: That was your mother on the phone. She's downstairs. You better pray she goes quietly. 'Cause one way or another, she will go.
Jake: All I care about, all I've ever really cared about is having my life with you, and with David in the picture and all, was around, it was impossible, and that insane agreement. It --
Amanda: But it was the only way for us to be together, and -- but if that's the only reason that you came, because of the news about David, then he's still controlling us, our decisions and how we feel about each other.
Jake: I'm here, because I love you. It's stupid. David or anybody else could never make me change my -- my feelings on that.
Amanda: I need to know that you forgive me.
Jake: Look, we both messed up. All right? Ok? Can we just say that? We both messed up trying to keep this little family together? Let's just say that, and let's just move on.
Amanda: Can you really do that?
Jake: Well, yeah, as long as, you know, you're not married to me and living with him or saying that you love me and having his kids, sure.
Amanda: I know the deal with David, but I -- I don't know the deal with us. So tell me, where do we stand?
Jake: Honey, we stand about this close to having everything that we want due to a little thing called karma. Even Dr. Evil can't see his way around that.
David: Don't you worry. It's only gonna make him seem sick. Don't want Mommy to get suspicious, right?
[Cell phone rings]
Liza: I was just thinking about you.
Tad: I was wondering why my scalp was itching. Here I thought I'd put too much jojoba oil in my cream rinse.
Liza: You use cream rinse?
Tad: Are you kidding? I make it myself. Avocado, a little coconut oil. Not only is it I dynamite for the scalp, it tastes terrific.
Liza: I had no idea.
Tad: Oh, yeah. Think I roll out of bed looking this lustrous? Come on, kitten. It takes work. Talking blood, sweat, and ten different natural moisturizers.
Liza: Hey, listen, uh, you and your hair can take a little break, I need a favor.
Tad: Sure. What is it?
Liza: Can you meet me over at Jake's?
Tad: Yeah. I -- as a matter of fact, I'm already here. Or there. I mean, I'll wait for you.
Liza: Good. Thanks.
Erica: Where's Kendall?
Aidan: She's upstairs.
Erica: But I made it perfectly clear I want to see my daughter.
Aidan: Erica, she wanted me to come down and talk to you and tell you she's embarrassed, and she doesn't think you're gonna understand.
Erica: Well, she's right about that. I don't.
Aidan: We didn't plan this, ok? It just happened. Kendall didn't want it come out this way.
Erica: Well, it seems that it has, and running and hiding, that's just making it worse.
Aidan: She also wanted me to tell you that she never meant to hurt Zach.
Erica: When Zach saw you two together, it didn't hurt him. Aidan, it killed him. He's in no condition to care for two small boys. Those children need their mother.
Aidan: And she wishes that she could be there for them.
Erica: She can.
Aidan: Not now. She needs some time to figure things out.
Erica: Doesn't sound like Kendall. She would never abandon her little boys.
Aidan: Erica, I know you're worried. I know you're concerned about your daughter. She just needs some time. That's all. she'll come around. And she'll come home. Can you trust me on that?
Erica: Well, you certainly don't give me much choice, do you?
Aidan: You're making a smart decision, for your daughter and you.
Erica: Tell her not to stay gone too much longer. Her boys miss her. We all do.
Aidan: Are you ok? Silly question. Of course not. Listen, I'll take that off of your mouth -- if you promise you won't scream. But if you do, you'll regret it, ok?
Kendall: Is my mother dead?
Aidan: Not yet. But she will be unless you're a good girl and do exactly what I tell you.
Amanda: Can you even imagine having to say good-bye forever to your son on a DVD?
Jake: No, no, I can't. But having you film it, I think, is very manipulative.
Amanda: Well, it was my idea, and David knows his life is over. If you were in his shoes, wouldn't you want to send a message --
Jake: Oh, no, no. Don't try to -- please. Don't expect me to have compassion for this guy, all right? The guy's got an agenda. He's always got an agenda. Can you please remember that? Let's remember that.
Amanda: I will, but that's not what this was. He made that disk for his son, not as a way to play me.
Amanda: David, what's wrong?
David: Where are you?
Amanda: I went for a walk.
David: Can you come home?
David: I came downstairs to get my medication, and Trevor started crying, and I can't find the strength to go back up.
Amanda: I'll be right there. I got to go.
Jake: David needs you?
Amanda: Trevor needs me.
Jake: Is he ok?
Amanda: He didn't sound that way, neither did David.
Security Guard: So who's the guy in 601? He must big if Erica Kane was after him.
Amanda: Oh, my God, what happened?
David: It's a side effect -- of the medication.
Amanda: Should I call an ambulance?
David: No. I'll be fine. Just go take care of Trevor.
Amanda: I can't leave you here alone. Hey, would you stay down here and watch him for a minute? I will be right back.
David: Stay away from me.
Jake: Wow, you're really sweating, Dave. What can I do to help? Can I help you?
David: I don't want your help.
Jake: Well, it's either me or the Grim Reaper. Take your pick.
Erica: Kendall! Kendall, we need to talk. open the door, Kendall!
Kendall: Mother, please don't do this now!
Erica: Five minutes, that's all I ask.
Kendall: Mom, I'm not ready to face anyone. Please just go!
Erica: I'm not just anyone. And I'm not leaving. If I have to camp out here, I will. Honey, I want to help you. I want to know what's happening. I want to understand what's going on, but I can't do that unless -- unless I hear it from you -- unless you open the door.
Erica: Sweetheart, it's so good to see you. Talk to me. Tell me everything. How are you? Are you all right?
Kendall: I'm fine.
Erica: You don't look fine. Come on, let me take you home.
Kendall: No, no, Mom. I can't.
Erica: You don't have to be afraid any longer, honey, you really don't. It's over. Truly. Adam came forward. He confessed, so you can come home.
Kendall: I know.
Erica: Well, then, this is what we've been waiting for. You don't have to keep running. You can come with me now. You can come on home where you belong.
Kendall: Mom, do you honestly think Zach would take me back right now?
Erica: Of course. Of course, he would.
Kendall: I ran away with another man. Ok, Zach is never gonna speak to me again, let alone forgive me.
Erica: Zach has never stopped believing in you, and he won't now.
Kendall: You're wasting your time.
Erica: Honey, do you have any idea how many people have been fighting for you? Not just Zach, but Ryan and Jesse and me.
Kendall: Yes, I know that, and I appreciate all you've done. I really do. But that's all I can do right now.
Erica: Kendall, you've missed lot with your little boys. But, this is your chance to make up for lost time. I mean, Christmas is coming. And you couldn't be with us last year because, you know, you were in the hospital, but now -- well, here's your chance. We can decorate a tree, and we can exchange gifts, and you can see the look on your little boys' faces, and we can celebrate your freedom, honey. We need you there. Your little boys need you there.
Kendall: I think about them all the time. But, uh, they are better off without me.
Erica: Kendall, how can you say that?
Kendall: Mom, I'm a mess, ok, all right? My life's a mess. I can't -- I can't do it. I can't.
Erica: You can't be a mother to your little boys?
Kendall: No matter -- no matter how much I want to be with them and how bad I want to see them, I can't do this right now, ok? I'm shaky, and I'm unsure of everything. I'm a mess right now. I haven't been able to trust anyone on the run, and you know how strong I usually am. I don't want to break into a million pieces in front of Spike and Ian. And I would. I know I would.
Erica: Whatever you're going through, whatever you're feeling, we can work through it together. Come on. You walk out that door with me. Let me take you home where you belong.
Kendall: I'm sorry, Mom. You're going home alone.
Liza: So by signing this document, I permanently relinquish all custody and other parental rights to the child, Stuart Colby. Consent for the adoption has been revoked, and the child will be returned to the biological mother Bailey Wells.
Tad: Wait, wait, wait. Just a sec, just a sec. Liza, why am I doing this?
Liza: Listen, I could ask Marissa to do it, but I really, really don't want to, 'cause she's gonna go tell J.R., and then J.R.'s gonna tell -- ah, Colby, this whole thing will just be a big deal.
Tad: It is a big deal.
Liza: Look, I'm a terrible typist. If you don't want to do this for me, I get it. I'll just --
Tad: That's not what I mean -- you know exactly what -- look. You're giving back your son. You're not writing a term paper. Stop pretending this doesn't faze you.
Liza: What are you talking about? This is killing me.
Tad: All right, then fine. It leads me back to my original question, which is why are we doing this?
Liza: What choice do I have?
Tad: You're Liza Colby, for God's sake, you could fight, fight with every thing you have!
Liza: Oh, you want me to drag him into a custody battle?
Tad: To ensure the best possible future for your son? Yes, hell, yes!
Liza: Oh, no, it is not that simple! You know what kind of damage that does to a child? Parents playing tug of war over children? What, you got fond memories of you and Brooke going to battle over Jamie?
Tad: Oh, point taken. Oh, yeah, you're absolutely right, 'cause God knows he turned out so badly, out there fighting to save the world. What a tragedy.
Liza: Right, happy ending how many years later? Come on, Colby. Suffered over all the years that I battled over her. J.R. is still suffering. God only knows if he's even gonna ever heal. I'm not doing that to him.
Tad: You're just gonna give him up?
Liza: Yes. I love him, that's what I have to do.
Bailey: Shh --
Bailey: Hey, it's ok, buddy. You're gonna have everything. Yeah. Just not as fancy. I don't have an apartment -- or a lot of money -- or a plan. But I do know we can't stay here, so I guess I better call your dad.
Jake: Your heart rate is dangerously low. Dangerously low.
David: Well, you don't sound surprised.
Jake: Well, should I be? You're on your death bed, right?
David: So Amanda did tell you?
Jake: Malignant erythrotosis. Sweats, fatigue, high temperature -- makes sense. And that Malaysian cocktail you're drinking is probably doing a number on your liver. Your white count is down. It's gotta be rough.
David: Mmm. You've been checking up on me. I'm flattered.
Jake: I wasn't gonna take your word for it, Dave. I don't believe a word you say.
David: So what are you doing, trying to find something to hasten my demise? Shoot me up with potassium chloride? Amanda's none the wiser.
Jake: No. I'm trying to find something to get your heart rate up, so I don't have to rush you to the hospital. If you got something in this bag that'll help me shut you up, I'll take that, too.
David: You're counting the days till I die. I got that. I'm fine. Just do me a big favor: Don't badmouth me to Trevor. He's yours now. I accept that. I have to. I just don't want to die knowing that my child will hate me.
Liza: Well, it's all done. Once you sign that, it'll be as if the adoption never happened. You -- you ok?
Bailey: Yeah, yeah. It's just -- I have a son --
Liza: Yes, and he's amazing.
Bailey: Because of you.
Bailey: You gave him everything. Such a great start. And then I came here and you let meet to know him. I mean, you didn't have to do that.
Liza: I wanted to.
Bailey: You've done so much for both of us. There has to be something I can do for you.
Liza: There is. Be a good mother. Ok? Love him. Unconditionally and completely. Put him first. And don't ever forget how lucky you are to have him in your life.
Bailey: You go get him.
Liza: It's ok. It's probably not a good idea. Be with your son. Oh -- oh. Oh, my God. Oh. [Sobbing] Oh --
Jake: Well, you don't really have to worry about me trash-talking you to Trevor. You know why? Because I'll never be talking about you at all. And when you're gone and you're living in your condo in hell, I will be the only father that Trevor ever knows.
David: You can't do that.
Jake: Oh, I can, and I will. See, you might have fooled Amanda into easing your pain for the next six months, but me, personally, I don't mind watching you suffer, Dave. I don't mind sitting here watching you suffer a little bit more each and every day.
Erica: It's perfectly understandable that you'd be confused.
Kendall: Mom, please, listen to me. I'm safe. I'm ok with Aidan.
Erica: I know you believe that, but if you would just come home --
Kendall: No, Mom, please, would you for once stop fighting me, please, ok. I can't -- I cannot come back right now. I can't. I'm nowhere even close to ready.
Erica: That's ok. I'll help you!
Kendall: No. You can't help me, Mom. I'm way too screwed up, ok? You're much better off without me, too.
Erica: No, that's not true.
Kendall: Yes, yes, Mom, it is! Yes, it is, ok? I -- I am a horrible person.
Erica: Oh, no, you're not.
Kendall: Mom, of course, I am. Everyone's out there helping me and fighting for me, taking risks and making sacrifices and what am I doing? I'm -- I'm running away to be with Aidan.
Erica: Honey, please don't do this.
Kendall: Your daughter is a cold, dishonest, selfish person. Everything I am back in Pine Valley -- wife, mom, CEO -- I don't want it anymore. I don't want any of it anymore. I just want to be free!
Erica: It doesn't make any sense.
Kendall: Yes, it does, Mother! It makes perfect sense. It makes perfect sense. Why do you think I keep doing this? Why do you think I'm always betraying my husband and running away? Because that's not my life. This is my life. This is who I am. This is what I want.
Erica: Kendall, I just can't stand to see you like this.
Kendall: Then go. Please, Mom, just leave. Just go. Please.
Erica: I will never give up on you.
Kendall: You're a son of a bitch. You're never ever gonna get away with this. I don't even -- I don't even know who you are anymore. Why are you doing this?
Aidan: You know why I'm doing this.
